This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I first hated Abby but now that I think about it. There is no “bad” or “good” person it is all about perspective. it’s obvious that Abby would kill Joel because he killed her dad. But in Ellie’s point of vue she just saw a woman killing someone that she loved. And if I was in Abby’s position I would have done the same thing. And the fact that Ellie didn’t kill Abby at the end makes the game even more depressing and I love it! Like if TLOU2 was just about Joel and Ellie that were still alive it would like the first fame except they were older Expand

Just a couple of minor gripes. The exploration/scavenging felt a bit tedious at times. Story pacing felt kind of off but it could be attributed to the length of time I took playing it. This game features the most intense and gripping combat I've experienced in a video game. The visuals, sound design and character animations were truly a step above.

I completed this game fully. Completion Time 18 Hours 52 minutes. I'm sure I did not 100% side objectives.

Graphics 4/10 Poor graphics, does not compare to any modern games except when it comes to character models. Questionable choice of artistic interpretation on what human beings actually look like. I will give some leeway as this is a PS4 title and not on a PC with a 2080 RT.

    Story -1/10
I'm almost positive whoever wrote the first Last of Us ( A Masterpiece) did not contribute much to this story. In the first game we got a masterpiece about a man connecting with another lost soul who symbolically took the place of his daughter. In the last of us 2 (no spoilers) left me feeling like the protagonist from "The last of us" should have handed Ellie over to government researchers instead of allowing her character to become a cheap version of a HBO breast exposing movie character from the 1990s designed to appeal to the 2020 kink audience.

    Gameplay 2/10
The game plays like an out of date cinematic title similar to what going back and replaying Resident Evil (The original) feels like in the current year, albeit slightly Better.

    Originality 4/10
The game tried a new take on the genre focusing more heavily on the intimate relationships of oppressed minorities in a post apocalyptic genre. I'll give it some points for trying but it was poorly executed, although it was an original take.

    Overall 2/10
The flaws cannot be overlooked, I found myself wanting to put the game away after 2 hours. I only completed it so I could give it a fair review. Games like this are why progressive themes are hated in games. Not because of the message, but because of the poor execution and unrealistic portrayal of stereotypes instead of living breathing humans as characters.

Now for the story, it is definitely divisive. If you want a happy roadtrip across post apocalyptic America, this ain't it. If you're able to be empathetic and open minded to a unique story that asks a lot of moral questions, then this IS it. The maps are massive. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well. This is not the game that we all have been waiting for for several years. Yes. This is not the same chemistry in the relationship of Joel and Ellie. Yes. There are too many female characters and pregnant women. Yes. Neil from the first two hours of the game twists your eggs, putting them on a golf club. You go through all the stages of accepting the inevitable. You do not believe what is happening and you think that everything will work out, now Ellie will wake up by that very girl, and this is all a dream. But ... no ... Anger takes possession of you and you hate everyone who does not allow you to go further in the story. Then you start arguing that it would be better if Ally returned with her friend back to Jackson and healed happily, but the ghost of Joel will not let us go. This is shown in the game itself, but closer to the end. After you are forced to fight with Ellie herself, you fall into a real depression from what is happening, because you understand that this will lead you to sad consequences for the beloved heroine. But then ... After 30 hours of gameplay .. And re-passing, you understand that yes, there are a lot of mistakes and strange decisions, but hell ... what a cool ADULT it was an adventure. Thanks for playing the entire Naughty Dog team. Neil, don’t do this anymore with the players)) And thanks to Google Translate for the translation. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is different and feels deep. This game is unique in its very own and has given me an impression that I have never actually gotten from any other game. In such an apocalypse, madness is a thing and therefore fear, sorrow, indefinite loss and revenge definitely has its place. Not everything is smooth in reality and things can hurt sometimes. Joel killed so many people to save Ellie in the first part, and that is okay for you haters??? This game proves that everything has its consequences, no matter how painful they are. The leaks spoiled this game. If you read the leaks and that say the game is bad without playing it, you will never get the meant to be experience. It is just like, if you knew Iron-man was going to die in End Game beforehand, you would most likely hated the movie, easily hated it. And that's because you loved him. But since you watched the movie and let the movie lead you to it, you felt it and understood it. Same here. So this game is a must play, and deserves a chance to be understood. If you saw some description of a scene from a leak and say that you can't face it, I have nothing else but to say that you are a **** in front of reality. Expand

I see where they were wanting to go, but to me, that part was boring, and I just hurried through to get back to the good stuff, which then when I did and was ready for something big to happen and to really start the game it was over. It stunningly looks good, one of the best games I've seen, and plays really good, didn't have many glitches, went through the walls a few times, but over all really good, it's the story that sucks, which the sucky parts is half the game. I do like that Mel is voiced by Ashly Burch, she always does a great job. I myself, took vacation to play this game, and I feel like it was a waste, not worth the full $60.00 price.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to even begin with this one. I’ll start with I was so inclined to get my thoughts about this game out, that I created a Metacritic account. So here goes;

The Last of Us 2 feels as pretentious as it is shallow. It’s a slog of murder porn mixed with a paint by numbers “violence begets violence” plot that you can see coming from a mile away. It forces characters upon you that you’re clearly supposed to care about, but how can you when they’re so paper thin? Think of Star Wars in recent years - those types of characters they introduce and you’re immediately supposed to love them without any real reasoning.

I won’t say I didn’t enjoy some of my time with the game because I did...albeit that was very early on in the experience before the rinse repeat style gameplay just became a slog. Here’s what you’ll be doing throughout TLOU2; Cutscene>Walk around corridor area with dialogue>collect ammo/upgrades/craft ales/collectibles>walk through invisible barrier that spawns enemies into sandbox arena (sometimes a second enemy encounter after the first). Then you repeat them in some fashion. And that’s it.

While on the subject - the pacing isn’t very good. It starts out a bit slow then ramps up quickly...but by the time the first act is wrapping up you’ll have seen more cutscenes than are in most games. It’s not Metal Gear level but you’ll need to keep in mind you’re watching this game as much as you are playing it.

The plot - shallow and boring. Your basic violence is bad and nobody wins story. After a while, the shock factor just kind of loses all impact and it becomes almost comically overdone. Once you’ve committed your 10000th murder with the ol camera zoom in effect with an enemy with his face falling off it just sorta loses it’s impact, you know? And on the subject - that final fight with Ellie vs. Abby I was rolling my eyes and laughing. You can literally FEEL the Tryhard oozing from your screen throughout the entire experience and by the end you’re just beaten over the head with it. Abby’s dad was the surgeon from part 1...I’m sure the writers stayed up countless nights coming up with that mind altering twist. Barf.

Characters - anything lovable or redeemable about the original characters has been stripped away and reduced them to one dimensional murder beasts. Joel is probably the most likable out of the bunch and we all know what happens to him early on. Well, if you don’t take into account the constant flashback scenes that are peppered throughout the game which serve no value other than a masking the fact they wanted to include yet another cutscene. Owen’s voice acting sounds like the dude was sedated while recording. His delivery was the most bland, uninspiring bit of dialogue I’ve heard in a video game in a while. And all of Abby’s crew including herself we’re supposed to feel for and connect with and why? Just because.

The actual gameplay was fun for a bit until you realize just how uninspired and easy it really is. It’s a sandbox style arena encounter with multiple enemies where you get to take them out how ever you’d like. Guns blazing, quietly, or anywhere in between. There are other games that have done this type of combat so much better and by the end you realize you can just lay in the grass and murder everyone because the enemy AI is absolutely atrocious.

What you’re left with at the end of the day is a really gorgeous looking and sounding game. This aspect was a total homerun and I sincerely hope those that worked on these aspects of the game could see and hear this. The visual and audio fidelity in this game is second to none on the PS4 and there were times in which my brain was having a hard time remembering this was a video game I was looking at. Bravo to those groups! If I was basing my score on just these two aspects it would be 11 out of 10!

Unfortunately, the story, the gameplay, the characters all fell flat on their faces and not just fell, but down the stairs breaking every bone in their body until they were a bloody heaping mess (to keep in theme with this game). Feels like the creative vision of TLOU2 was to make a movie rather than a game, I mean we did have a gratuitous sex scene in there after all (yet again, I laughed during this...) so perhaps those directors can talk to HBO and see if they can start their movie or TV series production careers. They obviously are more concerned about this than making a video game that’s fun, meaningful, and doesn’t come off as contrived. It feels more like a fanfiction than a true sequel to the original game.

I think TLOU2 is a clear example of what happens when a creative team’s head gets overinflated due to past successes and loses sight of their core audience. It’s a real shame too because they had such a great opportunity here, but squandered it we can only assume to make a point. But what in the hell was that point exactly?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's get something clear first. I have played this game from beginning to end. I just finished it today so the entire experience is as fresh in my mind as it's going to be. Frankly, it's getting extremely tiring at this point that the mainstream gaming media, naughty dog, and others such as the game's voice actors are blaming the extremely poor audience scores for this game as being caused by "bots" or people who've never played the game or have any intention to. I played the game. I'm an actual human being, not a bot. I've owned TLOU1 for years, both the original PS3 version and remastered. It's one of the best games I've ever played. With that said, TLOU2 most certainly is not.

As much as I tried to go into this with an open mind, and I tried extremely hard to be open minded about what Naughty Dog has done with the story of this game... I just couldn't really get past a lot of the glaring issues with this game's narrative. The game does have redeeming qualities and it deserves to be scored higher than say a 3 or 4. For some examples of the game's positive aspects -- the visual fidelity is genre defining and the best I've seen on a console, right up there with other titles like RDR2 or Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game also gets a lot of the finer details right. The gore and violence is some of the most realistic and unnerving I've ever seen in a game. Blowing a human or infected up with a pipe grenade looks like something straight out of "Saving Private Ryan". It is gruesome and extremely grounded in reality. The exploration is much more fleshed out in TLOU2 than TLOU1. There's sections that feel more open-ended, with some open-world elements, and due to that it feels less linear than the original did. Furthermore, the sounds and weather effects are extremely impressive. Firearms sound powerful and realistic, and a lot of games get this wrong...TLOU2 does not.

But sadly, we're already onto the negatives. This game has serious flaws in it's story-telling, and how it weaves it's narrative. The pacing is all over the place, especially in the first 5-6 hours where it's dreadfully slow. Up until you get to seattle, the intro to the game is long, boring and feels like an overdone tutorial section. As far as the story and conclusion, I'm struggling really hard to find any redeeming qualities that would let me put it up on the same pedestal as TLOU1. This game isn't a masterpiece as the critics are panning it. It's just not, and if you're being objective you know this isn't a 10/10 game. Sadly I don't think many critics are being objective with regard to this game. The game unravels pretty much all the core redeeming qualities from the first game and it tries extremely hard to tear down the original characters and build up new ones but fails in the process. By the end of the game, I felt zero sympathy for Abby or what she's suffered from and it's because of her utter lack of remorse and general actions that make me feel that way. She's a terrible human being, and even her closest "friends" remind her of this on several occasions. Ellie is pushed to do terrible things, but the entire time you see her struggling with her morality. You never once see that with Abby. As far as Joel's outcome, I think it was an utterly shallow ending to his story. It could've been executed in a much better way. Joel has wronged people, and has sinned himself. Killing him off isn't out of the question, but the way in which Naughty Dog went about his story is just insulting to fans everywhere.

The predominant feeling I had upon finishing the game is that I felt taken advantage of by Naughty Dog. I feel confused, torn, manipulated and lied to with clever tactics and trailer editing. I didn't feel enlightened. I didn't feel sad. I didn't feel angry. I just felt.... sort of used and abused. And I can't help shake that feeling. Like I said, the game has redeeming qualities and it's gameplay loop is enjoyable, albeit the game feels about 8-10 hours longer than it truly needs to be and because of the pacing issues, it starts to really drag later on. If you can get past the story's glaring weaknesses, it's worth playing through the game at least once. The stellar graphics and finer details will provide some enjoyment in between the dreadfully depressing and lackluster story beats. Is it a masterpiece? No, not even close. It doesn't even hold a candle to TLOU1. Is it utter trash, or the worst game ever made? Not quite. It's a game that couldn't live up to the incredibly high standards of the original, and it suffers for it in the end. It's an OK video game... it's a terrible The Last of Us game. As cliche as that sounds. I just felt compelled to write this review after reading so much trash about how all these negative reviews must be the result of bots. No, we're human beings too. We just expected better.

The game is amazing. Really ambitious, and even when it may have some flaws in its pacing and some gameplay mechanics, overall it's a masterpiece. It engages you and makes you feel so many emotions as few games have ever done. Its something you definitely must experience on your own, and let it fill you and immerse you in the story.

When I first finished the first TLOU I wished Naughty Dog wouldn’t make a sequel to Joel and Ellie’s story, because how could they follow that up? TLOU part 2 story blew me away. They really did manage to create a wonderful, painful, follow up. And on the gameplay department, it perfected everything from the first game. 10/10

Narrative - The change to a serious theme was very welcome, something I usually miss a little in ND games. This time characters choices made a massive impact on the story.

Gameplay - TLoU 1 but better, main additions is that now you can prone (discovered how it it actually was mid game), and you can dodge now, making melee combat ok.

Difficult Design - this game has a lot of customization on different aspects of gameplay, resources to find, enemies awareness, limit on actions you can make (some stealth kills are not allowed on higher difficulties), how much allies will help you in combat.

Accessibility - A lot of options on in game feedback, from itens radar to magnifying parts of the screen, ultra contrast for enemies, sound feedback. Some come really in hand.

Subtitles - you can have subtitles yellow.

Trophies - as a casual player this is very welcome, but can understand some people getting upset, there are no more trophies for completing the game on each difficulty, you get only one for completing the game, and now there are less stupid ones, like finding every audio interaction with npcs (thank god).

Gameplay time SPOILER FOR SOME PEOPLE--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I played almost twenty five hours for the first play through (for a linear game.... oh boy), the game seems to never and, and trying to play in one go can and probably will make you sick, so I recommend playing a In game day or so per real day (just an personal recommendation), as it will also help in getting that intense story more spaced.

Final Thoughts - With this kind of direction I would play even if the main character was a schizophrenic clown, that in reality was a dead cat's nightmare

hope we can have a tlou p3 or a Joel prequel some day

Forget about the leaks, SJWs, anti-SJWs, deceptive marketing and all the noise that surrounds a big part of this game's criticism. The bulk of it's problems are it's lack of focus, poor pacing and, ultimately, a poor consideration of what made the original story and the characters not perfect, but great and relatable.

This game has a lot of good qualities. From it's impressive visuals, sound fidelity, visceral combat (on high difficulties), highly detailed vast environments and some really tense moments, The Last of Us Part II significantly improves almost every technical aspect of the original, making the artists the real stars of this show.

However, these qualities aren't enough to carry a broken, messy story, as the game tries to undo notions about some of it's characters, and spends a lot of time brushing through themes that were already best presented in the first game, while also bringing new themes every now and again without time for proper reflection.

For an example, there's a lot of story and gameplay time used at an attempt to redundantly show and equalize "both sides of a coin" – which is not a complicated or new concept, especially after the winter and ending section of the first game – while forgetting the player is already, understandably, biased towards the side they spent the most time connecting to. This concept is made clear pretty soon, but the creators think it's necessary for you to see a whole lot more of it, all while drawing some less effective, fanfiction-like parallels to reinforce what's already obvious and control some of the damage they did themselves. Not to mention, without getting into spoilers, that the main catch of the ending only gets to develop throughout 9-10 hours or so of this twenty plus hours long game, making most of what's been played seem even more unnecessary for the overall resolution, even more if you think that characters had plenty of time to reflect on what they're about to do.

By watching and reading interviews, it definitely seems like Naughty Dog wrote big chunks of this story long after starting development, without a solid backbone to base their decisions on, flip-flopping time and time again about what the core of the game is. Characters only seem to have clear-cut intentions and ideas when writers consider it necessary to deflect criticism about character actions. Otherwise, their motivations are an open-ended world of complex possibilities where you fill the gaps the writers left open.

In short, this sequel will stick with you long after you finish it, but probably because it leaves you wondering what it could have been if writers didn't recklessly place most of their bets in it's eye-rolling shortcomings.

I respect that Naughty Dog is willing to take risks and craft stories they think will be impactful. But when that story is executed in amateur fashion, isn't enjoyable, and destroys everything players love about the first game, Naughty Dog had better be prepared for the backlash. For the first time in my long gaming career, I will now act with caution whenever Naughty Dog releases another game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The disappointment coming from the last of us part 2 is huge. In my opinion the game deserves a 4/10 or a 6/10 at best. That from it's stunning graphics and for its new mechanics. After that the story is bad, it could have been way better. There's a million ways to rewrite the story to make it better, but it is what it is. The death of Joel could have been a very interesting and good way to set the story but the way it was handled made it just be there for the shock value that it would give. His death is at the beginning of the game, a couple hours in. If his death would have been after we have had some sort of empathy to the new character Abby, and we would have known her backstory maybe the story would have been great. Also, if we had gotten Abby and Ellie to grow close and then she finds out who Joel is would have served better to the story, or to have a situation were Abby is the one who has to be conflicted because she has grown close to them. Then we could have seen a way better death for Joel and give it more meaning to Ellie who just the night before had told Joel that she wanted to forgive him. Joel's death was handled the worst way possible, Tommy and Joel are portrayed way dumber than in the first game. They fall right into their trap and notice until Joel gets shot in the knee. The characters that we now from the first game are smart and would have never fall in this sort of trap. The Tommy and Joel from the first game would have had their hands on their guns from the moment they got off their horses because they don't trust these new guys. In the first game you have the scene with the hunters where Joel doesn't hesitate to run over the guy that was "injured". Additionally, we see Joel throughout the flashbacks and he hasn't forgotten how to deal with the infected. Then when Ellie sets out to get revenge over Joel's death, that part of the game was good. But after Abby surprises you at the theater they kill off Jesse who was a great character and deserved better as did Joel. In that moment you get a cliffhanger in which seems that Abby is going to kill Ellie and you transition to Abby's backstory. I felt like i didn't give a **** about the game anymore. I was going to play as Abby who killed one of my favorite characters in video games. Then you get the 10+ hours of game play as Abby that feels like a bunch of side quests and pointless **** that you have to do. There are some cool set pieces like the one where you're going on the horse through the town that is on fire. But at that moment I still didn't care about what could happen to Abby. After that we come back to the present at the theater and proceed to chase Ellie as Abby and beat her down. In this section of the game I would have liked for the game to have alternate endings. One that would let you kill Abby as Ellie in the theater. Also, how did it cross their minds that I as a player would be rooting for Abby when we have had Ellie since the first game and have been loving her character from then on. So in the game you have to chase Ellie down as Abby and beat the ever-living **** out of Ellie and Dina. It breaks my that this game had screwed over Ellie and Joel as much as it did. I get the approach but how are you going to make me try and emphasize with Abby when she killed a beloved character. The last part of game play I think was there because they wanted to make the game longer. Elie looses her family for going after Abby again and at that point the game felt good again, the story bothered me but playing as Ellie again gave me certain happiness. But the final boss battle against Abby feels good and the best they could have for the game. But what doesn't make sense is Ellie's decision to let Abby go. She had come all this far killing everyone in her path and at last she let's Abby go. I get that she remembered Joel and that he probably wouldn't have wanted this but this doesn't fit as the Ellie we have been playing. After losing two fingers in the battle with Abby she goes back home. At this point she tries to play the guitar, the only thing that's left from Joel and she can't play it. The flashback here is very good. This on and the one in the museum are very good but after that we come back to reality where Ellie has lost everything and that's were the game ends. This **** up story tries make Joel the bad guy by trying to emphasize with Ellie. That with the first game is a bad idea because we know Joel isn't a saint and we get to know the old Joel who has done terrible things to survive. In spite of that we still love him and Ellie, so this game doesn't work from that aspect. I truly was saying at the beginning this is going to be great, and throughout saying maybe it will better but it doesn't. We waited seven years for this game and we got a beautiful and stunning game with okay controls and a story as bad as it could get. to me the first game didn't need a sequel and it ended where it should have. My disappointment is huge. Expand

I believe that Neil Druckman should have made Abby story into a mini game for finishing the Main story.
It could have been a bonus game story to play, if the player want too.
By taking out Abby from the main game. The game would have not felt, so long and dragging.

For example: When you finish the main campaign, and the title screen tell you "You can replay the game with game Plus blah...blah..." a second message pop up. Also, for finishing the main campaign you now unlock "Abby story". This way the player can choose to play Abby story till the End.

I also feel the ending should have 2 ending. One giving you the choose to kill Abby, and a Second choose to let Abby go. I feel that Abby has suffer enough by the end of the game for killing Joel.

If you kill Abby in the end of the main story, on Abby story she dies, if you let her go on Abby Story she lives.

I was pretty disappointed with the game, and I have been one of their longest fans. I bought 3 consoles for this and saw the original game on the gameinformer magazine cover back in March 2012, and fell in love instantly over the idea.

Let me be clear: I am accepting of all people and that doesn't play into why I didn't like the game. You can't play the first one and the Left Behind DLC to the first game and not already be accepting of those things.

The story was not what we were supposed to get, a continuation of the first game with more character development. The second one doesn't end in a way that makes you fulfilled or find meaning and appreciation for the game. The game mechanics and visuals were very improved and I was pretty impressed. But the plot wasn't very good, and leaves a hole in my heart. Naughty dog seemed to disown their TLOU 1 fans and just tried forcing you to empathize with other people in very unnatural ways that you clearly weren't going to accept.

Game mechanics improved greatly, much more stuff you can do, better maneuverability, visuals, etc (except for the use of scopes which wasn't nearly as good as the first game). Story was pretty garbage, and while I'm totally accepting of people, the only time they introduced controversial identity politics was for plot devices that drive the game, probably because in the real world it's a bigger deal. I find it hard to believe anyone would care about these issues in an apocalypse. I didn't care, but it felt like I was getting a stern talking to the whole time and that characters were intentionally portrayed as stuck in their ways so they could be transformed, and there wasn't much meaning, surprise, or artistic expression in that sense. There are actual chunks of the game with super predictable plot. Pretty frustration.

The attention to detail was just incredible, the fighting, mini puzzles etc were all spot on. Unfortunately my experience was dampened by the killing of Joel within the first hour of the game! Like firstly he deserved far more imo. The entirety of the part 1 was spent investing in his character and it left us wanting more. The story follows a revenge plot but dragged on for soo long that i litteraly didnt care by the end! I was over it. To some extent playing as Abby was a genius idea but I feel the order the story follows could of been executed a lot better. I do believe Joel had to die but I felt this would have been better achieved later in the play through. Expand

The game comes with it's fair share of issues, the first that i ran into was animation skipping or jumping (Game skips frames of animation during cutscenes or action that are taken like pushing open a door, hopping over cars or tables. the second issue i had when playing the game is with Melee and hand-to-hand combat, the camera freaks out and you lose control of the camera if you dodge while moving the right stick sometimes. the 3rd issue i ran into was texture glitches, parts of flowing water were Yellow when flowing and i frequently saw wall and fire textures glitching all over the place. thats pretty much it for issues based on what i saw. The Story was kinda Convoluted at times, for example why have Lev go to the Seraphites island to talk to his mother knowing full well what that outcome was gonna be, or why have Tommy be alive when he was clearly shot in the head (to me it looked like he got hit directly). but to end off this review, i would like to give this game a 6.5 to a 7 out of 10. Joel’s death, while underwhelming and a little too early in the story, it was realistic and bada** in a way. A group of people hunted him down, leaving their own people just for revenge, while I’m still sad about Joel’s end, I think it was the right decision to open the game with.

Ellie’s journey from the wanting revenge to finding family with Dina to losing everything for revenge on Abby, that she later learns it is not necessary, and Abbys relationship with Lev is a parallel to her and Joel, was beautiful and well crafted story arch. Then the bold decision of having playing Abby for half the game. The first chapter I was pissed off, but as I continued I found her heart and her character and I grew to like her (although I still wanted her dead the entire game). Her relationship with Lev, like I said, did parallel Ellie and Joel in a different slightly twisted way, and I loved it.

The final conclusion did leave a weird taste in my mouth, with Ellie not fulfilling what she left her family to do and having her end this story alone was a unique choice. And having Abby live was a surprise that I still do not know if I want, but I will accept. I understand why people aren’t happy with the conclusion or the addition of playing Abbys story, but I still believe that the story was brilliant and a true masterpiece. As far sequels go this exceeded my expectations and more.

Also to add, the criticism of the lesbian story line is just ridiculous. We live in a world that this should not bother anyone and it is not pushing an agenda. This is the new normal and people either need to accept it, or just grow up and learn to ignore it.

I was kind of conflicted at first on how to feel about this game but rethinking it and letting it sit for a while helped me better understand the game. I will probably never play this game all the way through again but instead revisit some of my favorite parts from the game. I thought the ending with the Joel flashback was very touching and moving and honestly brought me to tears. The gameplay was even better than the first one due to new mechanics and puzzle solving segments that made the game feel fresh and the side missions were a nice add on to the game For an example I loved the music shop scene where Ellie sings take on me I thought that was a very good scene and very moving. This game was meant to be sad, Emotional and moving. I think this game told a good story but however lacked certain things like good pacing, a mediocre timeline with way too many flashbacks and Upon other things. The best moment in the game was when Joel said “I would do it all over again” referring to saving Ellie which was the right thing to do that’s just my perspective however and it’s a big however I didn’t like Ellie ending up alone and the third one not being planned could leave so many possibilities open and could potentially ruin it however I hope not. One of the last things I wanted to touch on was the beautiful soundtrack from Gustavo just like the first one was very badass and definitely help set certain tones for this game. Things that need to be done though are-

1.drop the Abby storyline for the next sequel
2.PLEASE let Ellie have a happy ending in the next game and let her move on but still remember Joel
3.continue the story in Jackson with Ellie returning.
4.Last and certainty not least continue the story with Ellie and continue her relationship with Dina and allow Tommy and Ellie to bond more in the third one.

I had fun playing the game till a point. Now I get trying for us to sympathize with the villain was the goal, or something The twist really didn’t stick the landing, but maybe a game before this game would have done a better job.

Hate the lying pr department even now not owning up,I’m happy I didn’t buy the game and just borrowed it from a friend who didn’t want me to waste money.

Gameplay wise enjoyable improve since the first game solid 8. I spent all my time on the guitar and have not moved past that point because I’m having more fun with the guitar. Too bad this is an apocalyptic Guitar hero.

This is my response to the homophobes attempting to review-bomb this relatively good game. Y'all can go do some unsavory things to yourselves.

While yes, the developers killed off Joel, you need to understand not only why the developers made that choice, but why Abby as a character was so motivated to do so.
While we can sympathize with him and try to minimize his actions, what Joel did to the Fireflies was an objectively horrible act that prevented the world from being saved for his own selfish desire to have a daughter figure back. Even Joel knows this, considering he lied to Ellie for so long about it. While I didn’t want Joel to die, that’s why I personally felt motivated to engage in Ellie’s borderline suicidal pursuit for revenge. It was not the period of events we wanted, but it was one vital to the progression of Ellie’s character.
I’ve heard complaints of how characters act “out of character” in this game, which is not true at all. The world of TLOU is not a world for pure protagonists. Taking Ellie as the main character being targeted by this critique, she is an incredibly traumatized young woman living in a world of constant fear and danger. It’s entirely unrealistic to expect her to be anything less than majorly flawed.
In Abby’s story, I found the humanization of those I had previously hated to be a very unique and cognitively challenging hurdle to get over. I killed these people earlier as Ellie, and now they appear as more than targets. They’re allies and friends. Abby’s story pulls more from the original game than Ellie’s story does. It’s a bunch of new characters rediscovering a feeling of purity and innocence only for that to be squashed by the events of the world around them. It’s an incredibly sad and effective tale that causes even more distress when I have to pin the two against each other.
For people criticizing the writing of the dialogue, all I’m going to ask is what did you get out of the first game that the dialogue of this one was so ‘bad’?
I saw one comment about the game getting ‘political’. What? What’s political about the game? The fact that Ellie’s gay? How’s someone’s sexual preference a political take?
The only reason I don’t give the game a 10 is because of the way the epilogue was rolled out. While I really liked the epilogue as a whole, it felt like the game was going to end like 15 times before the rattler sequence. Also the concept of super evil guys that just like torturing people for fun I a post-apocalyptic zombie-like apocalypse is a dumb trope, but neither of these are major issues by any stretch of the imagination.

My personal opinion is that games should not be used to push social or political agendas. Even then, this game fails to have the writing and story that actually moves forward their agenda in a positive way. Very disappointed in Naughty Dog for what they've done to the industry.

The game is beautiful, only the plot is bad in it, and a small LGBT agenda. The graphics, gameplay, the development of small details are all on the level. But the plot, and especially its ending, upsets.Шевцов был прав братья, оценка у игры будет нормальной только к июлю.

A disrespect to the fans who expected more for the characters. Weak history and is visibly hampered by ideological propaganda that is practically pushed down the throat. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
