First of all hello videogames fans, i hope u get the time to read my review and not pull the trigger to quickly, also sorry if my english is bad (not a native speaker). Secondly I would like to talk about how much saddens me seeing in every place the comments for both lovers of the game and people that dislike it, being targeted as swj a**hole for ones and as homophobic, transphobic, misogynist...for others, is really sad that a video game has been reduced to this arguments for defending and at the same time criticize it. I am one that without any leaks played the game and personally wanted to like it but couldnt bring myself to it. First of all voice acting (im my country at least), graphics, ambientation... is perfect and I think that nobody can doubt that, it makes the game beautifull and lively. But not everything that shines is gold, at least that was the case for me. Yeah, I'm going to talk about the story, in this regard the first part of the game was "good" but lest not go ahead of ourselves and start from the beggining, the dead of someone so loved and controversial at the same time by everybody in this universe. I must say, that I don't consider Joel a hero, for me was a morally grey character that had done a lot of bad things, and that with the ending of the first game u could say perfectly that he was a selfish, lets say "father". Indeed he was, but I think that a great number people in that situation would have done the same thing, and I think, that because of that so many people could relate to him in some way. Now to the last of us part 2, so many people knew that joel was going to die, but that way of dying... I know what ND tries to do, killing someon so loved in such a brutal way just to cause hate in the people and give more sense to the revenge plot point but...why cause so much hate for that action and then put abby as the "morally white" character in the history? For me personally, it doesnt have any sense. I've read people saying, "If u think that is because u haven't understand the game, this a dark history with grey characters" I buy you the is a dark history (the sadness, emptiness and hate that I've felt is there to prove it) but the approach that they take is not based in grey moral characters, u have a dark one, Ellie in her quest for revenge, and a good/light one with Abby trying really hard that players like her, when is really dificult, again in a subjective and personal way at least, to do it. Abby is represented as an animal, child helper (that scene in the campment with the kids, trying to make everyone look good, and what a coincidence, being also in the scene that guy that spits on joel) trying to give u the impression that "hey, they are also a good person". As I was saying I couldn't feel that much empathy. This was also caused by, what I consider a bad choice of revenge for Abby. Don't get my wrong, I understand that Abby wants to revenge his father, that medic that u kill in the first game, that for everyone until this game wasn't more than a random npc. In that regard the same history could have been applyed to any of the fireflies memebers relatives, friends, etc. and I consider that is not well developed, they try to put everything togehther in this game (Abby's and Dad's past, which was someone that was a generic npc, and at the same time feel sorry for her despite how bad the game started with Abby). About Ellie part, I must say that it was alright, I know that the seek of revenge can make the best person become the worst against your enemies, but she was really rude to people that was close to her. And the ending for me is the worst part, the only person that lose everything is Ellie (yeah, I know, revenge is bad) but the case is, people try to defend this as "Abby also lose everything", I consider that she is the only of the 2 that, yeah Ellie and company kills all of her friends, but she has the posibility of a future with Leve, taking care of her and having an new "meaning" in life making Ellie at my eyes the only one that in the end lose everything and doesnt even have the option to avenge Joel after having lost herself through that revenge travel, and that really leaves me hearthbroken, sad and empty giving me a really bad taste and making that all the good points that the game has perish with it.
    Now a few things that I didnt wrote and I would like to put them over here:
    -Didn't talk about gameplay, is good (IA sometimes a bit easy in hardest difficulty, being able to stealth in front of enemys, maybe bugged I don't know) but pretty much the same as in the first one, liked the improvments with the silencer, weapon customization and crafting and the hand to hand combat.
    - Fireflies and trying to make you sympatethic for them, when they are pretty much the same as Joel, if not even more grey than he was, kidnapping people for the shake of finding the cure.
    I hope that if u buy the game you enjoy it, sadly I couldn't bring myself to like it.    … Expand

    This is a masterpiece, why people are giving it 0 out of 10 is bazar. This means they think the game has no merit whatsoever. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is amazing and the story had me gripped throughout. Ignore the naysayers. You have to play the game.

    Brilliant game with good story telling that makes you sit at the edge of you seat the whole way through. The gameplay is really fun with much improved crafting system, new skill trees to upgrade from (10 total), and much improved stealth mechanics, having the prone.

    Yapp yapp yapp, haters is gonna hate, I think there was a reason for every plot decision.     This game really isn't for everyone. But I found this game really beautiful on the graphic side, and that story... man I can't stop thinking about it after three days. In my opinion, this game is worth a buy, and you definitely won't regret it.

    There are some strong sequences in the game but they are well presented & even though this game raises a bunch of new questions, I do strongly feel that by the time the end credits roll, it manages to answer all of them with a good ending.

    In conclusion, this is a must play if you are a fan or not. The sheer quality of this game surpasses most if not all games that are released these days and definitely deserves a buy. Naughty Dog delivers again & comes out with their strongest guns till date.    … Expand

    I just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the bleak story and the settings, graphics, sounds, the acting, dialogue and action were all first-rate. I'm a big fan of stealth level-clearing action and there was plenty of that. The AI was good enough to make it fun. It's definitely a dark story and will make you uncomfortable but it was an interesting experienceI just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the bleak story and the settings, graphics, sounds, the acting, dialogue and action were all first-rate. I'm a big fan of stealth level-clearing action and there was plenty of that. The AI was good enough to make it fun. It's definitely a dark story and will make you uncomfortable but it was an interesting experience playing from the characters point of view. It's one of the few games that I'm likely to play again a second time although with the size of the game I feel like I more than got my money's worth.

    My main frustration was just that for some areas midway through the game the rules had changed from what I'd learnt in the earlier parts meaning I missed collectables or spent a long time trying to get into a room that was not possible at that point.

    Looking back I can't believe how many memorable environments and situations there were. It's a great game.    … Expand

    The game not only justified its existence but it is pretty damn good sequel on its own. One of the best games I’ve played this year; a swan song for the PS4.

    As for the game... I just can't find much to like in this. The gameplay was never a *great* thing outside of occasional multiplayer in the first one, and really the only thing going for this game are its improved graphics and models over the first game.     In addition, part of the gameplay experience is also very bad. The open world design and some unnecessary stories really affect the game rhythm. I want to sleep several times during the game.

Characters show up, and dissapear so quickly without really making an impact to the overall narrative. Standouts for the new cast include Lev and Dina, while all the characters you know and love give knockout performances. Sadly, the good just barely outweighs the bad, and for that reason I give The Last of Us Part ll a 6/10… Expand

This game feels like it was poorly written and it should never deserve high praise for anything besides the fact that it did put a spotlight on the LGBT community as a positive thing but my main problem with this entire game is the fact that it's supposed to be a revenge story but the only person that got revenge for what they were trying to get revenge for was the person that everyone is hating on even though there's nothing really to hate on her for yes she's not aesthetically pleasing or that much of a relevant character in anything of what we've had and the fact that they killed off from Joel and how they did it was subpar at best and we should never try to say that this game is worth the money that it is asking for because there are major plot holes in the entire game and Ellie from the first game feels non existence her character drive or ark feels small she has no effect on me at all and that sucks because I was such a big fan of the first game yes this entire thing of zombies really scares me and it's a good thing that it does because I play the game simply for the story because I love the fact that Joel was able to redeem being a father in the first one and somewhat of it in the second game which is okay but still they should have went with his death a little different they should have actually killed Abby because without those revenge I don't know this game is just terrible and it should never get anything but a bombed review because it destroyed the legacy of The last of Us and you should never even attempt to try to pick up this game because you'll be wasting your money and wasting your time… Expand

    This game is absolutely incredible. People terrorising the reviews are either unable to empathise, or appreciate masterful story telling. Naughty Dog have created an absolute masterpiece here that left me shook to the core, hit deeply at so many points. This is a must play.

    This is surely one of the best games I have ever played. The way they turn around the story and make you reconsider your actions was terrific and I have never seen anything like that before. The gameplay also is really fun. There are so many ways you can play encounters. You can try to stealth or just go in loud. You can be creative and use aerial attacks or feed enemies to zombies. You must complete the game fully to understand why certain choices were made. Gameplay is perfect.     It's as I already expected from Naughty Dog. A Masterpiece of a game. One of the games my girlfriend enjoys to watch while I am planning. I live the story, the graphics, gameplay. I think i like it even more than the first one

    This game is an incredibly honest, incredibly eye-widening walk through a post apocalyptic world in which morality is grey and people are complex. Bravo to the creators for their boldness and bravo to the voice actors for their performances.

The story is well crafted and executed masterful although the end is a bit ehhhh...The gameplay is just brilliant built on the principle of "if it's not broke, don't fix it" with enough new things to refresh it. Let me tell you a little secret western game devs. People are playing games for entertainment and they'd rather see pretty things while doing it than ugl.. excuse me FUGLY ones!     If the story of a story driven game is not good enough, it isn’t good enough. Abby’s story is good, but she didn’t need to have such a big part. 10 hours of a character nobody cares about. Poor writing altogether and even worse delivery. I’m gonna pretend this game was just a dream Ellie had.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU 1 is my favourite game of all time. This game however, spits in the face of everyone who loved it. The graphics and gameplay is beautiful. The story however, is like bad fan fiction taken off of a college campus for gender studies.
    Everything you can think of that's cliché and "diverse" is put in there without any kind of sense. Having a trans woman kill off the favourite character in the first 30 minutes of the game is awful.
    I sincerly hope that Naughty Dog takes the anger seriously, and don't try to make it about people not being as woke as them. Stories like this don't make the legend that the first game did. They should've looked at the success of the first game and learnt from it, not trash it's legacy for the sake of SJW-idiocy.

    The gameplay is amazing (similar to the first one but enhanced). Graphics and lighting are simply astonishing. Really detailed animations and enriched environments. But what I loved the most is the story.
    I am going to be honest, I was more excited about the gameplay because the story in the first one is just perfect and it is hard to make the second one better. But I am awestruck by how well written the story is. From almost the very beginning I saw that Ellie/Joel are not that different from Abby. I did not fully see her as a villain. She did exactly what Joel did or what Ellie was trying to do. And playing as Abby (which I loved) enforced that feeling even more. My heart was broken when I saw Abby on that pillar. I was looking for a strong, powerful, and simply buff woman. And it hurt to see what Rattlers did to her.
    The ending which I personally think starts with the theater fight and ends with the rolling credits left me a complete mess. I was crying for over an hour. I loved it. Yes, it was sad. But it does not make it bad. These are two different things. The ending and the whole story are very well written. And the fact that some of the events are sad does not make it bad. I cried when Joel was killed. But I cried when I had to fight dying Abby as well. The story leaves you with lots of different emotions and thoughts. And I loved every minute of it.
    I would like to thank the whole Naughty Dog team, the actors, and all other people who worked on this game. This is truly a masterpiece.    … Expand

The first game was great because of the relationship between Joel and Ellie that the player got to experience. It is strange that the developers did not understand that this was the reason for it's success. In the second game there is nothing of that kind. You basically play unlikeable characters (Abby) and also have to endure several very questionable and explicit depictions of gay scenes (you cannot imagine, hard to watch). The first game didn't throw this topic at you constantly and not to that extent, therefore it never bothered me.
    I basically just wanted to play a zombie game with a great story (like the first) - I bought my playstation 4 for the TLOU1 game and waited a long time for the second without checking the spoilers. Good luck to Naughty Dog with selling the next game to that niche market. Apperantly they forgot who their customers are and what they want.
    There are many more problems with this game. You can read them all in many other reviews. The IP is definetly dead after this. Maybe even the developer. Another franchise ruined :(

It deserve better place then the current public reviews. And the developers and artists deserve an applause for their hard works and sacrifices. The story, yes, I got heartbreak in the first few hours, and yes, I hate Abby every bit even to the end. But the ending do make sense. I actually felt a bit joy for the ending, not because Abby live or Ellie forgive... it doesn't matter, I don't even think Ellie has forgave Abby. I felt joy because Joel's life had fulfilled. He got the chance to heard the words that many in real life couldn't, and from there, his story has completed. When I finished the game, I felt sad and emotional, but also amazed by its beauty like I was in first game, and Part 2 got me even further then the first. I disagree to many that a game must be entertained and happy, because that will let us lost the chance to get a good and true story.… Expand

Recomiendo prepararse antes de jugarlo porque consiguen destrozarte junto con Ellie. No se esperen un viaje para disfrutar porque mas bien es uno para sufrirlo junto a los personajes

    While the gameplay and technical aspects of the game are top-notch, the story just falls flat. The characters were just unbelievable as they made illogical decisions. This game is nowhere as good as the first game and upon completion it will leave you upset and disappointed. Avoid the misery. Naughty Dog should make some serious changes on whoever is leading that organization.

    the whole game is not bad but just compare it with rdr2 2018! horse walking animations, and snow effect is not very good! graphically it's not the best game ever! absolutely! AI is a little dumb and enemy doesn't see you often! story is not perfect.

    I think its downright hilarious that the game got review bombed the day of launch by a bunch of babies that won't ever play the game under the excuse that the "story" is bad.     Absolutely brilliant from start to finish!! Graphics and gameplay are amazing and the story is tense and keeps you on your toes. I loved the first game! It was always going to be tricky topping that and i think it did well.

    Not only do they kill the main character at first, but they make you play to "empathize" with an unclean character who didn't even have a really powerful motive for killing Joel. And you have to see when it is f%%&ed.
    UNPLEASANT!
    Abby's father wanted to kill Ellie, Joel had the right to blow her head off.
    Not only that ... Joel saves Abby's life in the bars against the zombies and pays him by blowing his leg off with a shotgun. Complete garbage.
    And finally, the player can't even take revenge on that nasty character by playing with Ellie.
    Playable appearance and aesthetics: Normal, it has some bugs, but the graphics are fine.

    The game is a play manufactured to purposely break Naughty Dog.

Respecto a la venganza me parece bien que ellie trate de matar a la persona que le arrebato lo que mas queria es doloroso incluso para nosotros de jugadores ver la muerte de johel vamos es johel pero fue una buena decicion para que la historia continuara el proposito de la venganza auque las cosas se fueron tornando no todo surge tal como lo tienes previsto no todo lo es este objetivo de solo vengarse y sentirse bien esto va mas alla. Ellie no fue la mejor con johel en muchas ocaciones como lo fue en la ultima platica que tuvieron ellie no podia perdonar a johel por lo que hiso sabiendo johel que lo qie hiso no fue del todo correcto las cosas traen consecuencias como lo es la relacion de ellie con johel talves si no hubieran peleado entre ellos esa noche despues de la fiesta ellie no sintiera el dolor de nisiquiera perdonar a la persona que mas queria arrebatarle esa oprotunidad a ellie de perdonarlo es lo que motiva a elllie a matar a abby. dos personas buscando el mismo objetivo en un inicio.Ellie sintio en ultimo momento que al final no era lo correcto matar a abby rompio ese ciclo de venganza.     Lying to the fans making them not only think JOEL is part of this game in a big way but LYING and Niel D actually saying ELLIE was the only PLAYABLE character in a interview, lie lie lie

    BUT non of that is this game its the lies about a game that doesnt exist, in this game you spend hours playing horrible manchick (no not trans just a woman with HUGE arms, manly body and face) and you have to play 10+ hours of her AFTER she violently kills JOEL, you spend most the game doing things like this, Horrible story telling and decisions forcing gameplay that is just cringe, constant gut punch after gut punch, non stop violence in the worst way with NO REDEMTION for any of these awful character, and forget your favs , Joel gets killed right away Ellie is totally different and is a sad sad mess.

TLOU2 is a psychologist’s worse nightmare. *Spoilers ahead* it deals with unnecessary issues.. like Ellie who is lesbian (who didn’t need to be lesbian, but just was for the sake of it?), Dina who believes she’s is lesbian but is unknowingly pregnant from a recent relationship with a guy (What!? We’re watching teen mom now? Doesn’t know what sexual orientation she is and is brainlessly falling pregnant?), Owen who cheats on his pregnant girlfriend Mel (with Abby, who he has previous history & sexual tension), characters dealing with PTSD, characters almost killing and also killing pregnant women (WTF??), then about a child killing his own mother (and that he had to.. more WTF??).. some real messed up stuff. Was any of this, necessary to be in this game? NO..

    On top of that.. you are forced to play a character you hate, Abby (who kills Joel).. as a gamer you feel betrayed.. So what’s the point of that? You want us to understand or sympathise with her actions of killing Joel? What’s the moral of the story? What is that saying to us? Every bad act that someone does in the real world.. they have a good reason?? it’s so soo messed up.. and stupidly throw in revenge as a good reason to do anything..

    Young impressionable gamers would get brain damage from this game and the psychological and mental issues it deals with.

    I’m sorry Neil Druckmann (writer, director & vice president of Naughty Dog, maybe you had too much power) but you should have listened to your team members who questioned these story choices and pushed back the idea. In theory it may have sounded good, as an idea, to swap characters or to the enemy character half way through and to have all this crazy, messed up characters, relationships and issues.. but it’s not what gamers wanted.. or needed.. it’s not a soap opera or TV series. It’s a massive mis-step on Naughty Dog’s part.

    In the first TLOU you had this great relationship (dad & daughter like, Joel & Ellie) and the dynamic between them was sweet, charming and funny.. his love and care for Ellie to save her, like she was his own daughter was beautiful.. to play and watch.. it should have continued in this game, their adventures or misadventures of survival.. in this scary new world. The dynamic, conversations, characters did not need to be changed.. but you ruined it (Don’t fix / change what’s not broken).

    You destroyed that by killing off our beloved character, Joel.. and bringing in unnecessary characters, messed up story lines and issues.. at the end of the game, when the credits roll I was left feeling.. seriously WTF? Ellie came back home, her partner left her with the baby.. and she loss 2 fingers.. and that’s how you end it?? At least at the end of the first TLOU you are left feeling good with optimism, positivity.. and hope.

    At the end of TLOU2 you are left feeling disappointed and empty.. and your care of characters (and franchise) has gone out the window.

    Graphics, gameplay, music, sound, cutscenes are great.. but the story, characters are a massive let down. Sorry Naughty Dog you missed the mark.    … Expand

Maybe that's because devs wanted to push too many diverse things in a story driven game? All that just for the sake of bigger drama and darker feelings. I'm disappointed with the game.

I have never been so immersed in a game or with a set of characters before. Obviously the graphics and game play are unmatched, that should go without saying. The acting in this game sets such high standards for future gaming (something we already knew with Naughty Dog games). The story is very dark, very draining and asks a lot of the player. It asks the player to trust the game and believe me it was hard. While playing the the second half, I too wanted to put my remote down and turn it off but I didn't. I wanted to get back to Ellie so badly I kept playing and playing, recklessly and rushing through some scenes. All of a sudden I started to realise that I cared about Abby. I didn't like her (the game never asks you to), but I understand her. The new characters are mostly great additions and really fleshed out. Definitely read the journals while you play. Once I had finished, man I was wrecked. Emotionally and mentally I needed to step away from the game and think about everything that had happened and everything I had done. It was there that I realized that this was an incredible game. I applaud Naughty Dog for the direction they took. I was a huge risk but for me it really paid off. It sucks if people genuinely didn't enjoy the game. Perhaps at a different stage in their life they might, i don't know. Either way, for me, this is the best game I have ever played. No medium has ever stuck in my head for so long. I am still thinking about the story and my interpretations. Uncharted was my favourite game series but TLOU has officially taken it's place.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
