    I have to admit I didn’t enjoy the game quite as much as the first one, but not from any lack of quality gameplay or poor storytelling. The users giving this game a super low rating are just immature and frustrated that naughty dog didn’t do what Star Wars the force awakens did and play fan service, giving people what they thought they wanted- or they’re homophobic and can’t keep an openI have to admit I didn’t enjoy the game quite as much as the first one, but not from any lack of quality gameplay or poor storytelling. The story here is unmatched by any other video game out there and probably 95% of movies out there, but it’s just so heartbreaking watching these events happen to characters that you have grown to love. But that’s life and sometimes stories are sad- that doesn’t make them bad stories- they make you feel things. Naughty dog was in a unique situation coming into this game where we care so much about them and that could be a gift or a curse. This game would not have worked if it wasn’t for the first game where they had a chance to build that backstory. I laughed and I cried. By the time it was done I just felt shaken, but I’m pretty sure that’s what they were going for. I was left wishing things ended differently but again not because it was a bad ending, but because I just wanted so much more for Joel and Ellie...however this was an amazing game with ALL the feels... … Expand

    This game is not bad actually part 2 is good. if you play until end you gonna like it. However story little problem for me on the other hand first and second chapter are boring but then going to good. Enemy.place,shooting are amazing. When you reach final you will see very epic scenes and that’s enogh for me. Good and diffrent you should play when you catch discount.

    First, TLOU2 probably has the best graphics on PS4 Pro and it's not even close. Unfortunately, that's about the only positive thing to say. By far the worst character development and story I've played. Didn't pay attention to the leaks but probably should have so i wouldn't have wasted my time or money on this trash. Last of Us was such an amazing game, can't believe they ruined this.

    Trama noiosa e insensata, già il fatto che joel all inizio muoia fidandosi di abby non ha senso stessa cosa il finale, c e ellie smette di uccidere abby perche pensa a joel?!? Tralaltro il finale lascia supporre l uscita di 3... dovrò aspettare altri 7 anni per un altra cagata del genere?

    The game is great, has excellent game dynamics, best implementation of the touchpad on the controller so far, the scenarios are beautiful, story is also really good but its not the story you wanted for joel and ellie.

    One word "Masterpiece". Yes some story arcs were difficult to take in at first but as we progress further in the story it all make sense. TBH i never treated TLOU as a "game" but have always treated it as an experience & with sequel i was ready for another experience and it certainly lived up to my expectations.

    This game has many flaws in storytelling and execution.. Graphics and environment are great but that doesn't make up for the way ND chose to tell their story. You simply can't have me play 20 hours killing people and infected and watching Ellie suffer for revenge so that in the end she decides to forgive and move on.... and ffs we get it its 2020 gay people exist just don't force feed itThis game has many flaws in storytelling and execution.. The writing is off at some parts and they do things so out of character for the characters we love. Its such a disappointment your better off not playing it. This is a byproduct of a developer thinking of themselves as an “artist” and that everything they do is “art”. The story is terrible and it ruins the legacy of the first game, just because Druckmann had to stroke his giant ego because he thinks no one loves the characters as much as he does, which is arrogant and insulting to the fans. The execution of Joel’s death was the most pathetic, shock value writing I have ever witnessed even though I was expecting Joel to die. Every character is utterly bland and uninteresting. Naughty Dog sacrificed the character development of Ellie and Dina for Abby and her friends, who everyone hates. Playing as Abby feels like a forced attempt to make us like her, an irredeemable character. Everyone bought this game because they thought they would be playing as Ellie and it would be her story. If I had known half the game would be Abby’s, I would not have bought the game. I don’t know why a game company would sabotage their own game like this. I would rate it more than a 0 because of the graphics and sound quality, but in 2020, every game has great graphics and sound design. What made The Last of Us II the most anticipated game of the generation was the story, which it hopelessly failed to tell.… Expand

Because this the type of garbage usually comes out if you don't (Refer Death Stranding and its "hype").People may love it or not but choice should be ours about it storywise don't force us to watch the drama that is unfolding right in front of us. I still don't see why the reviews worship this game.

    They should at least give us a chance to make up our own minds about killing the person who kills Joel .This actually makes the whole time you spend this game playing useless.I mean if you gonna stop mid way might as well don't leave Jackson all together. Open up a farm or **** This game is the definition of Cock Block. And after that we are forced to play her. **** i don't wanna play her. I don't even care about her, i just wanted to play Joel and Ellie. But you gon and **** that up and you killed JOEL in the first few hours and telling me look she did it and this her reason now go and play with her and watch her drama a little bit.

    Don't force us to killl half of Seattle just to arrive the Killing is Bad and you should feel bad conclusion. Even porn movies have a better storytelling than this one.

If a character dies or you ply as someone other than Ellie/Joel, that isn’t a bad thing, it’s refreshing to get to see another perspective. Ignore the bad reviews and play the game,This game is a solid 10/10....     Плюсы: Много новых механик, чуть ли не эталонный геймплей, хороший сюжет, игра очень приятна глазу
    Минусы: Слишком большая длительность, некоторые персонажи очень сильно бесят, концовка крайне сумбурна
    Ставлю 10/10 потому что не смотря на минусы игра окупает себя эмоционально    Плюсы: Много новых механик, чуть ли не эталонный геймплей, хороший сюжет, игра очень приятна глазу

Ok if we talk about the graphics of this games, we need to agree on this, they are gorgeous, the gameplay was ok, it wasn't great but it had some upgrades and smoothness while in combat, but what hits down this game into a six, is the story, it has so many plot holes and some characteristics that characters own that have nothing to do with their characteristics in the first game. For example, Joel, Joel in the first game is an unconfident man he does not trust anyone in the first game, he literally runs over a guy because he did not trust that he was injured and he knows it was an ambush, so now tell me where are this characteristic, Joel has, he literally just trust a group of guys, tells them their real names, where they live, and for worst they tell this group of not known people if they wanted they could go get supplies in their town, that just not characteristics of Joel and Tommy they would not trust anyone. It's just stupid, and finally the ending, wow that ending could not be more trash, just very poor storytelling. What a mess.… Expand

    7 long years waiting for this game and I finished it (in survivor mode).
    What an experience.
    The graphics are just insane (played it on ps4 not pro), the lighting is just breathtaking in this game. Gameplay improved alot and is good enough but it feels kinda "old" if that makes any sense, thanks to the few new functionnalities like proning and dodging for making the game and combats    7 long years waiting for this game and I finished it (in survivor mode).
    What an experience.

    IA are really good surprisingly, **** intelligent, flanking you all over the place, once they see someone dead they just tell everybody around them and everybody starts searching everywhere even under cars for you.
    Semi open-world game, level design is amazing.
    Biggest disappointment isn't really the story nor the writing.
    The story was good, the pacing/rythm of it felt really slow and I understand that anyone could be lost in it, chronologically it's a f*cking mess.
    All in all, love the game, isn't as good as the first game but is really good (IN MY OPINION)    … Expand

    This game is not as bad as everyone says it is, but it isn't perfect. It is really boring at points, especially in the second half. The combat didn't change much other than the fact you can dodge and go prone. The story was fine, but pretty bad for a Last of Us sequel. The graphics are incredible. Story - 5/10. Gameplay - 7/10. Graphics- 10/10.

    Probably the best characterisation of any game to date. Helped no end by the facial animation. Even better than the previous high water mark of Horizon Zero Dawn. Graphically excellent. Audio is superb and woven into the game mechanics really nicely. Combat always feels like I could have done it better but stealth works far better than in most games. Scavenging becomes a bit tiresome butProbably the best characterisation of any game to date. Helped no end by the facial animation. Even better than the previous high water mark of Horizon Zero Dawn. Not sure the enemies calling each other by name makes me feel any less guilty when everyone you meet seems to be a psychotic murderer!     The Story was not as bad as most reviews are telling you.

    Yes, Joel dies. Okay, he dies in a shameful way, can't deny this. But the story builds on that fact, that Joel was killed with a golf club.

    The more you play, the more the game is an emotional roller coaster. Sometimes I really hated TLOU2, sometimes I absolutely loved it. In the end, the Game is worth the AAA-Price of 60$.    … Expand

Because that'll make the ending OK (ish), I feel this game should've been labelled Part 3, Then I'd have more truck with the Abby and Ellie feud ending as it stands, with part 2 being the story of Ellie coming to terms with how Joel lied to her about the Hospital, Having said that. Since I now know Joel's dead, What would the point of that game be now

How many narrow passages can I crawl through before I realize there is always going to be a zombie or person who wants to murder me on the other side? Gameplay was repetitive. Jump some ledges, encounter some bad humans, go in a building and fight zombies. Search for loot. Repeat for 20 hours.

    The story, well, not what I wanted, but it was also a jumbled mess that really wanted to convey something to all of us. I don’t think it succeeded at accomplishing that goal, whatever it was.    … Expand

    The game improves upon every aspect of its predecessor - graphics are more realistic, sound design is memorable, gameplay is more dynamic and the story hits emotional heights rivalled by very few games. An absolute masterpiece that not only does the original game justice, but it also elevates it as part of a bigger, bolder picture.

    no entiendo como puede estar todo tan bien ( gráficos jugabilidad inversión ost ) y la historia tan mal cuando en este tipo de juegos la historia es lo mas importante. en mi caso personal los juego por pura historia por ser yo el protagonista de la historia si busco jugabilidad retos o mecánicas complejas en lo personal me voy a juegos competitivos y ya pero estos juegos ni siquiera losno entiendo como puede estar todo tan bien ( gráficos jugabilidad inversión ost ) y la historia tan mal cuando en este tipo de juegos la historia es lo mas importante. en mi caso personal los juego por pura historia por ser yo el protagonista de la historia si busco jugabilidad retos o mecánicas complejas en lo personal me voy a juegos competitivos y ya pero estos juegos ni siquiera los subo de dificultad los jugo en la normal la cual me parece extremadamente fácil pero es que no quiero complicarme solo perderme en una buena historia y esto es terrible terrible historia terrible desarrollo no se ni como explicarlo de verdad no entiendo nada le doy un 3 por que técnicamente es genial pero la historia tiene un 0 no recuerdo la ultima vez que tuve un hype tan alto y una decepción tan grande… Expand

    I think the hate is blown out of proportion, even if u don't like the story (so far I personally like it), there's plenty of other stuff to enjoy here (world, gameplay, visuals, sound, animations etc.) In no way shape or form does this deserve a zero!

    i'm gonna ask u this, how many good games have u played that had "bad writing" but u still enjoyed them?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. La jugabilidad no esta mala dentro de todo pero hay momentos en los que la inteligencia artificial se ve risible sobre todo cuando vas arrastrandote y ya a las dos horas el juego se torna monotono, graficos geniales, arte muy bueno.

    La historia en si no es mal y sobretodo el final, hay muchas cosas inorganicas como, el echo que dejaran ellie y tommy vivos (raro). Que no hubiera otros doctores para desarrollar la cura me parece ridiculo.
    No logras conectar con abby, tal ves si jugaras desde el principio con ella y vieras su pasado des de el inicio se puediera empatizar mas pero no tiene sentido ya a mitad del juego que me muestres su pasado

    El final el mensaje no esta del todo ma, el ehco de que le arrebatarn a elli otra vez algo que ella anhelaba que era perdonar joel, (en el primero juego fue ser de ayuda para salvar a la humanidad) me parece un mensaje super intreresante, pero el problema es queenunca me mostraste en el desarrollo del personaje de ellie que ella pudiera dejar viva a abby, jamas me mostraste un pensamiento si quiera de compasion para con ella, por eso el final se siente inorganico y forzado , todo para darme un mensja e de que no valio la pena el vijae, que no es un mal mensaje por que es algo interesante y nuevo , pero repito la forma en la que lo hicieron no fue la mejor.
    Hubiera sido mas epico que elli matara a abby y que ella quedar tendida en medio del mar con el cadaver de abby alado viendo que ni la venganza habia valido la pena.

Attention spoilers about the history and gameplay on this review, this is a great game that deserves to be played before judged, if you do not understand why I gave it a 10 after having played it almost 28 hours and you think it is okay to give it a 0, or anything below 8 without even having played it, then you are the one with the problem and you should not judge before knowing.

    I think the game was superior to the first one in all aspects, starting with the playable aspects such as combat on wich the animations are much more fluid and realistic, stealth as always plays an important role, but now the enemies seem to have more communication between them , the scars whistle in code, the wolfs shout the names of their companions and they have dogs that sniff you and there is more variety of infected. The only thing I can criticize the gameplay is that the AI is sometimes not up to it (rare), inventory management is much better too, the transition between changing one weapon ti another or hitting an enemy is seamless and the we can always see the weapons equipped in the back or backpack of our character, crafting and collecting resources is entertaining as always, but here we have weapons mods that look and feel great.

    The ambientation, environments and its locations are another very strong point of this game compared to the previous one, the spore areas are dark, foggy, with very realistic ambient light and full of enemies, the ambient sounds and the noises the infected make you nervous. The apocalyptic version of the city of Seattle is extremely detailed, it has scenes full of overgrown vegetation, ruins, even a river with rapids and as it constantly rains everything is deteriorated, the jets of water that fall from the buildings and the puddles they create are very realistic, also the game surprised me with so many well detailed interiors as shops, gyms, restaurants, apartments etc.

    The history is the controversial part of the game, I have never been a fan of temporary jumps in movies or video games, and although I do not love them here, I must say that if they are very effective in showing the story first from Ellie's perspective - Spoiler Ahead - when Abey kills Joel, I was really shocked and she and her friends seemed the worst thugs to me, I couldn't wait for Ellie to take her revenge. I must emphasize that I did not read the spoilers of the game, I entered playing it blindly so I thought Dina was the one who died and that Ellie wanted her to avenge her, but when I saw that it was Joel the one who dies, Ellie's actions seemed justified to me, that until we reached the part of the game where you control Abby, there you get to know her better, this part where you control her was quite long too, almost as much as Ellie's and during all her journeys you get to know the character better and her friends much much better, turns out I liked some of her friends even more than Ellie´s friends like Owen, Manny and Nora are my favorites, when I saw that Joel killed his Father, I was still on Ellie's side in taking her revenge, but when Abby started helping the Scar brothers and tried to seek some kind of redemption to calm her conscience for what she did to Joel, I knew she was the same as Ellie and at that moment I didn't want she or Ellie to died, when the end was near I thought that maybe I would not like it but I did liked it,I am not going to discuss the end but I can say to other reviewers that said that Ellie was not faithful to her character because of her last action, you are wrong, she indeed killed alot os people to get to her revenge but at the end I think she finally realized that killing her wil not make her happy and that at the end Abby was a person like her that suffer alot because of this revenge the two had, she was ready to let go and she did.

    So, this game is the best until now of 2020, the only negatives I found was that Dina I never really liked me, I don't know why, also I am sad that Joel died, he was a terrific character but I think it was something that gave the story a lot of strength and that resulted in the rebirth of both main characters. We have an Ellie who can forgive when it is right and a new possible protagonist for some future game. The graphics although they are great I think they made my PS4 cry the and sometimes the textures did not always load or looked the best so I can not wait for the PS5, but all this seems superfluous and did not affect my enjoyment with the game at all.    … Expand

No me gusto el movimiento de los personajes, les falta fluidez cuando tienes que girar, parece que van caminando de lado


    Gráficos 9, es un juego muy bonito visualmente, pero aún asi, creo que queda por debajo de un Red Dead Redemption 2, por ejemplo, y tiene un ligero popping a pesar de haberlo jugado en una PRO.


    Música 8, no está mal, pero tampoco percibí nada remarcable a excepción del cover que canta Ellie, considero mejor la música de la primera parte.


    Narrativa 6, considero que los giros argumentales son buenos, pero caen en la exageración al repetir constantemente temáticas de lo políticamente correcto, y para mí lo peor, su insistencia por querer meterte con calzador a cierto personaje para que empatices con su causa cuando has pasado toda la historia defendiendo y amando a otros personajes, y el hecho de tener que jugar con este nuevo personaje para golpear a nuestra querida Ellie fue devastador, estuve tentado a dejar hasta ahí el videojuego porque es algo que no quería hacer.    … Expand

Joel gets killed straight away (the relationship was what made the first game interesting), there's zero chemistry between Ellie and Dina (it feels like the relationship is forced in to earn equality points), you're forced to play as Abby (when we've spent the first 13 hours building up hatred towards her).

    I'm glad I'm only watching the game and haven't given them any money for this garbage.

I wanted to save my judgement after I finished the whole game and man it was a disappointment. I gave it like 4/10 because of all the handwork people have put in graphic or game play wise. But man I didn't come to Last of Us for that I came for the story, build on from the part 1. I don't know if the devs or director are trying to be different just cause they wanna be different but man there are so many points in the game so unnecessary doesn't build anything from the part 1. It makes sense when director and the writer for part 1 left, which now I feel like they shouldn't even made part 2 better they left the series when part 1 ended. I dont even wanna start talking about Joel, who was our avatar through out the first part, I didn't even get to play him like wtf, we knew he was gonna die but killing him in unbelievable **** way ,by a **** character named abby. Imagine playing a person who just killed a character what you came to play, yeah they wanted to be different took a risk etc, why tho. They are showing "She got a reason too" and I have to fight Ellie , cause some **** character from the first part had some revenge. Man whoever leaked the plot good cause spending 60 dollars during this pandemic on this **** writing is not worth it. Main thing "Cycle of revenge isn't it a horrible thing" man wtf no **** but its a game goddamn it. We didn't see more of Issac or the scar group. We didn't go more into furthering into the lore of the apocalypse . The ending was so **** cant even build empathy such a bad story telling, I dont know how many times I have said it so awful.     Мне кажется, что сюжет имел потенциал быть шедевром, но Дракманн хотел сесть сразу на три стула и не дотянул. Пытается рассказать психологический хоррор Элли про ненависть и месть, еще хочет раскрыть "серую мораль" и двумя сторонами конфликта, и вагон ЛГБТ туда загрузить в придачу.

    По мне так концовка игры сама по себе очень хороша и всё-таки могла сработать мощно для многих, если бы нас не отрывали от Элли на целых 10 часов подряд и не пытались всё это время оправдать и продать нам Эбби.
    (Хотя не сказать, что в первая половина сюжета Элли использует свой потенциал, уж очень много беготни туда-сюда без всякого продвижения по истории)

    Вообще вся сюжетка за Эбби ощущается какой-то механической и в лоб, особенно её страх высоты, который будто так и введён для галочки, чтобы у героя была "слабость", и мы сочувствовали:(((. Я понял, что они хотели сделать, тыкая меня носом в параллели с судьбой Элли, (МузейАквариум и проч.), но лично мне, играя за неё, больше всего хотелось просто побыстрее пробежать до кульминации. Её отношения с Оуэном были любопытны мне ровно до сцены секса - пиздец ужасно и неуместно, перегиб с "серой моралью", после которого теряется всё уважение к Оуэну. (А то, как они пердолятся, отпечатается в памяти навсегда).

    Флешбеки с Джоелом и Элли - само собой жемчужина игры и ощущаются на совсем другом уровне. То ли это нереальная химия Эшли Джонсон и Троя Бейкера, то ли Дракманн всё еще любит только этих персонажей, но в его уважении к Джоелу я не сомневаюсь.

    Дина - тупо байт на "месть лесбиянки" для рекламной кампании, а жаль. Я не против их любви с Элли, но вы сами знаете, насколько их отношения в итоге раскрыты.

    Джесси и правда показался лучшим новым героем, но слили его просто ужасно.

I never noticed something i didn’t like in part 2. It’s on a good way to become my favorite game of all time...

Totally ambiguous about the way his personality was in the first game and now - the precautions he would take. Being rejected by Ellie for years after telling her the truth.

    - Major disrespect with the other of the two protagonists: killing a lot of people, losing two fingers and being unable to play guitar properly (it being Joel's legacy to her); getting a friend shot in the head in front of her; having her loved and pregnant girlfriend being threatened in front of her eyes and unable to do nothing to stop it; getting her 'uncle' shot and physically debilitated also in front of her; and goes without saying, watching Joel get massacred in front of her eyes also being unable to do anything.

    I'll try to make it in actual short points because these negative things are just so ridiculous that, as you can see, I got driven by them.

    - They screwed the relation between Ellie and Joel, which was what the fans loved. I mean, it there, but like I said, it's just a slice and it's completely shadowed by the rest of the trash writing.
    - Players forced to play as Abby, forced to see her as a 'not too bad person that tried to redeem herself and didn't deserve to die' at the end. I mean, all I wanted was to kill her at some point. And you tell me that this is about realism? It's a game, the point of it is exactly to do things as far as our fantasy and the game can lead us. But this one don't let you go too far about this because of some sort of 'Joel wouldn't want me to do this' ethics. Joel literally just murdered hundreds to save Ellie, and certainly would go way more far than Tommy torturing some guys to revenge Ellie if it was the opposite.

    - Have I said that Ellie just lose two fingers?
    - I cant do this anymore. What a way to do a disgrace in comparison with the masterpiece first game.

    Sorry about my english or anything in that sense, I'm from Brazil and writing this at 3 am.

    Technical score: 9/10
    Writing/Story score: 2/10 (1 point, that slice of a beautiful scene between them and 1 point because I also liked the relation between Ellie and Dina, and also because how they did look Tommy at that sniping chasing scene, just showing how brutal he is - by the way, they just butchered these things too: 1) Dina couldn't stand Ellie leaving again and 2) they physically disabled Tommy and he lost his wife - I mean, at this point just looked like they where trying to put as much terrible things as possible to give any sense of drama? It ended up being ridiculous after all.

    Assuming that story has more 'score weigh' than technical score, I'd give this game a,

    The music, the gameplay and the atmosphere are all great, but I just don't feel the story. I can see what they where trying to do with playing Abby to sympathies with her, but it's doesn't click with me. And the pacing is just off putting. Also the ending and the last flashback seemed weird, Ellie had a family, a home and everything seemed fine, but then Tommy comes out of nowhere to have Ellie kill Abby. Which she doesn't do, I know they want her break the ''cycle of revenge'', but it would have been better if she killed and gets back home, the same ending is happening and she realizes that it didn't fulfill her. In a way the ending is just that but it would have filled the players that didn't like Abby with satisfaction, and the players that like her would have been broken like the game wants the player to feel as it seems. Also the Joel Cutscene, she can forgive Abby but doesn't forgive Joel, I can see why but I just feels so rushed in the End. Anyway I would have liked a totally different story to begin with, maybe where they explore Ellies Immunity or maybe just a game where Abby is played with no Joel and Ellie. But that's just my Opinion, not a fact.    … Expand

Изначально я ставил этой игре 7 баллов, но за время написания этого текста я понял, что она не дотягивает до этой оценки и 5 баллов для нее потолок.     After beating the game 4 days after release, and I'm now doing a second playthrough.
    The only small issue is, that I've already seen the story conclusion.

    The only small issue is, that I've already seen the story conclusion.

    Yet, watching it unfold on the hardest difficulty once more. I now have the knowledge that I get to experience one of the greatest games in my 18 years of gaming. For another go-round! As it goes, for me The Last Of Us 2 is trilling and fascinating.
    There where moments where I wanted to put the controller down because of the things the characters had to do. For the most the game is relentless and perhaps to it's detriment, at a point in time when we switch gears in the second half. Graphics and animations are like looking into a cinematic art gallery. It's also just amplified by great performance from the cast that I eventually grew fond of.

    Combat always pushed the pace for me and I love playing with the battle encounters and set pieces that had me putting my hands over my head several times. There were points, where I had grown vicious towards the inhabitants of the game. But then started to question "Was there another way to deal with the situation?".

    Also, we get great sounds effects from the explosions, to well produce sounds of Clickers and bad guys yearning in pain.

    I have must point out a musical instrument that plays in later intense encounters. Felt like it was a mix of Hunter being Hunted, or like"Jaws" but I'm the shark moving in for the kill. The score in the game is fantastic. However I did see some glitches here and there, but that was into my second playthrough. Side note there is a moment in the game that I tulry wish I had when I was a kid. You will know when you get there. Is the game perfect? no game is None the less, the game is a bash. The Last Of Us 2 is gaming royalty. I did not expect much from the game. Yet, it gave me a perspective I did not ask for, but needed. It made me understand some meanings of obsession, forgiveness, war, love, and the cycle of pain and loss.

    What's more it's a tale that you truly need to see through, like the two sides of a coin, to appreciate.    … Expand

    This game rocks. The details alone warrant a playthrough. Everyone is wining about the story but it not bad at all. Great story telling really. Weaving multiply characters paths over the span of days. Combat is the best Naughty Dog has ever done. The only real problem to me is the length, game is to long. I believe in forgiveness and consider a socialist myself, but this story didn't feel consistent, forcing me to play 10 hours as somebody I hated and forgave her, that ending was some real far left BS.… Expand

The message the game wants to tell you (in general, as well as in individual scenes) feel very transparent, cheap and cheated. There are many noticeable plot conveniences that you can see right through, which takesGameplay, Graphics, Music, etc. are the greatest you'll ever get to see on a PS4 (Pro). But the story, it feels like, tarnishes all beloved characters from Pt. I w/o hesitation. The message the game wants to tell you (in general, as well as in individual scenes) feel very transparent, cheap and cheated. There are many noticeable plot conveniences that you can see right through, which takes away some immersion.

    As a massive fan of the first part I feel violated and manipulated, it feels like some scenes were done because ND knew that they'd get emotions out of fans like that easily. The overall tone of the game is just extremely sad and depressing. Neil Druckmann in an interview even said, when asked whether the player is deliberately made feel bad, that yes, players should not have fun with this game.

    In the end everything that was great about the first part has been tarnished for no reason, no conclusion and most importantly a (what feels like) really cheap and cheesy message.

    If you liked the first game for the characters and their relationships, this game is probably not for you. I hate myself for saying this, but I wish this game was never made. Again, as a huge fan of the first part it pains me so so much, if however you're new to the franchise or loved the first game for its gameplay this'll be a great (as far as a depressing story can go) experience for you. In the end, I neither hate nor love this game, it's just okay.    … Expand

    You probably noticed that a bunch of people hate this game for some reason. A lot of stuff happens in the story that you would not expect, and I think it upset a few folks. Please play it for yourself before drawing any conclusions and keep an open mind! You might be surprised.    I really, really loved this game.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
