This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just clear the game. I feel so depressed right now. As a huge fan of the last one, I still can’t believe I’ve been waiting years for this **** Joel was dead, Ellie lost everything in her life plus two fingers. This is just not the way to make your fans impressive. I probably will give this game an 8 , but as long as it’s the Last of Us, it will only deserve a 0 and a middle finger. By the way, what’s wrong with Naughty dog thinking players want to play Abby for 8 hours after she killed Joel?! It’s not enjoyable and I still want to get the revenge during every minute of it. The worst part is, Naughty dog took that decision from players and ‘help’ players choose the ‘right’ choice. Seriously, I don’t need your opinion, I just want to get the **** done.
Anyway, I will definitely not buy the sequel (I really hope there is not).

This game would be amazing if they just let Joel live for like 80-90% of the game, I only enjoy playing the flashbacks and the short time Joel is alive befor he get Mario Golfed. You can get same reaction from killing a puppy, I really don't understand the way they took out joel. Did they really think people would like it this way? Also way to many plot holes and no character really had any goals with there lifes more then to go full rampage dafuq? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We assume that on a technical level it is truly spectacular. If you have to look at the story, it is really horrendous. The behavior of Joel and his brother at the beginning of the game is created specifically to allow the plot to take the turn it should, but in reality Joel and Tommy would never have acted like this. Do you remember, for example, how in the first chapter Joel sees a man asking for help in the middle of the street and instead of stopping he accelerates and runs over him? That is Joel's real behavior not to trust anyone, not to help anyone. they tried in every way during the game to empathize with abby but I never empathized with her, all I felt was hate that I hoped to be able to alleviate by taking my revenge by playing as Ally (which did not happen). To break the vicious circle of hate Ally decides to save Abby's life and let her go on her way. Just the core of the actions that Ally performs do not make sense, because having spared Abby's life does not imply having ended the circle of hate, in fact, the daughter or a friend of a npc randomly killed during the game may simply appear looking for Ellie to kill her since she killed her father / friend, as they decided to do on tlou2. If at the beginning of the game I was angry about Joel's death but hoping to have a nice revege story at the end of the game I realized that I was depressed and even more angry. Expand

The last of us Part 2 scores a 10 out of 10, with the most amazing graphics (foliage, water, facial expressions, the representation of a Seattle in decay...), more of the same game mechanics from part 1, new enemies and a very satisfying soundtrack.
That is... without the story and the poorly made choices the gamer has to endure.

Spoilers NOW, seriously stop reading if you haven't finished the game!

Instead of telling the story and unfolding the difficult relationship between Joel and Ellie, Naughty Dog decides it would be best to kill Joel and send Ellie on a revenge mission. Hatred, anger and stubbornness set the tone, but they aren't accompanied with character development. In fact, the choices you have to make with Ellie (several times) are utmost illogical. After completing the game you're left with a bitter aftertaste.
And if that isn't enough, you are forced as a gamer to play +-/ 15 hours with the murderer of Joel, trying to kill Tommy and beating Ellie and her girlfriend to a pulp. The murderer of Joel has it's own emotional story and a fair amount of reasons to take revenge on Joel/Ellie, but still... ... being forced to play with this character and having to make choices I didn't want to make, left me several times in a state where I didn't want to play anymore (and most of us looked forward to playing the game for 7 years).

The are 2 emotional flashbacks where you play as Joel and Ellie again, leaving you frustrated, bittered and even upset, knowing that, with the chemistry between those two, this could've been the best game sequel ever made!

Graphics, story telling, details, gameplay. Naughty Dog have outdone themselves again!

The only reason I can see people giving the game a 1 star, is because of the death of Joel. But they don't see that having him killed in such a brutal manner is what pulls you into the game further.

I usually try to sneak around as many enemies as possible, but for Part 2 I wanted to shoot, stab, burn and beat every Wolf I came across to death until I finally got to Abby!

... Then the game flips you on your head, and makes you play as her... At first I didn't like it, but as you progress you start to understand Abby and almost begin to want her to win over Ellie!
Thats only possible through the story telling, and this game has mastered it.

    Play this game!

You made my love for playing the first TLOU over and over again, trying different things, disappear..... I can't express my disappointment for this game... I'm sorry but I think you should remake the story or don't make a sequel, because I'm sure it will also be a trash game. You changed my perspective of TLOU. Your failure will never be forgotten and will always remain in the minds of the gamers that waited for this game for years. Im sorry but...... leave this franchise alone and don't bother coming back with it only if you are willing to rewrite the story, with new writers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 was one hell of a Rollercoaster. The story was complex and rich and real. It showcases the imperfections or being human and the frailty of life. It’s action packed, emotional, terrifying, hilarious, and most of all it feels real. There are things and characters you love and ones you hate. Things you don’t want to happen that happens regardless because we are just watching a story unfold in an interactive way. We don’t get to dictate what happens to the characters in this brutal world, we get the privilege of seeing how they try to get through it. The writing is superb! The graphics are boggling and the game mechanics a delicious improvement on the mechanics of the first game. I really want multiplayer but that’s not important right now because holy biscuits this story.

No one is a superhero in this world. Even Ellie who is immune, isn’t invulnerable. She can still die, just like anyone else who gets viciously torn apart by a clicker. Dina says it perfectly at the farm "Jesse didn't plan on dying, and neither did Joel". Dying isn't attractive no matter how its portrayed. In most cases, especially in the world of The Last of US, its unexpected and sudden. You survive until you don’t. A surprise bullet while running into the unknown to help a friend when you thought you were somewhere safe. Murdered with a pipe by someone who's life you just saved after softening from 5 years of safety and awkward love and getting old after 25 years in an apocalyptic world that has not been nice on your body.

Ellie’s journey in this game is powerfully human. From the triumphs to the struggles, the good decisions and the bad, you can understand her perspective. You can’t help but question the lengths you would go to in her situation, even if you know what’ll happen. You may come to the thought that you would choose differently, but you can still get why she does it all.

Abby… uhg ABBY. I am so conflicted about her. So much darkness, but so much tragedy and growth. Despite our love for the original characters, we can again come to understand Abby’s perspective and choices as the story unfolds. The desperation for her to restore some light in her world hits us, even as we disagree with and despise her actions. Then we come to support her other actions even if we still hate her.

The supporting characters all around are so GOOD. They build the story alongside the main characters while growing and failing in their own ways with their own stories. They aren’t just fillers, they are a part of the world and the story being told. Even the npc’s you fight and kill throughout help tell the story with their own characters.

The ending of it all fit, but I think it could have been better...maybe. It was a good ending, but it still felt like there could have been more. The flashback of seeing a peaceful Joel after only being able to see him in his brutal death shocked Ellie and I think fulfilled her goal. When she left the farm, she told Dina she couldn't get him out of her head, couldn't stop thinking about it all. She had to end it the only way she could think to move on. Whether it be from seeing the state of Abby and Lev after enduring who knows what as some form of punishment, not wanting to end up like Tommy, feeling empowered that she had overcome Abby and "won", or some other factor or combination, Ellie found some peace in that moment. At least enough to let it go, and return to her family. That said, I think what could have made it stronger and been a good specific trigger point was if Lev had begged Ellie to stop like Ellie had begged Abby. That combined with all the other factors prompting Ellie would have, I think, given stronger indication of growth and offered a release of turmoil. It would change things though, it would be a prompt as opposed to a natural occurrence which can feel stronger but does feel more… scripted. I can't say that its inherently better either way, but I can say I love this game regardless.

You can't please everyone, especially with such a heavy game with real emotions that is beloved by many for good reason. Still, 10 years of dedication created a fantastic game to tell an amazing story that provokes thought and emotion thats not always pleasant. The confusing, convoluted reality that is the cycle of violence is laid bare with no room to hide from it. The Last of Us was never a happy story, it’s always been a good story.

Combat has improved since the first game. The addition of a dodge is so helpful and the stealth is amazing. The use of tall grass to sneak around, sneaking around a corner as an enemy looks over the top of the table, it's all extremely intense. Many moments have your heart racing and after triggering an enemy and just surviving a frenetic fight, I leaped to my fight and punched the air.

The environments are amazing. They allow you so many different ways to handle a fight or avoid the fight altogether.

The story is bleak but engaging and pretty full on. Maybe skip this if you have depression issues.

My only downsides so far is that I've encountered a couple of bugs. Nothing game breaking. The loot searching can get tiresome as well but that's like any other survival horror and it adds to the intensity.

Last of Us was one of my all time favourite games. This one is at least as good, possibly better than the first. Overall would highly recommend.

The first part was one of the best games I've ever played. The game had everything you wanted from a great story game Story, characters, emotions, graphics.
The last of Us 2 is exactly the opposite of the first part.
I'll start with the positives, graphics as always from the Naughty Dog studio gorgeous, panoramas of flooded Seattle alternating snowy mountains and villages reminiscent of the Middle Ages, just a feast for the eyes.
The game is very shocking, both positively and negatively. You get to know the character, you start to like her, and in 4 hours ABBY will pierce her head with her manly hand that even Dwayne Johnson would envy her. Acting performances better than in any million-dollar film and you will know from the facial expressions of the characters what they really think and feel. Also, of course, flshback passages with Joel and Tommy, where I felt like I was playing the first part, and this is how the game was supposed to start, and a slightly improved gameplay. And that's all.
There are many negatives, we start with the decision of characters who behave as if they had an Alzheimer and did not know where he is, this ability is dominated by Ellie who could live a happy life with Dina and the child, but simply has to for ABBY whom she is not even able to kill everything, and the utterly repulsive effort of the creators to make Ellie a completely unthinking, heartless monster that kills dogs and who knows maybe demonstrates in the evenings.
I'll move on to the most painful thing, and that's ABBYE, remember that name because after it's over, you'll be haunted in the evenings by a very tasty sex scene that has as much to do with sex as Germany and peace.
A completely dysfunctional character with whom, after beating Joel with a golf club, it is simply impossible to identify. And I honestly don't even remember her story because it was taken to the extreme, as was the story of the whole game. Why I have to play Flashbeck in Flachbeck on Flashbek under Flashbek just doesn't bother me. The end of the story is like, it could just be over, but I'll stretch it by 6 hours and I won't even talk about the final fight with Abby.
I didn't mind the presence of LGBT and everything because it just made sense and it wasn't crammed everywhere.
For me, The Last of Us is a huge disappointment and a demonstration that everyone should make their own opinion on the game, and not follow reviews, such as mine.

Lazy story writing that equated to violence/revenge = bad.

They try to put you in the shoes of a person impacted by the violence committed in the first game by Joel... problem is the character isn't likeable or relatable. Also I couldn't feel guilt for what Joel did as it was justified, it was Ellies life for the CHANCE of a cure... without concent.

The game does have some highlights and is visually stunning which is what brought my score up to a 6.
They include the hospital boss fight, the jump scares from the walls and the open part of Seattle.

However anything with the "scars" in was just terrible, peaking at the point you take a trip to their island... it felt like you had landed in a Nora village from Horizon Zero Dawn (a game I love but not akin to the last of us!), this happens just when you think you have finished up playing as Abby which is tiresome as she was so unlikeable.

Don't even get me started on the ending, I had hoped the game would redeem itself at that point but you get nothing from it, trying to preach the narrative of revenge = bad... but was such an anticlimax. If you want to play for yourself and judge then buy this pre owned and then likely sell it.

Truly gutted by how bad this game was.

I have beaten TLOU2 on the hardest difficulty Survivor & did so for the first game too but grounded & my opinion on the first game love it one of my favorite story game but the 2nd game is very bad now I avoided most spoiler & want to make this very clear because of my faith I don't agree with certain lifestyle choices BUT I absolutely do not hate and I do not have ill will toward anyone I love them just as I love anyone else so any of the things surrounding the game in a negative way did not effect how I feel about the game now the graphic really good BUT it was to be expected so no surprise there the dodging mechanic is interesting definitely made it harder but giving enough time you will learn the timing & it won't be to bad killing off Joel I knew that was happening before the game was even out Joel not getting any younger he was like high 40 early 50 in first game or something like that & the injury he took from all of that he won't be able to keep that up forever so I was never suprise he was going to die BUT the way he died was unforgivable from what we learned about Joel that scenario would have never happened like that Joel does not trust anyone outside his inner circle & he would never put himself his brother especially everyone else lives in a vulnerable position plus from the first game Joel tell Ellie he been on both side of ambush Joel would of never took those terrible risk that is the world they live in you can't trust anyone you don't know & you can barely trust the people you do know so I feel Joel was force into bad writing to fit the story & plot other parts of the game I did not like that I was force to kill dogs but it can't be help if you don't you die I also don't like that you are force to buy perks you don't want I wasted so many pill buying useless perks the first game you had a choice but the 2nd game you do not I didn't like the way things were handled between Ellie & Joel with the truth about what happened that day in the hospital in first game Ellie & Joel are both reasonably smart people now Ellie then may not been able to handle the truth but finding out now she should of been able to see what Joel see not just the love but & wanting to be father figure to Ellie but if Ellie die to become the cure it would be a worthless death everyone will mostly still die by the infected & human plus it not 100% that it would work & every year infected grows I also don't like playing as Abby however I did like some of her perks the old one from first game & new one I didn't even try to shoot Ellie & I did laugh when Ellie kills me but being Abby spicy scene & all nothing can be said to repair the damage that was done but I get why Abby wanted revenge it was her dad that died that spark it all but however there some good moment in the game like the guitar scenes the museum scenes but overall I would had rather known I can beat the game & would rather watch a walkthrough so I don't have to waste as much time as I did on the game but it was interesting Tommy survive I didn't think he did but I didn't like that Tommy show up ruining the small family of Ellie Dina & JJ plus Tommy was being 100% dirtbag to Ellie & ranting off about promises & I can't get revenge because of my injury & trying to guilt Ellie into doing it but because of Tommy it jack up Ellie already fragile mind & in the end leave Dina & JJ behind but the cold part even the revenge does not happen Ellie lose 2 finger loses Dina & JJ & can't play guitar properly all that for peace of mind things are just all over the place the game is bad not playable it a story driven game but since the story is terrible that mean the game is too & there was even times I forgot I was playing TLOU2 it was that boring & bad but overall my experience was terrible & I am glad I didn't buy it my brother did at least money saved but time wasted but if possible avoid this game watch a no commentary playthrough you will thank me later. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The sequel everyone has been waiting for, end up being the sequel no one wanted.

That's how I feel, I did not expect this story to be told. Why? mostly because a whole game based on the "cycle of violence/revenge/forgiveness" (and not going at it the right way) and not focusing on the zombies, cure, or a better world building, well kinda a miss for me. But still very good and a rare experience.

What's my problems with this sequel? The characters mostly. Abby (/Owen). I don't hate her. I get what was the point of her story, why we played her. I do, but, it just doesn't work for me.

Could be because, we play her after 15 HOURS, you know when we are very invested in Ellie (can't be compared with how we get play Ellie in the first game). Maybe because we play her after a big cliffhanger, and get back to it after hours. Maybe because we see her kill and torture XXX. Or maybe because her and Owen story felt bland, boring, long? I get it, we need to sympathize with them. But not like this (I did like Abby with Lev and Yara, it was interesting).

And we spend quite a few hours playing Abby, when other characters get almost nothing. Dina, Tommy, Jesse and Maria.

Ellie loses everything, even herself (PTSD, not explored or talked about) for revenge. In this game the characters don't talk a lot about their feelings or what happened, it's missing, we have visuals but... Even worse, if you miss an entry in the journal, you might not understand correctly Ellie.

That being said, it's still an amazing experience. The gameplay is really good when given the opportunity. The graphics are a big step up, for me, it's the character animations that I liked the most. Again story not perfect for a few things, but for the rest it was good. The flashbacks could have been handled better, sometimes it was frustrating, more so with Abby. And lots of options to play how you want in the settings.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was f*cking LIVID over this game after I finished it, as most people are. Of course the graphics are f*cking amazing, but we all had a huge issue with the story and their deception in the trailers. SOME TREE TRUNK FIGURED B*TCH killed my man Joel and in that moment I was Ellie. I was full of anger and rage and all I saw was red for the entire rest of the game. Thinking that- making us play as this B*TCH was twisted and F*CKED up. I was stubborn. I didn't want to sympathize with Abby and I just wanted Ellie to get this show on the road and KILL her ass. I was like... f*ck naughty dog for thinking I'd want anything other than Ellie to get brutal ass revenge.

After taking a step back from it, calming down, and reanalyzing I began to feel less angry. I thought about Abby's storyline and I started to sympathize. Ellie killed her friends and Abby spared her two f*cking times. TWICE. Abby broke my f*cking heart sometimes. I wanted Ellie to just part ways when she saw the boat...and I think she did too. She thought about Joel and instantly the anger comes back and in that moment I was Ellie. I wanted to beat that b*tch to a pulp. I believe they purposefully prolonged the fight, it went on so long and It didn't seem worth it anymore. That INSTANT GRATIFICATION wasn't worth it anymore. Man in that moment I was Ellie.. I let it go. She didn't kill her she let her go. Ellie ended the cycle and actually ended up saving Abby's life one could argue.

I still have a hard time understanding why they lied about Joel surprising Ellie in the midst of the game when it was actually Jesse, so I'm docking a few points for that. Docked points as well because although it was necessary to view Abby's perspective...it did go on a bit long. Also... the repetitiveness of the actual gameplay was a drag.. felt like I was doing the same thing over and over, but that wasn't as big of a deal for me.

NAUGHTY DOG I apologize. I was leaving comments, tweeting them, etc...and talking so much sh*t but man.... this f*cking game was a masterpiece once you realize the emotions you feel, good and bad, are exactly what they wanted you to feel. Actual geniuses.

With a few additions (dogs, arrows) that tingle the action phases. Always avoid so if you do not like interactive films as there have been many others on PS4 (and like the first installment in fact). Finally, the scenario, also worse than in the one, remains correct, however. Although having problems of slowness sometimes, and actions of characters which can be bizarre. The LQBTQ kinds of stuff in this game are overused and too strange, which almost destroys the storyline. The most unacceptable part to me is that Dina gets pregnant while having a relationship with Ellie, and the father of the baby is being headshot while opening the door... WTF? Political correct and the messy storyline is a disaster to many fans of the TLOU series. In spite of the storyline is far from fans’ expectations, the other parts of the game are still as good as the previous TLOU. What a pity...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 is a phenomenal game. The graphics are some of the best in this generation. The fight scenes are tense, scary and big. The controls and overall gameplay are excellent just like the last game. I love how fluid the animations are during a fight scene. In one instance, I ran and grabbed a brick, threw it at someone, dodged a bullet and charged another person with a hammer. It’s hard to explain, but those events unfolded exactly how they should without any glitches or awkward animations or stutters. It felt empowering. Another time, I was sneaking up on someone and I didn’t realize there was dog near by and he sniffed me out and the enemies quickly tried to surround me. I was forced to abandon my plan and run through several buildings to lose the enemies. I also like how different Ellie and Abby feel during fights.

I honestly don’t understand the hate the game continues to get. Yes, it’s extremely violent and a lot of that violence is really graphic, but the game is a story about revenge and hate. What did you expect? The very first trailer showed Ellie in a house filled with dead bodies and she says “I’m gonna find, and I’m gonna kill every last one of them” Did you think she was going to travel to Seattle and toilet paper the place and maybe give some people wedgies? Ellie already has survivor's guilt and is now filled with hate for the people who killed Joel. Of course it’s gonna be violent…extremely violent. She has nothing to lose.

That brings me to another huge gripe…Joel is dead. Joel had to be killed for this story to exist. Unfortunately, it’s as simple as that. I love Joel, but he had to die to set Ellie off in this vengeful rage.

The last and probably most relevant gripe is that you have to play as Abby for the second part of the game and...that playing as Abby seemed like a long side quest. I get it. When they first put me in Abby’s shoes I was pissed. I hated that character. I hated her so much that I didn’t even look for resources in the beginning. I just wanted her to die...but that’s when I started to realize something. As I continued to play her chapters I realized that Abby is not all that bad. Joel killed her Dad and she was simply out for revenge. She even spared Ellie and Tommy whereas Ellie was out to kill everybody, not just Abby. Abby actually grows as a character. She genuinely cares about what may happened to Lev and his sister. She turns against the WLF and helps them. This is not a side quest, this is where you realize that she is a good person and unfortunately revenge got the better of her. Ultimately you realize that Abby is a better person than Ellie. Of course, you still love Ellie more (because she rocks), but by the end of the game I was conflicted about killing Abby.

I really liked the risk Naughty Dog took with the story. By the end of the game I thought it was really satisfying playing as Abby and seeing the other side of the story. The flashbacks were also a nice change of pace compared to the main plot. I was also a fan of all the new characters...Dina, Jessie, Mel, Owen, Nora and Manny.

I only have 1 real gripe…in certain situations when I really need to keep moving, I have to stop to look around for resources. In those scenes resources should just be readily available to keep the action flowing. Maybe just have enemies drop more ammo or something.

Overall, the game was fantastic and I really enjoyed playing it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Might have been an at least ok game if it wasn't a Last of Us title.
The story sacrifices established and loved characters in the most pathetic ways to introduce new characters that are mediocre at best and absolutely terrible at worst. They also expect you to connect to the Killer of Joel, which is something that is set up to fail if you had any love for the first game and got invested in the story. To add to that, established characters just act out of order, very little apart from the shell remains of them.
I will give the game this, it looks and sounds beautiful, has a dense atmosphere and is acted out really well (allthough not as good as the first part though), which is pretty much the only reason I played through it.
Another big problem is how the story is told, it's basically Inception with Flashbacks into Flashbacks into Flashbacks which gets pretty ridiculous fast. Also the fact that they introduced the Abby gameplay part AFTER she killed Joel is absolutely mimd bending, personally I just couldn't connect after the fact that she brutally butchered one of my favorite characters ever to be created in all of media, like he was a cheap NPC.
Apart from that Part 2 is a massive letdown to the core fanbase of Part 1, while it may please newcomers, passerbys and obviously mainstream media, for some arbatrary reasons.
Honestly I never felt the need to hate on a game on social media, but this was the breaking point for me.

They just killed a dad character, no family reference anymore , no good vibe. The story not that catchy anymore (smelling of sweat, forced) :(. I like the first one better. Expand

Naughty Dog did it again with the beautiful graphics, amazing storytelling, and the gameplay mechanics is just spectacular!! there are some issues with the jump mechanics though, I found it quite useless with the jump feature, it just doesn't feel natural. Everything except that is wonderful!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. On a technical level, the game is extremely good. Graphics, atmosphere, soundtrack, and the voice actors are top-notch.
Which makes the following even harder to write.
The story is NOT. They tried very hard to make you feel bad at every step. From the ruining of beloved characters, both physically (Joel) and as a character assassination (Ellie), to simple things like the killing of dogs in a very graphical way. I get what they tried to do but failing to make the new characters relatable the whole story flops in a major way. Maybe the problem was that the actions of Joel at the end of the first game were already morally dubious and there was really no shock value. Maybe the problem was that the script team misunderstood the problem completely - we kill a lot of people in games this has no shock value at all for the player.
The real problem there was - maybe I ruined the chances of humanity for a cure.
Not that I killed a few nameless characters that tried to vivisect Ellie. Nobody really had a problem with that. So Abby starts on the wrong foot and never manages to recover.
To summarise - you destroy the old characters, you fail to make new ones and you very very hard try to make the player feel bad about actions that he has no influence over - you don't have a choice NOT to kill all of those people.
Now how is that 10 out of 10? The majority of the players will have trouble finishing this game and why would they.
For me, this game represents a betrayal of all fans and betrayal of one of the best if not the best teams in the history of the industry. 7 years of work for them are wasted. Their image will never be the same.

O jogo é muito bom, jogabilidade incrivel, cenários incriveis e uma história muito bem elaborada.
A construção de personagens foi muito bem feita. Não é um jogo para todos, mas para quem gosta desse tipo de jogo vai amar.

This game is worthy of attention. Good and well-designed fork in the plot. But many users claim that the game has a lot of LGBT topics, and I will say that this is not so. The game is gorgeous and I would like the first and second parts to be ported to the PC. And of course we hope for part 3.

P.S. It’s better not to put Russian voice acting.

This game is absolutely perfect. Story may not be what everybody was expecting but it makes complete sense. Gameplay is superb! The game is big and full of places to explore. Don't listen to the negative user reviews. I bet the majority of those people only watched the spoilers and haven't played the game.

Disappointing and not recommended. The gameplay hasn't improved since the original which ran on the PS3 back in 2013. It was acceptable back in 2013 but has not aged well and compared to modern cover-shooters it feels ancient. However what made the original great was the story. The new story is frankly garbage. Unlikable characters, ridiculous motivation, and an unhappy ending to boot.Disappointing and not recommended. The gameplay hasn't improved since the original which ran on the PS3 back in 2013. It's OK to "subvert my expectations" but this is just depressing. I don't want to play games and feel like crap afterwards. I want my $70 and 20 hours back but that won't happen. So at least I can warn others to avoid this abomination.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
