At first I was really enjoying the game(even after Joel's death), but the fact that the game forced me to play the most hated character in the game for as long as I played Ellie pissed me of. And when I finally got to the end I was rewarded with the most lackluster ending leaving me sad and disappointed.. Gameplay is adequate and graphics are good. Story is disappointing. Expand

Their were 1,000+ different ways this game could have gone and they chose the most garbage, scrambled up story they could think of and shoved it down our throats making it seem like Joel was still alive. People want to make this excuse that “Joel was selfish he stopped them from creating a vaccine” it’s 2020 and the corona virus is alive and well and we don’t even have a vaccine in real life with everyone working on it how in the world were they going to make a vaccine and give it to the whole world and make everyone immune. This is just a trash excuse to butcher the whole game into pieces and spit in the consumers face. Naughty dog should never hear the end of this all gamers and streamers should unite and give them bad reviews on this horrible sequel so they can lay in their own misery they created. Expand

    2. Unlikeable new characters
    3. Seems to pander to specific groups, but not their core fan base
    4. (Not necessarily from the game) False advertising in ND’s part showing a beloved character being a big part of this game. Which they aren’t

The gameplay and graphics update does not qualify a good game. Critics have either never played the first game, or are choosing to ignore the obvious faults in the story. This is a STORY DRIVEN game. If the story is not good, why would you play it let alone like the game? Save your money.

If you believe games aren't art like movies or books and just play games for pretty colors then this game will be fine for you.

I believe they are art and the story can and should be a measure of their worth. The first Last of us was played because the story was about finding purpose after the end of the world, after you have lost everything to live for. To keep going and finding new purpose to live and survive, an old man losing his daughter to find another. About a girl with survivors guilt learning to live with it and find purpose in her life, a reason why she survived. It was a masterpiece that sadly will not be followed up, that story is over.

What this game tries to do is say **** you, all that character building, means nothing, we got new **** Joel is now a moron that isn't cautious with new people at all, when that is the entire first game's premise, he doesn't trust anyone, but not now. Ellie is now a murder hobo, except at the last second she has mercy for the only purpose because Druckman wants to use Abby as the main character for the third installment of the series, which at this point I hope doesn't happen.

Abby's character development completely revolves around being another murder hobo, she has no arch. She begins as a murder hobo, and ends as a murder hobo that magically got lucky that Ellie doesn't kill her. There will never be a connection to this character and if the third part is actually made, they will have to lie to the audience that it isn't about her in order to sell it.

What will drive you more crazy is that they tease you the game you actually wanted to play with 30 min long flash backs a few times, but 90% of the game isn't what you wanted.

There's nowhere to hide. The graphics and physics are off the charts. There is so much attention to detail within the world that it is at times mesmerizing. Best graphics of this generation I'd say. Simply stated, the game is worthy of the 10s that its received across the board.

Don't listen to the people trying to hide their political and intolerant views by trying to disguise it with fake takes and opinions on how the game is.

It's clearly obvious that there is an effort to tank the game by a certain group of people. A game with this much production value, careful detail and effort couldn't be further from the zeroes and ones that it is receiving. They most likely read the story and inferred from credible reviews to appear as if they know what the game is about.

Don't be mislead and skip the game because of the fake reviews. You'll be missing out on a once in a generation game if you do.

I personally liked the last of us 2 it shows us a way ellie copes with Joel’s death and how she begins as a cute innocent girl to a toughened rough fighter because of what she’s seen and experienced and it shows us a lot of how Joel impacted her and how she will avenge him, certain parts could’ve been done better and could’ve showed more of Joel and made it more emotional but in short, I liked it a lot

I liked a specific scene where Joel sings to Ellie, because the last words Joel heard from ellie was ‘I’ll try to forgive you’ and then you see him smile with happiness and it makes u feel that even tho he died he died knowing that he was forgiven by Ellie and that’s all he wanted, he was scared to share his emotions to people since his daughter died but with Ellie how could he not since he saw so much of his daughter in her. The last of us 2 isn’t a bad game it just could’ve been better, they tried something new and in some areas it succeeded but it others it failed but what u need to see is this is possibly the best scene in the entire game as you see the same bond they shared in the first game take place here and it just puts a smile on your face how much he cared for her, overall a 9/10 game but their relationship puts a smile on everyone’s face. :’)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It pains my heart to feel obliged to write this, but it's necessary.

Please note these thoughts are all my own, and if you enjoyed the game I am happy for you - I honestly wish I had.

I've been an avid fan of naughty dog since their crash bandicoot days, and I've put some serious time into all of their games. So you can imagine my excitement leading up to this game. Following TLOU is quite a tough act, but I was convinced the challenge was in capable hands.

    I was wrong.

Before I start bashing things, I should not that the world and graphics are fantastic. I have not seen a game as good looking since God of War, and the development team should be commended for their hard work to build it. Gameplay is a little outdated, but fun enough to not get too boring. Crafting additions are cool (although the animations take an age), and aside from the fact you work out very quickly that most issues are solved by smashing a window or throwing a rope somewhere (or both!), it was an enjoyable experience to play within the world.

Now we get onto the meaty stuff. TLOU had good gameplay, but it was nothing to be marvelled at. What made the game one of the best, was the story that was told during your journey with Joel and Ellie. TLOU2 spits all over this, sh**s on it and smears it into the ground.

The pacing of the story was horrible, character development was non existent, characters whom I was meant to believe had relationships with each other was not believe-able. Their choices for the actual narrative were bold, yet foolish. Killing off Joel so early was obviously going to cause backlash, especially considering the inclusion of him in trailers (not to mention one cutscene which he appeared in within the trailers, but it was actually Jesse in the game). His relationship with Ellie is what so many people loved from the final game, and the flashback sequences were the best parts of the game in my opinion. But with Joel dead I decided to be open minded - they must have something spectacular set up?

    They did not.

What followed was 20 hours of badly paced, poorly written story, where I genuinely had to convince myself to see the game through. Abbies flashback section did its best to try and get me to care about her, but I spent the whole time finding wonderful ways for her to die. For as long as I was playing the game, I didn't care about her as she killed Joel. Seeing her perspective didn't change much, as if you want to go down that channel you'd have to analyse every npc Joel, Ellie and Abbie killed in the games - which should mean we have about 6000 spin offs in the works.

The one character whom started to grow on me was quickly killed before the Abbie switch, and I wish they spent more time working on developing a relationship between Dina and Ellie, so I actually gave a damn about Dina. Its' hard to take her seriously when one weeks she's dating Jesse and the next she's willing to do anything for Ellie.

Plot points in the story were very convenient, to a noticeable extent (you obviously give some convenience leeway in movies and games for the sake of the plot).

And the ending left me feeling unsatisfied and was just a kick in the teeth to what Ellies journey had been all about. The one thing she was afraid of was being alone, and hey ho - look where she ended up.

It was all in fact for nothing.

Misleading advertising and questionable creative choices lead to what will be a disappointing, unsatisfactory, and anti-climatic tale that leaves a beloved franchise in very uncertain waters.

The shifting of blame to fans for not swallowing unlikable new characters or hard to understand plot points ignores the fact that the developer took far too many bizarre gambles with a property of this caliber to deflect blame.

The gameplay, environments, and music recover the value of this experience to a degree. However, a grueling and essentially nihilistic story will leave most normal gamers asking "what was the point?".

Incredible. A beautifully detailed story of how hate and the need for revenge can destroy your life and those around you. Bleak and terrifying, with glimpses of hope throughout.

A stunning piece of art that doesn't shy away from controversy.

Treats known and established characters like nobody's and tries to justify the actions of the characters who kill them AFTER they do so??? In what world did they think that would work out? Ending is also extremely undeserved, with after establishing ellie as blindly seeking revenge just having her go ooo killing is bad at the last possible second when she already has nothing left to lose. Story wouldn't be a big issue if this was a gameplay focused game, but as it stands, like the first one, the gameplay is just a slow, gritty, boring uncharted with no puzzles. Expand

Como fã da franquia indico a compra e principalmente re-jogar o primeiro, e sua DLC, antes de iniciar a parte 2. Dessa forma além de perceber melhor os detalhes no cenário, também entenderão melhor as decisões de roteiro.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are amazing and the updates to the combat system made the game far more enjoyable. An update to the crafting system would have been nice, I did like that they gave Ellie a pocket knife instead of a shiv like Abby had. The story is messy. I actually didn’t mind playing as Abby, I thought that arc was fairly well done and enjoyed how it mirrored (slightly) Joel’s experience with Ellie in the first game. I was fairly irritated when I started Abby’s story and realized I had to upgrade all of her weapons and skills, felt like I was starting over. After playing Ellie’s story for like 10 hours I was frustrated to feel like I was starting at zero again. I thought the AI was terrible, I played in moderate, then switched to hard when I found moderate was too easy. Only game that I thought had worse AI in the last year was Days Gone (seriously that AI is trash) and I still loved it so AI isn’t a huge contributing factor for me. I was genuinely nervous when I first encountered the Scars, but after playing against them for awhile I grew bored with them since it was almost identical to the Wolves. I get they were there for the story, but why introduce a second group if they were just going to be as easy to overcome as the one we are already fighting? Should have made them a little less predictable and more aware of their surroundings so sneaking up on them was more difficult. Also, I expected a little more out of their story, they were alluding to the leader who died and really did nothing with her except say that this isn’t what she wanted, people took her teachings and twisted them to fit their agenda. Yeah it’s a play on Christianity and religion, we get it humans make everything bad and twist things to make them fit our ideals, but this is a video game I don’t want to be lectured to about how much humans suck. (I’m not a religious person by the way, just in case anyone thinks I’m mad they seemed to be casting judgement on Christians.)

Im in the boat of I hated the ending, I saw it coming from a mile away though. There was no way they would kill Ellie in the same game they killed Joel, that would literally destroy any chance of a 3rd game selling well. I also couldn’t see Abby dying as they seemingly set her up to be a part of a 3rd installment with the fireflies and based on her “character development” that they had her go through they had a lot more planned for her. Overall I didn’t hate the game, but I didn’t like it nearly as much as I liked the first one. Had they not taken the “moral of the story” route instead of the realistic route for the ending I probably would have given it a 5 instead. If a 3rd installment is made I probably won’t be preordering it, I’ll wait for the user reviews to come out a few days after release.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. STORYLINE:
From my point of view - the Last of Us part 2 was a phenomenal game for 2020. Aside from some little bugs in the controls - the way in which ND went with the story was done well. Both characters for me were very enjoyable.

    THAT SCENE:
The game's morals are all in the grey after Joel's death happens - understandable. You have to think with an open mind, how would revenge affect the characters? In Ellie's case, revenge is the driving force for her side of the story. You want to chase down Abby and find out as to what the actual hell was going through her head.
Early in the game, we've got no idea as to what he actually did to warrant Abby's team to track them down - we can guess, sure - but it's never said out loud until you play Abby's section. Look at this section from both sides and see what revenge is doing; for Abby, it's getting revenge for the death of her father and the lack of cure. Abby walks in to see her father shot in the head, she's rightfully angry for her loss. Ellie wants revenge for the death of a father figure. Also angry. If I were to put myself in either character's shoes - I would feel exactly the same if I were in that position.
Revenge is one hell of a motivator. Who's the real enemy? Is it Ellie - for chasing down the WLF team on a manhunt? Is it Abby? Is it Joel? There's no clear cut line of right and wrong anymore, only shades of grey.

I personally don't feel like it was rushed - I felt like Joel's death was at the right spot. Don't get me wrong - I screamed through it and then promptly paused for a cry. It gave the game enough of a push to go 'Oh, this is a thing we need to deal with right now let's go!' as the most 'excitement' that the characters had to deal with at that time is patrols and the clicker/runner groups. The Jackson crew had 4 years of idling. They were living at that point (they had winter dances!), not fighting to survive and without that death - I am unsure as to where the game would have gone. It gave the game enough of a push for the narrative to keep going.
TLOU isn't farming sim and rainbows - we knew it was a gritty game from the first one.

    ENDING:
So the ending has brought around a mixture of views; I thought it was OK. It ended a cycle of revenge. What would have Ellie gained if she killed Abby? Potentially Lev chasing her to enact his revenge for his newfound sister, starting the cycle again? It wouldn't have brought Joel back, nor would it help the PTSD/Panic attacks, or the terms in which her relationship with Dina was left. It would have left Ellie in a more broken state than what we saw at the end of the game.

    CHARACTERS AND COMPANIONS:
There were genuine conversations that didn't feel forced out for the sake of the player. Dina and Ellie's discussion of Judaism in the synagogue and was one of the most organic conversations I've seen from video game characters in ages. The relationships shown between the characters made it realistic; Jesse's teasing at the start of the game, Ellie and Dina with the snowball fight - realistic! (and wholesome)

The build of Abby in the game was also real - regardless of the 'female head on male body' comments. Look at women who do deadlift, or do MMA/UFC - they are built with muscle galore. Look at Jessie Graff, Weili Zhang, Ronda Rousey, Jessica Buettner, Rebecca Rowley as examples. Broad shoulders doesn't diminish femininity. Actual, real-life body types shown in a AAA game that wasn't hypersexualised was a nice take.

    GRAPHICS:
The fact that the ND team had functioning rope physics was amazing, in my opinion. The introduction of being able to gather and throw a rope - and have it looking realistic was incredible.
The snow generation on trees in the early Jackson/outskirts of Jackson was incredibly realistic. Sometimes it glitched out and was bright - there were some texture issues, yes, but aside from that, you could see the spray of snow after you landed in it. You could see blood from the enemies progressively soak into the snow (and the sole of Ellie's converse) and it track through the snow as a footprint and not just look like a red smudge on the screen.

The attention to detail is wild in TLOU. Look at Ellie when she puts a bandage on - the blood soaks through over time. It's always annoyed me for the longest time when characters flail at their backpack (fully closed) and magic something into their hand - Ellie grabs things out of the side of her bag if they're small (i.e Brick/Molotov) because it's not actually closed. If you spent time thinking 'why's her bag not closed, that's going to annoy me' - that's why.

    SOUND:
The sound in ND games have always been good. I got emotional during the first Joel song. Guitar moments in TLOU are nice, as you can either play what the game wants you to - or crack out Seven Nation army without the game throwing a fit. You get ringing in your ears if someone fires directly above you (attention to detail is wild!)

    GG Naughty Dog.

I’ve read a lot of bad reviews about this game but after playing it seems that most reviewers either haven’t played the game, have based their review on the pre-release leaks or do not understand the art of telling a great story. That being said, the story will split peoples opinions based on what they are expecting from this game. I avoided as much of the pre-release gameplay as possibleI’ve read a lot of bad reviews about this game but after playing it seems that most reviewers either haven’t played the game, have based their review on the pre-release leaks or do not understand the art of telling a great story. That being said, the story will split peoples opinions based on what they are expecting from this game. I avoided as much of the pre-release gameplay as possible and didn’t read any of the leaks as I wanted to experience the story by playing it. If you are expecting an adventure story about Noel and Ellie then you will not be satisfied. Although there are elements of adventure between the two, the story mainly focuses on revenge.

One element that makes this story great is by not sticking to the storytelling traditions that have become predictable over time, particularly in most games or Hollywood movies. This story is far from predictable and ND have not been afraid to make bold decisions which in my opinion pays off, however, I think this is why peoples opinions are so split on the events that take place. Without trying to reveal too much about the game, the sequel, like the original, does not directly have a happy ending. The ending of the original is not as such a ‘happy ending’ but a sigh of relief that Joel saves Ellie from a death which would have been justified for the greater good. If the player had been given a choice to save Ellie or let her die to save humanity, most players would have chosen to save Ellie as ND brilliantly made you feel a connection to the characters. The difference with the sequel is that connection is still there but the story is linear so the decisions are probably not what the player wanted to happen. In my opinion the story gets a 10/10 but I can understand why people are not satisfied. Also people need to bear in mind that this is a game set in a post apocalyptic world, and roughly 25 years into it. It has become a world where groups have formed over time but it is still every man for himself when around strangers. Also all of the characters have been accustomed to death so some decisions that may be perceived as extreme to us are perhaps not so much for the characters.

TLOU 1&2 is all about ones perspective of what is right and wrong. ND have been so clever in writing this story arc that the decisions that the characters make are all based on the perspective of what Ellie and Joel believe is right. That’s until a mid-game plot twist where you start to question whether your actions (in both games) can be morally justified and you have to detach yourself from the characters to truly get an answer. Some horrific events at the start of the game seem extreme but in reality, if the shoe was on the other foot, they can be seen as justifiable in the oppositions eyes, despite the player not wanting to see this.

That is why I believe this story is great. ND isn’t just telling a revenge story, it’s telling a story where if you can look at actions from both sides, the justification for revenge is just a matter of opinion. That opinion is dependent on your own perspective of what you believe is right, but in the overall scheme of things, what you believe is right might not necessarily be what is morally right. It also shows that revenge can be a constant chain of events. You commit an action and someone takes revenge, you then take revenge on their revenge and it can continue back and forth until one wins or both lose. Ultimately, all actions have consequences and this story needs ‘revenge’ to happen for it to exist, but the developers ask the question can any good come out of revenge and is revenge always warranted? You can clearly see that this has been successfully portrayed by the mix of reviews and divide of opinion the game has had.

As for the acting, the acting in this game is the best I have ever seen. Not only the way that the actors perform their lines but the movement actions and facial expressions are superb and the closest I have seen in a game to being real. The emotions of each character makes the story even more realistic and as always, ND’s attention to detail is incredible. Normally in games there is a small detail that stands out above others and for me this was the look in the eyes of a NPC when you sneak up on them and kill them from behind. The NPC's have a last look of struggle and lifelessness in their eyes that is incredibly realistic. The graphics and sound are also amazing and it feels like everything has been thought of. If you knock over a bucket that would normally be fixed to the ground as a back drop prop, the echos of the metal sound as if it was spontaneous rather that something that has been recorded.

ND have polished this game to an incredibly high standard but in the end your are best playing it for yourself as the story is so opinionated that only you will be able to tell if you like it or not.

They managed to make one of the best games of all time when the original debuted in 2013 by crafting a unique world, stunning storytelling and fun gameplay. This game takes everything great about it’s predecessor and spits in it’s face. I can’t believe I’m writing this about the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time.

About 75% of the time playing this game I felt disgusted, hollow and remorseful. There is one section of this game that will make you smile and realize what made the original so great. Don’t hold your breath, it fizzles out quickly.

Every progressive attempt at diversity and inclusion comes off as pandering and insincere. It’s the run of the mill propaganda that has been being shoved down our throats for the past 2 decades. If I could, I would’ve skipped this entirely and kept intact the perfect story that was the original. The graphics are stellar, as well as the music. The gameplay remains fun but a bit repetitive and clunky. All of this is drowned out by the atrocity of a story and a meaningless ending.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved this game. It may be unrelentingly brutal but I was hooked. While I think the story in the original was a bit better, I like how Naughty Dog took a few risks with this game. Splitting it in half and experiencing the game from Abby's perspective made me question everything I did as Ellie in the first half. It made an otherwise by the numbers revenge story more profound and really made you think about the repercussions of your actions. The events of this game are a direct response to Joel's actions at the end of part 1, and while I'm said he had to die it did make sense.

The gameplay itself is a step up from its predecessor, even if it can be a bit janky at times. Otherwise a phenomenal game.

Don't listen to the people trashing this game. The overwhelming majority of them are either angry that Joel died and didn't bother to keep playing long enough for the explanation, or pathetic little keyboard warriors who aren't happy that Ellie is gay. It makes no difference to me or the outcome of the story. If you don't like the game its fine, just have a good reason rather than spouting some triggered bull.

I find it ironic that a game about hate and what it does to you ends up getting so much hate from the gaming community. I love the story for not just being “more of the same”. This approach worked well for the light and fun Uncharted series, but would have been disrespectful towards TLOU. Don’t confuse the feeling of anger and sadness with bad storytelling. If you’re not prepared to experience a sad story, this game is not for you. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazingly structured story, incredible details, super reality. Player-character bounding developed perfectly. You cannot avoid asking yourself “what would i do” as said in the final scripts of the game. Most of us respond it like Joel I think. However morality of Joels actions in first part is bad for all human kind. But that didn’t stop us to love Joel and Ellie. This game tells something about human nature darkest sides. This adventure asks you are there actually a perfect right choice? For all of us? This adventure could make you thinking for days about intereting pshycological dilemmas. You can add thing up in your mind. The fact is this is for sure more than a **** game. Expand

I am not sure why people are giving this a 10 when this is about a 7 at best. While the graphics and audio are very good (I played mine on a PS4 Pro with headphones) the story I feel is not as good as the first with even parts that just don;t flat out make sense at all. While the graphics and audio are very good (I played mine on a PS4 Pro with headphones) the story I feel is not as good as the first with even parts that just don;t flat out make sense at all. There were actually times when I was literally laughing out loud at how absurd the game was getting and my wife was laughing too. In addition, the number of glitches and bugs I found on the sad side. I found one bug that had me actually stuck in a prone position in a truck and I couldn't get out without restarting the game. I found other bugs like infected stuck in the environment and not reacting to sound at all. There was one where i was told to lure the infected out with noise, nothing worked so i had to navigate while looking through a scope to find the infected i was missing. Real fun "rolls eyes". I really find it hard to believe that anyone who is giving this a 10 has played through the 2nd half of the game never mind the whole thing. Here is an example of a non spoiler issue LOL. There is a fence. Character says I need to find my way around. In front of the fence is a garbage can that if the game allowed you to, you could just climb on the garbage can and hop over the fence. There are quite a few of these moments in the game when you are scratching your head saying, "Why would they have me do this when i can just go right there?" I understand the whole suspend belief thing, but when my wife and I are actually laughing...

is the game worth playing? Yes. I think they put a lot of time and effort into the game. As I am familiar with the area in the first part of the game, they did take some liberties ;) If you can overlook a lot of the silliness in the game (I think the general premise of this game was built around a silly idea) it is a pretty interesting game. I am playing it on hard and while the game mentions there are a lot less supplies, I never found myself running out of ammo or resources.

!!! Firstly the first game is probably the best game I ever played at the time of its PS4 remaster. Naughty dog has taken everything from the first game and improved it.

Visuals have drastically improved with the times, characters are more facially expressive, environments more fleshed out and lived in. They have added exploration so all those buildings your going past in the original, well in this one you can go into most of them.

You can now dodge, jump, and move lying on the floor. All three add extra elements to both stealth and combat. Lying in tall grass, crawling under obstacles make great stealth options. Every area is more complicated giving you more options as well as dangers.

I have jumped, yelled nooo as characters die and your mind is messed with. Some characters journey changes them for the better and others for the worse.

Uncharted 4 meets last of us part one and has a baby. God of war meets evil within and has a baby. Both those babies meet and this game is its offspring.

To sum up they have improved every aspect of the game and the only thing anyone seems to criticise is what happens to certain characters. Well they are simply wrong, life is not a fairytale and good people can do bad things and bad people do good things. Sometimes life is blurred and you can't see what is right or wrong as the game has shown. Simply brilliant.

One of the best games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first last of us is my all time favourite game out of any video game, the characters in it, such as Joel and Ellie, they grew on me and seeing their relationship evolve to that of a father and daughter, I loved it, and it felt so natural. Then I saw the part 2 leaks and yeah like most people I wasnt happy, but i decided to go in with an open mind thinking maybe it will play out well. I was wrong. I definitely enjoyed the first couple of hours, getting to know some of the new characters as well as how Ellie has developed throughout the years, but then after only the first couple of hours out of a 30 hour or so game, they killed off Joel. This made me mad, not that Joel died, yes I was sad about that but about how quickly he died in the game, to me it felt rushed and killing off people's favourite character in only that short amount of time, which I was also mad about the fact that Joel just trusted the people in the resort so quickly, what happened to the Joel who was always on guard and didn't trust anyone?? Anyways that happened but I decided to stick through it and play on, because i did want to get revenge for Joel as Ellie. I loved playing as Ellie in the first part of the game, i had no problems with that, but then we get to the second part. Abby. Also known as Joels killer. I want to know what the hell was going through the writers heads when they decided we would want to play as our favourite characters murderer? But anyways I played as her, killed her a few times just to get my own revenge, and then we get to the Ellie part again. Now this was the part that just completely ruined the game for me, I stuck through it thinking with some hope it would get better, but nope. Ellie now has a family with Dina and JJ after getting beaten up by Abby and she decides to drop it all to go after Abby again, this didn't bother me, I was actually rooting for Ellie to go after her but then we do. And when Ellie was on the brink of getting her revenge she lets her go... This had me nearly throw my controller at the screen, i was fuming. The first part of the game was Ellie going and killing people that was in the same room as her when Joel died and finding out where Abby was, she even killed a pregnant lady, so for her to let her go at the last minute didn't make any sense. She left her family, she's killed a lot of people just to get to this one person, her friend has also died because of this person and she lets her go? It just didn't add up and if the writers were trying to send a message out they failed. They actually want firing. To me the game was trying to force upon political agendas, trying to get us to care about characters i would rather violently torture and it was just a big mess. Honestly it ruined me, the only joy I got out of playing this game was the actual gameplay, the graphics and the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie. Afterall that was the reason I wanted to play the game, to see there relationship as Father and daughter and get the old banter the two had from the first game, I hardly got any of that. Instead I was forced to play as a character i seriously wanted to kill and that I could care less about and I was forced to sit through a **** story. If anyone has gotten to the end of this long rant then i highly recommend not wasting your money on this game. After 7 years, they give us that, i think we deserve an apology as well as a rewrite of the story. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
