    2 days after finishing this game I'm still unsure if I wish I'd avoided this or not. I both liked and despised this game. For anyone who deeply enjoyed the first game and thought it ended at a logical end point, I would highly advise you not to play this game.

    The Last of Us 2 is dark, depressing and deeply upsetting, and goes out of it's way to take everything ...EVERYTHING... from    2 days after finishing this game I'm still unsure if I wish I'd avoided this or not. I both liked and despised this game. For anyone who deeply enjoyed the first game and thought it ended at a logical end point, I would highly advise you not to play this game.

    The Last of Us 2 is dark, depressing and deeply upsetting, and goes out of it's way to take everything ...EVERYTHING... from characters you care dearly about. This is done with little/no care or respect for the characters; some huge events are rushed, others are not but the game delights in having you play through their suffering for too long. If you care about Joel/Ellie after playing the first one, you will not enjoy this game. It will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. In that respect, the director has likely achieved what they set out to do, and some kudos has to be given for making a story that - at least in parts - is impactful. The impact, as well as the graphics, sound and music (which are all top notch) are the reasons this score is as high as it is. However the cost of the events of it's story, the treatment of it's characters, and where they are left by the end is too great. The events of this game and the conclusion cast a shadow not only over the experience of this game, but over the first, making it also feel tarnished by the experience, knowing what events follow.

    The first game was interspersed with poignant moments that shed light in it's darkness (such as the Giraffe scene), but these moments are all lacking from this game, save for 1 or 2 bittersweet flash-back scenes. Aside from it's treatment of the characters this is it's biggest downfall, in that it appears to have lost the soul of the first game.

    While I've played the first game 3 times and enjoyed each play-through just as much, I will not be playing this game a second time. Once is enough, or possibly too much.    … Expand

    I just can't understand how many dumb people there are among this community, in order to give this game such bad rating, I loved the game, an amazing story. I guess these bunch of **** nerds expect all games to be lasers and robots. I don't regret having bought this game. Totally worth it if you haven't played yet do not hesitate, just buy it it is a masterpiece.

With The Last Of Us Part II was no different, not for me or anyone else. For me, as i heard someone else saying on Youtube, it was not only an experience, but also a lifechanging event. As a fan of the franchise, I'm destroyed by theAs inevitable as it is, creating expectations and feelings toward things that we like and anticipate will (mostly) always be a part of the experience. With The Last Of Us Part II was no different, not for me or anyone else. For me, as i heard someone else saying on Youtube, it was not only an experience, but also a lifechanging event. As a fan of the franchise, I'm destroyed by the gruesome, hard, heartbreaking, true to itself storytelling. Every single chapter of the game was a necessary and pleaseable (in some weird way sometimes, got be honest). The mechanics, the script, the delivery of every single line was on point, and when I say on point I mean pure perfect understanding the possibilities and the story beeing told . Saying that, makes me completely saddened to see the mostly irrational backlash that the game and the creators are receiving, I believe a lot of that comes from a place of prejudice (like homophobia), and because of that I am truly grateful for the creators for beeing bold enough to do a realistic and inclusive and necessary game. As a female gamer, makes me enormously satisfied to see true representations of female characters and bodies, to see true wlw relationships beeing portrayed. So, for all of that and a lot that is not being told here, thank you. I wish I could express everything that I felt while playing it: the pain, the laugh, the tears, the fear, the love and another countless feelings that made me realised that this franchised has become one of my favorites of all time and this game occupying a special place in my heart.

    I did not expect The Last of Us 2 at all, I found that the 1 was enough by itself. We were shown a story that ends on a lie, with characters having a real identity and not being frankly the good guys .... But TLOU2 arrived and I had no prejudices before playing it. But after finishing it, I honestly wonder how this game got such high scores everywhere. Obviously there is good things : theI did not expect The Last of Us 2 at all, I found that the 1 was enough by itself. But after finishing it, I honestly wonder how this game got such high scores everywhere. Obviously there is good things : the sound-design is very good, there are good atmospheres. The level-design is pretty good, and the gameplay, although a bit dated, does the job. The bestiary is also more varied. But, in my opinion, the story had no place to be, especially in view of the ending (but this point is quite subjective). Then, the rhythm of the game is atrocious, we are swung from flash back to flash back and we find ourselves frolicking for hours without anything happening. Many scenes were really unnecessary, even to just "make it truer". The craft system has not been improved and good ideas from the 1 have been removed (the knives limited to kill the infected). I really struggled to get to the end of the game since we are forced to follow someone uninteresting for hours and what's more, we do absolutely everything to make us love this person, it becomes ridiculous. To finish, the end of the game is risky but ineffective. The moral of the story has been seen and reviewed, and I find that in addition to that, it was not executed with flying colors, it is even the opposite. Too bad, TLOU2 had potential, despite positive it absolutely does not deserve so much high scores and it is by no means a masterpiece. The press should wake up and stop scoring games perfectly with so many negative points. Free to everyone called a masterpiece what he likes, but you have to be a minimum objective in the tests and stop distributing the perfect score to everything.… Expand

    Game is a breakthrough in writing and character development. Ignore the haters. If you’re a racist or a misogynist play call of duty again or some other game where you can scream your hatred out to 8 yr olds in multiplayer. Any review less than a 6 is silly

    Ironically, I had low expectations compared to most for this game due to the number of people online telling me how much I will hate it (especially as such a huge fan of the first). Due to this, I believe this certainly aided me to be quite shocked at how much I enjoyed the narrative of this very controversial title. Truthfully, I just can't say I agree with many of the popular critiques of the narrative (except a few plot holes) which is why I am rating it a 9/10. Firstly, the gameplay (including graphics, lighting, level design, and sound design) is amazing; especially that it can run so well on a base PS4. In my opinion, the gameplay alone should discredit most 0/10's. Secondly, the performances are incredible once again; even though some may struggle relating to some new characters, the individual performances are still amazing almost across the board. One scene that stands out for this is at the beginning of the game in the cabin; if you played it you know what I'm referring too. Finally, the narrative itself while having made some very interesting decisions, executes these decisions extremely well in my opinion. This game is not trying to capture the same magic of the first, but instead, create a new storyline which was an extremely risky move that I respect greatly. Most decisions of this game have an answer, it really just depends if the player is willing to be open or not to the story. The ending especially is one that I really confused about how so many hate it, as it truly is one of the redeeming moments of Ellie in a story filled with so much sadness. "Well, she did all of this for nothing"... exactly, revenge never truly fulfills and always amounts to nothing. In my opinion, though, this game says much more than "revenge is bad", but, that is all up for interpretation to the player with its very open-ended conclusion. Yes this story wasn't what alot of people where expecting but that in no way makes it bad. Naughty Dog told the story they wanted to tell and for me it was an absolute privilege to play through it. The most important thing to me about a games story is that it has to make me feel something and I can safely say this game succeed in that. I was looking forward to seeing the progression of Ellie and Joels relationship so when Joel died I was deeply saddened... But thats a good thing and made the moments you spend with Joel in the game even more heartbreaking and I loved it and by the end of the game I was deeply satisfied by the progression of their relationship. This game isn't afraid to make you feel sad and for some gamers that isn't what they want out of a game but as a filmaker I adore this level of storytelling. I really can't find the words for how much I enjoyed the story, all aspects of it, the quiet moments between Ellie and Tommy, the guitar playing with Dina etc. Such a beautiful story that I imagine took a herculean effort from everyone at naughty dog to make. The voice acting and mocap where stunning, the soundtrack is gorgeous, graphically the game boggles my mind with how good it is. I will admit that for the first maybe 20mins playing as Abby I was unsure about how I felt but she quickly grew on me and was a fantastic addition to the game as she is a beautifully flawed character questioning her morals and her and Ellies collision is beautiful once you know what they both took from eachother.

    I really love this game. Just because it isn't the story some people wanted doesn't make it a bad story/game and I find myself getting frustrated with peoples criticisms. For me this game took around 30+ hours to complete and for everyone negative review that was posted on day of release I find it really hard to believe that all of those people completed the game in less than 24 hours. The review bombing is immature and paints a distorted picture of how good this game is.

    Dine and Eliies relationship was perfect, they complement eachother so well and in the absence of Joel I was more than happy exploring with Dina. And as Abby getting to play alonside her friends was also a blast. Again I love that this game made me feel emotions and it isn't a bad thing because of it. If people want to play a story that isn't complex and challenging to comprehend emotionally then thats fine but you can't bomb the game in response.

    I love every aspect of this game and cannot wait to replay it (thanks btw for having new game+). This game made me feel sad, angry, frustrated, happy etc and its truly beautiful and is my game of the year without a doubt. Everyone at NaughtyDog I thank you all for this masterclass in storytelling and gaming, you have once again raised the bar so good luck with your next project :).    … Expand

The graphics were the best that I’ve ever experienced on a console. The smallest details of the scenery were amazing. The weather, sound, scenery and atmosphere were fantastic. And there were scenes that made you jump out of your seat. I thought that the game was so great that I didn’t want the game to end I wanted to play the story forever. I for one liked the story because it showed revenge from both sides. I also showed how people who only care about revenge Ruin the lives of so many others. At the end, Ellie has a baby with Dina and a perfect house/life and a nice life but she gives it all up for revenge. When she returns to her house it is empty, just like her. I also avoided all spoilers so Joel’s death was a shocker to me. It made me think of Ned Starks death on Game of Thrones. Then to later have Ellie be a boss for Abby was mind blowing. Then by the end of the game I didn’t want to kill Abby because I understood her pain as well. In my book Naughty Dog made another masterpiece and they continue to be hands down my favorite video game developer. I can’t wait to play their next game.… Expand

Quick run through, manly looking girl kills straight white male, lesbian goes for revenge, manly girl finds friendship in trans boy(girl to boy), then another straight male gets killed, another straight white male left unable to fight. Unable to decide if team lesbian or team trans should win, they decide we will take away the lesbians ability to do 2 in the goo 1 in the poo and let them all live because LGBTQ agenda plot armor. This game literally had some good parts but the clear female empowerment agenda is in this game. All men are jerks and bigots, and woman are the best. The 1st game was a masterpiece, this game just takes a load all over it. And no, no one wanted to play as the person that killed their main character from the last game, that is such a stupid idea. I get they wanted us as an audience to see the enemies point of view, but I'm sorry, I don't want to hurt or chase after the people I grew to love in the first game. Soooo, thanks for that... however, I did enjoy the idea of what happens when you become consumed in revenge you will end up with nothing. As Ellie, Literally lost everything, and was unable to have her closure with Joel because of Abby, but she had her chance, didn't take her revenge (because plot armor) that costed her to lose everything. The characters all felt fleshed out, and real. The story was... It knew what it wanted to say, and it said it, painful though it was. And it needed to be painful. It needed to be harsh. The gameplay itself was perfect, and I genuinelyI thought it was perfect. It was heartbreaking, and had a real message about revenge.     For me personally the story is good, it could’ve been better but it’s still quite good. I think a lot of people started the game with a bad mindset which led to disappointment. 9/10 Graphics, animations 7/10 gameplay, (it got repetitive after a while)

    Unexpected, brutal, sobering, and absolutely brilliant. A perfect blend of gameplay and story.

    For anyone not understanding why the picture of the start screen boat changed from dark to sunny after completion ... it is on Santa Catalina Island.

    I am very satisfied when all is said and done with this game as a sequel. I was an avid fan of the first game, and have waited so long for this to come out. There were moments I dreaded and hated playing through, but I think the hate that this game has been getting is absurd. I loved the gameplay, mostly loved the story, and not to mention the fact that this is the most beautiful game II am very satisfied when all is said and done with this game as a sequel. A história é mais brutal e contínua exatamente aonde o TLOU 1 terminou. Se tratando da história, nós temos dois lados, o da Abby que perdeu o seu pai assassinado brutalmente pelo Joel e o lado da Ellie que busca vingança contra a Abby por ter matado o Joel em busca de justiça. Isso vai nos mostrar que nesse universo não existem herói ou vilões, e sim humanos, com todos os seus lados lindos e podres. Apesar de a primeira vista parecer uma história de vingança clichê, o caminho que é percorrido pelas duas protagonistas é extremamente interessante e te faz ama-las e odia-las pelas suas decisões. A trilha sonora do jogo é linda, e como no primeiro jogo, o compositor é o Gustavo Santaolalla. No mais, esse não é um jogo que recompensa o jogador por faze-lo matar. Ele é uma montanha-russa de sentimentos, tu vai amar, odiar, ficar frustrado, aliviado e etc. Ele merece estar entre os candidatos ao GOTY com toda a certeza, e se tu tem um PS4, esse jogo é praticamente uma compra obrigatória.… Expand

I have been waiting 7 long years for this game. I specifically avoided everything about the game. Even the leaks. The way the game throws you a curveball in the prologue is jarring if you are a fan but that doesn’t make it the wrong direction. No game is perfect as the dev team at Naughty Dog know. I don’t think they took this story lightly. I would even put money to the fact that they know the characters and their stories better than we do, and love them. It’s their life’s work. I don’t like certain things in this story for the same reasons people are complaining about. I do however respect what they did with this game and the balls it took knowing it would anger some keyboard cowboys The story although meant for entertainment is not always meant for enjoyment in the normal sense of the meaning. I found myself struggling at times with the weight of the violence and the story and it starts early on. Spoilers Ahead. When you first see Abby and Owen you don’t know what you are seeing until you see it. Joel will be missed as a anti hero of sorts. We want to love the story of Joel getting a second chance. We want to be happy he and Ellie are making it in Jackson. Did we forget how we got here. Joel killed a bunch of people to save a girl he thought of as a daughter. Some people didn’t forget what the smuggler did and make that point in a violent way. This sets scene for the dark story that follows. You aren’t meant to play this game with a smile on your face. You’re meant to regret everything Ellie and Abby are doing. Blind rage for revenge fuels them. There is not a happy ending here. No one is innocent. The characters flaws are mirrored in each other. The game play is on par with its predecessor and rummaging through drawers and buildings can still be annoying. The enemies are more of the human nature in this episode of the game yes they introduce a few new types of infected Shamblers and Stalkers but, you find yourself in the middle of a war between two groups who both think they are right but are probably wrong. Another group keeps humans a slaves labor but Needless to say you end fighting more humans than infected. The environments are beautiful even in the dilapidated places. The shadows the lighting all play a part in this story. In the end the game is a beautifully built disaster of humanity when there is nothing to keep the moral compass pointed north. It repeatedly begs you to ask yourself when is enough enough. When you get to the end you will feel drained emotionally yet hopeful that something good will come out of it all.… Expand

    They lied about so many things and the story had so many other options to end with and the direction they chose was probably the worst. Ellie should have killed abby or she should have never left home. But that just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things that ruined the so long awaited release of this game..

    I just finished the video game and I find it incredible in every way seen in video game creation. It is true that there are themes in the story that do not make much sense, but they are necessary to give us a more proper view of the theme of the game and real life.

When I fininhed de first one, immediately I started to think what was about to happen, if everything would stay ok, was open, but I realized that this was the best way to end... And to be sincere, I never wanted a second game. When I had The Last of Us Part 2 in my hands, And started the menus, I had fear of what was coming, this never happened before, so I immediatelly understand why Part 2. Playing it, I was aware that something would happen with Joel in the beginning, but not certain about his death, and then, he is killed, so easy... I felt impotent, so do Ellie, and there I got what was about, and that it means I was playing a game that try to be better than your first one in all the ways, and that is inside the game history too, we need to be the better of ourselves everyday, and the thing is, we can be better noticing who we are everyday, who we were. The game is better than your first one at everything, and reinforce the idea of the first one, in a way that you cant ran off... The idea of that in real life there are no hero, and we are people, and the characters there are meant to be people, thing that we rarely see in blockbusters of other medias.
    Like I said, Joel dies easily, but when I try to put my self in his place, things should most likely go worse... That time, there was no lucky, he could say a false name, but maybe they did before, but with years of travelers, and everything well, maybe that was the fisrt time on the spur of the moment, they just did what they did... This could happen in the reality, and in other situations always happens.

    Gameplay - On the harder difficult I could ran well, because the mechanics runs so good that I could handle easily with the enemies, mainly with the stealth.

    Graphics - I cant believe that they did it again, like the firt one, we had the game in the generation finals, and the games somteimes looks likes the new generations trailers we had, we could easyly show to someone and tells it is from PS5

    History - I had good moments, and very hard moments with this game, some people must confuse it, frustrating with it doesn't mean its not good, at least with me, they achieved what I think they wanted, I could hate and not hate anymore, and I could dislike someone I love, felt the losses, didnt have time to cry because I was in shock most of time... Thing could have been different, but they wasnt, as do life goes, and as do Joel quotes.

    I hope we have more audacity that way in industry, because when a thing is meant to be good as art, the artists are trying to be the better of themselves, and sometimes art tries to mirror the reality, and sometimes people dislike it and doesnt know, they are disliking reality.    … Expand

To those who feel upset that it's not an "ideal" story, and that you don't end up liking any of the characters – that's entirely the point. Nobody is right in war and violence, everybody has their reasons for doing things – however irrational they may be – and in a post-apocalyptic world that they're living in, everybody is just trying to cope.

    There is both beauty and brutality throughout the game. A number of characters are given satisfying arcs, sometimes ending all too soon. We go from one "side" to another, unable to decide who it is we truly care about. We're forced to empathise with both sides of the story, which is something clearly more of us need to do.

    I'm sorry that some people out there are sad that a certain character isn't a big part of this game. Perhaps they should replay Part 1 if they need to scratch that itch. Once they're done scratching, I hope they come to realise that Part 2 is an infinitely more rich and immersive game that doesn't rely simply on rehashing the original.    … Expand

    I played about 32 hours. I love both Ellie and Abby. I couldn’t understand their thinking before switching character. But after that, I get their decision. I love many accessibility on this game. There are really awesome. I guess my friends who has disability can play this game! He could not play shooter game so far, but now he will be able to do. Thank you so much Naughty Dog!!

    The good moments and sequences are few and far between but the rest of the story is poorly written, with many people acting out of character. Also, the pacing is very weak as there is a huge change in the middle that basically takes you back to the square 1. The gameplay is good but is pretty repetitive after a while.

I waited until finishing the game to read what the user scores and what Im seeing a lot is players who didn't like the story because is not what they wanted for the characters.

    In the end I think that,same as movies, we need to remember that this game we are just along for the ride that Naughty Dog team wanted to tell.

    For example,as many, I started hating Abby but by the end I was rooting for her and make me feel unsured whose side I wanted to win.

Всё настолько притянуто за уши что фейспалм случается каждую катсцену. Я не понимаю как критики ставят высокие оценки игре, в то время как всю игру тебя заставляют страдать. Как такое может нравится? Вам нравится что вас бьют по голове клюшкой для гольфа? Как так непрофессионально можно было слить Джоэла. Ребят у вас огромная команда сценаристов, и из всех вариантов завязки сюжета для второй части вы выбрали этот? Уже после этого играть не хочется.     I could forgive the ideological brow beating like acrobatic pregnant women and hulking apocalyptic female bodybuilders if the overall storyline was handled with respect, but I don't think it was.

    This is yet another example of hipster writers botching a beloved franchise by "subverting expectations" instead of telling a story. I don't think feminism ruined the game, but it didn't help.

    This game was a lot of fun. I had a blast. The story was good, but it was depressing. It wasn't bad. It examines the two sides in any revenge story. It had great flashbacks. Hopefully we'll get single-player DLC that takes place between part 1 and part 2. Reminds me of Kill Bill for some reason.

During my first playthrough of this game I was finding it a little difficult to keep going, not because of the story choices, but because I just wanted resolution of some sorts and through all the character building it took longer than expected to get there. All the combat scenarios just felt like a delay on me getting to the end of the narrative that I was so invested in discovering. Now that I've had time to process and sleep on the game a bit (which it appears like some of you review bombing should have done), this game executes what it wants to. It's a much darker game of hatred and spite, full of revenge and how it's and endless cycle... until someone breaks it. If Ellie kills Abby at the end, Lev would just hunt down Ellie, JJ would hunt down Lev and on and on it goes. Abby and Ellie were both good people corrupted by hatred, a poison that has no true antidote. It's heartbreaking to see the spiral that ensues with a character that we loved but I also felt it was realistic given that Ellie needed her life to have a meaning. Joel selfishly saved her so he didnt have to live with letting down a second daughter, and took Ellie's chance at providing meaning in the world from her, leaving her with so much survivor guilt. Once Joel died, Ellie's existence meant even less as the one person that doomed humanity to love her, was gone. Her life had even less meaning than before (to her).     The gameplay itself is naughty dogs best yet by far, and it definitely leans into it's survival horror aspect more than the first game. No that I've gotten through the story, I am excited to go back and try different tactics and find all the collectibles and platinum this game. Whether you love or dont love the story that was told, this game's narrative has changed how story telling in games will be from now on, much like the last one did.

    To all of the review bombers out there, either you are an xbox fanboy (honestly just make the switch ...I did), or you had actually gripes with the narrative, which is fair! However whats not fair is giving this game anything below a 8, based on it's technical prowess and powerful story (like it or not). Putting all the politics aside this game provided an incredibly immersive and compelling story, together with some of the best looking game environments yet seen on PS with really enjoyable game play dynamics. I often judge movies and games on their ability to get me emotionally involved, to make me feel something and toOk just finished the game. Not doubt one of the best games ever.     Realismo es poco, explica muy bien lo que conlleva obsesionarse tanto por la venganza que provoca poner en peligro emocionalmente tu integridad y los que te rodean.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would give it the game a 9,5/10; but I can't so it's a 10/10. This 0,5 that I missed is a 0,5 that reflects a whole game that doesn't exist, but it should. TLOU II is actually an excellent TLOU III.

    But nonetheless I have no words to describe TLOU II, it's a masterpiece, graphics, gameplay, story, everything is so far from the games we have, only GoW comes close to what TLOU II is, we are on the limit of this generation, we'll maybe find a better game only in the next gen, maybe. This game made me feel nausea from Joel's death until the end, the only thing I felt after I finished was pure joy and relief. It's sad people aren't ready for games like this, this is an experience, not only a game, probably they weren't frustrated when they were children, saying it's just "SJW" game or pure ideology means you know nothing about anything, neither ideology nor society, everything is political, LGBT+ people exist, and they can be protagonists, they don't fit only in the stereotype.     Si el primer juego dejó el listón alto, en The Last of US Parte 2 se ha vuelto a superar, nos encontramos ante una historia muy madura con momentos realmente duros. Es recomendable jugar la primera parte antes, aunque en esta segunda parte nos ponen en situación. Gráficamente es impecable, de lo mejor visto en esta generación, exprime PlayStstion 4 Pro al máximo. El juego no    Gran juego.

    The best game of this generation. No doubt one of the best games in history, able to change what you feel during the game. Intense. Everything can change, even your opinion about the characters. All i can say is the best experience i had in a game in years, and I can’t understand the hate this game is receiving right now, it’s makes no sense.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
