    Amazing game. The graphics are breathtaking, the gameplay is great and every character is just lovable. Naughty Dog has done it again.

    The Last of Us 2 offers an unforgettable story that I wouldn’t want to have missed. Gameplay is linear and repetitive at times, but the story makes up for it.

    The gameplay is solid. The developers expanded on the gameplay, removed certain aspects that made the pace slower and not as fun like crafting shyvs to kill clickers. The shyv no longer needs to be crafted as we have one that never breaks. The stealth is better with more open areas to stealth through. The music is just as good as the first game.     The music is just as good as the first game.

    The story is where everyone fails to see how good this game is. Everything in this games story focuses on the central theme of forgiveness. The game is heavy handed in showing how revenge destroys you as a person. It builds off the last games trope of characters making selfish decisions due to events that happened affecting each character personally. Joel dooms humankind to save a girl that reminds him of his daughter that was killed. His decision in this matter is completely selfish. In the sequel we see a new character abby make a selfish decision based off the act of another joel killing her brother. Much like joel's decision to kill all the fireflies in the first game. This decision affects ellie and causes her to make her own selfish decision that hurts others around her. Through out the game we see ellie grapple with the fact joel made a decision she did not agree with. Ultimately the story is about ellie forgiving joel. But really its about forgiving abby for her sins as well. Its a heartwarming tale about how even if the jury and the judge tells you, you have a right to hold a grudge, you can still forgive.

There's even an anecdote that he himself tells about firing a tester who disagreed with him.     Graphics are outstanding, gameplay is ok. The story is a major let down. Also too much slow time in between events. As well as way too short for a full price game.

    One of the most dark games I've ever played. Such a good time I spent playing it. Great difficulty, graphics, and many points of view through a perfect playability. You feel this game in every sense.

    Great looking game and gameplay mechanics are insane definitely one of the best of the year for me but I can see how people can be divided about the game especially the story but personally I dig the different take they went and it's done now so there's nothing we can do to change it and I was able to accept it .

Joel knew he was a terrible human being in the past and murdered dozens of innocent people along with other evil people. He knew it was a long time coming. Abby is the female version of Joel. She has also killed ruthlessly with no remorse. This game is about ELLIE, ABBY and JOEL and there personal journey of losing everything they love because of their blind rage. This story was used to show us the cycle of violence and how it can literally tear entire societies and families apart. 10/10 for this game. I wish I got to experience Joel and Ellie’s tight relationship on ONE MORE journey though. :,( THANK YOU NEIL, TROY, ASHLEY and NAUGHTY DOG for this MASTERPIEVE… Expand

    PROS:
    Game looks phenomenal
    Game play is smooth
    Audio and music is on point
    Moments of real feeling and relating to the character

    CONS:
    Story line...... wtf & why
    Character model (abby) not consistent and unrealistic
    Too much push on LGBTQ
    Poor choice of over all message during sensitive pandemic

    So let me explain my 6 rating.. It would have been much much higher... There were just certain aspects that made me almost quit... Aside from the obvious, in your face LGBTQ, which became almost comical, it was Abbys character model that was so ridiculous and unsightly. It was never consistent. He beefy muscles fluctuated in size from scene to scene. Maybe not so damning if you werent forces to play her so long.....

    Then there was the story... Dear lord.. the story.. The first ends on a note of love and going to extremes for those you love.... But this one.... hate, revenge, loss, grief.. It tore down Ellie and Joels character to the point I didnt even like Ellie at the end...

    For me.... This was just a heinous act at such a sensitive time. We are all suffering a pandemic. We have been locked inside. Little to look forward to in 2020. For some... waiting YEARS for this game, saw a glimmer of hope in the release of this game..... I would not be surprised if this game threw some into a deeper depression. Reckless and there was no need to degrade our beloved characters to the point they did....    … Expand

    Amazing. I don't get all the hate the game is getting. The story is a great, a narrative that focus on the characters and their emotions. Here is my 10 to better the score. People bashing it for the protagonist sexuality...damn, someone tell them it's 2020, take your pitchforks somewhere else.

    Great game. People are dumb for hating on it. Great mechanics, combat is flawless; shooting is very advanced and better than the original. The story is realistic, it's not always lullabies and butterflies. It's a **** zombie apocalypse!

I absolutely loved this game and I think Naughty Dog should be at least commended for trying out something quite different and more risky than most other story-driven games in recent times. I can definitely see why some people aren't happy with the direction that this game went, especially since it begins with the death of a beloved character, but don't dismiss it as "bad writing" just because your favorite character dies - the world of this game is unforgiving and relentless. Beyond that, I'm glad that this game isn't just a cut-and-dry revenge story. On the surface, this game seems like it's completely centered around hate, but I feel like the game is more a cautionary tale of obsession and the importance of forgiveness and letting go of the past, and I respect this more nuanced take that the studio had decided to go with. Yes, it would've been satisfying to have killed Abby at the end, but that would have undermined the entire point of the game: that revenge won't undo the deeds of the past, and that the best way to deal with loss is not to dwell on it but to move on. Besides the story, this has some of the best music, acting and graphics of any PlayStation game to date. The gameplay's pretty smooth and it's solid as a stealth/action game. However, my biggest gripe with the game is probably through it's pacing - Ellie's first 3 days in Seattle I'm okay with, but Abby's part (especially day 1) felt like it was dragging on a little bit since it was jarring how all the momentum that had built up to the conclusion of Ellie's day 3 was just suddenly lost. Otherwise, this is a great, emotional journey that I would recommend any Last of Us 1 fan to at least experience with an open mind. Regarding the hate for the game, there is definitely some valid criticism, but I wouldn't blindly base my opinion on the game based on story beats without any context or based on what other people online say about it. And that goes for both sides.… Expand

Mister Neil we hate what you have done with the story and the characters i really dont mind Abby but after what i have seen i dont care Joel killed her father he was just an npc in the first one i felt nothing then and i feel nothing now you let her kill one of the best characters in gaming and expect people to sympathize with her and at the end Ellie doesnt even get her revenge she just lets her walk away. I dont mind the represation of LGBT and the other stuff its the story thats bad that i dont like it that doesnt make me a homophobe or a transphobic i am very pro for it but i dont like your s***y story that doesnt mean that i hate trans people or homosexual people its the story thast s***t thats it learn the f***g difference… Expand

A good story doesn't deserve a bad sequel.

    I'd give awards to the artists, not the writers the writers/directors deserve nothing imo. Gameplay you will have some exciting running scenes/fighting, some nice action on occasion.. Will you like this game? probably not. You will feel bummed out more than you will feel the feeling of fun, they didn't add much new gameplay mechanics from the 1st game. Games are made for entertainment and story, this fails on both and that for most people. The action, the game play, the gore, the heart-wrenching story... I felt every emotion running through my body whilst playing the game. Even the "death scene" of you-know-who made me not want to quit, but continue on, because I'd feel exactly like Ellie in wanting revenge! But then to my horror and disgust, I started to play the villain! Ugh, I was mad... I hated her. But as I continued on, she's not half bad. I still blame her though, since technically her dad was going to kill Ellie, so what did she expect? But anywho, it's not that I like Abby now, but I did understand how it came to this. Although I can do without the Abby sex scene, I find myself hoping Ellie wouldn't kill her in the end (if you havent played it yet, then play it to see what really happened ;). The romance between Ellie & Dina is organic and realistic, made me smile (as I would on any sweet, romantic couples/stories in the middle of an apocalypse). All-in-all, loved it!!! Can't wait to see more of Ellie (praying it would happen), but for now, I'll have my hands full (with all fingers intact ;) with the next anticipated game of the year, Cyber Punk. It really is a well crafted title in terms of gameplay, sound and visuals. After playing the original Last of Us probably around 10 times through because it’s one of my favorite games of all time I was extremely excited to play part 2. I stayed away from all the leaks and went into the game with very high expectations. I even preordered the special edition and the ps4 pro console edition. After finishing the game I was extremely disappointed. Naughty Dog and Sony deceived me from the trailers. Scenes they provided with every trailer I saw made me believe he was a vital part of the game. However what they did was model swap him and change his appearance from flashbacks. They then decide to kill Joel off and make you play as his killer for half of the game. Playing as Abbey was brutal to play through. There was not a single second playing through her story that I enjoyed. And not one time did I emphasized with her character. Sony and Naughty Dog deliberately kept her out of the trailers and reviews because they knew if the fans found out about playing half of the game as her they would not have bought the game. I am extremely disappointed. I don’t believe I will ever be able to play the game through again. Playing as Abbey was punch in the face to fans.

    The game is almost a complete waste of money the good bits graphics and music (by now most games should be topping 8 or 9 for music scores). The bad bits game-play hasn’t moved on in 7 years, the amount of time where you don’t really do much and the story which is more like fan fiction. Thank god I borrowed it rather then paid for it.

    I can't say I enjoyed every minute of this game, but I did want to play every minute of it. I have never played a game that led me through so many contrasting emotions. There were moments I really loved and moments I truly hated. I was uncomfortable, I cried, I hated Naughty dog, I laughed, I was tired of it, I was genuinely touched, I felt dismissive... I could list a lot more. Two daysI can't say I enjoyed every minute of this game, but I did want to play every minute of it. I have never played a game that led me through so many contrasting emotions. There were moments I really loved and moments I truly hated. I was uncomfortable, I cried, I hated Naughty dog, I laughed, I was tired of it, I was genuinely touched, I felt dismissive... I could list a lot more. Two days after finishing it and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. The only thing I am sure of is that I've never thought about a game as much as I have thought about this one.

    Game play wise, it is solid. I played on moderate and felt it was a little more forgiving than the first game when it came to resources, but the areas are larger and there is a lot more to discover and explore. I had some truly wild surviving 'by the seat of your pants' spells in the game, expending my resources and going hail Mary to survive which was incredibly satisfying and adrenaline filled.

    The game is a lot more open that TLOU, there are some large expansive areas which can be explored or ignored, which in my eyes is something of a double edged sword. There is so much to be discovered in the optional areas, sweet, funny, touching, bleak and harrowing world building moments that really add to the game, but could be easily missed. If you’re playing just for the main narrative, and head for that next 'checkpoint' at every opportunity, there is a huge amount to be missed.

    There is no other game like this. You are forced into situations that you do not want to be in, you are forced to do things that you do on want to do. You do not get a choice how these characters behave, you are pulled through a story against your will and forced to contemplate who these characters really are. It's not a game to make you happy, but it is an experience like no other game will give you.    … Expand

    I at first thought their take on violence was very intuitive and new,but after completing the game I have to say that in theory it is great but poor in execution.

    Because of their grueling take on violence the entire game is just grey and dark and frankly not fun to play.

    The first game was the same but what drove you and gave you hope was the father daughter relationship of Joel and Ellie.

    That very relationship that drove and was the silver lining midst the horrible world of The Last of Us,was stripped away from us in the first two hours of the game.

    The real problem was the way they did it.

    Spitting on Joel´s corpse just seemed like Naughty dog were angry at the character and just wanted him gone.

    Then even worse you NEED to spend at least 10 hours playing as Abby,Joel`s murderer.

    You are supposed to understand and sympathize with her because Joel was the "real" monster.

    She killed him after he saved her.

    Not to mention how stupid they made Joel and Tommy,in the first game they were both super cautious and could spot an ambush from a mile away,and now when they are older and wiser they just gave out their real names to complete strangers.

    Throughout the game Ellie kills every person that was in the room when Joel was killed EXCEPT THE ACTUAL PERSON THAT DID THE KILLING.

    The writing is sloppy at best,character motives are non existent and it is JUST A BAD STORY.

    Now the game play is great,the music,the level building the graphics all beautiful.

    Most journalists are trying to pin the hate of this game to gamers being ant-trans or anti-LGBTQ when that could not be further from the truth.

    Look at The Last Of Us:Left behind DLC or at Life is Strange.

    Fans simply feel betrayed, the thing that made the first game so good, destroyed in the first two hours of the game.

    Every bullet fired or received has weight and oomph to it, making battles more intense and much more on the edge.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be clear for an overall experience I don't think this game is the worst of the worst, I think its an OK game. Without including the drama around the game, the thing that turned me off was the story, and no I don't just mean a specific event that happens 2 hours into the game. The story as a whole for me was just not nearly as good as its predecessor The Last Of Us. For starters, the game felt forced. What I mean by this is it did not have an organic feeling that any good story would have. In many instances it felt as if things happened because they needed to happen rather than naturally occuring and this is where The Last Of Us and The Last Of Us Two really differentiate themselves. The controversial scene around the 2 hour mark did feel as if it was one of the many instances of the game needing a certain trigger to start. The event was in no way shape or form clever and unique which really did spoil the moment all together. I would even argue it was out of character and did not bring justice to a certain character in The Last Of Us. Another instance of an out of place event would be at the end of the game. The ending truly left me puzzled as to what it wanted to accomplish. You look at games like the God Of War trilogy which bases its entire story around revenge and is loved by many fans.
    Why did The Last Of Us Two fail? It's because it is not true to its main capturing theme of revenge. Ellie goes through the entire story wanting to avenge a certain character just to not get her revenge at the very end. This left me baffled especially since the writers did such a poor job on winning my sympathy over the person who killed a certain character. People were left unsatisfied with this ending because nobody cared for the murderer. This underwhelming and unsatisfying story left many unhappy because many love The Last Of Us for its story. That's usually what I value the most when buying single-player games, especially ones made by naughty dog. We were all expecting an engaging story filled with character development and mixed emotions on other characters. All we got was a black and white narrative that failed at changing our views on who was good and who was bad. On the contrary, The Last of Us Two did have stellar graphics which I can proudly say they’re some of the best graphics I have ever seen. The environment you play in is so diverse and beautiful I found myself occasionally just stopping and gazing off to the background. The gameplay was much smoother and more polished than its predecessor The Last Of Us Two. With regards to the gameplay aspect, I did enjoy every moment of combat that this game had to offer and enjoyed exploring the The Last Of Us Two environment. It may seem as my review is one-sided, but I just had a lot to say about the story. Other than that I can confidently say The Last Of Us Two did have beautiful graphics and immersive gameplay that people will enjoy.    … Expand

    Stupid things that made me mad at this game:
    - Joel deserved better but they made him so stupid to trust random strangers and give them his
    name
    - Golf club ? Really ? I wouldn't be mad if Joel would die at the end as a hero
    - Ellie killing everyone in her path but at the end she has a **** vision that makes her let Abby go,
    really ? Everything we've done goes to nothing, then she comes back and finds out she's all alone
    now and she can't even play the guitar cause Abby bites off her fingers, so **** stupid
    - ND false advertising, everyone knows what I'm talking about.

I understand that it has a pretty dark story but thats what makes the game so different, the fact that you dont even have the option to change it and in order to finish it you have to play it in their own terms. Thats why so many people rated it like the worst game ever, because it didnt fit so well with their point of view and they wanted to get a happy ending. What they didnt understand is that not all stories have a good ending.     It's a sombre harrowing experience. The story is an uncomfortable experience and should be commended for that. Where the game truly shines is in its horror element. Though it's no Part 1 it's a decent game and worth a play-through.

Honestly, I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign, I enjoyed the gameplay and the detail that was put into the game, but unfortunately I don't know how to feel about the end of the story as it left me with a lot of conflicted emotions that I can't seem to understand. I do believe it is a good game, but many things hold it back at times, Abby is not a character anyone wants to see in a game as she serves no purpose other than for story, it is very difficult to relate to her becuase the way she went about things didn't seem to be fair. The game had a lot of potential, but unfortunately it didn't reach the same level of greatness as the first game.… Expand

    So many user reviews i've read seem to misunderstand the central themes of this game. On the surface it's a simple revenge story, much in the same way that the first game was a simple get from point A to point B story, but like the first game it is elevated by the engrossing character development. Perspective is a central theme here.

    The game is boring. The writing is terrible and lazy. This is the videogame equivalent of a shart. I don't mind all the LGBT themes. The first game had a DLC which included those themes but was not terrible like this sequel.

    As far as I'm concerned Part II is not canon.

    Atmosphere is gorgeous, gameplay is well improved, the sound design is incredible and all the accessibility options are amazing. The only downside, and it's a huge one, is the story. Too little of one beloved character and way too much of a new character with a bulked out presence, slapped hard with a far too ambiguous ending!

    One of the most emotionally impactful pieces of media I’ve ever consumed. I beat it a week ago, and still cannot stop thinking about it. Must play if you consider video games as a artistic medium. Avoid if you like generic fan service, or are too dumb to understand how empathy works.

    A solid 8/10 from me. Although I like part 1 more, I still had a lot of fun playing part two. My only point of complaint is that I wish we could play as Ellie a bit more. That and the story pacing felt a bit off. I dont like when the story jumps left and right in forms of flashbacks. I am not a fun of it. But other then that, a very solid game.

Don't get me wrong, the game has its great moments, tension, suspense, horror and lost if action. The decision to get rid of one of the main characters so early in the game I believe is wrong. Anyway is enjoyable and a little bit too long but is still solid game, graphics are amazing. Playing as Abbie had some of the best gameplay in an game that I have played. The part at the hospital and also when you are travelling between buildings with the spores was terrifying and exciting. The game play is the same as last time and primarily is a standard stealth combat mechanic geared towards pushing the story forward. since the game play is still enjoyable like the last game I wont rate this zero.

    The story however is a 0/10, the narrative is disjointed and full of flashbacks. the characters are unlikable. making the main character the killer of the previous games beloved characters is a horrible decision. finally the finale of the game ends up like a soggy noodle. How can ones narrative have you kill hundreds of people and then wuss out at the end and let your target go. El juego está bastante bien y es uno de los juegos que no te podrías perder de ps4, tiene espacios muy grandes muy buenos gráficos, muy buena inteligencia artificial etc... aunque la gente lo que lo ha valorado tan bajo yo creo que ha sido por los retrasos, por los spoilers que se filtraron, por la muerte de joel tan temprana y aunque hubiera muerto al final la gente lo criticaría, también por querer empatizar con abby, habiendo matado a joel y ellie que recorra todo Seattle y que se olvide de abby por un tiempo y que luego le vengan flashbacks de joel muerto y decida ir a matarla y que luego se arrepienta y la deje vivir por eso es por lo que la gente se ha quejado, yo le hubiera dado a joel una muerte honorífica salvando a ellie y que se llevara un tiro o algo y que abby se hubiera dado cuenta que era joel despues de haber estado más tiempo con el y fueran a vengar la muerte de dina y que Ellie corra porque vienen muchos lobos y lo vea morir y le pegara un tiro eso antes y que antes hubiera matado a Dina antes habiendo empatizado mucho más con ella y secuestrado a Tommy y que Ellie inicie su venganza y que Ellie se vea loca y más cabreada por sus muertes y por el secuestro de Tommy y que termine matando a Abby con el revolver de joel y le diera comida a Lev si estubiera herido y lo dejara ahí y salvara a Tommy ese final hubiera estado bastante bien aunque este final también me ha gustado bastante aunque me hubiera gustado más el que he escrito pero bueno han dejado un final abierto para Abby y las luciérnagas todavía tiene tiempo para matarla si se la encuentra y lo que no cuadra tampoco que Joel era muy desconfiado y confio en ella y Tommy les contó sus nombres y donde vivian.

    A game that is definitely not for all audiences, its philosophical and psychological problems make it very deep and difficult to assimilate if you are not willing to open up to the video game as requested, it is definitely a MASTERPIECE, its narrative and character and story development that make it unique, a risky move by Neil Druckman which only shows his genius. It is a story that youA game that is definitely not for all audiences, its philosophical and psychological problems make it very deep and difficult to assimilate if you are not willing to open up to the video game as requested, it is definitely a MASTERPIECE, its narrative and character and story development that make it unique, a risky move by Neil Druckman which only shows his genius. It is a story that you definitely can not criticize without having seen or played it completely (both its first part and the second), this gem puts you in such complicated positions that you go from love to hate in a brutal way, and not only love and hate, but also the whole strip between these two feelings, grief and pain are just a few of the feelings that this game exploits in us. If you are not willing to immerse yourself in this great adventure completely, and you have not developed every feeling from the first part, and you are a conservative person with fear of new feelings and emotions, and you fear accepting the cruelty and reality of a world devastated by the brutality of the human being and the nature, this game is not for you, on the other hand if you are the opposite ... Do not let yourself be influenced by criticism that is mostly here because of the boom and fashion that the last of us has generated, it is definitely a MASTERPIECE.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
