    Just finished this incredible story. So deep and powerful. Gameplay much improved, as are the animations. Graphics, score, maps are all gorgeous.

    This game has lost essence of game.
    It reminds me of the line from the WOW Silvanas Windrunner.

    I waited for years to play this game. Maybe I’m not as easily triggered? I suppose it could have ended earlier, maybe? Can you imagine how many hardworking people it takes to make a video game?

    The story's pacing and execution killed it for me. The game runs and plays well and it is indeed one of the best looking games in this generation but none of that matters because the story pacing and executing killed it.

    Incredible. I’ve never felt so many emotions while playing a video game. It’s an incredible feat what naughty dog have pulled off. It’s a work of art. A deeply uncomfortable one at that. Not everyone’s gona like it because it takes some controversial turns but that just adds to the experience in my opinion. Every direction the game takes you is necessary for you to fully experience thisIncredible. I’ve never felt so many emotions while playing a video game.     Ok, so there are aspects of the game I enjoyed very much, however the bad outweighs the good. In a narrative driven game like this it should live up to expectations and be the strongest aspect, it is not. This game feels like it was structured out of order and as such can be felt while playing the game. Let me make things clear, the Joel's death early is not why I dislike this game, it's the execution of his death. I take issue with Neil wanting to make a divisive game instead of making one that makes you question things on a compelling level. What annoys me the most is that if the game was rearranged and some of the content was cut it could've been a truly great game. Abby is a character who I genuinely liked aspects of, and if she had her own installment I'd be glad to play it. Unfortunately that isn't the case here, we spend half the game tracking down and killing countless people just to get to Abby, then we're forced to play as her from her perspective, but at this point I don't care for her as a character or her friends we've killed as Ellie. Abby gets some of the best/interesting moments in the game, but I just didn't care. Now to talk about the ending it was terrible. Not because it didn't end on a semi high note like the last game, not because it wasn't a happy ending. It was terrible because it made all your efforts as playing as Ellie COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS. All of those people she killed just to get to Abby only for her to let her go in the end? Most would retort that she only did that because she realized "revenge is wrong" I'd agree with that assessment if Ellie hadn't literately murdered like hundreds of people. I'm not saying killing Abby would make for a better ending, but by the end I felt that the story didn't say anything interesting and absolutely butchered the past characters. Sure Ellie selfishly tried to get revenge again and in the process lost everything, but is that outcome compelling or make you reflect and ponder on the game as a whole? No it doesn't. Before I wrap up I'll quickly touch on the flashback scenes, for Ellie and and Abby they were easily the best written scenes of the entire game, which hearkens back to my point about the game feeling out of order. They failed at making me care for the new characters, failed at creating a great narrative like the last game, and failed at making an interesting and thought provoking ending. On it's own merit it fails and as a sequel it fails. This game just ends up feeling like misery porn with the bleakest ending yet. I recommend NOT playing this game and I for one won't be playing TLOU3. 6/10    … Expand

    Graphically is a great game, it's a miracle that a PS4 can run this. With that said, that's the only outperforming part of the game.

    Let's go to the music area now. The music is not memorable at all, there is no one single song that I will remember years from now (today I can still hear the music of the first part in my mind).

    The gameplay is good, there is pretty little innovation, but it works. Sometimes it is boring, especially if you encounter a group of scars or wolves, which in the middle of the game you will like: "Oh, god, here go again with this crap".

    Puzzles? This game doesn't know what that is. I'll tell you the way it works: "Oh, the door is closed, what a surprise. Is there a container I can use for climbing? No. Okay, I guess I'll go through this whole in the building instead" (literally those two are the 90% of the options you have when a door is closed).

    Narrative. There is no one single character here that deserves to be remembered (aside from the ones of the previous game and maybe Lev, that chinese boy who was a scar). There are lots of plot holes, lots of them. The death of Joel is absolutely stupid, I didn't catch any love for Abby, literally zero, even though the narrative makes a tremendous effort for the player to catch it, but it's just badly written and executed.

    Definetly, would have been better for the saga if this game was never realeased.    … Expand

I'll make this quick and easy, the game is phenomenal, I sit in the group of fans that think The last of us Part 1 didn't need a sequal, I would have been happy to just imagine a future for Joe & Ellie then actually experience it. Saying that though Last of us part 2 hit everything correctly! It could of really been two games.

    I dislike when developers bring outside world issues to video games because its usually done poorly but the way the team managed to weave PTSD & Transgender themes to the game without making it "Trans right movement" was perfect and didn't distract from what was going on but actually added to it.

    While I understand the poor reviews, I don't agree at all with the points they make.

The story is SO intense, I cried, I got angry a lot of times, and I felt like I really was the character. Some decisions are unpredictable, and the ending was tough and cruel, but totally understandable, considering all that happened.     I don't know I've had a bit to drink, it looked really pretty but the storytelling wasn't great so 6, naughty dogs past reputation and capabilities make it 4, the fact that it's a sequel to a genuinely great game makes it a 2 and I'm enjoying the drama 0.

    If the behaviour and decision made by characters in the cutscenes or scripted animations diverged too much from players' common sense, the whole immersive experience would just collapse and evolve to rage and impatience.

    * Some cinematic scenes needed more polish (Beach Fight, for those of you that played the game)
    * Characters act a little out-of-character for no reason sometimes. It feels like they rushed a couple of sections to move the plot faster.     This game it's not to be compared to the first installment. This one is it's own beast of a game. Naughty Dog have accomplished another excellent installment to add to their library of already awesome games.

This garbage is what you get when a studio prioritizes a juvenile moral “lesson” over the connections fostered with characters that made the first “The Last of Us” so phenomenal. DO NOT BUY.

To all the so called Last of us "fans" who had a problem with the story, I recommend you go back and replay the first one. "The Last of Us" is not a single narrative nor just a survival zombie game. It has always been parallel stories of Man vs Man and the branching repercussions of ones actions. The humility and struggles of being a human in a world that is cruel and punishing has always been at the core of The Last of Us. Part two elevates this concept by putting you in the shoes of another person trying to cope in this complex and mentally taxing world. I can understand why people had a hard time liking this game due to the character you play as but I genuinely believe that if you did not understand why Naughty Dog went the direction they did, then you never understood the first game to begin with. A cruel world creates cruel stories. Now I'm not saying this a perfect game, but for people to write this game off with a 0/10 without logically reinforcing their opinions is sad and speaks volumes about the gaming community as a whole. Reading some of these reviews has lost me a few IQ points. Naughty Dog, thank you for bringing a nuanced and thought provoking sequel into the cultural zeitgeist. If you can sift through the thousands of nonsensical reviews you'll be sure to find people who honestly took the time to play the game whether they hated it or loved it.

    It seems as though the creators of this game tried so hard to make it different and unique, when in reality, they went against everything their audience wanted for the sequel. The character development was terrible, plot was tacky, loopholes everywhere. If they spent as much time building the story as they did make the game beautiful, we would have ended up with a much better game.

After playing The last of us part 2, how to say the game looks beautiful to the graphics of the landscape to the flow of water in a river and the sound of the game is top-notch to the point that it rivals Hollywood quality in terms of the environment sounds to voice actors playing out there scenes. Now what they got wrong was that the story was not as good at they initially hoped. The killing off the main character everyone loved, introducing a strong female protagonist to replace joel... I like to point out that the game used to be about the zombies but now it seems like the only story that's worth telling is one that rivals The walking Dead but what's 0 pacing. I went through so many flashbacks I literally lost count. At the end of the game I didn't feel immersed , I had to take long breaks just the process the story decisions and direction.... And come up with my own explanation for why they went in this direction. To put it simply I felt hallowed when I was finished with the game, not because of the story but because of the high expectations I had for it.… Expand

It's a fun game and the voice acting is great, but I have to give it a 0 for story and in general, because of all the fake 10s and Neil Druckmann lying to us. You don't have to be some right wing trump voter to hate this game. You just have to be somebody who wanted a good story.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First let me start by saying that TLOU (the original) is one of my top three favorite games of all times. I've played that game in all difficulties and at least 8 times total. That game deserves to be called a masterpiece.

    My score for this God-forsaken title is 3 out of 10. Reason why I'm giving it a 0 is that if the "critics" have the audacity to give it a 10 then I'll do the same the other way around and drop it to 0.

    Joel is one of the best written characters I've had the pleasure to play as. He's deeply flawed, hurt, and he's just trying to survive. He runs into a situation that allows him to experiment what he once thought lost. We get to go through that process in the middle of an apocalyptic world with incredible environment and powerful relationships. That story gets to you, it makes you feel connected to the character.
    Ellie is a complete bad-ass. We love her from the moment we met her and once we got to know her she became a person you just can stop trying to care of, even though she's more than capable to do it by herself. This father-daughter relationship creates a bond that it's impossible not to love.

    Here's my take on TLOU2:
    - Joel is portrait as a complete different character. He makes decisions that are not the ones he would do. Same as his brother Tommy.
    - Joel gets killed the worst imaginable way. And in the first two hours! He deserved better. Know your audience Neil Druckman.
    - Joel gets spit in his bashed faced by a self inserted Druckman after he's killed. I felt that spit in my face, and before you say it, no, not in a good story telling way, just in a disgusting, unnecessary way.
    - Ellie: I still love Ellie, it's just overwhelmingly sad to see that all they added to her in terms of character is a revenge plot. No closure on her relationship with Joel.
    - Abby: I will never care for Abby, you can put me in a 60-hour Abby only game, where she saves humanity and then becomes Mother Theresa 2 and I still won't like her. Her motivations, character, story telling are not compelling in the way they were presented. And on top of that we get to play as her for 15 hours? And right after she killed our beloved Joel? I think that my 3-year-old nephew can come up with something better than that.
    - With so many plot lines, you decided to explore this one? Was a team of writers consulted on their thoughts and if they were, were their opinions taken into account? I've read hundreds of ideas on possible plots that I would get behind. Deep, interesting, exploring our beloved characters even more. So many possibilities wasted, this is just sad.
    - Gameplay is basically the same as the old one so nothing more to say on that side.
    - Visuals are stunning no doubt about it, top-notch in that regard. Unfortunately this means nothing if the game story isn't enjoyable.
    - The ending is mind-blowing bad. Let's take your plot and finish it maybe? Oh, no! Let's kill 300 people (including a pregnant lady) and then let's forgive the one person who destroy our life and killed our father. Seriously?

    I could write an essay on why you shouldn't play TLOU2 but I'll just stick to what you should know right now: Don't waste your money on this game. Better support game companies that actually care about their fan bases.    … Expand

The boss fights were definitely challenging and fun. My only discrepancy with game hence 9/10. Was the fact that the Ellie and Abby fight was a little weird due to the fact that we played both sides and had empathy for both characters. I wishGreat story! There were so many ups and downs.     With that said, I saw the critic reviews of 10/10 and 5 stars, etc. I also saw the audience saying this game would be awful after the plot leaks. Those who read the leaks, learned of a big motive for the story, and instantly begun hating the game for it. This is the problem with spoilers. They ruin things for people.

    I was able to avoid the spoilers and went into this game expecting something good, but was weary and open-minded.

    I chose to write without spoilers, as the point of a review is to inform someone if they purchase something or not. This game is a purchase in my opinion. The sound and graphics are amazing, as to be expected with a Naughty Dog game. One thing a lot of reviews seem to miss, is the level of detail though. They do not go into the amount of detail. The world is very immersive and the music fits incredibly well. The combat is hard if you do not loot. The game attempts to will you into exploration and you find things you would not expect. Not weapons and ammo, but the stories of people who lived in the areas you loot. The benefits of this pay off, and you can get good gear.

    Even more so, the combat is very intense. It is violent. Very violent. However, that is the point of this game. To put emotion behind killing. Players are used to killing hundreds of enemies across multiple games without a thought to it. That is the point of this game and the message trying to be told. Violence, in any capacity, is violent. When you kill an enemy, others will cry out their name. Sometimes after landing a shot, the enemy collapses to the floor and screams until they die. This is very different from any game I have played. It tries to make you realize you are actually killing someone. Not some nobody, but somebody.

    The story is not perfect. There was no way to really make a sequel to the first game perfect, as the Last of Us was a perfect game and did not need a sequel. I understand that the Naughty Dog wanted to make a sequel, mainly for money, but also to simply make another game. The story is good for what it is. It is emotional, and those who say moments don't matter, are simply detached from the story.

    This game is best played in a setting where you can focus on it. It is best played when you are not trying to relax. It is more of an art project then a game for that matter. Last of Us Part II wants you to feel emotional during the game and tries desperately to achieve that. It works at times but also doesn't.

    The game attempts to show you the level of emotion behind people. It tries to show you that despite all the enemies you encounter, they all always have a reason for what they are doing. That, they might not actually be bad. The only real "bad guys" are the undead, and they aren't focused on as much for that reason.

    All in all, I think this game takes a lot to understand. You have to be willing to accept things for what they are and role with the game. Make a judgement on it once you are all the way through it, not at the start or middle, but at the complete end.

    This game is good and I would recommend it to others. It is a unique experience in gaming, and there is no other gaming experience like it.    … Expand

It does divide opinions, although in a fantastic way, such a shame for those who got spoiled.

    Such a disappointment. I bought this game to see more of Joel and Ellie, which is what they sold the game as, and got some random NPC's story that I care nothing about. The gameplay and graphics are phenomenal, and I would like to give this a 7 or 8, but the Last Of Us is a game that's focused on the story and this story is just awful.

    Rather than make this an epic farewell to our beloved character, they killed Joel like sh*t.
    Joel deserve better. It's not about his dead but about how he died.

    The story would be much much more better if Joel got separated from Tommy and somehow in life and dead situation and then saved by Abby, a long the way then Abby learn their names and invite both of them to her hideout.
    Joel of course would be refuse at first, but because she saved his life and too far away going back home he'll eventually agree.

    And the golf club, if that's Joel we know from the first game he will fight till the end. He will grab the club from the first swing, smash Abby's leg and before he can smash Abby's head, Manny shot him. And then Manny gave Abby the gun, Ellie comes in and saw Abby shot Joel to dead.

    That's would be more sense, and epic farewell to Joel.
    The end if Ellie finally let Abby live, we can understand and accept it.
    But after Abby brutally and tortured her figure father to dead and pursue her and in the end let her free, WTF is that!

    Just like the first one, this game will leave lasting memories and I thank everyone involved in its making. I didn't find the gameplay as challenging as I was expecting and I wish the puzzle had a bit more depth than finding codes for safes. But i bought the game to experience an emotional and intense interactive story, and I got what I wanted.

Gráficos excepcionais, os melhores da atual geração. Jogabilidade muito boa, trilha sonora e os sons do game sao excelentes. A história, apesar de polêmica, também é muito boa, falta interpretação do oessoal. I felt sick from it, I felt angry I swore not to buy this game, but after some days of that going by and clearing my head I said I owe this game at least to try it because TLoU is my favorite game ever made.

    I don't even have to say this but Visually this game is breathtaking, the characters, and environments look the best I've seen in a game. The music is perfect for it as well but I knew it would be the case especially the work of Gustavo Santaolalla.

    What I was most worried about was of course the story. I honestly didn't believe I could like it but I was surprised and ended up loving it. No matter how much I hate what happens to Joel, by the end of the game I learned to forgive like Ellie did. The game puts you in the shoes of someone you despise bascially from the beginning but I think they did a really good job at telling her story, her reasons for doing what she did, and making me empathize with Abby.

    This story shows how obsessions in this case for revenge can make you lose everything and everyone you care about. Abby's story starts from the point when she finished her mission for revenge, and Ellie's starts at starting down that same path. The game makes you do stuff with Ellie that I don't really want to, and you get the feeling she doesn't either, and you watch as she is slowly spiraling and losing her humanity. Meanwhile Abby who basically DID lose most of her humanity is on a story of redemption just like Joel in the first game...

    In the end I was hoping BOTH would survive and I was hoping Ellie would not kill Abby and lose her humanity, which thankfully she didn't. This game is about love, and what people are willing to do for it, about obsession, consequences and loss. Both characters lose almost everything in their stories of revenge and redemption. I for one think it's a beautiful game and I hope they make a third one because I want to see a a better or happier ending to Ellie's story.    … Expand

    Joel in one simulator.

    Whatever the writers were thinking with this game will go down in history as one of the most confusing and ill conceived ideas ever. if you are a fan of the first game and it's stellar writing and characters you will absolutely hate this game.

    Played the game, gameplay was slow and unintuitive. At worst the gameplay was agonizing and at great it was scarcely an improvement of the first. The story was absolutely terrible, made no sense.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
