Worst game in terms of plot favorite couple Ellie and Joel died at the very beginning killing Joel even at the very beginning is a shame for Naughty Dog so set up the fans I have no words. This is the best game but the plot spoils everything. All for fans of part 1. The screenwriters killed the main and very charismatic character I will not get tired of repeating this shame.     The gorgeous graphics and ambiance couldn't save this drowning mess of a game if you tossed it a life line.
    In my brutally honest opinion no respectable gamer or legit LOU fan would ever give this steaming hot garbage a 10/10 review. You couldn’t pay me enough to write lies like that especially to a follow-up to the 2013 masterpiece.
    Based on the teaser trailer I think we all guessed correctly that Joel’s life would be cut short. "Live by the sword die by the sword" has always been a good mantra for these apocalyptic games. It makes sense as a drive for Ellie to go on the journey she does and it’s what gave me the initial boost of aggravation to seek revenge on the new character, Abby (who looks like a knockoff of Ronda Rousey). However any good writer should know that you can't kill a beloved pivotal character so quickly in a 30hr game only to turn around and force you play the killer in a cheap gimmick to make you sympathize with their logic for their actions. Joel isn't the type to give shady strangers personal info freely either so that was idiotic. I didn't buy into that lazy Abby plot twist at all and it was painful to slog through the latter half of the game with an unlikable character. To make matters worse Ellie has lost her charm and biting wit too so when playing her it felt I wasn't really playing the "real" Ellie if that makes sense.
    Since you play Ellie's version of events prior, you know Abby's efforts will result in the same outcome therefore playing Abby was intensely boring and made me even angrier.
    The first LOU had me on the edge of my seat and compelled me to play hours and hours straight just to find out what happened in the next chapter, but this sequel felt like a slog and chore. I had to actually step away from the game many times due to repetitive tasks and unnecessarily long action sequences in between too many cinematic cut scenes which I NEVER had to do with the first game. To me that's a huge sign that Naughty Dog failed miserably.
    The tiny bright story moments were the flashback scenes with Ellie, Joel and Tommy. In fact if they had just released a game with nothing but flashbacks it would've been far better.
    The new infected are ok and the dialogue and reactions of the human enemies was a nice improvement. Besides that it was a nose dive into hell. Especially when you're forced to kill dogs in a terribly brutal way.
    Then there's the awkward love triangles that didn't make me like/dislike anyone they were forcing down my throat to sympathize/hate with. Jessie was just basically a sperm donor who could've been killed much earlier in the game and it wouldn't have effected much else. They should've paid more attention to the many plot holes instead which were GIANT.
    Now to the rest of the new characters! Lev is a trans cult member. Since when do dystopian people have the time to give a flying rat's butt about trans issues when they're too busy starving to death or trying to survive blood thirsty gangs and infected? No one, that's who, and it's a non-dystopian problem. In fact if you remove Lev and that side story and just focused on his sister/mother it would've sufficed for an excuse for Abby to visit their island base. The trans aspect added no value. Just empty calories. Also this quest overall is just poor filler to explain where Abby was during the events too. I bet Neil is patting his smug back for being such a great sjw and so are the reviewers for praising it.
    Then there's Dina. Dina has the depth of a puddle. She is Ellie's love interest and eventual "partner in crime". Her character felt hollow and had no endearing moments that made me think "Gee she's so cool and awesome like Ellie. I really want her to live through this." In fact the awkward unnecessary sex scene in a pot farm operation was what tipped me over the edge for really disliking where the direction of the game was taking me. Abby's graphic sex scene was even worse. Since when did LOU need this to progress the plot? Last I checked this wasn't Game Of Thrones even though it sucks like season 8. I can't stress this enough that the plot is atrocious anyway, but it was like Neil purposely hired an immature hack writer that had college fantasies living through characters of this game.
    The epilogue was dragged to an inch of it's miserable life where I was left thinking "Ok this must be the LAST cut scene it's gotta be! For the love of God make it stop". 10 merciless cut scenes later....I was scrambling through my purse for the receipt in hopes to get a refund, which I did the next day and put that credit towards Cyberpunk.
    7 years. SEVEN YEARS to make this the most epic return and they squandered it.
    I'm going to try and erase this insulting stain from my memory.

    Passed this Wonderful game, time 29:33, the difficulty level is normal. The game is just Great, there is one point that in my opinion is stupid. But overall I am very pleased with the game, thanks to the Noughty Dog,developers. A very strong and adult game.

The artful character development was felt through my playthrough in a way that I have never experienced before in my 15+ years of playing video games. Including TLoU Part 1. The development of the story is completely valid in my opinion, especially given the circumstances and setting. And honestly how privileged do you have to be to get angry or upset just because the author didn't write the story the way you wanted?

I have been writing professionally for 15 years. I was a combat journalist in the United States Navy and I have seen the dark side of life. I understand people were attached to Joel and placed his FICTIONAL character on a pedestal but that goes to show how many of you miss the entire point of the world of Last of Us. There are no good guys and bad guys. Their are just people and worse people doing all they can to survive. This is a world where a clicker can jump you in 2 seconds flat an end your life. You DO NOT DESERVE a heroes death, because there are no heroes. Ellie and Abby are a dichotomy. An exploration of each other by playing as the OTHER. Ellie was safe for 4 years. She had love, friends and a completely safe haven to live in where she only needed to kill clickers and the occasional hunter. Thats why Joel's death broke her and made her go off the deep end. On the flip side Abby's life was always death at every corner. Her father shot in his face for trying to save the world and then for FOUR YEARS she was part of the WLF as THE TOP SCAR KILLER as they call her. She had become desensitized to her own loss of morality. Notice how Ellie always had a recurring dream of Joel's death and Abby of her fathers death. They both were haunted by death because their minds were dead set on revenge. They had lost the ability to empathize in this world. They could not see the others perspective which is why we PLAYED AS BOTH PERSPECTIVES. To show you that both of these people love, feel, struggle, hate, lose, win, cry, laugh. But they will also do whatever it takes to survive and protect what is theirs because in this world that is all they have. There are no bad guys or good guys in this world. Only those people and things you can carry with you because everything else you take is a risk. If you watch the Joel death scene you realize through FANTASTIC ANIMATION his facial expression when he realizes the girl he did not perceive as a threat Abby ( WHO IS THE SAME AGE AS ELLIE) was the one he actually should have been worried about. But you see on his face in that moment the regret. He got comfortable. He allowed himself to let his guard down living in Jackson and it cost him his life. But then at the end of the game they have the scene with Joel and Ellie where he tells her he is at peace with his decisions and would DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN because in the end he got his girl. That is a metaphor for his death as well. He would make all the same mistakes again as long as he had his baby girl. That writing. This was the SADDEST game I have ever played. I legit teared up at the end. I will not talk about technical prowess because that aspect is not debatable. Naughty Dog has by far the most polished world building, gameplay and animation in the game. I just wanted to lay out the story for people. If you have not played this game please do not be bias and go in with pre conceived notions. Give this game its just due........It is a MASTERCLASS.… Expand

    Everything about this game is perfect, from the masterclass sound design to the fantastic graphical display. The set pieces landed in all the best ways and the gameplay throughout was smooth and perfect. That being said the main issue that people had with the game is the story. I believe the story to be one of the best most emotional stories I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.     **** knows why people are bombing this game on the reviews the gameplay was awesome the story was nothing like I expected the harsh reality of the game kept me on the edge of my seat it was an emotional rollercoaster! Currently on my second play through trying get the platinum

    Amazing game. One of the hardest games to get through in the best kind of way. It's amazing how you can have one idea of who you are and who you're rooting for, then just flip that on its head. Haven't had a "are you sure you're the good guy" moment like this since spec ops the line. Also I fail to see what people are talking about, there's no politics in this game at all. JustAmazing game.     The only people who dislike this game, are people who did not finish the game or give it the chance it deserved. This game will frustrate you, but it is all worth it. Never before have i seen a game look so predictable to start and completly flip my expectations upside down.     Let's start with the fact that you are dealing with a work of art, and as you know, ignorant people do not know about it, that's why there are so many negative opinions here. Both Elie and Abby are women to fall in love with, I adore the creators for showing Abby's story in such a way that I not only forgave her but also began to wish her well, that's why the end of the game was the hardest experience in my life (when it comes to games) . Everyone really should go through The Last of us 2 and see for yourself whether this cruel world created by Naughty Dogs will make you think about human nature. At the end I cried and prayed that it would end because my heart would not bear more emotions… Expand

    It is not as bad as you think it is, play it until the end and you’ll see.

Playing as both Ellie and Abby allowed me to see both sides of the story and empathize with Abby after hating her and not being able to wait to kill her. I love that ND changed my point of view just like Ellie's changed. The character development of both Ellie and Abby was outstanding. This game was well worth the 7 year wait.… Expand

    As a die hard fan of this series it confuses me the hate for this game. There are people on both sides either loving or hating the game for it story which is quite controversial. For me it’s my favourite game right after the first and an amazing buy that I think anyone needs to at least give it a shot first.     As a die hard fan of this series it confuses me the hate for this game. There are people on both sides either loving or hating the game for it story which is quite controversial. For me it’s my favourite game right after the first and an amazing buy that I think anyone needs to at least give it a shot first. I’ll get back to this later but first. The game at its core is amazing. They have a truly polished game with not a single bug in my play through. You’ll get about 35-40 hours on this depending on your play style. For me I like to look through everything and take my time so it was towards 40 hours. The mechanics that they have added don’t take away from what the first game had, but instead add extra layers of how to approach combat. And the combat in this game is brutal. It’s not for the faint hearted because this will show everything. Using a shotgun or sniper will take limbs off. Melee combat flows incredible well with the dodge they’ve implemented and makes melee combat something to look forward to rather than a last resort. Level design has taken a step up and the levels are larger and have much to explore adding some extra playtime and replay ability on. This game takes what the first had and improves on most aspects. Including the graphics. The first game was the most stunning game on ps3 as it was towards the end of its time and with this I have to say it’s one of the most stunning for ps4. Every aspect of this game is crystal clear and made to a standard you can’t fault

    Now the story. The story is something that’s hard to pin. You have the first game which had such a carefully crafted story focused on Joel and Ellie and it was made to convey a certain message about the building of their relationship. This game is about revenge and hate and hurting. These themes are very different and normally turn out to be a bad ending or some uncomfortable moments in the story. I loved this story. It had me in tears by the end and and although is wasn’t a “happy ending” it’s exactly the way it should’ve ended. The last of us 1 had a unsettling ending and this game stays true to that. And I feel because of this people have decided to bomb the game since it doesn’t end the way they wanted it to and leaves a lasting impact on you. This game has some flaws like the mid game can seem to make the game slow down a bit and I started to have some problems but most of those ironed out by completing the game and understanding the rest of the story as a whole.
    I give this game an honest 9.5/10. It’s an fantastic beautifully crafted game that everyone should play and try before forming a judgment or taking anyone else’s. Including mine. Play it and decide for yourself.    … Expand

Honestly being a fan of the first game and seeing how everything has evolved that was truly amazing great combo with the amazing graphics on every character but this game really shocked me it had everything amazing action,quality cutscenes,gore and out standing deaths obviously loving the characters i was stunned when they died but just like a real death they disappeared as fast as they appeared it had a full circle of content good fighting deaths of loved ones emotions everything this is truly a masterpiece i havnt played a game that really shook me this bad after a death in a long time this is truly a game that I connected with thank you.… Expand

    I actually played the game. It’s one of the best stories since the first game. Can’t wait for TLOU3, I hope Abby gets more muscular and Ellie is even gayer just to piss the haters off. But seriously great game, powerful story and Neil I expect my check in the mail.

Mostly empty and rushed character development for characters which we did not ask for, and for which we do not care for. Great job to the team who made the gameplay and locations really detailed. I had a ton of fun playing as Ellie but my anger and frustration was caused by Abby and the direction Neil Druckmann was taking it. I cannot recommend this game to anyone unless you want it purely for the gameplay or have not played the first one. In that case, I would highly recommend you buy the first one and just pretend this one never existed.… Expand

The story, the characters, although being something that was already seen, surprised me and I fell in love with them. The effort made by Naughty dog in developing their own story was clear, and I enjoyed it like watching a tv series. I then decided to play the first game with my own hands, and it just felt amazing. After waiting 6 years, the sequel came out. What to say, it’s not just the impressive graphics and the better gameplay, but the realism of the story who caught me. At first, I didn’t get why they wanted us to play as Abby too, but then I realized: there are no bad nor good people in a post apocalyptic world...just survivors who have different ideas on how to survive. Of course, some of them might have, how do I put it, questionable methods, but the final objective is always the same: surviving. A lot of people were triggered by Joel’s death; I was too. But you can’t just review a game basing your vote on a big, but still small, part of the story. About the presence of SJW contents, I was actually impressed: of course it wasn’t necessary, but why are there so many people that are against this? Can’t you just evolve from your primitive way of thinking like you lived in 1900? Anyway...beautiful story, good study of the way of thinking of the characters and better gameplay than the first one, although it isn’t so innovating.… Expand

    One of my favourite games this generation. Wasn't aware of the leaks going in and went in with an open mind. Would agree there are some pacing issues but didn't distract from the emotional story for me. Highly recommended.

    almost 4 days, finally I reached the end. I didn't see any spoiler before I played it by myself, so when I saw Joel's death, the story of Abby's father, Ellie's revenge, I was totally shocked.

    Personally, I can accept the whole story of Part 2, I can understand both Abby and Ellie. Abby's hate of Joel, because of her father's death. Her father was shot by Joel, without any weapon in his hand. Abby can not forgive Joel, her heart was taken by rage, she belived her father is a good man, who wanted to save the world, but killed by Joel. the next few years, she just trained herself, joined wlf, met exboyfriend. All she wanted is revenge, is Joel. you can see, When she killed Joel, she didn't blame Ellie, she gave her life, let her go, that is first time.

    Abby didn't meet someone who really save her souls, until Lev and Yara. After 3days with Lev, and her two best friends were killed by Ellie, she still gave Ellie second chance. Because she konws that feeling, that your heart was taken by RAGE, REVENGGE, and you kill someone who can not hurt you, even you hate that man, he can still be you nightmare all your life. that is different, Abby do have killed so many people, but she can tell herself, on that moment, if she didn't shoot, she might be the dead one. But with Joel, she can't tell herself like that, because joel was under her foot, without any chance to do something. She knew that feeling after Joel, so she didn't do it again to Ellie, twice.

    And Ellie, some people can not accept the choice of Ellie. Did you guts really kill someone？Did you guys really kill someone who have nothing to do with you, and have nothing in her hand when you pointed her with a gun, and be Pregnant？if you did that once, you might understand Ellie. of course, Ellie has killed so many people, but the same, she did that because of defense too. And Joel always taught her to be a good girl, she knews what is right, what is not. And the most important, Ellie didn't have a chance to apologize to Joel. She want to save the world, she know she might be the hope of the world, but Joel made a choice for her, she feels guilty all the time after she knows the turth. she finally forgive Joel, but Joel is dead, she have no chance to say that. And after Mel, Ellie knows if she do it
    again, Abby will be her nightmare too. so she let Abby and Lev go. I can totally feel her struggle and pain.

    The violence in this game is brutal, but it's relevant and meaningful; it's not gore porn. Ellie is relentless, the world she is in and the enemies she's up against are relentless.
    This intensity adds to the already intense gameplay, you never feel like you're safe and you always feel like you just can't catch a breathe.
    I could go on and on about how amazing this work of art is; from the sound design, to the writing, to the acting, graphics, animations... I'll stop there.

    I like it. Does it honour the memory of the dirt game no. But it’s a great standalone. You’ll only really find bad writing here and there but the overall experience is great. The game succeeded as ND got you to feel emotion and the ones they wanted like anger hate and grief with occasional love and happiness. This game had the potential to be a lot and I mean A LOT better but it just wasn’t.

    I had loved the first one - This one goes beyond. It's visceral and you're gonna be tapped to your sofa for the 25-20h needed to compleet the story.
    The best PS4 game made ever (and I'm a fan of TW3 which is completely different by the way). I really don't understand at all the bad critics from users, the story is jsut insane and most of all the way they make you live it is just mindblazing.

Just found the introduction a bit too long, the AI is still far from perfect (but more aggressive and more enemies), and basically, the progression is the same as in every ND Games.     The writing, dialog and performances combined are possibly the best I've ever seen in a game, it's even better than most movies in the genre. I wish that this is what Walking Dead was more like, and kinda was in early seasons, but I digress. The writing has excellent pacing, weaving between sequences of intense action followed by much-needed respites, pretty perfectly balanced. Whether I was doing straight gameplay or essentially watching a movie section I was thoroughly engrossed throughout. And I really liked the character arcs, this game has interesting things to say that even sorta addresses criticism of certain thematic aspects of the Uncharted games. It turns things on its ear for its audience the way few games have, ever. And that is very good. And even on a moment to moment basis, this game was filled with so many "gotcha" moments and I hardly ever saw any of them coming. I love that in any movie or game.

    This is probably the best-looking game I've ever seen, there is so much detail and artistry packed into every corner of this game and it is simply massive! It would have been enough if the game was half as long but at 30 hours or so it's a highly satisfying length. To put that much detail into such a long game is unfathomable. And it seems like they maybe took a page out of God Of War by making a point to blend seamlessly between gameplay and cutscenes and weird hybrid gameplay-cutscenes. It's very effective.

    The gameplay is tight and fun, I was rarely frustrated with the controls. There are tons of ways to approach encounters and great depth and strategy. In these types of games I typically approach encounters in a boring way by sticking with one weapon or tactic the whole time, but with the chronically low ammo count per weapon you are forced to always mix things up which makes every encounter interesting, and when you pull it off, you feel like a right badass. And even when I'm in a section where I'm dying over and over again, each attempt hardly ever happens the same way twice, which is fun.

    Now that I finished I went back to look to see what everyone's fuss about regarding the story leaks and I can confidently say that it's all very unfounded and anyone who hated the ideas inferred in the spoilers, then played this masterful game, and still hates it, well... they are not using reason, but are blinded by emotion. And to everyone who is review-bombing the game who hasn't even played it (looking at everyone who posted reviews before it came out or only on the first day it came out) shame on you.

We kill hundreds of people just to let Abby go. Ellie's left with no fingers, with no family, with no future, to be honest.
    I've spent 30+ hours to feel depressed, to feel betrayed and to realize this game doesn't even have an idea, a moral. Killing is bad? Hell it is, but what about all those dead people? Revenge is bad?? Tell Abby about that! She USED her chance to kill Joel, Ellie failed a lot. All in all, character development is VERY poor. I'd prefer to erase my memory and pretend this game never happened.

    Naughty dog writes the story while watching GoT TV series. Starts good and then plunge into the abyss as soon as you started enjoying the game. Killing off previous main character right away after the introduction is a shame. There are too many plot holes in the story. Why the infected started to swarm Jackson area. How come Abby timing is so perfect that she met Joel. Jesse survive travelling alone from Jackson to find Ellie and Dina just to get shot by Abby because he rush head first. Ellie could've prevent the dramatic chase of Nora by clearing her surrounding, I've been watching Nora suspicious hand but how come Ellie did not notice it? She sneak into the hospital alone, This character is supposed to be super vigilant. She did not have to Kill Owen and Mel, by making distance from them and separating them to write Abby location but no, we need dramatic death and many more just so naughty dog can show us some brutal deaths and show that our main and loved character is a bad guy. No amount of Abby backstory can justify what naughty dog did to Joel.    … Expand

    Disappointed that after 7 years the gameplay was stagnant. The visuals animations and locations are top notch and what is expected of Naughty Dog. The story on the other hand was nonsensical and had huge pacing issues.     The game is freaking great. The story is engaging and it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
    Do not pay attention to the low user scores that came primarily from homophobic idiots, who didn't even play the game and based their opinions off picture leaks and negative social media trends.

    First of all, my honest score to this game would be a 4 or 5 out of 10. But Last Of Us Part 2 wasn't supposed to be a game that could disappoint it's fans, and it did JUST THAT. You know how it goes, the scenario just sucks. Disappointing. I'm just heartbroken to give this score, because of it's stupid story.

    The critics can't be taken serious anymore ! They have lost all credibility with their over inflated scores. This game is mediocre at best. Graphics are good but other than that I would rather play fallout 76 than this. So sad because the first one was amazing and is one of my top five favorite games.

    Halfway through the game you no longer feel like you are playing TLOU but more like a sequel to a Resident Evil. You don't feel any connection to part 1. Everything about the game itself is amazing; however, it's the story and how it was delivered that left me dissatisfied. It does not come across as a story that took several years to write, more like several days. It was wrong that they falsely advertised Joel being in the game during Ellie's revenge quest. I get what they were trying to do with the story itself. The problem is that it was poorly thought through and equally poorly delivered. I've always loved Naughty Dogs games, which usually always turn out to be my favorites. My favorite game of all time was TLOU 1. It will always have a special place in my heart, always. I feel like part 2 just slapped me in the face. For me TLOU 2 is a love/hate relationship. Antes de dar mi opinión quiero recordar que este juego es una "SECUELA" y lo pongo entre comillas porque enterraron la trama del primero en un intento de meternos con calzador en nuestro cerebro las ideologías que tienen los creadores del juego sobre dos temas que quiero destacar ... Comunidad LGBT.... y feminismo, quiero aclarar que no tengo nada en contra de la gente de la comunidad LGBT, tengo amigos y familiares que son parte de esa comunidad y yo respeto los gustos y orientaciones sexuales de cada persona y por otro lado yo siempre he respetado y respetaré a las mujeres al igual que respeto a todas las personas porque creo en la equidad, pero lo que no me parece del juego es que no te intentan meter la idea de que debes respetar a la mujer y que debe haber equidad , sino que prácticamente por ser hombre ya eres peor persona que una mujer ... TODOS LOS HOMBRES en el juego son una basura humana desechable. En el mismo intento de la ideología que nos quieren obligar a adoptar se olvidaron de la historia del juego y la trama es horrible.

    Comenzaré con las cosas buenas, la jugabilidad es buena, muy parecida al primer TLOU con algunas mejoras y un poco de innovación aunque llega un punto en que, como cualquier juego se vuelve repetitiva, cosa que no está mal si es divertido, pero llega el punto en el que se vuelve aburrido y muy lineal.
    Gráficamente el juego es muy bueno, no puede ser excelente porque hay momentos en los que hay downgrades pero estoy seguro que es por los límites de la consola, cuando salga la versión para PS5 no tengo dudas de que en ese apartado sera inmejorable, tuvieron cuidado con los detalles pequeños en casi todos los escenarios y eso siempre se agradece

    Pasando a lo malo, hay que empezar con lo más evidente LA HISTORIA, todo inicia bien pero se cargan todo tan solo pasando el inicio del juego, EL PEOR ERROR que pudieron cometer en el juego fue matar a Joel tan temprano y sobre todo de la forma en que lo mataron y con el personaje que lo mataron, no contentos con eso, la mitad del juego nos la tenemos que tragar jugando con ese mismo personaje que mató al verdadero protagonista de la saga ... y cabe destacar que la parte más aburrida del juego es esa, cuando controlamos a Aby. En mi caso MUY PERSONAL al llegar a la parte de Aby se me fueron quitando poco a poco las ganas de jugar pero quería terminar el juego y me tuve que tragar toda la segunda parte del juego que es muy aburrida y encima jugué molesto solo de recordar que ese personaje que se sacaron de la manga había matado a Joel.

    El siguiente punto que está muy mal es la inteligencia artificial (lo único bueno increíblemente SON LOS PERROS, son los únicos que te presentan un reto) había veces en que mataba a un enemigo a un metro de otro y no se enteraba de que había matado a su compañero. Y los infectados son muy sencillos de matar a puños. Todo eso hace que el combate sea muy aburrido, encima es más efectivo matar con hacha o un cuchillo que con una pistola ... los enemigos mueren instantáneamente con un golpe de arma blanca y no mueren al instante de un balazo en el pecho ???

    En fin, un juego que quiero olvidar pero que creo que aún se puede rescatar la saga en una tercera entrega.

    Esse jogo é uma lacração insana de péssimo gosto. não faz jus ao primeiro pelo fato do Joel adotar um comportamento totalmente contraditório e os produtores fazem chacota do jogador ao insinuar que Joel deu o cu por café. Esse jogo é uma vergonha pois tenta disseminar padrões politicamente correto.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
