Every thing is really good . About story , it could be better but the writer used a diffrent method of telling the story and that when you finish the game make you love it or hate it . I loved that cuz it show us a halfway story in the first and countinue it to complate it in the end in a new and maybe a nice method . But the destiny of some chracters maybe not good for every but it is what happend in a fully vengeans way and its what the writer want .

What 7 years of elaboration just so that we did not like it? Of course not, those are ill-intentioned comments, I consider that it is one of the best games in history, I would say that the best but I want to be neutral, there will be people who do not like it so much due to the topics they touch and why they want everything It is perfect as in cheap novels, this is a game that wants to show another perspective, it will leave you an opinion and it will surely be very different from each person who plays it, I wish that many more games are like this, that they play with the player and create that feeling of playing with your emotions, I regularly do not give reviews even if I like games, but I felt the need to tell you my experience, I am sure it will be game of the year, in addition to practically dismissing this generation with a masterpiece, the important thing is that you in the end you will enjoy this game and want to share what you felt, just play and enjoy. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, where to begin? I want to start off with my positives, because they are important. For me, this game is a technical masterpiece. The mechanics, graphics, character MoCap, and scripting is fantastic. As with the first game part II is a joy to play, mechanically. I want to stress that this is no way a "Trolling/Bomb review" because I'm not satisfied, this is legitimately how I feel about the game, I've just finished playing and am a huge fan of naughty dog and The Last Of Us. And I really can't say enough good things about the technical presentation of this game.
I'll cut to the chase, as I know a big focus right now of the divisiveness nature of this game is from industry supporters and people who enjoyed the game trying to de-legitimize negative reviews and that is not fair.
On the whole I'm left significantly disappointed with how TLOU2 played out as a story. For me the issue is not solely with the events that transpired but more specifically the sequence of those events. Broadly speaking it felt as if Naughty Dog and the writers of this story have grown tired of their creation. Killing Joel felt like a rush to "shoot their shot" and make the big kill. I can't say I was surprised by their decision to kill Joel but I was surprised by the manner and timing of that killing. I feel that killing Joel, although not at all necessary was done for dramatic effect, a la HBO, fine, if you want to do that at least give him the respect of exposition within the story prior to busting his head in. He is, after all responsible in part for the runaway success of Part one. And having his death play out later in the game with more story ambiguity leading up to it could have really played out far better.
Abby. My detest for this character knows no bounds. To me Abby seems like she was a "pet project" of a senior writer, director, executive of the game and because of that got to play out as a main character of the game. Following her brutal actions against Joel we are forced to play almost half the game as her! This makes no sense to me and the desire of the writers to have the fans fall in love with her is transparent and cheap. This is a character who's story did not deserve to be told. She is wholly uninteresting and brings nothing of an identity with her, other than "angry thug", she is the boring blonde doctors daughter. Her story is shallow and her development is flat and forced upon us. Why would we, the player, want to command this character to success after they have brutally murdered 50% of our core lineup? I was not invested in her or in her victory. My enjoyment of the game fell off a cliff as soon as we are forced to take control of her. I really stopped engaging with the environment as much, her supporting cast are equally bland and don't provide much in terms of meaningful conversation, even the chatty banter between Abby and her comrades is thin and I can't remember a single engagement between any of them and I only just finished the game. Further trying to force emotional investment came with the zebra scene. This was thrown in purely to build a crappy picture of "oh look how caring her father was, he was tormented by the thought of killing Ellie for scientific advancement because he is a caring human being, look he saved a zebra". This wouldn't have mattered at all in a shallow action game but TLOU1 gave us a storytelling method of a much higher standard and I feel it's ok to expect that in a sequel.
Ultimately it feels like too many stories are being told here. And none of them well. Ellie has become an emotional punching bag with no pay off. Again, I was not expecting or wanting endless fan service, that does not a good game make. But I expected a conclusive direction. Ellie had nothing but a met loss throughout the game with now pay off whatsoever.
Don't abandon your creations, Naughty Dog. Even the title menu image before and after completion are a focused nod to Abby, not Ellie. Abbey is an awful character and should not have been given so much e deserved screen time. Had Abbey been pitched as a main protagonist in a different game I don't believe that game would ever get greenlit.

Final word: Ellie and Joel worked so well in the first game because they were written as a duo. They were not the result of a character mashup or crossover episode, they were written for each other. Killing Joel so early on to provide the vague driver of "vengeance" was weak, kill him if it serves the story, by all means. But don't kill him for hollow dramatic effect. And when you do wrap your story up, leave our protagonist with some semblance of gain not merely loss.

Oh and don't make this a trilogy, you've killed your IP, leave it dead...

Why are producers doing these terrors against their fans? This is a game with a feeling of inferiority to the movie. Naughty Dog's cinematic game should have ended in Uncharted 2.
Other producers shouldn't imitate and critics who gave high scores do not give convincing explanations.

Soundtrack as only the The Last of Us can deliver.
A polished gameplay of the first part.
Characters who show infinite counterparts and facets of their personality.
A story full of revenge and resentment.
    Great character development.
The only thing that I disliked of this game was that it wasn´t necessary at all. The first game delivered a story contained on itself.
But I think that its a nice and worth sequel that leads to many emotions to the player such as anger, sadness, joy and despair.
I totally loved it and I hate it to have those low grades of people that haven´t played it at all.
The only thing that comforts me is the thought that public isn´t ready yet to such powerful and intense story which in a future I think will be far more appreciated,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I made an account just to write a review for this game omfg. First I’ll say what I liked. Awesome graphic. Very beauty setting. Awesome horsey. Now the bad. I played this game hoping for Ellie and Joel’s relationship to grow and for them to finally discuss the firefly stuff and naughty dog ruined it. Like obviously the game is set in a terrible post apocalyptic world with zombie like enemies so **** will always go down. But no one asked for these random ass characters from Seattle to come in? Literally no one asked for Abby? We wanted a growth story with Joel and Ellie not some bull**** story about revenge that has been told 90 million times already??? The whole game is stressful and made me cry the whole time? Like I get that it’s supposed to be an emotional tough world but the happy moments in the previous game were what made it so good. The last of us part 2 just is one terrible thing after another with no choice but to sit through it with the only good parts being the flashbacks with Joel. Idk naughty dog really trashed this story and characters. It’s just really sad. Like I know it’s a game but I felt like we all looked up to Joel because we felt the hurt when he lost his own daughter. Just to **** kill him when he’s become like a dad to another? Terrible writing. Like my own dad died two years ago and seeing Joel die is like reliving that memory so thank you naughtydog for that. Joel and Ellie deserved a better story where the enemies were just zombies and actual bad guys. Stop trying to make stories about revenge and stop making zombie apocalypse stories without emphasis on the actual zombies? It’s like his game was trying to be the walking dead tv series and we all know that went to shut the second it became more about enemy humans rather than enemy zombies.. Anyway the gameplay is good but everything else sucked Expand

one of the main sole problems is the secondary character, Abby. apparently when you finish the first half of the game as Ellie THEN you can play as the killer of the original protagonist Joel miller for the second half.it seems with the whole narrative playout that we the gamers should go with the flow

I'm media purist, I stay far away from the internet (reddit) leading up to launches of games/movies I have been waiting for for several years. I didn't read any of the leaks that dropped prior and experienced this game pure.

The Last Of Us was nearly a life changing experience, it stands seven years later as the game that has stuck with me the longest and in the most positive way.

I'm still in disbelief over the dumpster fire this sequel turned out to be. I genuinely hated every minute of playing through the last half of the game. I just wanted it to be over. I made myself keep playing hoping against reality that it would come together eventually. It did not. I finished it two days prior to this writing and I'm still a little emotionally numb and disappointed over the whole experience. My only regret is that I bought digital and that I can't trade it in.

Outside of the terrible story and atomic bomb story structure, many of the chapters seemed to drag on far longer than necessary. There are far too many incredibly predictable encounters and cut-scenes. Overall the game became extremely repetitive and hard to play through. A far cry from the original.

Graphically the game is stunning for any console and the physics are the best I've seen in game.

The 'critic' reviews on this site must have played an alternate version of this game, or perhaps didn't play it at all.

Do yourself a favor, if you cherish the story of Joel and Ellie, stay far away from The Last Of Us Part II.

One trailer showed Abby, which no one ever would’ve guessed she was going to be a playable character and would be a nuisance to the entire game. I bought the game and played it with an open mind, not with a “closed” one according to Neil cuckmens little remark. I was of course under the impression Joel would join Ellie as the companion this time as you play as Ellie because of said trailers. Of course 2 hours in you’re swapping between both Ellie and Abby. Which was already starting to become a stupid idea. A brand new character that we know nothing about is playable within the first hour. I didn’t think much of it until 2 hours in. Abby kills Joel and doesn’t show the reason why at all. After his death I didn’t feel sad in the slightest. I felt annoyed at the fact Joel doesn’t even appear in the game unless it’s flashbacks, which is stupid. Instead of making Ellie’s story so mixed up and just making her have flashbacks with memories of Joel and having to go back and forward with Abby and Ellie, why couldn’t be start the game off arriving at Jackson with Ellie? It would’ve made the game a lot better, it would’ve given Joel a lot more time to be in the game, and it would’ve actually gotten a way better score. Finish the game with Ellie’s story and unlock abbys after, or make a dlc for abbys side of the story. But no, we get to play 10-12 hours with someone we already don’t like, that we have to learn why they had to end Joel and naughty dog really think ya we’d be attached to characters with no kind of development behind them. We have your average Mexican character that is forced to have an accent which is really generic and pretty racist because believe it or not, not every Hispanic has an accent after years of living in the US, then we have the generic love triangle, not to mention on both sides of the story, both Ellie and Abby are in one. No one hates the game because Ellie is gay, everyone who played the first knows that she’s into girls, I love Ellie for the character development. That’s the reason everyone felt close to both of these characters both Ellie and Joel, because of the journey they took together. No one cares about a group of people who you learn about in under 12 hours. The last of us took me far longer to beat than part 2, this game was complete **** because of how lazy naughty was and how much they could’ve done and added but didn’t because Neil has his head too far up his ass to even make the characters have common sense. Last time I checked Joel did not trust a stranger, like the “hurt” hunter from the first game. Since when did he go so soft? The fact that we know so little about both Jesse and Dina and they want us to feel any kind of bond with them. I saw Jesse getting his face blown off and literally wasn’t fazed by it that’s how **** the development was, we knew nothing about Jesse. Just that him and Dina dated and he was friends with Ellie. Unlike Sam and henry from the first, you actually knew they were by themselves and you saw how much Henry did for his little brother. And in the end Sam turns and Henry kills himself. What did we know at all about Owen and Mel other than they were going to have a baby? What did we know about any other one of abbys friends other than they were her friends? How do they expect us to like them when we don’t even know anything about them and we already killed them before we learned what they were like, and it’s not like we were given an actual choice like a TellTales game. This games mechanics are like the first but with minor upgrades, which for me isn’t a problem, I got this game wanting a story close to the 1st but since the first trailer I knew it was unlikely but I was expecting to play as Ellie and only as Ellie but we couldn’t even get that. AND NO I DONT LIKE THE GAME BECAUSE IM A “homophobe” or “transphobic” or because I’m playing with a lesbian female. I hate the game because the way they organized the story and the fact we were forced to swap with a completely new character that I hated within the first 2 hours. Flashbacks should’ve been played first so they wouldn’t be flashbacks, literally they were so **** pointless, Ellie just goes through something the screen goes dark and literally what just happened to her does not relate at all to her flashbacks of Joel. I hope naughty dog learns from this. And if they plan on making a 3rd they shouldn’t use Ellie anymore because they’ll only make another crap story Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am truly disgusted by the last of us 2, not because Ellie is a part of the LGBT or any other nonsense. It's because of how sony published the trailer with Joel in it and saying "You think I'd let you do this on your OWN?" this game just scammed me. I stayed away from the spoilers and I thought it will be the best game I will ever play. But like 1 hour and 30 minutes into the game and Joel died. I felt sad and mad. Especially at Abby so well done Naughty dog for that but just why? Why Joel so goddamn fast? I didn't wait 7 years just some buffed ugly hoe to kill my favourite character and the main character of the last of us. But I didn't stop playing and went into Seattle to get revenge. Many people like jacksepticeye said it isn't worth it. But me and most of the community plus Pewdiepie we wanted revenge so badly. So good job Naughty dog for that one too, you actually made me play the game just so I get revenge on Abby. Guess what? You first have to kill most of her friends just to get to her. It still didn't made me soft on Abby. So fast fowarding a bit when you kill mel which is pregnent. You get home to the cinema and have a good day with Jesse and Tommy. I was actually kind of happy because they reuinited but still in shock that Ellie just killed a pregnent lady. I mean self-defence but still. Tommy then goes outside of the room and then gets down on the floor. You hear something in the other room and you fastly try to run to the door to check what's happening. You immediately go inside and Jesse gets shot into the head. And see Abby that **** **** hurting Tommy. She says throw your gun away while pointing at Tommy. After that, she points at you looking like she killed Ellie. So you get furious that she killed Jesse and might actually even killed Ellie, so another point for Naughty because they wanted you to feel that way. Then -10000 points for Naughy because it's making you play as **** Abby for 10 hours. At this part, I was so unbothered but I still went into the adventure. Just to empathize for Abby and see Ellie is actually the bad guy. Basically she justs saves a Zebra and some scars members because apparently the other one was trans and cut her hair off but it was against the rules for women to cut their own hair off but whatever. They actually save you first but then you save them after like a day of **** WITH OWEN. Like what in the actual **** I ain't watching some women getting ****ed while having pecs. Jk. Anyways she saves them blah blah blah. and Yara one of the sisters that Abby saved had her arm destroyed by some buff guy from the scars. So you try to help them and give them a secure safe home with Owen and Mel. You find out that you have to chop her arm off or she will get sick and probably die but you don't have the right tools so you have to travel to the hotel on some bridges built by the scars which were pretty cool. Then they find out that you escaped trying to find Owen because he killed a friend of yours and his. But apparently you weren't allowed by Issac. So you get locked up but a friend of yours which is still alive decides to release you. The worst part is you have to go into the zone where the first of the first people got the virus. So obviously there will be a part of the infection you never have seen before. A giant zombie boss that has been composed of multiple infected. Honestly scary to see in real life but in a video game for me personally it was actually cool looking. You kill it and honestly. Best part of the game over there. You get back to Lev and go back. She got her arm removed and it was nice for a while but then Lev wanted to go back on the island that the scars took over, where their mother was. So you must follow her, but at the same time, the WLF is attacking. Lev kills the mother because the mother was 100% crazy and didn't agree with Lev. After you get Lev Issac comes out of nowhere and just kills Yara, obviously Lev was sad but had to go on. You escape the island and go back to the home where Mel got killed and Owen, You find a map of where Ellie is located and confront her. Then YOU **** HAVE TO FIGHT WITH ELLIE. LIKE SERIOUSLY, this part made me so mad. And she even actually **** wins but lets Ellie alive. So after like 1 year, I think it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Dina's baby is born and you have a cute house in the countryside. Then Tommy comes and tells you about Abby and Lev which made me mad that even Tommy asked Ellie that such a thing when she even had a family. Dina shuts him off and he leaves. So while sleeping you get nightmares of Joel. She decides to go to kill Abby which I actually kind of understand. She had nightmares of Joel and to be honest what would you do in the same situation just keep on living having nightmares of your "dad" or make justice for him. Obvs I was kind of happy but for Ellie not really, she had a family. Abby was looking for the fireflies. But got captured and Ellie asked to fight and not just shoot her. 5000Max Expand

I braced myself for a horrible travesty of a game after reading the negative reactions but this game delivered everytime I turned around. The story and pacing for me were excellent.! Ellie was written perfectly and when here quest for revenge starts to eat away at her you feel it. Somewhere along the line she starts to think what am I becoming and you can tell it she is turning into someone she doesn't like. And,playing as Abby is just as powerful someone you want to hate but you're forced to see she is just a person just like Ellie who went through with her quest for revenge and learns that it wasn't worth it and didn't change anything for her. Two sides of the same coin that show revenge is never the answer especially in a world where the ultimate fight is to try to hold on to their humanity. It's not easy but sometimes the fight to stay human is the hardest one of all and this game illustrates that point perfectly! Excellent lesson for the times we live in today! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even if the story isn´t the way we expected after watching the trailers or replaying the incredible first part, The Last of Us Part II is an amazing game. The graphics, details, facial expressions and just everything is very polished. Even if the gameplay is very similar to the first one, the improvements on the AI makes it a different and more interesting challenge. As I´ve seen, the story, the decision of making almost half of the game to be played as Abby and the ending are the most disliked parts by players. But I really don´t think those decisions are bad, they make you experience the game from a new perspective to show you that there is no villain or hero in this world, just people trying to survive and hoping their loved ones survive as well.
My only "complaint" would be that I think Abby´s part sometimes felt a little dragged and some of the characters in her side of the story weren´t really memorable, but nothing too bad or excessive, I think the ending was justified and a good way to end this story, even if it clearly isn´t a happy ending or anything close to it, since Ellie´s ending is absolutely hearth-breaking.
This game was truly an emotional rollercoaster, filled with amazing and emotional moments that will be in my mind for a long time, as this just became one of my favorite games of all time.

Naughty dog really didn´t lie when they said that some players would love the game and other would hate it. I guess the best way to find out i trying it out for yourself ad making your own opinion about it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Metacritc removed my review on my old account because of its "content" and I suspect they've been using that excuse to remove a lot of other negative reviews because this game does not deserve a 4.9. Metacritic, do not remove my review again. Ive heard a lot of people saying "This game doesn't deserve a 10/10 but it definitely doesn't desrve a 0/10" fs Naughty Dog flat out lied to you during the marketing for the game, they abused their staff to the point of hospitalisation and they issued false copyright claims on youtube channels who merely discussed the leaks, which is illegal btw. So yeah, as far as i am concerned this game has truely earned its 0 out of 10
For the record, i went into this game with an open mind and did not look at the leaks as i was hyped for the game. I completed the game from start to finish and so did everyone who are giving this game the **** reviews it deserves and anyone saying people are giving this game the terrible reviews it deserves because they are homophobic then they definitely didnt play the first game. Because guess what? Ellie is still gay in that game but everyone still loves her beacuse being gay is her sexuality not her personality unlike in this terrible game. Some of the "good" points about this game that keep coming up are its graphics and gameplay. Like i mentioned Naughty Dog abused their staff for years and drove them to quit or end up in hospital. This abuse was the catalyst for the leaks and anyone thinking that some how hackers caused the leaks are **** stupid. So yeah, if you work your staff 24 hours a day then the graphics have to be good fs. The gameplay is the exact same as TLOU apart from a **** rope and jump button and the mainstream gaming media were sucking them new features off, like fs its a jump and rope addition its not that **** great

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well. This game was a lot to digest. What an emotional rollercoaster it was. There are so many elements which make it **** awesome. The story is very well written and the flashback which explain so much about part 1 are so good to watch, after all these questions you get after part 1. It was good to know that Joel finally told Ellie the truth, as painful as it was. It was tough to watch her struggle about this. The character development of Ellie is made so well. To me it shows she is having many flaws. She needs to get revenge, even after she is spared by Abby twice, she keeps going back. It is something so stupid, but it shows about her character, how much pain she has from Joels death.
Something else I really liked was the fact you first hate Abby, but then you gain more sympathy from her, after playing her part. This is something I didn't see in many games, only in Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, as I can remember now. It gives a very interesting twist to the good/bad side of a game.
The character of Joel is also very well written. He has a lot of internal struggles, especially his love for ellie which even made him betray her. It is tough to see, but it really explains why he does what he does. He cares for her so much, he tries to make her have a great life, teach her guitar and all that. She is his ''new'' daughter and he doesnt want to lose one again. The only thing I don't get is why he trusted Abby, a complete stranger.

What I also liked a lot was the intensity in some battles. Some get pretty tough and the feeling to be trapped with only 3 bullets and one bottle is quite terrifying. Especially when you are in a dark area with only infected, who are running **** fast. THe part that reaaaally gave me the creeps was abby in the basement of the hospital. It was really horrific, but I loved it so much. And all of the weapons you can use, of which the most brutal ones were definitely the pipe bombs, the trap mines and the flamethrower (so glad it returned).

About the battles: I feel there were not as much intense battles as in part 1, since the pacing in the game is quite slow. For me, there could have been some more. However, the pacing is very important. It creates a lot of depth in the story, and it puts all the pieces of the puzzle together. I reaaally love the moment when Ellie and Joel are in the history museum. I also was blown away by the liveliness of the stadium were Abby and her group lives. And the part very high up in the sky with all the bridges, **** wonderful
Now I am touching to another part I **** loved. The graphics and the entire atmosphere. I kept getting surprised and blown away by the tremendous detail of anything and everything. Sometimes it is only small things, a gesture, someone making a small comment, the anxiety, fear or anger in the characters face and body language. I loved the fact how much despair and anger there was in ellies face. Theres not much happiness in her, but this is not strange if you look at what happened to her.

Some things that I didnt like: sometimes you are walking around for ages trying to figure out what you have to do. It is kind of frustrating. However, it could also be just me. Some battles are designed kind of poorly, for example the one with the sniper, it is so easy to get hit and there not that much fun in playing this battle, since the best way is to stay in the back all the time. Some melee combats with these ''smart'' infected, as well as the combats between ellie and abby are very unsatifying and somewhat frustrating. THe only skill you learn is how to press the right buttons at the right time, instead of having a proper battle. What put me off as well is the repetition and somewhat unbelievabilty of the story. There is really not a lot of variation in the battles. And revenge as the primary motif in this game gets kind of hard to believe. People risking their lifes over and over again to kill 1 person. And Abby saving some strangers and even risking her life to get medical supplies in the darkest place of a hospital gets kind of unbelievable as well. Even more that she betrays her whole faction which is suicide anyway. I just don get it. The only valid reason for her to break the rules is to rescue her boyfriend. But thats all. The environment and the intense moments make up for this to some extent. But sometimes it really felt they only made you play a section because it is epic to play, rather than contributing to the story.

A final thing I loved a lot is the dark, depressing vibe in the whole game. Sure, I didnt like Joels death at all. But this whole world is **** up anyway. It is not a fairytale. The story is not made primarily for the player to play what is happy and satisfying for them. People die, people do **** up things, people get twisted minds and all that. But they keep going. That what I loved about part 1 and about part 2 as well.

All in all a game that gripped me from beginning to end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A divisive game for sure, but one that possibly deserves every bit emotion it generates. This is a story of vengeance and loss that affects not only the characters but the player themselves.

From the beginning we are presented with the hardest truth a fan of the first game must realize: Joel has been tortured and killed, viciously and unapologetically, in front of Ellie. The trauma from this event scars her, but it also scars us. We feel the anger and hatred because Joel was important to us. The first game cemented our connection, ND being amazing at what they do, and they use that to elicit the kind of emotions they want from you. In this case legitimately feeling revenge and hate was the point. To make you ACTUALLY feel. This game was designed to be terrible and sad and feeling these things proves that the developers succeeded in their goals.

Gameplay and mechanics are essentially a given at this point, again masters of their craft, so the story is the only thing left to even consider. The grief and hurt from these events are channeled into the game, pushing you to find Abby and make her pay for what she's done. Make some sense of the callous and quick nature of the murder of a beloved father figure. We want to make the pain go away. We need to deal with the grief.

But that grief is never resolved. Revenge never truly sated. The reality of the futility of the pursuit of vengeance crystallized in a way I've never seen before. It is an experience you don't often get to have and it's told in a way that respects and reinforces the connections made in the first game.

Play this yourself. Get angry. FEEL. And take in the beautiful tragedy. One of the most thought-provoking and visceral games I have EVER played. Thank you Naughty Dog, you bastards.

They watched the spoilers and got butt hurt that Joel died. And their homophobic lgbtq nonsense just adds to their lack of any kind of meaningful insight to the game. That being said, this game is amazing. If you loved the first game and fully understood its themes, you’ll love this game. It’s beautifully done. Not only the graphics, music and gameplay, but also the story. This game will make you truly “feel” what’s going on inside these characters. I was fully ready to hate Abby for what she did to Joel. But after completing this game, I grew to understand why she did what she did. And although I wish I still would’ve had the option to kill her, I understand why ND wrote the story in this way. Abby arguably lost more than Ellie ever did. Abbys story is essentially the same as Ellie’s, just from her own perspective. Joel deserved to die. If you truly believe that Ellie deserved vengeance, than you can’t logically think that Abby should’ve been denied hers. Abby spent 4 years training for her mission to find Joel, and it shows in her physique. Much like an MMA fighter. Again, my only regret is not getting the option to kill Abby. Although ND made me empathize with her, I’ll always be loyal first to Joel and Ellie. Expand

Firstly i just want to say that i’m a huge fan of the first game and have played that from initial release all the way up until release for this game. My (as well as many others) problem with this game is the story. I loved the gruesome gameplay, a few of the Memorable characters, and the next-gen level graphics but the story just doesn’t do it for me. There were so many more questions that were left unanswered from the first game, yet they only really touched on one. Which honestly seems more like a sub-plot when you sit back and view the story in it’s entirety. Most of the game just follows ellie and abby’s revenge trope but the theme of revenge isn’t some big profound idea, not saying that it’s imperative the devs made the theme something unheard of, or new but they could’ve atleast made it SEEM like they had the fans from the original in mind. The story is made to try and make you see both sides of what revenge can do and the game wants you to sympathize with abby, here’s the issue(s) with that. Abby is a psychopath, she was willing to kill the man that saved her life solely because of his first name and proceeds to kill said man in front of his brother and surrogate daughter. She sleeps with a pregnant woman's boyfriend, and i’ll also add that she basically got both of them killed when she decided to bring them to new jackson, all so she could kill one man. She would’ve killed a pregnant woman herself, i guess to “get even” and was only stopped once a 14 year old boy told her not to. Lastly she betrays her entire faction, which results with the leader of her community getting shot to death. Abby has saved lives though, with the 2 being lev and yara (she didn’t save yara per se more as so she bought her some time). Shes been shown to express genuine emotion at times e.g. grief, fear, concern, sadness, all of which makes her seem more realistic and in a way it made me actually like abby. To an extent. With that out of the way, lets talk about the god awful ending. Number one it doesn’t make sense that a flashback is what stops ellie from killing abby because we’ve had flashbacks with joel throughout most of the game, so why would a literal 2 second flashback of joel stop ellie from completing her goal at one of the most crucial moments. Ellie basically travelled across the world to get to her and just decides to let her go. Which brings me to my next point, with me knowing how ellie killed david in the first game, it doesn’t really seem like ellie to just not kill someone that tried to kill her. Especially because that person killed the one person that saved her, and cared for her like she was his own. Again, right in front of her. Abby was basically served on a platter for ellie but in the end ellie basically ends up saving her. Its assumed that abby and lev made it to their destination, because of the beached boat with a bright and sunny background which before was a floating boat with a dark and gloomy background. While ellie is left with nothing, since Dina left her, and she cant even play the guitar because abby bit off 2 of her fingers. We get a view from a window and see ellie walk into the wilderness so I’M assuming she’s heading to new jackson to where im guess dina went. Which gives ellie something to fight for, like joel said in the end of the first game. Which he said was crucial for survival. Tommy is divorced and crippled so there’s that. This is all speculation because realistically there would be no way dina could survive in a world like that with a child. Unless said child dies. It’s atleast nice to know that abby probably learned not to go killing random people just to get revenge. Unless she wants to end up emotionally broken because all of her friends and people she has loved or cared about have been decimated. In the end I felt emotionally drained and ended up not caring for ellie, or anybody else that i either once did care about or took interest in. Except Bill, he has a small cameo in the game and he’ll always hold a place in my hear. Anyway the devs really made sure to destroy something that alot of people once cared deeply about. I’m gonna keep playing the game tho because the gameplay is **** immaculate Expand

Look, I’m not gonna beat around the bush and give you some mealy mouthed critique. Everything from the plot and story structure to the gameplay and world are absolutely masterfully intertwined. The more you dig into this title the more and more depth complexity and thought to every single detail and decision you’ll find. It may well be what no one expects wants or even excepts. But it is every ounce the narrative and character masterpiece of its predecessor.
This is the next chapter of the story. This is what happens. Quite possibly the unabashed unapologetic end. For better and for worse. Love it or hate it.
As they say in game, “You can’t stop this.”

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Upon finishing this game, I just felt a deep sense of disappointment. There was no lesson to be learned, there was no happiness to be attained, and the player isn't really left with any hope for the future of Ellie.

Being forced to play half the game as Abby who I had nothing but disdain for while the narrative clumsily tried to make me empathize with her was more annoying and frustrating than anything and made me walk away from the game a few times.

The whole theme of 'Revenge is bad!' is pretty clear, especially considering that the narrative feels the need to beat the player over the head with it constantly throughout the game, which is bothersome but also completely unnecessary considering we already know that, even though Abby gets her revenge and seems quite happy with it considering she never shows any kind of remorse, while Ellie who randomly decides to 'take the higher road' at the very end ends up having lost everyone she cares about, ends up with a permanently disfigured hand, and ends up alone (which she mentioned in the first game is her worst fear in the world).

Gameplay-wise, the game is at least mostly solid. There are a few basic formulaic puzzles that could probably do with some more variety, and the gunplay is clunky and inaccurate, but the character upgrades and gadgets are solid and can lead to some interesting tactics. The environments are also beautiful.

When it comes down to it though, The Last of US is a story-centric game, and Part II severely falls short compared to the original. The game didn't 'subvert expectations' it just punished the player and the characters and then left them with nothing but disappointment. That isn't brave or poetic storytelling, it's just bad.

Putting Joel in trailers in scenes where he isn't actually there or changing his and Ellies ages in the trailers isn't keeping players guessing or being mysterious, it's lying and it's false advertisement. It's tricking people into spending money on a game that the trailers have told them is one thing when it clearly isn't.

I really hope there isn't a Part III because based upon the end it looks like they'd try to force Abby and Lev on us as a Joel and Ellie replacement and as much as I liked Lev, I have no interest in that whatsoever.

See...The gameplay is a masterpiece but the story is **** & if you're marketing a game as a story-driven one...you need to deliver your peak performance in that one but this is just Lazy writing to elicit some kind of emotional response from the player...it just feels cheap & the Abby part of the game is real long & feels forced...instead of rooting for her..i just wanted to get this over with but the climax was just a roundhouse kick to the nuts & the entire journey i felt throughout the game was just wasted. it does, they went for a revenge plot for the story and that was known from the beginning. They chosen to fuel this vengeance powerfully. You feel the exact same as Ellie felt. This is a duel narrative story where every character is humanized and at first you fight it. But overtime it slowly grows on you.
The story was like a roller-coaster and it had caught my attention just as the original did.
I strongly recommend this game to anyone that owns a PS4.

one of the games selling points is a gay couple witch would be good IF it was just another thing dont act like its such a wow thing treat it like an everyday thing we wanna normalize that not make it a selling point god damn and they call us all the words that end with phobe ..

the game alone would be a ..8? idk however.. IT ISNT its a follow up A SEQUEL in a sequel you continue the universe IF the fans are playing for the universe in the last of us 1 they didnt it was a good one but THE GAME ISNT PLAYER FOR THE UNIVERSE its played for the character joel and ellie not extra buff abbie witch isnt a bad character she is just realy really really pathetic compared to ellie and lets accept it the game without joel isnt that fun you know it i know it ULESS they do something good with ellie like they did in the walking dead with clem and lee i think was his name
so killing him off without even abusing him is a waste now by abbuse i mean put the flashbacks first so we get really attached and then kill him so we will feel just pure anger and play trough the game just to kill abbie witch seemed like what you wanted to go for and kill her at the end witch did no happen sadly

another really really really really dumb thing and i mean REALLY dumb is that the tale is about how revenge is bad however what did abbie lose? since ellie lost literaly everything and abbie lost .. a few friends? shes a psycho so doubt she cares since ellie still has ptsd from seeing joel and i repeat SEEING joel die while she does not feel nothing at all i get he kills her father but so did she did to ellie .Joel was a father figgure to her so the least she could have at the ending killed her too and then killed lev ended the cycle of revenge got a good ending and giving us what we wanted i COULD NOT care less about abby and lev sincerly and not because lev is trans since that is what most "game journalists" use as an argument just that we already got a joel and ellie and we dont need a replacement at least we didnt need one if this game was good witch it isnt and killed him in such a pathetic way . at the start i saw what they were going for her father being killed in front of her with her powerless witch was pure genius ON ITS OWN i must say if they did things corectly before and then had a cool journey driven purely by revenge and hate witch wouldve been nice but it isnt she still feels remorse witch is human but badly executed because of abby witch feels nothing and it makes the main character for most of us witch is ellie feels so weak and pathetic wtich sincerly does not help the bad writing like at the start joel running in a place full of strangers and straight up telling his name after all that he has done a lot of people say that he had it coming THEN **** EXPECT IT TO HAVE IT COMING dont act like youre all safe in jackson cuz guess what he never was also do they seriously think all of the fireflies were just that little hospital when AT THE START of the game they assaulted a fully armed CITY of damn military soldiers and youre telling me just cause he killed max 100 fireflies they all dissapeard like .. wtf??? im confused do they seriously think they cant just attack jackson its big dont get me wrong it just isnt that big and fireflies were all over the country so i doubt they would even stand a chance so then they could make a game about beating the odds and defending jackson finding new guns recruiting you get what i mean witch would make it amaizing like god tier on my list but then they made this ... thing witch is just a plot writted on lazy writing and another thing before i finish why would you in gods name make me play as abby AFTER YOU killed joel do you really expect me to have any simpathy for her? like srsly what the actual **** after i heard its 10 hours of abby gameplay i quit the game but after a week i came back hoping i could forget about joel but guess what ? i could not and abby felt so damn boring and ... annoying the only fun thing was getting all her death screens witch was actualy way more fun than the actual story witch is quite pathetic like just kill her off at the end or something i already could not care less but then you make your story dumber by the ending trying to prove that revenge is bad by letting the one who started it leave almost unscathed with a fresh new start with lev and ellie the one who stopped it rejected by tommie probably and by her gf and probably child so ... idk about that but i lost all hope for naughty dog and neil **** and when i think of tlou. one of the best game of the decade i hopefully will forget about this hot buring piece of garbage witch is this game ty if you read it hole and if you have not bought the game then do not bother and gg gamers cya
