I'm truly disappointed with this game. The pandering was just too much. I don't mind progressive games as long as they don't think the story for an agenda's sake, which is exactly what happened here. I loved TLoU 1 because of the story (the game mechanics were meh at most) and for this second part, they completely ruined the story.

Had mixed feelings about this game it was very controversial I think it turned at better than I thought there were some parts that could have been better like the Abby part like how you waste time trying to save Yara but she dies and how the the story between her and Ellie are not really connected apart from her friends. But the end really got me because I think the theme of this game showed revenge and forgiveness. This game showed that vengeance is not good Abby took that road and she lost all her friends. Ellie also took that road and lost a life with Dina but saw that it would just lead to more suffering. How Ellie was able to forgive Abby for what she did and when she wanted to try to forgive Joel. Joel's death was not dumb it's what we all saw coming anyway it what motivates Ellie to get her revenge therefore making this game. Gameplay is great especially on the hardest difficulty. Great game but is not as bad as people say. Expand

The Last of Us 2 is an improvement from its predecessor in gameplay, narrative and story. It expands on the original world set in the first game by introducing factions and characters that are fascinating to learn about. Naughty Dog have done an excellent job in making the player want to learn more about the world itself and the characters within.

The story is expertly written and in many ways quite daring. It breaks away from traditional storytelling seen in most games and gets you emotionally involved in many of the new characters Last of Us 2 has to offer. Many of these characters are written in such a way that you might and probably will dislike them at first, but over time you will feel emotionally invested in a lot of the characters within Last of Us 2.

As for the gameplay Naughty Dogs have improved upon the first title by adding important features such as being able to get your human enemies to fight the infected, or better yet the infected to fight your human enemies. The combat can also be frantic and you might find yourself hiding under tall grass to escape enemies only to re-emerge and throw a Molotov at a group that was chasing you only moments before.

You may have seen some controversy surrounding the game. Ignore a lot of the low user reviews for The Last of Us 2. A lot of the complaints are about the story from people who have not touched the game itself and instead have read a bullet point list of the story without any of its complexities.

As always stick with game reviewers you trust to form an opinion before buying. I personally recommend Easy Allies review on the game.

Naughty Dogs have kicked it out of the park with another finely crafted game. It's a shame that a large amount of the negative reviews are from "critics" who have never even bothered to pick up the controller.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The most I can give this game is a 4/10. The gameplay and graphics are phenomenal, possibly one of the best of all time (in my opinion), but the story in this game is very lacking and is what makes this game so unfavorable. A story game such as Telltales: The Walking Dead without a good story is like playing an FPS game without the actual "shooter" aspect. In my opinion, it would have been better if there just wasn't a part 2 at all. The main reason people love The Last Of Us so much is because of the relationship between Joel and Ellie. When everyone saw the trailers to The Last Of Us 2 we expected to be going on another journey with Joel and Ellie. Instead the game was ruined by killing Joel in the worst way possible by some new character named Abby and expected us to feel sympathy for her. Not to mention the game wants us to play as Abby for more than half of the game.
There are other problems with the game such as false marketing lies such as replacing Joel's character model in-game with Jesse's character model to trick us to think we would be playing with Joel in-game. There is also a problem such as the altering of Joel's character. Joel has 20 years of survival experience and that's what kept him alive. Then suddenly he just walks into a locked room with 10+ armed people he doesn't know and gets beat to death. Conclusion, the game to me was a disappointment and waiting 7 years for this was not worth it.

(now hopefully I'm not going to get dislike botted by people working for naughty dog or game journos.)

Definitely an unforgettable experience. The storytelling was very smart and brave and the game overall was brilliantly crafted. You can’t become angry at the plot because It didn’t give you the ending you wanted, instead you should try to keep an open-mind and experience what is given to you. This perspective will make you much more satisfied and happy both in the game and in real life.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLDR This game is a mixed bag. The game has clearly made some serious gameplay improvements. The visuals are stunning and run smooth on my PS4 Slim. The biggest disappointment is the story. If you intend to play this game with the hopes of getting a story with the caliber and emotional moments as the first game you will be disappointed. The game is far too long and is full of itself and the gameplay can't make up for that.

First off I would like to start with the good. As many others have said the game is visually stunning. The game runs smooth on my PS4 Slim and have yet to experience any frame drops. Voice acting is good as is expected the script may not be great but it is acted well. The gameplay is not a massive improvement over the first game but is a much more polished version of that combat system. With the addition of more useful skills to learn and upgrades the gameplay overall feels better. Enemy AI is a mixed bag. Sometimes they flank you and can give you tough time. Other times they are as dumb as can be. The first introduction to Seattle has a sort of open world feel. Where you have a few locations to explore with the goal of finding gasoline. It is a nice concept that the game oddly chooses to never make use of again. Some of the new characters are genuinely likeable although that is certainly a subjective opinion and your opinion may vary.

The worst part about this game is the story and writing. Many will be upset by the early death of Joel as it feels unearned and is intentionally brutal. It is sad to say but this situation seems to occur so early for the sake of the shock factor of it. I generally do not have a problem with this so long as the game justifies itself and the brutality it put us and Ellie through. The game sadly fails to do so and turns into a generic poorly executed story on the violent cycle of revenge.

In the first Last of Us there is a constant theme of hope in an otherwise bleak world. Ellie is the heart of that game and her interactions with Joel are what I believe makes it resonate with its audience. Gone is this theme of hope for a better future. Ellie is understanbly overcome with rage over the death of Joel and consumed by it. But in her trek for revenge she nearly loses herself. By the end of the game Ellie is broken and has given up nearly everything that made her happy for vengeance. A vengeance she ultimately cannot see through. Ellie and the player are psychologically tortured in this game and in a way it seems to me that Naughty Dog intended to paint her as a villain of the story and perhaps the villain of the story. This falls flat due to the motivations and actions of the new character Abby. Abby kills Joel in cold blood and in return has Ellie, Tommy, Jesse and Dina hunting herself and her friends. Although ultimately Ellie does most of the killing. It is with Abby that the utterly fails. The game takes a twist toward the later stages where you are forced into the shoes of Abby. We see that her father was the Firefly doctor who was going to make a cure using Ellie at the end of the first game. Although this justification feels cheap. Marlene is shown to be conflicted about killing Ellie to make the cure and Abby's father is not. Leading up to one of the dumbest lines in this entire game. As her father is contemplating killing Ellie to create the cure Abby says to him "If it was me I'd want you to do the surgery." This presents a problem as now it seems pretty clear that the firefly's didn't care whether or not Ellie wanted to be martyred for their hope a cure. This cast further doubts onto the already dubious act that Abby commits. If the game did not attempt to make us and in turn Ellie feel bad about these actions it would be irrelevant to a degree. But the game seems to actively take the stance that Joel was definitely wrong and fails to give us any reason to agree with that point. Ellie is emotionally destroyed by the acts of evil she commits. Abby revels in the pain she inflicts and seems to enjoy it. It is because of this lack of empathy from Abby that I could not as hard as I tried enjoy playing as her. I thought somewhere along my travels as Abby I would begin to sympathize with her. But as time progress you realize how shallow and despicable a character she truly is. Abby never takes responsibility for the river of blade she leaves in the wake of her selfish revenge quest. The game at this point would sit a 7/10 for me. But the final act in Santa Barbara is a great example of a game overstaying its welcome. Ellie gives up an idyllic life for one last shot of revenge. The product of this being that Ellie's relationship with Dina may never be the same and she can no longer play guitar. A hobby that is one of the last things Ellie had shared with Joel. This game is remarkably cruel to characters we have come to love. If you loved the first games characters and story do not play this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Seriously don't play this game if you have any mental health issues as it will most likely trigger you. Soo reading and watching a lot of reviews, and also playing the game to the end my thoughts and feelings for this game is definitely mixed especially playing abi after she kills two characters. I loved the gameplay and graphics. Loved the cutscenes and more so loved the emotion behind ellies character. But as soon as you play abi, oh damn I hated it and I just wanted to stop playing but I forced myself despite hating and "accidentally" killing myself as her a few times lol. I got to the point where there was a flashback for Abi with her father ad the one where she rushed in to the room where Joel kills her father I immediately took an understanding as to why she killed Joel. But here's the thing I felt forced emotionally to feel sympathy for her and why she did the things she did. So I kept playing having a sense of enjoyment but still a load of hate for this one character. The whole story is about revenge obviously. But starting to actually look at it as revenge story for both Ellie and abi. Overall there is three key parts in the game that I really had a distaste for. One was Ellie killing the dog (fair enough I killed a lot of dogs in this game, sorta reminds me of old tomb raider ps1/2 days) but the one dog the games legit gets you a emotional connection with. Then second is when you beat Ellie almost to death and then almost kill dina. Ohhh why did it force me to go through this trauma. I just really agonised over this for a few hours. Then thirdly the farm seen with jj and dina and Ellie living happily ever after or not for Ellie ptsd destroyed Ellie and it throws you into an emotional whirlwind and makes you think crap this feels like an ending that I really don't want to see. But thankfully the story goes on for another 1/2hour but it felt rushed like seriously rushed. I had the same feeling with ff15 ending. I get why she left abi alive but I also felt empty at this point. And felt so much mental and emotional damage at this point for both characters I didn't even wanna fight. Now I actually love the game but I have so much mixed and **** up feelings for it. And putting myself into both ellies and abis shoes I understood why they both did or didn't do the things they did. This game gives me a whole feeling of walking dead vibe when neegan is first introduced, you hate the mother **** for killing peeps but then at certain points the show tries to make you love him (tbf I really do love neegan) but that's the feeling I get that naughty dog tried to do with the whole abi revenge plot but it sorta fails in a way because it makes you feel forced to show sympathy. I can't give it a low score or a high score but I really do love this game to an extent that sorta brushes off abi killing Joel but it makes it hard when she almost kills Ellie and dina. I really wouldn't recommend this game if you suffer from mental health issues because it would trigger you to high hell but I also recommend it to peeps because it's actually a good game just a few parts that damages you Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The 7 year wait was to see the development of Joel and Ellie's relationship, their continued journey, the battle against the infection and the revelation behind Ellie's discovery of Joel's actions surrounding the fireflies, was half the reason I expressed interest in this game. The other half was due to the TRAILER, depicting the interactions of Ellie and Joel throughout Part 2, of which, was later found to be MISLEADING, UNTRISTWORTHY and a blatant MARKETING SCHEME to feed off the following of Part 1.

There are redeeming qualities to this game, lovers of the original gameplay mechanics will find them more refined and responsive, the graphics are astounding (as to be expected with any AAA game in this day and age) and the suspense/ shock factor is real with every encounter, be they human or infected.

But, the attention to the story felt lackluster, like the Devs had a checklist of current worldwide issues they HAD to cover. They focused on promoting LGBTQ (in keeping with Ellie from TLOU1) but also proceeded to vomit other cultural references such as:
Identity struggles (Lev, who despite a pressing global infection, managed to weasel in a gender identity issue - talk about priorities),
and also, Trans inferences (whereby Abby with her lack of emotion, boasts a steroid physique akin to an absolute Chad. Given there is 0 censorship on her scene with Owen where they quite literally "Bump Uglies" it can only be assumed Sony views her as a he, contradictory to Druckman, who again - must have been ticking a box)
It felt like the game was being catered to every audience, BUT the Fans. That way, when diehard Fans rallied with disappointment, other game critiques and reviewers would sing praise, simply because the game "attempted" to tackle real world issues within a modern context, and then actively look to silence "The Rest of Us".

The second part was a Trainwreck (and the Devs knew it, since they informed early access players/ reviewers NOT to mention the second half of the game) What the first game did so well was establish motive for Joel, witnessing the loss of his daughter at the start of the game and coming full circle at the end when he chooses Ellie, his surrogate daughter, over the fate of the world (of which was responsible for taking child) we understood him, his grief and the decision he made and we were content with the climax of the game. TLOU2 attempts to achieve this relatability with a secondary character (Abby) in about 10 hours, since she has an NPC dad who loves animals, who loves his daughter, and was a firefly who died at the hands of a man unwilling to sacrifice a child, we're meant to feel connected to her? And if none of those factors made her as "relatable" as Joel, they also give her a sidekick, Lev, of which, during the course of the game I found myself verbally exclaim "why the **** am I looking for this kid that I couldn't care less about?" The entire time playing her I was waiting to swap back to Ellie so I could wipe the smug look off her face, and that final battle, the suspenseful Death Stranding-esc showdown!? That was the ultimate blueballs in the end. Had the ending been a character based decision, (press X to) "Drown the **** or (press ∆ to) "let her sail away happily ever after" I'd have left her on the ocean floor every time.

I've seen the game regarded the Gaming equivalent of GoT Season 8, and the more you look into it, the more the parallels can be drawn:
Started off great (Part 1 was amazing, then went "down the pan")
Character threads lacking fulfillment (Joel and Ellie's relationship explored only in "Flashbacks")
Character development abandoned (Joel's scepticism of the world and people is abandoned just so Abby can take him for a round of Golf)
Downright disappointing ending (Abby ****s off to Neverland while Ellie returns to nothing)
Seemingly incompetent writers (who butchered everything they achieved in Part 1 simply to achieve some semblance of a "SHOCK" factor)

There is a petition on Change.org regarding the game, may this petition get traction and the game be changed for the better. Although, any press is good press right? so our anger as cheated consumers (MISLEADING TRAILER), will more than likely be ignored in favour of promoting how the game "Subverts Expectations" (if that's what they call **** all over your fans these days)

I hope Cyberpunk2077 destroys this game, of which gameplay reviews sound promising

And may there never be a Part 3

    Amen

It is absolutely breathtaking and is a great addition to the cannon of this universe. It just barely misses the mark of the first game, but it is fantastic nonetheless. The only thing I dislike about this game is its pacing around Ellie's Day 1 and Abby's Days 1-3. However, the fantastic story all but makes up for it. Most cut scenes are great. *All* of Joel's stuff is astounding. Along with this, the opening and closing few scenes of the game took my breath away. Not to mention the impeccable graphics, gameplay, acting, etc. A lot of people don't like many of the new characters, but I liked most of them, except for Owen a little.

TL;DR: A masterpiece that barely misses out on a ten because of the pacing.

I really enjoyed the first part of the game where you played as Ellie, at first I didn't buy this game at launch because I read what everyone had said and I decided to make my own opinion about it firsthand. Anyway, I really did enjoy the first half of this game playing as Ellie, but being forced to play as this despicable pos Abbie made me grimace throughout the entire experience. You can see everytime the developers have tried to turn Ellie into the villain and expect you to sympathise with this new character that killed Joel. I would rate a 0 but that would be unfair to the technical aspect of the game and the visuals. None the less a 1 is still generous for the story. Expand

This game is an absolute **** They stripped Joel of having any personality and killed him off in a way that made no sense that seems to just be for shock value. The only thing this game has going for it is it’s graphics. I’ve heard this game is a “movie” and if it is a “movie” this is the most **** movie I’ve ever seen. They force you to play as Abby for 10-15 hours who literally murdered Joel. This game has done more damage to the LGBTQ+ community than it should have. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I submit this review I wanna make it clear that my displeasure with this game has nothing to do with having a female lead, or any sorta lgbt representation. (So don’t pull the bigot card). Joel’s death was handled piss poorly, I wouldn’t have had a problem with Joel being killed if it was done differently, it’s amazing to think that in the 1st game Joel has evaded many of the infected, impaled on a metal rod, has always been discreet and untrusting of others, only to trust a group of randoms with loaded guns in a locked room, and gets golfed to death in the sequel. Abby was not a well executed character IMO, I felt like Abby should’ve never been included in TLOU2. I wanted this game to be more focused on the already established relationship between Joel and Ellie and add more to it. It’s hard to have any care for Abby when she brutally kills Joel, kills Jesse, shoots Tommy in the face, and beats on Ellie and Dina. And while we’re forced to play as this spec ops gorilla brutalizing our favorite characters (Specifically Joel & Ellie), ND somehow expects us to feel some kinda connection for her? Overall I’m very disappointed with this game, the ending was extremely lackluster and nothing was accomplished. This game is basically the equivalent of being held at gun point and forced to throw a basket of puppy’s off a **** cliff and then tell you 6 hours later how wrong you were for that act. Expand

The game was good in its initial concept, but thanks to the power of the tickets it has generated a forced return, the game has repetitive mechanics, an uninteresting story, highlighting the death of beloved characters and forcing a meaningless plot, with narrative inconsistencies, in short, a bad game whose main reason for launching was to drive next-generation sales.

They make you play as the **** who killed the main character of the first game within the first 2hrs of the game then a couple more hours in Abby aka **** comes to Ellie and she kills yet another male character also one of Ellie’s friends and this character is actually one of the new characters from this game that is a good and likable character so tell me why after she kills him they go on to never mention his death and it’s like his existence didn’t even matter. After that you get left on a cliffhanger then you they make you play 10+ hours with her to make you feel for her but why would we feel anything for her if she killed the person we played this game for so quickly and disrespectful not to mention while your playing all I could think about was what’s going happen to Ellie and Tommy because we don’t care about Abby and we certainly don’t like her but it just gets even worse at the end because suddenly Ellie randomly thinks that revenge is bad and let’s the **** that killed Joel live only for Ellie to come back to Joel’s home but Tommy and Dina left then she walks of into the distance alone, broken, a completely dIfferent person, unlikable, and she did all that just to resolve nothing. and the last word of dialogue is **** yep!!! There's also a lot of bugs in this game that are absolutely disgusting and the last of us 2 hates males. The majority of deaths in this game are male characters and all their deaths mean absolutely nothing to the other characters except for Joel’s death and a lot of the characters are extremely undeveloped and mistreated. I pray they don’t ruin the franchise any further by making a last of us part 3 because part 1 didn’t need a part 2. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I suppose I should start this by saying that the first game is one of my favorite video games of all time, so you can know the context, and that I have finished the game.

First, what I did like about the game:
    1. The graphics
    2. The locations
    3. Ellie and Dina's relationship!!
    4. Most of Ellie's gameplay
    4. The gameplay was ok but the companion AI is still messed up. I liked how they upped the handling difficulty of the weapons 5. The usage of stalkers is much more advanced than the first game and they're a big part of the gameplay now, which I loved
    6. The shamblers are amazing!
    7. Ellie's flashbacks

And now to what I didn't like:
    1. The overall story. Personally, I think the story is in the category of exploitation films. Meaning, it uses shock value, brutality, and extreme emotions as a way to hook people, often placing too much emphasis on those aspects. When done well it can make a good story, but unfortunately here I don't think it was done well. They killed Joel so early and in such a brutal way that it's simply not palatable to me. To do this with a beloved character after making him act far more trusting than his previous characterization simply feels shoehorned and sloppy.
    2. The ending. I understand that the moral is supposed to be that revenge doesn't pay off, but again, to give such an absolutely bleak ending to a beloved character was a risk that to me didn't pay off when paired with the rest of the tragedy in the game. Again, the usage of extreme emotional "torture" to elicit a response from the gamer. They could have given us a sad ending without making Ellie live out her biggest fear, or killing off Jesse for no reason, or giving us hope for Ellie's happiness then ripping it away. Sure, perhaps, it's realistic to their world, but in the first game Joel sustained a gut wound after being impaled by rebar, and he survived. The first game wasn't about realism and it just feels like they tried to go too hard to "make up for it" here. The least they could've done is had Ellie and Tommy reconnect to show that even if you make the mistake of giving in too much to revenge, there can be hope for rebuilding.
    3. Forcing us to kill dogs as Ellie. This feels like a sneaky move to try to get us to dislike Ellie more. Not to mention animal death is a big no for me and the fact that we're made to do it over and over is not fun to say the least.
    4. Lev's story. This here is pretty much what set in stone the fact that they were just making an exploitation film. There was no need to make Lev suffer the loss of not only his family, but also his culture, and in such an utterly violent way nonetheless. It's misery for the sake of misery, and it doesn't sit right with me as a remember of the LGBT+ community that they went so hard with Lev's suffering.
    5. Being made to play as Abby. I actually did enjoy a fair portion of Abby's part since hers has more zombies. But it just felt forced when they tried to make us feel bad for her. After all, she was the first one to take pleasure in revenge, and if not for her Ellie wouldn't have been pushed over the edge. I feel like playing as her could've been done much better if we just weren't forced to play as her for half of the game. It was quite disruptive after getting excited about maxing out multiple weapons and skills with Ellie, not to mention that Ellie was the reason I was playing the game in the first place.

I could say more but I think that sums most of it. I think it made sense for Joel to die, but they definitely didn't go the right direction with how they did it, especially with how they made Joel so trusting. They just went way too hard on the misery and gave the players too many cruel stabs with what they did to most of the characters, amd although I would normally say that the story isn't all that important, with the last of us it really is one of the main attractions.

But reality is too harsh to understand Naughty Dog's philosophy. Naughty Dog destroyed and ruined all characteristics of the first game characters(Joel, Ellie, Tommy). And they were used to explain that Abby is a good woman. I don't want to know about Abby's past. I just watched Abby's behavior and wanted to kill her in all the game playing.

I'm no critic but here is how I feel...
I really enjoyed the gameplay, throw a bottle here, go around there, stealth, or guns blazing the same as the first with tweaks to the model's movement and reaction to surroundings to make it feel more natural/realistic. Bravo to the team at Naughty Dog for accomplishing this. The Visuals are stunning the landscape, the water, the different seasons, and how it changes the whole mood as the story progresses. Everything came together very well and really opened my eyes.

    Story 2/10
Yes I played The Last of Us Part 1 and I will try to make this as unbias as I can (which is difficult.) I will not say the story in this game is helpless because it has a very interesting take on revenge and the consequences of your actions in an almost domino effect. But, the order in which events take place just forces the player to be put in the dark state for most of the game. Like Troy Baker said "This game rests on a pendulum, and in order to reach heights that it does, it must go to the depths. In order to achieve that level of beauty, we must have that level of despair." (interview with Collider Games) With that in mind, Joel the character we get to know and love is murdered within the first 2 hours of the game and you only get to play him for about 30 minutes. So boom despair and that continues on until the flashbacks which I would rate 10/10 absolute tear-jerking moments that make you smile and add on so much to the relationship development between Joel and Ellie. After those what are we left with? Hate. You play as Ellie going out to get your revenge and almost satisfied because we are angry. Then you have to play as this woman you have grown to hate for like 10 hours only to play as her for 10 hours. I found this part unenjoyable and very unpleasant, not to mention the sex scenes and other unneeded fillers.

    My Conclusion
If you skip what is above at least read this please, Naughty Dog it's truly sad to this happen there was no need to do this after 7 years so eager getting chills hearing Gustavo Santaolalla's guitar only to come to a game that is so focused on a character and useless messages that have nothing to do with what the real game is about and that's Joel and Ellie and if you didn't see that in the first game you are obviously blinded from repeatedly feeding the community **** sequels and calling it art. :/

Last of Us 1 is my favourite game of all time. I completed and enjoyed LOU2. It certainly wasn’t the story I’d have wanted for the protagonists, but I appreciate the courage in what was delivered, it was definitely not the safe choice for a part 2, it was edgy, and thought provoking. The gameplay, audio, and visuals were everything I hoped for.

The first game was mostly "us" (Joel, Ellie, and the player) against "them" (pretty much anyone who stood in our way). In the second game, we are compelled to consider the experience of someone who represents the worst sort of "them" - i.e. a nemesis of us. Switching that perspective is a **** it causes all sorts of uncomfortable cognitive dissonance. Attempting to understand, empathise with, bond with, even become the other side is difficult, and the difficulty of that challenge was the genius of LOU2 I think. We bonded with Ellie and Joel in Part 1, as they bonded with each other: we shared the same journey, so that by the end, regardless of where you would objectively sit on the "kill one to save the many" question, most of us could understand Joel's actions: they were what a father would do for his de facto daughter.

How can we switch perspectives when we are so attached to our beloved protagonists from Part 1? Letting go of that bias and almost familial bond is hard, it feels unnatural and disloyal, yet I found it insightful to try.

The Last of Us 2 was darker in so many ways: not just sinking to greater depths of brutality, but the glimmer of hope was immeasurably dimmer. Brutality breeds retaliation, and I appreciated watching that mirrored on both a micro (personal) and macro (faction) scale. I found the challenge of forging empathy for "them" real hard, and it made me so aware of how strong bias can be, how strong bonds for loved ones can be. I wanted Ellie to make better choices, but filled with survivor guilt, having only just begun her journey of trying to forgive Joel, only to have him brutally tortured to death in front of her... I can see why vengeance was easier than other ways of moving forwards.

Tl;dr LOU2 for me was a challenge of empathy and perspective, giving me the opportunity to appreciate that the "us" story that so many games present comes hand-in-hand with the largely untold or superficially told story of "them", which that we seldom consider. That good and bad are often strongly influenced by perspective, it's easy to condone the bad actions of us, and easier on our conscience if we don't consider them too closely. For me that's something to consider not only in games and in many other aspects of life.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's talk about this... I am impressed at the graphics, I am annoyed by the bugs, I feel despondent by your intentions. I truly support a female only lead, but you have to understand that this was just retarded. I refused to continue playing after Joel was murdered, I understand the hatred some characters had towards him, but seriously... Most of the people playing this game are adults and then you also find yourself asking, why??? through 60 percent of the game. I feel like critics have been paid to promote, honestly they say the same nonsense. This game is not artistic, it is traumatizing. You put us in a position where Joel made the sacrifice to keep his adopted child, then you hype us with lies, then you kill him early in the game. I mean do you need someone to write a better story?? Why not continue the game where Ellie is a child, then allow her to age with time and then at the end kill off Joel. You would have prepared us for something greater, instead you turned it into some silly trope of how twisted your mind can be. What happened to the cure? How does Abby know it was Joel who killed her father? It could have been any random dude or girl. Instead you point out cliche obvious mishaps to make us question tooooo many whyyyy'ssssss. First of all, what you are trying to prove is ridiculous. You take one notion, have your mind probably brainwashed in bed by another woman and then went full on women lead. Once again I support it, but this is a story, this is not your twisted mind we enjoy living in. Anyone can use a bluemovie script and turn it into an action tale. Do you get me? It is redundant. Let's talk about Abby and Ellie's relationship. The ending really gave me vibes of God Of War 2018, "The cycle ends here?" and yet you changed the ending... You should have played that game tooo many times or wished to be as successful in storytelling. This is where you made Abby and her sidekick to be like Kratos and his son. Slow clap. Muscular chick = Kratos. I truly saw what you did there. The personality and everything is a clear sign of Kratos ripoff. Now let's talk about Ellie. SHE WAS my favorite person. now she is just a sad tart who fails at accomplishing anything. You ruined a girl, turned her into a man, humiliated her by losing two fingers. I swear, I have never seen this chemistry before. Being one of the most anticipated games, to the most disappointing. it was at a 6/10, but the more I think about how you secretly sneak in politics and sexist tropes, AS well as steal from different stories. It goes to a Zero out of ten very easy. I swear 2020 is the year of disappointments. You truly made no justice to characters who did not deserve this fate. So let me point out how you could have made this better.
    1. Ellie should be a child and grow until where Joel dies.
    2. Abby SHOULD be introduced where it is revealed that her father was killed by Joel or where she loses her mother to the mushroom nonsense, all while Joel is explaining to his brother what he did.
    3. Ellie and joel should lose their bond as time passed, due to trust issues, turning her into a rebel and whatnot.
    4. Joel should be forgiven and allow that relationship we saw at the first game to rekindle.
    5. Abby should be brought back for players to see all the pain she is going through and in the end of that chapter find out that is was Joel all along.
    6. Ellie explores her relationship with her love interest, moving away from Joel.
    7. That dance scene where Ellie kisses her girlfriend and then get the start of this crappy TLOU 2 to happen.
    8. Abby finds people to hunt Joel with her. (THIS IMMEDIATELY WILL PUT PLAYERS ON THAT HOPE TO PROTECT JOEL)
    9. Play as Ellie, not ABBY during the scene where they realized they were ambushed, you know the one where Joel dies.
    10. End the game where Ellie is left heartbroken and Abby escapes.
You see... it's to f-ing easy. But no, you guys are special right? I need to encase my TLOU and the sequel to teach younger generations how not to ruin people.
Once again, hands down the best graphics, sometimes mediocre gameplay and pathetic story already telling us that Ellies time is done. Now is the time for a female god of war rip-off to enter. What happened to you guys? Seriously is that what we will have to expect in the future? This is not artistic, it is a disappointment. People who play this game without understanding the previous game has the right to like it. People who loved the first game and who would have done the same as Joel, DEFINITELY, hates this. No one has the same answer, although I wish for you to know my answer has been spoken. I have never complained over a video game, NEVER. I would always find a silver lining, but this needs to f-ing stop. I am getting tired of these nonsense. Why not just make a simple rpg where we can create our own character? Or perhaps choose our enemies or whatever. Don't rub your pathetic ideology into our faces. It's a game, not personal agendas. Moron.

Pandering to the vocal minorities has been the downfall of many top games. It is sad when virtue signalling takes priority over what the majority of people actually want. **** is a fool. This has to be the worst sequel ever in gaming history.

This game is very very Brutal! (minor spoilers)

Gameplay 7/10: The Gameplay ist basically the same as in the first game, with a lot less dumpsters and ladders to be moved, Ammunition is nice and rare and stealth is still very satisfying. Gameplay 7/10: The Gameplay ist basically the same as in the first game, with a lot less dumpsters and ladders to be moved, Ammunition is nice and rare and stealth is still very satisfying.

AI 3/10: For a triple-A game to have this bad and predictable of an AI especially while Patroling in a 1m wide lane or while looking directly at your companion is staggering, most of the time you don't notice the poor ai when you are just fighting but if you pay just a little attention it is weird even changing the difficulty settings didn't improve the AI.

Visuals 9/10: the Game looks gorgeous. The animation of the face to convey emotions is very spot on so you can actually read the characters without them having to explain their emotions. the takedowns and especially the cutscenes are incredibly gruesome and most certainly over the top.

Story ?/10: .... The first part of the Game Is nice to play and is a good introduction into the Game after the character goes to Seattle the game picks up Steam while you play as Ellie the story is very nice especially in the flashbacks. The way you slaughter your way through the enemies. You fully understand the decisions of Ellie and have to watch her mentally unravel killing everyone in her way. about a 7.5/10 up to here Close to the final encounter the game leaves you on an insane cliffhanger and forces you to play a different character Abby, the same character that drove you on this entire revenge quest, and honestly this part of the game is by far the worst. in the entire 13h playtime of Abby, it never felt like it really belonged into the main game, it felt like an afterthought put in to make the player miserable every chance the game gets, you play the same events leading up to the cliffhanger just from the enemies Point of view, the only redeeming part of this "Sidequest" was the Subquest around Lev&Yara, every other character isn't even written likable so there is a 10-15h Part of the game that doesn't serve any purpose with maybe the exception of reminding and taunting the player with what happened in the game up to that point, in Ellie's part the Flashbacks were a nice break from the Killing but in Abby's part they just seem to be put in to pad the runtime. At the end of this part, you are forced to play as Abby and fight Ellie, neither die from this encounter. This part is maybe a 2/10. Next character switch, you play as Ellie again, who settled down with her Girlfriend Dina and Dina's child JJ, everything seems like the game ending 30 minutes of gameplay with Ellie successfully breaking the Circle of hate and revenge. Thou it is clear that Ellie suffers from her action and what she witnessed. One day Tommy (Joel's brother) visits and asks why she has stopped hunting Abby after that Ellie decides to end the circle differently by just killing Abby. You play as Abby again in Santa Barbara looking for clues to the Fireflies after you find what you were looking for you are ambushed and now you play as Ellie and hunt her down. there will be a confrontation between Abby and Ellie in the end no one dies but Ellie loses some fingers. The end is maybe a 4/10

Sound & Music 7/10: Sound in this game is very scary and disturbing in places your hands will get sweaty when you hear the clicking of clickers or the whistling of the scars. The music, on the other hand, is nice but not quite as memorable as in the first game

Difficulty 9/10: the simple fact that you can basically change anything in the game, for example, make ammo more abundant or scarcer. you can change how fast ai will detect you and so on. this game has the right difficulty setting for any player if its the first time they have played a third-person shooter or this is their millions time.

Overall 4/10: Sadly this Game with the insane down your throat Story was at parts an 8/10 but sadly it guilt trips you for 10h+. I would still recommend you play the game or at least take a look on stream or youtube. Deep down this ist a fantastic game just the story and the "Sidequest" destroy the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came into the game with an open mind. I did not expect to see a masterpiece based on the leaks (which I avoided in order to get a better feeling of the game), but I was still left disappointed. As a long fan of the series, I felt betrayed by the Naughty Dog team as they served a fan base a nothing sandwich. Joel being killed almost immediately into the game was not a good way to start. Joel’s actions before getting killed were even worse. Joel and Ellie were a dynamic duo who held a special place in almost every player’s heart. Joel killed for Ellie and Ellie would of done the same, but poor writing left Ellie emotionally defeated by not killing Lev and Abby at the end of the game. Ellie was left permanently injured, the same goes for Tommy. Jesse was killed in an anti-climatic way. Ellie to leave on her journey, risking her relationship with Dina and J.J, and not kill Abby and Lev was horrible writing. This game could of done better by sparing Joel, Jesse, Tommy, and Ellie. The pro-diversity cast, if executed properly, could not affect a game’a ratings. The forced diversity was obviously present throughout the game. It’s safe to say that most of the players did not like it one bit. As a progressive, it’s nice to see some representation in video games. Some. The writers should have done some more research and come to the conclusion that most of the game’s target audience do not share the same sentiments as the writers. The players came for a continuation of the story that left them amazed back in 2013 and the remastered version. Ellie’s sexuality was not her personality, Ellie was an adored character in the series because her character was executed properly. The same goes for Bill in TLOU. He was a gay man but his sexuality was not his personality and was not a major trait. (I did not even know Bill was a gay man until my 2nd play-through of the game because his sexuality did not matter because he was Bill). The game could have been better Expand

The history it's way too long. Graphiclly it's a well designed game, but we have to think that this game comes from a 2013 game, so it's logical to have some issues and non-well-designed actions and cinematics. The ending it's just unnecesary and horrible. Way too long, way too unnecesary.

However the storytelling in the game is frustratingly bad.
It took the fan's favorite character and killed him off in the most unworthy way possible, to later force the player to play as the unlikrable kille and try to make us feel sorry for her.

Iif you want great graphics and visuals, this game may please you, but if you want a interesting story with depth and emotion this game is not for you.

After 7 years you would think the story you'd think they have perfect ed a story, but we ended up being very dissapointed. ul

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
