Expand

It's like seeing realistic violence in a middle school play - absurd.

The gameplay of Part II is very similiar that we expiernced in previos part of the game and Uncharted series. It's pretty good, but there is nothing really new that can hold me near the screen for a long time. It starts allright but it turns boring after first nine hours of gameplay. And there are much more hours... The plot is simply not worth this time, better go and play A Thief's End.

Let's hope that the developers find the strength to create something truly amazing in the next game.

I understand why alot of people are upset with the direction of the game and they have every right to be, but dont let that sway you, just because what happens isnt exactly what fans would prefer to happen. The story is amazing and very powerful, it truly makes you reflect on the characters choices. Naughty dog absolutely delivers with this game even if I still wish things had been different. I have never played through a series that was so emotionally gripping. Naughty dog truly created a world that pulls you in and keeps you drawn for the vast majority. That being said there are some points where you feel tedious gameplaywise. The story truly has you engaged at all time. I highly recommend you play this game. Also for all of those who worry about things like this. Naughty dog did a great job at keeping strong female character's, including a racially diverse group, and adding LGBTQ themes all without it feeling shoved down your throat and making the male characters look weak. This game is a perfect example of how to spread social awareness without having to make one party look inferior. I really hope they make this a trilogy, and so long as they nail the cast, I will be very much looking forward to the hbo series. Expand

I'm about fifteen hours in - a few things need to be said:

    - Ignore the votebombing campaign. A huge amount of the hate it's getting is simply for having gay characters in the lead. The people hating on the game are conservatives with small minds who clearly haven't played it. - For those people who are SINCERELY disappointed in the darker, brutal turn the story takes all I can say

    - Ignore the votebombing campaign. A huge amount of the hate it's getting is simply for having gay characters in the lead. The people hating on the game are conservatives with small minds who clearly haven't played it.

    - For those people who are SINCERELY disappointed in the darker, brutal turn the story takes all I can say is...did you play the same The Last Of Us 1 that I did? Joel's daughter is killed in the first hour of the game and he goes on to murder hundreds upon hundreds of human beings. Then he makes a deeply morally questionable decision at the end of the game.
This is not a game series for people who like happy endings. And if you're surprised by the turns this game's story takes that's a GOOD thing, no? Did you not want to be surprised?
One comment I read here on Metacritic in the User Score section summed up the stupidity of most of the criticism this game's getting: it said:

"THE DEVELOPERS IGNORED THE COMMUNITY AND JUST WROTE THEIR OWN STORY!!!"

I mean...what do you say to someone who thinks that way? Someone who is so entitled and spoiled and small minded that they believe they have some divine right to dictate the direction of someone else's story in someone else's game?

Okay, that out of the way, I can get onto the game itself. I'm going to admit that I was not a huge fan of the first game. I thought it began and ended brilliantly, in fact I think it has easily the greatest ending of any game ever made - the ending is up there with the ending to some of the greatest films ever made too.
But the bulk of the game itself wasn't enjoyable for me. It was too slow, the stealth was too laboured and predictable and the gunplay was dull. I'm a huge fan of ND games, Uncharted 2-4 remain some of my all-time favourites, but TLOU was a rare ND game that just didn't click with me.
For some reason I'm finding its sequel much, much more enjoyable. First of all, the simple act of moving around the world is greatly improved. You are quicker, more nimble, the mantling animations are fluid, you can climb quickly and easily...
A great example of how much care has been taken over making movement responsive and satisfying is the way your horse controls. Think of how many games have horses in them...now think of how utterly atrociously difficult it is to control those horses: eg. Red Dead 2, with its painfully slow, tank-like horses, or Shadow of the Colossus with the infuriatingly capricious Agro, Roach in The Witcher 3, etc., etc... Yet your horse in TLOU 2 is an extension of you. It turns on a dime, it accelerates beautifully, it moves from a trot to a gallop to a stop with such fluidity I was a bit startled when I first controlled it. This is the Naughty Dog difference: the sheer care that's gone into making small things as good as they can possibly be.

When I reviewed Uncharted 4 I called it 'Luxury Gaming', simply because of the lavishness of the enterprise, the absurd amount of care and attention that had gone into every single component of the game. And while TLOU 2 doesn't have the same obvious graphical splendor and jaw-dropping scenery as Uncharted 4, it has had just as much, maybe more, attention paid to it.
It's visually magnificent, although the narrative forces it into less obviously attractive locations than other big hitters in this department like Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead 2 and the aforementioned Uncharted 4. It controls beautifully. ...And the combat...the human versus human combat...bloody hell. I've just started facing other humans, and it feels substantially different from other action games in this regard. It feels much more tense. A single shot can kill you, a single shot can kill them...the enemies shout to each other throughout, threaten you, you can try and outflank them, and you have your heat-vision-y sense powers, but apart from that it's desperation and adrenaline.

I'm hoping the game keeps up this level of quality, in its gunplay and in its stealth, and so far this feels like its cribbed a lot of valuable lessons from Uncharted 4(which Neil Druckmann, director of TLOU 1 and 2, also directed) simply in how to make the game more...well, fun. More purely enjoyable. How to make stealth and combat more satisfying. So far it feels like they've succeeded, and I get the same sugar rush from the action elements in this game that I got from Uncharted 4, only there's a good deal more depth to this.

I am interested in seeing where the plot goes. But it's the gameplay that so far is impressing me most.

Based on my impressions of the game up until now this is a substantial improvement on the first game - more satisfying in every single area. I was not expecting much because I'd had such a hard time with the first game, but it has been riveting so far. Tense, dramatic, with a forward momentum propelling the player forward. It's daring, with the unique 'luxury gaming' touch that you only get with ND.

The character building was awful, I can't see any character development. The characters were just tools, that to be used in order to get to push the story forward. Oh, not to mention the story itself was broken.

I believe new game+ is not necessary, no one would want to experience the story again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Greetings to those who passed the game. Finally, we released part 2 of the game that changed the entire gaming industry in 2013, implemented an excellent production and roughly speaking, everything of that kind. What I will say about part 2... These were unforgettable emotions... The game immediately engages and pulls us into this native atmosphere. The work with light/shadow is beautiful, the music accompaniment, my homage to Gustavo is on top, as always. The game's mechanics have become varied and refined. You can crawl and climb into cars, break Windows, throw ropes, and put up ladders. The game has become very diverse, there is no sense of straight linearity. The world is beautiful, and every building you enter makes sense to find something useful in it. But now I'm going to talk about the sickest part of this game. Plot and direction. Yes, I liked the technique of telling the story from different sides (characters). Playing for Ellie, I realized that this is not a 14 - year-old defenseless sweet girl, but a fierce, cruel 19-year-old girl who will not put herself under the barrel. Playing for her was more fun than playing for Abby. Joel's death was in vain in the first hours of the game, it feels like Neil Drakman spat at him. I, like Ellie, have learned that I need to take revenge on this **** despite her story (I didn't like it)! And for what? To let her go? Ellie, like Abby, had lost almost everyone she cared about, and what was it, for nothing? I feel sorry for Joel when he listened to all the **** Ellie said and died from a high-powered woman's stick... Very sad ending, I was crying, but over the failed ending of this story. Unfortunately, I can't say more, or they'll ban me. Expand

The game is amazing every single thing about it, Yhe graphics is something I’ve never ever seen in a video game, naughty dog has pushed the boundaries. The animations the gameplay mechanics really gave me an idea of what the next gen might look like. makes me wonder what the hell is about all this hate, if ya’ll wanted a fairy tale with a happily ever after then go watch a disney princess movie. This game is set in a world where death is literally everywhere. And i see that some people got pissed because joel gets killed? And calling the game trash Lmao, But still it broke my heart to see him go like that at first, this didn’t make me hate the game or the story, instead it got me more hooked into the game filled with vengeance. the part 2 clearly highlights one thing, there are two **** sides to every story and you shouldn’t be too quick to judge, once i got to play as Abby and learned her story, joels death is completely justified, or better yet he got what he deserved. And to be honest, i got much more attached to Abby once i got to play as her, and it shows that just like ellie, she’s a good person in general, and the ending was exactly how it should be, it felt wrong and uncomfortable trying to kill abby at the state she was in, and that’s how it should be, because abby spared ellies life not once, and that makes the two of them even. The positive:
    - Script and story, that's what I expect from a narrative game, bringing realism and getting out of the predictable, i mean the world We know is not the same for those people, it's a jungle law, every single one of them been trough a lot to SURVIVE, and that's why some actions seem almost natural for them, I salute the staff for the audacity, If they think of a sequel, I wish them good luck ..

    - Graphics, nothing breathtaking. but it's good.

The trailers are SO misleading! It shows more of Joel and Ellie’s relationship through this so called “journey” than the ACTUAL game itself. They mistreat Ellie and Joel so badly to the point where it’s not even a sequel anymore to the first game which was mainly based on their relationship as father and daughter. Not to mention that the new characters each have a political background. It’s like the directors wanted to shoved their messages in your face and that’s not even surprising to me anymore because I just realized that one of the directors of the game is a FEMINIST! Yes, a feminist. Neil Druckmann is actually the main director of the game and he has been caught for liking and retweeting SJW fanarts of the Uncharted Series even though there was no LGBTQ character in that game. I don’t mean to be a homophobic, I’m actually loving the fact that Ellie was lesbian because it’s very rare to see a main character whose in the LGBTQ community. But you don’t have to push your agenda to the point where it is so damn obvious + disrespecting the main characters. The whole entire game is so SAD and violent to the point where I had to stop watching a stream because it’s just hard to imagine that this was the game that you’ve waited years for. Just some advice, DO NOT LISTEN TO CRITICS! Listen to gamers on twitch or Youtube such as PewDiePie and AngryJoe. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To see the world through the eyes of your enemy. In most games, the acts of the characters we play as are portrayed as just or treated as escapism. In this, we play as characters who do terrible things and those acts aren't justified. It is a tale of consequence. How I felt about the characters at the beginning was very different from how I felt about them at the end. I think that is why it is so divisive. The characters you play as make a lot of choices that can be hard to accept and the player has no control over those decisions. In some ways, it's like the end sequence of the Last of Us 1, we don't chose who the characters are for better or worse.

In terms of visual and sound quality, its at the highest level. The character modeling, environments, animation, lighting and FX are all among the best of any game I have seen. That's been said by countless people so I will focus on my experience overall.

The gameplay is split between two characters, Ellie and Abby. About an hour into Abby's story, after being saved by Joel, Abby and her friends turn on Joel, murdering him in front of Ellie. This act makes Abby incredibly hard to like and makes playing as her feel like a huge betrayal. For everyone who loved Joel in the first game, playing as the character who brutally murders him, especially after he just saved her life is hard. With that said, I think that is the point, from very early on, the player gets to share Ellie's feelings of hate. To me, that was an effective part of the experience. Most of the characters aren't ideal but they are believable and multidimensional. Almost every character makes many bad decisions, they were hard to like but by the end I could empathize with them, even if I still couldn't agree with them. I don't think you need to like the characters for the game to be good though. The game isn't trying to tell you that these characters are justified in their actions, it is taking you through the series of events that shape their view of each other, themselves and the world. in that I felt it was very effective.

The first half of the game you mainly play as Ellie hunting Abby. Along the way, Ellie finds and kills Abby's friends and accomplices one by one. The problem is, most of Abby's friends didn't take part in killing Joel, so for Ellie, killing them is not satisfying. it doesn't lessen her hatred because she doesn't associate them with the act. She is almost singularly focused on killing Abby. She risks everyone she loves and kills any person that gets in her way. As I played further and further, I found myself losing respect for Ellie, she continued to make choices that I could not justify. In the first game, Ellie pretty much kills people out of self defense but in this game she is the hunter. Most of her kills can still be attributed to survival but progressively more of her kills are unnecessary. Other characters start pointing out that the people she is killing are not so different from them and ask Ellie what Joel might have done to cause people to come after him. Ellie almost always brushes it off, looking for reasons to distinguish the people she kills from herself and the people she loves. She acknowledges that Joel hurt a lot of people but never seems to consider that the people who killed him had similar motives to her own. At first it seems like Ellie isn't aware of what Joel did at the end of the Last of Us, but then a flashback reveals she learned the truth before the beginning of the game. She already knew Joel killed the Fireflies. I thought she wouldn't learn the truth until later in the story and that would shift her perspective but she already knew. She is too emotionally driven by her hatred to care. Ellie eventually kills nearly everyone Abby cares about. Yet if she doesn't kill Abby, to her, it was all for nothing. She can't live without finishing it.

Playing as Abby starts off difficult. Even though I had begun to sympathize with her, I couldn't look past what she did to Joel. Playing as her doesn't undo her crimes but it shows them in a different context. Seeing all that she has lost and learning about her enemies perspective reveals not only her humanity but the humanity of others as well. Her journey is not only similar to Ellie's, by the end it is similar to Joel's. In many ways, by the end, Abby becomes a similar person to who Joel was in The Last of Us 1. Just like Joel, she carries guilt but lives to protect a child, a child that has come to represent hope for the future. Abby has the opportunity to kill Ellie but chooses mercy because she has seen her enemy clearly and knows killing her won't make things better. Even after being shown mercy though Ellie can't let go, she needs to complete her quest, years later she is haunted by it. Only after Ellie has Abby's life in her hands does she realize their similarity. She comes to a similar conclusion as Abby. She lets her go and lives with the loss and the consequences of what she has done

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Instead of just looking at all the negative responses to this game I've played through it at my own pace. Their are a few things I liked and others i did not. Heard about other people quitting playthroughs at about the 3 hour mark in this game, as most of you are aware a new character is introduced and happens to kill off a fan favourite from the first. At this point I've not even reached half way through this game so wanted to give it a chance. Anyway the Character in question is Abby and my only criticism of her character is the way her backstory is presented. It should of been introducing her character at the start of the game whilst swapping between her story up until the point Joel kills her dad, and Ellie & Joel's Story after the events of the first. We are forced to see Ellie find out the truth though flashback scenes, although great I would of rather find that out whilst exploring with Ellie & Joel and that would of added further ramifications into this game.

The same applies to Abbys story. I feel like even though they may not of done enough in her backstory i would of felt more for Abby if I understood the relationship she had with her dad and why she did what she did earlier in the game but you don't find this out until you've done Ellie's half of the story, thats 12 Bloody Hours. Come On Naughty Dog. Abbys own story then goes on for 12 hrs before a showdown and although I learn a lot about her charcter 12 hrs solely focusing on her im not only bored im genuinely uninterested in her character and the rest of her communities characters

Whatever Naughty Dog wanted me to feel ive not felt. I do not care that Joel Killed Abby's Dad and im supposed to feel something for this character. I really think if this happened later in the game and you understood what Abby did earlier and why I'd still hate the Character for killing a fan favourite but I'd understand her character more and why she did it. Instead you find out from the start and don't understand why until about 12-14hrs into the game. They Pitch this character as a second playable one, why would I care for her story when the first thing she does is kill a fan favourite.

Another issue happens to be Joel, Lets get thing straight Naughty Dog if the apocalypse was real then everyone knows full well that you wouldn't freely go back to her community without question youd take her back to your camp and question her, find out her intentions, not freely follow to then end up dead. Joel is a smart guy in the first game and it's seems like the guy completely forgot the one rule that he lives by in the first never trust anyone but he chooses to trust Abby because of a storm? Really, I mean Really? Come on Man!

Overall my final thought on the game is that its a great fantastic sequel with tension and the story of Ellie wanting revenge but coming out with nothing, no one is their, she's a broken character at the end and that hurts but it's her vengeance that tears everyone away from her and you feel that. A great overall game and story where you feel all the ramifications of your choices as Ellie.

I don't want to give anything away, but I think a lot of people are upset about something that happens near the beginning. It is meant to make you angry and set the stage for the rest of the game. It is far from an uplifting story, so I understand why it is so polarizing. The first game was about love and hope, while this game is about hate and loss. There are moments of sadness and parts where you don't like what the main character is doing, but that's all part of it. You will eventually hate characters you love and love characters you hate. It's part of the destructive nature of being blinded by rage. While this sounds bad, it is a story that is told very well. Also the gameplay is a lot of fun. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review does not come from a game critic, rather from a hardcore fan of both videogames and the experiences that Naughty Dog has provided.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that this game could have been so much more if just a little more thought was put into the story, maybe even some consideration for the fans that created the opportunity for a sequel in the first place. It is flabbergasting to see such a contrast in storytelling when comparing this mess to Uncharted or any other similar game.

The problem is not the death of Joel, rather the poor handling of it. The audience knows very well that Joel is not the hero of this story, however the direction this game took is contradictory at its base. Everyone who played the first game is supposed to care about the relationship between Joel and Ellie, so much so that it seemed fine for Joel to commit such a horrible act at the end of the first game. Therefore it seems astronomically idiotic to go on a opposite direction in the sequel. Introducing a character in such a way as Abby and then forcing the audience to play as her for half a game in order to justify her actions is meaningless. This is because there is not enough emotional investment or care (for a lack of better words) to incentivize sympathy. This second part of the game seems more like a slap to the face than anything simply because the first game was such a compelling story.

The gameplay is superb and immaculate details in the enviroment give this game much needed life. It is obvious to see the dedication that those departments had for the game; yet that also just shows how much better the game could have been with a more thoughful story. It is also quite ironic due to how both gameplay and story just needed to be built upon from the first game and yet one department succeeds and the other fails so hard at it.

On a basic level, this game provided an experience that no one wanted or liked (when I say no one, I mean the fans that gave so much praise to the first game).

I believe little changes in the story, that still kept it in the same direction, would have saved this disaster from happening. Something as small as killing Tommy instead of Joel at the start (making Joel and Ellie look for revenge, that inevitably causes the death of Joel at the half-way mark of the game) would have been so much better.

I do have to say that in a way they did a good job, because the entire audience feels the same anger that Ellie felt.

Joel dies way too fast in the story and the whole plot is exactly the same as the previous game itself. One thing I can say that is good is the graphics and artistry that Naughty Dog did but other than that I don't see the appeal to finish this game. From the lies that they published to the actual gameplay itself does not really satisfy me as a gamer. The plot and this random character you get to play as (Abby) has no place in last of us and now you get to see her in the second one? What? Sorry for the rant and the spoilers but the game doesn't live to its expectations. I mean realistically game or movie series don't usually follow up well with the original storyline but this one is astonishingly bad. Why the fudge are we playing as Abby and how can meta critic and other recognizable gaming review sites rank it this high? This just baffles me. With all this negativity there are some good features about this game though. One of them being exposing the LGBT community into video games, but it seems like this game used it as a marketing strategy. Another thing is that it obsesses a lot of emotional and real life situation that many experienced in real life and this really attracted me from the start. My final thing is that the physics and controlling the character is pretty accurate and exciting. Combat is fun and it didn't change and I salute them for that. Overall this game has more cons than pros and a game like this that changed my perspective of gaming really let me down. I hope anyone reading this feels the same or if you don't thats fine. I am glad there are some people enjoying this game but I am not one of those people unfortunately. Why couldn't we play as Joel till his death or his brother Tommy? I'll leave it at that. Thanks. Expand

How hard it is to kill the bigger zombies now. What I absolutely hated: It’s absolutely ridiculous how you guys play commercials about this game for four years now, saying it’s pretty much all about revenge, but when there was a chance for an actual revenge, Ellie pu**ied out. Twice. Like, what in the actual scared f*ck? So let me get this straight. It’s all about revenge. This whole game is about REVENGE. Where is the revenge? It’s gone, because Ellie is a coward now. I feel like I lost 27 hours to play this game, because you made it pointless. Goddamn it, Joel and Jesse DIED, Tommy lost his eye, Ellie lost her family and there is NO revenge for any of this. Bulls*it, mate. Do not get this game, it’s a waste of time and energy. Expand

I have just finished the game I thought it was very good, but understand why some people are upset the ending makes sense, in my opinion, but isn't what some people wanted. I would recommend playing this game, but be aware it's not a happy game and not really an adventure it's melancholy, if not straight up depressing. I don't feel like it was bitter sweet, like the first, and I doubt I can play through it again for a while if at all. I think the reason I liked it and others didn't was because I was able to empathize with a a character others could not. I can't fault them for that either.

Edit 1: TLDR: Still very enjoyable. the rating I should give it is a 9, but I won't to offset the abundance of 0s

I'm now at a little over 10 hours I think this game feels very much like the first. Some of the other reviews I saw pointed that out too. They seem to point to this as a negative, but I disagree. The first game was extraordinary, and I think this sequel continues this. It is visually beautiful and the dynamic between Ellie and Dina is enjoyable. It's different than that of the First, since the relationship to Ellie is very different. The story is still engaging. I was at the edge of my seat at a few points.
I do have a few issues however, there have been a few visual glitches and the game crashed once, which takes away enough enjoyment that I should take away a point. The only reason I am not is the excess of overly negative ratings. I can understand distaste for the story, but I don't think that is really why it is being barraged. Unless the story is so uninspired later I can't see any major complaints with the story. Sure a revenge plot can be called cliche, but there is enough of a hero's journey to enjoy.

TLDR: So far a very fun game

I've put in 2 hours and 30 minutes so far, so this rating may be subject to change, but I really don't see what people are complaining about. So far I'm invested in the story. One could argue that this could be a bias carried over due to falling in love with the characters in the original that caused this investment, but I am invested nonetheless. So far it feels like the Winter section of the original game in atmosphere, both physically and mentally.

When playing as Abby I just wanted for it to over. I understood the reason for making abby a playable character, but it just didn't bode well with hardcore fans of the first game. I didn't enjoy the story. To sum up The Last Of Us Part 2: It is a huge disappointment that leaves players unfulfilled in the end. To add, the best part of the game which was the game mechanics and gameplay, was a copy and paste of Uncharted 4. It is not a very good game. Expand

I really don't understand why people are giving this a bad review. It's some of the best storytelling in a video game ever, and the gameplay is excellent, period. The main theme of the game revolves around the futility of the human desire for revenge when aggrieved, and it handles the subject so masterfully it deserves to be in the pantheon of greatest games ever made, without the shadow of a doubt. A masterclass in graphics, attention to detail, and storytelling. I'll start by putting away all the "political" issues that some people seem to constantly bring up - in my view, games, music, cinema are all ways to express human culture and transmitting ideas. They should not be criticized on the basis of the ideas they try to defend, but on how well they are executed.

Going forward towards the game itself:

Graphics - Visually, the game is stunning in every aspect. In particular, I think it distinguishes itself more by having one of the best lighting I have ever seen in a videogame. For a detailed technical analysis of the game, I recommend that you see the Digital Foundry analysis. The only problem I noticed was that sometimes there is some noticeable texture pop-in, but it is minor and understandable when you try to have the most detailed environments ever in PS4. Only God of War can rival with TLOU2 in this department as far as PS4 games go.

Sound - Maybe not as impressive as the graphics, but it is top tier for sure. The voice acting is extremely good, just as in the first game. The environmental sounds plus the soundtrack are as immersive as they can be. The sound of the gunshots feel very powerful and realistic. No complaints in this department.

Gameplay - It is basically a refined version of the first game. The melee combat and the stealth feel better this time. The exploration is rewarding enough and the areas are much more open than in the first game. In my opinion, the gameplay is very solid and combined with the very good audiovisual design feels extremely entertaining.

Plot - I feel that the story and the character development are top notch. Contrary to claims by some people here, I think the game respects the original characters, who are now living in a different context and in a different time. Maybe, by having a very ambitious and expansive scope, it loses some focus at some points compared to the first game, which is more restricted and simple. However, it is something never tried in videogames before, it is well executed and, in my view, it works amazingly well overall.

I think this game is a masterpiece with few flaws. My rating would be 9.5/10.

PS: It might not work so well for some people, depending on each one's taste but certainly the game is not a 0/10 and no one doing a proper review would give such a score as it can be seen from the professional reviews. It is still helpful if you also look at proper reviews that criticize several aspects of the game like Skill Up, Polygon or Kotaku.

Everyone keeps saying that we’re mad because Joel is dead but it’s actually the WAY he died that’s annoying. The gameplay is good but some parts are really boring and the only new characters i liked were Yara and Lev (Dina and Jesse were okay but Yara and Lev were more interesting).
I don’t hate the game but i don’t love it either. The ending was just kinda meh. Why did Ellie have to kill all those people to just forgive Abby? It was very unsatisfying to see Ellie all alone without Dina, JJ and two of her fingers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are cool, the combat controls have been refined, and it's entertaining, but if you loved the original, and you were really invested in the characters and story, you're going to hate it. Not only do they do my man Joel dirty right off the bat, but they try to get you to empathize with his roided-out assailant for ten hours of arduous gameplay. I don't care about Abby.

There are really too many plot holes and contradictions to list here. I couldn't even make it through the game. I was angry the whole time I played it. Not even at the foes I was chasing. I'm angry at Naughty Dog. They ruined it.

It wasn't just the hack writing. They decided to push even harder with the wokeness and social commentary that we really don't want in our stories and games today. I'mm tired of the shoe-horning of cultural politics. It's smashed in face face everywhere now. Of course they have to emasculate Tommy and kill the toxic straight white male from the last game. OF COURSE!

The original TLOU and Left Behind were great! I don't mind strong female characters, nor do I mind homosexuality. But it just feels forced. The sexualizing of this game has just ruined it as well. I don't care for it. It gives it a weird feel.

There are just too many reasons why hate this game, but I'm not normally this disgusted. Can we have games and movies that aren't all about social commentary and shaming men? IDK. Waste of my money.

I don't want to judge the plot because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The production level is excellent and it is technologically a masterpiece.
However, I can only give it an 8 because Naughty Dog won't walk out of their comfort zones. Just like Uncharted 3 and 4 which are expansion packs of Uncharted 2. The last of us 2 plays exactly like the first one.
