    This is a poor game of revenge. No one acts like they did before. Joel and Ellie act like they dropped a few IQ points since the first game. The theme of humans are the real monsters falls apart since it feels completely contrived. The theme of 'revenge never pays off' falls apart since the clear villain of the game gets everything she wants by the end of it. For a better game of revenge,This is a poor game of revenge.     I waited 6 years for it and was absolutely blown away by the 1st game when i was 13. Now 19, my love has not changed. I never saw the leaks, i have been watching trailers,teasers since 2016. This game has very misleading trailers and the reviewers were allowed to talk only about the 1st half of the game based on the early copy agreement. ND gave fans the perspective that this is a revengeI waited 6 years for it and was absolutely blown away by the 1st game when i was 13. Now 19, my love has not changed.     ND talked about how this game is about honouring Joel and Ellie which is not true at all. They completely changed the last of us for the sake of telling a dark conflicted profound story but the execution was not good. If you love the characters in the 1st game, i recommend you not to play it cuz it is so disrespectful to fans. If you want a conflicting morale story with politics included, you may enjoy it. Even then you will find the pacing of the game bad and your interest in playing it will decline and you would just want to see the ending which is unsatisfying making the whole story and new game + pointless.

    The game director said fun is not a word to describe the last of us 2 so if you are looking for a fun game, this is not it.

    You might like characters but you will find it pointless to cuz of the story.

    The gameplay , graphics, mechanics, voice acting are all amazing but the story fails and the last of us 1 was known for its beautiful story.


    If you love tlou1 characters especially, let their story in your mind end there. If you are curious ,watch on youtube Joel confession to Tommy and Joel sings to Ellie, Ellie's museum birthday, Joel and Ellie guitar strings , Joel confession to Ellie,Joel Jackson party, Ellie talks about Joel decision.

    Watch it in the this order.

    If you love and care about the Joel Ellie Tommy relationship , do not play TLOU2.

    When asked which game I preferred, the first or second one, I can honestly say I do not know. The games have such different goals. The first shows the development of a father and daughter relationship, whilst the second one examines the effects of anger and grief. TLOU2 is a brilliant: the graphics are amazing, the story line is solid and it kept me on my toes.     "The game where they kill your loved ones and do nothing" Part 2. How is it possible that they completely forget to develop the story and only focus on a person's sexuality. Who the hell asked for gender identity in the characters when people just loved the story? Terrible and I will never buy from this video game company again.

    In the end, I think the experience is highly rewarding and truly unique. Rarely has a game provide such a rounded, multi-angle insight of all the different characters of a world, and not just one side’s struggle or heroics.
    The story consistently reiterating a theme that was present since the ending of TLOU 1: Is this killing OK? Shouldn’t I try to save this person? What if that means    In the end, I think the experience is highly rewarding and truly unique. Rarely has a game provide such a rounded, multi-angle insight of all the different characters of a world, and not just one side’s struggle or heroics.
    The story consistently reiterating a theme that was present since the ending of TLOU 1: Is this killing OK? Shouldn’t I try to save this person? What if that means killing someone else? Sometimes there are just no good choices.
    There is a huge twist somewhere in the game that the developer took a big gamble on, and I believe a lot of the controversy or hate of the game came from there. But that very same twist is also what makes this game so rewarding. The complex emotional journey I experienced playing it would not be possible without that twist.
    Gameplay-wise, some levels dragged on a bit long; I wish there was less time spent scavenging but overall a largely exciting, mainly-steath gameplay that allowed considerable freedom in most levels.
    Bottom line: I would recommend this game wholeheartedly to anyone who appreciates a gripping, dark, unique, and emotional experience rather than a one-sided 'hero' journey.    … Expand

    Прошёл игру и она мне понравилась. Задумка Дракмана - бомбезна. Сюжет подаётся как хорошее кино. Геймплейно тоже претензий нет. Это первая часть с новыми фишками.

    This game it isn't perfect, but most of the people that have posted horrible ratings, haven't even played the game, so that's why I put a 10, so the people that see the ratings don't have a bad first impression, the ending isn't that bad, yeah it could be better obviously, but it dosen't deserve the toxicity of all this xbox ****

    This is a great sequel worthy of The Last of Us. Don’t listen to the review bombing saying “ItS bAd WrItIng”. It’s excellent, emotional, complicated storytelling. A few minor quibbles keeps it from being a ten (e.g., it’s a little dark, there’s too many human enemies to infected enemies). Overall, Naughty Dog knocked it out of the park.

    1)Some argue that Ellie killed so many people to get to Abby but then let her go.

    It is because she sees JOEL in Abby. Had she killed Abby then Lev wouldn’t get the same care she got as kiddo.

    People argue that Joel could sense ambush but he & Tommy walked straight in to an ambush in TLOU2

    This game happens years after TLOU. There are lot of people who travel the country to do trade with a settlement

    Joel traded a lot & He could have assumed Abby's group as traders

    Why Ellie goes again after Abby?

    It's not just because of Tommy visiting them but Ellie's own trauma of losing Joel brutally haunts her.

    So she wishes to end it by confronting and killing Abby or being killed. But she sees Joel in Abby and so she let's her go and finds peace.

    It's Abby who actually loses more than Ellie in #TLOU2

    Like many even I hated to play the game as Abby from day 1. But as the story progressed it became intense.

    Every QTE scared me.
    I wanted both Ellie & Abby to live. That's what this game does.

    В целом можно было бы и так но дизайн некоторых персонажей подкачал:
    (Эбби - ужасна по определению, Дина - не так красива по сравнению с актрисой, игравшей ее, Джоэл - пускай и постарел по сюжету, но выглядит слишком уж плохо, особенно по отношению к певой части)
    "повестку" не рассматриваю в принципе тк это тупо и если у тебя есть голова на плечах то ты сможешь понять что эта (повестка) ни на что не влияет

Last Of Us Part II is a good game, story wasn't as powerful as the first installment and killing Joel was a huge disappointment but at the same time I can understand why Neil Druckmann made that decision to let Ellie's character and story evolve. You also get to play as Abby and Naughty Dog tried to make you see her side of the story and understand there is no good guys in Last Of Us, however I'm too stubborn and Joel is one of my all time favorite characters so she can go suck a d***. Also the other side characters aren't very likable. Dina is a pain. Mel is a whiny b****, Manny isn't funny and Owen is one of the most vanilla characters.

    The graphics are way ahead of it's time and I did have fun playing this game. My huge problem with it is the ending. The ending made the whole game pointless and gave Abby the better ending compared to Ellie. I would of rather the ending have been a dream like Dallas and Joel is still alive.

    Was it the game I wanted? Graphics 100% Controls and Crafting 100% even the world they had from the original was 100% but if tweaks had been made to the storyline then this game would of been a proud sequel to one of the greatest games ever made.    … Expand

In the past, Spielberg has said that video games don't move audiences the same way as movies; I think this game disagrees with him (and I'd hope he'd agree with that). I think the evidence is present in the ridiculously low scores more than the higher ones. I'm hopefully staying clear of spoilers when IA great way of making a point. For those of you taking those 0s and 1s out of 10 into consideration I'll ask you this: how can a game with such incredible graphics, attention to details and game-play have a 0? Many will scoff and say the game's writer has done something very wrong at the start. It's a dystopian future, one where the character's decisions have lawless consequences. If you liked the first game and are interested in this one then just play it. Make your own mind up; all I'd suggest is playing it all the way through before reviewing it. Many (not all) of these 0s and 1s seem to have appeared within the game's first day of release. It took me just over 30 hours to complete the game.… Expand

    Je viens de finir le jeu. Un belle évolution sur tous les aspects... J'ai besoin encore de plus de temps pour accepter et comprendre les choix scénaristiques...

    Le 1er TLOU reste meilleur...

    Ma vraie note est 7/10 mais j'ai donné 10/10 à cause des haters qui n'ont pas joué au jeu et qui distribuent des 0 gratuitement.

    O impossível se tornou real com essa sequência. Quem ia imaginar que TLOU seria superado em absolutamente todos os aspectos? Da trama densa e impactante ao visual que é uma verdadeira pintura, temos um gameplay refinadíssimo, que evoluiu em tudo o que a ND fez nos ultimos anos. O jogo simplesmente não tem defeitos, algo raro nos dias de hoje. Que venha a parte 3!

    I enjoyed the game a lot! The visual part of the game is just awesome!
    The created world is very atmospheric. The game is much darker than the first part.
    The storyline surprised and made me empathise.

    Since 2013, "The Last of Us" has been the standard that I've held writing/storytelling in video games to. When the sequel was announced, I was conflicted as to whether it would be a good thing to continue a story that ended on a note that intentionally left questions unanswered. Unfortunately, aside from some scarce moments where the spirit of the original game is allowed to show, this sequel becomes a shallow revenge plot that sought to nudge angered reactions from fans for its own publicity. I'm sure many will praise this game's story for "taking risks", "trying something different", or "subverting audience expectations" (none of which are inherently bad things, of course). But, in this case, I see it as a lazy way to gain notoriety through controversy rather than writing in complex questions and decisions for players to ponder over as the original game did. As far as I'm concerned, Joel and Ellie's story ended with their return to Tommy's dam, and nothing Naughty Dog does with the franchise in the future will change my mind.… Expand

During my first go round in the back of my head I was constantly thinking about all the negatives ppl were saying about the game during the release and I found myself agreeing to them. When I played with Abby I didn't give her character a chance didn't enjoy it just ran thrive it and by the end of the game I really sympathized with her. If you want another Joel and Ellie adventure this isn't it his story was good was told in the first game. Go in with an open mind and enjoy it.… Expand

Its part of the story to be angry and the game is making the player feel this way. The important word is empathy: if you are able to empathize with the characters the ending of the game will be incredible. You will be sad of what happened, but as written before, its meant to be a harsh and dark game.
    The Last of Us Part II is not a sequel, it just shows all bad things that occured because of the actions from the Original to us and with all consequences. Only if you are able to let the story change your mind and how pointless this whole brutality and revenge is, you will understand the ending. If you have an open mind and good moral, you will see the deeper meaning of this game. Then you learned something and you can go on forward, like Ellie does in the end :)    … Expand

    Ignorar todo el odio que tienen este juego, es la gente que ni lo a jugado que está llorando por todas partes , una por qué es solo se la play y otra por qué les da una rabia ... yo llevo 5 horas y me está encantado muy recomendable a todo fan de juegos single player

    Al terminar el juego me costó asimilar todo lo acontecido, es un juego muy incómodo con un final muy agrio, y creo que ese el objetivo del juego, hacer que tu sientas incomodidad, tristeza, odio, y hasta nos hace reflexionar, osea muchos sentimientos encontrados. Lo importante a destacar es que el juego cumple su objetivo, aunque tiene sus claras fallas argumentales, me parece un buenAl terminar el juego me costó asimilar todo lo acontecido, es un juego muy incómodo con un final muy agrio, y creo que ese el objetivo del juego, hacer que tu sientas incomodidad, tristeza, odio, y hasta nos hace reflexionar, osea muchos sentimientos encontrados.     Now to what I actually thought about the game. Graphically it is a beautiful game and does great job at fleshing out the world. The story does contain some plot holes but it doesn't take too much away from the game. Combat is enjoyable and I never saw the game as SJW. Crafting is the same as the last game essentially but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Overall I give it a 8/10 as it isn't as good as the first game but that was a steep mountain to climb.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First things first this is the best looking console game that I have ever played. The level design is at its best. The score is just as good as the first game. The combat is about the same as the first one and so is the scavenging. But what gives it such a low rating for me is that the story is just sloppy. Within the first hour of the game, Joel the character that you played in the first one and played countless hours of dies in such a cheap way to just give the game it’s existence. Revenge, that is the story, not saying that’s bad but revenge is literally the most original story you can do. Half of this game is played by Ellie whom who grow to dislike as the game progresses because of just how poorly she is written. She isn’t that jolly funny girl in the first game anymore she is just a boring non-charismatic person. Now I know that a lot can happen in the four years that have passed and they do show flashbacks as to why she is boring and etc. But they do it in a way that just doesn’t seem believable. The other half of the game is played by Joel’s killer Abby who honestly had better missions and character development than Ellie. The game just randomly switches to Abby and I thought that oh I wouldn’t be playing her long so for two hours I just was trying to get her done as fast as possible but it turns out that wasn’t the case. I didn’t like playing Abby at all. It was just such a drag that I just wanted to get it over with. At the end of Abby’s chapter three you have to fight Ellie who is the main protagonist of the game and who you loved and cared so much about in the first game. That to me was just so upsetting to people who loved the first game and grew to love Ellie. The end of the game is also just so unfulfilling I’m so many ways. Ellie goes all this way through all this trouble loses some friends and a father figure to only not kill Abby and just let her live. Now I now what they were going for revenge gets you nowhere, it’s not good for anybody but if you went through all the trouble and had so many of your close ones die you’d best be getting your revenge. The game kills off people in the game who you generally know and they do it so much and often that when someone dies it’s like (oh ok hm what else is new). The shock wasn’t there anymore it’s was just not surprising. This is the first game that I switched the difficulty to the easiest difficulty just to get it done and over with. It was just so frustrating playing this game waiting seven years from playing one of the greatest video games of all time to just being an utter disappointment. I enjoyed playing the game because I like the world of the last of us I like the different factions and the whole zombie apocalypse. I just would not buy this game at full price. If anything I’d say watch someone play it so you don’t have to waste any money. If I had to choose one word for this game it would disappointing.… Expand

    ON TOP of everything previously mentioned, FACTIONS (online MP) was excluded of this game, for whatever stupid reason, to include more pointless characters or identity politics.
    Do yourself a favor and skip this sorry mess.
    Wait for it to be free on PS+ or pick it up from a bargain bin a couple of weeks from today.

    Played the game start to finish. I must admit I probably had unrealistic expectations for the sequel to my all-time favorite game, but I tried to keep an open mind and was all aboard for the continuation and evolution of the narrative from TLOU1. Unfortunately that’s exactly where I feel TLOU2 misses the mark: the narrative. Pros: 1) The game looks impeccable. It’s apparent why it tookPlayed the game start to finish. I must admit I probably had unrealistic expectations for the sequel to my all-time favorite game, but I tried to keep an open mind and was all aboard for the continuation and evolution of the narrative from TLOU1. Unfortunately that’s exactly where I feel TLOU2 misses the mark: the narrative. Pros: 1) The game looks impeccable. It’s apparent why it took Naughty Dog so long to release it. 2) Gameplay mechanics. Although I did find it a bit too easy to spam the Dodge button to avoid taking damage. 3) The score and sound of the game is superb. ND showed out with their best looking and sounding game to date. Cons: 1) I hated the game. So many reasons to list, none of which are unique to me based on other reviews. I’ll never play it again and it kind of breaks my heart to write this. 2) The game did so wrong by its portrayal of the characters I’d grown to love in the first game. I’m team Joel and Ellie to the end so this may be a personal bias. I didn’t like ‘Joel-the-Plot-Piece’, ‘Ellie-the-Monster’, ‘Tommy-the-Jerk’, and the immediate short-lived character arcs of the new folks I never cared about. 3) I didn’t like Abby, but I HATED playing as her. I feel the game cut the wrong corners to try to force the player to like her. The game tries too hard to get you to empathize with her. It’s the same feeling of skepticism you might feel when you meet someone for the first time, and they go out of their way to convince you how nice and honest of a person they are. As a player and spectator, it felt disingenuous. To be forced to play as a character I never cared about for so many hours is a disservice to the fan base. I lost count of how many times I said to myself “I don’t care what happens to any of these people.” Not what you want in a narrative and story-driven game. 4) So many plot holes it was impossible to suspend my disbelief enough to bridge the gap in my mind to stay engrossed in the story. Too many to list. One recurring one was ‘I’m going to risk my neck on this revenge mission but I’ll let you live at the last moment because.... reasons’. 5) HOLY SOCIAL JUSTICE AGENDA. It’s about as subtle as a golf club to the head. The game contrived every possible opportunity to push its political agenda that the intended impact actually had an impact antithetical to its desired goal. Not only in the main “themes” like orientation and exploring the struggles of gender non-binary characters (which I should probably clarify that like any entertainment theme or detail, I have no problem with if it’s done tastefully) but also in more subtle ways like walking over to random NPCs and listening to their conversations, or seeing a table at the WLF outpost at which a smaller woman beat a man in arm wrestling. Not that it couldn’t happen (it happens daily), but little things like that were so prevalent it was hard to take any of it seriously by the end. It was so prolific that I found myself rolling my eyes and shaking my head in a “Where’s Waldo” kind of game with myself every time I picked up on another spoon-feeding of subliminal wokeness. I could keep going but I doubt anyone even made it this far in my review. I’ll never play this game again. It should have never been made. Naughty Dog should have created a prequel or a spinoff IP because the first game was too perfect to try to follow it up. It was an impossible goal, but I don’t think they really gave it their best effort to create the best-possible game. I think Druckmann got way too smug with his creative license and totally ruined TLOU. This is proof that great graphics + money + time do not necessarily equal a great game. Final Score: 2.5/10… Expand

    It will break your heart, if you are a last of us fan. I will not say this game was for ''FUN'' but it really intrigued me to play and I was fueled by anger whenever that scene was shown again in the flashbacks and A player cannot form an own opinion of this game without playing it. Gameplay, cinematics, character development, all of it. Side characters actually have an emotional impact on you where in the first game they just felt like plot progression points. If you can get past Joel’s death and keep an open mind, this game is a very rewarding experience. You go from despising Abby and not wanting to play as her to empathizing with both sides and not wanting her to die. By the final fight any thirst for revenge you have is gone. For me the only negative of this game was not much dialogue between ellie and joel. However, its a continuation of the story and I think it acts perfectly as that. One of the best games i’ve ever played.… Expand

    Game is highly exaggerated by players for it being a bad game, why not complete the whole game to understand its plot points. That is the most fun I've had playing a single-player story mode. Pls try to complete the story, it has its unique story telling to keep you immersed and also is a long one. Fantastic job by naughty dog.

    The game is good. It takes some risks, and while I don't think people need to be on board with all of them, it is a bummer to see so many people dismissing the game because it didn't go the way they thought or wanted it to go. There is a lot of value here in terms of level design, game design, and story, and while I'd agree that this game is not a 10/10, that doesn't mean it is worthless.

    The gameplay is solid but not innovative in any way. The sound design and graphics are incredible and set a new high water mark for the industry. The story, while an interesting idea, is executed very poorly. Unlikable characters, and bad pacing kill the motivation to stay with the story through multiple flashbacks and time line jumps. The last 4 hours of the game shouldn't even exist.

    Imagine if those leaks never happened. Players would concentrate on the whole story, without specifying certain moments. No one would play the game with leaked scenes in mind. Just try to perceive the story as a chunk, not in pieces. Maybe THEN you will understand.

    I really loved the first game , I was a big fan of it. Which is all the more reason as to why I can't forgive this disgusting "sequel". The story isn't entertaining , full of plot holes , and the sex scenes were really uncomfortable. Even the controls suck and feel clunky. and I would love to know how they messed the controls up after 7 years of development.

    No character development , beloved characters are treated like worthless beings , and the game contradicts it's own ideologies with a disgusting unsatisfying conclusion.
    And the false advertising was really shady too ,using Joel to advertise the game then treating him like a dog was a really disgusting thing to do.

    Who is the intended audience of this game ? Clearly it's not the fans of the original.

    And yes the game is full SJW agenda even when it goes against realism (like abby's body).You can't have a body like that as a woman in a post apocalyptic world , without steroids ,and A LOT of food.Character designs are supposed to be likable ,making beautiful characters isn't sexist , it makes them appealing to the players , hollywood does the same while hiring actors , they hire people with good looks , because they are appealing.

    How did those critics give it a 10? Just how ? At least now I am never buying a game that has anything to do with c u c k man from now on. Still , I am really disappointed from what happened to a franchise that I once loved.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
