    Great graphics and gameplay. Absolutely horrible story writing. The characters and their decision making are unbelievably bad. It's like it was written in a way just to spit in the face of the fans and cause outrage. To be clear I'm not even talking about all the LGBTQ threads that seem almost forced into the narrative, which I don't have an issue with.

At the end of the day the fans are the ones who pay to play and support games and this game does a great disservice to not only them, but the original work. 0/10 because not even the graphics and gameplay can't redeem such a bad storyline.    … Expand

    Pros:
    - very impressive visuals;
    - awesome character animation and performances;
    - satisfying mele combat and stealth;
    - sound design and music;
    - range of accessibility options;

    Cons:
    - the levels feel too big and way too empty, and the exploration feels more like filler and padding to stretch the time than an integral part of the gameplay loop;
    - gunplay and the main gameplay loop, in general, feel dated, not adding much to what we've seen in the first game, and making the later part of the game incredibly drawn out due to the repetitiveness;
    - character models are questionable at times, from the strange proportion of the bodies to some supporting characters looking way too similar;
    - continuation of the previous point - besides looking similar, the new characters are also very 2-dimensional to the point where you don't remember their names after dispatching of them (and the games just ignores them all after their death);
    - MISREPRESENTATION of lgbtq and exploitation tired lgbtq tropes and stereotypes for cheap drama and shock value (i.e. the bisexual character is indecisive between the male and the female love interest; the trans character is all about suffering for being trans)
    - and, finally, the story. shallow, banal revenge plot told in a convoluted mish-mash of flashbacks and flashbacks inside flashbacks, constantly undermining its own message with the gameplay as well as ridiculous amount of offhanded violence with no real gravitas. pre-existing characterizations are changed to serve the new direction, previous events are retconned, all subtlety forgotten.

    all in all, considering the amount of work from simple employees who, no doubt, tried to polish every aspect they could, and the stunning result of their work, i don't think it's fair to go with emotions and give it a 0, but i also don't think the story-driven games with terrible writing and so poorly thought through relationships between the plot and the gameplay deserves anything more than 5.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, today I finished the THE LAST OF US PART II. My anger and disappointment knew no bounds. PLOT!!! No, of course I understand that we need a strong motivational tie, but to kill Joel at the beginning of the game is simply disastrous. And now after his murder we set off to avenge! The plot is based on this.
    We kill almost everyone who killed Joel, and contrary to the majority, I watched with pleasure how Ellie kills them all one by one (besides this, I calmly reacted to the fact that Mel was killed and she didn’t care that she was pregnant). But something happens and at the end of the game we leave Abby alive without killing ourselves. Frankly, I felt anger and DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!! I don't care that Abby suddenly has a boy / girl whom she decided to take care of! Eye for Eye Tooth for Tooth! I would gladly drown her there, for Joel and Jesse without regret.
    What is **** ?? Forgiveness? Good? To hell! I do not believe in it! You go, so go to the end !!!
    Further, the characters are well developed, however, Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW!
    Are you guys serious ?! Homosexual relationships are disgusting and not acceptable! Women belong to men, and men belong to women, period! And call me what you want! Each girl is my potential wife, until it is proved that she has a boyfriend / husband. Yes, I am selfish and you girls my happiness will not give you a lesbian evil!
    Our second main character is Abby. Seriously? I was not saturated with her special emotions. She killed Joel let out of revenge but killed and I wanted her to die the whole game !! And the fact that she saved some kind of seraphite does not change anything. But really, thanks for being at least heterosexual.
    The gameplay has changed little from the first part; it is pretty not bad but outdated. the character’s modifications and improvements are made in such a way that you don’t pump everything in one pass, I personally didn’t really like it. It would be better if for the second passage I would quickly open all of them.
    The graphics are incomparable here everything is super, the music is also beautiful.
    The conclusion is that due to the fact that Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW, the game gets 2/10. For graphics and music.

    All I have yo say is most people negatively reviewing this game are just bitter that the critics reviewed it so highly even tho they didn’t like the leaks and some haven’t even the fineshed the game.
    What I believe is this game is a masterpiece and a emotional rollercoaster which I enjoyed so so much. The ending has a deep meaning to it which most people didn’t get. Must play

    The game's graphics and mechanics are amazing, I haven't encountered many bugs or other things that bother me during the game. Instead, the story of the game is very, very nasty, you are made to play with the enemy just to take more time to make the game last longer. The ending is a very ugly one without logic and that does not ignite any feelings and makes you wonder "what the hell is this".

How they took Joel completely out of character to push an agenda is just shameful. Who would even want to play as a villain that took out a beloved character! I have very little positive to say for this game...the graphics are great that is something, but this game is a story driven game, it could have been in 8 bit graphics and still been a good game IF the story was comparable to the first game!     Such a shame that now these days in movies and video games, they spent more time the cgi, special effects and graphics and not in the story.
    this game is like a brand new Cadillac (graphics, combat skills and locations were amazing), BUT with no engine ( terrible story).

Fake cutscenes were shown in trailers that led up to the game’s release, pretending like the first game’s main protagonist was present for the entire game’s story. In reality he dies in the first chapter. This game has such an obvious political agenda that it gets in the way of enjoying the story. Constantly you are reminded that the game’s director is obviously involved in politics. Although I don’t neccessarily disagree with his agenda, a videogame/movie should never become a medium to indoctrinate your audience with certain points and views. I’ll think twice before I give another cent to companies like this. So here you go a 0/10 because if you can deceive fans with a perfect score through other means, than it is my task to fight these things.… Expand

But, that doesn't mean that the character we LOVE gets this outcome. Give us the chance to decide our fate whether we want to spare or kill Abby! If you really don't want us to kill her then come to a fruitful conclusion. This game didn't hit me in my feels! it made me sad in a bad way! it tormented me how awful the ending was! Ellie got to spare her and also lost two fingers! What do you mean!!! are you telling me she can't even play the song Joel taught her to play "If I ever were to lose you". Even I tried to play the song without two fingers AND IT FREAKING HURTS to know she won't be able to play it properly! And Dina abandons her. We are left with Ellie living the rest of her life ALONE! Without Joel, Dina, Jesse, and most likely Tommy as well!

    Again, It hurts me to say the story is a masterpiece but not for the character Joel and Ellie! I'm disappointed with NaughtyDog. Just at least make things good for Ellie. It is a video game, so, make the players feel positive about the story! Joel and Ellie didn't deserve the outcome! Everything went sad, lonely, depressing. And it made me even sad in this Covid-19 situation!

    I loved the environment, went to every place I could go to explore! I wanted the story to never end and to go where it was going! The game is gorgeous no doubt!

    But man, This LGBTQ thing that has been going on in video games! Please STOP FORCING us to believe this movement! No doubt it is a good cause but IT DOESNT GO WELL IN STORYTELLING GAMES! What's next now? TLOU: the legacy of George Floid? Don't include these things in video games! These movements are earned through hardship NOT by forcing the players to believe it!

Ive been looking at reviews lately specifically at the last of us 2 and its astounding to me how apparent it becomes after finishing the game that most people review bombing this game havent played the game or watched it. Dont get me wrong this game is flawed but just when I read other peoples reviews they fail to go into depth with what the game is flawed in, so Im here to do exactly that and review the positives as well. I will try and be as unbiased as possible but this is still my personal opinion.

    I would like to start off with talking about how the game looks. To me its one of the most gorgeous looking games out there and I personally think that its the most realistic looking one as well, at least for console games. Theres so many litte details everywhere things are placed in certain areas that really didnt need to be there but the devs went the extra mile with detail for this game. This gives the game a good amount of points although I do have some issues with the environment but that goes more into level design.

    Now lets talk about the level design and combat
    Sometimes I think its magnificent especialy early game! You have these great huge arenas to stealthily move around or to engage in huge firefigts with. The game wants you to get creative with the ways you take out enemies. Sometimes they'll plant infected in certain areas for you to lure them out. It gives you a ton of tools and lets you do what you please with them. Now for the combat there isnt much new to it besides being able to dodge and crawl but they expand on this to the best of their ability and its absolutely stellar for the most part. Now there are some areas of this game especially later on that begin to feel the same as all the others and with a 20+ hour game they start to run out of things to innovate on. I found myself growing tiresome of the combat later on in the game just because of how repetitive it became. This is an issue. Another issue that I ended up having with the level design of the game is that there can be to much fluff. The game begs you to go from one area to another and follow the characters all the way which can be great for putting you into the shoes of the character however this also adds certain segments of the game that could've just been cut entirely to make the game far less repetitive and more enjoyable. Another issue is that some areas can look climbable but in reality are not and can be largely misleading. Sometimes I felt the design didnt do a good job at guiding you where to go.

    Now lets talk about the infamous story mode Ill try not to get into to much spoiler territory but be warned for minor ones
    To me its deeply flawed but not for the same reasons people are saying. Ive noticed a lot of people saying that this game caters to much to the lgbt community and sjws because of the lesbianism and the fact that everyone thought Abby was a trans gender even though shes not. In reality this isnt even a proper critique of the game, I would say that if Abby was a trans and the game attempted to say that its ok to be trans and its ok to kill straight white men then yes it would be a proper critique but the game doesnt do any of this. There are 2 gay characters in the game and the game doesnt even have enough depth to explain why theyre gay! This is my biggest critique of the games story is that it lacks character depth. We see our characters find friends and families but at time the game seems to believe that the only way to develop a character is to make them somehow more charismatic when there not engaged with violence. It lacks a good amount of depth for most of the side characters. Even with Ellie its not clear as to why she latched on to her girlfriend and her ex. Now onto the actualy story and its themes. Something I actually liked about the game was its themes about revenge. Ive seen many people critique the themes for being to simplistic but does making themes of a game more complex really make the themes better? I think its how they choose to achieve these themes. I think the idea of making you kill certain characters and then putting you into the shoes of the friends of those said characters is an excellent way to cause guilt and empathy for these characters. Its very harsh and thats what I think a lot of people on here dislike about the game. They complain about the game being to sensitive and catering to the lgbt community and then complain about its insensitivity in killing a certain character. Its a bit hypocritical if you ask me. On to my next critique of the story. The lack of pacing that this game has can make it feel nauseating. I thought the game would end 3 hours earlier then it really did and at that point I was hoping for it. If theres one thing this game knows how to do its dragging. Now Im running low on characters but I didnt think that the story was god awful. It was a let down for sure but put this with the other pros and this can be a solid game that overstays its welcome    … Expand

I was really disappointed when the leaks came out and even more disheartened by Naughty Dog and Sony's action in dealing with those leaks. But, I still wanted to give the game a chance and see it in its entirety for myself.

    PROS: 1. The graphics is top-notch. 2. The cutscenes and    I've been waiting for this since part 1. Was so excited when they revealed the trailers and everything. I was really disappointed when the leaks came out and even more disheartened by Naughty Dog and Sony's action in dealing with those leaks. But, I still wanted to give the game a chance and see it in its entirety for myself.

    PROS:
    1. The graphics is top-notch.
    2. The cutscenes and voice acting is really good.
    3. The gameplay, though not really anything new or innovative, was still solid.

    CONS:
    1. The story and its direction.
    2. The characters and how they were portrait or lack there of.
    3. The story plot of revenge doesn't make any sense at the end.
    4. The entire setup and ending from part 1 was destroyed and disregarded in the first few hours.
    5. Everything in the trailers were a misrepresentation of the game.
    6. This game was more like a movie than a video game.

    Overall, I did not enjoy the game. The story, it's direction, its pace and the direction of its characters were not enjoyable. The creator of the game said, there's no "fun" in this. And they were right. This game is not fun to play.    … Expand

I'll first state this, the graphics were a 10/10 and the gameplay was an 8/10, however the story ruined the game. After Joel died I gave the game the benefit of the doubt. Yes, everyone including me was very upset about the death of Joel. However it could've been done right, but it was porly executed. I enjoyed the story though until the last half of the game. When I realized I had to play 10+ hours as the most unlikable character ever, Abby. I almost quit playing. I kept if they am playing though to see if Ellie gets revenge. Only to find out the ending gave Abby the happy ending and left Ellie alone and her life meaningless. I give the story a 3/10. I will never pick up this game again and now in my mind the only thing cannon about the last of us part II is the last of us' secret epilogue that they put in at the beginning of this game. I am not going to play the last of us part III if they make one either because clearly they are setting it up to star Abby. Very disappointed. Not worth $60.… Expand

    Plot aside this game did not earn anything. It felt forced and even though the last of us one was pretty much designed the same way it didn’t feel as controlled as this I think everyone should give it a try for their own reasons but I can’t rate this game any higher.

    this game has a poor story. I expected more, maybe not much as the first release but definitely more than this trash. I think all the 10/10 are paid because no one who played the first game would like this. I'll be back to play gta V afrer this

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First thing I'm not a bot, I LOVE Naughty Dog, and the LOU 1 is my fav game. I stayed away from the spoilers and played for myself. That being said I hate this game! I hated almost all of this game.

    Everyone is talking about how bad the story is (it is) but what I'm not hearing is how unnecessarily LONG & repetitive it is. I'm not complaining that it's long I like long games but with this, for me there's just no joy after clearing a level feeling like its done then having to do it ALL over again with a different background. It was non stop the same **** over, and over, and over, and over without any payoff. The first game gave us some kind of "hope" at the end of each level or chapter with the second I found myself wanting to quit because I didn't care at all about what was happening and who it was happening to. I hate this game. The only reason I played all the way though was to see how bad the ending would be, and it didn't disappoint.

    I didn't mind Joel dying, in fact I thought that would have to happen, I mean why else would Elle want to "kill them all"? They way they killed him makes zero sense, the fact the people that did it kept those Ellie & Tommy alive makes no sense. Crazy thing is that I was all fine and dandy to go along with it because I trust the people who made some of my fav games that they'd make this all make sense to me. Spoiler they don't.

    Its just awful playing this game when you know about 10 hours into just killing about 5000 one of three different ways that you still have 15-20 more hours of this ****.

    The graphics are amazing! But I don't play games because of great graphics. The Abby and Lev story was the best part of the game for me, The sky bridge part was freaking AWESOME to play in the game. Problem though I **** HATED ABBY! Thats not gonna change and didn't even after seeing her side of things. She kills a man we love with a golf club, enjoys killing "scabs", pushes away a man that lovers her only to have sex with him after he's with another women who's present with said guys kid, when she's going to kill Dana she finds out she's pregnant and with a knife to her says "good" with almost a smile on her face before Lev stops her. Why should I care about this person. Every time she died when I was playing I enjoyed it, I even let Ellie kill her 4 times in the theater.    … Expand

TLOU2 gets 1 point for graphics and score; it loses 9 points because this game absolutely craps all over the first game and its protagonists and force-feeds you a story and a character that you neither want nor care about. Its main point/theme is supposedly that "revenge is bad" and yet it fails miserably at making that point, given that:
    a) As Ellie, you kill hundreds of human beings in your quest for revenge against Abby for killing Joel, then suddenly Ellie decides to give up on that because she daydreams about Joel playing guitar (?!?!?). You literally kill with abandon to reach your goal, and then have nothing to show for it but the loss of two fingers, preventing Ellie from ever playing guitar again and leaving her alone, with nobody. So Ellie *doesn't* exact her revenge, and in the end, she still winds up alone and disabled.
    b) Abby successfully *does* get her revenge by killing Joel early in the game in front of Ellie, and ultimately suffers no real, lasting consequences from it. She basically "wins" and gets to sail off into the sunset.
    Seriously, this game is a big "FU" from Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog to the first game and all of the fans that loved the dynamic between Joel and Ellie. It's like a bad fanfiction from someone who hated the first game, come to life. The first TLOU is a masterpiece that is one of my favorite games ever made, and this game is, to put it frankly, a dumpster fire. I will never consider this game as canon.    … Expand

As much as I admire the character of Joel, I understand the decision to use his past against him in order to provide a motive for Ellie's revenge; just not the way he did. We as a fan base didn't deserve that, and Joel and Ellie did not deserve that as characters. I hated everyone in this game. They're all depressing. The world is grim. Joel's a cuck. His brother is the tough guy, who, btw, gets **** in this game. Joel forgets all his street cred. **** you Joel. He's nothing but a bully, no heart in this game. No depth. So uninteresting. The only GOOD part in the game, personally, was the flashback of Ellies birthday, around the same age that was from the first game. I'll admit it, I ****ing cried during that scene where she pretended to go to space. I felt so bad for Ellie. She's such a innocent character, she deserves so much more than what she ends up with. I hated her in this game. She grew up to resent the world she so desperately wanted to save. That birthday scene, it reminded me so much of the first game, so I thought, why if it is evident that the quality of the first game can be reflected, what the **** is this? I mean, you can't even kill Abby? What the ****s her name? Abbi? What the **** You kill all these people, waste all these lives, Jesse died for you Ellie, what?     Вывод: это 25 часовое изнасилование над вашим интеллектом и самооценкой. Двадцать пять часов идиоты, что сделали эту игру, пытаются вам доказать, что идиот именно вы. Школьники на reddit написали бы сценарий гораздо лучше, чем нынешние дармоеды из Naughty Dog.

    Poor history needed more truth for the final dissapointed to say no more but Instead, the punishingly bleak sequel kills off the original's main character and turns the secondary hero into a villain. It takes violence to a level that is uncomfortable even by the standards of video games, and seemingly does everything in its power to make gamers feel bad about the act of playing it.

This game should be one of the best games of the PS4’s lifetime to ever release, unfortunately, it’s left me with lingering bitter taste for me to ponder on. While at many moments I will admit I do feel immersed into the game and I feel the character’s— be it Ellie or Abby— emotions and understand their convictions. This game tried and failed to compare the two characters of Joel, and strangely, Abby. Her relationship with the scars child Lev mimics that of the relationship and travels done in the first game as Joel and Ellie. Abby kills anyone in her way to take care of Lev and Yara, even in the end betraying her own people. At times you can almost see a semblance of remorse that she may feel, like when invading the scars’ island, but it is executed in an utterly terrible way. Abby even mimics Joel in the way her character plays gameplay wise, having a similar move set using her bare hands to pummel zombies, and being more stiff and rigid than Ellie, to even the return of shivs in gameplay albeit with a new slight twist. I very much so want to like this game which is why it leaves me with such a bitter conflicted feeling in the end as it simply doesn’t live up to the first entry in any meaningful way except for the improvements to the engine, graphics, and gameplay, although too little in terms of change in my opinion. I’d give this game a 3/10 simply because of the graphics, the fighting animations, and set pieces. It’s that golden pile of crap from American Dad, looks beautiful sure, but it’s still a pile of **** at the end of the day.… Expand

O jogo te prende, te faz se importar com os personagens em tela, e vc se torna cumplice deles até o fim do jogo. Infelizmente, TLoU 2 pega tudo isso é joga fora. Não reclamo da morte de Joel, mas o modo como ela acontece é ridícula. Quantas vezes Joel pediu para ellie tomar cuidado com estranhos no primeiro jogo? Mas aí, ele acaba de conhecer uma estranha, em pleno território "inimigo" é já sai falando o nome e onde mora. Puro amadorismo de alguém que foi chamado de louco, matando com sagacidade hordas de inimigos no game anterior. E assim o jogo segue. Vc controla o personagem matando geral, mas então o jogo toma controle e seu personagem que a pouco matou inimigos com a mão sem a necessidade de dar um tiro, começa a cometer erros bobos. Tudo pro roteiro seguir por onde eles querem. Não bastasse isso, nós abrigam a jogar com a algoz, numa tentativa de simpatizar com ela. Se fosse outro jogo, tudo bem, seria interessante ver esse lado da história, mas novamente esse é o 2. Como, após passar por todos aqueles momentos com ellie e joel, eu poderia me simpatizar com alguém que o matou,ou melhor,v s seriam capazes de "entender o lado de alguém que acabou de matar seu pai e sua mãe? Pq é isso que o jogo faz, tenta nos fazer simpatizar com ela para que no final a ellie a perdoe, e fim... a ellie tem que perdoar pq o jogo tenta mostrar que vingança não é boa.     Сюжет отличный и лихо закрученный. Игра будто несколько раз вот уже заканчиваются и ждёшь титров, а она неожиданно раз и продолжается. Откуда хейт и недовольство западных игроков понять не могу. Лесбийская тема вообще на минималках, в тех же Ходячих мертвецах (сериале) геев и лесби было побольше и никто вроде не возмущался и не морщился.

    Спорные сюжетные ходы и гибель многих персонажей - так это привет опять же Ходячим мертвецам - эталону в зомби-жанре. Геймплей стал бодрый и разнообразный, новые механики интересные, хотя и не всегда обязательные. Стелс пожалуй лучший, что был в играх. Кодзима обзавидуется. Таких бы врагов и их поведение в МГС 5.

    Месть вообще очень прекрасная штука и чаше всего произведения её романтизируют. Око за око, вендета и всё такое. В Ласт оф ас 2 авторы нам показывают, как они уже сами анонсировали - последствие мести. Нам дают взглянуть на историю под разными углами, подглядеть её с разных сторон и это прекрасно. Здравый человек знает, что нет однозначно белого и чёрного. Нет хорошего и плохого человека. Всё относительно. У всего есть своё начало и свой конец.

    Иногда мне финал игр не нравится. Так было со скомканными финалами в Алан Вейке и последнем Деус Эксе. Хотя игры эти я считаю одними из лучших, но финал всё равно смущает.

    Финал Ласт оф ас 2 вполне законченный. Кстати, очень надеюсь если решат делать третью часть, то оставят эту же вселенную и расскажут историю совсем других персонажей. Истории персонажей второй части я считаю завершены.    … Expand

It's disappointing that fans of the first game wait years and years to get their favorite character killed in the first hour - i'm assuming eliminating any chance of getting to play him ( beyond riding his horse from point a to point b ). I get that it's shocking but I don't want to just play as Ellie - I also wanted to play as Joel. Add a spoonful of agenda and the story just feels distant from the first. Game is beautiful.     There were many ways for naughty dog to tell a good story for lou2 but they didn't. They focused on topics a lou1 fan would not understand. Just saying i'm totally cool with the lgbt community and my    Last of us 2 is perfect in Performance and appearance...the story is a 2/10.
    I like the idea that lgbt topics are equivalent to others but this is a Game about Zombies, not about sexuality.

The first title has a story about humanity fighting against infected zombies...you try to save the world by inventing a vaccine...
    In lou2 that isn't even part of their idea...every controversy decision made in lou1 is not really important...it's more about shocking you and tell stories about people i do not care about...
    Naughty dog has gone from masterpiece to an ok game 5/10 if you don't know lou1... 2/10 if you do...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have no idea what Druckmann has against Joel but he needs to figure his problem out. Joel did not deserve to die in the way he Did. I'm not against the idea of Joel dying but it is not necessary to have it so violent. He is the loved protagonist from the past game and to have him killed in such a way is terrible. Also to have Ellie not kill Abby in the end is it terrible ending. After having Ellie kill all of these people just to get revenge and not get it is the worst kind of ending. It's like Thanos did all of his atrocities to get the stones and in the end not snap because he didnt feel like it. I loved TLOU 1 and that game is one of my favorites when it comes to the lore of the world and the zombie virus. I hope that the story ends here so Druckmann cant ruin another franchise even more.… Expand

    It seems to be a common sport of todays writers to let the reader/player/viewer suffer instead of letting them enjoy the experience.

    Won't play it again, really boring and confusing story time line, I really regret by buying this game.

    Loved the game, and Story is really good, graphics are awesome, gameplay can get intensive.. I can't give a 9.5, so I gave a 10. The game story needs a couple tweaks to smooth it out, but otherwise makes sense. The ending, you have to be a psychologically deep person to understand and not just an emotional reactionist child.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
