Mechanics wise the same as you'd expect from the first game. No complaints there. Though none of us are playing TLOU for the gameplay, we are here for the story. And the way a major character was killed and the obviously low skilled emotional manipulation involved absolutely destroys this game's value.

Los gráficos las mecánicas del juego me gustaron mucho la historia también hasta cierto punto donde te sientes obligado a sentir lástima por quien se supone es tu enemigo, lo que te deja un gusto de un viaje sin sentido :/

Minor pacing issues, still a great game overall. Pretty much comes down to the question if you can accept Abby as a playable character. If not, the game pretty much falls apart. I´m happy I enjoyed her side of the story.

Our long waited game unfortunately ruined with this story. You feel distant from all the characters at the end of the game. Also, it has been false advertised. If I would know that I play as Abby, I wouldn’t buy it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here's why, to me, this game is a masterpiece and even better than the first part in some ways :
First thing first, people got overcarried by the hate coming from the leaks, which were out of context. Now that the game is out and we have proper context to look into it all, it's obvious the writers knew perfectly what they were doing all along and it feels like a really well planned story. But of course some of those youtubers/influencers/whatever are just looking for easy views and bucks, and right now it means hating the game and follow what started with the leaks. You can disagree with the story of course, but not to the extent of sending death threats to the writers, or the actors. That's just wrong and childish, period. No one back then had proper context to judge the game.
Firstly, to me, the game honors Ellie and Joel bonds deeply : you can feel Joel's presence all the way during the first half of the game, and seeing how Ellie does take care of a whole militia brings back memories of how Joel would have done it. She has the same moves. She has the same way (and of course, you do as a player) of wiping enemies. At one point during the game Dina says to Ellie "where did you learn how to do that ?" and she answers "Joel taught me". This is a testimony of how Joel affected Ellie, and yourself as a player. The flashbacks are here to remind you constantly of that special bond. It culminates when Ellie tries to do the same map trick Joel taught her, but it backfires on her, because she's not him. And Ellie's own failures end up in killing a pregnant woman. That's why she hates Abby so much (who seems to be successful and invicible to Ellie at that point of the game - but of course she isn't given how she loses everything and how she ends up enslaved).
Secondly, people can't stand the fact Joel died. But Joel made that terrible choice at the end of the first game of saving Ellie at all costs. He put this on himself. And he then got soft because of the safety provided by Jacksonville and because of the redemption he found with having Ellie. You can feel it all the way during the prologue. They ALL got careless, forgetting how dangerous the world can be. There are tons of details for it : the reports on how many infected they killed during patrols (filled with smileys and jokes, even Joels after a while), the way they bring people in Jacksonville, Joels house (when you visit it, you can feel the guy has turned soft because he has Ellie in his life and he found redemption : he has an artistic soul again, given how much time he's been spending carving wood and playing guitar - things that felt meaningless to him in the first part - I couldn't believe Joel has such a sensitive soul inside given how he had to hide it all after what happened to his daughter and what he had to do to survive during those 20 years. But of course he had to switch off that survivor mentality for it).
Now about Abby (who also plays as a Moby Dick for Ellie until the end). First, the thing her dad says when he tells her he would do just as Joel to save her even if her death would prevent humanity for getting a cure was a way to tell her we all have flaws, and so does she as she was blinded by hate for Joel. Then, the game takes a huge turn when Lev and Yara come around, it takes a whole different step because ultimately, as she says, she chooses their side over the Wolves or the Scars. That's the defining moment (on the island) when I started really caring about Abby. What matters most is the individuals, not the group logic and systemic way of dealing with things (rings any bells to how people flamed this game despite having played it or explored it enough ?). You have to look into individuals and not judge them depending on which group they're a part of (and btw, Ellie comes to the same conclusion when she writes in her diary while in Santa Barbara : "Fireflies, Scars, Wolves... f*** them all" ; she's on the same mental process as Abby, Abby just being ahead a bit). That's a wonderful character development and morale. And btw : Abby DOES show remorse and is tortured by what she did. The nightmares didn't go away with Joel's death. And Laura Bailey plays it perfectly when she kills Joel : she has seconds of hesitation and you can feel her vulnerability. Of course she's too consumed by it to show it directly. And I like to think Yara and Lev is a way for her to find purpose again and to redeem for what she did.
The game doesn't give you anything easy and you actually have to dig deep into it to get your answers. You have to read diary logs, you have to listen to all of the conversations, you have to look into the environment to get it all. It doesn't treat you like a 5 years old, spoonfeeding you easy answers to make you feel better. I've never seen a game this detailed and well carved. I've never seen a game making me think over and over things, and to think about how we react as human beings.

This game is...the most affected i have been by a games story since...maybe ever. The way the narrative rises and falls in a cyclical motion mirroring the cycles of hate and more importantly forgiveness present with its characters. I can understand why some people may not enjoy this game the entire way through, but personally i don't think that's the point.

You are supposed to hate certain characters and certain moments and the beauty of the game is that it tests your ability to forgive in those situations. The game itself is almost a social experiment, testing how far you would go and wether or not you can learn to empathize with others despite possible wrongdoings.

Not to mention this game's combat mechanics are top notch, and the graphics may be the best I've seen to date. Every character here feels realized wether they spend much time with you or not. The level designs are varied and interesting, and the new weapon customizations are awesome.

If you have been paying attention to these scores for users they have gone up from a 3 to a 5 now that more people have actually beaten the game and seen the story play out. It's not an easy game to get through, it's emotionally draining at times. But for those who can handle the intense violence and complex themes the world of The Last of Us has to offer, this game is a MUST play. Game of the year 2020 right here.

The game does not improve on the gameplay department. 7 years later and we got a story that tries to make you feel bad for not supporting lesbian/trans. it tries too hard to push that agenda. A big disappointment for those of us that waited all these years expecting an improvement but instead we got a game that we wish would have been fine to never have been made in the first place. Amazing game with a great story, The gameplay did not really change from uncharted 4, its the sme type of hide and seek combat, but on higher difficulties it's a real blast to play, because you actually have to use all these gears and navigate trough the map. The graphics are amazing of course, i feel like i dont even have to say this at this point. From a technical standpoint, it's objectively one of the best games ever made. Now, the Story is much more subjective, but honestly, I really enjoyed it.

    SPOILERS
Ellies and Abby's story are two acts of the same path told with two different characters and I think it's a great idea well executed. Ellie's is a story of misguided anger and blind vengance. When we switch to Abby's perspective, her revenge is over and we see that she is still not satisfied and her friends give her **** about the brutal killing of Joel. Her side is a story about redemption and it heavily paralels Joels journey from the first game. I disagree with the common argument that Joel's death was shock value. That would mean that it meant nothing, but that is just simply not true. Its a vital part of both characters journey and serves as the catalyst of the story.

A lot of people say that the order of events is poorly constructed and we should've seen Abby's side before she kills Joel, but in my opinion that wouldnt work, because for the first part of the game to work we have to feel the same blind anger that ellie feels.
At first I was really annoyed that I have to play as Abby, but they managed to humanize her enough for me to like her.

I cannot imagine Naughty Dog getting one more ounce than they got out of the PS4 and the game looks absolutely gorgeous. This is not a story with your run of the mill happy endings and at times it can be very grim, sometimes pulling your feels right out from underneath you, and you cannot help but feel exactly what Neil Druckmann and the rest of the team want you to feel. This level of story telling has never been seen in any other franchise and Naughty Dog definitely did not hold any punches in The Last of Us Part II. You care about the characters and you feel for them and the relationships as you have become invested since the first game.

The game play mechanics are no slouch either as they just have such a high degree of polish and you really feel empowered to handle situations however you please. After beating the game on the highest difficulty for my first playthrough, I will admit this game tests you problem solving skills and your patience. The dogs in certain parts are no joke! The game is all around impressive and really sets the standard for the industry competing with only games like God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2. It is really a work of art and tugs at your heart strings throughout its entirety. While I do not feel as though it deserves anything less than a 9.5 and I truly believe God of War is my only 10/10 this generation, I feel obligated to give this game a 10/10 as well because of the detail and Naughty Dog's ability to deliver on a level of story telling that you just do not hardly see. The Last of Us Part II is the perfect mixture of telling an extraordinarily compelling story that is unpredictable and extremely polished gameplay that makes you feel so dangerous. I don't really subscribe to the accolade of "Game of the Year", because I feel games are so unique that they should not be leveraged against one another. However, I would definitely have to pick the Last of Us Part II if I had to pick a 2020 Game of the Year or 2020 Must Play Game. Truly a work of art!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLoU2 improves on every aspect of its predecessor. Even though I love Joel and Ellie, ND successfully got me to empathize with Abby on a deep level. You feel for both sets of characters. You understand their motivations. While the overall theme of the game is an old one, it is delivered well. Revenge is a dish best served cold, and you feel that chill in Ellie; right up until the very end when she has lost everything. I even found myself almost rooting for Abby in the fight against Ellie in the theater. You play as Ellie, who was spared, slaughtering countless WLF on your path to revenge. It takes a particular mind to not stop and say "this seems like an unmeasured response." Gameplay-wise the game has improved by leaps and bounds. The upgrades are more fleshed out, combat is more visceral an intense. The enemies are far more varied as well. If you see larger human-type enemies, it usually takes more bullets or brute force to take them down; as it should. One small feature I enjoyed were the segments when you had to use ropes. It's a small thing, but it was neat. The open level design at the beginning of Seattle was perfect. I really cant rave enough about this game. For those who loved the original and are disappointed with the change of characters, I would point you to MGS2. People HATED Raiden when the game first dropped. Years later, its regarded as a masterpiece. The games are very different, but the use of changing characters as a gameplay element and plot device is largely the same. Keep an open mind and try to empathize with Abby, as well as her and Ellie's motivations and intentions and I bet in no time you will realize the true depth of this game. Expand

I avoided spoilers completely for the game, I don't know how I did that because I'm online constantly but somehow I didn't. Anyway people are made because their favorite character (my favorite too) was killed which regardless of what they say he deserved it in Abbys eyes. You see why later and then they didn't want to play as Abby which wasn't an actual problem and she had some of the best parts in the game. Definetly not a masterpiece. As a sequel: it sucks.
Everyone compare it to TLOU1, but i didn't see comparison with Uncharted 4.
Especially with graphics and physics. It's just an reskin. Beyond that: gameplay is slightly tweaked from Part1 and it's good, because it was good already. Uncharted is more about gameplay, but TLOU is not Uncharted - here the story matters. And it sucks.

It's not about hate. It's about Neil Druckman's hate, especially for Joel. It isn't Ellie's hate. It's all about him.
This game is about Neil Druckman. And Neil is forcing you to feel that hate, especially in second part - when you're forced to play as Abby. You hear Ellie, you see Ellie. All you want to do is to loose. To let her win. But you can't. All you can do is to play and feel terrible and it's getting worse and worse.
I've even don't remember when i hated negative character THAT MUCH like Abby. Yupe, it's still an negative character. ND shows her motives, but i don't care (and it sux also) - it's just an bad and ugly negative character.
It'll be quite ok for a standalone or a spinoff. But as for an sequel? It's not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The Last of Us Part II, is an amazing sequel, but it doesn't top the elegance and tightness of the first game.
While the gameplay has improved greatly, game world got bigger, the story is way more fleshed out and writing is intricate and plays well off of the main elements in the first game, it wasn't quite as enjoyable.

I commend Naughty Dog for their brave writing decisions, but this very ambitious game just lost some of the magic that was in the The Last of Us.
Also something I haven't seen being pointed out, I encountered many glitches during my playthrough, mostly with melee combat, which feels more real and has more impact this time around, but the sudden tone down of the "enemy magnet" made me punch the air several times, because I'm used to my attacks getting connected with the enemies automatically.

This is not even a review.. is actually a way to understand why ND went on this risky path with the story.

One of the most important parts is that easily ND could have milked Joel as a character until TLOU 10 when he is 100 years old and still fightning the infected but they had the balls to go all in and give us a really powerful reason to find Abby and everyone involved in Joel's

I love Joel as a character and I was heartbroken when I saw that scene ( I wasn't spoiled ) but when you are like 70 or 80% into the game you can finally see the bigger picture and everything just clicks into place.

I respect the people who didn't like the risky path ND used to tell this story but nobody can deny that they had to balls to do it and deliver an experience of a lifetime. That last scene just gets me everytime.. I love Joel and Ellie together.

This game can really make you feel things whent you are playing it.. the pacing of course could be better on a few parts but overall this game is a huge achievement on the technical and the story telling level.

    This game is a masterpiece.

The story is what matters, and the story is a DISASTER
    Characters contraddict themselves
    Characters make nonsensical choices
    Plot holes upon plot holes
Add the terrible behavior of Naughty Dog regarding reviews and people talking about the game, and you have one of the most disasterful releases of our generation.

I would give this game a 10, but it's just not a 10. It does quite a few things wrong where I would put it in an 8.5-9 range. First of all, this game makes a lot of bold decisions, and it's because of these bold decisions why the user rating is so low, HOWEVER, I think some of these decisions were necessary for the game to work. Naughty Dog took a huge risk and I think it mostly paid off.I would give this game a 10, but it's just not a 10. It does quite a few things wrong where I would put it in an 8.5-9 range. First of all, this game makes a lot of bold decisions, and it's because of these bold decisions why the user rating is so low, HOWEVER, I think some of these decisions were necessary for the game to work. Naughty Dog took a huge risk and I think it mostly paid off. Unlike most people, I grew to love all of the characters and understood why they made the decisions that they did. I hated some characters at first, (some may know who I'm talking about) but put myself in their shoes and asked myself "What would I do?" and I always came to the exact same conclusion. I would do the exact same thing they did.

The gameplay is the exact same as the first one, so if you liked the first game's gameplay, you'll like this one as it's a bit more enhanced and intense. If the game is too easy (like most reviewers say it is) I advise you turn the difficulty up. There are SO many accessibility options that NO one ever talks about. This game is insane with how much you can customize and look in to the options.

I don't need to talk about graphics. Stunning. Best graphics I've ever seen on any console, ever.

But the story. This story will only reach a few many. I can't advise everyone to buy this game, cause there is no 50/50 chance you will love or hate this game. I simply can't say it. Based on the reviews that I've seen here on metacritic. There is a 25% chance you will love this game, and a 75% chance you will hate it. And that's mainly because of the bold decision they take right at the beginning of the game. But if you have the balls to get through that, and not turn off your ps4 or uninstall the game, you will go through the rest of the game and see that it's not all that bad. You'll get the CONTEXT needed and by the 2nd half of the game, if you still don't sympathize with one of the main characters, than there's a good chance you just can't/ won't see what the game is trying to do. That is where I believe Naughty Dog kind of failed, and why I'd give this game an 8.5. That, coupled with the BIG scene at the beginning of the game that should've gone down differently. Luckily for me though, I saw where Naughty Dog was going with this story.

A lot of people may write this story off as some stupid revenge story, but it's much more than that, it's a revenge plot that does something different that I've seen very little people seem to notice. It's infuriating to me, but if you haven't bought the game yet I suggest you give it a try. Don't listen to the crap reviews.

Notice how the positive reviews are going up more than the negative reviews each and every day because more and more people are PLAYING through the whole game, and understanding it for what it actually is. That's all I'm going to say.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a good game based on gameplay and setting no doubt about it. The problem I have with it is the characters feeling bland. Biggest let down about the game is FORCING us to play as Abby when we really don't want to. I get that we are supposed to get an open mind about other peoples situations and what not. But when it starts of with her brutally torturing and murder Joel right in front of Ellie I really don't care about her past and reasons. All I wanted to do throughout the entire Abby part was to just let her die. The replay value of the game sinks to rock bottom when you know you have to spend hours playing as a character you despise.

Don't get me wrong, the game-play with her and her story in general is superb but when you truly hate the character it feels awful playing with her. Had the game been structured differently it could truly have been a masterpiece like the first game but as it stands now, just no. Anyone giving this 10/10 can't possibly have played the first game or they have been payed to rate it...

I found that this game was a perfect blend of action and tension. Its a great game for the fans of stealth action. So many improvements have been made to the stealth gameplay from the first game. The new stealth doesn't make you invisible though, and still adds to the tension of the game. The last of us 2 still keeps you somewhat grounded in the game, and keeps you on your toes all the time. As for the story, it was a bit muddled in terms of pacing, but still had enough of an impact on the player to invoke a little thought. Aside from the common complaints of this game, it is actually brilliant.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good graphics and game play. The story is just sad. They kill off Joel, Ellie becomes a tormented soul who loses everything, and the only redeeming quality comes from Abby, Joel's killer. What's worse is that you have no choice in the matter to show mercy at any point in the game. You are forced to kill.
Then there is actual sex in the game, along with drug use, you see a pregnant woman get killed and your dog. If they had a good story, this game would have been great. It doesn't. It's like Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull or the Star wars sequels or the last few episodes of Game of Thrones where characters turn bad for no reason at all.. There are several times when you think the game is going to fix things, but they only make it worse. The story was what made the Original Last of Us Epic. Buy this game when it goes on sale. The game play was fun, but the story was like it was made for 2020! We wanted a good game, we ended up getting a tragedy that disappoints and is depressing. It makes playing the whole first game pointless. All of the turnover at Naughty Dog explains why we got this crap. They really emphasize gay and trans characters, to the point that they really want to use it as a main plot line, and a built in excuse that anyone that doesn't like the story they can say well they are just bigots and homophobes. The truth is they have a depressing story that everyone hates, whether you are gay, trans, or straight. Ugh! If this is the future of gaming, then the gaming future is doomed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is the main selling point of this franchise for me. I have finished the 1st game once on ps3 and at least 3 times on ps4. The story and writing of part 1 was so engaging that the narrative was enough to make you push forward through the game. If it was another game, or a similar game with a weak story, this gameplay would bore you enough yo drop the controller and stop playing. This was my main problem with part 2. It bothered me that they killed Joel during the first few hours of the game; although it was effective enough to motivate me in hunting down the perps, the developer decided to interrupt that momentum and had me play as Joel’s killer. Her story, background and supporting characters just did not resonate with me. I was bored while playing as her. The gameplay’s flaws stick out like a sore thumb and I was very close to not finishing the game. I did eventually, and was let down. The only good parts of the game were still whenever Joel and Ellie were together on the screen. The flashbacks of them brought smiles to my face and the last talk between the 2 of them was heart wrenching. I felt more for a few minutes of these flashbacks compared to 10 or so hours playing as Abby. Not to discount the time and talent spent on the game, it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything on the technical side was next to nothing. The little details really make it a Naughty Dog game, but sadly, for me at least, the story and narrative did not deliver. Expand

I have nothing against LGBT, but why kill off Joel? Yeah, he wasn't a good person, but can you at least show some respect?
And for what our beloved Joel was killed? For having a new bland character, that authors force you to play as for half of the game and force you to feel bad for her.
    You know what?
    I. DON'T. GIVE. A. FLIP.
Abby is a goddamn nobody, who killed Joel. The hell we supposed to feel bad for her?
Also, what was the point of adding LGBT if you never use it? Yeah, why explore the relationship between Ellie and Dina, when we can have the "dark and edgy" revenge plot?
You know, The Last Of Us is a franchise based on a story, not the gameplay. Without the story, this game costs nothing. Oh and the game is just boring.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm going to say it and nobody is going to like it, this game got bandwagoned by a bunch of 12 year olds who didn't play the game and people who are genuinely angry about LGBT representation in the game. That being said, the beginning of the game made me believe that this is going to be one of the biggest letdowns in the history of gaming, such a beloved game having a bad sequel. I wouldn't blame someone for tossing out the game based purely on the beginning alone, with a combination of bad writing, pointless political agendas, unrealistic situations, killing such a loved character for what just seemed like shock value, (and still somewhat does) I really didn't want to play the game, but I played it because I wanted to see how Ellie's story ended. The first thing I noticed in the gameplay changes was the massive damn combat nerf, you never hit enemies first and it's next to impossible go combat stun, which is fine, but it makes the dodging mechanic become overused which can be frustrating at the beginning part. I personally didn't and don't care about the sexuality of the characters unless it plays a role in the story, but it was refreshing to have LGBT characters that didn't feel like pandering until you thought of the amount of the named characters who were LGBT. I had alot of friends in that community be annoyed by it, but since I'm straight I didn't care much. The story once it gets to Seattle and the character interactions between Ellie and Dina was honestly better then Joel and Ellie from the original game. The flashbacks and guitar scenes were genuinely some of my favorites on any console game, and the gameplay felt new and refreshing. As the story progresses and feels more linear and less open world, the story feels more straightforward as well, which was what made the first game so enjoyable. While I still have problems with the writing and everything from this part of the game, I really only took a problem with some world interactions and weird difficulty problems, such as being able to dodge a blister and easily destroy it with minimal materials compared to the first game, yet struggling with every single dog. This may be my fault as a player if I'm being honest, but either way it felt strange. On the other hand, it turned out to be more difficult then the first game, and more rewarding because of that. The story takes a nosedive as soon as you get back to the theater with Tommy. The game leaves on an absolutely massive cliffhanger, with Abby having both Tommy and Ellie at gunpoint. Then, they have you play a long segment as Abby, breaking the flow of the story. I took problem with this, as it shows the utter lack of writing ability that plagued the beginning of the game. I was extremely reluctant to play through as Abby. I felt like everything that happened was meant to just make us like her more, which made me end up liking her less. This portion of the game really tested my willingness to play. This all leads up to the biggest gripe with the story, how Ellie let's Abby live. Imagine if somebody you didn't know comes in and kills the person you love the most, and you travel miles and days to find them, killing dozens of people and torturing some. Then, when you finally meet the person you went there for, you let them go. That is exactly what happened and it was an attempt to subvert expectations that felt like something straight out of a Cartoon Network show. This is one of the most questionable, and in my opinion, awful decisions of writing that I've seen. The game was going amazing, it was fun, compelling, and enjoyable overall until this point. I would buy this game for myself, and recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the original, but I truly hope that the story is retconned or made non-canon. It feels about he same as the current Star Wars Sequels to me, a great franchise ruined with annoying writing. This game is worth the money, but I expected way more, and hoped for way more. It may seem strange for me to care about a game this much, but I genuinely loved the original story and felt strongly about this sequel, and it makes me disappointed that such mistakes were made. Thank you for reading to this point, have a nice day. Expand

Garbage story that totally disrespects the characters of the first game. Gonna pretend this ridiculous game doesn't exist. RIP TLOU. 0.

I really liked the game, if you did not pass the 1 part, then in 2 I play you categorically forbid!
    P. S: the game is cool, all the bakers)

Wonderful game, and the most fleshed out suite of accessibility options I've ever seen. The story is amazing and so much more then the bland, formulaic stereotype that unfortunately run rampant in many games. Characters have purpose and motivation and it all comes together in a way that highlights the creators skills in storytelling.

The story is bad. Characters have been destroyed. The universe is full of cliches and fortunate events.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For a game that relies on it’a story to you know be good. It falls flat in so many ways. The game is gorgeous and the gameplay is good. But the story is what drives the game. And it’s just bad. The games not worth buying. If it was written better the game would have been a 10/10 but the game is a mess I’m the worst way. Pewdiepie said it was a mess. I think it’s a mess. The game sucks. They tried to do something new and they sucked at doing it. Expand

Tiene buenos gráficos y una excelente jugabilidad pero para ser sincero eso es lo que menos importaba en the last of us, esperábamos una gran, gran historia no está burla

Ignore the whiners. This game is even better than the first.
The story works, the gameplay is vastly improved, and it is an excellent experience all around. Most people who hate on it probably haven't even played the thing.

Lo acabo de terminal, muy buen juego.
Algunas escenas las vi un poco forzadas pero en todo lo demás me encantó.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
