    One of the best games I've ever played, loved it from start to finish. Perfect story, perfect character development and perfect combat. (Don't mind user score, it's just a bunch of trolls)

Coming from the first game which i think has some of the very best characters, story, atmosphere, moral dilemmas, storytelling, pacing, gameplay and many other pros and some cons, with the story and the way its told being the best part, THE LAST OF US PART II IS SO AWFULLY TELLING AN ALREADY MEDIOCRE AT BEST (but still **** compared to first one) STORY (best part about the story being the flashbacks those were actually really well executed) THAT MAKES ME SICK TO THE POINT I WANT TO THROW UP. I somehow played the ENTIRE game, even though i was HEAVILY bored throughout alot of it simply because the characters were so uninteresting - no character in this game had any development whatsoever. Whoever thought that the boring surface level chemistry lacking relationship between Dina and Ellie or Owen and Abby or her dad or whatever could ever replace the beauty of Joel and Ellies relationship, derseves nothing but to get fired and banned from ever touching anything good ever again. NOW lets talk about what i dont like about the game -
    So, the game has several messages throughout, some being about empowering women and some being about representing lgbt but i dont care much about those because i felt they were forced down my throat without being relevant for the story.    … Expand

    I really think this game is something like a 9.5, but since decimal aren't avaible and this game has received a ridiculous and unfair review bombing i'm gonna give a 10. This game is phenomenal, one of the best if not the best game of the generations, the visual is gorgeous, gameplay evolved in a very interesting way with new mechanics, the atmosphere and world design is astonishing, levelI really think this game is something like a 9.5, but since decimal aren't avaible and this game has received a ridiculous and unfair review bombing i'm gonna give a 10.     The game manage to put the player in situations that are always different and interesting, continuously surprising, and considering this is like a 30 hours game it is really something incredible.

    Many have problems with the story, personally I was never so engaged in a video game story, and hearing the complaints, it seems to me those are pretty much whims.    … Expand

    This game is a disgrace to the first. Amazing graphics, good gameplay, absolutely terrible story. It is a genuine shame seeing what happened to this franchise.

    After passing the game to me and saying that the story is the worst I have ever played, Joel's death, the script holes, as they destroy the characters, are no longer the same as the first game, graphically it is much lower than expected and the game has become boring and very uphill.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just so disappointed :( The Last of us has, for years, been my favorite game of all time. I was so excited to continue the story. The visuals and score do a fantastic job however that’s kind of where the positives finished for me. The gameplay didn’t feel too different to the first however it did lose its charm for me much faster. I felt a lot of encounters to be repetitive. However my biggest issue has to be the direction of the story. I loved Joel, I get that he is a flawed character but literally everyone is in these worlds. But he was OUR character in the game. I I was not even mad about his death or even the manner of it. I knew that would be a powerful way to send Ellie on her revenge quest. But to force you to play as the antagonist and beat Ellie was a joke. 10 hour or so playing as the character her brutally murdered your character from the first game, playing through as the story rams down your throats “look these people are nice sand kind too in their version of events”. I understand what they were trying to do but I just couldn’t enjoy playing as Abby after what happened isn’t the opening chapter.… Expand

    I played the game to the very end. All of the criticism I have read about the game is accurate. TLOU was the greatest game ever made. I understand making a worthy sequel is difficult. Stunning visuals aren't enough to make a game a masterpiece. This game has absolutely zero replayability. I have never played a game with a perfect rating before that was painful to finish.

    I also waited this game as most of other fans, but cannot agree with all this hate. This game is not like a first part, it is different. Just accept this fact. It has great graphics and gameplay and story which make you feel something. It is not the best, but definitely not a trash. 8/10.

Graphics are gorgeous, the atmosphere and animations are on point, the gameplay is like the first one with some improvements here and there, the AI sometimes can be downright stupid, the accesibility options are a great addition, but the story...my god......so first of all joel's death, i have no problem with him dying, i have a problem with how he dies, like he just gives his name to a bunch of strangers and then they kill him, we're talking about a man that ran over a guy just because he didn't trust him...the death was idiotic, they are trying so hard to make previously estableshed characters, they try to make abby "likeble" via cheap manipulation tactics yet she shows no remorse for killing anyone unlike ellie, and the ending.......so you do all that **** kill so many people and dogs, for nothing?!?!?!?! it has some good moments like the flashbacks with joel and ellie, or ellie in the music store but the overall plot is just a bad fanfiction, and i saw better fanfictions for this game than what we got.
    i'll give it 4/10, if it will ever have a multiplayer then 6.    … Expand

    The game is definitely not a zero folks! Sure there's a clear issue with the story but the gameplay is the same, if not better than the first one, the graphics is one of the best I've seen in a video game and the story is decent even with it's issues. There's a lot of hate out there...

    The game ended last night, so here's some pros/cons from me:

Had they given us the right to choose it might have improved the impression; * Joel's death and treatment is simply disappointing to me, treated like some kind    The game ended last night, so here's some pros/cons from me:

    Cons:

    * Joel's death and treatment is simply disappointing to me, treated like some kind of NPC. When he already had to die, I expected it to be a dignified death, something in the style of Arthur Morgan;
    * the game is tiring at times, they should have shortened it by about 5-8 hours, and thus cut the price of the game itself;
    * too many unnecessary flashbacks;
    * versus the first sequel, the dialogues/stories in LoU2 seem empty, non-emotional to me and I just couldn't connect with the characters;
    * the story itself should have been arranged differently, maybe if we had just played with Abby first and then set out on a revenge campaign with Ellie, I guess that would have made some sense;

    Pros:
    * graphics that are really great for me and I'm thrilled with how they managed to push such graphics to the PS4;
    * the soundtrack/music in the game is phenomenal to me;
    * voice acting is great for me, especially when I hear Troy Baker;
    * gameplay may be out-dated to me, but I enjoyed it because I think there are more of these survival segments compared to its predecessors and I just enjoyed tacticing, sneaking around and thus removing enemies;
    * segments with Abby are even better for me in some parts than with Ellie, somehow I had a feeling that there was more to do/eliminate, also those segments were tenser, more challenging for me;

    Whether Abby is trans or not, I don’t know or care because I don’t think it’s that relevant in the whole story.
    Overall impression of me: 7/10.
    The weakest part of the game in my opinion is the story, which should have been better if they had been working on it for over 5 years and **** it, as they would say in sport “they dropped the ball”.
    I hope for the third part because I’m very interested in what would happen to the characters.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is absolutely amazing to me how many people see Joel as a hero and are just mad that he's killed off.

    Joel is a terribly selfish and violent human being. His decision at the end of the first game is understandable - but it doesn't make him a hero. At all.
    In many ways he did have it coming and it would've been pretty cliché and boring if he was just given a lame, bog-standard redemption arc (and, I mean, he kind of got one in this game... at least somewhat).

    While the pacing is off and certain parts of the story are messy, it is a very compelling and exciting experience. It's certainly one of the better "video game stories".    … Expand

Other than that this game is terrible and here is why: It took me 21 hours to complete the game. It would have taken me longer if I had fully explored everything however, after awhile the gameplay became tedious and repetitive so I just ran through the story to get it over with. The gameplay itself hasn't changed much if at all compared to the first one but that isn't a major issue to me because I play for the story... And the story was terrible! No character development whatsoever, I felt nothing for most of the characters and the whole plot of 'revenge is bad but Abby can have revenge' is **** You telling me I can travel across the country killing stacks of people to find abby to decide at the end that revenge is bad? Honestly I wish I never played this game, it destroyed TLOU for me. There are many more things I despise about this game but honestly it hurts to talk about it. I waited 7 years for this? I wish I had seen the leaks so I didnt buy this crap.… Expand

The game was beautiful. It was not supposed to be taken as a canon. The Last of Us ended with the life in Jackson. The whole revenge plot was a shot a Naughty Dog missed but fair play to them. I want to but I can't hate this game because it is just so shocking and surprising.… Expand

    Mature stealth game settled in a post apocalyptic world with believable characters carrying a dark and twisted story. It is indeed the second part to it’s predecessor and the continuation of an arc that was on pause for so many years.

    Si vous vous demandez pourquoi les notes sont aussi différentes dans les avis c'est parce que plusieurs choses peuvent diviser dans ce jeu :
    - le scénario et ses thèmes principaux : la haine, l'amour, la mort, la vie, la séparation, le lien    Sans crier au chef d’œuvre, je pense que l'on aime ou pas, toute personne qui a vraiment joué à ce jeu jusqu'au bout n'en est pas sorti indifférent.
    Si vous vous demandez pourquoi les notes sont aussi différentes dans les avis c'est parce que plusieurs choses peuvent diviser dans ce jeu :
    - le scénario et ses thèmes principaux : la haine, l'amour, la mort, la vie, la séparation, le lien père-fille, les regrets, la vengeance et ce qu'elle engendre, le pardon, les différentes facettes d'une même histoire.
    - le gameplay : il permet beaucoup de possibilités, on peut jouer tout en infiltration ou en gros bourrin, mais les munitions étant limitées c'est déconseillé, à part peut-être en "facile" où apparemment y a plus d'objets dispos.
    On peut foncer dans le tas à coup de flèches explosives et grosse mitraillette ou trouver la bouche d'aération cachée en hauteur ou l'espace sous le camion. Le mieux étant bien sûr un mélange des deux.
    Sinon on peut aussi tuer tout le monde en attaques furtives comme j'ai vu sur certaines vidéos (après avoir fini le jeu) et là on se rend le jeu particulièrement répétitif je pense. Je vous déconseille de jouer de cette manière.

    Mon avis :
    - Avant tout, parce que j'ai vu des commentaires pas très intelligents dire ça plusieurs fois : oui j'ai joué et fini le 1er y a 7 ans, oui je l'ai adoré, oui j'ai joué au DLC Left Behind où on apprenait l'homosexualité d'Ellie (oui parce que certains découvrent ça maintenant mais on le sait depuis 2014) et NON je ne suis pas senti trahi par ce qui se passe dans cette suite.

    - le scénario : j'ai vraiment aimé. Le parallèle entre les histoires des deux "héroïnes" qui n'en sont pas vraiment, nous fait vraiment réfléchir sur ce qu'est la vengeance et la haine. En tant que joueur, en connaissant tout de l'histoire de chaque côté (n'oubliez pas de lire votre carnet de notes d'ailleurs régulièrement), on en vient à se demander qui a raison et qui a tort, ou si les deux ne sont pas juste aveuglées par leurs émotions et en fait assez identiques au final.
    On se posait déjà un peu la question à la fin du 1er : sauver une personne et condamner l'humanité ?
    Ici à la place des Lucioles on a un peu l'équivalent avec les WLF, sont-ils juste des meurtriers sanguinaires ou ont-ils une raison plus profonde d'agir comme ils le font ?
    Bref, on passe par toutes sortes d'émotions, la joie, la peine, la colère, le sentiment de trahison, et le jeu nous met parfois volontairement dans l'inconfort de la haine, nous force pour nous montrer l'erreur que c'est.
    Un autre bon point c'est que si on fait bien tout, qu'on lit et écoute tout, on a une histoire vraiment complète, du coup pas besoin de DLC, pas de jeu en kit.

    - le gameplay :
    au début, me souvenant de comment j'avais joué lors du 1er, j'agissais un peu pareil : bourrin avec les humains ou en fuite, et très discret avec les infectés. Mais avec le temps j'ai diversifié ma manière de jouer en alternant les deux rendant le jeu bien plus fun et moins répétitif.
    par ailleurs, même si je suis fan d'action-RPG, TLOU 2 n'en est pas un, seulement le skill compte. Vous pourrez améliorer un peu votre barre de vie et améliorer légèrement vos armes, mais ça ne vous rendra pas vraiment plus fort.

    - les graphismes :
    pour un jeu PS4 c'est vraiment très beau. J'y joue sur une PS4 normale mais sur un écran 4k HDR qui a une IA pour simuler l'upscaling qui fait du très bon boulot sur ce jeu et vraiment y a des passages dans la forêt, ou autres environnement où la Nature a repris sont droit, qui sont vraiment magnifiques. Et connaissant bien l'aquarium de Seattle je peux vous dire qu'il est parfaitement reproduit :)

    - la bande son : c'est subtile, jamais dans l'abus, très agréable.

    Alors pourquoi je mets 17 et pas 20 :
    - je pense qu'il aurait fallu plusieurs fins possibles en fonction du ressenti du joueur, avec des choix scénaristiques à faire (même si je sais que ça complique énormément la manière de concevoir le jeu).

    - quelques **** bugs dont un qui m'a gonflé à un moment, Alice (ceux qui ont joué savent qui c'est) m'empêchait de sortir d'une caravane, impossible de la faire bouger ! :(

    - il manque la fameuse roulade avant de parade qu'on retrouve dans plein de jeux d'action, du coup dans certaines situations compliquées c'est difficile d'éviter les balles ou coups.. il faut fuir et se planquer ou attaquer en prenant volontairement des dégâts et espérer avoir suffisamment de vie.

    - l'IA des alliés quand on doit être discret... Pour ceux que ça énerve il y a une option qui permet de régler ça dans "accessibilité - accessibilités des combats - alliés impossibles à saisir".. une fonction qui dit que quand les alliés sont repérés et attrapés (et ils le sont facilement, en tous cas en mode Difficile) ils s'échappent d'eux-mêmes.

I cannot for the life of me see hate for this game just because you dont agree with the storyline. The graphics, animation,detail. Is nothing but sublime...

Because in the next 20 hours devs randomly kill and torture each and every significant character you care about for the sake of stitching together pieces of the "masterpiece" revenge story... Which is actually bits of obsession (Ellie) or heroism (Abby) mixed with pettiness... And ends with a cliffhanger... And then reboots with a fastforward bullcrap and more killing as if we're not tired anymore. And revenge once again.
    Unfortunately, the sheer amount of drama related to LGBTQ(put more letters cause I don't fckn follow who is who anymore) makes this game immune to criticism in mainstream media. It's not subtle, it's not an optional side story to explore, it's definitely not a psychological dilemma. It is "we know better" one-sided crappy opinion shoved in players' mouths and they have to swallow it. Dare to badmouth it and SJW will gank up on your editor-in-chief and force you, as an author of the review, to leave with a brand on your forehead.
    Feel bad for programmers, artists and environmental designers. Game looks gorgeous, just script-writing makes it unplayable after 2-3 hours.    … Expand

    This game his a gem with a storm of emotions and a solid gameplay. He is also one of the most beautiful game of the PS4. I've loved The Last Of Us and the Part II is the Perfect sequel. Enjoy the game and stay away from spoilers !

I didnt think I would review this game initially because I have never felt the need to but I personally love this series and hate to see it be bashed so hard, I know people really disliked this game and thats fine, but I also wish I could change someones opinion on it at least a little just so they can maybe feel what I felt when looking at this game. I also want to point out that I have not actually played the game yet, though I have watched hours and hours of game play and story and re watched many parts again, I also watched all of the negative videos on this game and positive ones. I think you should take a look at this video whether or not your view on the game is mixed bad or good, I think hearing the people that made the game talk about it might give you some more insight to many things that I personally was very confused about though if you dont care or want to like this story then there is no need to watch (links not permitted)
    now im going to start talking about the actual game and not just all of the controversy surrounding it. First off its pretty obvious that this game has some of the best graphics you will see in a while, there are so many small details that you most likely wont even notice and it all joins together and makes the game come to life. Small things like taking out an enemy near water makes their blood dialate with the water making it more clear. The level design is amazing and there is a really nice atmosphere in the rainy city of Seattle. I could go on and on about the graphics but you get the point. The gameplay is really good as well, though the normal mode is pretty easy for some and I think is more for players that wish to experience the story of the game first. Lots of people get bored of this though so if you like more challenging gameplay that puts your skills to the test, you are probably going to love the harder difficulty as it really makes you think about your ammo consumption as you find much less and enemies are just smarter overall. The stealth in this game has some of my favorite stealth scenes I have ever seen, it feels amazing to be hiding in tall grass and sneak around enemies, and tensions are raised whenever you come across dogs as they can trace your cent, all though it is very cool it is also very easy to counter this as throwing any object near the animal will break its trail to you. Weapons feel amazing and the animations for upgrading them are also fun to watch and see what your character will add to the weapon. Sometimes you will enter an area that will make a weapon more beneficial than others, and when fighting zombies or people your weapon selection will most likely change. I was a little disappointed to see how easy the iconic clickers zombies were to take down. Having Ellies unbreakable knife is definitely a nice quality of life after the first game but ultimately just makes zombies not very hard to deal with or seem easy without needing to use nearly as many supplies, though shivs do make a return once you play as Abby which I kind of enjoyed. The game is very immersive especially when you are in those stealth sections, but the one time you will really find your immersion shatter is when your ally walks directly in front of an enemy and the enemy doesn't react, though small talk is much appreciated and made me chuckle a lot and sometimes (very rarely) made me overwhelmed in joy, it is also very nice to be alone for many parts of the game just for immersions sake alone, also making you feel more bad ass talking on so many people solo. The game has many sections made for stealth and given the shortage of ammo you will almost always have, it is best to be stealthy, although you do not have to stealth kill anyone and you could go guns blazing almost whenever you see an enemy group which is a nice choice to have but it is just more difficult.
    The main thing about this game that people cant stand is the story, and I can completely understand why, though personally this story is everything and more than what I had asked for. Not only that but it is one of a kind and doesn't take the normal route most stories take. The large group of people that have seen this story are mainly angry because of Joels death (not that he died but how and when) and the ending which supposedly doesnt make a lot of sense. Im going to back peddle a bit and say that this story is very demanding of you and your feelings and requires you to go into it thinking selflessly about everything and take it for what it is, which is very cool because I dont think I have seen many stories do that to the viewer. Im not going to talk about the story a lot because I am running out of characters so I recommend you watch the video I sent if you wish to try to see this story in a better light because no one is better than the makers of the story to show you.     It is easy to take advantage of just what a milestone this game is. From the environments, to facial animation, to sound design, the list goes on - Naughty Dog has created a masterpiece in the truest sense. Joel set us up on a emotional roller coaster that delivered such a beautiful ending in TLOU part 1. As much as I would like to give this story a negative review I truly believe the narrative is remarkable. Yet there is no redemption in vengeance.

    The ending left me with one question.. How am I supposed to feel?

    Ellie didn't grow from her experience, she simply.. Lost it all. Abby lost her father and all of her friends, yet she continued to suffer. Both characters showed emotional and heavy losses throughout the game but none of these characters were able to grow from their experiences. The game is an emotional wreck and the constant shifts of characters eluded any real meaning that could've made for a more or better less, redemption story.

    Beside the death of Joel the only other part of the game that I got emotional on was seeing a malnourished Abby. Only then did I feel for her character knowing that both characters suffered so much. Because of vengeance? To find justice? We're rewarded with nothing but grief.

The first part of the game is good, despite the poor treatment of joel's death, there are still good game mechanics and game play, good immersion to Ellie's road to revenge. The problem started at the second part of the game, needing the player to control the person that we hate and want us to feel sympathy for Abby. This just don't work as we are already filled with hatred for this character and playing as her is a torture for 10 hrs. We are at a point that we already don't care about her story and just want to get our revenge on her. And what surprise me the most is that, instead if getting the revenge we should be gettin, we get nothing at the end of the game and Ellie still lose everything. Imagine buying a Batman where you play as Robin instead, then Batman gets killed, not by the Joker or Bane or some known villain, but rather by a no name villain that has never been seen in the DC universe until that point right in the beginning of the game... and you're left as Robin to get revenge with the help, not from the Teen Titans or Batgirl or other young heroes, instead from random characters you don't know and don't care about and every now and then you play as the villain forcibly as an attempt to make the plot interesting. It's just bad writing. The game is also very easy with no challenge let's be honest.

    On the technicolor level, game is arguably one of the best ever.
    There is seriously nothing to hate here. The story is not bad, it just makes you feel bad, for several reasons. It'a powerful message.

    Okay so I have a lot to say about this game. I’ll start off with the good stuff. Graphically speaking, it’s probably the most beautiful game on this console generation. There is no auto aim when you start off which adds to theOkay so I have a lot to say about this game. I’ll start off with the good stuff. From the various environments you’ll be adventuring in, its stunning on every aspect. Second, the gameplay is an upgrade. There is no auto aim when you start off which adds to the realism and you will always have two approaches whenever encountering enemies: either use your resources and take them out in the open OR take the stealthy approach and take them out quietly one by one. However, the con of this is that because the story is significantly long, it gets repetitive and becomes dreadful at a certain point. The game also adds puzzles as well as letters written by different factions & groups. There are also safe combinations that provide valuable goods if you’re a person that loves exploring a game to its entirety (like me). A lot of jump scares in the game also give it a horror feeling. There were several instances where I was on the edge of my seat.
    Now that the good stuff is out of the way, the negative factors of the game is primarily it’s storytelling. It’s hard not to mention it but the last few hours of the game are utterly pointless and meaningless. Since I’m striving to make this review as spoiler-free as possible, you will have the opportunity to play as another character. Essentially, what you do with this character, is complete meaningless tasks and it takes away from Ellie’s story - which is what we wanted to see more of. So much so, that you sort of forget of Ellie by the time you’re through with that portion of the storyline. While I won’t discuss the ending, it sort of leaves you with the “what was the point of all this?” In comparison to the first game, there was curve ball thrown but for a valid reason. This has none of that - nothing was achieved with what you see. The game also has A LOT of politically correct BS in it. I guess it’s their attempt to try to make the game as inclusive as possible. Overall, this could’ve been a much better game. And it pains me to say it because there was potential for it to be a great game. DO NOT rely on the critics who are praising this game. Due to the story alone, I’d say it’s a 3/10, or 1.5/5. Wait for it to go on sale.    … Expand

    this game is a disappointment story wise, the main reason for purchasing' yes the graphics are nice and so on, but killing your franchise on a second game out... FFS you deserve everything that is coming to you naughty dog.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
