I found lev and Abby storyline a bit repetitive and forced in to humanize Abby really pulled at the mind when Abby father is asked would he kill his own daughter to save mankind but again Abby coming in kinda ruined the moment . Also the melee is this game is probably one of the most satisfying of all time hitting people with hammers boards wrench’s ! So fun . People talking about “stop bringing politics into it need to get over themselves and I would love to actually know where because as far as I’m aware there wasn’t . Definitely some holes in the gameplay/story but one of the best games I’ve played this year… Expand

To start I want to say clearly that this is NOT a review that targets naughty dog or other **** they are saying. if it was just harassment, I wouldn't write that many words into it and only say *** this game. But, it is my personal and sincere opinion on this game. First of all, I want to say that as a big fan of TLOU1, this sequel is a missed opportunity. it is clear purpose was NOT to make the player enjoys a game. it was clearly made to shove SJW ideology into our mouth.

    people on the other side says that everyone who rates it low is homophobic. here I defend myself and all the others by saying that this is not what makes us HATE the game. if their idea was normal inside to context, I will say it's ok. but an entire game that focuses so much on the character's sexuality in a dangerous world were deaths are around every corner is ****.

    More importantly, killing Joel in the most disrespectful way then force us to try to empathy the killer is just pure stupid. Don't get me wrong, I tried my best to give it a try. I truly tried to look through Abby eyes. but however i see it. i think she is just pure evil. trying to make her less evil by her being nice to dogs and trans kids haven't worked as they thought it will work. she and all her gangs are just unlikeable at all. I didn't care for anyone of them as much as I cared for Joel and Ellie. Then, he just kills Joel and makes Ellie lose everything in her life for a stupid typical un-complete revenge story.

    One more note, in so much dangerous world, how can a 13 years kids think about his sexuality so much and believe that he needs to transform into a boy ?????? aggggh just make it believable that all I ask.

    to be fair, the graphics and the gameplay was so damn good, no other game will beat that level of details. I don't think it is a 4.5 game at all. but, as a response to nail when he has given us a big finger by killing our most beloved character and spitting on it and destroying Ellie's character. I will give him this review as a return. The gaming industry depends on the player's opinion, so if he doesn't care about his audience, then he deserves what he gets.    … Expand

One of the example is Joel character, at the first game he will never trust strangers, it's actually one of the very first lesson he emphasized on, always avoid strangers or be ready for an ambush if you can't avoid them. In tlou2 he actually walked into a lodge full of strangers and drops his guards completely. So out of character, and that'sPoor writing and plot holes here and there.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well first of all, they put together 2 stories of abby and ellie, my personal opinion thought this game was all about ellie and not half ellie half abby so, I was getting frustrated through abby’s gameplay.
    Then the end wasn’t what I expected, a lot of hype for the game and really, not that great.
    It’s good, you could play it, but, don’t get high expectatives in the story finale.

    Graphics 10/10 one of the best graphics Music 8/10 really the last of us 1 had a great soundtrack but the last of us 2 doesn’t have like a track that i would remember, only the singed songs

    Gameplay 9/10 it’s the same strange layout from the last of us 1 but they included new things like crawl, dodge and jump so, it’s cool and new/old weapons from the previous game

    After all, a cool game but not what every fan was expecting, still, give it a try. It’s worth it    … Expand

    The gameplay and graphics is what the Last of us 2 shines at and the environment is also superbly executed. Some times this game gives more suspense horror moments than franchises like RE, Outlast etc. Now, The story!!!. Well Its not great, it suffers from some pacing problem and sometimes it feels like the game is a bit too long. There are some moments that were not executed well.The gameplay and graphics is what the Last of us 2 shines at and the environment is also superbly executed.     The story is pure garbage. New characters introduced for no reason. The second half of this game was a pointless side quest that I did not care about. Without spoiling the ending ill just say that it was laughably bad and unsatisfying.

    Excelente juego, te enseña sobre el lado oscuro de un mundo post apocaliptico, detalla la historia de cada personaje y como se desarrollaron hasta comprender que cada vez pierden mas humanidad por un intento de "sobrevivir", madurando a medida que viven cada suceso, viendo que lo que hacian antes no los diferenciaba de los infectados.

However, parts of the story were lacking to me and certain parts just seem tedious because of the constant flashbacks from two different characters. Believe it or not I went into this game spoiler free and had no idea of what was going to happen. I will say that during the confrontation between Abby and Ellie, I felt pretty angry that I had to play as Abby and I assumed the worst. I would just look away from the screen and tap the square button just forcing the inevitable. Surprisingly they didnt kill Ellie off there and dragged on. At the end they decide not to complete the quest that the entire game leads up to! Leaving the fan base empty handed on theyre blood thirst for revenge. 5 out of 10 from me.     However the games story is a by the book revenge story uroboros (the snake that eats itself).. the game force feeds the player this treatment. As a result the game has lost its appeal due to its treatment of its characters. Abby's dad is the doctor at the end of LOU 1 and this chapter of the game has even less of an ending than LOU 1. So its obvious that there will be a LOU 3.

    I was vested in the return of Joel & Ellie and the game takes a giant dump on Joel and leaves Ellie's character wanting. Totally took me out of emersion seeing Neil Druckmann on a trading card and then as an actual character who spits on Joels body. (don't fool yourself, that's Druckmann). How meta & edgy.

    Abby's character was two dimensional and needed better writing. If her story is to be continued in last of us 3 it needs a lot of work. Her story kind of starts where Joel was at the start of the LOU 1. She has lost someone important and has done bad things going on from there. She meets someone that turns her life around (Liv) just like Joel. Helping Liv turns abbys path away from destruction to building something good for herself. I feel there was two stories and the melding got lost in the process of making several shock moments that are supposed to tie the stories together. The attempt to make the player bond with abby was off the mark.. it needed more work and perhaps putting it at the front of the game rather than the middle would have worked better.

    I loved Dina & Liv they need more story time perhaps in LOU 3 or DLC. The game mechanics where very similar to that in last of us with a slight improvement. Many Players left wrecked and wanting justice for Joel #Justice for Joel. Ending was very wanting and left me as a player feeling very let down... I think that the marketing lies also added to this feeling, As if I was tricked into buying it almost. believing that after a seven year wait I as getting more of Joel & Ellie. I waited for a planned sequel that was just filler for the LOU 3 (its coming, believe me, naughty Dog Only has the LOU & crash bandicoot to work with after Druckmann disposed of Amy Hemming and ended her creation Uncharted).

    I have spoken with other players and their reaction to Joel was the same (many female). The sex scene with abby was forced and badly done and left the player feeling soiled in a way, there was not the connection you have with Ellie & Dina in their scenes .

    I Give this a 5/10 Because of the story mess, you had seven years and you copied & pasted the walking dead plots. do better Naughty dog. l would wait & Buy this game when the price drops #Juticeforjoel

    One finial thought which was never brought up... the Fireflies were a faction in the LOU world. If Joel had agreed to let them create a vaccine (if it was a 100% assured (which it wasn't) a lot of the letters / docs found indicated they were not as competent as they made out. Would they have given the vaccine to everyone or used it as a tool to control people / against other factions??    … Expand

The creators of this game told an amazing story that brought on emotions no other game has done. It was beautiful, haunting and sad. This game isn't meant to be fun given the storyline of what needs to be taken care of. Those upset about Joel's death fail to realize that Joel was not a hero. He was just as bad as any of the ones he killed. His choices were bound to haunt him. This game will live on no matter the critique because it started a conversation. It polarizes people's feeling of why loved the game in the first place. Congratulations Naughty Dog for continuing the hard work you put into your storytelling!… Expand

    The game genuinly constitutes an interminable slog through a miserable, bleak and hopeless storyline which bears little or no resemblence to the very well written original.     As far as the game and it's technology goes, it looks and sounds wonderful (a lot of skilled and talented work was wasted in this game's production) but there's very little that's in any way interactive. The lush vistas are merely skyboxes and billboards, the detailed environments will be merely glanced at as the player taps triangle to pick up the same crafting ingredients they were picking up 8 years earlier, in the worthwhile original. This is the game's major flaw (other than the terribly written 'plot') - the game is identical to the first in playability in every way; only three actions (jump, dodge and prone) differ, none of which adds anything to the game. Further, the venerable and cheap PS4 Jaguar core only being able to offer at best 1440p upscaled at (barely) 30fps makes attempting to aim with a joypad an exercise in frustration.
    Then there's the review bombing. Prior to release this game was brigaded with 10/10 and 100% scores from 'outlets' functioning as marketing arms for Sony. It seems the public are finally becoming aware of the corruption and nepotism that has largely destroyed gaming journalism in the last few years, and are now attempting to make their voices heard in the only ways available to them.
    In closing, I would recommend to new players to avoid this game entirely - while it looks nice, viewing a playthrough online will save you 60 bucks. It's about 20% walking simulator with no interaction, 60% awful, poorly written and infuriating cutscenes - and 20% sneaking up behind people/monsters and tapping triangle. Terrible.
    To those who played the original, I would avoid this like the plague. Comparisons to 'The Last Jedi' are appropriate and apt; beloved characters written by someone who clearly hates them are destroyed and literally spat upon in an attempt to drive your 'engagement'.
    The only thing I was engaged to do was return the discs to my friend and leave this hugely negative review. 2/10 is not a 'review bombing' score; it is my genuine assessment of this software release.

I’ve usually associated gay as being a bit too annoyingly sensitive and too gentle (for lack of a better word...or maybe it’s delicate), but this movie is as gutsy and manly as it can get.     After finishing: you can tell so much love went into creating this. There is such attention to detail, but at the same time, each step is leading us toward a bigger picture. Its hard for me to see how someone can not like it if they play it through, or even just play it half way through. Understandably I think some people were devastated by listening to some of the leaks, I went on nearly hate site towards the game and liked it, but well before the end of this journey I could see I was hasty in my reaction. It's a better story and more entertaining and more meaningful than most best pictures like Forest Gump, Braveheart, No Country for Old Men...and in comparing it to a book, it its in the same vein thematically as "To Kill a Mockingbird", but I feel even more superior because it was a sequel.

    I sympathize to those who heard about leaks and felt their high expectations were crushed. I know a theme of hope leaves you with this feeling that's hard to beat, like at the end of part 1. At the end of part 2, despite the insult you felt to your heart early on, you can tell as a gamer who longed to take a journey, you were deeply respected and loved.    … Expand

    God, what a downgrade.     If I ever get my hands on a PS4 / PS5, I will play the original, and act like this game does not exist / or is not canon. This is not a sequel to The Last of Us. It just isn't. Naughty Dog needs to stop ignoring the fans and admit they made a terrible sequel. Gameplay and visuals can be as amazing as you want them to be but the story is what drives The Last of Us. It's a generic third person zombie shooter game if you take the story out of it. If you ruin the story, it ruins the game.

It might even have another name instead of The Last Of Us Part 2 and it wouldn't make any difference. Although the graphics are great the story, which has always been the main focus of this franchise, is very bad and ridiculous. An unnecessary and generic story of revenge, full of flat characters and without purpose. Joel's death was done in a forced way. He was tortured to death by a character that the player is later forced to control. So the game tries to get the player to sympathize with this new character called Abby (the person who tortured Joel to death) through cheap tricks like petting dogs, saving children, showing the same flashback of the firefly hospital several times. I'm not sad about Joel's death, many expected this, but the way he died was undoubtedly questionable. This death, however, is not the biggest problem, the development of the characters is bad too. The game mischaracterizes all the old characters in order to promote new ones that are extremely forced and artificial as well as the context and situation in which they appear. The plot, despite trying, does not manage to be as deep as the original, I didn’t feel so much impact controlling both sides of the story because I found certain script decisions forced, especially the situations involving the new characters.… Expand

    I tried to play this game as non-biased as possible. But with all my desire, I did not succeed.
    If without spoilers, the game is very beautiful and dark. It has very good musical accompaniment. A lot of new mechanics, so compared to the first part of the game has become more lively, but the plot destroys everything.

    What is annoying me too is HOW they handled some characters. Characters that suddenly do stuff they did the opposite of in the first game MAKES NO sense. How are you able to mess up characters like that? There is a short * Tasteful Scene* in the game which nearly lead me to STOP playing the game because of how utterly disgusting it was. The end is so bad it questions you why the heck you played the game to get such a dumb ending.

    Gameplay: is good if you like the ctrl+c - ctrl+v from the first one with some small changes. This however was not good enough for me. Too easy to do certainly when you had so many years of development!
    Graphics and the Level design: The Graphics are gorgeous and the levels are very well made.
    Animations: The animations are really well done

    The graphics and mechanics are really nice, but the story is frustrating. I constantly felt bad while playing the game, it's a sad story that forced me to constantly take decisions I disagree. I kept playing believing that something would happen and playing through all that would be worth it, but it wasn't. The ending is simply a nail in the coffin of a sad and depressing story.

    A masterpiece. Truly, truly powerful, nuanced, sensitive, complex art. It doesn't trap itself by wanting to be safe at any point and feels like something unique and just emotionally amazing. The structure is genius. Druckmann somehow topped the first game. The ending is the best I've seen in a game, by far.

So for me to see what has happened with the story, which i believe the first game has one of the best stories in all of entertainment media, is so disgusting. It feels as if the writers wanted to force upon us an agenda that none of us were asking for. It didn't matter that the characters are gay, trans, or otherwise to me. I was disappointed with the story, which i waited 5 years for. Sure the opinion of whether the story is good or not is subjective but the way things happen and the way that certain characters act uncharacteristically is so stupid. The fact that after abby kills joel the only thing and i mean the ONLY thing us the player would want is to kill her, we have to play as her for 10 HOURS, WHAT!? How did that get through 7+ years of development and they said "yeah thats great, leave that in there they'll never see it coming" Of course we wouldn't, its the dumbest thing that anyone could write. D&D would be able to come up with a better story and you all know how GOT is in season 8. And the cherry on top of this **** sundae, is you finally find abby as ellie, you have her literal throat in your hands and you let her go!? Because revenge is bad!? Even though abby had a **** revenge spree the whole game and she gets off SCOT FREE!? BUT REVENGE IS BAD!?!?! I haven't been this disappointed in a story since the last jedi and im not even that big of a star wars fan. Just because its subversive doesn't make it a good story. The combat and stealth are fun, the weapons are cool, and the upgrade system and scavenging make for interesting game play. That's where the positives end. The game has such bad writing and storytelling that it has left everyone I know who loved and cherished the first game miserable and no one even wants to finish the game BECAUSE of the story. You know how bad a game has to be to make a huge fan of the series not want to play a game they waited 7 years for. Yeah, its that bad SPOILERS AHEAD.

    Imagine this, you build up a game as "diving deeper into Ellie and Joel's relationship" to kill Joel, one of your most beloved characters, in the worst way possible right at the beginning. We all knew Joel was going to die in this game, and yes he deserved it and it made sense. But to make Joel and Tommy look like complete idiots after surviving 24 years by following a random group down into a basement and giving them their real names.....when would they ever do that...On top of this, the game then makes Ellie watch Joel die and later tries to be like "Oh Abby really isn't that different from Ellie because she also sought revenge and her actions are justified and revenge never helps anyone" No. Just No. If Joel had walked into the operating room in the first game and the daughter of the doctor was standing right there, Joel would not have killed him. Plain and simple. The game tries so hard to paint Ellie and Joel as evil when Abby LITERALLY is shooting up her ownnnn peopleee at the raid of the island...You think Ellie would be shooting her friends from Jackson so easily if they turned on her????No because that's not in her character, or so I thought since you basically made Ellie out to be a selfish idiot and changed all of her character traits from the first game. Also, Ellie has remorse for killing others on her way to find Abby, throwing up after killing Mel. She doesn't want to kill innocent people but is given no choice, yet Abby literally never shows and remorse ever and only helps the 2 scars to make herself look better for Owen. Also helps him cheat on Mel......AND YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO ENJOY PLAYING AS AND SYMPATHIZE WITH ABBY.....if you are going to make us play with the worst character ever...please advertise as such and not fake trailers to make it look like Joel would be in more of the game. Thank you for trashing one of my favorite games ever and now I can no longer go back and enjoy the first game knowing how bad the sequel is. P.S. the only way to fix this is a DLC stating this was all a dream and start from scratch.

    You know how easy it would be to write a story for this game. Start the same way, instead of offing Joel, have Ellie say I'm going to the hospital to find out for myself as she still feels deep down Joel is lying. She leaves a note saying where shes going and Dina goes with her to keep her safe. Joel finds note and decides to go after her because he is overprotective. CUT ABBY FROM THE GAME ENTIRELY AND THE WLF. Ellie runs into the scars blah blah blah, has to go through a city full of them. That's 10 hours of fun right there. She can get caught somewhere, perfect time for Ellie Joel flashback when shes knocked out. Joel arrives to save her. They start escaping, the whole Dina pregnant thing happens and Jesse joins the mix because he wants to protect Dina. Jesse dies saving Dina in some cool way and not by getting shot in the face basically off screen and never to be mentioned again. Maybe even have Joel get captured by the scars while helping Ellie and Dina escape. Joel gets taken to the cool island, the best part of the actual game, but make the island bigger and more like a jungle and another 10 hour section, have Dina stay behind at a safe location and promise to come back. Finally save Joel but maybe they are like a really messed up cult and had him get bitten so he slowly turns. While he is dying have him like cry and tell Ellie what happened at the hospital and that he was sorry. Finally Ellie has to shoot Joel and its all sad. Ellie gets help from the two scars to escape the island and they come back to Jackson. Ellie brings back Dina and they start a family and you fade to black with Ellie playing the song Joel played at the beginning to Ellie.

    You need to play the full game to understand the love in this game which is about hate and revenge. Complete the campaign and I am sure that you will change your review Even I was skeptical to play the story from Abby point of view once again. I didn't enjoy seattle day 1, 2 with her a lot. But we eventually love her journey with Lev after war sequence which was intense.

    Every QTE event then between Ellie & Abby had my hurt pumping as I didn't want to lose both of them. That's the impact this game will give you.

    el juego contiene buenos graficos y un muy avanzado sistema de combate, la historia si esta algo floja pero lo rescata el sistema de combate que es muy bueno, lo recomiento mucho

    El juego es un 9.5, pero le pongo 10 para contrarrestar un poco a la ola de "millenial Ultra-sensibles y tóxicos" . Una lástima que hoy en día pueda más su homofobia y machismo que sus ganas de jugar un gran juego.

Me gustó bastante, sobre todo por qué es una historia diferente y te demuestra que puedes perder todo por la venganza, la verdad me hubiera gustado que Ellie se véngase, pero eso hizo un final diferente y abrió posibilidades de algo nuevo en un futuro.

First time was horrible, the story was all over the place, no character development and some of the most stupid decisions I've ever seen characters make. Abby is incredibly disgusting and ND failed to make me empathize with her. Second playthrough I tried to get some value out of gameplay but the AI was as bad as the first one and broke my immersion so many times. By the time I got to Abby's part, I just uninstalled. I'm done with Naughty Dog at this point. Hope their next game is better, but I'm certainly not buying it. Screw all "professional critics" by the way.     La propaganda L-G-T-B ya se tomado el cine, los medios masivos, la politica y ahora quieren tomarse los videojuegos. Me alegra saber que los fans en masa han salido a decir que los videojuegos estan bien como estan y no necesita de esta propaganda.

    Great game overall. Gameplay is far and away the best I’ve ever played and will be replayable based on that alone.

    As someone who followed the drama surrounding this game before its release I will swear a holy oath that the majority of negative reviews on this site are from users who did not play the game. Thousands of negative reviews came in hours after the game was released...this is a    Great game overall. I’m not someone who just blindly stans franchises he likes...Star Wars dropped the ball with the sequel trilogy and game of thrones season 8 was trash...but seeing this game compared to those is absurd. ABSURD. Anyone who gives this game a chance will see that it’s something special. I personally had no problem with the story, still deciding how I feel about the ending, but I know for sure that it was an amazing journey.    … Expand

The given story doesn't miss any opportunity to portray him/ her as broken by the world, bitter, unloving and above all: unsympathetic. Instead of slipping into the skin of the second protagonist of the first game, you are forced to play with the antagonist. I can't imagine that anybody likes him/ her, but with every scene the game tries to emphasize his/ her good side, the whole thing happens so unbelievable, that the whole story actually becomes to a soap opera. No comparison to the ingenious first part. The actual gameplay is too repetitive and frustrating, I often had problems with the camera or the incorrectly working "X-ray view". Also, dodging in close combat, especially in hectic situations, is poorly solved. Other games have shown how it works better. Graphically, the game is excellent, but as the story currently stands, the game should have ended better with the first part. Personally, I wished that joel and ellie would have looked again for a way to cure the infection, but without that ellie would have to die.… Expand

    The original Last of Us released 7 years ago when I was at the age of 14, it has always been regarded as the best game that I have ever played due to it's story telling, world building, sound design, character development, and graphics. So heading into The Last of Us Part 2, I had high expectations of course, Naughty Dog was well established as a amazing game development company that is always pushing the envelope. So heading into the game I was completely left in the dark, I did not watch reviews, or check out any of the story spoilers.

    The Last of Us Part 2 continues to push boundaries in regards to the graphics, sound design and overall immersiveness but it falls flat on it's story telling. When entering Seattle and taking in the level designs it's absolutely gorgeous how the game looks, and how it presents itself overall. The first half of the game keeps you captivated, it was absolutely amazing to play as Ellie again. You come to understand a lot more about Ellie and what happened during the years between the first game and the second game. Just as we hit the climax however, the story stops completely and begins the second half of the game. It kills all momentum from the first half and I felt the need to speed past this section of the game so I continue on the Ellie's story.

    Abby's section felt slow, I wasn't really invested into her story, mostly because I more invested in Ellie due to the first game. Now I'm not sure if this is the games problem, or a me problem, I just could not get into Abby's story emotionally. I feel like it's partially due to how she is shown during the first act of the story. We see her as cold, and brutal, and then the game tries to make us sympathize with her. I believe if they showed her flashbacks and story first and then Ellie's we would have come to understand her more. I don't hate her story, I just dislike how she is portrayed.

    I don't hate the game, I find it enjoyable at times and really amazing in a lot aspects, if Naughty Dog's aim was to make you feel a roller-coaster of emotions, I'd say they did it. A lot of people like this game, and a lot of people hate it, I think the best course of action is to experience it yourself, wither that through playing the game(would wait for a sale) or watching someone play. You make like it, you may hate it, or maybe find it okay, I personally find the game okay, it's a not a bad game, but it's not a good game. It's an okay game. It definitely does not deserve a 0/10, but it does not desire a 10/10.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
