This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have wrote so many reviews and signed many petitions that I will keep it to the point with my reasoning behind my rating. My personal opinion follows: I think that the reason why The Last Of Us part 1 was such a success was the relationship between Ellie and Joel. You watch the beautiful character development between the two. However you get to part two and it completely destroys everything from the last game. Not only is it just a disrespect to fans, but Joel deserved a more dignified death. Lastly the game forces you to play a character you despise and want dead. Then tries to forcefully make you pity them and understand their reasoning. The game then makes you fight against Ellie, the one person you root for the whole time. I dont care about any other controversy. Transgenders? Lesbians? Gore? I don't mind any of it. The only reason I didn't give it a 0 was because the gameplay was nice, while the story was poor. Expand

Being a fan of the first game and actually considering my all time favorite, having played the campaign, at least 15 times and probably thousands of MP hours, and to this day i play it once a year with the hopes of reliving the experience i once had with the game. My love for the first game has compelled me to raise my voice, tell these companies that we are still the ones who buy your games, you cannot simply disregard the fans and everything that made the first game click with us for the pursue of some ambitious yet risky narrative that YOU KNOW will divide your fanbase.

The only reason i giving it a 4 is because its enjoyable for the most part, gameplay-wise, its beautiful and if you haven't played the first game or didnt care about it, you will probably like this one.

Disappointed with the game, disappointed to encourage young people to use drugs ... the story is disappointing, disappointing, sad to see a game 7 years later with this result. Just like the game, the team must have smoked a lot of marijuana to create the game the way it was finished. A spoiled, unfortunate AAA ...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 long years my excitement for this game was unmeasurable. The amazing characters and story of the first game kept me replaying the story over and over again with the same emotional effect each time. The Last of Us Part 2 is a flawed story with underdeveloped and unlikeable characters and very bad pacing. Throughout the story I was dumbfounded at the key decisions made by the developers at naughty dog.

Let’s begin with the death of Joel. Now I am fine with naughty dog killing off Joel however the stupidity of the way this happens and the disrespect shown to the characters of Joel and Tommy is insane. The death of Joel seems to be used as a scapegoat for the lack of story ideas of the game developers sending Ellie on a basic revenge plot that contradicts itself throughout.

The game wants you to feel angered by Joel’s death fuelling the player to engage on a quest for revenge against the WLF and Abby, however it also tries to make the player understand the actions of Abby with most attempts being unsuccessful just proving the unlikeability of Her as a character.

One of the worst decisions in my opinion was to replace the Ellie and Joel relationship with Abby and lev it felt like the developers didn’t know what to do with Abby for her 3 day Seattle period so they sent her on a side quest that has nothing to do with the overall game, in my opinion it’s only included to allow naughty dog to milk this series of a part 3 (the adventures of Abby and lev). Abby and Ellie’s story whilst in seattle should run along side each other if we are to truly relate to the characters as we would kill a character as Ellie (Owen as an example) and when we go to playing as Abby and are interacting with Owen the player does not care (just need to mention Owens terrible flat voice acting, I have never seen a more uninteresting character).

And now onto the ending where Ellie leaves her family to finish Abby off and doesn’t because of a Joel flashback, the developers want the player to understand that Ellie has now forgiven Joel for lying all those years ago even though the entire length of Ellie’s story was about avenging Joel. I find it hard to describe my feelings towards this ending as I see it in many ways and I know that it does work if you look at it in the right manner however this can be very hard as naughty dog have strayed so far from what this game was originally about

The main message that naughty dog try to send is that REVENGE IS FATAL! Ellie loses everyone she loved like she explains in the first game, and Abby loses all of her close friends

    I have very mixed feelings!

We all know the redeeming qualities of this game...

    Graphics and Sound (10/10)

TLOU2 is one of the most beautiful Games I have ever played. The graphics were really detailed, with realistic characters, detailed hair and what I loved the most, was how they recreated Seattle. The sounds were amazing as well. Everytime Ellie had to jump a long distance, you really heard how exhausted she was, every destroyed window sounded like the window we sat next to was just shattered in the moment, the window in the game did. Those are just a few examples.

    Gameplay (9/10)

TLOU2 excels over TLOU due to improvements in the Gameplay. Fighting and shooting got clearly improved, making every fight fun, the dodging mechanic allowed you to just beat up runners in close combat more easily and to dodge new, bigger enemies. New hiding mechanics like crouching in tall grass, impoved the gameplay for me personally as well. For me looting was an essential and fun part of the gameplay, but I get, why some people dont like it. Well its a survival horror and you dont have to loot everything if you dont want to. 9/10 because of a few bugs I saw.

    Atmosphere (10/10)

Its a suvival horror game, that always made you feel anxious in a lot of situations and got you emotionally carried away a lot of times. I had moments were I was really scared, some were I was really angry at characters and some were I was sad and had to cry some tears.

    Story (9/10)

For me the story of TLOU2 was great. At the moment a character we all loved died, I was really angry at the antagonist and wanted to kill this person and everyone of them so badly. Progressing through the story with everything that happened you saw how Ellie was destroyed by all that hate in her. She turned into a violent person, killing everyone in her way to the Goal, just like Joel. I loved that decision. And the moment you played as the antagonist you felt a bond with her as well, making the end game emotionally really hard to play. If you get carried avay with your emotions like this, the game mus be great

at the end i was screaming at my tv and begging ellie to not kill abby , because she was so close to become a monster she was trying her best to be like joel getting revenge torturing making people talk but she just couldn't take it anymore and she finally accepted her mistakes and found out revenge is a pointless cycle without any result, lev made abby to understand this fact but ellie needed more time but hopefully she did get the point , for me it showed that in ellie there is some humanity left ,

it's kind of funny because when I've started to read some comments toxic people just reminded me the serephites, group if people with some crazy beliefs and just cannot accept their mistakes and give this game another shot and when others trying to open upsome facts for them they just refuse to listen and simply attack

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the story last night I have no choice but to give this a top score. An absolutely fantastic game, from the visuals and world creation, game mechanics and audio, it really is the best of the console generation. The story is where I’ve seen many complaints and after playing all the way through, I just don’t get many of those complaints and really wonder if they had actually played the game or rated based on spoilers. Joel’s death (triggered by revenge for Abby’s father) was the catalyst for Ellie’s revenge adventure of her own, so Joel had to die early to set this up. No point keeping him around for 8 hours first like some people have commented. You get him again through flashbacks which further help explain key story points. And Then I’ve seen complaints that Ellie sparing Abby was a wrong choice, but it is exactly what was needed to break the cycle of revenge. She needed to go after Abby one last time because of the PTSD she had from Joel’s death, she couldn’t calm, and then after the Trials getting there and the pain inflicted on her, and then seeing the trauma that Abby and Lev, when she had revenge in her hands she realised that she no longer needed it. Whether or not I would have preferred Joel to live or Abby to die does not make the story bad. The story was just what it needed to be. I’ve already started my New Game +. Play the game, and see it through. Amazing. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m a huge naughty dog fan so this one hurts but it needs to be written. The original was a masterpiece so I could not wait for a sequel. 7 long years later and finally it’s here. The game is visually stunning, the gameplay is similar to the original with a few new additions and a few items have been removed. The major issue with this game is the story. I feel as gamers that we develop a relationship with the main characters that is far more deep and complex than that of characters in a movie. As a grown man I feel that it is in our DNA to want to look after and protect the people in our lives and we fully experienced the ups and downs of doing this in part 1 when playing as Joel. They have taken that from us. Wesley on we witness one of our favourite game characters being beaten to death with a golf club. After everything we went through we wait 7 years for this! The enthusiasm to play the game instantly drains from the player. We’re then forced to play as the person that murdered our favourite character. We do not want to play as this person. We want them dead, erased from history like this sequel never happened. The series is ruined. There will be zero interest in a 3rd title and I’ll have serious doubts about ever buying a naughty dog game again that from us Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is delightful and devastating game. It lands entirely differently once you play it. You cannot watch it or read it to feel what the game wants you to feel - it is a breathtaking work of interactive art.

There are some challenging, divisive and risky-as-hell choices, no question. They won't work for everyone and its clear they are not supposed to. But,the craft and passion that went into creating this game is STAGGERING. The team deserves way more respect then they are getting. People worked to the bone to craft an experience like this. It does something that only a video game can do. Many people call the writing bad and disagree with the story that the creators wanted to tell. Totally fine, everyone has their own emotions and reactions.

The ability to make us feel so intensely and really spend time in a world and its characters is powerful. After the climax fight scene with Ellie and Abby before the prologue, my hands were literally shaking, I couldn't sleep I was so awake and I was so conflicted. I didn't want either character to die. I went on a journey of hatred and revenge turning into empathy along with the characters.

Naughty Dog knew exactly what they were doing. The intention and design is bold and clear.
They could easily have made something everyone liked. They could have given people heroic, meaningful deaths and happy endings but that wouldn't be true to the world. They chose to tell a deeply upsetting, visceral and challenging story that is ultimately about how hard it is to experience empathy and breakthrough the haze of rage that is hate. It explores why forgiveness is so goddamn hard.

This game makes you hate someone to depth of our soul and then challenges you to grapple with that feeling. It is intense. The game delights in quiet moments between humans and guts you with trauma and tragedy right after. It portrays women respectfully and LGBTQ relationships as mundane and normal. We don't exist in a vacuum, same-sex relationships are normal relationships and trans people exist- they experience tremendous discrimination and violence, the game accurately portrays this and does not dwell on it. The message is that we are not that different. Its not forced anymore than a straight relationship or white male protagonist is. I really enjoyed the relationships and characters - some are better than others and certain motivations are strange but they feel like real people.

The creators of this game knew they were not creating a beloved story. They told a hard story for a dark time that underneath its bleakness and violence does tell a story of hope. Making people relate to these traumatized, battered and broken characters was not simple. By the end, I would argue that the Abby portion of the game is better than Ellie's and it gave me a real understanding of how Ellie is perceived by her enemies. This game has no heroes and no heroic deaths. I think a lot of the emotion in it is that people came into it treating Joel and Ellie like that. The version of our world that Last of Us portrays has none. Only people surviving and clinging to those close to them.

There are tremendous parallels drawn between Joel, Ellie and Abby that build your ability to empathize. But, Abby is not Ellie. She is Joel. A broken person who has so much red in their ledger that they have been hardened to violence or remorse. The person isn't a sociopath but their bitter outlook is oppressive and catalyzed by the brutal murder of someone close to them. An act of forgiveness and empathy begets more. They slowly regain humanity and their life becomes about caring for a child who need love and protection. There are parallels to Ellie as well - Ellie kills Abby's closest friend due to revenge, Ellie kills a pregnant woman as Abby was going to kill Dina, neither of them have the context or understanding of what really happened. It doesn't matter that Ellie didn't intend to kill Mel or Owen even Alice. Both characters experience the rampage of other only by seeing the devastation. They do not empathize or care, it breeds intense hatred because all they see is their loved ones being brutally murdered. Abby and Lev are just as sympathetic and traumatized as Joel and Ellie. The is a bleak, harsh world - no one is a hero. People find hope in those closest to them.

To not give this game credit for everything it achieves regardless of the story or writing means you are trying to hate it.The world, the moments, the feel, the time it takes with the characters. There are so many meticulously crafted elements working in tandem to elevate this experience to something more than a game, a story or just entertainment.

Sure, many people didn't enjoy the choices the creators made. I didn't like everything either. I've been thinking about this game a lot since I played it though. This studio didn't pander and it used intense hatred to deliver a message of empathy.

IMO,play this game even if you hate it

First, why the hell Joel and Tommy would trust a bunch of random people and say their real name?Joel's death was awful they tripped
Second, the fact that they MAKE you Control abby, sometimes is Just depressing, without even counting the false advertising.
Third,It would be way more interesting If abby was marlene's daughter or something, cuz i hated this stupid ass Idea that the random doctor npc became one of the most important person in the whole history, just stupid.
Last ,ellie's redemption was just stupid, she killed a whole lotta people just to forgive the **** that ended her life, thank god she ended up alone. But the gameplay is so good that sometimes MAKE the history enteresting.Anyway 6/10 BECAUSE of the graphics and the gameplay, cuz History is whack

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The biggest disappointment in my gaming history. I played through the first game at least 20 times, just to have it all mean absolutely nothing with this pathetic sequel. -Joel And Tommy would’ve NEVER walked into a room with that many strangers, they survived 25 years in the apocalypse. Joel spotted an ambush in the first game simply by the way the guy was screaming ‘help.’ -The game tried so hard to make Ellie unlikeable. She is the polar opposite of the Ellie we knew and loved. No charisma, they made her out to be a monster. While glorifying Abby. -Speaking of Abby, WE DON’T GIVE A **** ABOUT ABBY. You introduced her and tried to get us to care about her past. You tried to cram it all into one game, and tried to make her out to be the hero. We bought the game for Ellie and Joel, not for a piece of **** character that came out of nowhere. ‘The daughter of the guy Joel killed’ give me a break. Joel killed hundred of people and not one of their family came after him. It’s the apocalypse. Such lazy writing. “Oh let’s take one of the NPC’s Joel killed and humanize them, make them relevant somehow and BOOM! We have our antagonist.”

-The trailers deliberately deceived us. -A Pregnant woman can barely move without being uncomfortable. She sure as hell can’t kill clickers, run, jump over obstacles, lift heavy objects, etc. Just the ‘Female Power’ propaganda being shoved down our throats.

-FEMALE POWER. We love females, we’re not savages. But the whole ‘anti-male’ narrative that I felt the entire game is so exhausting. ‘This is way better than anime’ is a line from one of the male characters, as the females roll their eyes, implying that he’s an anti social idiot who hasn’t experienced nearly as much as these ‘heroic females.’ -A FEMALE CANT BE AS BUFF AS ABBY NATURALLY, WITHOUT STEROIDS. She looks like a She-Hulk. -A lesbian relationship, smoking weed, and a trans character being used as a ‘woke token’ for brownie points with the media is a terrible thing to glorify. We don’t care about that stuff. We just wanted to see Ellie’s relationship with Joel grow and flourish. -NO SATISFACTION. Ellie murdered hundreds of people throughout the game, just to have the ‘revenge is bad’ realization at the end. Didn’t even kill Abby. AS IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH:
The biggest sin against The Last of Us fanbase is not even preparing us that we would be spending 10 HOURS, HALFWAY THROUGH THE GAME, PLAYING AS A CHARACTER YOU WERE JUST INTRODUCED TO, WHO JUST MURDERED YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER. Didn’t even mention it at all. Oh, and not only that, but that part of the story starts at the most climatic part of this pathetic story. So you’re left wanting to speed run Abby’s storyline, just to get back and see what happens. Oh! Your skill tree and weapon upgrades that you put so much effort and time into? Bye-bye. Completely resets. All weapon upgrades, and skills, are reset. I talked about how amazing The Last of Us was for so many years, telling my friends that it’s the greatest game I’ve ever played. I’ll continue to play it, but I’ll spend the future telling them that part two is genuinely the worst game I’ve ever played. Positives? The graphics and gameplay are top notch. If only they used those mechanics to give us the story we deserved, instead of desecrating it’s existence.

Although, I don't like how the game has forced irrelevant political views in the story, and there was no multiplayer provided like it's predecessor had. I have not yet finished the game but I'm greatly enjoying it at the moment, the section of the game where you play as Abby feels like a chore, but overall would recommend it to anyone that enjoyed the first game, feels really similar.

EDIT: Just completed the game and the emotions are overwhelming, for a game we've all been waiting for 10 years it did exceptionally well, takes me a lot to tear up, and the ending did that. I can't stop thinking about the final scene of the games and Abby's survival, does this leave it open for a third game? Or maybe a cheeky DLC? Thanks naughty dog, I had my doubts, but it really lives up to the first game, which was a work of art.

I was VERY uncertain how to feel about how early our favorite character from the last game would get killed off and that most of this games middle section was following a brand new character but by the last 3/4ths it made perfect sense. I started to care for this character as well and understand why she did the things she did. Having the two mains not kill each other in the end but still letting ellie beat Abby within an inch of her life helped the pain of Joel and a few other characters sting less. This game was the most tense and heartbreaking experience I've had in a video game. The animation, attention to detail, gameplay, and art of this game has me absolutely floored. I firmly believe and after having played the game 3 times, which is a very good game, its technical and sound section is perfect, its gameplay is as fun as the first, but this one perfects it excellently, the music is magical and always transmits everything a splendid feeling, the story, I think it is good, maybe it is not a masterpiece like the first The Last Of Us but it is very good, I understand that the player does not like it in the first instance, I hated it the first Once, but after playing it a second time and analyzing everything, I concluded that if it really transmits so many feelings to you and in such a faithful way, hate, courage, violence, sadness, tiredness, just magnificent. Maybe Abby's character is the worst of all, and that's what makes me give her a 9 instead of a 10 but I sincerely believe that Naugthy Dog did an excellent job for the rest. My only point against it is that Abby's development was not the best it could have been, maybe if they had presented him before seeing how he kills Joel, the player could have better sympathized with him.
In short, The Last of Us Part 2 is a very good game, I could say that it far exceeds the first The Last Of Us in most sections.
the only thing that remains just a little below is in the field of history, just a little.

In this game, they took loveable characters and said yes, they're sympathetic, but they're not the heroes and you're not going to forget it. and honestly? that's incredible writing, because it /hurts/. it would've been so easy to tell a similar story with characters we don't know so it doesn't 'ruin' ellie and joel, but that's the point- we feel it because they matter to us, this whole game is so personal to gamers because of the successes of the first game. we're invested, we care, we want them to live and we want them to be happy and that's not what this story is. they're complex, they're traumatised, they make bad choices. but they love each other. we love them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part II is the sequel to The last of us. Set five years after the first game, The last of us part II is a game about the cycle of revenge/violence, and does a very good job of setting a dark, gritty, and depressing atmosphere. The game also sports incredible top of the line graphics and world design but still has mediocre gameplay. However the problem arises with the story and narrative, rather early in the game (somewhere around the two hour point) the main protagonist from the first game (Joel) is killed off. although his death is what kick starts the main plot, many people including myself agree that his death felt very rushed, meaningless, and retcons his established personality traits from the previous game, almost as if it were done simply for shock value. after Joel's death you embark to Seattle as Ellie on a mission for revenge, as Ellie you are joined by Dina, Jesse, and Tommy as the four set out brutally killing members of Abby's crew in retaliation. Abby by definition is the antagonist in this story but her character is done no help by being thrown under the bus by killing Joel with no explained motivation, not until halfway through the story when you are forced to play from Abby's perspective are you given her motivations for killing Joel. You are forced to play as her for a majority of the game as the writers try and make you sympathize with her character. I aswell as many other people were unable to sympathize with her due to pre-established resentment from her actions which led to a rather miserable experience for her portion of the game. The ending of the game is made worse by the fact that Ellie sacrifices everything in her life to seek her final revenge against Abby only to not kill her and let her free. The underlying message of the game is that revenge is bad however this led to an abysmally un-satisfying ending and story. In my own opinion the fact that Joel and Abby ran into each other is deus ex machina and unbelievable made worse by how in an incredibly suspicious situation, Tommy and Joel throw all of their previous survival knowledge from their 24 years of being in the apocalypse out the window. Joel's death feels skimmed over and too convenient to the plot. There really wasn't any relationship between two characters that felt as meaningful as the one shared between Joel and Ellie therefore i found myself not caring about the other characters on screen. The entire game I watched my favorite characters from the last game lose as the antagonist got her way with every situation she found herself in. after completing the game i feel like i wasted my time even playing it at all. For fans of the first game the sequel is a huge middle finger as you watch your favorite characters get dumped on, half of them being shells of who they were in the first game. the story feeling completely pointless with a terrible ending. The intentional misleading and false advertising in the trailers. and Naughty Dog's DMCA antics leading up to the release of the game. This game would be a one or two out of ten if weren't for the graphics and world design, and after finishing it i feel like i wasted my time and money. If you're a fan of the first game i strongly DO NOT recommend buying The last of us part II, however if you're a casual gamer looking for a gritty, brutal, stealth combat game i'd recommend picking this up on sale as it is not worth the 60$ retail price. I believe that if Naughty Dog wants to save this series for a third game they either need to remake the story of the second game or deem it as a passion project independant and non cannon to the first game. feel free to disagree with my review as it is my opinion based off my experience with the game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't want to just say don't play this game but I found I lost the motivation to really quickly. Technically it's great for this generation and there are some nice world building touches. And here's the but why build a game that was built on the relationship of two people surviving a world and then kill that relationship in one swoop.

Who wrote this, were they watching Rambo last blood. Great games and films are built on story's that are compelling, very few of us watch films or play games where there is no hope. We chase fantasy.

People who gave it ten out of ten where is your mortality and what were you playing.

Ellie so you have been living in a community for 4 years and a safe place with a good quality of life and it turns you into a commando. Happy for the equality nods and there changes that is so progressive in the gaming industry but give us a break not putting the effort in to explain the character journey.

I got bored of killing people trying to survive so quickly, I don't need a game to tell me what's right or wrong. Most who play games know what's right or wrong.

Also did you forget about character development. Making us play a character were hunting do you think that helps keep us stay on mission when we hate her for killing Joel?

Given everything that is going on in the world today you thought selling a game that shows us nothing but violence was a good idea. Even though Ellie comes to her senses at the end we have all still killed hundreds of characters to get us there.

Naughty Dog you write great stories that is your gift. This is junk, this will have come from someone who thought they were making a statement but is not in touch with the real world. You clearly all were too scared to say what you felt, you should be ashamed.

You also have made a game that some idiot will say games promote violence and to the very few you have achieved that. Bravo

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first few hours were compelling and emotionally driven but the other 2/3 of the game purely drags two unispired characters in Ellie and Abby. Ellie has been striped of any personality trait and just becomes this emotionally wreckles train from one scene to the other while Abby is the personification of super woman since she can't be hurt by anything or anyone, the only times she cries it seems very forced and for the rest of her scenes and gameplay there is just not enough weight to carry an emotional compelling story. After dragging me through 16 hours of Abby time I find myself in California trying to finally kill the killer of my favorite character. Only to finish with the character who was suppose to kill her setting her free.

Now I get it, I really get the message, it's powerful but because it reconnects to Joel. That final scene were she can't play the guitar correctly because she lost her two fingers, it was heartbreaking but it needed for her to finish what she started even if it cost her what little humanity she had left. That would've been a devastatingly beautiful ending on this crazy world. But here we are, and to be very clear with this, I don't hate this game, I don't hate Abby or any of the new characters, this is not about hate, it's about dissatisfaction with a story that promised a full arc and only delivered half of it. As Joel very well stated: "I wish things would've been differente but they ain't."

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Non Spoiler Review: If you enjoyed the last of us 1, then you would probably enjoy this game too. The graphics are amazing, the soundtrack is phenomenal, and the gameplay is an continuation of the first game. I would recommend playing on Survivor since I feel you can get the full experience of surviving the land of the last of us on this difficulty. I would say lower difficulty made the game significantly less fun. The scavenging is limited in survivor, the enemies AI are more random and unpredictable. Once they see you, they hit hard. Most of the time overwhelming you or one-shoting you. There are bosses in this game that are extremely fun, makes me want to replay for those bosses alone (again on Survivor difficulty). For the non-spoiler review of the story, it reminded me a lot of the Last of Us 1 story in a lot of ways. Last of us 1 and the Last of us 2 can both be described as tragic stories. You will see a lot of things that will make you uncomfortable but its there to tell a story about Ellie. In the end, I was emotionally invested, and felt the same as I did in the end of The Last of Us 1. I would give both games 9/10s

    SPOILERS
The story elements reminded me a lot of the original last of us 1. Joel original goal was to get Ellie to the fireflies to be the cure for humanity but took Ellie away so he wouldn't have to experience the death of another child. In Last of us 2, Ellie's original goal was to murder the people who murdered Joel. In the end, she forgives Abby for what she did and lets her go.

Both games had a goal only to be turned over. The controversy of the ending again reminds me of the Last of Us 1. Many people were confused and upset for what Joel did. Now, its Last of Us 2 time to experience the same backlash. Some people call the Last of us 2 pointless but the Last of Us 1 was a pointless tale too. Joel was delivering the last hope for humanity but decided to keep her so he can have a daughter again.

The Last of us 2 is tragic story. It shows how damaging selfishness can be and how important forgiveness is. Throughout the story, Ellie was losing everyone around her. Her actions led to the destruction of her relationship with Dina, the death of Jessie, the injuries on Tommy, and her losing her ability to play the guitar (in some aspect, ill come back to it. ). On the final battle, She got the upper hand on Abby but ultimately decided not to kill her as Ellie gets a memory of her last moment with Joel.

Despite Joel ambition to save Ellie. The action destroyed their relationship with each other, Ellie wanted to sacrifice herself for the cure. She saw what Joel did as devastating. It took 4 years for Ellie to finally forgive Joel and understand why he did what he did. That reminder of forgiveness is where Ellie finally realize that killing Abby wouldn't fix anything. Killing Abby won't bring Joel back, won't fix her relationships, won't bring back her friend. The path for revenge lead her to a destructive path.

Now talking about Abby, very similar events occur. After the death of her father by the hands of Joel. She couldn't stop thinking about her revenge. She spent her time training and looking for Joel hindering her relationship with Owen. After she killed Joel, Abby lost all her friends. She gets the people involve with her hurt such as Yara who sacrificed herself to save Lev and Abby. She was then kidnapped by slave traders where she was beaten and tortured for months. Her relationship with the young boy Lev brought her back to reality (sounds familiar?) . She learned to forgive Ellie and move on. It just took Ellie a few more months to get to that point.

The ending is very emotional. It ends with Ellie trying to play her guitar with her missing fingers, only to find out she can't. She lost everything trying to kill Abby, even the last gift Joel gave her. I don't think its all bad in the end, since Ellie can learn to play the Guitar the other way. Like playing the guitar from a different perspective. That's just a hypothesis parallel on my part.

The ending is meant to be ambiguous because its up to the player to decide why Ellie did the things she did. Like how it was up to the player to decide why Joel did the things he did.

Everything is unmitigatedly gore-y and grim-dark, and unrelentingly miserable and awful- Bright spots only exist to highlight the misery to follow/precede them. There is nothing good about the story of this game. Everyone loses, always, but mostly the player who is forced into the role of absolutely insane people. These protagonists constantly ruin everything for everyone and themselves. I wish this was an exaggeration. There is no hope to be found anywhere. The notion that something can only be "artistically mature" if it's unending constant misery, has plagued the entertainment industry for half a decade now, and i very much hope this was the culmination.
Some people have said that the game at the very least can not be a total 0 rating, because of it's great accessibility, sound and environment design, and mostly workable gameplay.
This however is a very linear, very "cInEmAtiC" game, so all these things exclusively serve to support the story. And no matter how great the accessibility, physics, texture, smell and haptic feedback simulation of a program is, if the program exclusively simulates excrement, it is still trash.

Pros: Stunning visuals, pretty decent gameplay (more fluid than TLOU)
Cons: Poor story, poor dialogue, too much Abby, Joel is a shell of his former self, Ellie lacks personality compared to TLOU, too many collectibles (especially notes).

Dina had nothing humorous or original to say. Come to think of it, most of the characters had nothing unique, contemplative, funny, or interesting to say.
I wish I hadn’t bought this game so early. Naughty Dog will not get my money ever again.

I really really really enjoy this game, flawed as it is. Personally, I even think it's a better game then the first in terms of my own taste, but recognize the issues this game has (mostly with the games poor pacing that takes away from story momentum) that keeps it from being a perfect 10/10 game

The graphics are great and the gameplay is good, but thats not why I, and many other people, bought this game. Joel dies in such a wasted manner, and so many characters also just kind of die. The worst sequel story ever presented, period!
Authors tried to show the human side of Abby by making us play her story line, but failed miserably. Disgusting. Technical and art side of the game is good however.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Do not listen to the trolls that have review bombed this game. This game is not perfect, but it’s damn near close. Everything in this game is fantastic, the only thing some people have a problem with is the story, that’s it. The game is wayyy darker than the original, which is kinda unnecessary. Joel is brutally killed about 2 hours into the game. Everyone is upset about this, because they liked him. It seems they didn’t realize Joel is the bad guy of the original game... if you actually understood the story in the first game you will appreciate the story told in Part 2. The main problem I have is the ending, which is a pretty big disappointment and pretty dumb tbh. Apart from that this game is great, whether you like the story points in this game or not, you will be heavily immersed throughout. Would absolute recommend buying it! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is horrible! Such a waste of time I can deal with Joel’s death it gives a motive to Ellie’s actions. Ellis sexuality was fine to each there own I’m glad the devs took a bold action but the games ending was just bad Abby was a horrible character with no redemption. So many other games have done the “ killing you won’t change anything” trope much better also if the message is revenge is not good then don’t make me play a character like Abby who constantly talks about other survivors as savages who deserve what they get. This game would’ve been better if Abby had just joined her friends. Overall a waste of time due to an ending unable to match its predecessor and its gameplay. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A lot of people just keep mentioning the death of Joel being a huge disaster of the game and story, where in reality this happened early in the game and there are tremendous amount of character building throughout the game. But people just keep focusing on their hatred about how the game doesn't go in the direction they expect to see, and refuse to look at the other side of the coin through Abby's eyes. This is funny as it reflects the reality of the world of 2020. Expand

I think even the people who hate this game agree on how absurdly beautiful it is, the graphics, the sceneries, the sounds... There's no denying that this is a 10 in all technical categories. Now about the story, I saw the spoilers when they leaked the game, I heard all the bad stuff people said about the game when it came out, and because of that I had super low expectations about it, butI think even the people who hate this game agree on how absurdly beautiful it is, the graphics, the sceneries, the sounds... Now about the story, I saw the spoilers when they leaked the game, I heard all the bad stuff people said about the game when it came out, and because of that I had super low expectations about it, but I wanted to play it anyway, and damn, I'm so glad I did! People really don't know the difference between a great story that makes you upset and a bad story. No bad story can make you feel this many feelings, no bad story can cause such an impact on people, and what an impact this one left on me, I want to play it again but at the same time I don't, I loved the gameplay and the story (even if it wasn't what I wanted or expected), but I don't want to feel all those things again, this marked me, and that's something only great storytelling can do.
I'll never forget this game and how it made me feel.
(But really, even if you have problems with the game or just hates the story it's so stupid to give a game like this a zero, like come on, I know you want it to be a zero so bad, but you know it's not, stop lying to yourself)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I hate to say that this anticipated game wasn't up to par with what I and many other fans expected as, this game had its positives and its negatives (mostly surrounding story). First lets get the positives out of the way, this game has incredible graphics a type of beauty I haven't seen much in other games as it always captivated me in the playable locations. Talking about locations, another positive are the levels where you play at although still somewhat linear this time they offer you many ways to approach a situation such as combat plus this game gives you more options to explore which I loved as in some levels I found myself usually taking more time looting than going to the main objective. Also I would like to say that the game play or combat was alright as I was hoping for more innovations but i really liked the new addition of the prone as it really helps with stealth. Lastly I would like to shine some light on the accessibility that this game offers as there are many options to fit anyone and any difficulty, With all the positives out of the way now the negatives. The negatives are basically the story but even though it is one negative compared to many positives it can't be brushed off so easily. Especially with games like this , they rely to much on the story hens why its such a huge problem. First off the death of Joel: The fact that Joel died wasn't really why I hated this but more so how early on it is and the way it happened. The way Joel dies is such a disgusting and disrespectful way to take out such a beloved character especially after how much time we have spent into seeing him grow as a person and how much time he has spent surviving just to die like this. Another part I hated was Abby: The fact that the game tries to make you sympathies with her just doesn't work as no matter what she does people will hate her for killing Joel and the 8 to 10 hour of game play with her were the worst parts of the game as all you can think of is just wanting to kill her. Unforgettable characters: The new cast of characters are unforgettable as they have little to no characteristics and apart from Dina you don't get to see much of them. Especially on Abby's side as the whole way through you hate everyone who Abby is friends with apart from some characters and when some of them died I didn't care about their death as they really weren't established. Lastly the ending: By the ending the devs probably thought that you might care for Abby which is probably why Ellie lets her live because I see no other reason that Ellie would let her live as she caused so much pain and damage to her loved ones and her. I think they should have at least given you the option and I hate how the revenge is bad theme leaves Ellie with no one and no thing. In the end i think this game tries to hard to be physiological but instead of doing that right they just paint things as just bad or good. There are many other games that have tackled the same message of revenge being bad as this game does the message terribly in my opinion. This was my personal review of The Last of Us Part 2. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
