Last of Us made history, because it's story. This is not the case, plain, swallow, simple and supercharged with ideological stuff that simple does not belong.

Look, I’m not gonna beat around the bush and give you some mealy mouthed critique. Everything from the plot and story structure to the gameplay and world are absolutely masterfully intertwined. The more you dig into this title the more and more depth complexity and thought to every single detail and decision you’ll find. It may well be what no one expects wants or even excepts. But it is every ounce the narrative and character masterpiece of its predecessor.
This is the next chapter of the story. This is what happens. Quite possibly the unabashed unapologetic end. For better and for worse. Love it or hate it.

    - Amazing graphics
    - Breathtaking animations
    - Great voice acting

    Cons
    - repetitive gameplay (based in one area. never feels like you're moving forward in the story.)
    - unlikable characters shoved down our throats
    - lack of character developments (not once did I care for any other character besides the ones from the first games.)
    - questionable gameplay decisions (making us fight a character we love making them feel like the villain. made for one of the most uncomfortable gaming experiences.)
    - poor story (final sequence felt like it was made up on the spot. There is still little known about the rattlers and why they are so important in that moment.)

After I experience the whole story,I can feel the pain, the anger and hatred in their heart , but there is no other way than just letting it go.Once you hurt someone, you will start a hatred line,'I revenge on you,you revenge on me'.The hatred will grow and grow ,and **** stuff never comes to an end.

Also as the director of the game said, it's more on the hate side than love.
Don't get me wrong, I cried my ass off for 15 mins when I saw that big scene, but I guess I decided to enjoy this masterpiece and listen to it's message as apposed to blaming it for not being EXACTLY the same as the 1st game.

It is a story about people trying to do protect or avenge the loved ones, in a brutal world where often there are no good choices. Later part of the story shows me those ‘badies’ are just like you and me, good and dear to their friends, trying to protect them, or failing that, avenge them. It is an emotional rollercoaster that grip my heart tightly. It has been 2 days since my playthrough and I just can't stop thinking about it.
IF you are OK with a linear story where the flow of major events is 100% scripted, like a film, and IF you don't mind non-sequential story-telling (Think Westworld tv series, or Money Heist), then I will wholeheartedly recommend you give this a try.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished The Last of Us part II and I’d give it a 9.5/10. If this game could be described as a quote it would be “An eye for eye ends up making the whole world blind.” This game beautifully captures the brutality of never ending violence In part II the story gives real consequences to each characters actions. People who hate the story simply don’t understand its message or are obnoxiously in love with a character and never want to see harm done to them (which is extremely childish). ‬

The Last of Us I & II are games where people die. It’s a violent, scary, and brutal world. Giving a character never ending luck not only discredits the story but is a slap in the face to fans. Joel and Ellie are NOT immortal. Get over it. ‬

Bringing back the theme of never ending violence (a cycle of violence). Joel and Ellie are beloved characters but they are by no means good people. They’ve both killed innocent people.‬

Did Joel deserve what happened to him? If you say no then let me ask you this did all those fireflies deserve to die? Did the world deserve to be robbed of their chance at curing the world? Millions of lives for Ellie’s life? Is that fair? That’s why this story is so good. ‬

This story is so good because if you put yourself in the shoes of any one of these characters you can find a way to justify their actions.‬

If you’re Joel: you lost Sarah and didn’t have the chance to save her. With Ellie you have a chance to save her and you love her like she’s your daughter. As Joel you can easily justify every action he made. ‬

If you’re Abby: your father was murdered by a man who killed most of the fireflies. You want justice to be served. As Abby you’re justified in your actions. ‬

If you’re Ellie: you’re father figure and a man you love dearly was beaten to death in front of you, BRUTALITY. You want revenge. You will kill anyone and do anything to get justice (sounds familiar? Abby was on the same mission). As Ellie you’re justified in your actions. ‬

The ending of the game and the reason Ellie didn’t go through with killing Abby is because if she did 1 it wouldn’t bring Joel back and 2 it would just continue the cycle of violence. Ellie understood why Abby was after Joel. Ellie could see herself in Abby. ‬

If we were to never start out as Joel and Ellie but as Abby we would view Ellie as the ‘bad guy’. They did an amazing job with this story. ‬

The game was great. It was not SJW trash. It didn’t push any sort of SJW narrative. Most of the Hate about the game is blown out of proportion. It’s a game you have to experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part ||,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall it was an enjoyable experience playing that left me with a mixture of emotions all at once: frustration, sadness, determination and fear.

In regards to the improvements, I found the gameplay to be improved somewhat, adding in new mechanics (e.g. dodge during melee, going prone to hide/access certain areas) alongside with a few tweaks that made the combat segments more intense/enjoyable than the first instalment (e.g. easier to stealth kill, many options to approach enemies which caters to various play styles).

The visuals/audio I considered to be a vast improvement, every emotion evoked by each character felt authentic. The gruesome attention to detail from bashing someone's face in with a pipe or blood gushing out of a slit throat from your blade really aided in setting the gritty, morbid tone The Last Of Us is known for, however it is most certainly 'amped up' within Part II. Each voice actor/actress performed their roles very well-done, and I was genuinely surprised by the appearance of Laura Bailey and Jeffrey Wright.

Discussing the new characters, I honestly thought was not lacking, but they could've been improved slightly. The death of Joel had now forced me to start feeling for the new characters, Dina and Jesse. Unfortunately, they just didn't strike me as much as I'd hoped. I found as if they weren't given enough time for their personalities/backgrounds to breathe long enough. For example, the idea I had gotten from Jesse's character was that he had an Asian background, he was once in a relationship with Dina and at some point had gotten her pregnant. That was it. That's not to say I necessarily hated these characters, they were just mediocre at best. The dynamic relationship between Joel and Ellie on their journey through the states was a crucial element in Part I that made it so great. They are one of the most memorable and loveable video game duos of my generation. For Naughty Dog to kill him off was a bold move on their part and I could see why. They wanted to build more on the world of The Last Of Us.

Along with Dina and Jesse, Part II introduced the new protagonist Abby and her crew. Personally I couldn't stand Abby's character not only because of her intentions to murder Joel, but also I thought her personality was actually pretty cold and selfish. Despite all that, she was actually one of the more fleshed out characters of the entire game. Her motivations and actions throughout Part II could be argued as justifiable in some cases. I still disliked her however. The other members (Owen, Mel, Manny, etc.) again all were too similar to Dina and Jesse, just slightly mediocre characters with somewhat fleshed out backgrounds but it just wasn't enough to feel invested in them. The two characters that took me by surprise but was Yara and Lev who I thought were the most charming and likeable new characters. I was genuinely motivated to aid this ragtag brother-sister duo along with their issues.

Addressing the general plot... To be honest, at first I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I hadn't seen many of the trailers/gameplay reveals released prior so basically I delved in with no set expectations. Halfway through however, I thought so far the story was a complete mess. Everything that happened as it strung me along felt all over the place. Ellie's endeavours in Seattle was more concise and easy to follow where as Abby's adventures with Yara and Lev was convoluted and unpredictable. However after finishing the campaign and looking back on it, I grew to somewhat appreciate the muddy tone of the story. As much as a mess it was, it made me want to progress more because I was so on edge as to what was gonna happen until the end of the game. Despite the flawed storyline, Last Of Us Part II is still a riveting take on how the world would cope in an apocalyptic setting.

I will add this in, seeing the advertising after finishing the game TWICE now was most certainly misleading in the sense that Joel was depicted as a more major character in the story, taking Jesse's spot at certain points during the trailers. Yes, video game trailers are edited often to prevent giving away crucial plot elements but in Naughty Dog's case it was such a noticeable difference and for fans to feel betrayed in such a way I do not blame them.

This game decides to destroy an excellent game series in the name of "progressive" themes. Identity politics meets poor storytelling. I only have it a 1/5 because I was worried that a 0/5 would not be counted.

Yes, I do agree Joel's death was executed poorly and did affect the story, however, the game did have quite a few pros.

Gore and violence (opinionated) pretty good
Environment and puzzles Good but can be better

Stephen King is sometimes known to write excellent horror and mystery novels with bad or plain soft endings. Some TV series have been known to have won praise for its storytelling and realization, but with bad or sometimes silly endings, such as The Sopranos, HIMYM, Game of Thrones… Lately some Movies have been stained with the political agenda of Genre and LGBT propaganda...Toxic Feminism and useless political views. Examples abound.

Now, it is the turn of what it could be the greatest videogame in its generation. But that isn.t accomplished on the second part of the story. The first one excels, but this second one...it is an absolute disrespect towards the 1st game.
The story and the characters are so horribly written. The only thing that's truly great about this game are the graphics. And that's it. The quality of the story rivals the story of Star Wars VIII: The last jedi. And we are talking about a franchise-murderer movie.

    Score: 1/10
    - If you're looking for a great story, AVOID this game.
    - If you're a fan of the story and characters of the 1st tlou, AVOID this game.
    - If you don't like it when someone spits in your (or Joel's) face, AVOID this game.
    - If you don't care about the franchise and the future of gaming at all and all you seek are the
    graphics, buy this game.

Soundtrack as only the The Last of Us can deliver.
A polished gameplay of the first part.
Characters who show infinite counterparts and facets of their personality.
A story full of revenge and resentment.
    Great character development.
The only thing that I disliked of this game was that it wasn´t necessary at all. The first game delivered a story contained on itself.
But I think that its a nice and worth sequel that leads to many emotions to the player such as anger, sadness, joy and despair.
I totally loved it and I hate it to have those low grades of people that haven´t played it at all.
The only thing that comforts me is the thought that public isn´t ready yet to such powerful and intense story which in a future I think will be far more appreciated,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In all sincere fairness, the Last of Us Part II has disappointed me beyond belief. I am so glad that a friend lent me his copy to review the game because I have saved myself $60. The game is extremely mired with Neil Druckmann's political beliefs and the WoRsT DiReCtIoN I have yet to see in a videogame.
For starters, the trailers were purposely misleading and that cannot be ignored because they were advertising a game that people did not receive. I was ready for Joel to die, but the terrible way his death was handled is a "spit in the face" to character everyone grew to care for and love in the original game. I mean this literally, as Druckmann created a character that looks just like him and spits on Joel's face after her gets murdered.
This has to be the Worst Writing In The History of Videogames! That is not an exaggeration. Joel gets murdered by this new character that is forced down your throat and you Do NoT care about at all.
Druckmann tries so hard to make you sympathize with what honestly seems like a Transvestic character, but he fails so hard at it, it is despicable and brutally hilarious at the same time.
In the name of RePrEsAnTaTiOn and his association with Anita Sarkeesian (a person who knows nothing about the videogame fanbase), Druckmann decided to pair you with a TranSexual Child that one also fails to sympathize with since his or her or they or whatever that can be called does not get sufficient screen time nor does it have much of a compelling story that most people playing Last of Us can relate to.
I thought that playing Ellie would be the redeeming quality of the game, but even that turns out terrible with the atrocious story plots involving her like the silliest love triangle, if you can even call it that, I've witnessed portrayed in entertainment.
Some levels are expansive, but become overly repetitive and downright boring after performing the same stealth takedown animation 300 times.
I will say this because others may not have the audacity to, but it needs to be said. The Abby 'Transvestic' and Owen sex scene that Sony and Naughty Dog have forced/coerced players to watch is dowrnight Disgusting, it is Gross, and Laughable. The irony is that Sony censored Trish's buttcrack in Devil May Cry 5, but they want you to see manly **** rubbing against another dude. Something is going terribly wrong at Sony Headquarters and Naughty Dog needs to get rid of Druckmann if they want to stay relevant because Last of Us Part II has sent them down the rabbit hole.
It is so crazy that I have to write this about a company and a developer that I admired for so long.
Something changed, and it has changed for the WoRsT!

Pros: the game has pretty graphics
Mixed: Somewhat-decent gameplay (not much evolution from original)
Cons: Worst story ever; Force-fed Druckmann politics; androgynous character faces; worst revenge plot; Joel dies; You play Ellie only half the game; You have to play with a Transvestic character and have a TranSexual child for a partner; Gross uncensored transvestic nudity.

You get the gist of this review. The Cons outweigh anything remotely positive by 9000.

Last of Us Part II is the stairway to doom for Sony and Naughty Dog.

Last of Us Part II turned out more like End of Us Part II.

Expand

No other developer in the industry who's on the same level in terms of budget and exposure touches these subjects in quite the same way. The characters here aren't larger than life; the violence, while at time gruesome, is never glorified; there are no heroes, no villains. Despite the fictional nature of the setting, it's one of the most grounded human stories I've ever experienced. At no point does it make things easy - the light years-ahead facial capture technology used here isn't just a touch of polish, it's used to convey the characters' feelings with nuance and subtlety unprecedented in the medium. The story respects the player enough to never explicitly tell them what they're supposed to feel, and is mature enough to understand that the player doesn't always have to agree with what their character is doing.

This truly is a once-in-a-generation presentation, from story to technology to gameplay, which is frankly another aspect of the game that is remarkably well done. With a story and setting this fleshed-out, personally I'd be OK with less than stellar gameplay. But they've expanded upon this as well, creating more traversal options for a more open world, combat areas with dozens of paths in every direction, AI that will surprise you when you take it for granted, and weapon/crafting systems that are as as slick and intuitive as ever. All this while maintaining great pacing, offering varied enemy encounters, puzzles, and exploration.

This game really is the whole package. Can't recommended it enough, to be honest.

It seems the story honestly would be better off if they just left Joel and Ellie alone and has used different protagonists. As I was playing through the game I honestly didn’t care about any of the new characters which is due to the failed writing. Also, one would imagine that when creating a sequel you also attempt to push your gaming mechanics to a new level to raise the bar of gaming and create a fresh experience while maintaining what worked in your previous game. Instead, ND decided to just do a copy and paste of the first TLOU, which feels outdated and out of place in 2020. I honestly had to force myself to finish the game due to a lack of interest or engagement, so I at least would have an trophy to show for the 60 dollars I burned on this game. If you like disappointment, this is the game for you. The game is getting a 3 out of 10 only because of the graphics and sound tbh, the art (with the exception of the character models) and sound design teams deserve applaud, every other team should re-evaluate the work they do and ask themselves if what they’re doing will push the franchise in a positive direction or negative. Unfortunately this is not the case with TLoU2 where you feel the 50% of the game is cinematics, 30% of the game is walking and exploring and 20% is actual gameplay. and then, we have the political agenda, the fact that they would remove Joel from the game and replace him with a gorilla girl on steroids in order to pander to feminists and those other weirdos talks a lot about the director and the quality of his ideas. I knew that Joel was going to die before even going into the game and Ellie being LGTBQ+ wasn't and issue either. I was looking forward to seeing Ellie take a darker turn then how we knew her in the first game and being able to see her kind of take a path similar to Joel's when he was younger but that isn't what was given to the audience. From all the trailers and teasers it seems like Ellie has changed drastically and that shes on this path of revenge on people who killed a father-like figure to her, even though her and Joel weren't in the best place (relationship wise) she still didn't want him to die and at first that's what the story gave us. For most of the game you do play as Ellie and you see her hunt down Abby's friends but she barely ever gets to enact her revenge on any of them. Tommy gets there before her and kills some guys which is okay but doesn't feel great for Ellie then she gets captured and would have died if Dina didn't save her and while she did Kill a guy here it still didn't feel rewarding for the player it was just an "oh sh*t I have to save Dina" moment. I will say that the chase scene for Nora was great and thrilling even Ellie's first encounters with the scars was intense. However, when Ellie tries to question Mel and Owen it seems very sloppy and I know Ellie has never done anything like that before so its reasonable that she would be sloppy it just doesn't feel like the Ellie the audience was shown. I would have preferred a much darker version of Ellie where she does have some knowledge and practice at torturing people for information thanks to Joel and instead of Tommy getting to kill people it should've been just Ellie with Dina alongside her watching as Ellie spirals down into a pit of anger and rage and blood-lust, it would make Dina's character and relationship with Ellie a bit more impactful and important to the story. Having Dina watch Ellie turn into something she can't see herself being with anymore and then it becomes a story where Ellie wants revenge but at what cost? she loses Dina and her friends because she so consumed in her rage and hatred for Abby's friends but that wasn't what we got. After Ellie gives Mel and Owen, Abby hunts her down and injures Tommy and kills Jesse but before getting to the first showdown your forced to place as Abby for the next 10 hours. While I understand the contrast they were trying to make with Abby and the first game it all just falls apart. You can't force your audience to feel bad or love a character after seeing all the horrible things they've done, its like taking Harry Potter and forcing the viewer to feel bad or care about Voldemort after seeing all the terrible things he's done to people it just doesn't work that way. The story should have began with Abby which would of forced the player to get used to new characters and maybe liking some of them without having the knowledge of these people being the ones who kill Joel. It was very hard to play the game and be forced to play as Abby during the first fight with Ellie it didn't feel good or fun to play. It doesn't even make you think Abby is a good person, she would have killed Dina knowing that she was pregnant when Ellie had no clue that Mel was pregnant, she only found out after killing her and Owen. The story focuses so much on trying to make you feel bad for Abby that you question why Ellie is even in the game, it makes you feel like it isn't even her story anymore. Even the ending leaves a bad taste in the mouths of the audience when after not being able to let go of Joel and everything that has happened she once again sets out to get her revenge but doesn't even get that and then loses Dina over nothing. Abby got her revenge and lived granted her friends are dead now she still took out her revenge against someone that killed her dad. Ellie set out for revenge lost her friend and even later on her girlfriend and for what? Ellie didn't take out her revenge she went and killed 4 people that only traveled along with Abby, she didn't kill the target of her anger while Abby did. The message of the story feels like revenge for Abby is good while revenge for Ellie is bad, why? That's my issue with the game. Overall is just didn't leave the player feeling like they accomplished anything. I would of liked for Ellie to have killed Abby and lost Dina because she set out and took her revenge even when Dina told her to stay then that makes the player really feel the weight of the decision Ellie made. She lost the person she loved because she went to kill Abby but this isn't what happened and the story just fell short for me in the end. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story, visuals, , graphics, gameplay, just about everything in this game is amazing! The attention to detail in this game is exquisite! One of the very few games that I have enjoyed so much that I just couldn't stop playing to the point my eyes were dead-shot red and people thought I was seriously sick and needed a hospital. It's something very small but the representation of the lgbt in this game was really cool. It's something so small and not the focus of the story but still enough that it was definitely seen and heard. Except for the build-up for Dina and Ellie's relationship in the beginning (which was a bare minimum) it's just casual and barely noticeable for the rest of the game that there's anything more going on. The way they brought in without overdoing it was on point. If anyone thinks they did overdo it they were focused on the wrong thing during the game, I can tell you that! The story on it's own was very well written and played out. It really got you wanting more each minute you're in the game. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Maybe the only note that I have is the ending, Ellie leaving her family behind to chase down Abby to let her go in the end seemed a bit of a waste, though there's indication that Dina went back to Jackson and you can see Ellie leaving the house as well, probably going after her. For me, this is the perfect way to end the franchise although I wouldn't be opposed to another game. All in all, the game was worth the wait all these years. Expand

Very enjoyable addition to the series. A lot darker than the previous game and those going on to play with expectations of a similar vibe to the first one will be disappointed. But is also a tale of forgiveness as well if you can overcome the anger just like the main protagonists. Graphics are definitely the most realistic and impressive of this gen of gaming. The AI is much more intelligent and their interactions, cries of agony and anguish for their lost friend or dog is very believable and as a player I felt guilt and uncomfortable with my actions. I've never had a game make me feel that way before and I appreciate it for the level of immersion it provided for that to be possible. It is a bold direction for Naughty Dog but one I very much enjoyed. It's not the best story driven game I've ever played but I admire the direction they took. It was bold, they didn't take the easy route and provide a cookie cutter copy of the first game to appease fans, its realistic to the setting of the game. Its a story of survival and consequence and its true to the dark gritty nature of an apocalyptic world. Expand

My disappointment for the story line that was presented in "The Last of Us Part 2" is immeasurable. This game is missing the soul that was in the original game. There is so much wrong with this game....

But I am emotionally exhausted because of how terrible this plot went. Thanks NaughtyDog. You ruined some amazing characters. To put it in Joel's own words. "There was a sequel.

Utterly depressing. It’s like woke revenge despair porn for western culture. If you play this it not only depresses you but also ruins the first game as well. Do yourself a favour and don’t touch this with a barge pole if you want to still have fond memories of the first game.

I don’t even think it’s a 10, but it sure as hell isn’t a 4.9 just because your expectations were subverted. Naughty Dog once again tells a BRILLIANT story in such a raw, powerful manner. The “twist” at the halfway point may throw you for a loop, but if anything it makes the game BETTER even if it doesn’t cater to fan demands.

Brilliant game. The place we left the first game in was an awkward and uncomfortable one and the feeling between characters carries on that trend. I would not take into account the opinions of the people giving this game a 5 or below out of 10,because they seem struggle to empathise with characters motivations in the game. It is a brilliantly made game with a few bits of fat on it that could be trimmed down. Overall the cut scenes, graphics, story telling and settings are 10/10. Characters feel alive in this world. Gameplay is very much the same as the first game, with a few more added extras but it is noticeably the Last of us gameplay. Overall Brilliant, rivalling all time great games like The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Mass Effect 2 and of course the 1st Last of Us game. Expand

This game is a masterpiece, it doesn't get any better than this. The story gave me a complicated yet rewarding experience. If the Lord gave me a second chance to experience it as if it were the first time, I would do it all over again.

i think this game is amazing!
In my opinion, the story is fantastic! made me feel things that no other game have ever did
the graphics are outstanding! and the gameplay pleased me a lot. It made me feel angry for playing with 'that' character and even made me let her die sometimes just to please my anger (i'm not proud of that), but the game managed to put me in her place and i felt so

It's a story that we all already heard about, but here, it move our feelings in other ways (mine, at least)
it shows us what anger and revenge lead us to do, or lose

The gameplay was far superior than the first one, but the plot is a trash, i dont know who thinks that punch ellie with abby was a good idea, and you are angry the half of the game because you use abby, and nobody wants to empathize with abby, not for being transexual, it is just for being a bad choice. Great ending, it leaves you with a very good feeling, sad i have to say but makes you "understand" why abby did what she did and how for the Ellie´s crusade she lost everything. It was a rain of sensations, sometimes you was sad, others happy. Joel dont die like a hero because he isnt, taking Ellie and killing the doctors was an act of selfishness and thats someting that the game tells you

Most of the user reviews are from liars who didn't actually play the game and want to deprive you of an undoubtedly memorable experience unlike any other video game that's come before. This game is actually fantastic and has been review bombed by entitled brats who think they are owed something. In actuality, this story is deeply nuanced and thematically complex and studies characters from unexpected perspectives that challenge and move you. The gameplay is fast paced and exciting. You are given a wide variety of tools to engage enemies in a multitude of visceral ways, keeping the combat consistently fresh and engaging. Areas and combat encounters are wide with lots of space and potential routes toward progression that make repeat playthroughs distinctively different. Not to mention the unprecedented level of difficulty customisation. The visuals are stunning and the atmosphere is unquestionably "The Last of Us." Ignore the entitled children who cry bad writing, for they fail to look beneath the surface and explore the rich depth woven into the gripping and compelling narrative Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
