Slick Graphics cannot save this dumpster fire. Destroying beloved characters for cheap shock value is not entertainment nor edgy. I loved the first game LOVED and i dont say that lightly. The bond between J & E was amazing and i replayed the game purely for the story sooo many times.
Last of us 2 is a slap in the face. A cheap and hollow experience, the developers must live in some kind

Last of us 2 is a slap in the face. A cheap and hollow experience, the developers must live in some kind of bubble to ever think this steaming turd of a story would be popular.
Biggest disappointment of the decade. Worse than the AGOT finale.

People hated Abby because she killed Joel, but Joel killed her dad. What would you do if someone killed your parent?
Ellie letting Abby live at the end also makes sense, she's trying to forgive so it doesn't eat at her for the rest of her life.
Overall fantastic game and ready to play 2nd time through.

A game not really about revenge, but guilt, the cycles of violence, and forgiveness. It not only challenges your preconceived notions of what is true or not, but more or less tests your capabilities for empathy. There is no game like it and even a week after completing the game, it’s emotional toll on me is still present. Plainly put: a masterpiece.

I think the world design is superb and actually improved from previous Naughty Dog titles. People just really need to try playing with an open mind because the world of The Last of Us is not a world of happy endings and fantasies. One downside I guess is there were unnecessary scenes that didn't quite impress me but overall, it really is a nice game. Art is not meant to please everybody and I think Naughty Dog won't impress everyone at this point, but for a major developer to have this courage in storytelling and game design, I gotta give them a 10. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I cannot comprehend so much hate for the sexuality matter. Of course, it could have been taken care of more properly, but still that doesn’t need to take away the characters value. Some of them are not so good, but some of them are really good and necessary.

It has some negative points for me, starting from very forced character appearances, and the chats with Ellie and her partners while playing, which seems as if nothing had happened to Joel.

This story lets us know that Ellie and Joel are not the only people who deserve something from the world, it shows us the cost and consequences of what their actions have caused in other people who as them, try to live and survive, defending what they care of. Even though Joel has been the most important character of TLOU, consequences fall upon him, and as painfully as it is to watch and feel, Joel’s ending is fair, because everybody knows that Joel’s would have done the same in a similar scenario.

Abby is the harmful truth that shows us that most of the people we kill in combat are just defending what they care of, that every person we kill had a story, a dream, a family, something humanly relevant to life’s importance. I am not saying there aren’t bad or good people, I’m just saying this game makes us conscious of a world we never see in most of the industry, the other side of things. Showing us how much we didn’t care before and even celebrate when our character has done something horrible, because we didn’t know any backgrounds.

There is a point in the game you start slightly hating Ellie’s actions, who at first had all your support. And it’s normal because they showed us the damage we have done. But still Ellie is heavily impulsive and leads to behaviors that make her look like the Joel with that open wound, with that ferocity, and that relentless way of killing.

In the great ending, Ellie’s not mercy but realizing that forgiving Abby’s life, may in a way
mean finishing to forgive Joel, accepting her actions as the same way as Joel’s.

This game in technical matters it’s perfect. The visuals, soundtrack, and sound are excellently handled. The playability is just something else, being perfectly build and fluid through all the game.

The game's entire length is not justified by its content by including drawn out sections that could have theoretically worked in delivering its themes but hurts the narrative's pacing in practice.

The characters, while brilliantly acted with impeccable nuance, are tragically unlikable; an observation that could be attributed to flaws in writing. There is no chemistry between Ellie and Dinah and this permeates to the rest of the character relationships as well.

The game at least plays better than the first though, but that's not exactly a surprising thing to see. It could have benefited from a few more gameplay innovations though as the gap between the two games feels less than the actual seven-year distance it has.

But the strongest detriment that ruined my experience is how jarring the narrative dissonance in contrast to its gameplay. For a game that has elevated in technicality that borders on the uncanny valley of realism, to see characters display emotions only in cutscenes and not in gameplay is deeply off-putting and instantly shatters thematic consistency. I hoped that by this time, Naughty Dog - who are well-known as crafted story-tellers in this medium - should have found the way to resolved this ever-living conflict. But I guess we're still far off from that.

As far as video game sequels I've played from Naughty Dog, I have not had any complaints as all. The entire Uncharted Series was enjoyable, the first Last of Us game had a mix of suspense and climax, but I have many questions for the Last of Us 2.
I didn't really care if the game was pumped with politically correct narratives. What i wanted was more screen time with Joel and Ellie, and the flashbacks don't really do it for me. There were also 2 things that made this game worse, it was the delayed release date and the false advertising from the teaser trailer. In my perspective, delayed products are always the worse, even when it wasn't even worth the wait. I don't understand why Joel had to die, but we cant do anything about it. The entire pace of the game bothered me the most, because the flashbacks felt like downloadable content. Its like there was another chunk of the story that's missing. I've heard other people say that the game play mechanics and the graphics were outstanding. However, if the story is not satisfying, the entirety of this game is pointless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game, visually and technically is nothing but a masterpiece.
The visuals, the lightings, the psychics, it's all near just perfect and honestly the fact that this was done for the ps4 is mind blowing. 10/10 when it comes to graphics, art direction and all.

The gameplay is not much more different from the first part, a few changes and more open battle areas, it's an improvement.

The story is where it falls a bit on it's face, to me, the story wasn't even half as bad as people made it out to be, but it was far from perfect, now for the first 10-15 hours of the game you play as Ellie, and **** happens, Joel literally dies in one of the worst ways possible, that left me with a sour taste in my mouth for a while after it happened, I fell like Joel should've died in a more badass, if it weren't for your friends I would've **** you up kinda way.

Then the Ellie section (Seattle day 1-3) was absolutely great, it was a slow buildup to revenge, seeing the characters go through horrible **** all the way up until we see Abby and then we cut to the Abby section

The Abby section was just ****ty pacing in my opinion, you pulled out all the adrenaline the player had from that moment and just had them play as Abby, and that's where i think this game (rightfully) gets a lot of **** It's hard to get into because you wanna know what happens to Ellie and Tommy, and where the **** is Dina??

Now, apart from that the Abby section, was meh, it was interesting to see all that **** from a different perspective, but it felt like this was some type of DLC or some **** like if I was playing TLOU3 not 2, the characters where alright, Manny was a funny guy, and was kinda suprised when he got shot like that by Tommy, ****ing hated Mel, Nora and **** Owen was a chill dude, Yara was alright, and i just felt bad for Lev, for all the **** they went trough.

Then when the Ellie vs Abby fight happened I got a bit angry, i kinda wanted Abby to die even after playing a whole section of her, so seeing Ellie get **** like that really pissed me off.

In the end, when Ellie was in the farm with Dina, after like 4 years later, I was just confused, I was lost, asking myself what the **** just went on? That whole scene was just confusion, and when Ellie went back out for revenge I kinda was on the same boat, but understood why Dina would be so sad.

Then we reach the final area, by far the weirdest part of the story, so this new faction gets introduced, the rattlers, they're **** and we really never get explained why, they beat the **** out of Abby and Lev and after a few months or years?? Ellie finds them, she frees Abby and at the last moment decides to fight her, the fight itself was executed almost perfectly, it was hard to watch, two characters who have been through hell just fighting finally, as much as I didn't like Abby, I still knew that she's been through ****ing hell, and in the end, Ellie let's her go (after Abby bites of two of her fingers lol) I don't know if I personally wouldn't do it, but i could see why, after all, if Ellie killed Abby, then Lev would have a reson to kill him, then once JJ is older they'll go after Lev and that would just be a ****storm wouldn't it haha

All jokes aside, the ending was pretty confusing to, the audience is left with a ****ton of questions.
Where the hell did Dina go? Where is Ellie going? Where is Abby going? What the **** is going on?

A bit more of closure would've been nice but whatever.

Overall TL;DR: The game starts good, but once the Abby section starts, the game never quite recovers from it. Then after the Ellie vs Abby fight, the story just gets straight up confusing.

The reason I give this game a 8? The visuals are ****ing fantastic, the acting, the lightning, the psychics, and the gameplay are all pretty interesting.
The story meanwhile lacks a bit, it's a good story, but compared to the first one, it's just mediocre.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Does the story suffer from poor writing? or Is it a story that you don't like?

I believe The Last of Us 2 has suffered from both, but more definitely the latter. This is a story that people (including me) don't like. The storytelling wouldn't be under such scrutiny if the story itself was something that we appreciated. I can not critisize the game for its amazing graphics, world creation, and gameplay. It's a beautifully made game. However, with the Last of Us. It's the STORY that matters most. And this is where Naughty Dog left most of it's players upset and exhausted. (FYI, I was blessed not to have to anything spoiled for me prior to playing this game.)

I would like to state that it seems that players who like the game are claiming that MOST of the gamers who dislike TLOU2, dislike it because of LGBTQ representation and main female character. While I would say there are definitely a lot of bigots who are leaving reviews, i believe it is unfair to generalize. Many gamers praise Naughty God for its intention with diversity, but still feel cheated by the story. Especially fans of The Oringal The Last of Us. This game was a long and depressing ride. If you liked the first one, be prepared to be heartbroken.

Naughty Dog seems to have underestimated how much the fans connected with Joel and Ellie from the first game. Not just the characters, but the relationship they developed. You feel for them. You root for them as you see them protect and fight for each other. TLOU2 very swiftly destroyed Joel and Ellie's relationship, killed Joel, and turned Ellie into a broken revenge addict. This is where fans may not like the story. For fair reason. Naughty Dog seemed to disregard why Fans liked the first game for the sake of telling a risky and emotionally draining story. It was not a pleasant experience for the fan and that should make the developers think. However, the game does make you think and ponder upon some of the deeper themes the story makes you ask. I dislike the story, but cannot say It is a story that lacks depth. I dislike the story, but that does not mean it's a "bad" story.

Now the storytelling... Where the story telling fails is regarding Abby. While I still cannot imagine sympathizing with her at all, I believe telling a little bit more of her story in the beginning of the game and fleshing that out... would have helped naughty dog achieve what they wanted. Which is for the player to connect with Abby. This was not done... and it left me personally, wanting to quickly finish the Abby parts to get back to Ellie's narrative. However, quickly finding out that Abby's story keeps going. I was waiting and expecting a switch back to Ellie in the boss fight where you play as Abby, and was subsequently disgusted that the studio had me play a character I didn't like... to beat up a character I was rooting for.

All in all. I have mixed feelings. As any gamer would by the end of the game. A dark, depressing, rollercoaster. I just hope that if there is a part 3. That we do not play as Abby for the majority of it. 6/10

The game is nothing less than a 7 out of 10. The middle portion of the game is slow, and arguably unnecessary. While slow, it's a masterpiece of video game creation. Graphics, animations, and sound are the best of the generation. The story and lies (from previous trailers) are what hold this back.

I wasn't a fan of the first one but this one really blew me away in all aspects of its design. It's hard to put into words all of the amazing aspects of this game because there are so many. Being a fan of zombie games, I felt this was one of the best zombie games I've played and definitely the best dystopian pandemic game I've played. All aspects of the game flow together so well to make an incredibly realistic and heartfelt experience. The gameplay and plot have a high level of contrast between calm, peaceful moments and highly intense, realistic shootouts between other survivors and infected. Because of this contrast, it makes the intensity even more jarring when it does ramp up. Likewise, when it slows down, you really appreciate the calmness and don't find it to be boring. The technical aspects of the game were superb and made it feel like a PS5 generation game. The visuals, the amount of detail, the lush environments, the water effects, the blades of grass, the great frame-rate, fast start up after death, the seamless transitions between cinematics and gameplay, and the seamless transitions between each large area of the game make this game a technical marvel as well as a visual marvel. The sound design is masterclass with certain music and sound cues at just the right time to highlight cinematic moments, the terrifying cries of infected, changes in weather, and the delivery of npc dialogue. The enemy AI is also top of its class with enemies acting very realistic and flanking you, or throwing explosive projectiles at you and working together to draw you out. The overall plot/story is very jarring and gives you a deep sense of grief, loss, tragedy, anger, sadness, hopeless, and helplessness which at first makes you question the quality of the game and message. The second time experiencing the narrative/plot, I appreciated it a lot more for what it was trying to convey and I think it nailed it. Without giving anything away, I think it really makes you think and feel strongly about giving into intense emotions and the outcomes of those emotions if acted upon. It may not be comfortable, full-filling, or enjoyable, but that is the point. And I think by designing the game like this, it makes the game more realistic and not just a simple black and white tale of vengeance and good versus evil. We get to see the overall picture to why things happened the way they did and not just a one sided view through the protagonist's view. The Last Of Us II is not an easy game to play. It's a game that challenges you in many different ways whether its through its gameplay, setting, characters, or in its narrative. Not everyone will appreciate it for this reason, but if you are looking for an experience that will challenge your view of right and wrong, question your intense emotions, and make you think/feel outside your own perspective, then this is one of those games that will make you do so. As well as transport you to a cruel and unforgiving world where humans act like wild animals and survival and protecting loved one's is everyone's top priority no matter what cost and loss of human civility.

Story is lazy and there is too much going on for you to care about all the new characters introduced. Gameplay mechanics didn’t evolve enough for a sequel that took 7 years. Graphics and polish were outstanding though.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was extremely disappointing. I was really hoping naughty dog wouldn’t go the cheap story route of having Ellie go on a revenge rampage for Joel’s murder. It was predictable and unsatisfying. I also didn’t like how the game tries to make the gamer feel bad for Abby, the girl who murders Joel. Even with her backstory I found her very unlikeable. I also didn’t like the political correctness naughty dog shoves down your throat. I’m not saying you should be offensive but they really want to get patted on the back for their political correctness. Lastly, I didn’t appreciate all the religious profanities and religious slander. I can’t tell you how many times the main characters say JESUS. I am a Christian and tolerate all the f-bombs and violence they throw at me, but there’s no need to isolate a specific religion. The only good things about the game is the amazing gameplay, level design, and visuals. Definitely not enough to save a terrible story especially when the first Last of Us story was phenomenal. Characters' decisions didn’t make sense either. Like how Abby not only spares Ellie and Tommy’s lives at the beginning of the game but also near the end. That just wouldn’t happen in an apocalypse. Let alone twice. Not worth your money. They should never have made a second game or they should have gone with a completely different story then the one that they gave us. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Buena la version de Take on me. Nota: 6/10

Throughout my entire play-through of the Last of Us Part II I was waiting for that moment where the game would disappoint me: it never happened. Even while the credits were rolling, I was waiting for some after-credit scene that would explain the slew of negative user reviews: nothing. That is when I decided to write this.

The graphics of this game are astonishing. It blows out of the water anything else I've seen this console generation. From the eerie rooms full of spores to the beautiful open fields and mountains, the detail put into every single environment makes it feel so damn real and the immersion is never broken. This is impossible to really put into words, it just needs to be experienced.

The gameplay is in many ways better than the original. The core experience of "explore, loot, combat, cinematic" is there, but it’s been taken to the next level to create these mini arcs that, combined with the scenery and the storyline, become very memorable. I praise the addition of the Lock-On Aim feature, being primarily a PC player, this made my experience much more enjoyable. Also, their difficulty settings are one of the best I’ve seen in any game, period. They allowed me to fine tune the experience to my liking: lots of ammo and resources, but extremely deadly enemies. Having the ability to balance the game to your liking is a HUGE PLUS.

The amount of environmental puzzles may seem lacking at first. But it’s because the best puzzles in the game are optional. Instead of an obvious ladder or bin that needs to be moved around, a good portion of the puzzles are hidden behind the placement of enemies and the layout of the levels. But don’t fret, they kept a few ladders and bins here and there, it’s the Last of Us after all. Safe boxes are not awfully hard to solve, but each one of them bring a small nugget of storytelling that always feels fresh.

The story of this game is what EVERYONE is complaining about. By the way, even if the story was complete garbage, I’d still give this game 9/10 just based on what I’ve mentioned before. I understand that this story is not for everyone, and I respect that, but for me, it was absolutely masterful. Throughout the entire game I FELT what Ellie felt and I also FELT what her enemies felt. This game grabbed me by the hand and started running at light speed and it trusted I could run along with it. It took me to emotional places that NO OTHER MEDIA has ever been able to show me. I praise Naughty Dog for their commitment to their characters and their passion for showing the world their vision. The Last of Us Part 2 is a story about FORGIVENESS, not REVENGE like everyone says. But that’s just my take on it, I’m no expert.

Just because I’ve heard other people talking about this. I never felt any SJW or political agenda being pushed. Avenger’s Endgame girl power shot was waaaaaay worse than anything you’ll see in this game.

This is my first review and probably the last one I'll ever write. The fact that I'm even writing this review means that I care enough to take the time to go through this. This score reflects my honest opinion of the game, and it would be a 10/10 even if the average user score was 10.0. For those who are ready to have an open mind and forget about all the BS around it, give this game a chance, it's worth every penny.

The combat is an upgrade from the first part. The game is a lot longer because there is more to tell. I get the hate about the inconsistency between character jumps and nobody likes flashbacks. Some characters are forgettable like Nora and Mel, but the rest have enough backstory to them. I'm glad that Ellie is able to reclaim her humanity by not killing Abby. Had she killed Abby, she would have become more broken and struggle to find herself in the same way that Abby did and maybe even worse. All in all, this was an amazing experience. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It breaks my heart and soul to have to write this, but I can't keep it in. The whole story is made to subvert expectations, but it is done just for that sake, done very poorly. Joel dies for nothing, there are no good moments between him and Ellie. Nobody else important dies, but Ellie loses everything. It is sad just for the sake of being sad. The media wants to make it about gamers hating LGBTQ and women, but we don't care that certain characters are the way they are. We simply don't want that to be the focus, just like Ellie being lesbian wasn't the focus in the first game. The game was about Joel doing whatever it took to survive and protect Ellie. Part 2 should've been Ellie doing whatever it took to get revenge for Joel or Dina. Playing as Abby sucks, its the worst thing I have ever had and not wanted to do in a video game. Consider my expectations subverted. As I said, Joel dying is the only meaningful thing that happens, other than that Ellie just loses everything, and yeah it's sad. And killing Abby at the end wouldn't make up for that. There are plot holes in almost every main plot point, especially with the way Joel acts, and with Ellie too. I did not want to play the second half of the game, I didn't even want to play after Joel died because his death was meaningless, in the end, the whole "quest" was just for Ellie to lose even more. I don't know everything I'm feeling, but I know I am just sad. I can't cry over this anymore, and I take solace in the fact that others agree with me, and we know that this just doesn't make sense. 0/10, I am sorry for everyone that knows this exists, I know many of us wish it ended with the first game, and I think we truly can believe that it did, and this is just so absurd that we can realize it is simply a mistake, tainted by Neil Druckmann, and Anita Sarkeesian, not because there are women, lesbians, and (possibly) transgenders in it, but because it is not a part 2 of The Last of Us, it is a completely different monster that makes no sense, and focuses on the wrong issues of a post-apocalyptic world, and changes the characters in an unrealistic and borderline absurd way. Also, the false advertising through the trailers changing the ages of Joel and Ellie, and in one case replacing Jesse with Joel, is a pretty significant issue. Nobody deserved this, and once again, I am truly, deeply sorry, and saddened that this is the way it went. My heart is broken. Expand

The graphics are the best I’ve seen, the audio is superb, the gameplay is as great as expected by Naughty Dog. Overall, to those who dislike the story: I don’t see how you can rate this game lower than an 8. The story is worth 3 points, Gameplay is 4 points, Graphics, audio, and game quality (stability, bugs, etc.) are worth 3 points. The story might not be liked by most immature people that can’t accept how dark a world like TLOU is, and somehow can’t understand that what Ellie and Abby feel are very human, but even then— if you dislike something, it doesn’t mean it is bad. Something can be great and still be disliked. Would actually take you all seriously if you rated it high but said you didn’t like it, solely because the game is factually, objectively, a masterpiece. They are self-centered, entitled men who went to toxic lengths to to reject the story they were told for the one in their heads, and are happy to COMPLETELY disregard the bigger picture of this world to play the hero. I totally understand it from a design perspective, they wanted to throw a wrench into traditional storytelling and humanize the bad guys. However, this is a tall order when you’re trying to get the audience to sympathize with the character that just murdered 1/2 of one of gaming’s most beloved duos. This did not hit the way they intended it to, and it turns these segments into boring filler with no real weight or consequence. All in all, that’s pretty much my only gripe with the game. Gunplay feels a little stiff sometimes, but other than that, I really enjoyed my play through, and would most definitely recommend picking this game up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the first game, so much that I have played through it multiple times and not once did I ever rush through it. I hoped that part 2 would have made me want to play though it at least a second time but sadly I doubt that I ever will. I avoided all the leaks so I had no inclination to be skeptical of purchasing it. Though I did watch the trailers which made be beyond hyped, as the original was perhaps one of my, if not favorite games. I was so excited to have another Joel and Ellie adventure. That was my main reason for getting the game. So I was shocked when I played, and in just around two hours of gameplay, they killed him off in such a disrespectful way. I was even more shocked when I realized that they replaced Joel's character model and line from one of the best moments in the trailers, with a character that, although enjoyable, paled in comparison. Not only that but they purposely swapped out old and young Joel models from the trailer, making many to believe he was going to be a core character that would accompany you throughout at least most of the game. To me this is false advertisement and purposely misleading the fans just to ensure they sold more copies of the game. Its not that Joel was killed off, its how he was killed off and how they tricked every one in the trailers. I honestly loved the gameplay mechanics, and graphics, but to me a game can have all the best graphics, gameplay, sound and world design, and if the story is ruined, that just loses me. Also, having to play as the main antagonist for so long, for one was boring to me and I just wanted to get it over with. I understand trying to show that there are two sides to every story, but players tend not to care when that character killed off such a beloved character, so it makes it hard to sympathize with her. I do not believe that this was a game worth waiting 7 years for. Especially when it ruins such beloved characters. I couldn't wait to finish it because of how dark and depressing the entire game was. The game does have pacing issues and it can be confusing as to what the game is trying to say. The last of us part 2 elicits equally powerful emotions as the first game did. The difference being these emotions are ones of anger and hatred, while the first game was of love, and redemption. Expand

The in-game physics and graphics make it a good game without doubt. But the terrible narratives and plots in this sequel totally ruined . The more deep you love TLoU, the more disgust and abomination you will experience playing-through TLoU2.

This sequel was butchered by Naughty Dog like Ellie taking a knife to the throat an innocent NPC.

The story is actually one of the most pretentious dog piles I've ever witnessed. The writing thinks it's 100 times more profound than it actually is. In reality it's about as deep as a puddle.
The entire game exists to massage the egos of the developers.
Naughty Dog no longer gets a pass after this one.

The Last of Us Part II is not perfect. Creating a "perfect" piece of media is, in my opinion, impossible. However, this game is pretty damn close. It's a shame that people decided it sucked before they even gave it a chance. Naughty Dog spent years of development painstakingly crafting their best vision for this game, and yet people are so quick to attack with mindless fury.

Simply put. This game is not perfect by any means, but I think this game does significantly more right then it does wrong. Sound design/music, Cinematography, UI, Accessibility, and Gameplay are virtually perfect and a marginal improvement from Naughty Dog's previous game Uncharted 4.

Simply put. This game is not perfect by any means, but I think this game does significantly more right then it does wrong. Sound design/music, Cinematography, UI, Accessibility, and Gameplay are virtually perfect and a marginal improvement from Naughty Dog's previous game Uncharted 4.

Where the issues arise are in some questionable bloated flashback sequences and a bold dichotomy between our established main character Ellie, and the new 'villian' character Abby. I think this story would have been told much better if it weren't for the excessive use of flashbacks and failure to establish Abby and friends before killing off our previous main character, Joel. This would have allowed us as the player to become more shocked with the death of Joel, and would cut down on the portion of the game where you take control of Abby in Seattle.

Despite this, I think that the broad stroke of a revenge story on the surface being transformed into a story about forgiveness and how our two main characters change over time was executed fairly well. This game has so much intertwining of plot threads that you probably will need to play this a second time to really appreciate what all is happening between the time you play as Ellie in Seattle to when you eventually play as Abby.

This story isn't nearly as linear and focused as the original, but I found myself unable to guess what happens next while playing. Ultimately, this resulted in a gripping story that I thoroughly enjoyed for the most part, and would recommend playing.

A ambientação do jogo é excelente.

The emotional intensity of this game is surreal. This demonstrates the developers' ability to project human nature into their work, traumatic relapses and weakened humanization in this context. It has its flaws, just like human beings.

This game is the complete package of graphics, incredible audio design, tight stealth and third person shooting, and a narrative that simply hasn't ever been told in a game before. The "revenge is bad" theme is obviously there, but that is super reductive.

The game does an excellent job delving into the psyches of the characters and examining how human relationships can be absolutely fraught and at times, make no sense. Anyone who has ever had a contentious or complicated relationship with a parent or other loved one will immediately identify with the mature themes the writing conveys with regards to this.

It's hard to imagine anyone who considers themselves a gamer not enjoying this game and I think most of the negative reviews come with a heavy agenda and are not in good faith. As a big fan of the first game, this game surpasses it in every way.

The gameplay is essentially the same TLOU 1 with some tweaks. Nothing ground breaking, but works fine. 5/10 The plot / story is where the game fails in my opinion - it begins very strong, and begins to fizzle out as previously established characters make questionable decisions that are almost antithetical to what came before, as well as plot threads that seem to strain believability within the world that’s been created. One controversial death in particular - and the choice to move the plot towards the development of newer, less interesting characters ( with one major perspective shift in particular) makes it seem like the plot was decided early on with the characters just arbitrarily moved around to make it all fit and fails to feel organic at all. Decisions in the storytelling that should come off as bold and smart, come off as half baked and empty. Part of me wonders if it would have been more effectively told as a story completely separate from the first - or, it the team had opted to focus on the new characters right away and reveal twists as the game progressed instead of marketing the game based on continuing the story established in part 1. 1.5/10 As an a huge fan of the first game - and as a player who has played through it no less that 5 times, I can’t help but feel like Joel and Ellie deserved better. Final thoughts - divisiveness aside - the game will certainly be a huge success, but as someone who’s loved nearly all of Naughty Dog’s catalogue and TLOU1 in particularly being an all time favorite, it pains me to say that ultimately, this sequel is extremely disappointing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've waited 7 years for this game and Naughty Dog surpassed itself yet again. The graphics, the mechanics, the atmosphere, and the story are amazing. The Horse and boat mechanics are very smooth, it didn't feel as clunky compared to the first game. Same with the character mechanics; it felt very quick and responsive.

I love the new craftables and the redesign of the Stalkers. The stalkers in the first game felt more like the runners, they didn't feel like its own infected stage compared to the second game. I'm glad ND made it a bit more unique and fun to fight.

I really like the story; I love how you play as Ellie in the first part full with rage to seek your revenge; I also love how ND makes you play as the "villain" Abby in the second part. The first game was very bias in viewpoint because you are mainly playing as Joel and I love how they switched it up in Part 2. A story can have multiple climaxes and viewpoints and TLOU2 did that fairly well.

When I first played Abby, I didn't really have much feelings towards here. I tried to keep an open mind about the character. And surprisingly, I came to like here more and more as her story progress. I love the relationship between her and the Sepharites kids. The only thing i didn't like was the awkward love triangle between Abby, Owen, and Mel but I can understand how they can be foils to Ellie's, Jesse's, and Dina's relationship.

The game completely drained all of my emotions. I was struggling to fight Abby in the end. I knew her past self was completely during the pillar scene. Both Ellie and Abby were husks of their previous selves. Ellie suffers from PTSD and lost of friends and her father figure. Abby Lost all here friends (but Lev) and suffered nightmares even if she got her revenge.

The Last of Us Part 2 story was more than just about revenge, it was more about forgiveness and acceptances. During the scene where Ellie was drowning Abby in the last fight she had a flashback of her and Joel; that flashback was predominantly talking about forgiveness, Ellie forgiving Joel. That struck a cord, Ellie knew killing Abby was not worth it, it was only going to continue the cycle (maybe Lev seeking revenge if Ellie kills Abby and so on).

Sometimes in life the best closure is to forgive and to accept. In the end, Ellie forgives Joel and accepts his death and both Ellie and Abby forgave one other knowing revenge would be childish.

What's interesting in this game is that there is a lot of parallels in this game. Specifically toward the end of the game, Abby and Lev (during the pillar and beach scene) parallels Joel and Ellie during the hospital scene. That was a nice detail. Overall this game is great! Definitely in my eyes out did it's predecessor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don’t listen to the beta male haters of this game. They made it their mission to review bomb a game that most of them didn’t even play. They watched the spoilers and got butt hurt that Joel died. And their homophobic lgbtq nonsense just adds to their lack of any kind of meaningful insight to the game. That being said, this game is amazing. If you loved the first game and fully understood its themes, you’ll love this game. It’s beautifully done. Not only the graphics, music and gameplay, but also the story. This game will make you truly “feel” what’s going on inside these characters. I was fully ready to hate Abby for what she did to Joel. But after completing this game, I grew to understand why she did what she did. And although I wish I still would’ve had the option to kill her, I understand why ND wrote the story in this way. Abby arguably lost more than Ellie ever did. Abbys story is essentially the same as Ellie’s, just from her own perspective. Joel deserved to die. If you truly believe that Ellie deserved vengeance, than you can’t logically think that Abby should’ve been denied hers. Abby spent 4 years training for her mission to find Joel, and it shows in her physique. Much like an MMA fighter. Again, my only regret is not getting the option to kill Abby. Although ND made me empathize with her, I’ll always be loyal first to Joel and Ellie. Expand
