I understand why controversy surrounds it, but I truly hope that folks realize the controversy was inevitable. This is game designed to put you through its paces, to force you to experience its narrative. It’s not a game about choices, which by itself makes it sort of a throwback in these days of almost infinite character design and open worlds. This is a game with a story to tell, and it requires you to travel with it.

And what a story it is, far more akin to a novel than a game. You won’t be able to empathize with one character throughout, because that character’s actions will force you to reevaluate your feelings. Likewise, your initial impressions of other characters will change because of their deeds and motivations. I’ve never seen anything like in a game before. It’s clear that enormous thought and planning and artistry went into this story before any programmer touched a keyboard.

Perhaps that is what impresses me most about the game, that Naughty Dog had a singular vision and, holy hell, did they follow through on it. I still find it hard to grasp the sheer scope of it all, the ridiculous beauty of the mountains surrounding Jackson, the heartbreaking devastation of Seattle, the set pieces that had me as tense as I’ve ever felt during a game. I can’t tell you how many times I asked, “How did they do that?” Even though it’s been seven years since the original, it’s hard to believe they pulled off this massive — there’s no other word for it — world in such detail.

I will play it again, but not anytime soon. I want to approach it after it’s not so fresh in my mind. If you are on the fence, or have been concerned by the mixed or negative reviews—please, give it a shot. This game was created by talented professionals working at the very peak of their powers. You may love it, you may hate it, but I promise you that it is an experience you won’t soon forget.

Not to spoil anything all I say is - the story of this game is the epitome of the phrase "Every coin has two sides".
The technical aspects are also worth mentioning - game feels real even in the most unbelievable parts. From visuals to the sound and animation - every single artist who worked on this game deserves the highest praise.

I hope Cyberpunk 2077 will deliver, cause if not, then The Last Of Us Part II is easily my game of the year ;)

From Joel being brutally beaten to death to Tommy being left blind, paralyzed and alone, to being forced to play as Joel's killer for hours on end in a horrific attempt to make us empathize with his murderer, this whole game is a dumpster fire thats only purpose in existing is to sacrifice what we love on it to the woke gods. As far as I'm concerned there never was a Last of Us 2. Expand

It would make more sense if Ellie and Abby would turn out to be sisters. -if of course they could find a way to connect the dr. as their father which was killed by Joel- but it would be justifiable for why Ellie just couldn't kill Abby at the end. But instead we get a sequel that makes no sense other than annoy it's fans story-wise and completely ignore customer expectations. You build a single game to sell, but if you build a universe and want it to be consistent you should be listening to your customer-base and not bash them with extremely irrational and childish responses on social media or try to cut them off to react the way they want with their opinions. Nice combats and a difficulty that isn't too easy. The graphics in the game is probably 1:1 of uncharted 4 which is way better than the 95% of the titles on the ps4 system. The only downside with the game that I felt was:
-You can't pick up ammo from everyone you've killed even though they were holding a gun. -Sometimes the camera angle is a bit off and I'd like to be able to adjust it. It's always focusing more on the right side. I'd like everyone who likes good games to play this game. One of the best games ever made.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. * The ending of the first game sets up the second game really well for a couple of possible things to happen.

    1. Humanity is condemned due to the actions of Joel, so it makes sense that he'll be killed or face some major consequences in the second game. However, I think they killed him too early, in a random encounter, which is bad imo.

    2. It doesn't make sense for the fireflies to disband after they lose Ellie, they could've gone after her in the second game, and Abby's story could've been embedded within that main story. (PS: Saying that Abby's father was the last person who could perform the surgery, is a **** reason for the fireflies to disband. It's a throw-in reason that they made up for the second game and wasn't even foreshadowed in the previous game. Moreover, Abby's father had Mel as his best student. They also had the whole continent filled with all sorts of people and factions to go through and look for a competent enough doctor, so it doesn't make sense that there won't be any other doctor out there that can preform the surgery.)

    3. The second game could've been a second journey where Joel and Ellie try to fix their broken relationship, or maybe Ellie tries to escape to the fireflies, to save humanity and Joel follows her on this journey, trying to stop her and maybe the player gets some sort of choice, either help her get to the finish line (for real this time), or try to force her back and end up getting killed.

    * My thoughts on the story they chose to use:

    1. The story of the game is supposed to be a commentary on how revenge is bad and it'll only bring pain and hurt to you and the people around you. Ellie's action felt very unrealistic and stupid for her character to do, even if she was blinded by revenge. Abby spared Ellie twice, and in the second encounter, she spared her loved one, her kid and Tommy, she could've easily killed them on her way out after knocking Ellie out.
It felt very strange for Ellie to fully settle down then to choose to go after Abby, especially because that it could put Dina and JJ. in harms way. It felt like a contradiction to the type of person that she was set up to be in the previous game and in this one.

    2. The pacing of the story was really weird. It had a lot of unconnected plot points (Mostly the Abby section of the game), it felt like it could be a part of a standalone game, rather than half of the main game.

Even with everything that I discussed above, I still think that It's a very enjoyable game, that I loved and would recommend to people. However, It's not the type of game that I enjoyed enough, that I would replay it. I heard someone put it best, It would be good as a separate new IP, but sort of meh as the The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us 1 was practically a perfect game; beautiful graphics, captivating gameplay, flawed yet lovable and relatable characters, and many small moments that just made you fall in love with the game over and over again.

The Last of Us 2 has taken everything that made their first game so lovable, and quite literally killed it with a golf club.

The story and development is thrown out the window and replaced with an inconsistent and unlikeable SJW wet dream filled with depression. In a failed attempt to be inclusive and preach a positive message, the game instead perpetuates the very same racist and sexist themes it is trying to demonize.

You cannot say that your game is “inclusive” and “promotes equality” when the most “privileged” characters become the most likely to die at any given moment despite their relevance to the plot while the “least privileged” are given insane levels of plot armour and are not seen as “evil” or “flawed” no matter what they do.

This game absolutely fails at telling a likeable or relatable story that has a valid purpose or message; which is the main purpose of most single-player games such as this in the first place...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review will have spoilers but before i get to that - Save your time, money and energy and don't buy this game, I usually dont write reviews but this game was so bad i just had to. Dont let it soil the love and appreciation you've built up for characters in the first game. All the 10/10 and 5 star reviews and articles popping up are quite frankly fake, paid reviews by people who think they're above everyone else in "their artistic genius". After finishing the game I'm left with a really bad taste in my mouth. Its rare for me to honestly rate any game a zero because I always try to find the merit in games even if they have flaws. But this game has almost no good points, its merits are few and far between and whatever genuinely good parts present are ruined by the rest of the game. Im left wondering, after seven years of waiting THATS what we get?!
In a post-apocalyptic world where the possibilities for a game are endless THATS the best they could come up with?
It felt like a cruel slap in the face. Like raising a child for years (in this case the first instalment) and then having said child brutally gutted in front of you (second instalment- the last of us part 2)
It honestly felt like the infected weren't even a part of the game anymore and were just kind of an obstacle.

I just cannot seem to grasp just how idiotic the story is They've taken the surgeon who was supposed to develop a vaccine from Ellie in the first game, a seemingly unimportant almost insignificant character just taped to the end of the first game. And they've made him a basis for revenge for the entire sequel? Seriously? An entire well filled with fantastic ideas and you choose the worst possible one? I hope your directing career is over Neil. In what world is this game alright?!

Its very obvious that the team working on this game frantically tried to clean up druckmans story mess with clean visuals and solid gameplay but druckmans idiocy rooted within the game prevails at making it a misery to play.

Its horrible beyond belief, through and through. Killing off one of the most favourable characters of the franchise in literally the first 2 hours of the game in the worst way possible was the first indication to how terrible the rest of the game was going to be. There was no real purpose to it. Backtracking to the first game, Joel's daughter was also killed in the beginning and it was gut-renching and there was real emotion I feel like they were going for the same thing in the last of us 2 albiet very unsuccessfully

In the first game Ellie and joels relationship grows into a father daughter type relationship to fill the void joels daughter left

In the last of us 2, they attempt to patch it up with dina and tommy unsuccessfully This is a perfect point to state that the games heavy emphasis on the gay agenda also serves no purpose other than to gain the support of the gay community. It's horrifying what they've done in game. Jesse gets Dina pregnant, kill off Jesse so Dina and Ellie can have a family. The message here is that men are only good for breeding?

Another disastrous point is that the game tries to humanise Joels killer, it tries to justify her actions by having you play as her for half of the game, 12 HOURS. Honestly, that part was just torture, playing as a character you despise while the producers desperately try and paint her in a positive ligh.

And then forcing us, playing as a character we hate to fight a character we love? That's cruelty I honestly let tommy kill me (playing as abby) like a hundred times before i felt satisfied moving on I also let Ellie do the same Why? Why did neil try so hard to make Ellie the bad guy? Why did he try so hard to make joel the bad guy? Why did they introduce Abby into the franchise? Theres no reason to any of what this game contains In the end the game had a chance to redeem itself and at least score a 1 or 2 out of 10 by killing Abby, the character that everyone despises and no... of course, you couldn't grant me that luxury could you Neil. You had to let Abby escape, had to leave Ellie with PTSD, no family, no friends, no father figures, no fingers, no revenge. Nothing. You had to rip out everything, throw it on the floor, spit on it and make your fans lick up the garbage you created. You honestly had one job and failed, flailing miserably might i add

I wish i had never played this game, i wish i had left it at the first instalment without a sequel Thanks for nothing you piece of ****

The development is fine, save for some technical bugs (which shouldn't have made it into a game which has spent so many years in development, but that's beside the point).

The game looks beautiful, the writing is *competent* but incredibly uninteresting and the gameplay while also alright is an utter slog with how long this game is. Developers, don't focus on making the game as long as possible. Focus on your storytelling.

Unfortunately this game overstays its welcome at the halfway mark, and then you've still got 10+ hours to grind through. Not recommended. Just watch a playthrough instead of buying it.

The story is truly something I've never experienced in a game, the basic premise isn't new but the way it uses this premise and changes it in a way not often seen in mainstream media especially games. The basic premise is that it's a revenge story and this is nothing new, however what is new is that this game doesn't treat you like a badass for killing these people, it shines a light on the cruelty and negative impact violence has on people and demonstrates perfectly the impact & issues revenge killing ultimately brings. It also helps the gameplay is superior to the first, it's not a major overhaul or anything but just the quality of life improvements (such as the bows improved aiming) and the smoother gameplay (dodging is a huge part of making the gameplay flow a lot better than the first) make a huge difference to the overall experience. To end, both in the story & technical department, The Last of Us Part II is amazing and I would recommend everyone play it for themselves.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves"

    A complete disappointment.
Seven years waiting for a total nonsense. The plot is stupid, and a certain point ,is repetitive and boring.

I have the unpopular opinion of liking this game I suppose. I don’t think it was perfect, there are a few moments in the story where I just said to myself, ‘why did they include that? Nothing came of it?’. But most of these things I could ignore.

What I couldn’t ignore was the ending. The ending left me pretty sad. I didn’t like who Ellie had become, her bad decisions essentially leave her utterly alone and that was incredibly frustrating and sad to watch. I understand why it ended the way it did, Ellie brought it upon herself, she has to face the consequences. But I can’t help but feel it could have ended slightly differently with a happier tone. An ending where Ellie still faces the consequences but at least has the opportunity to redeem herself off screen. Spoiler - It also is revealed that the one thing keeping her memory of Joel alive is also gone. So it’s double sad!

On the plus side, I think Naughty Dog deserves props to the way in which they present this story. Seeing the tale play out from the perspective of the two opposing sides was very refreshing and left me torn and angered when seeing the two fight. I verbally said many times while playing ‘why are you making me do this game!’. It challenged me to empathise with both sides and I found it hard not too, so when it did come to the characters fighting I really didn’t want anyone to get hurt or win! It had my heart in a grip and would not let go. This is one of the reasons I like this game, no other game has made me feel this kind of pain before. I could literally feel my heart having pains! (I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a stroke).

The story is definitely not free of its flaws and the gameplay is the same traditional Naughty Dog style, which I don’t mind. But I know some people are looking for more initiative game play mechanics. I can respect that. But this is definitely, in my opinion one of the best games I have played when you put every aspect together.

It is a Naughty Dog game so great visuals and sound design are a guarantee but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve recognition for how Amazing everything looks and sounds, and it truly does look and sound beautiful. Something else I can really appreciate from this game is the amount of little details added into this world. You can find so many letters and visuals that tell stories, I personally found it really interesting to read and search around the environments. Also another thing I really liked was the level design, dependent on the pacing of the game the environments sometimes are smaller to move you along quicker but when they are not they are much vaster than the first game and really enjoyable to explore. I also love looking for the safe codes, you need to look for clues to unlock them and enter the code yourself which I thought was a neat addition to the game.

Something else I really liked was Abby has a fear of heights so when you stand too close to an edge and look down she starts to panic, I thought that was some awesome attention to detail.

Final thoughts, I would say try it out for yourself because everyone has an opinion on this game, my view is that good art challenges the views of the consumer. It is not good practice for a story to keep the consumer feeling safe and comfy through a story as this is not good story telling, it makes you feel nothing. Good story telling takes you out of your comfort zone, it makes you angry, worried, scared, excited. And this game certainly had people angry. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think this game challenge people and in my opinion, that’s what art is supposed to do.

This game seems to be an awful lot like marmite, and I love marmite.

    Thanks for reading x

Ps. Ellie and Dina made my heart feel very warm and fuzzy.

However, it's a bloody zombie apocalypse. No one is safe from anyone. Even though the story broke my heart I still think it is an amazing story, and I wouldn't feel the way I do if it wasnt. I just wish it was concluded in a more rewarding way. The gameplay oh the gameplay. Its amazing, just like the 1st which is what I was hoping for....but miles better.

The game design and environment art is on point and the best I have ever seen in a game, this will look the dog's on PS5.

After the first play through I felt drained, sad and still I wanted more.

Well done Neil and everyone at ND for not making a lovey dovey game and sticking to the genre and building on the main character in this franchisewhich is the world. I am really gutted you guys are having to deal with this horrible backlash.

I just wanted to add that I think it is amazing how many of you finished the game on the 19th and 20th June, and gave such poor reviews with no mention of how short the story and game was. Joking aside you should get in contact with Anthony Caliber and give him a heads up on some of the routes and tricks you used to to finish the whole game so quickly.

9/10 from me. I hope there will be a Part 3. Fingers crossed. If not Factions and maybe story DLC and some more trophies to chase?

Naughty Dog has always pushed the boundaries in everything they’ve done, and while that means more high flying action coming from the Uncharted series, it means more heart wrenching moments for the Last of Us. The one thing I can tell people going into this is that Naughty Dog is not trying to appease you, they are trying to tell a story. A very good one at that. Characters will do things you don’t agree with and things will happen that will make you sad. It will make you question “Good vs. Evil”. It will make you think. Which is exactly what a good story should do. There’s so much hate surrounding this beautiful title that I needed to submit my own review. It just confuses me how people can love Game of Thrones for its brutal treatment of its characters and then hate this.
Graphics: Continues to impress. I had to stop and look at the environment more times then I’d like to admit. A beautiful recreation of apocalypse Seattle should floor any graphics buff.
Voice Acting: stellar performances from Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey will send shivers down your spine.
Gameplay: while expanding on the first game by adding going prone and more methods of traversal, my one gripe with the game is that at some encounters it would feel clunky. Quite a few frustrating moments were had when Ellie wouldn’t climb over something or would get stuck.

Disgusting treatment of beloved characters - Imagine if the next Zelda game has Gannindorf kills Link in the worst way possible, spits on his corpse, and then forces you to control Gannondorf to hunt and kill Zelda.

If this childish effort at writing is the direction that Sony is heading for PS5, then I will be seriously considering dropping out of consoles altogether. For context I'm a 43 year old man with a decent income that spends a lot of money on games and really do not like seeing what is happening with gaming at the moment. The Last of Us Part II

The second game of the franchise The Last of Us Part II is a Masterpiece

    Why? Let me Explain

We see the Death of a Character we love, like he meant nothing and everyone complained about that, but do you all realize that is deeper than we thought?
Joel's Death show to us that he isn't a hero, not in Abby's eyes, and in Ellie's eyes he isn't a hero for sure either, he don't need a hero's death, because they wanted to Joel's death in the game, leave unfinished business for Ellie, she doesn't forgive him yet and saying all those stuff to him really get her, she feels guilty, she feels like the one person who loved her the most and did everything for her, is dead, and the only thing she thinks she is able to do, is go after revenge, and that way she is losing her human side, just like Abby, The Last of Us Part II show to us that Love can lift through it all, in the end, Ellie's love for Joel and realizing he isn't coming back and that she is alone, is a Heartbreaking scene and an amazing scene, the story was builded perfectly, The Last of Us Part II obviously wouldn't be like The Last of Us, for me it was bigger, and better, The Last of Us will always be in my heart, but The Last of Us Part II became my favorite game of all time until now

Unfortunately, many gamers were critical of the game's story, and this shows that they didn't understand the game because most games have an end that we like (completely stereotypical) and we don't expect to encounter such a story !! And that's too bad.
The game world is apocalyptic. Zombies are on the rise and humans are fighting each other, so anything can happen in this world. Playing instead of two people is a great idea so we don't just look at story from one side!!
Many friends give a score of 0 to game, which means they don't value the game they've been working on for so long, which I think is more of an emotional choice than a logical critique.
Finally, I hope we can understand the games and not just look at them as just a hobby.

    Absolutely great graphics
    Decent gameplay
    Good sound and immersion

    Cons:
Awful story, nothing in the story is in order
Joel gets killed and spit on by a female moments after he saved her life. You are then suppose to play 10 hours of her and learn her backstory (no thank you) and then go after and try to kill Ellie.
The story would have been somewhat ok if they just rearranged the whole story and have had a much more cronological order.

The Ellie flashbacks are really good and is on of the few things that make this game somewhat ok.

Playing as Debby quickly got boring and you had no incentive to try to find and kill Ellie, all meanwhile you are waiting for the story to continue where the cliffhanger left off.

Don't buy, I didn't I just watched playtroughs and I felt like my time was pretty wasted.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us 2 is a game with hardship, despair and loss. But also within the game is love, strong relationships and forgiveness. The story with Ellie and Dina was the main strong point of the beginning of the game. Joel on the other hand, you can see that the relationship has grown very low, because of Ellie finding out the truth of what Joel had done to her. Which is why I agree with Ellie, she had the chance to save humanity and she wanted to do that and was ready for that sacrifice. But Joel took a selfish move and saved her because he seen her as the only thing he had left in this dying world. Joel still seen her as a little girl and not an adult who wanted to do her own thing. Think of him as a loving yet very protective father. To which is why I also love the way Joel is presented in this game, you know that his story is over, and that Ellie, Dina, Abby and Lev now take over. But now we are gonna talk about Joel's death. Joel needed to die. Maybe not in the way it happened (he had it coming tbh) but it happened and we have to move on. He killed Abby's father for trying to save the world, her father didn't see any wrong and only thought in the recovery of humanity. Joel wronged alot of people, but he was also a good hearted person. Abby sought revenge the same as any other person would do in that situation. Especially in the world they live in. Now back to Ellie, she killed alot of people to just get to one person, even a pregnant women who didn't want to be a part of it. The question I kept asking myself was.. was it worth it? All this killing? Abby let Ellie and Tommy go, but again here is another loop. Tommy wanted revenge for the death of his brother, and so set for another killing spree to which I agree. But now I'm seeing in this story that these are two stories with the same outcome... death. Unresolved and unnecessary death on both parties. Which I think Ellie herself brought on to herself. Now onto my favourite character, Abby. Abby's character development was amazing. At the start I wanted her dead for what she did. But later finding out what happened, I understood why. She had a valid reason for wanting revenge. Now we come to the aid of Yara and Lev. Both amazing characters and totally deserve to be recognised in this game. We see Abby's human side here, she could have walked away after they saved her life. Abby went to hell and back for them and in the end, got a new friend. Lev. Lev has had a troubled story, and also deserves full respect for what he had been through. Yes, he is trans and done what he thought was right, and that was to be himself. His own mother tried to kill him because of it and with the other scars calling him 'Lilly' you can tell the other scars did not accept him for it and therefore got so much hate to the point which he and his sister escaped. Abby deserves so much respect for helping Yara and Lev, again she could have walked away but she didnt. She stood her ground for what was right. Now to the ending, both women fighting to the end. Ellie was gonna win but then turned away because of guilt. Ill leave it up to you to what you think of the ending but I think it ended right. Both women deserved what they got, they both suffered and therefore redeemed. Overall, this game was probably the best game I have ever played. The game-play, graphics, UI and UX are great and even the people that give it 0 says so, so won't it be worth more than 0?!
Most of the negative reviews seems to be focused on the story.
I read some of them and I have to say I agree with parts of what they say and it could have been done better. The story as a whole is a good story, It falls short at some part of bringing empathy

You do start to feel empathy for those characters later on but it would have been better and would have negate some of the negative reviews if they were to help the player achieve empathy towards those characters much more earlier.

I finished the game and over all enjoyed it, even the parts I felt bad about what the game forcing me to do.

I have mixed feelings about the story, but no one can deny that it is a MASTERPIECE and rightly deserves the must-play tag.
The experience is one I can recommend anyone without a second thought. Rated it 9 because of not being convinced of the narrative and pacing overall, and so can't justifiably rate it a 10 for now at least. Make no mistake though, the narrative is still one of the best

And the fact that this game manages to do engage the players in this way, is highly commendable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I heard that when the first game was about Love, this was themed around hate, so this was something that I thought about a lot during my playtime. It is hard to get someone to explore negative emotions and come out feeling good, and I feel that a lot of that this game was getting at was that death is painful to deal with, we don't all go out in meaningful ways.

I felt that there was a bit of a gameplay lull in the middle similar to Alien: Isolation where after you get powerful and reach a climactic point, everything resets to the new character which is a little unsatisfying.

Gameplay-wise, I felt that the rarer infected functioned a lot better and were more interesting than the first game and the newer variants were interesting. A big issue for me in the first one was simplistic, repeating puzzles. I feel that this game had some more interesting and original mechanics for puzzles which I appreciated. I wasn't as big a fan of the brute type human enemies or the chase scene, horse escape that felt a little too much like Uncharted for me.

I think the takeaway message is loss sucks but it's something we have to deal with in life, exploring the emotions and the way that hate destroys so much around us with no real catharsis is a bold move, and I did feel myself getting emotionally invested.

Overall I think that the game might have been too long to make it's a point well, but I advise people to see it through to the end. If you are at all on the fence, I suggest waiting for a price drop.

It is a story driven game and the story is mediocre and kinda off. The gameplay is kinda ok but nothing ground breaking. It can be fun, expecially with those absolutely insane accessibilty modes (i lmfao many times) but as a storydriven game it is kinda bad

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay is a little stale on anything but the higher difficulties - probably the poor AI. Scavenging does get a little annoying after a while but being able to jump and go prone finally do help round off what is a solid gameplay arc.

Really enjoyed the story, even being a big huge fan of the original. A couple of choices were confusing but overall I was happy with the way it all wrapped up.

I liked the switch in perspective, as it let you see just how the actions of Joel in the first game actually had an effect on the game world - even though the new characters can feel a little hollow at times. It would have been nice to see the other factions get fleshed out a little more towards the latter half of the game.

By no means perfect, but I really enjoyed, and the story was interesting to say the least. Really hoping that some DLC does come though, even though it doesn't look like there will be. Would be neat to see some other POV for characters or even just where the story started for characters like Lev and Yara.

I'm really sorry for developers who worked on the Last of Us 2 and now have to head all those bad reviews from people who can't understand a serious message, plot and deeper understanding of an actual great piece of art.
This game made me cry and left a nice hole in my hart, just like after the first one. it's great, I'm happy I've played it without reading all those reviews, watching all those *bad* youtube pre-release reviews and spoiler.

Some "professional" reviewers have been saying ignore user reviews, but that's not helpful, and seems they are looking to assert their own perceived importance as "official" mouthpieces rather than be open to discussion.

Explore all the options, including “accessibility”. Try increased movement / aim sensitivity, and set camera distance + field of view to max. I was regularly adjusting brightness to see clearly in the (many) dark spaces. The flashlight does not treat your eyes kindly, and for such a long game, this can be painful. I understand this is the world, but I wish developers would be a little more considerate of players’ health.

Do not play this on Normal or Easy. I wasn't going to play twice, so chose Survivor: You can not "run and gun” – it will play more stealthily, with limited resources / ammo. It was not too challenging, although a few of the bosses did have me dying a few times. When I succeeded it was rewarding. Enemy AI is poor, especially later in the game. I often just made noise or killed one, hid, and drew them all towards me.

Those whining about political correctness / sexuality need to get over themselves. Some comments aimed at the other new main character are totally unacceptable. I enjoyed seeing the story from different perspectives, although it could have been streamlined without sacrificing the narrative. Some of the new characters were quite flat, and others interesting. One explicit scene on a boat I think could have been cut and was overly in your face; a subtle approach could have achieved the same effect. There are some sweet moments, although few and far between. The game is extremely violent, but I was actually expecting it to be worse. At the end I wasn't left feeling cheated but wish the gameplay had been pushed further.

You can break glass, climb ropes, swim, and lie flat, but it does not challenge any established systems. Why not let Ellie or the other character befriend a dog + direct its actions? More NPCs in the world who you can interact with? Mini games other than the guitar playing, like carving wood statues, drawing, fishing, playing darts? Yes, it's the story of you surviving in a world that has fallen apart, but there is definitely more scope for inventiveness. Levels look great but layout is simplistic.

Enemies are not very interesting. The infected could have taken more shapes / sizes. The only one I found frightening were the "stalkers" who hide and creep up on you. Bloaters and Shamblers look nearly the same, and a boss near the end of the game is just another larger version of other enemies. Human enemies are similarly passable. The much talked about name calling lent a more comic aspect than any sort of empathy for them or their dogs (who also don't feature often).

Visually the game is impressive, and art direction is generally excellent. There is some variation in environments (snow, beach, forest, city), although I would have liked to see more of this + a shorter game so you can better appreciate the time spent in each location. Characters and animals look very good, and detail on clothes and accessories is excellent. Concept art is interesting, as it shows how final characters differ from their original designs. I did encounter some glitches, but not too many.

The game is an "on rails" experience; you are guided through it exactly as the developers intended, with very little room for your own input. Your only real choices are whether to play on easier difficulties and gun everything down, or play on tougher difficulties and play stealthily. If you are not a closed-minded bigot, then there is something here to enjoy. The gameplay can feel lacking and linear, opportunities were missed to make it more fresh and varied, the story does drag on, and some non-playable characters are flat, but overall I am pleased I "experienced" this. I'm not sure if I played it or it played me, but it's an interesting experiment in the medium, and a fine way to end this generation of consoles.

Lots has been made of the ending, with many people offering simplistic views. In the final scene, look at the expression on the character's face. There is a moment of realisation. It was not "all for nothing". It's not good defeats evil, but the characters end up at peace with themselves, after suffering so much, and what could be more of a victory than that?

Extras = disappointing. Just concept art + character models. Not good enough. The models are nice, but the art isn’t exciting. Should be included: Ellie’s journals, viewable directly from the main menu after you complete the game. Behind the scenes / “making of” videos. And have the guitar playing parts unlockable too, with the ability to select the location in the game where Ellie finds them to practice in. Wouldn’t be difficult to do that and would be cool to have it accessible from the main menu.

В плане геймплея это тот же the last of us только с нововедениями.

I feel like many people misunderstood this game. Okay okay, hear me out. Joel's death was not unrespected and the story is not trash.

Tlou has always been in the more realistic side on the spectrum in dealing with human emotions and desicion making. Also, here, any bad thing can happen to anyone anytime. Soo, my take is that Joel's death was not bad writing, but simply just depressing. His death drives the story forward and also reminds us about the kind of world we're living in where it's not just sunshine and rainbows.

Is it unfair and ruthless? Yes, very. But that's real life man, you gotta wake up. Anddd that's my personal take on the game, I just rlly don't like people hating on things they don't completely understand

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
