First of all, for anyone who hated this game deep down of their heart JUST because they read the leak or even worst because their favourite youtuber/streamer.. well i feel sorry because you cant make your own decision. Actually its 9/10 for me, I hated to play Abby at first especially how they cut Ellie story its just a bummer for me. Slowly i realized how the ND team want to make us seeing a different perspective, BUT still they failed to make me more care about Abby. in Abby scenario i played in rush and almost didnt enjoy it. especially how they make Abby stage are more linear than Elly. As a whole this game is not perfect game but i cant stop thinking about this game. i didnt readt about the leak, i got the leaked from my friends who pissboff about the LGBT and feminism, and i dont care. in the perfect world its not gonna happen anyway, also we already had Joel "hero moment" in the first game. ND put a big risk on this gam and Neil already told us it will divide us, and it worked! so what make thisbgame so good for me, i love how they potrayed Joel and Ellie relationship, they are not father and daughter they even cant say how much they love each other. Gameplay and graphic is one of the best in this generation. This is a great game but i cant recommend it to every person unlike the first one. Expand

I thought it was fantastic (mileage may vary)

Before I can say anything I feel there is a real problem with how people are rating this with a game, as far as I can tell the main issue people have is with the story. Which is fine it’s not going to be everybody’s cup of tea, it did feel like it was a specific artistic vision rather than just going for a story more designed for a mainstream

Before I can say anything I feel there is a real problem with how people are rating this with a game, as far as I can tell the main issue people have is with the story. Which is fine it’s not going to be everybody’s cup of tea, it did feel like it was a specific artistic vision rather than just going for a story more designed for a mainstream audience that everyone will like but will be blander. However the story is just one (admittedly big) part of the game, and to give it 0/10 because you didn’t like the story while ignoring all the other aspects (graphics, technical aspects, performances, soundtrack etc.) then you just look like a baby throwing their toys out the pram cause you didn’t get the story you specifically wanted. Maybe if you’re not emotionally mature enough to be able to assess something as a whole and just freak out cause you’re upset, maybe that lack of emotional maturity it why some of the story is lost on you. (By the way, I’m not saying if you didn’t like the story it is cause you aren’t emotionally immature)

    My thoughts on it:

Story- I can see why people may not have liked it but I personally loved it. Just try not to go in with too many expectations.

Gameplay- Is a great evolution from the first game, definitely improved a great deal but still isn’t anything too special. Just fairly basic stuff done really well with a few additional features to spice things up. If you enjoy the gameplay of ND games you’ll like this basically.

Graphics/ Technical- Games looks amazing and I had no issues whatsoever with it. Ran smoothly, no crashes and no noticeable glitches or bugs (my personal experience)

Performances- All the cast were great, some very powerful performance even if you didn’t like the story I don’t think you can say the cast didn’t do a great job.

Soundtrack- There were a few stand out tracks and songs but for the most part it remained unnoticed in the background which is really what it is meant to do.

There was also just so much attention to detail and small details throughout it made the experience so much better. If you did hate the story / game I would say maybe give it some time and get some distance then maybe try it again, especially if you were a fan of the original. You might be able to enjoy it for what it is upon reflection. I do genuinely believe in the long term this game will be looked on positively (like MGS2) but if you still don’t like it that cool, not everyone has to like everything, just try and judge it fairly and as a whole.

Review: I believed the story to be overall great. If you go into the game without knowing or hearing of the leaks, much of it would be considered to be unpredictable. It’s told in a way that really lets you understand how a character you seemingly at first despise, you can learn to understand and sympathize with and see how a story of revenger can ultimately unfold when you explore both perspectives of two different yet seemingly alike individuals. I enjoyed this games story for what it brought to the table and how it attempted to create a different story arc than what we may have originally expected. I do say a beloved character will be missed and although I hate they way they spit on this character for the sake of the narrative, I appreciate the sprinkled moments of joy found with this character that explore further some times after the events of the original game. Eventually towards the end it all comes full circle and leaves you with an empty somber feeling. This by no means is a bad thing.

In a imperfect world like much of our own, we make decisions that breed consequences.

**** happens and you find a reason to move on. Gameplay and User Interfaces: 9 / 10

Review: The gameplay is a lot of fun and vastly improves Upon the first with adding verticality with the ability to jump. I love the variety of weapons introduced and the fact that you can upgrade them through these very neatly detailed work benches. The menus are clean and very detailed with lots of customization options in terms of the game difficulty, audio and accessibility settings for those with certain disabilities.

This game takes all of its features and builds upon the originals to make vast bug improvements both appealing to the eyes and in terms of usability. Music: 9 / 10 Review: The tones and music is a great mix of the traditional Last of Us music and more modern ambient sounds and beats to build up tension and sink you further into the moment when things are going to hit the fan. Moments where you face humans are full of great audio build up as well as when you are facing infected.

I felt hyped for the upcoming battles similar to in Days Gone which is great use of music to build up the suspense and tension. Personally loved it. Environments: 8 / 10 The environments in the game varied enough to breathe different air periodically and although you had so many different settings It did feel like primarily you were in the same main environment type but that may have been due to the weather Seattle mainly being a very wet environment. The set pieces for the levels are favorites of mine. You get everything I would Have hoped for and I truly enjoyed the more horror aspects if the game. They truly took it up a notch and laid these areas out perfectly. My overall score is a 9. I feel that they truly hit all the right notes in terms of environments, gameplay, customization options, graphics, music and most importantly the story. Some improvement can be made in terms of infected enemy types, would love to see more creative ways to kill some big ones as opposed to just guns blazing. I would also like there to be more in regards to evolution of the infected. It seemed to just get brushed over in the game.

Naughty Dog made it this way with a special intention you must understand. The way you are confronted with Joels Killer while playing her is a really good way to give some controversials to think about and reflect. minus 2 points for killing Joel, and I think the third part in Santa Barbara could be a little more longer, equal to the Seattle Storys.

The most mature game i've ever played. This is an art, so much emotions invested in storytelling, and i love all of it. Even so many negative reviews is just a mark of how much people was involved. This is a not just game that you can play to got some positive feelings, but a movie or something, that can give you different emotions, but in the end you'll be happy to take such ride.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just a little ending explanation this game is a 10/10 this is a review in in of itself The hatred that Ellie feels for Abby is an externalized reflection of the hatred Ellie harbors for herself.
Why? Well Joel deeply hurt both Abby and Ellie in different ways and they both punished him for it.
Ellie hates Abby for torturing Joel to death, especially because she didn't get a chance to restore her relationship with Joel (but also I mean, obviously Abby killed the man she came to see as her father). This is a mirror to the fact that in a way, Ellie also tortured Joel. she did it for years in a different way, and I'd say in a way that was more painful for Joel. And that was by disconnecting from him.
She hates herself for torturing him like that and not restoring their relationship when there was still time. That's the real pain she has been trying to avoid facing during this entire revenge quest, she's like a drug addict using revenge to avoid dealing with those painful feelings of regret. This is the realization she has while she is drowning Abby when she has the flashback to the scene on the porch with Joel and chooses to spare Abby. She's not just forgiving Abby,
she's really most importantly forgiving herself and finally coming to terms with what happened between her and Joel.
I think her leaving his guitar to rest in the house and walking away is supposed to symbolically represent that she has forgiven Joel, made peace with what happened between them and is finally ready to move on and start a new life.
I hated the end at first but after much deliberation I think it's actually really poetic. People saying the game is just about "revenge is bad" I think have really missed the point. And the end isn’t “stupid”, imo.

While some will say the ending is disappointing, I have to disagree. I agreed at first, but after contemplation, the ending made total sense. This game requires a great deal of emotional maturity to properly understand, or else the core meaning is lost entirely. Everything about this game is beautiful and I cannot recommend it enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great sequel of a previous great and loved game, but not for everyone. I will start with the gameplay first. The gameplay is the same as in the previous game but with little new things(for example new skill trees or new upgrades for the weapons which can be seen).I really like that they added more exploring to the game because is making much longer and interesting. I appreciate that the weapons are not exactly the same one for the both characters. The listening mode is still weird but sometimes it can help you a lot. The graphics are one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. The sound is so good, it make you know when the battle start and when it ends, it can make you feel like you want to hear it more when you hear characters chatting, and even the gunshots hear awesome, and is also a important part when you try to play stealth because you can hear a weird sound when someone is seeing you.
Now about the story: I must say that I almost cried when Joel died and I understand why the did that, but the reason I still don’t like his death is how they killed him.It could be more heroic, like saving Ellie from a gunshot or something like that.In the beginning I hated Abby (even after the end) but after some time I realised that she’s not a bad person as most of the people thinks. Her appearance is still making me fell weird but after some thinking I understood why she look so muscular(is because she lives in a camp which is like a military base and also she wanted to make sure that she is strong enough to kill Joel no matter what or how). Ellie in my opinion haven’t changed much from the previous game. The only difference from the previous game is that she can swim, make her own decisions much cleaver and better(at leat at the end) and other little stuffs. I still don’t understand why some people have problems with LGBT of this game, or the ‘transgender’ girl, I mean how can that change the game so much, if you want you can always skip the parts where you can see these things. The ending lacks a little but it is OK.I mean it wasn’t necessary to make Ellie lose her fingers.
I encourage people to buy this game, but at an offer(just if you want). If you don’t have a problem with Joel’s death,LGBT,transgender,Abby arms I believe this will be one of your favourite games.

    First off Game-play
The game-play is a whole lot better than the first games with exciting new mechanics which have a huge variety of ways to get through encounters which bolster replay ability. You can set traps, throw bombs, stun people, use a bow and arrow or a silenced pistol to take enemies down quietly and craft explosive arrows and incendiary shells. The controls are seamless and smooth which is really easy to pick up and play through the game including the vehicle control and the boats. The only drawback could be the fact that you have to keep scrounging around for materials, but its only purpose was to get you ready for the next encounter which could be with the infected or humans. Overall I would give the game-play a 9/10
    sound design and music
This is an incredible aspect of the game because it adds to the atmosphere of the game during encounters with enemies. Gustavo Santonella did an impressive job with the soundtrack as well in which everybody should give a listen to. The sound design is incredible from when you fight infected and the music creeps in which adds to the immersion greatly. I would give this a 10/10
    Graphics
Do you really want me to explain this? The amount of detail and colour which is put into this game is absolutely astounding with things you wouldn't even notice when you play through the game unless you dig deep into it and find them. The facial animations are realistic and expressive which shows that naughty dog put in a lot of effort once again. I would give this a 10/10
    The story
Now this is a controversial one.The story is absolutely incredible and Naughty Dog makes some bold, unpredictable decisions to make sure it shocks people. Around two hours into the game Joel is killed by Abby who murders him with a golf club. For me, this was a powerful way to start a revenge story. For some people, this is a generic cliche which is overused. At the same time you could say the same for the first game, which was a trek across the united states in a post-apocalyptic land.So what was it that made it special? It was the character development between these Joel and Ellie and the emotive experience in which it was executed. In the first half of the game you hunt down Abby and become a ruthless killer who doesn't care about whatever she does or who she kills or puts in risk only to murder those who have an association with Abby just so she can track her down and kill her. She turns into this monster who kills a ton of people just so she can be satisfied with herself that she kills Abby. Naughty dog does an excellent job of putting yourself in the character's shoes and feeling every emotion which is put into this game. In the first half of the game you feel angry towards Abby and what she did to Joel and Naughty Dog pulls it off. In the second half of the game the clock resets and you play as Abby and now you don't want to play as Abby because you couldn't care less about her and her character arc because she killed Joel, but as you keep playing you understand who she is and her personality. Abby was a firefly but her father was killed by Joel because Joel wanted to save Ellie and killed him in the process.Naughty dog could have taken a more predictable approach to the story where Joel and Ellie set off on another adventure across the country and hunted down cults and bad guys, but they decided to take a different approach. Instead, your actions in the previous game had grave consequences which led to this game. I feel that this game honours Ellie and Joel's relationship as it shows the great lengths that Ellie would go to in order to avenge Joel.
There is no real bad guy in this game but it has different perspectives. We learn more about the wolves from Abby's side and when we experience her side of the story and the world she lives in and we also see the Seraphites side of the story when we are with Abby looking for medicine in the hospital whilst we are with Lev who was part of the Seraphites.I deeply enjoyed this game for those reasons and I was able to connect with these characters and love them.During the end in the fight between Abby and Ellie, I wasn't rooting or cheering for any of these characters because I really liked these characters and I did'nt want death to befall them. The only issue I could really see about the game was the pacing issues in which I don’t think could have been done perfectly because it is hard to even out the days. Apart from this though i would give the story a 18.5/20.
    Overall score: Game-play-9
    Graphics-10
    Sound design-10
    Story-18.5
    overall-48.5/50

Its difficult to start writing a review when there is so much to say, so let's write about the possitve aspects that we all know about.
beautiful scenary's, mechanics, attention to detail.
Now , as far as story and gameplay , what a dissapointment. I want to start by saying I have always supported naughty dog I thought they never made mistakes and they truly cared about the fans, clearly not the case here, first of all they tricked us into buying a lie, they lied in the trailer so we could all buy this game, its a different thing to edit footage so it looks like something different but to completly change and put different scenes that is not ok I as a fan I feel extremely hurt.
Now the problem is not Joel's death as terrible as that was, the real problem is naughty dog try to make us feel attachment towards Abby like we did with Joel and Ellie and it became so predictable that nobody bought into it, they tried to use the same psycological tricks that they did in the first one, they even played the same scenes, the scene with abby and the zebra just like joel and the jirraffe , they tried to mimic the relationship between lev and Abby with ellie and joel, even when abby rescued lev in the end she was like "I got you" just like Joel when he rescued Ellie, when Ellie found the musesum and abby the aquarium and there are a lot more scenes you can look at them online, I think that is not that Abby's story was bad is just that we DIDNT CARE we were here to see JOEL AND ELLIE, thats why we bought the game, ok you killed Joel you better make up for it, and it was not achieved,is not that we (and I mean we as fans who didnt like the game) didnt understand the game, I feel its not a difficoult game to understand, we get what you were trying to do, show us the cycle of violence, how Joel was not really a hero and he destryed a lot of peoples lives, How ellie was able to let abby go , We get it, you just werent able to create the same empathy towards a character like you did in the previous I mean we met ellie as a kid, we saw how joel evolved as a person and we were with them every step of the way we understood their actions and we cared. now you make HALF of the game about a new character that is just meh , not likeable or complex enough for us to care,
What yout tried to do and provoke in the player just didnt work and thats where the failire of this game is, and after Abby's section of the game was over, there was no turning back, it was way to streched out , you lost the player, there was no flashback of the game that would bring us back to care, there was only sadness that we waited for YEARS for this game,
I am extremely hurt by what you did to my favorite game of all time. definetly not worth the money.

Most players are used to the happy go lucky ending which spoils their perception because Naughty Dog wanted to portray reality of situations. That every action has a consequence. Joel saved Ellie but he took another's life. Ellie and Abby are much similar in terms of seeking revenge but Ellie did come out the 'better' person by forgiveness. Revenge is a toxic path to self destruction. Expand

Ellie and Abby were great characters each with their own desires and drives. Both felt like the same person in what they went thru and how they coped with it. At the end I’m satisfied with ultimate outcome. I do still miss Joel but at least his memory lives on thru Ellie. Leveldesign, Cutscenes and Gameplay are as awesome as they were with its predecessor, and the racial diversity and LGBT representation were written so well into the game, that they - for the most part - do not feel overly forced or on the nose, but the good part stops right there. the story is so incredibly flawed that it cannot be more than a four. There are several weird plotholes that made absolutely no sense to me, like joel’s stupidity leading to his death, or the fact that the people hunting joel for ruining the cure don’t take ellie with them to at least try something with her immunity. there has to be more than one doctor alive.
But the biggest problem ist the arrogant idea to manipulate the player into liking abby by having to play as her for 40 percent of the game. There was no coming back from torturing joel to death after he saved her live. I just straight forward despised her for the whole game and felt disgusted to play her. And the way the tried it was too obvious and so pushy it was kind of insulting to the player. That really ruined the whole game for me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's neither the masterpiece nor the heap of trash some people claim it is.
Gameplay is awesome and engaging, as expected.
Visually, it is also very good. The environment is immersive and detailed.
However, the main reason one plays these games is for the story, and sadly it falls very flat in that regard.
All the minority representation is wasted on a continuously looping and predictable revenge plot between Ellie and Abby.
The timing is awful when introducing Abby as a playable character.
Also, sometimes Ellie does wildly out-of-character decisions constantly, to the point that it feels like a "I have to do this because of reasons" moment.
New characters are bland and feel like wasted potential, but it doesn't matter, as most are killed to give and absurd lesson of "killing is wrong", as if the player was an idiot.
All in all, character development and relatabiliy are almost completely sacrificed in order for the plot to advance.

Only 3 of the new characters are actually sympathetic. The rest are a bunch of murdering hypocritical psychopaths. The story focuses on themes anyone with an ounce of sympathy or empathy knows. Revenge ≠ equal justice and killing for anything other than survival is bad. It's completely pointless and only tries to make people feel **** and not try and convey anything of real substance. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Controversial. This is qhat Neil Druckmann wanted to do, a controversial game. The game isn't perfect, but still my favourite game. I'll explain you why.

The Last of Us is a series known to be something like a "interactive movie", this is why I am not going to review the gameplay itself, only the story (The gameplay was pretty decent though, basically the same as the first game).

Like in every movie with CGI we talk about how good it looks, and my god, the game looks awesome. They use every bit of the Playstation 4. The music is a absolute 10/10 for me. The people who loved the music from the first game are gonna love this. While I am writing this review I am listening to the soundtrack, it is f*ing awesome.

Now about the big thing: the story. There's a lot to say. What I hear from people who don't like the game is that it's not the fact that Joel dies - it's the way he dies. Well I see it like this: They went for realism (I mean in the story itself and not the gameplay) and so with the death's of character's. Like Jesse and the other guy who always says "pendejo" or something (forgot the name right now), they both died without any warning and no music building up. It was a total surprise, like for the charakters seeing this, in this case Ellie and Abby. They make no exceptions, not even for Joel. In my eyes this is something new and it's really good. And I mean it's not like that Joel got honored in the rest of the game (irony). The also hasn't a "up's and down's" story. It's mostly only downs. It's really sad. For Ellie and Abby. The idea from Naughty Dog showing the prespective from the protagonist and antagonist is awesome. It destroys the line from good and bad. Normally in movies and videogames there is a thing (forgot name) where you can see how to do the pacing. For example movies start slowly in the beginning, then something semi-big happens, then character developement, and then the big finally. Something similar exists for games. In the first game they did it very well but in this game it was complicated because they hace 2 characters to explain. It is 2 stories in one big story. This is why it was complicated to do the pacing right. And I agree, the pacing isn't perfect. Not even close. But I love the idea behind it and I'd love to see more games using this idea of showing both characters in such detail. But what I would have changed is that they replaced the Abby-story to the end. So that you play the exact same game twice but with different characters. That means you can replay Ellie with New game+ without the passages with Abby somewhere in the middle. The Idea that was used in Resident Evil 2 remake would also fit, where you can choose who you whant to play, but have to play both anyway to understand the story in the end. But this is only my idea. Many people don't like the ending of the game. I totally understand why. Ellie left her family with Dina and her son to kill Abby and in the end she doesn't do it. But think about it. First, Ellie wanted to do it in first place. But during the fight she changed her mind. Why? Because she realises that everyone has a backstory and Abby got already revenge. She got tortured for months there. I think this was even worse for her than just simply die. I always hear: "But she killed Joel". Yes, she did. But I think we all forgot that Ellie killed almost all of her friends, even her ex-boyfriend and her pregnant friend. The ending was really sad when Dina left Ellie. But I think she just left because Dina thought that Ellie was dead and didn't want to raise a child alone in the apocalypse and went back to Jackson.

I am really excited for the Multoplayer mode and would welcome a DLC or even a part 3. I loved the contuitation of the lie from Joel from the first part. The flackbacks were great. Graphics and animation were awesome. Idea was great. Music was fitting perfectly. These are the reason why it is my favourite game and a 10/10 so far.

I know I will get a lot of hate but I do not care at all. You can try to change my mind, but please be decent. And don't forget, this is a subjective review and not really objective. So don't say: This game is good/bad. Say: In my opinion the game is good/bad.

Have a nice day and enjoy your games!

It might not be something that everybody hopes for but I think it has done what it has set out to do. It created an emotional story that emphasized seeing things from different perspectives, giving more dimensions to the characters. I have seen sequels that played it safe by forcing out unnatural or predictable plots just to expand the franchise, but Naughty Dog chose a path that not many dares to venture, a convincing and natural development of a story even though it's a risky one. Arguably there are many potential ideas for a sequel, but I doubt most of them will leave such an impression like the current sequel did. Still love the original main characters, it hurts to see one of them go, but I think it's well thought out and the ending didn't disappoint me personally. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wouldn't normally review a game online because who in the hell cares, but hearing about death threats directed at Laura Bailey and seeing people give this 0/10 has prompted me to make a Metacritic account and even the scales a little bit. This game clearly and unequivocally sets a new benchmark for videogames in terms of story telling (yes, even more so than the first game), characterisation and voice acting. The environments are so lush, haunting and fully-realised that even the details have details (the aquarium and theatre particularly astounded me). Although the gameplay is not quite as perfect as it seems within the first half, it's certainly tight, fun, varied and nuanced. A clear 9/10, probably a 9.5 if I could.

As for the controversy about the plot, the developers are clearly aware of the love people have for the original characters and they do not take Joel's death lightly. In fact, they are using the affection that we have built up by playing the first game to create an incredibly dramatic and epic story that examines violence and the effects it has on people. The characters are able to act so callously only by dehumanising each other, which we become party to. The game initially paints Abby as cruel and evil and we happily murder dozens of her friends after she brutally murders our beloved Joel. But then we see her side, the pain Joel indirectly inflicted on her and the terrible fact that he had the power to save humanity and chose Ellie instead. We understand Joel's actions and the impossible choice he made, but we start to see Abby's point of view and her humanity as well. We see how the WLF are just traumatised ex-soldiers surviving, telling themselves that the "Scars" are sub-human to justify their own violence too. Then later we see Abby confronted with the humanity present in this group also, through her relationship with Lev and Yara. There are of course true psychos in all the human groups, especially amongst the Rattlers it would seem, but Abby has to come to terms with the fact that she has slaughtered dozens of ordinary people who were just trying to survive like her.

We humans clearly have a fascination with violence (I can't deny I had a lot of fun blowing people to kingdom come whilst playing this game) but in truth, we really don't have much of a stomach for the reality of it. As with any war, we're sold violence by being told that the nasty foreign man on the other end of the gun is worth less than us. When we're faced with the enemy's humanity, we see ourselves and then violence doesn't come half as easily. Some choose to acknowledge this and bear the horror instead of the cognitive dissonance, some continue to lie to themselves to feel ok, but we all respond in some way. The incredibly detailed and nuanced facial animations in this game, and the fact that you literally embody both sides of the fight, conveys the emotions brought about by the inner conflict that violence creates more powerfully than any movie with the same subject matter that I can think of. It's truly next level stuff.

So to those who are giving this game 0 out of 10, grow up and learn to appreciate true craft. If you want the first game, play the first game. If you want a boring rehash, play Call of Duty 58. If you're upset that Ellie's in love with a woman and there's an Asian trans character, snap out of it and realise that only seems strange to you because 99.9% of movies, TV shows and games have featured straight white people exclusively since time immemorial. The lack of self-awareness of people who think these elements are shoe horned in to be "woke" staggers me. And hey, there's still plenty of people in the game just like you to make you feel all special again!

Finally, to the people sending death threats to the voice actor (and even the face and body double!) of Abby, words cannot express how much of a **** you really are. To those lowlifes I somewhat ironically say "May your survival be short and your death be protracted." (Sorry, just doing a little bit of dehumanising of my own to justify my violent words there).

Anyway, it was an honour to play this game, I suggest you do too.

The story is dark, hard, and quite brutal on an emotional and physical level, with emotionally moving and tender moments. The game wisely and consistently continues the ending of the first game, further characterizes the protagonists and even takes the time to humanize and emotionalize the antagonists, so that we also cheer with them. Telling the story in different timelines gives the story more complexity and cleverly fills the gaps between part 1 and 2. The end is open in the tradition of part 1, which leaves us somewhat depressed, but as in part 1 as well with a little hope. Conclusion of the story: masterful, relentless, emotional The technical side is at least as impressive. Like "The Last of us", "The Last of us - Part II" is an unparalleled audiovisual experience, I missed the wonderfully melancholic music of the first part here, but the game is graphically and atmospherically a feast for the eyes. While you strolled through the melancholic post-apocalypse of North America from time to time in decelerated moments in the first game, you are literally overwhelmed by the thoroughly depressing atmosphere, soaked with sadness, anger and despair. The cold and dreary bluish cast, as well as the seeded colors always convey a feeling of threat, discomfort and despair. The graphics offer a cinematic experience in cutscenes and create an incredible level of realism in the game, especially in combination with the excellent motion capturing and the acting. The game sometimes offers certain moments when there is an epic visually that is not only unusual for both games, but is generally comparable to nothing that I have seen in the medium so far. Images that completely say goodbye to the melancholy in part 1 and drift off into the realm of the doomsday scene. The gameplay is basically the same as in the predecessor, of course has been expanded a bit, but is just as in part 1 excellent, exciting, stressful, clever survival action. Conclusion on the technical side: Just like part 1, this game will inspire us even in 10 years. General conclusion: "The Last of us Part II" is an unquestionable masterpiece at every level, on which one can evaluate a game. The successor shows once again the greatest strength of the series, the story-telling, while the story in part 1 was quite simple, which was offset by the excellent story-telling, the story could not be more complex, complex and emotional. We are always offered exciting gameplay, supported by overwhelming graphics, great sound, etc. Of course, the story provides material for discussion, but it will be continued consistently and logically with regard to the end of part 1. I think that's what it means that every decision has consequences and that even when the world ends, we are still human beings and everyone has a story, emotions, fears, hopes and is ready to fight for what is important to him. Ellie and Abby are only 2 sides of the same coin. Still, despite all the harshness, brutality, and mercilessness, the game does something that other games just don't. It takes time for calm, tender, soulful moments, moments that seem trivial, dialogues, moments in which the characters are characterized and humanized. I could go on forever, but I'm just getting to the final conclusion: it's a wonderful but hard masterpiece, the story is brilliant, I can only say it's the best game I've ever played, my absolute favorite. Story wise, it was a bit too focused on the romance side of things - it's not really something that you want from a survival horror game. but I didn't really feel like it was being jammed down my throat.

I thought it was interesting though the way that you can see both sides perspective of things, that as ellie it seems as a justified act in her eyes - the only way she could live with it after certain events happened - and then seeing from abby's point of view. It touches on how people deal with traumatic events, and how a need for revenge can twist you in to something you never thought you could be. Personally I could sympathise with both sides, which I think is a sign of well written characters, like how nobody could tell who was the main character for several seasons of game of thrones. I think that the writing is not as bad as it's made out to be at all.

I don't see what all the fuss is about with abby being built like a bloke, if they made a big deal out of it during the game it would bother me, but it's literally only ever mentioned at the end of the game and that is just to describe her to someone. it's completely irrelevant practically to the storyline, other than the fact she is physically strong and it affects how you use her ingame.

Joel is old, I mean. was it really that surprising?

Gameplay wise, I think they have made a lot of very good changes compared to the first. they've given you a lot more stealth variety and tactics you can use which which personally I love. Like for instance you can dive in to tall grass, and the AI of the mobs has improved a lot in that you have more chances to escape if you mess up. Ability to craft arrows and silencers is fantastic The pipe bomb mechanics are great, in that you can bounce the bombs from the walls, giving you a very satisfying way to kill that annoying guy hiding behind a corner.

Exploding arrows! I don't think I really need to say much more there.

The melee combat is also much improved, with the game actually giving you ways to evade attacks and be more tactical about how you can kill mobs. this is particularly great if you're low on ammo and there is only 1 or 2 infected. I think you could potentially go through most of the game barely ever using guns apart from bosses. I think it's very cool how they give you that option.

The crafting and steroid/power up mechanics in the game feels much more interesting, the options didn't feel as much of a clean cut choice as in the first, and you had more options to cater the weapon to your style of play during the initial playthough, which I think is cool. For instance focusing on weapon stability if you suck at aiming like me, or just raw damage - or scopes if you see yourself as more of a sniper.

the new infected mobs are great, I think the added variety of the mutations has really added a lot to the combat and made you adjust how you approach different situations and how you save, for example, a loaded shotgun in case a pack of stalkers pop out of nowhere, or a couple of molotov's in case you get some of the big nasties. the rat king battle in particular was great, oodles of fun with a flamethrower..

overall I highly recommend this game if you liked the first, but I'd recommend going in to it with an open mind and make up your own opinions about it. It's worth the chance in my opinion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here I leave the reflection I had about TLOU2.

In Ellie's diary, in all the drawings she makes of Joel during the game she never drew his eyes, because the only memory that comes to mind when remembering him, is the look and the sad face he started to carry after the distance that the two started to have for Ellie having discovered what really happened in that hospital in the first game and saying that she would never be able to forgive him, despite being willing to try.

And she felt so guilty for that, of not having forgiven him in time and saying how much she loved him and how important he was to her, that she was blinded by revenge just as Abby was in killing Joel.

Before Abby met Ellie at the theater, we can see through a note that she writes in her diary, that she no longer knows why she chose to go on that journey, if she was still doing all that to avenge Joel's death or if the reason would be another (guilt)... She even hints that Joel would not support her decision to leave Jackson, as he always puts those he loves first.

And, unfortunately, Ellie had to abandon everything she had and lose all the people she loved to understand that all that cycle of hatred, violence and revenge would not lead them to anything, because regardless of what they do, even if she killed Abby, nothing would bring him back and nothing would be able to numb the pain in a way that would make it easy.

Most people hated the game because it has a bitter ending, but this is always the consequence of revenge.

We felt all the pain that the search for revenge caused for Ellie added to the feeling of mourning for Joel death.

This game is a masterpiece and shows us how much we should love and forgive those who are with us while there is still time and that is why it hurts so much and so many people hated it, because death does not announce its arrival, Joel died unexpectedly in a ridiculous way as we are all subject every day (and they mainly due to the context of an apocalypse).

Abby in search of revenge and for all her selfishness lost Owen, Mel, Danny, Yara and all of her other friends, in addition to her tribe (the wolves).

Ellie in search of Abby, also for revenge, lost Joel, Jesse, Tommy, Dina, JJ ... Some died and others left her ... But she lost what else had sentimental value to her, her ability to play guitar, the only connection she still had with Joel.

BOTH lost many important people during their journeys, who would still be alive if they had not chosen the path of hatred and selfishness.

So the phrase that defines this game is:

"Before going out for revenge, dig two pits. Revenge is sweet, but for the bee costs its life."

Another reflection, besides that revenge is not a worthwhile path to follow is that every coin has two sides and playing with Abby throughout the other half of the game we can understand this and understand her motivations so that she felt such a need to get revenge.

We went into her history and we can understand everything that Joel took from her, because he was also selfish in that hospital to make a real slaughter leaving a huge trail of blood and killing innocent people in horrible ways just to save Ellie.

In this game there are no dichotomies, as we see that each character is the hero of their own story, but if we analyze it broadly, there is no right and wrong, just like every war there are no villains, only two sides fighting for what they think the truth is.

Anyway, The Last Of Us 2 is an incredible game that brings us endless reflections and it's okay not to like it, but all those who are giving it free hate comments, are dumb people who didn't take even a second of their lives to stop and reflect on history and in the game proposal!

This game, in its proposal, was created to be realistic, not only in graphics and gameplay, but in content and history. And life rarely has happy endings. Life is also about loss, pain, hate... not just "lived happy ever after"... TLOU2 is there to make us feel this whole roller coaster of feelings... That's why it's amazing, because it's very difficult for a game, with fictional characters, to make you feel something in a personal way as I felt. That's why he is incredible. For the ability to touch people.

Absolute beast of a game. Love it totally. The beauty of the game is the way the story goes that draws the player into the exact same feeling of the characters and start to question on the notion of revenge, anger, violence and sadness. No other games I played has been able to involved such feelings and reaction. The gameplay and graphics and the whole experience is GOTY to me.

Fantastic game, and a testament to great story telling. All the low reviews focus on what happens in the first hour of gameplay. If you wanted a happy story, go play uncharted. If you want something real, then buckle the f@$& up, because it won't hit any harder than this. The last of us is an emotional bulldozer of a series. The scenery is vast and jaw dropping. The voice acting is out of this world. The story is alluring, it grabs you and never lets go. The last of us part 2 is a gripping tale of tragedy, loss, and the survival of both physical and emotional trauma. If you can't handle that suspense, don't play. It's simple. If you're looking for a game that will make you question your every action, sit back and question the very thin line of morality, then this is very much up your alley. If your attachments to characters from the first game keep you from enjoying the last of us part 2, please realize there problem isn't the game, it's you. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have read many reviews after playing the game, and this one contemplates what I have felt. It went something like this: Death usually has no meaning, most of us won't die in any meaningful way, it comes out of nowhere and we are left desperate trying to deal with the loss of a loved one. I believe that the game making us feel this certain way is the main reason I am saying this is a masterpiece. I don't believe a game has ever invoked such a feeling ipon the players, and that is why I believe this is one of the best games ever. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In my Opinion a story game needs to be able to trigger feeling to be of high value, same with movies. Part 1 was able to do it and part 2 is at least as good as part 1 in doing it (in my opinion). The plot of Part 2 is almost completely filled with sad events whats probably one cause why people are upset about the game. Especially Ellie gets confronted with these events and the end of the game gives no relieve (No Happy End). Additionally there is a second character the player gets to play that is completely new to the last of us and was never seen in part 1. But in the end the game tells a beautiful story and shows the actions of Ellie and Joel out of a completely new perspective. Expand

This game has made me feel things that no game has ever made me feel before. The story dragged me in and its emotional impact still lingers after having finished it over a week ago, what a ride.

It is however not a perfect game. In my opinion the game is a bit too long. Not because of the story, but because of the gameplay. The gameplay hasn't changed too much from the first game and while the fighting sequences (which gameplay-wise have received the biggest upgrade compared to the first game) are an absolute blast, the mechanics of finding supplies, upgrading your weapons and your character are dated and get old quite quickly, I was done with these things about halfway through the game. You will find yourself going through each room, opening each drawer, each locker to find supplies or pills. These are currencies which you spend in order to upgrade your load-out or skills or craft weapons. The skill tree doesn't make much sense and the weapon upgrades are unexciting too. Half of the time I didn't know what to upgrade and wasn't really excited to upgrade a weapon. I wish they had innovated more in these aspects of the game as that would have lifted the experience to a higher level again.

My main point of criticism out of the way, the graphics, animation and visuals are absolutely amazing and all combined are probably the best I have ever seen in a game. The sound is equally great, the music excellent. The acting and the way characters are made alive blew my mind over and over. I just cannot get over how great all these aspects of the game are.

In conclusion: While all other aspects of the game are pretty much a 10/10, for me it is somewhat lacking in gameplay which unfortunately lowers my score for the game a bit. All in all this game is a masterfully crafted piece of art and one that will be in my mind for a long time to come. I'm incredibly thankful for everyone involved to have made this game, for me it has been an unforgettable experience.

The Last of Us Part 2 justifies why it is called “part 2” instead of just “2”, since it is a direct sequel to the story of the first game. Each event of the previous one has consequences over the story, which truly makes the player think over about dilemas regarding the morality of the characters that reflects some other dilemas that we have in the real world. It is an experience that I have never seen in any other game, as unique as the first “The Last of Us” was in its time. Indeed, it is a dark game, with a heavy atmosphere (way more than part 1), that makes you have tons of contradictory emotions and experiences through your gameplay, which may be one of the reasons that some people don’t enjoy it — but that contrast is exactly what makes it so special and beautiful. Only by playing it you will get to understand what I mean, but bear in mind you have to be ready for it. And for those who do not have the opportunity to play, you can also get a good view of it by watching a full gameplay walkthrough on YouTube (I repeat, it has to be an ENTIRE walkthrough, not just the main cutscenes to get to know the plot “in general”), although some parts can be a little monotonous for those who are watching, like searching for resources (which again, contributes a lot to give the player a full experience both in part 1 and 2). In the end, Naughty Dog once again provide us with a true work of art, and despite you may or may not prefer the first game, it is inarguably great and worth playing. Expand

Joguem, e aproveitem!! Expand

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
