This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not bothered by the woke aspect of the game, i'm not bothered with the big event that happens in the beginning of the game. But I think the game is a failure. The game tries too hard to question the apology of violence and always punish the player to play the game as it is intended. "My dad has been murdered ? why not kill like 1000 persons to get my revenge ! And at the end let's spare the killer because i am not a monster !" Ridicule. The second playthrough with Abby is absolutely useless because She and Ellie are at the same state before and after that part of the game. No character development whatsoever. I didn't want Ellie to kill Abby, worse, I prefer Abby over Ellie because her life has been ruined by Ellie/Joel at so many levels. So no, Abby is not the problem for me. Joel had to pay in some way. Tommy and Ellie vengeance is uncalled for and the characters keep makind bad decisions over and over again. When Joel went berserk at the end of the first game it was understandable, relatable (although overkill) . Here ? not so much. The game punishes us for what it forces us to do. The game is wonderful though and polished to the extreme. The gunfights/stealth are also good. Expand

This game isn't fun, but that's not what it's meant to be. It is miserable, there are no happy endings but if you get over the fact the story doesn't go how you wanted it to go you will not regret playing it.

It really is a game changer when it comes to story and gameplay in games.
I’ve never felt so conflicted by characters decisions in a game before.
Like I said before this is a lonnnnnnnnnnnnngggg game and the pacing is a bit of a mess compared to the first game which was tight and to the point and in my opinion perfect. Overall I loved the last of us 2 despite its flaws. It’s not as perfect as the first game but it’s definitely a worthy sequel. The Last Of Us series proves that games are truly a beautiful art form. Expand

The Last of us 2 is story about hate, cruelty of people and cycle of revenge.

The last of us 2 has taken story in different way ,than predecessor.
In first game story is about "father" and "daughter",telling it in fine emotional way, where you feel sometimes hate. But in Part 2 hate, cruelty and revenge is always with us.
In story Ellie want to revenge death of someone really close to her,but in path of revenge there will happen good, but mainly bad things.Tlou 2 is telling story of 2 characters Ellie and unnamed character.
Second character will be main enemy in the eyes of the Ellie and in other characters, and you will play as her in more or less half of the game.Characters are really well done written, but sometimes when somebody dies you dont feel it so emotional (in 2 cases).Game will explain to you that nobody is white knight, and every body have a reason why they done some bad things.

Overall game is brutal and its trying to emotional break you.Sometimes game will order you to do some things which you really dont want to do (like killing someone),and sometimes characters will chose path you dont really want,BUT IT DOESNT MEAN THAT IS BAD WRITTEN .In the end you will find out that revenge cant be controlled, and it can destroy you.
This game is unique, and i respect every decision what Naughty Dog has made.

If you can handle emotional breaking story ,and play a game witch have better story than Holliwood films then i can for 100% recommend, this masterpiece.

    Shortly about different things:

    Graphics and design 10/10 :
Naughty Dog always made best looking games and its applied it on Tlou 2 too. This include face expression where is every detail there, and when it comes to some brutal things like in fighting but mainly on cutscenes, you will be shocked how detailed that is (for someone this might be too much).
Ambiance of the game is so stunning and sometimes you will stop and only look on incredible work.

    Soundtrack 10//10:
Soundtrack like in first one is indescribable.I must thank Gustavo Santaolalla for one of the best soundtracks ever (including in Part one).

    Sound design 10/10
There is not much to tell, its so much detailed and made well.

    AI: 9,5/10
Its scales in difficulty, but its stunning. You feel that every enemy have life and much less that he is some obstacle in game.Every enemy have name, and if they friends find him dead they, shout to him by his name, and act differently compered to different games. They will search for you every where and they will talk/helping to each other to find you. They are adding 2 group types of human enemies which one is stealthy and another is full of military arsenal including trained dogs. When it comes to mutated creatures (zombies),they are same ,only change is that they are adding some creatures including one which will be fight boss.

    Gameplay 9,5
Why to change something what is so good. Its same as first one ,but it have some changes like jump, crawl and dodge.Using guns and tools are great and every weapon or tool is unique and usable
    in some situations.

Graphics are excellent, the amount of details are really impressive and animations are at the next level.

That whole think with custom difficulty and controls is pretty nice. And if you have some kind of health issues like blindness or so, you can still play it and i think that is good step forward not only for Naughty Dog, but for whole game industry.

But at the other hand there is a story and story is a VERY big part of The last of us.
From the beginning i thought it's not that bad even though the "golf part" (even it came earlier then every fan expected). But later they just made you do something in the cutscene and wanted you to feel guilty for this and later it just seemed like they're incriminating Ellie for what she did and they where putting this new character in front of her.
We all know that Ellie isn't the only playable character (even though Neil said otherwise before the release), but the other character is completely new, and i think that we played as Abby (new character) for too long and that was unnecessary.

i didn't bought this game because I wanted story of new good-bad character and little bit of angry Ellie, i bought this game because i wanted to see how Ellies and Joels relationship went after the events of the first game and how they continued in they journey and maybe some new characters, but not in the way they would throw a shadow over the main protagonist from first The last of us.
I know that Neil wanted to do first game more like Joels story and the second game do more like Ellies story, but it come out as Ellies and Abbys story and as i said, it was unnecessary.

The way they putted the story really broke my heart and i know that Neil can do better...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game. I would say from ALL aspects including Abby's sequences; it proved to be a risk well worth taking for naughty dog in my eyes from the shift of antagonist to protagonist. HOWEVER the story seemed unpolished at points and lost the sense of story telling to just getting a message across. I feel that this is partially seen in the ending. This is where Ellie leaves her perfectly happy life only to return to the path of vengeance which ultimately leads her to losing everything along with her fingers, therefore her ability to play the guitar and her last emotional tether to Joel. Not a pretty ending and most certaintly what hardcore fans wanted in the end and the game as a whole.

    STORY
The story could have been told far better by perhaps staging sequences in a different order. So instead of playing as Ellie for 12 hours (Seattle day 1,2,3,e.c.t) then as Abby for 12 hours, they should have bounced between the two perspectives... Ellie day 1 to Abby day 1 and so on. This would give a deeper connection and more care for all Characters in the game especially Abby and others from her perspective. An example of this is Joels murder but before Abby finishes him you play the first abby flash back and then onto the Joel kills Jerry (Abby's dad) sequence. This would have given us the full scope of things rather than this built hatred toward Abby's character, which game later makes makes you play this 12 hour segment as this hated character with NO CONTEXT by which point I felt like putting the controller down and walking away. The only thing that kept me playing was the need to see what happened a the peak of the story which just lost its momentum switching to Abby at the beginning of the entire story; Its like watching a movie to just before the end and then have to go back to the start so your friend can be up to speed with what's happening. If they just played the sequences in order using both characters perspectives, the pacing of the game wouldn't of collapsed and players would have understood what was trying to be achieved rather than killing our beloved Joel unjustifiably.
The ending could have been satisfactory if it ended with the first appearance of the Farm with Ellies family along with tying up the lose ends. however kick starting the whole revenge thing wasn't for me which yet again was more about getting the message across rather than story telling. The way things ended up for Ellie was bleak and unnecessary for the story to extend its self to that extent.

    GAMEPLAY AND GRAPHICS
Gameplay overall was almost exactly the same as the first only with a few adjustments that I found more than substantial.to list a few
    -Dodge mechanic
    -freedom to explore
-Enemy dogs (morally they could have made it optional to take them out/kill them)
    -Ellies knife instead of shivs
    -New gadgets/weaponry
    -New infected
Graphically the game is astonishing and despite all the blow back this is the subject everyone can agree is one or the best on the market for this console generation partially on the PS4 pro accompanied with 4k HDR TV/Monitor. For me this already felt like a "next gen" game just because of the way this game looks.

To summarise this game is deffiently worth the cost, just be prepared for it to cover on some touchy subjects and can tax you as the player mentally. I for one found this game very dark and lingered with me for a couple of days after completing which just shows the effects of some what a good story... just poorly executed.

    thanks for reading

Graphically, the wait was worth it, but I would've preferred some advances to the gameplay OTHER than dogs (like better, more interactive puzzle elements). TLOU was one of my all-time favorites, and to watch Naughty Dog obliterate all that goodwill. Why they thought ANYONE would want to play as Joel's killer is so stunningly short-sighted that I am sickened by the sales figures for this game, because someone as the turd studio is going to see it as a positive and good thing they did. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was probably the biggest letdown in gaming for me other than Fallout. I won’t lie though the graphics and sound of this game were incredible. The gameplay was chill kinda like the first one but they’ve added stuff like a pointless jumping mechanic. But honestly I never cared about TLOU 1 for its gameplay because I was completely engrossed in the story. This one was not the sequel it deserved. Anyone saying if you don’t like the story you are homophobic or transphobic is using these marginalized communities to hide behind the horrible story telling and poor character development. This story is about revenge and anger and you’re telling me it took Naughty Dog 7 years to come up with the only way for Ellie to realize the devastation of revenge by killing a pregnant woman?!?! Mind you that same woman wanted to go fight while being how many months pregnant? Do better. You don’t even sympathize with Abby’s crew cause there no reasonable backstory for them and are not relatable. The game is not re-playable and there’s no multiplayer. Not worth $60 imo. A long time ago, when i watched Anita Sarkeesian break down certain tropes in games, i noticed that she complained at EVERYTHING male related, males where the protagonists, females were inept at escaping, females needed help and where there to give the male hero motivation, females were oversexualized, males lead,.....
Even if a game was made with genders in mind by using a coin toss, as soon a male was there, by using Anita logic, that role could be placed by a female to do that part.
For example, a stud main male hero would be replaced by a stunning female hero, that also creates problems so she must be boring and unapealing in looks aswell, nothing is ever perfect.
And that lead me to think of a perfect game for her, and that is a game with no relevant males anywhere, obviously this has a few problems, you aim at the wrong demographic, the market can't take it, your game has a very difficult time to sell.

When i saw Last of Us Part 2, i noticed an odd fixation with getting rid of the males in the game, as if they were in a rush to get the females doing their own thing, their dialogue, the romances, they didn't pay much respect to caracthers that were the core of the previous game.

Then, i noticed the removal of certain parts in the web, you can't comment on certain aspects of the game, reviews are limited in content, they tried and still try to hide what happens to certain caracthers, who you play with and why.

This was deliberate, they knew the game was aiming at a very niche group of ppl, instead of making a game from the ground up and anouncing the game's message, they tried to use the Last of us part 2 as a way to spread this message, you hide the content for as long as possible and you use previous iterations of the game to try and get as many sales as possible, just like mass effect andromeda uses the mass effect franchise to get a good initial start, or alien colonial marines using the alien franchise, we expect the same quality, it's only fair.

Then recently i realized that Anita was somehow involved in this, i honestly could not believe this because i assumed no one would be crazy enough to listen to her, i was wrong.
This game is the way it is because at every corner they had to get rid of males at any cost and then get the gears running with the female protagonists.

This means out of 4 general opinions, you can say the game is good or not, and that the message is good or not, however, Anita, reviewers and the developers will INTENTIONALLY dismiss 2 of these, if you dislike the game, you will be tagged as homophobe, hater or that you dislike the message, for example, if you do not like the death of joel, they will say that you dislike females taking the lead in a game, that's not what you're saying but that's whey will say about you, it's intentional because they can't take criticism, if you like the message, then they will say automatically that you like the game, whcih may not be true but that's what they want because they want to sell the game and everything positive is used to do that.
You can't win against these ppl because your opinion will go towards one of these 2 categories, the game requires an open mind but Anita and whoever followed her advices are also not open minded, criticism isn't allowed

It's fine to have female protagonists, the issue is that you had beloved caracthers from the previous game and in this game, you don't use them that much or you don't use them at all because they get killed, it was forced, they had to push the message and they used the subtlety of a raging bull, this ends up making certain scenes nonsensical, certain dialogue scenes are awkward or confusing, you have a word like "bigot" in the dialogues, that i had to google the meaning, i'm not sure how often it is used overseas, but to me it seems like they had a grudge and had to let it out and they just had to place it in the game somehow.

The game isn't bad, the visuals are great, so are the sounds and the atmosphere, the downsides are mainly the kinda boring gameplay because they had to pace the game combined with the fact that the game offers litle replayability, few improvements have been made to game mechanics, what worked in the past for the most part they kept and so what changed was mainly how they aproached the story and caracthers.

Review copies are fine and all, but consumers pay for the game in order to experience it and the entire mentality is, 1st you pay, then you can review the game, this is intentional because afterwards (and it will happen) they can say "we tried this aproach on an earlier game and it sold really well", this gives power to Anita to keep doing this, over and over.

The game is a 7/10, however, if it's a message you're trying to pass, then i'll pass my message aswell, 0/10 so that it hurts them in the right place, in the wallet, maybe this will cause the developers to atleast care to what they are doing next time.

This game has so much potential but falls on its face more than anything I have ever seen. I'd like to list some pros for this game before I explain. The level design from a graphical standpoint and flow standpoint is incredible. The character models are amazing. Sound design is amazing, and finally, the controls and mechanics really do feel flawless. However, in a story-based game, all of those things don't matter if your story is a complete dumpster fire which this story is. Characters lack any sort of development. I literally don't care when anything happens to anyone, but Ellie. Every single one of them could die and it would not change how I felt about the game or them at all. The only time I feel any sort of emotion is in flashbacks because that's the only time I see any sort of character development at all. Otherwise, this game left me bored out of my mind. I found myself working through areas faster and faster just to get to the next cutscene in the hopes it would get somewhat better spoiler alert it does not. Most of the character development and good thought out story bits you're going to see are within the trading cards you can find throughout the map as collectibles and honestly, I'd rather read and collect all those than ever play this story again. The second issue I have with the game is with the ending I won't spoil it for anyone, but those of us that played the game understand how bad it truly is and I don't think that we would be having this discussion if it was at least a choice. However, it is not you are forced into the decision it makes, which I can guarantee is not the decision 95% of the player base would have made. The ending straight up feels like a slap in the face as you have worked the entire game for one goal and it makes all that work and effort useless. That's why I gave this game a 4/10, everything about the game is great except for the story which is a major issue in a story-based single player experience. To the team at Naughty Dog who worked on this game brushing up the mechanics, creating the environments, and working on the sound design you did an amazing job. To the team at Naughty Dog who wrote the story, I hope you never touch another project in your life. Just to reiterate this story is so poorly written that imagine if in Uncharted 4 instead of its ending Nathan gives up on his quest halfway through and goes home. That is basically how I felt after this story, honestly, I'd ask for a refund but at this point, I don't even care. I don't want to spend any more time thinking about this game, playing it, or writing about it; this is it. Finally, I am incredibly disgusted by the way Neil has handled the backlash. I'm aware this game has been review bombed but for those of us who actually played the game, his reaction to our criticisms seems like another blow to the gut. On Twitter, he's made jokes about the reviews and that's just a shame he can't admit to his own shortcomings and mistakes, but I really do expect nothing less from him as he's clearly shown he does not care about fans from the story he's written. That is why this game is a 4/10. I'd recommend never touching it, don't let it taint your opinion on the series like it did mine. Just know Ellie and Joel are out there surviving just like the end of The Last of Us and let it end there. Thank you for taking the time to read this large review I truly hope it helps some of you find peace knowing you're not alone in your thoughts even if the Games director will laugh in your face, and I hope those of you who have not purchased it now have some sense of the anger the community has felt and will think twice. For me it's a cautionary tale that our mistakes can come back to haunt us; that no matter how much we correct our ways, some will focus on that terrible mistake, so be ready for the consequences.

And at the risk of sounding preachy, that instead of letting our future selves be defined by our mistakes we should strive to be better regardless.

Unfortunately that potential crashed and burned worse than the Hindenburg. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me get this out of the way before my review:

Based on trophy statistics, only 25% of players (as of 6/27/2020) have finished the game. Let that sink in while you read this...

    - If you are looking for a game that gives the player the choice to change the outcome, this isn't for you.

    - Want a game that's wrapped up nicely with a bow that leaves you feeling the stress and tension resolved? Definitely not your game.

Last of Us Part II is a story of revenge and its consequences, pain and regret. It doesn't pull any punches, and doesn't let the player feel like the "good guy" for their actions. There are no true heroes or villains, every person in the game has their story and life. So many games have you playing a protagonist you're meant to live vicariously through. They make you feel like you're the hero, and any dire actions you must make to achieve your goal is justified by what you've set out to accomplish.

One of the biggest points of controversy in this story is actually why I praise it so much. Having the player see first hand the consequences of their actions gives wait to the story's message. Just because you like a character and have spent so much time with them doesn't mean they are inherently good, just as playing against another character doesn't make them bad. Ellie and Abby have both hurt innocent people and have brutally murdered at the expense of the innocent. They have also helped their enemies, friends, and strangers. These characters are human, they are imperfect. Not heros. Not villains.

Let's tackle the elephant in the room: Joel's death. I felt this wan inevitable. Joel is the sole reason the world does not have a cure. The Fireflies wanted it, Ellie wanted it, but he couldn't let it happen. Just because he was (relatively) good to Ellie doesn't mean he is safe from the world around him. Eventually his actions were bound to catch up to him, and it just happened sooner than most players expected.

I won't dive into the technical aspects of the game, as it seems everyone agrees that this is a visual masterpiece. Gameplay is solid, and players are given solid choices to be as stealthy or violent as they care to be. I'm not gonna touch the "SJW" non-controversy as it in no way detracts from the game, and it's a lazy argument primarily made by those that actually haven't finished the story.

I highly recommend the game. I do feel like there's a bit of room to expand upon stealth, and that's the only reason I don't give it a perfect 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I personally enjoyed the gameplay a lot, and felt it was a very good experience through the way Ellie must adapt to survive. I thought the dynamic between Dina and Ellie was awesome, I enjoyed the way the bonded together and all the exploring. The first half of the game was very good in my opinion, apart from what happened in the lodge and especially the way they did it (I felt the fans deserved better, I knew it was going to happen but not that early and in that matter) but other than that I throughly enjoyed the first half of the game. However, the second half was a bit of a disappointment, why would I want to play as her! Especially for that long - 3 chapters! Tbf, the story for her was alright but the fact that it was her made it less enjoyable, it felt like the developers wanted you to like her even though she has done what she has done. My biggest flaw with the game has to be the ‘boss’ battle, why the **** did they kill that character like it was nothing and especially why did they make you fight Ellie as her! A total joke in my opinion, I want to kill her not try and kill Ellie, I did not enjoy that battle whatsoever. The epilogue was a bit redeeming, with a nice revenge story, but I think Ellie should’ve finished the job, as I don’t want a Last of Us 3 to be about her, she’s a character that maybe is supposed to symbolise Joel and Ellie, but for what she did i think she should’ve have been killed.

Overall, I think the game is a solid 8/10, the scenery and gameplay is top notch and some character bonding is nice to see, but the story at parts lets the game down, especially the ending.

The gameplay and graphics may be its redemeable points since they are truly amazing, but that is to be expected of any AAA game nowadays so its not an accomplishment. The story has been the biggest focus for the franchise since the first game and its DLC, but this time around it seems as if Neil's creativity has been dulled to the extreme, the structure of the story is incoherent and has plot hole after plot hole every 5 minutes, with the sad reality that neither Joel or Ellie are really the protagonists, this isn´t a game about them but rather a mediocre attempt to introduce a new protagonist for the saga and why we should care about her, but despite the great efforts of Naughty Dog, she does not induce any kind of sympathy or attachment from the player, after laying the game for hours all you feel for her is the desire to get her kmilled and erase her sorry existence from the story as quickly as possible, but the game even robs of this in the end, with Ellie letting her go in a climax as boring and badly written as the rest of the game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A provocative and exceptional storytelling experience. One of the few games that really challenged me with its narrative.

First, what can't be understated is the Creators ability to absolutely enthrall you in the game. It's been years since I have played a game that took me through a roller coaster of emotions like The Last of Us Part II. I found myself jumping in my seat at my first encounter with the Scars, gasping during the brutal intense moments between Ellie and the "Wolves," and even emotion distress in the critical scenes between the key characters in their pivotal final scene.

Like many post-apocalyptic works, the monsters are not the greatest thing to fear, but our fellow man. But this work goes further. Throughout the story, we're shown and experience the capability of people to commit both selfless acts of good and inflict abject horror upon each other. What's more - and what makes the journey unique in The Last of Us Part II - are that you are forced to reckon with the violent nature of the game through the lens of opposing characters. I find, despite myself, as I was forced to confront Abby and Ellie from both sides that neither were fights that I wanted to win.

Ultimately, a must-play experience from the perspective of immersive storytelling. I firmly believe it will effect the future of narrative in games that we see in the future of the industry.

However there are many reasons I think the game is great, one of them being that despite over characters in the game being killed so quickly and that Ellie doesn’t have enough time to pay attention - was think of yourself in this situation and it equals up. People will complain about character development whilst there isn’t much it makes a bit sense as Ellie has already spent about 5 years with them it wouldn’t really make sense for such character development as it isn’t really necessary. Now the ending despite if you hate it or love it, it all is so real and makes sense. Ellie after killing almost all of Abby’s friends as finally got the chance to kill Abby but what is the point why do it why Abby had a reason to kill Joel but most importantly will killing Abby bring Joel back of course not, Ellie seems to have had enough killing and is done for now. If you imagine yourself at this situation you would have more likely done the same thing. Now onto the gameplay I am glad that most of the gameplay is similar to the first game because that system is perfect however has some really good improvements now such as being able to craft more supplies to use in battle but also to improve the way you play through using supplements for a variety of stuff. The guns in this game are also so fun and enjoyable I never ended only using one gun for a encounter. Being able to use a rope to access places which we wouldn’t be able to do without is amazing, and the prime feature is just so useful and so realistic. The graphics is this game are top notch; one of the best games to perfect graphics so far not only that but the way your clothes will change depending on what environment you are in and where you land. Your bullets can be seen having different effects and sounds on what they are hitting like I don’t see this in any other game. Also I forgot to mention the small boss fights which are really nice and interesting to do it makes your heart beat especially on the harder difficulty’s. The dodging system is extremely useful and so cool it make me feel like in a movie or in a situation in real life. Sorry if i missed any stuff. One to the accessibility options I am so glad and appreciate the fact they made these so many people can experience the game whichever way they would like even if they are slightly blind or deaf. Thank you Naughty Dog. Now finally Joel dying had a huge effect on me it cause me depression for several days and still it whilst writing this. Never would I have thought a video game would have such a effect on me. Truly sad Joel died but hopefully we will soon see him in a DLC. So... on TLoU 1 we become very attached to the main characters, after all, we lived what they lived, we grew with them, we felt sorry for them, we became attached. But stop and think about what happened. In the end, Joel killed Abby's father, which was also the only person that could develop a cure. Not only he doomed the entire human race, to save Ellie, but he killed an innocent girl's father. We feel that it's justifiable because we care about both Ellie and Joel. When Abby did what she did on TLoU Part II, we got naturally angry at her, and wanted her dead. That's exactly how Abby felt, when Joel killed her father, she did exactly what we would've done in her situation - killed the person that killed her father - and we hated her for that. So people hate this game because a girl got to kill the person that killed her father, while the one that they care about was the better person and manage to forgive and release herself from all the hate she had in herself. A modern classic masterpiece that brings the morality complexity that exists in the real life to a video game. Unfortunately, a complexity that a lot of players failed to even try to understand and outcried at the lack of fan service. Naughty Dog's biggest mistake was to overestimate their audience.

After one week of playing, I’ve just completed The Last of Us: Part II. Emotionally wrecking. Naughty Dog has created another work of art that will go down as one of its best opera magna. Naughty Dog has created another work of art that will go down as one of its best opera magna. Granted, despite the huge efforts it doesn’t have an engaging story as the first game. The pacing is odd and even distracting at times. Time jumps aren’t always agreeable. But, in the end, it all comes together in a rather coherent manner. With new environments, new dynamics and new characters The Last of Us: Part II strives for a world which is more ambitious, relentless and immersive. This admirable effort (or, rather, the ideal) works to a large extent -though I'd wished some things would’ve not gone unexplored. The game mechanics, gameplay, atmosphere, graphics: not much to say on these areas other than perfect.

I might have a soft spot to lean more on the weaknesses in comparison to the game’s strengths (which is a lot). However, there is no doubt that The Last of Us: Part II is a rare gem. Don’t look at the abnormally bad reviews and scores. This is GOTY material right here. Taking only half a point off on account of the story, I am giving it a solid 9.5.

Graffic is grate, physics is grate but some twists are horrible like situation with transgender, strange pregnancy etc. Guys, does people try to stay a live in appocaliptic world or they just think what gender they are and who should they sleep with? Honestly, the gameplay is decent enough. Nothing ground breaking but very comfortable. There are some super long side quests that sort of inflate the games size.

Story wise the game lost me. I felt that it was sooooooo difficult to finish and really had to take breaks to play VR or even just surf my news feed. So disappointed in how some beloved characters are treated and the ending

I get the message they wanted to share with this game, but they did it with the wrong game and in the worst way possible (Killing him was ok, but do it properly and not so fast... Unbelievable)... Horrible choice (it gave me nausea and I stopped playing, and I'll never play it again).

Gameplay wise it is very cool and fun.
The gameplay mechanics and AI are incredible and very fun.

But the story is so bad and the choices about the characters are so delusional that you just can't play it.
They hunt you down through the entire game and you just can not enjoy it. I am sorry.
I thought that I was going to leave a good review, but I felt so disrespected that I just can not.

    What were you thinking?

I still respect all the work and effort to create this game, good job.
But story wise.... My God. Just NO.

I am not being nice, I know and I am sorry for that, but we are sick of being tricked into buying your trash covered in glitters and fake good ratings (we all know they are fake, we just try to trust you).
I hope that one day you will all learn your lesson.

I am going to end this review with one of the most used lines in games:

I finished the campaign last night and I can honestly say this game is a stunning achievement both narratively, thematically and as a technical achievement from a graphics technology standpoint. Gameplay has been tweaked and is a fun loop of explore-scavenge-craft-combat that improves on the 1st game with subtle but much needed changes.

Story wise, this is a game that asks you to understand multiple view points and to empathise with even your worst enemy. The mature themes on display here ask you to look deeper than simply your attachment to the 1st games characters. You will be forced to confront loss, anger and a need for retribution but then come out the other side to see the bigger picture that 'narratively speaking' tests your ability to empathize with a fellow human being and your compassion. And yes the game is quite dark in narrative but like the first game there is always a glimmer of hope throughout given by those surrounding you during your journey.

The ending will leave you thinking. But I felt a sense of satisfaction that this story has come full circle and made sense in the grander scheme of things. It's not a fairytale ending by any means. But if you played through this game and expected a happy ending then you missed the point of your characters journey.

I highly recommend The Last of Us 2 to mature minded gamers who want to play a game that presents a gritty experience with it's confronting themes and narrative. If your someone who will take offence to a story not providing you with constant positive feedback then your not going to have a good time here. But I have no issue giving this game my strongest of recommendations. Thank you Naughty Dog & all the actors/actresses, the world you created is just a stunning achievement. BRAVO!!

It made me love the story more than every game I've ever played. The unsatisfying moments were just another layer in this roller-coaster of emotions I had to suffer through. I didn't watch any spoilers and barely an trailers beforehand. If first game would have been spoiled, it would've impacted the reviews as well, because the ending of part 1 made everything feel pointless too, but I loved it. This game had the same effect on me.

It wasn't perfect but I can't say which part I liked more. These games are the standard of what I like stories to be, so 9.5 for me.

This really hurts to say, but the main issue i have with this game is that the story feels like a first draft and the narratives are rushed in many ways, such as ---'s death, Abby's perspective and the constant back-and-forth of the story (along with a disappointingly linear game with potential).

i loved the last of us 1 and completed it start to finish the day before i got this game (as well as completing it 3 other times). So i can confidently say that whilst the graphics, game play, ai and environments are 10/10, the story is weak and rips you away from your favorite characters yet fails to treat new characters well enough like Abby or Jesse.

A lot of the problems is with how Abby's narrative was portrayed, we are given very little time to sympathies with her, especially with the fact that Joel actually saves her life and Ellie begs for his life. So when the game forces the player to play as her for half the game and rip you away from an Ellie revenge story it feels disappointing to the trailer expectations and hype.

About 2 hours into the game (without seeing the leaks or many trailers to go in blind) i thought the game was going to go for an open-world survival horror story, where the player can hunt down each of the people responsible to find Abby, whilst infected and WLFs exist in an open world that Ellie needs to traverse to find supplies and the targets. Sounds cool? yea i wish the game continued this way but it dosnt...

...the game unfortunately gets linear again after about 50 mins of a fantastic open world area where the player can go where they want, get supplies, find treasures/clues/puzzles, be attacked completely out the blue by enemies (like one time at a workbench which was crazy cool), but then this ends and its back to being linear.

this is where the story fails, as when many of targets are killed, i simply don't remember or recognize who they are, the initial act of the game is rushed and you wont remember who the people are whom Ellie kills until they are dead. Even characters like Ellie are treated like Dina's rebound and Tommy is gone except for probably 6 minutes of screen time.

To conclude, i am very disappointed after 7 years and probably unlimited funds from Sony that they made a weak story line (that was very predictable in areas) and a surprisingly linear game.

There is a reason why 'The Last of Us' does not have Part 1 in its title, it was a concluded story with Ellie's acceptance of Joel's lie. A bittersweet ending that did not need a brutal ending for characters and a first draft story with so many back and forths.

Like a lot of people here I played the first game and have been waiting with high expectations for Part 2 since it was announced. I think the game touches a lot on today’s society, good and bad. A lot of bad. We all have a right to an opinion however I do wonder why all these negative reviews and if I played the same game as the majority of people reviewing here. Are a lot of people being simple minded because of some of subjects that the game touches? Ie: Ellie’s sexuality. Sad if that is the case.

When I completed the game I watched through all the game credits. Correction. I stared at the credits for a good 10/15 min just listening to the background guitar music and reflecting on what just happen.
An emotional rollercoaster, happy moments, very sad moments and an unbelievable and unexpected story that kept me always guessing what would happen next.
Is this game worth the 40 hours I just spent on it? Definitely yes and I will be playing it again for the Platinum.

Is this the game of the decade? I believe so. Why? Because its a story of love, hate, selfishness and revenge that totally describes the society we live in today. And I love it for that. It also makes you reflect on how far are you willing to go to do what you think in your mind is right and just.
We all have a right to our own opinion so, if you want to have your own opinion, do not listen to the bad reviews here and play the game. Only then you will know if it is worth it.

I thank you Naughty Dog for taking me on this incredible journey and giving me one of the best games I ever played.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright where to begin. The last of us part 2 is a great game. hear me out first. i absolutely loved the first game when i finished i immediately began another play through. the story and characters were so well done and it is a near perfect game. this is how i see the games. The first last of us had okay gameplay, it wasn't bad whatsoever i actually really enjoy it but it was nothing special while the story was perfect and i loved it so much i cant wait to see the HBO show. The last of us part 2 has amazing graphics, gameplay, bosses, chase scenes everything. the game is so immersive and brutal enemies cry out for their friends and lives. but where this game drops is the story. People absolutely hate the story and i completely get why. its a mess and sometimes theres just a bit too much political nonsense. but for me it doesn't ruin the experience completely. people are out here giving the game a zero which is absolutely far fetched and undeserving. a zero means it has nothing good at all and you even though you hate the story you cant just ignore the visuals, acting, and gameplay. its very unfair. now going deeper into the story. i will admit, i was furious when i saw that i had to play as abby for half the game. i hated her for what she did to joel and wanted her dead. but as you keep playing you learn he motives. think about it. Ellie and abby are on the exact same story. someone killed their father figure and they want revenge. why is abby the bad guy here? yes, i still hate abby for killing joel but the story humanizes everyone and develops them in a good way. people are also mad about the ending. i can see why but people need to look into it more. this whole story is a violent revenge story. Joel kills abbys dad, abby kills joel, ellie kills owen and mel, abby kills jesse, just a whole circle of violence. had ellie killed abby at the end, Last of us part 3 probably wouldve been about lev getting revenge on ellie. She said she could never forgive joel for what he did but she could try, so why not abby? In the first game joel made a selfish choice and the one person he cares about deeply hates him. In part 2 Ellie makes a selfish choice and loses everything. It all comes full circle. i loved the game, story and gameplay, but i completely understand why people are mad and upset at the game, but i think its all for the wrong reasons and it is getting undeserved 0’s. Would recommend the game to people, but its not for everyone. Expand
