Amo el primer juego y amo esta segunda parte, bien es cierto que hay momentos un tanto tediosos, pero consigue enganchar y mantenerte en tensión. No juzguéis y disfrutarlo. La historia pese a lo que sucede es muy buena, y quien diga lo contrario es solo por rabia.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is badly written. You can defend it as much as you want but at the end of the day it just is. Is a 0 out of 10 full with plot holes.
I ll give you 3 examples in Just the first 90 minutes of a 30 hours game:

Plot hole 1: Tommy and Joel giving out their names which they would never do. Druckman try to defend it by saying they let their guard down as 4 years have passed. This argument falls completely apart when you consider how caution Tommy was when Ellie and Joel arrives to him in the first game. Tommy by that point has been living for years in Jackson and even when his brother arrives he did not let his guard down until he recognize him.

Plot hole 2: When you play as Abby in Seattle every one at the wolf army realizes shes gone after only one day. But at the begining of the game she had been traveling for weeks with aprox 6 People only to find Joel when she was already a part of a different organization than the fireflies (she was a wolf by then). So did the wolfs let abby and her friends go with supplies and ammo for weeks so she can find her daddy s killer when she was one of the best soldiers of the wolf organization and also that the wolf organization has a planned to strike at lev s Island with abby in front of the first line of attack?

Plot hole 3: abby was saved by Joel but not a single second thoughts of the assasination that she was about to do when the person she was looking for has Just saved her life?

Plot amor: Owen tells abby that when the others see the town of Jackson they will want to return as it was too big. So What does Neil Druckman do to solved this? He sent Joel directly to abby a few hours later.

Bad writing at its finest! And yes. This is only 90 minutes in a 30 hours game.

I’m not sure why I see so many bad reviews. This game was awesome start to finish. Great writing, great gameplay and thought it really added to the lore of the first game. What happened to Joel didn’t bother me. The flashbacks were a nice touch. Really the game was the perfect sequel and couldn’t ask for anything more.

By the end though when the credits rolled, I felt completely different then I did half way through the game. Is it perfect? No. What it is though is a sequel that I am glad we got. I think it does a great job by the end, giving us the closure we needed for this story. For anyone who hates on this game, I see it as one of two things. Either they read the leaks and didn't bother to finish the game, or they just really didn't like it. Once the third act of the game gets going, it was hard to put the controller down. From gameplay to story moments it truly kept me into it right to the end. At first I thought this was a typically revenge story. It's so much more. By the end i started to grow attached to all the characters including Abby. At first I didn't care that much about Abby and her friends. By the end though when Abby ad Ellie's stories finally reconnect with each other, I felt for both characters. The ending I'll admit could have been a bit better but I am still very pleased with how it was handled. Overall I did end up liking my experience with this game. Expand

Among the best graphics and sound on the PS4. The AI might be worse than the last game. I don't know how many times I would be spotted and just duck into some weeds and the human enemy would give up pursuit (on hard difficulty). The theme of "violence begets violence" is far to preachy from a game and developer that gice you no choice but to kill hardea of enemies on the way to the endgame

I originally wasn't going to get this right away because I like to wait for sales when I buy games but a friend got it and I tried playing it to see what the big deal was. Sadly, I have to agree with some of the other reviewers. This comes off more as a poorly written fan-fiction riddled with plot-holes and contrivances where they shoe-horned in culture-war issues to make a statement than a real attempt at an engaging and interesting story-line like the first one. I'm very disappointed since I actually enjoyed The Last of Us and this was presented as a continuation of Joel & Ellie's story. SPOILER: It isn't! They kill off Joel near the very beginning and replace him with a woke character to pander to the SJW crowd.

I don't understand why game companies feel the need to virtue-signal their "wokeness" to people whom a vast majority of won't buy the game anyway. Why do this? Why not just make the games that a majority of gamers actually want to play? Catering to a select (and noisy) minority who rarely if ever buy your product is a very poor way to run a business and a great way to drive away those of us who buy games because we enjoy escaping from reality for a while to have fun. We don't want our entertainment to be a part of that which is constantly shoving the culture-war in our faces. STOP IT!! We are not your congregation or looking to be converted to/from your religion! In any case, I'm barely giving this a 2 out of ten and that is solely for the graphics quality being pretty good, but graphics can't carry a crap story that won't let you escape the damned culture-war that is tearing this country apart.

An incredible game in all aspects, the story somewhat cliché but with plot twist at the right time and to the point it is forgiven since it is human nature, I would have loved that they introduced new items and the mechanics of creating knives were preserved I hope the multiplayer arrives soon

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game was horrible. The game starts out very nice and for about two hours it feels like the game we wanted, but then they kill Joel off while Ellie watches. Now we have a revenge game which seems like it's going to go great right? Wrong. So Ellie hunts down these people that killed Joel but when we think we are going to finally fight this new character who is called Abby who was the one who killed Joel the screen goes black. Now we are forced to play as Abby for the same days we just played as Ellie just with a different perspective. So now the player is playing the character they hate for killing Joel for 10 hours which is about the same gameplay time played as Ellie. Sounds great right? No it isn't. Abby's gameplay is supposed to make us theplayer feel something for her character but how can we when she killed Joel? Anyways skipping ahead to when the screen went black with Ellie, Abby is ready to kill Tommy and Ellie but not before killing a new character called Jesse. Now you the player is forced to attack and hopefully kill Ellie who we were playing as? What? Oh yeah! So you fight Ellie as Abby and Abby gets the best of Ellie. Okay. So Ellie and friends return home and now Ellie is living a happy life with Dine a new character and her baby who Dine gave birth to Jesse's child? Who is Jesse? A new character Abby killed off. I know just listen it gets worse. So now Tommy show's up on this Farm Ellie, Dine, and their son are living on after he was shot by Abby during the meet up of Ellie and Abby. He is **** up from that which makes him a whole new Tommy. Tommy tells Ellie he has heard from traders that their is a woman traveling up the coast. So now Tommy wants Ellie to go to finally kill this Abby but Ellie has a family now so she can't go. Ends up she decided to go and try kill Abby again. Yes I said again. So Ellie gets to the end of the game but decides to leave her alive after you fight her??? Ellie returns home after this fight with Abby where she lost two fingers to Abby during the fight to an empty farm house. Dine leaves her with their son and she can't play the guitar anymore due to the fingers lost. Their are some nice flashbacks in this game but that's it. The combat is great and it's very satisfying to kill every enemy. The music and graphics are on point but could use a bit of a fix but the story is all over the place. 4 or 5 out of 10. Not a fun game makes's you feel like you did nothing but play a gsme about nothing. Expand

I loved every Uncharted game and I had even more love for the first Last of Us. So far Naughty Dog had never let me down and trust me I wanted this to be good too. Even if it probably wouldn't be as good as the first game, I was hoping I'd still love it. So far Naughty Dog had never let me down and trust me I wanted this to be good too. Even if it probably wouldn't be as good as the first game, I was hoping I'd still love it. I did see the leaks and I wasn't sold on the story, I was always afraid for Joel since they announced the game, but I was hoping they wouldn't go that predictable route and if it had to happen it would have been done in a way the character deserved.

Now I already knew Joel's death was gonna be brutal, I knew Abby's motive, I knew we had to play as Abby, I knew we were had to fight Ellie. In spite of knowing this, I still had this hope, that they would do it in a way that would be good.

After I started playing it I hated to find out Joel was being killed so early on in the game, it feels so rushed, like they couldn't wait to get rid of him. They made him fall for a trap which isn't like him, made him die at the hands of a group of cowards who were all in favor of Abby torturing him in a disgusting way, and even have someone spit on him... I felt angry like they wanted, but more at ND for choosing this path than anything else. The next part is the part I did enjoy, there are amazing details in the game, and some very suspenseful moments, jump scares. All good, until, you have to switch to Abby.
A very unlikeable character which they try to make you sympathize with, her dad saves a zebra, what a good guy right? Then he rationalizes killing a child, without her given consent, for an experiment to maybe make a vaccine. A vaccine that is very overrated cause if a bloater gets you, a clicker rips out your throat, or a runner smashes your brains in, what good did the vaccination do?
Abby said if it was her she would want him to do the operation, but her dad never said he would, because a real loving father wouldn't kill his precious daughter, he would take her and run, and you know it.
Like Joel did with Ellie. So he went to get Ellie and Abby's dad threatened him, he got shot and died. Just like almost all of the fireflies, yet Abby seems to somehow know a guy named Joel Miller did it, hunts him down for years with a group who, again, apparently agree Joel deserves the most horrific death... This whole plot is ridiculous and poorly written.

Not only do I not agree with Abby and I don't feel bad for her cause I already know what she did, it's bad writing to have her do something so disgusting to our favourite character and afterwards try to get me to sympathize. Not gonna happen, especially with a very short flashback. Then we are stuck playing as her for hours, she is so unlikable, they try to convince you how good she is by saving Lev and Yara. She even betrays and kills her own people, people she knew! For these 2 kids she just met. How is that not "worse" then what Joel did? He travelled the country with Ellie and built a relationship with her, he killed people he didn't know to save her. it's just so hypocritical to me.

After all that mess you have to fight Ellie, It felt awful, I didn't want to do it, I only hated Abby more.
Ellie is left with PTSD and goes after Abby once again, but not before you have to go back to playing that horrible character once more.
After all the trouble she goes through, and losing 2 fingers, out of nowhere Ellie decides to not go through with it. it makes absolutely no sense to me that she would go all this way and for some reason can forgive Abby for what she did out of hate to someond she dearly loved, even tho she couldn't forgive Joel for something he did out of love.

I get that Ellie felt conflicted, that she felt bad about resenting Joel, being cold to him, because of how much it hurt when she lost him and saw him like that. I get that she probably was angry at herself aswell... but it doesn't take away how empty the ending is. She has no one left, everything good in her life is ruined, destroyed. She can't even play guitar anymore, her last connection to Joel, and leaves behind his guitar. This game was designed to make you feel horrible, which is not why I play games...

Not to mention that Joel & Ellie = The heart of The Last of Us, it's what made the first game amazing. How the wounded man learned to love again, even tho he didn't want to, he didn't want to open up, he didn't want to get attached to Ellie, it was too painful for him because of what he lost and she reminded him of that. But she melted his heart, and Ellie found something in Joel she never seemed to have had before.

The trailers also made us think that Joel was gonna be alot more involved in the game, by flat out lying and tricking us with using an older image of Joel in scenes that turned out to just be flashbacks of Joel before the events in this game take place, and it was all on purpose just to deceive and make the player feel bad.
Sadly, you officially, and massively, disappointed me and other fans, for the first time...

Yeah it was upsetting that Joel was killed and I wasn’t a fan of Abby through much of the game even while playing her. And yeah I might have let her die a time or ten when I didn’t have to, but it made me feel a little better. I watched as Abby tried to redeem herself by helping Yara and Lev. And I watched as Ellie became darker in her quest for revenge. The last fight between Ellie and Abby is downright brutal. In my opinion, Abby was the winner in the end. Abby and Lev leave the resort together while Ellie finds she she no home to go back to. The only reason I left a point off is because Naughty Dog should have put in a cut scene when Ellie successfully releases the first runner at the Resort to wreak havoc on the Rattlers. You can hear the screams, groans and gun shots, but it would have been better if you could have watched it all. I sincerely hope that Naughty Dog makes a part 3. If they do, I hope they don’t try to play it safe to try to appease some of the fans. By the way, anyone that thinks the whole lesbian and transgender business should have been left out of the game...grow up. You have no problem with characters getting hung, gutted, burned or riddled with bullets, but anything having to do with LGBT and you get squeamish. That says more about you then the game itself. Just except the fact that your a bigot and move on with your life. You should just play it safe and stick with nintendo games. Expand

    Pros
    - fantastic graphics - excellent music and sound design - better level design than 1
    - slightly better companion AI than 1 Cons - woeful enemy AI
    - Clunky outdated controls and animations - 6-10 hours too long - cheap storytelling, boring revenge plot, poorly fleshed out characters
    - feels like it could have been a PS3 game gameplay wise - tacky manipulation tactics made for you to feel empathy yet none of the characters warranted it. All in all I was hugely disappointed with the game, I finished it today and I'll be trading it in later on. The story is terrible, I honestly think one of the clickers could have come up with something better than this generic trope riddled monstrosity. I didn't care about Ellie OR Abby, just two bits of crap with different coloured glitter. The gameplay was mind numbingly dull, 10 minutes of gameplay followed by either an overly long cutscene, or an hour of going round and round a larger map finding crap to craft neccesary things with. Take away the wandering around all over picking up bits of scissors and the game itself would be around 7 hours I bet. The awful doom music everytime you got into a combat scenario got so annoying too, as did the silly noise whenever someone was close to spotting you (seriously it's relentless even when you're in cover) The combat mechanics were better than TLOU1 but not much, it felt very last gen, as did the gunplay which is Uncharted 1 levels of awful. It's not a bad game by any stretch, but neither is it the 10/10 masterpiece so many sycophantic pseudo-intellectual reviewers paint it as with their pompous waffles. It's a decent enough stealth game at times with a garbage story, awful writing, horrible characters and gameplay from the last gen. The only thing it really excels at is the graphics, sound design and voice acting. The rest of the game is simply mediocre truth be told. Would I recommend it? Only a deep sale, it's not worth more than £15, luckily I'll get most of my money back in trade - I feel for players that bought it digitally.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Understanding TLOU 2 has an important factor in being open to the story the developers wanted to tell you. This game was done a massive injustice before it even launched, with people deciding they didn't like it based on leaks, some of which turned out to not even be true. The game had a user score of 3.5 within the first few hours of being released despite a 25 hour~ average completion time. It was review bombed.

Today as I review there is definitely bad faith reviewers on both sides. Some people are so angry at people liking the game, they review it a low score to keep it low. Some people are so angry at people hating the game, they review it 10/10 just to try combat the low score. Neither are worth listening to and are pretty easy to identify.

The truth, really, is that the game has some flaws, and it has a lot of pro's in my opinion that made it an 8/10 game for me. The game isn't a revenge story like people imply and instead a story about revenge not being the closure it seems. It was a beautiful story the whole way through and while a certain gameplay aspect about half way through made me *really* mad at first, I came around pretty heavily by the end. All I hope is that anyone reading this decides for themselves on the game, instead of hopping on the bandwagon of hate it has generated even before release.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really wanted to love this game and It gets off to a strong start. Having us play as Ellie is a natural progression and I liked seeing where she and Joel had ended up. Joel's death was sudden and brutal and could have been a fantastic plot hook for the rest of the game, unfortunately the rest of the game doesn't do him justice.

The Ellie half of the story is competent but nothing special. The flashbacks with her and Joel proved that they could have made a fantastic game and were highlights of the entire story. I'm not gonna spoil this part of the game because i genuinely believe its worth playing. So after Murdering half a city, the Ellie crew are forced to make a hard decision and give up the hunt for Abby (the person who killed Joel). Then the gods of story exposition have her show up in a cut scene where she murders one of the only likable new characters and holds you at gunpoint.

    Then it cuts to black.

This is where things go very wrong as you are forced to play though many hours as Abby in a poor attempt to make you feel sorry for her. The story had me hooked enough and the gameplay was good enough that i was willing to suffer though the boring tripe that was the Abby half of the game. It was like a teenage love drama and the only bright side was that i knew most of the cast would be dead soon. I'm not sure if i can remember a single one of their names so clearly they were well written and fully developed characters.

At some point she meets a child who happens to also be a transsexual because the gods of story exposition were feeling extremely heavy handed that day. I was then forced into another couple of hours of that weren't even related to the main plot. I wasn't sure it was possible, but the new characters were even less interesting than the teenage drama crew.

As far as the political stuff is concerned, its nowhere near as bad as some of the review bombers would have you believe. Although i admit It can be a little preachy at times its usually just sat quietly in the background. I do have to agree with the people that think the whole concept of a trans woman going though all the necessary procedures to transition in a time where most people are making shivs out of broken pairs of scissors is completely ridiculous. I could keep talking about the political stuff but whats the point? Its boring, its been done to death and video games are meant to be fun.

So we finally are back though the Abby half of the story and it gets resolved by having us beat the crap outta Ellie for killing the Teen drama crew and then letting her go... My score keeps going down as I write this. We go through all that to have it resolved in a 3 minute fist fight. Apparently Abby didn't learn that letting the Ellie (The literal angel of death that has murdered half of Seattle) live will get all your friends murdered.

The last bit of this review is going to be as token as the last bit of the game. You play as Ellie again. She gets PTSD, leaves her wonderful peaceful life with her wife and child to travel to California to go kill Abby (again). You then play as Abby and get to watch her get punched in the face by a burly man. You then play as Ellie, murder some biker dudes, rescue some slaves and finally catch up to Abby. Then you have a fight in the sea and let her go. After abandoning your whole life (twice) and murdering most of the people in two cities.

Gameplay 9/10 - It takes elements that worked in the first game and makes them work better.

Visuals 10/10 - Stunning, i could almost smell the fungus and regret.

Story 3/10 - Play the first half and then go and act out your own ending with sock puppets. it'll probably be more fulfilling and wont take up 15 hours (unless you want it to).

This review 6/10 - I wrote it at 3AM and I still think I did a better job than TLOU P2 writers.

Amazing game and it is sad how many people are not even giving it a chance and/or are just too close minded to understand the story and the ending. The last of us 2 crafts a story about forgiveness and revenge whereas both Ellie and Abby go down a path of revenge that leads to another path of forgiveness after losing everything around them. The game has amazing themes and makes the player understand Abby and what her motives were when she killed Joel. This story doesn’t really have a villain. Both Ellie and Abby have their motivations for seeking revenge and it is understandable, but neither of them are villains. They are just trying to seek justice for their loved ones and in that process, they lose a lot of themselves. Abby loses her loved ones as she focuses solely on training and her obsession of killing Joel and even after she fulfils her goal, she still has nightmares of her father’s death. This shows that taking revenge did not really help her and she lost all of her humanity in the process. Her humanity only comes back in the pivotal theater scene where she spares Ellie and Dina for Lev and she decides to leave them. Ellie also goes through a similar story where she starts by obsessing over revenge, losing herself in the killing which takes a huge toll on her as she becomes a completely different person. She kills many people on her path to revenge, including a pregnant Mel which takes the biggest piece of humanity from Ellie. Naughty Dog shows the player how much this kill affects Ellie and how she feels about what she is doing. She is so unsure the entire game and Naughty Dog nails that feeling for the player. As the player we feel the uncertainty of Ellie’s choices and see how revenge is consuming her humanity. As we go through the story, we see Ellie lose almost everything. She loses Jesse, Dina, JJ, and even her own fingers so she can’t even play the guitar Joel gave her which shows just how much Ellie lost on her path of revenge. By the end, Ellie realizes that forgiveness is the better choice than revenge and sees that revenge will give her nothing but pain so she spares Abby in the final fight. Overall, this game is an amazing sequel to one of the best games ever made and is just as good, if not better than the first one. This game makes the player feel a plethora of emotions throughout and i love it. The gameplay is on another level as well. The gameplay is miles better than the first The Last of Us as we have a refined movement and combat system. The gameplay is even better than the story and i loved it. Expand

It all makes sense. We never see the other side of the story, Abby's dad was the head surgeon that Joel killed saving Ellie, which most of humanity would agree was a selfish decision. A normally good person, Abby becomes angry and revenge-driven, training for the next 4 years to become the person who would kill Joel for what he did, and she finally got her chance and brutally took it. In the time following that, she questions her own humanity and what she's become, she doesn't feel better after killing Joel on the inside, and on the outside, everyone sees her as this monster. She gets an opportunity to redeem herself by helping Yara and Lev, 2 defected Scars, ultimately risking her life by traversing a decades old ground zero hospital with the oldest, deadliest Infected inside and then escaping the Island of the Scars, betraying her own faction in the process. All that to finally come back to the Aquarium and find her best friend (ex-lover) and his baby momma dead, lying in their own blood. Little did she know, all her friends' recent deaths were the consequence of killing Joel in front of Ellie, who had just found a new purpose in her life by making the decision the night before to reconcile with Joel...

Rewind - Joel saves Ellie, lies to her about what happened and they both start a new life in Jackson over the next 4 years. Joel finally confesses to Ellie what he did and for the last 2 years before the events of this game, Ellie doesn't want anything to do with Joel and avoids him. Finally the night before the events of this game, Ellie talks to Joel and despite him taking away her life's "purpose" to potentially become the cure, she still loves him and finds new purpose in choosing to forgive him and start rebuilding their relationship. In comes Abby the next day, who dishes out her long-awaited, brutal revenge against Joel for killing her father, dismantling the Fireflies and potentially robbing humanity of a cure. This event basically "robs" Ellie again of a purpose and she turns into what Abby became all those years ago, angry and revenge-driven. Ellie incites allies and spends the course of the game hunting down all who were present at Joel's death, killing many of Abby's friends along the way (and her dog), including a woman she didn't know was pregnant, which made Ellie sick to her stomach.

Fast Forward - Abby, feeling redeemed from brutally killing Joel by helping Yara and Lev, finds her best friend (ex-lover) and his baby momma dead, lying in their own blood. She tracks Ellie back to the theater and becomes rage-fueled again, cause from her perspective, Joel was the bad guy and got what he deserved and she let Ellie live, not knowing Ellie would come after her and kill all her friends. During the confrontation, she kills Jessie, shoots Tommy in the face, beats Ellie to a pulp, and if not for Lev reminding her of her own humanity, she would have slit a pregnant Dina's throat, as payback for her dead pregnant friend. Ultimately, she let's Dina and Ellie live, and leaves with Lev to Santa Barbara to find the Fireflies.

Fast Forward even more - Ellie, still experiencing PTSD and feeling she owes Joel by killing Abby, travels to Santa Barbara. Abby doesn't want to fight anymore, but Ellie insists, thinking it's the only way she can be at peace and avenge Joel. In the end, Ellie is about kill Abby, but decides not to, ending the cycle of violence after realizing that Abby's death won't "fix" anything for her and reminding herself of forgiveness i.e. Joel. Abby and Ellie go their separate ways.

Joel murdered Abby's dad saving Ellie,
then Abby murders Joel in front of Ellie,
then Ellie murders most of Abby's friends,
then Abby murders Jessie, shoots Tommy in the face and almost murders a pregnant Dina, but decides not to,
then Ellie almost murders Abby, but decides not to, ending their cycle of violence.

The game tries to hide its lameness by 'going woke' to give it notoriety and relevance, but it doesn't hide the poor story and average gameplay. I give this 2 stars because it looks stunning and it is not the fault of all the good programmers and artists, but every game will look this good, soon, so that just isn't enough, anymore. What a horrid waste of 5 or 6 years of development and talent. And, the ending of the game...the story-line finale is so intentionally terrible and a slap in the face to any of the characters or anyone who bothered to slog through this depressing dark venture for 30 hours. It could've been just the overall vibe of this game is very nihilistic, but it's story/themes just craft a very hollow experience. After sluggishly finishing the 2nd half of the game I knew this would be the first and only time I would complete this title. Although it isn't all bad the game is by far one of the most graphically impressive titles on the PS4 to date and I applaud the lengths ND when with the accessibility features(granted it brakes the game with certain features on).
In the end this title feels below average especially coming from an industry titan like Naughty Dog; it surely isn't a 0/10 nor is it a 10/10. An below average story with tired gameplay.

Unfortunately the flow of the game is broken up by the narrative being told and gameplay In the world is disjointed in service of that.
Playing through it was like enjoying a Walking Dead movie. I was into the characters and story but it was something I was fine thinking about for a little bit and then being done with it.
If you’re replaying the game, whether on new game plus or a harder difficulty then I think the enjoyment of the story will continually be diminished. You may as well be watching a gritty zombie film or TV show. And if you’re less interested in the many seeing the many cutscenes more than a few times then you’re left with the solid stealth/action combat that is pretty non-linear. Story is the most important part of this game and takes precedent over everything else.
Overall the game is well crafted in all of the parts that make it up. It’s also very diverse with its cast of characters if that sort of thing matter to you.
I was left a bit bummed by the conclusion of the game but I respected the choices it made as a piece of art on its own. The gameplay was enjoyable but not wholly satisfying due to the game being structured for the story.

The Last Of Us ended perfectly and that's the way it should stay and be remembered. This piece of utter garbage won't ruin The Last of Us for me and it shouldn't ruin the experience for anyone else either. It simply does not exist. It's bad writing, just a bad fanfiction. The advice I'm trying to give here is: don't feel bad if you're feeling like a bad fan for not liking it. Ellie and Joel won't have this kind of conclusion to their story, not after everything they've been through. I just know Joel and Ellie are somewhere at Jackson right now, being happy and playing guitar with not a care in the world, not worrying about the past, because they've got nothing to regret after all. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At the end of The Last of Us Part II, there are several scenes which end on a cut to black which holds for a few seconds before the next scene begins. During many of the holds, I thought that was it: the game was done and that was the end. And though some were more happier and some were devastating, each of them would have been a powerful ending. The way that each new scene could rephrase or restate everything going before it was astounding. Any of these endings would have worked but still each new one deepened my appreciation for the game.

The only reason any of that works, then is because the game first weaves an intensely intricate story, spending hours establishing the setting, introducing and developing characters, and presenting themes and motifs that are echoed in these "endings".

Of course this game doesn't do that on its own, it obviously leans on its predecessor. This is the best kind of sequel, one that deepens your appreciation of the original not by retreading the same points, instead it deepening the emotional core of the first game. I think "Part 2" is an appropriate name. This isn't telling the next "The Last of Us" story. This is telling the second half of the same story.

I don't think I need to say that the presentation (graphics, audio, VO/MC performances) of the game is amazing. The gameplay was enjoyable, making only a few quality of life improvements from the formula of the first game. I played on a harder-than-I-normally-would difficulty, which forced me to be much more tactical, taking time to scour for supplies and choose carefully when to use them. Playing this way helped the gameplay build into the dire, fight and claw for your life mood of the setting.

I sympathize with anyone who wanted this to be a different game. I've been there before and it's not fun. But by taking the game on its own terms, what I got from this game was an immensely impactful emotional experience. While not everyone will love the story even on its terms, I don't think it's fair to compare the game against what you hoped. Because what it we do have is something pretty amazing.

The point of Abby's character was not just to kill off the main character and get the audience pissed, then they would not have made her such a key character. It is to understand what is so wrong with revenge. It goes along the 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.' Ellie lost everything for revenge against Abby. When people look at the story line without some beautiful story of Ellie winning, they rate the game as a 0. Ellie and Abby are so similar by the end; I am surprised the homophobes are not rooting for Abby.
I don't like everything about the game. I played the first game, and hoped this new game would be even better. But, there is something wrong in my mind about having everything play out the way an audience wants it to in an apocalyptic setting. I like a story with a tragic ending. Maybe that isn't the game for everyone, but still. Y'all are acting like Naughty Dog just took your Binky away.

Second, it is repetitive. Third, it is 30 fps. Fourth, the scenario is confusing. Fifth, it has a lot of flashbacks. Expand

The problem I see here is that Druckman thought that at the beginning of the game when Joel confessed to Ellie that he lied to him about the cure, that would justify that hours later we would welcome his death as a liar, but Druckman lied worse to the fans, played with our expectations, and that is unforgivable Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the gameplay is fine the gameplay is fine everything is fine except the script to start there are filler characters who are lgbt and that absolutely forced except ellie she is the only one who is saved, the death of joel does not bother you disappoints you, the coincidence of that abby is contracted with joel is brutal and that on top of that abby's companions had the fence before they came is incredible and that on top of that joel is not suspicious of her, let's talk about abby abby is a character that is less good I think the director did not understand or did not understand that people were from the beginning on the side of joel and ellie the thing is that ellie had empathy with abby that is why in the end I did not kill her but abby never did the same with her and the worst thing they could have done is put her as a playable character since it doesn't let you have a complete experience the point is that abby ended up doing the same thing as joel and that she doesn't understand and that's my problem and it's l to history and the forced script.
    Thank you

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a slap in the face to everyone that loved the first game. Do not buy this and save your money. The truth and context of this game is much worse than the leaks. Before I get into one of the worst stories ever. The gameplay is very average in today's modern gaming generation. There are minor improvements from the first game and enemy AI is dumb as ever. There are more cut scenes and walking than actual gameplay. SPOILER ALERT..... they destroyed all of your favorite characters. They dumb down Joel's character on purpose to make him weak and stupid. In the first game he was very smart and had a ton of experience. He didn't even trust a guy that was sick on the road. He chose to run him over. Later we find out that stranger on the road was not sick and it was all a set up. They do everything to make you dislike Joel and continue to spit on him. They have a trans female/male shoot him in the leg and torture him with a golf club right in the first 2 hours of the game. They spit on him literally. They made Ellie unlikable and a selfish human being. She kills everyone and continued to blame Joel for saving her life. She cared so much in saving humanity because she has the immunity but instead she became a lesbian and chose not to reproduce. Let that sink in. She even let's Abby the one that tortured and murdered Joel in front of her get away with it. Abby also bit off two of Ellie's fingers. Her letting Abby go is basically saying Joel deserved dying. A loveable character who is the main character of the game. There was no justice for Joel. This game robbed everything from you just for shock value. The current narrative of destroying the male character to make the female character rise is very weak story telling. It is disrespectful to both genders. Females even hate it. Worst of all the pacing of the story is horrible. You literally play as Abby the character we hate for half the game. They tried so hard to make us like her but none of it worked. This game is a waste of time and money and should have never been created as a sequel. The critics are liars and they don't care about what the fans want. They only care about their political narrative and force you to like something that you will never accept. Then they insult you by calling you names because you don't like the product they are praising. They are the worst kind of human being. Trust the gamers that actually love playing the kind of video games you like. Those are the ones who you should listen to. Vote with your wallet and avoid this dumpster fire. Why care for a game created by a studio that is run by Neil Druckmann who is a male feminist and does not care about the fans and the people he works with. That's why 75 percent of Naughty dog left the company due to how he treated them. This game is created by people that don't care about you and backed by people that hate you. The game wasn't made for the fans and gamers. Vote with your wallets and avoid this at all cost. Especially how they are trying to trick everyone with false advertisement into buying this. Look it up on YouTube. Don't trust the shill media. Watch the negative videos about this game and you will see the truth. Long live Joel and RIP to The Last of Us franchise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Massive letdown. On the level of "The Last Airbender", which isn't worth being paid to see. I enjoyed the first half of the game, but the second half forces you to play as Abby, your enemy, and I literally just don't give a **** The writers are trying to make you empathize or see that everyone is human, but any functioning adult already knows this; we don't need a video game founded on violence to morally preach to us.

I put the game on very easy and was planning to power through to the end, skipping all cutscenes because I literally don't care about the characters and already killed most of them; but I was so mad I googled to see if I at least get to kill Abby at the end and found out I do not. So depressed, so let down. What a pointless story, it might be good for a child to play and learn about seeing both sides of a coin, but what parent would let their child play such a violent game? If I want to empathize with others, I'll watch a romcom, I bought this game to visit violence on my enemies in an imaginary world, not be preached to and watch them walk away, or feel their pity on me letting me walk away from them.

Even if they force me to play as my enemy (basically encourage metaphorical suicide), at least give me the choice to kill her in the end (the power of games is choice, vs movies/books). Nope. She gets to live.

Also, lots of lame forced moments where you can't control your actions. You could easily shoot your enemy, but instead it goes to a cutscene and they get the jump on you. And then you chase them but they are invulnerable. All in a game where as soon as Joel turns his back, Abby shotguns his leg off.

Literally selling this game on eBay ASAP.
Literally created a metacritic account to give it a 1 because it's that bad.
Literally never buying a Naughty Dog game again until it's out for a year and reading all the spoilers to make sure it's not some lame preach-fest for children.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game dives deep into the world of black and white through imagery like no other. The greatest part of The Last of US Part 2 is its vulnerability. It allows the gamer to immerse themselves into a game that is much more than a revenge story. We're brought into a game where we learn that there aren't "good guys and bad guys," instead we see that every individual in the game has a story in which they're the good guy. For example, every NPC has a name they're referred to, to further express the concept that each person is in fact a human who may believe that their actions benefit the greater cause. Moving on, we see Ellie, who has reacted like a moth to a flame by hunting down Abby, evolve to finally forgive Joel and herself. In doing so, she overcomes this blind rage, reflecting on what she has lost along the way. Instead of choosing to move on initially, she's given up much more than losing Joel: a family, friends, her fingers that inhibit playing a song that holds significance. The game conquers a bleak concept of two people living happily ever after and creates a refreshing story that shocks and provides values in which we all can learn from. Empathy. Expand

The graphics were great and i would give them a 9/10. The story was maybe a 7/10 experience for me, the start and the middle of the game were fine, but the ending i didn’t really like. (now there will be spoilers) The ending would have been way better if the game just ended on Dina and Ellie living happy lives but the part of the story where Ellie went to hunt Abby down was in my opinion very unnecessary. The fact that Ellie didn’t even kill Abby made it even more pointless, and in my opinion that part of the story could have been completely left out. The ending was unnecessarily bad when we could have had, like i said before a happy ending with Ellie and Dina living happy lives. Expand

Does the good game mechanics ang gorgeous graphics really matter all that much in a story based game if the actual story is **** trash? No. And I didn't play Tlou and Tlou 2 just to shoot zombies and look at nice landscapes ... tlou 2 story is bad, hence, the hole game is bad, does it look good? Yes. Does it

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
