The plot for The Last Of Us Part II is good but a lot of downsides many people can relate to. We really should of been given the opportunity to play as Joel longer then just 10 mins at the start. Then switching characters halfway through the game, lots of fans hated it including myself and kinda felt like giving up. It was a very bold move by Naughty Dog but many ways it could of been executed differently here and there. Another disappointment for me was the soundtrack. I cannot help but keep comparing it to the first game. Once you get to the menu. Nothing. Just a boat resting on water. And during cutscenes it doesn’t have the same impact as when we watched Henry and Sams death or many other emotional scenes from the first game. Those moments is what stuck in people’s mind but this game didn’t give me that. I could just sit at the menu for the first game with the background music playing it was perfect. Some reason they didn’t go this far for the sequel. Disappointing. Would I play again? After platinuming the game on a second play through. I cannot see playing this game again. Hope this helps. While I've never been a fan of the gameplay in the last of us games, the gameplay feels greatly improved and the story while a hard pill to swallow is great. This game is great, I honestly don't know where the hate toward this game comes from. While there are small problems with the game I still believe it is a fun and enjoyable experience.

but it was truly a strong one! i mean sometimes you have to face the truth, what Joel did made him dead, see yourself in that condition, what would you do if knew there is a way to get back to a normal life but someone stops everything and kills every peoples hopes!
i mean if none of these happened it would be fully nonsense so Joel's death had to be a part of the main story
i do really enjoyed this game and i think i will not experience something like that in years!

It does'nt change that the overall quality of the game is very good, not perfect, but this is a game where you feel all the effort and time put into details, a good level design, a classic but efficient gameplay, and gorgeous graphics.

However, some part of the game seemed for me too long without being very interesting. The is more a problem of rythm. The game is very long, but to be fair the biggest part is ok.

And yes you can find some "feminism or lgbt stuff" in background, but honestly it does'nt feel like propaganda you should not even pay attention to it because this is not what the story is about anyway, and it just melt in this world naturally, so there is nothing shocking with that choice.

I have played Lost of Us 1 a long time ago, i never became a fan of the game despite i liked it, so maybe my reaction will be more moderate than someone that is passionate about the characters.

Anyway, LOTU part II is still for me a very good game, with very good storytelling, and taking some risk. Of course some people will not like some choice, they will hate some characters, and it's part of what the writters are looking for. And everything, if it's not perfect, is well crafted to serve a purpose..

This game isn't a masterpiece like the critics are mostly saying. It's also not as bad as the user reviews would suggest. Maybe people should have played the game instead of just looking at the leaks before reviewing.

The story isn't great but everything else is done so well that I think this is still worth playing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The lower ratings here are just angry fanboys. The truth is the game is great. The graphics, sound design, controls, all amazing. The story...well there's a lot of room for improvement, even if just by changing the order or some events would have made things better, the killing of joel right at the beginning of the game seems to be the reasoning for hate and anger, i get it, i also didnt want to play as the character who just killed my favorite character in the story. But that doesn't make it a bad game. Ive played through the story twice already and im almost finished platinum trophy. While theres a few thing that should have been changed, the gameplay along with storytelling is not horrible. Its worth the purchase to play. Dont listen to the blind hate. Games like this are to tell a story, not appeal to your personal wants. It does a good job of continuing from the 1st game, even if it makes you angry. But if you think about it, only a good game can make you so angry at the death of someone you like. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game filled me with emotions and made me numb at the same time. Saying the story is great, I believe, is untrue to the game itself. TLOU2 is a gut wrenching, depressing **** game. When the credits rolled I sat in silence and stared at my tv for a solid ten minutes devoid of emotion. The game doesn’t make you feel good. It doesn’t cater to fan service. It’s not a copy of the first game. It is a gripping, realistic take on a story of vengeance in its most primal and unflattering form. Naughty Dog did a great job of making me feel the emotional toll of this game and that is something I don’t often see in video games. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finally played the whole game and wanted to give a short but honest review. I was a big fan of the first one, so I came to the game with really high expectations and it really delivered. The gameplay was amazing and the curveball of playing a little under half of the campaign as Abby was a wrlcomed surprise. The game has no good guys or bad guys. Just people who are consumed by vengeance. What made me not give a higher score is that the game dragged a little bit at the end. But this game is an experience and should be played as probably the last great PS4 game (have not played Ghost of Tsushima yet). Don’t listen to the trolls and the hate, play the game! Expand

Wanted to wait until I got the platinum before rating this. I'd give it an 8.25, compared to a 9.5 or so for the original. The gameplay is absolutely better, but the story just doesn't have the same impact of the first. Ellie's parts of the story are just okay, and the characters are really weak (other than ellie, Joel, and Tommy). Dina might be one of the most annoying characters I have ever had tag along with me. She does nothing but constantly tell me what I'm doing is dangerous, and asked if I'm okay what felt like 500 times throughout. Abby's part, on the other hand, is a whole lot of fun with some really good characters. Some of the set pieces and action sequences are loads of fun to play through, which was oddly missing from Ellie's parts. The only problem with Abby is that her story is entirely unnecessary, no matter how fun it is. It seems like it would have been better off as a DLC or a standalone DLC like Naughty Dog has done in the past. I'm just guessing, but it almost feels like they knew the Ellie portions of the story were not up to par with what they wanted, so they just tacked on this part just to hopefully improve the fun factor. It worked, but it still is very unnecessary. The Ellie portions dealt with a lot of swimming, I'm assuming due to the fact that she just learned how to swim, but really you can either swim or not swim in video games. There's no in between. It's hard to make learning to swim into a compelling story mechanic, which I'm assuming is why she can perfectly swim during the part where she's "learning" to swim. Abby's parts deal with the fear of heights more, which is absolutely doable in a video game. Some of the things she has to deal with because of her fear of heights, really translates over to a more fear inducing experience. I know giving this an 8 after all of this criticism doesn't make sense, but I feel like this is still a high quality game that just doesn't have as good of a story as the first. people rating this below a 6 are just doing it out of spite. Play it for yourself, form your own opinion. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the first review I’m putting on a game because I feel that this game is getting too much love and too much hate at the same time, as someone who watches anime and movies everyday I feel that I have a pretty good view when it comes to character development and what would drive a character to do certain things. With the death of everyone’s, including myself, Joel the game feels like it was over and there was no point in continuing. I kept going out of respect for the creators at Naughty Dog and I’ve been getting platinum trophies for all my recent games. As the game went on I could only think about what the ending would bring because no matter what I always held a grudge against Abby, but I understood her reason for doing what she did, which Is what I would like to believe was the intended point, rather than loving the character after everything you just understand why she did it. The same Joel’s decision at the end of the first game. It wasn’t morally right but you understood why. Ellie has so much pent up anger, pain and confusion that it was easy to understand how she could slowly become a revenge driven maniac who kills everyone in her way. You may dislike her but it’s true to human nature. You get to watch as both characters develop into different people with Abby wanting to become a better person and wanting a life with Lev. Ellie has so much turmoil over wether or not she should’ve killed Abby but in the end she couldn’t bring herself down to that level any longer. The story and it’s development, while not the best, is still better than your average game, the gameplay is phenomenal much like the first game. If the ratings were out of 5 for story and out fo 5 for gameplay this would be a 3/5 for story and a 5/5 for gameplay. Expand

Graphics are amazing, PS4 suffers to play this game (sounds like an airplane fan) but it really pays off, facial expressions are the best I've ever seen in a video game, beautiful post-apocalyptical destroyed scenarios, awesome effects.

Sound and soundtrack are as great as they were in the first game, many of the game sounds still the same from the first one, like when enemies detect you for example. Soundtrack is beautiful, even though I don't think it's as memorable as the first game.

Now for story, it's the reason I didn't give this game a 10. Besides all criticism over the game story, which some are correct and some don't, I actually liked the story they told us, I just didn't like the way it was told.
Game has serious pacing issues, it relies on many, many flashbacks to tell a story, they use this storytelling method to a lot, and the problem is, the flashbacks are actually more interesting than what's happening on the present. I know that what's happening in the present has the weight of what happened on the flashbacks but those moments still look disconnected and it bothers me.

My complains aside, game has a good story, but definitey not for everyone. Some people will really care and feel deeply connected to the characters some other people won't.

Before embarking on this journey just know that you'll end it feeling worse than when you started, that's the game intention.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a must PS4 title. One of the best experiences you can have in 2020.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would give this game an 8 out of 10. My reason behind this is that the gameplay was outstanding. The soundtrack was outstanding. The story not so much. First, I think that the way Joel died was not an honorable death for a character we were all so attached to. He deserved to die of old age or a natural cause rather than being beaten to death. Second, Abby. I find the idea for being able to play as the antagonist interesting but not a lot of people dig playing as the character who murdered a character we loved. When playing as her I felt that maybe it was only there to prolong game time. I think maybe little cutscenes from time to time would have been better. Third, the ending. Personally I was okay with Ellie not killing Abby. Only because it was supposed to show that Ellie still had a good side to her. The part of her she had when Joel was around. Although it did make me feel like that last few hours of the game were pointless. I think they should have just ended it at the point where Ellie had a home and family. I also hated the fact that when she returned home, everything and everyone she loved left her. Anyways that was my opinion on the game. Expand

-To preface this review,Congratulations to the Naughty dog team on a great game. My excitement for this game was through the roof ever since it's reveal back in 2016. I preordered, got the special edition controller and more.
My excitement accelerated when part 2 was released and we see the seasoned Joel and Ellie. I was thrilled to see what the story was going to hold. I had heard about the big storyline leaks and made sure I did not read any of it so I did not spoil anything. I had heard that the story revolves around Ellie getting her revenge. Early trailers of part 2 showed glimpses of Ellies new love interest, Dina. I thought the story was going to follow Ellie avenging Dina's death or something along those lines. I was certainly not expecting Joel to die. Especially after the 2016 reveal trailer where Ellie is looking for revenge while Joel is already in the scene. I wonder what the original storyline contained. I was really looking forward to playing as Joel again and seeing his and Ellie's relationship continue to grow. It was sad but I respected the direction that they decided to go with the game.
When I first started playing as Abby I was somewhat annoyed. I immediately just wanted to go back to playing as Ellie as the audience has grown to love her. I didn't even bother looting with Abby as I thought I surely wouldn't be playing as her for long so what's the point. I was mistaken.
I understand that Abby's side of the coin was important to the progression of the story, I just wish it didn't take so long. It felt like the game was divided 50/50 between Ellie and Abby when I wish it was more like 75% Ellie and 25% Abby. I have waited so long to play as Ellie and just got annoyed whenever that got taken away from me. I really wanted to enjoy playing as Abby but at the end of the day I was just waiting to go back to Ellie.
I was a little confused about the ending. I might be missing something but I don't understand why Ellie had such a big problem with killing Abby after she has killed hundreds of other people that got in her way. Perhaps she feels bad cause Joel killed Abby's Dad? I'm not quite sure.
The gameplay was solid. The graphics and audio amazing. The stealth was great in this game, my only strife with it was it began to get a little repetitive with sneaking up on enemies and performing the same takeout method over and over again. The gunplay was awesome! The enemies didn't feel like they were a sponge and when you shoot them with a shotgun, you definitely feel it.
Despite what all the negative reviews say, I still loved this game. I think everyone is exaggerating because they enjoyed the first game so much and wanted to keep playing as the main characters. The bar was set so high in part 1 so it is easy to see why everyone is upset.
Upon completing part 2 I am left feeling truly very sad (did not think I would say this about a video game). The story was amazing and it sucks to be finished it. To make it worse, I don't really see what they could do for a part 3 so the series could be finished for good for all we know.
I have never been so emotionally invested in a video game as I was with The Last of Us part 1 and 2. The Naughty dog team should be praised for their outstanding work in the franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great Game. Difficult choices were made story-wise, it gets to you up to the end of the story. Graphically gorgeous, artistic direction top notch, music, very good, though, I was expecting the sequence from that 2017 trailer with Ellie singing Through the Valley, this never came... Gameplay physics, top of naughty dog, yet, Rockstar games still one step ahead in my opinion especially for the horse ridding (minor part of the gameplay here). A must play for PS4, and with probably a nice remaster on PS5 one year from now, will be enjoyable. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall I think this is a really great game but it has some weaknesses and frustrating aspects - and I am not overly sure on the overall message/story that Naughty Dog decided to go with. Major spoilers below.

I'm in the camp that really enjoyed the narrative switch and being able to play as Abby. They changed the gameplay slightly in terms of the weapons available to her and how physical she is which kept the general feel fresh and that was important as the game overall can feel a bit stale sometimes because of repetition (puzzle, infected, people, puzzle, infected, people, set piece etc.). So I enjoyed that switch and I also thought as a narrative device it does work. I have to say that playing as Abby, I like her. I don't forgive her but I do like her, and mostly I wanted both Ellie and Abby to survive for the people in their lives more than any forgiveness for the things they have done. Both Dina and Lev are great supporting characters in my opinion and they're the main reason I want our main playable characters to end the cycle of revenge.

The weaknesses of the game come from some of the repetitive gameplay in my opinion. I also think that the AI are unforgiveably stupid at times, although in saying that I only played it on moderate difficulty for my first run through.

My main issue though comes from the relentless bleakness and the game seemingly implicating you, the player, in the horror and brutal torture that is meted out by the main playable characters. The game doesn't force us to kill Joel or Jesse, but it does force us to torture Nora, to try and kill both Ellie and Dina, and in that final beach battle it forces the player to fight regardless of how you might feel about it. I know it isn't an open-ended game, Naughty Dog aren't creating a "choose your own story" narrative, and that's ok - but I resent the game forcing us to make that step as well as the characters.

I also wonder about the narrative choice - there are no good people in this world (or so it seems). This sort of links up to my above point but when you enter a situation where there are people, there is seemingly no option other than to kill them all (or stealth your way through to avoid them). There is no situation where you just meet other people, are wary of them, but carry on. In fact the game starts with Joel and Tommy saving someone, and Joel is killed for it. The only other time a stranger is saved is when Lev and Yara cut Abby down - and that starts a path of change for Abby. But the entire world outside of that is horrific, and the optimist in me just refuses to believe that in the post-apocalypse, you would only find one or two slivers of light amongst hundreds and thousands of people.

However, really this is just a gripe with the overall world view of the game. It's not an issue I have with the story that was told within that world, and it didn't take away from involvement in the story. I'm still giving the game a positive review overall: even if you disagree with the narrative decisions, I think it's well worth playing all the way through.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, I can understand why people disliked the game: there were some obvious continuity errors with certain characters and some character decisions were questionable given their previous actions in the first game. As well as that, the killing spree that Ellie goes on after the introduction could have been adjusted to fit better with the ending; it didn't really make sense for Ellie to do what she did in the end given everything she had done in the lead-up to it.
However, the story in itself whilst emotionally harrowing and uncomfortable to say the least, did achieve Naughty Dog's goal (which they were vocal about well before release). The ideas of the cycle of violence through the search for revenge was really well developed and was really effective. The attempt to end this cycle at the end of the game was handled poorly in the terms of player satisfaction, but really well in terms of demonstrating the impacts of endless violence and how Ellie actually achieved her greatest fear "of ending up alone."
Player satisfaction is obviously one of the most important points when critiquing a game and clearly there were some problems here, however they all served to further the story and Naughty Dog's goal. The improved gameplay mechanics and stunning graphics coupled with brutal gore and realism made for a really exciting, shocking and gruesome playthrough. The way that the different difficulties allowed for more versatility in gameplay and encounter options was really awesome and made re-playing the game on different difficulties really enjoyable. All of these features of the gameplay (graphics, realism, gore and mechanics) all served a purpose in Naughty Dog's overarching goal, and, coming to understand that, made the game more enjoyable because I was able to recognise the importance of my actions and the significance of the storyline.
The new (and old) characters that were introduced in the game were for the most part fleshed out and developed quite well. Ellie's companions, Dina and Jesse, were really well made characters who i was able to care for and feel emotionally attached to. Abby was a really surprising and rather difficult character to play as on my first playthrough. I thought that she was developed well, however it was still very difficult to get over what she had done in the beginning. Abby's friends, on the other hand seemed a bit rushed and unimportant to me. I didn't feel much connection to them when playing as both Ellie and Abby, their deaths were kind of dry and meaningless, with the only really impactful deaths being that of Owen and Mel. Even still, both of these characters were quite forgettable in my opinion, with their deaths only being impactful due to the significance of the pregnancy to both Ellie and Abby.
The environments and enemy factions were really awesome and well developed, with really interesting lore available to be found around the world. The gameplay environments for both characters were also really nicely made, however I kind of felt like Abby's portion of the game had more big set-pieces and exciting battles and events. I felt like this was a bit forced and stinted as it almost seemed like Abby's portion of the game was designed to be fun and memorable so that players would begin to like her character more. If this was the case then I would say that it backfired because it became kind of obvious and repetitive, making me almost like Abby less because i knew that she was being appeased by the developers.
Finally, a major problem for me was the way that Joel was killed off. Before the release I had kept away from the spoilers, but just from the trailers I knew that something big was going to happen to Joel and Ellie. The brutality and inhumane way that Joel was killed made it much more difficult for the player to build any empathy for and relate to Abby. As a result, it was difficult to play as her because the player already hated this character. So, I think Joel's death could have been handled better by the developers, which would have made it a bit easier to play as Abby and it would have seemed less forced.
Overall, I really enjoyed the game. The story was difficult, emotional, harrowing and real, and specific events that began the game were really tough to sit through especially as a lover of the first game. The world-building, gameplay, graphics, realism and most of the characters were really well made and truly enjoyable to experience. Naughty Dog's goal was really well fleshed out and made for a really interesting and thought-provoking story, however the ending did feel a bit forced and disappointing. I recommend the game, but make sure that you are open-minded and prepared for more than just your normal video game. It was much more philosophical and thought-provoking than I anticipated, and i loved it!

The last masterpiece of the PS4 era, in the twilight. I can no longer wait the day it comes back as remastered PS5 version.

This, however, is not what we have to talk about. It is the gameplay, and the player's experience. I do love the way the game betrays its fans, and even TLOU1. I love Naughty Dog's gut deciding to swing Joel's head out. I do love the journey of Elie losing her humanity through the entire story, and retrieve it in the and, making a decision not finishing Abby. I love this game so much that I think TLOU1 should've have so much different story, which makes no sense(lol).

NONTHELESS, I also agree with some opinions that this game makes the players feel guilty, which is unnecessary. Player should have not forced to push the square button to swing a pipe to kill, even though I find it is one of the key of driving ourselves to craziness, which is exactly same what Elie feels. I also agree with some opinions that sometimes the players feel like there is no reason to play as Abby, finding her stories and feeling what she feels. Because we do love Elie, we were supposed to never care of Abby. (But in the end, I understood ND's intention... maybe.)

So, in short, this game is extremely controversial, even for me. I love how this game drives me crazy with shocking stories. I do not like some parts of the game. Still good experience, anyway.

Lastly, INCELS, YOUR TEARS ARE SO SWEET.

The visuals, the gameplay and acting, are all crowning achievements in their own right and should be praised as such. However, when it comes to the story, it seems to fall flat. Don't get me wrong, I thought the writing was very well done. I just feel like they could have taken the time to flesh it out, where it doesn't confused people to the point of the writer having to come out explain it. It's a confusing and as it went on I found myself less invested in the plot. This was poor and rushed way of telling a revenge story. It would have made more sense to learn about Abby and her past before she killed Joel. Instead we get random girl murders main character over a past we didn't know occurred. Not only that but instead of taking years to plan out her vengeance, Ellie goes off half cocked,, where it feels like she is rushing to her own death. There was no thought put into this. If you are going to write a revenge plot, do it right. Also the way she let Abby live at the end left me feeling nothing for Ellie. At this point, at least Abby is still redeemable if they decide to make another game. Other than that I really enjoyed this game. The writing needs work but it was decent. 8 out of 10 Expand

This game is not that bad as everyone tells it's just that people don't want to understand it . Gameplay mechanics , Graphics even the story were good . The story was emotional mainly the part with Joel . After his death even I had low expectations but as story goes I started to like the new and old characters . I liked the part with Ellie going on revenge after Abby , but instead of killing her she kills her friends (only Lev and Abby survive) . As I started playing as Abby a lot of things were revealed about her and I think she had some kind of redemption arc going on which I really liked . The Ending was bit disappointing maybe if they gave people the ability to choose it might have been better . But the best thing or the thing I liked the most were the flashbacks with Joel mainly the one with Ellie's birthday. I already achieved the Platinum trophy so for me I would say the game is underated and people just hate it because of Joel's death but they haven't even tried the game or didn't have it a chance . For me it should be the Game of the Year . Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I believe the risks taken with The Last of Us Part II"s narrative pays off and we're given a gripping, grim tale that is told through the perspectives of our main characters, Ellie and Abby. What I love most about this game is how similar Abby and Ellie are to each other to the point where they could be considered to be mirror images of one another. Throughout the story you learn about the pain that both of these characters go through and understand their reasoning and motivations behind their actions; as well as the impact that these actions have on the supporting characters. I believe this game to be so much more than a generic revenge tale that some fans of the first are dumbing it down to be. However, this game does lack any real replay value. There is new game plus but that feels more like a minimum with where games are today. Expand

When was the last time we saw a game take risks like this - Metal Gear Solid 2 maybe?

Not a lot of people are mentioning the gameplay of the game in their reviews and that is a real shame. Combat-wise this is probably the most satisfying third-person shooter I have played since the early Gears of War games and that is mostly down to how violent and satisfying it feels, when you shoot someone with a shotgun in this game you REALLY feel it. Overall the gameplay is very solid.

The game is by no means perfect however, it has some pacing issues and honestly could do with being at least 5 hours shorter. There are moments in the game when you are exploring for a while and it feels like the plot isn't really moving forward. The narrative structure of the game is also something I am not 100% keen on as it removes the emotion from some moments in the story that would have had more emotion to them if they were presented in a linear fashion. There are a few moments when the strange narrative structure works quite well however and it certainly makes the game feel unique and stand out.

We need more games to take risks like Last of Us 2 ore we will end up living in a generation of bland copy-paste sequels and I'm not ok with that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, game aside, I'm glad that ND went to such lengths to hide the plot, quash the leaks and even deceive fans re playable character's, Joel's involvement etc. Having waited so long for this game, it was far preferable, immersive and more impactful to play through naively blind!

The visuals and game mechanics in this game are stunning. Not to mention the music. ND have created a world that is beautiful to move through and, whilst the controls for performing actions are simple, the mechanics of performing certain actions (i.e. glass smashing) are really satisfying. The open-world of Downtown Seattle was a brilliant section to play through and gradually build up to more difficult sections later in the game.

Pacing-wise, it is slower than the first game and obviously much longer. However, by THE halfway point I was nowhere near ready for the game to be over. That being said, I found Abby's arc to be a bit too drawn out, with one too many visits to and from the aquarium. Whilst the encounters on the island with Lev are excellent, I don't feel as though the sections' inclusion added a great deal to the overall narrative.

In terms of the overall narrative, for me, ND accomplished what they set out to achieve. They took a character who you are supposed to despise, and they lead you to empathise with her story (in addition to taking a character you love and then questioning her actions). By the end of the game I didn't want either protagonist to be killed. And I didn't feel 'tricked' or 'coerced' into feeling that way, it was organic.

The game is obviously dark and there is a lot of sadness, but there are also lighter moments, often experienced through flashbacks. You get way more moments akin to the 'giraffe' scene from Part 1.

Overall, I admire the risks that have been taken in making this game as it is, and the fact that it is generating polarising reviews is, in a sense, a measure of its success. If you can play it with an open mind, engage with the decisions that are made on your behalf and try to understand the emotions of the characters then you'll find the game - if not the story - very fulfilling.

Could there be a Part 3 centring on the theme of redemption? Ellie battling her demons and ultimately seeking out Abby and the Fireflies to give herself up for a cure to be developed? I hope so. I'd also love a DLC where you play through the same 3 days from Tommy's perspective...

    Other likes:
    - The stories within the story, e.g. Boris the Bowhunter, that you discover through finding artefacts and notes.
    - The parallels with Part 1, e.g. David vs. Ellie and the first Abby vs. Ellie encounter. Also the interrogation techniques used by Tommy and Ellie, copying the methods of Joel in Part 1.
    - The anxiety you have of playing through for the first time. Creeping and sneaking through sections that don't end up having any enemies!

    Would have liked:
    - Ellie to put the sniping skills that she learned into practise.
    - Isaac to have been used more as an antagonist. You learn loads about him through notes during the first half of the game, but then he rarely appears and disappears quite anticlimactic. More emphasis on gim and his torturing of others might have helped the narrative flow in terms of Abby turning her back on the WLF.

    Questions:
    - If I get Ellie to leave a trap mine on the theatre fire escape, will Abby and Lev see it when they sneak in later?
    - If I run through the infected section that Abby plays through twice, will they still be there to attack the Scars on the return leg?

So as someone who fell hook line and sinker into "gamergate" when I was an impressionable child, I have to say that the reactions to the last of us 2, while extremely disappointing, are not unsurprising. The backlash from the old gamergate crowd has largely been the same as it was to the games that came out around the time I was falling for their tactics, forced diversity and all that.

I'm not going to sit around and say it's a perfect game, I think some characters lack the chemistry that Ellie and Joel had in the first game, but the characters progressed in a way that was not unearned. Ellie finding out what Joel did at the hospital driving them apart, as well as the guilt of not knowing.

The gameplay was not entirely different from the first game, but there were some aspects it improved upon. I personally feel like the weight of the weapons you are using really shines through in this game, even if some times it can seem a bit unrealistically gory for extra cool points. The puzzles, however, were a pretty big let down. There were a few great ones scattered around, but I recall one specific instance where I found a safe and was preparing to look for clues on the combination. When I began to walk around the room I almost immediately stopped, seeing the whiteboard that contained the code for the safe not 5 feet away from it in giant letters.

The plot, the area most people are bombarding with negative reviews, is not lacking in most regards. The previously mentioned lack of chemistry can mostly be chalked up to the phenomenal writing of the first game and how this story just fell short in some aspects, but comparing it to the old masterpiece makes it look far worse than it actually is, the characters are still likable and don't really force and political agenda (unless you consider the existence of other races and sexualities political).

All in all, give the game a try, especially if you like the first game, it builds on the old story and gives perspectives that we weren't privy to before. It shows the reality of living in a more brutal world and the consequences of the first game really play out in this one. Don't be fooled by a bunch of people who never even played the game (since most of the negative reviews came out within hours of the game's release) I think you'll enjoy it if you don't actively try to look for reasons it would offend you.

Overall for me it was an 8/10. Gameplay, visuals, sound, acting - all is 10/10 as you would expect from Naughty Dog. What made it an 8/10 was the story. Let me say this - it is super dark and depressive. If you thought the first game was depressive, well this whole game was like the cannibal section in the first game, but turned to 11. Like it's brutal, gory and unrelenting in its violence. Like it becomes uncomfortable at points for me. The story is structured in an unusual way. For me personally it made me very involved in the game but for some people the way it was presented was the biggest issue of the game. I will agree that the game is kind of an old take on a classic premise, but that is the same as saying the last of us was a cliché story about a zombie apocalypse. A lot of people were not happy about where the story went, but I believe that Naughty Dog does not owe them anything when it comes to creative liberties with the story. I agree with some reviewers that this should have been the 3rd game not the second and I kind of agree, but I also think that this game should not have existed in the first place. They should have left Joel and Ellie on their own as the first game kinda wrapped up their story rather well (IMO). If you liked the first game for it's gameplay and like great visuals then you will enjoy it just as much as I did. But some people seem to be butt hurt about the wrong reasons and I think they are just a bunch of crybabies who didn't get what they were imagining this game would be. I think in time this game will be just as big of a classic as the first game. #rantover

The Last of Us Part II is a fine follow up to the first game, there are plot holes, but the over all story I think is okay, it seams more human and real. Visually and audibly this game is a masterpiece, its definitely worth playing.

But is the game a 0 or a 1 for that? Hell no.. The visuals are one of THE most impresive ive ever seen. I cant belive it runs so well on a PS4 and its even more impresive on a PRO system. Sound and music is again one of THE best ive heard in a game. How the enemies communicate to each other is excellent. The clickers and the other infected are even more terifyin than the last game. Game play and the stealth is so damn fun and is a huge improvment from first game.

The only flaw i have with the game is the pasing and the story. And im not that upset with Joels death not the way he died. Sure i wish he could live but not all stories have a happy ending. In not a huge fan of flashbacks in games thou. And this game has ALOT of them unfortanetly. Witch ruins the pasing and mess up the immersion. And yeah, some of the directions and events in the story is.. a Little wierd, but its still enjoyable.

All and all its a damn fine game witch is really beatiful and fun to play with a story and pasing thats the only two things that hold it back a little.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m going to start this review by saying, this game Is not for everyone, but neither was TLOU part 1!

This is my 1st game review ever, but I feel compelled to add my 2 cents as I am a fan of the original and the zombie genre.

It’s important to understand that this game may upset the loyalist but remains true to the cinematic story created and in which you play countless hours traversing thru.

That being said, the world these characters live in is cold, violent, dangerous, painful, emotional, and most importantly has consequences.

Let’s first understand that TLOU part 1 is not Joel’s story. He is the vehicle that propels the story, which is Ellie’s story. Ellie is the cure; Ellie is the reason to go across the country to get her to the Fireflies; Ellie is the reason Joel transforms and wants to save the daughter he couldn’t. Joel’s story hasn’t been told. Joel’s story is in the 20 years between his daughter’s death and when he accepts to smuggle Ellie across the country. I assume that his story will be told with the TV show coming to HBO.

TLOU 2 is Abby’s story. She seeks revenge to kill Joel for killing her father. This was the consequence of saving Ellie in addition to stripping away humanity’s hope for a cure to the virus. A selfish act on Joel’s part, yet we celebrate that decision. It shouldn’t sit well with anyone despite it being a great game, but this game at its core is a cinematic experience and that’s what makes this game complex, emotional, and a masterpiece.

Story: Well if you played it then you know that gamers are split on the story. Some people hate it and some people love it. I have to look at this from both sides of the coin. As a game, it’s complex and I would have to say ahead of its time. Balancing the cinematic along with it being a game is a challenge. However, I do expect more of this with the upcoming PS5. The focus will be not just on gameplay but the incredible storytelling that will sway more towards the cinematic. Now the story in TLOU2 is a great cinematic experience full of violence, danger, pain, emotion, and most importantly consequences. As I mentioned, the story fits the world these characters are in, but I do think there could have been a better payoff at the end. A better ending would have been for ND to have us believe Ellie kills Abby, to later find out that she is actually still alive. This still would have given the gamer closer and still been a setup for a TLOU 3 which is what they intended with the current ending anyway. I think Naughty Dog would need to add a DLC that would entice us to buy TLOU 3. As it stands now there are too many people distraught over Joel’s death and Abby still gets to live. So, I get that. I think a DLC should focus on Lev and Abby in Catalina and the reemergence of the Fireflies as well as Ellie’s life after this experience. Will the Fireflies come after her for the cure? Will Ellie start her life outside of Jackson?

Gameplay: The gameplay mechanics are hands down incredible. Crafting is always fun and the game is more challenging than the first. I actually like Abby’s gun better so I had a blast playing 2 different characters with different weapons and strength. It was like playing 2 games in one. I also liked that ND added accessibility features which allows new players with a handicap to play. I think the gameplay was fun and well thought out. Thankfully that they didn’t change too much from the original game. Lastly, I like that I got to keep all my upgrades every time I play so that was cool.

Graphics: Stunning! The landscape is ridiculous and the best I have ever seen! The best scenes are when you first meet Lev and Yara and when Ellie chases Nora. Those were incredible sequences.

So, I will give this game an 8 overall. I think you have to just try to accept the story and trust in the journey. I think just a standard linear story would have been boring, so I like that ND tried to do something very different at the risk of losing some loyalists. They stayed true to the characters within this world they have created. However, without a DLC I think it would not excite most fans to return. One other thing I would like to see added is perhaps a way to skip some of the flashbacks for your 2nd walkthrough. It doesn’t add value to the gameplay and I just want to kill Scars, Rattlers, and Zombies. Lol! I think it’s a great game, but you must let the story carry you and not go against the grain. Enjoy the ride and you will enjoy it more.

Felt more like part two and three. It did drag on a bit. The ending has left me with questions. A very fun game to play. Story wise it wasn't as great as the first but still a good story of where Justice ends and revenge begins.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay in Part 2 was much like the first but a lot crisper and sharper. Completely submerged myself into the world of the game even though I disagreed with the approach they had for Joels outcome. Not mad he died, just disappointed they didn’t give him a better send off. If they had Abby SAVE Joel it wouldn’t of felt so empty when she kills him RIGHT after being saved. At the end I found myself not wanting Abby to die, even though it was obvious what Naughty dog was doing with petting the dogs, etc. I found myself hoping for a third part. Horrible writing at times but overall, a great game. Expand

The top art and music performance in the game industry, with the ultimate in detail. But all this is ruined by the disgusting script and the anti-player game experience. I am not particularly angry, but I feel it is a pity.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly don’t get the negativity behind this game, I’ve just finished playing and honestly, I cried many manly tears. When Joel died the way he did I was angry, sad and just confused, I didn’t know how to react and seeing Ellie just as this broken girl trying to grieve the passing of the only father figure she had in her life was truly heartbreaking to watch and play through.

The character development in this game is amazing because I went from hating Abby and the rest of the members of the knockoff Fireflies to actually liking them and hating the fact that they died, it’s safe to say playing this game is probably what it feels to have Bipolar, one minute I’m sad, one minute I’m happy and the next I’m pissed off by something that’s happened.

I almost lobbed my controller when Abby shot Tommy, I honestly thought she killed him, and I wasn’t ready for that to happen, not quite yet anyways.

I want to talk about the ending as that’s where people seem to be annoyed about the most which honestly I can kind of understand but the way I look at it is this, Ellie has lost everything, she has lost friends, she has lost her family, she has lost everything and now she is alone, I feel like she realised that she related to Abby at that moment when she was drowning her at sea and it was at that point Ellie simply, gave up. She saw that she would be no better than Abby in that situation, and I honestly love that ending, I would love to be able to play as Abby again if there is a third game which I honestly hope that’s there is. They left the game on a (somewhat) cliffhanger, Ellie arrives back home to find out that Dina has up and left with little baby JJ. I want to know what happens next and I hope I don’t have to wait 7 years to find out!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game isn’t perfect by any means, but i have come to enjoy it a lot. Joel’s death in the first 2 HOURS of gameplay was a ridiculously poor choice on naughty dogs end but I think it ultimately strengthens Ellie’s character much more ( btw she is a great character on her own ). Actual gameplay and visuals were absolutely phenomenal as well as the scenery, the only downside for me is the characters/character development. I think the whole switching to abby half way through the game is a very clever idea and it would help us sympathize with her more if her and her friends were interesting. I don’t get how we’re supposed to agree with a girl who just killed one of the most beloved characters in history whom which we’ve played an entire game with, all because we played 10 minutes with her and her dad. Maybe naughty dog didn’t want us to sympathize with abby but just understand where she’s coming from in which I do but her and her dads story do not hold a candle to Ellie and Joel’s. Also this is undoubtedly a trilogy, the ending sets us perfectly up for a 3rd game so let’s hope naughty dog gets their **** together. Expand

The Last Of Us II, Expand

One things for sure, it ain’t for everyone, I totally get why people like and don’t like this game. For sure it’s an ambitious game and sequel that has quite some balls and creative freedom the creators had, and I really appreciate that. But it could have been a bit better, with a restructure and certain scenes placed in different spots, and maybe some of Abby’s flashbacks cut out, this game would have been dramatically improved, I think. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Gameplay is improved upon from the first game but doesn’t blow me away as game changing. The infected AI makes them more annoying than scary or interesting puzzles at the very least. Human AI is better, especially at higher difficulties. This is a must play, even if Joel is killed in the beginning (it’s justified, still horrible, but justified). Expand

The Last of Us Part II
The Last of Us Part II к прохождению ? The Last of Us Part II
The Last of Us Part II .
Будет ли третья часть The Last of Us ?
The Last of Us Part II

I knew a little bit about the spoilers and was at first skeptical but then before playing decided to just go in with a clear mind. With that in mind, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the way the characters change, and the themes of trauma and forgiveness (it’s not a story about revenge...it’s a story about forgiveness. When you realize that the ending is sooo much better). The story isn’t by any means perfect. There are a few areas I thought were weak and I wish they had focused a bit more on. Definitely some chronological changes I would love to see made which might help the pacing and tension of some scenes. Graphics and attention to detail are top notch. I don’t really recall any bugs in the game at all: major or minor. Very well polished up product, technically speaking. The music and atmosphere in which the story takes place are very engrossing. It’s easy to get lost in the vibe of the game, which is always a cool thing. Exploring such a huge city was neat. Anyways. It’s a great game. It’s got a great lesson in it. The story can be pretty **** heavy at times, so grab a stiff drink and be prepared to want to talk to your therapist again afterwards. Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
