    It is an absolute masterpiece. I can't stress this enough. A MASTERPIECE of gaming.
    It has its flaws like any other game before and like any game that is yet to come. But no matter if it's graphic, storyline, characters or gameplay, it's incredible. I cannot understand all the hate. Play it yourself.

Niel Druckmann was too focused on the wrong things and even though the sound and graphic designs are amazing, it doesn’t make up for the complete lacklustre and disappointing story and boring characters. The first TLOU had those things but this is just a disaster and especially after the first is one of the greatest games ever. I love Joel and Ellie and their bond and relationship. I was really looking forward to hear and see and play Ellie’s story and follow her and Joel onward in this world, but instead we get a boring non compelling revenge is bad story where you play as a badly introduced character in Abby. They should either had made Abby her own game first or change the order you play the game in, because the way it is right now I don’t want to or feel anything for abbys character.… Expand

    This game is not for the squeamish or the faint of heart. This is a ultra violent revenge story. The first game was about the love between two characters. This sequel is the counter of that. This story is about hate. TLoU2 feels a lot like Jee-woon Kim's I Saw the Devil. For me, it's easily one of the beste story driven games ever.

    After the simple, but well executed story of the 2013 play station last of us oriented around an middle-aged man losing his daughter after the outbreak of a global pandemic and reconnecting with his human side by befriending a girl of the same age 20 years later. changing from ruthless killing machine to ruthless killing machine who has a daughter figure.
    its a really simple, shallow story that would be near impossible to f*ck up due to its basic setup. but people lost their minds over this fairly average game with a memorable heartfelt story, and this along a side naughty dogs continuous climb of excellence making hit AAA title after hit AAA title people were expecting something they would never get.

    Last of us part 2 is a Good game. not a 'Sh*t' game and by no means a 'masterpiece'
    people expected something they would never get, the last of us again.
    The game is stunning, sounds like god, controls perfectly, is the single best animated game ever and is superbly acted. a lot of hard work was put into making the world. almost sweat shop conditions where people almost f*cking died due to naughtydog's crunch type game development. where people would be working up until 9pm. The game is worth playing alone for all of these reasons.

    But people aren't mad about this. They are mad about the story.
    So from an unbiased view, how is the story? pretty good. Better than most games you find in AAA titles such as Assassins creed or Gears of war or Call of duty or Days Gone. The only real issue is its slightly jarring structure and downright inconsistent pacing, that is being nice. but again most people aren't mad about that either. its the 'twists'and deaths and lack of character development.

    Before i go into spoilers let me just say i do recommend this game, and i recommend it blind and i recommend that you play the game with the key word being 'Empathy'. You need a lot of that and a fair bit of emotional intelligence with a lack of bias to truly appreciate this game.
    Okay, spoilers from this point on:

    I would discuss the whole plot but i've sent my general thoughts and would just like to go over major plot points that people are pissed over and do my best to explain that these aren't poor decisions but instead are actual features of the narrative. starting with Joels death. people have called it 'pathetic' and 'rushed'. now whilst i somewhat agree with it being rushed it ins't a cheap move to make a plot its a natural and fair conclusion to what is a pretty terrible person. He is killed by someone that has more than all the right to kill him. the daughter of the surgeon who would've saved the world. Abby.
    please remember the empathy idea i brought up. This story is about empathising with 'bad' people.

    Second thing people are p*seed about is Abby. playing as her is very aggravating at first but as you play more and more so long as you don't b*tch and wine about tit the whole time and take your time to pay attention and listen to her side of the story, despite its annoying structure of turning back the plot and playing it all over again, you can empathise with her more and more. Abby feels terrible guilt for the brutal murdering of Joel and starts a journey to protect and help a brother and sister. and does so because of the guilt and because Abby sees herself in Lev (the brother) as he also had his family and home torn away from him. Like Abby had from Joels selfish acts.
    so long as you take the time to appreciate her story you will find yourself interested and invested in what is essentially a re-telling of the last of us 1.

    finally people don't like Ellies lack of an arch. to which i say, what the f*ck? the whole point of Ellies journey is that she has had her purpose in life taken from her by Joel, and finds her only motivation she has left is to kill. But not being strong enough emotionally she becomes more and more sad and psychotic, towards the very end looking like a genuine insane person with blood all over her terribly damaged body - reflecting her mind.
    Ellie doesn't learn and has caused herself to lose everything she had. Not Abby.
    Its sad to watch and play but its only natural this happens to someone, especially someone who's only 18 bear in mind. so her arch is shallow and she doesn't better herself but only worsens herself.

    So to conclude, most of what people disliked about the game was just the point of it. Play this game again and really think whilst playing and you may just find a unique story with a few interesting new things to offer.    … Expand

    Potentially my favourite game of all time. Loved the first when it came out, finished it 4 times. However I loved this game even more. People can't handle it's method of story telling, the controversy justifies it's uniqueness and brilliance. I have no tolerance for the stupidity displayed by haters. Philistines. 11/10

I played the game with an open mindset since I saw how users hate the game, during the first 2 hours of the game we witness Joel's death and I won't say that it was a reasonable way to kill him... it was not, I expected that Joel would die in the game, how I expected that is pretty simple, this is Ellie's story not Joel and Ellie from the first game, it was clear from the E3 Reveal, game cover and from the interviews. The reason to why they killed Joel is reasonable but the way they killed him was unreasonable.

    That brings me to Abby, I don't see a single reason why Naughty Dog thought that the player would sympathize with Abby. It is impossible to sympathize with the game's antagonist. Unlike Ellie, Abby is a very evil character, she has no morals... she kills her own with no remorse. Ellie on the other hand she is on a journey to "Kill Every Last One of Them" there are some scenes where Ellie kills Abby's friends/followers and she doesn't feel good about it, she has morals unlike Abby. At the same time the fan base have known Ellie since the release of the game and people liked her from her silliness and overall a funny character while she was learning from Joel. Abby is a new character that begun with an evil approach, no one cares about her flashbacks with her dad, nor can sympathize when showing us that she plays with a couple of pooches.
    THAT is why people sympathize with Ellie more than Abby.    … Expand

Joel's death is really hurt, and a game shouldn't take such a complex story, we need time to fighting and garbage collecting etc., damn it is not as good as 10, I do this because there are too many low scores just for anger and hatred, I just hope there will be a part 3. tears...… Expand

But it felt as hallow, and dumb as a blockbuster action movie. They really tried to replace Joel with Abby and it did not land with me. I really disliked more then half of this game. The story and dialogue from Part 1 was the main driver and attractor, Part 2 however, leaves much to be desired. Felt like there were political/social themes being forced into the narrative this time around and it felt so unnatural. One of the main characters has a physique that would just be near impossible to maintain given the world's conditions. Multiple new characters, uninteresting and under developed.     What an amazing achievement this game is. Besides the amazing visuals and improved gameplay, I really appreciated what ND did with the story. I applaud them for trying something different. Yes, it didn't work for everyone. But if it worked for you, it worked big time. The emotional rollercoaster that the game provides is unprecedented.

    This game is a masterpiece. The storytelling is on a different level. If are looking for real, relatable and complex characters, this is as good as it gets. Do yourself a favour and play this game, it will challenge your thinking.

    I was really really excited for this game to come out. And i honestly enjoyed the first half of the game and even wasn't bothered with the death of that person at the beginning. But after the middle of the story everything went downhill. In my opinion naughty dog tried to put he message they wanted to pass above the story. Слили Джоэла, слили Джесси, ничего не оставили в конце. Любовная линия с Диной абсолютно никакая, её не за что любить, пока был жив Джесси, она металась туда и обратно, то к нему, то к Элли, поэтому не возникает никакой привязанности к ней, никакого сопереживания. Единственный положительный момент, который можно разве, что только додумать, это личные переживания Элли, из-за невозможности простить и проститься с тем человеком, который заменил ей отца, всё. В остальном игра крайне никакая, не раскрыта, растянута. Полно "сильных" женщин, которые все решают за "слабых" мужчин, в постапокалиптическом мире полным полно гомосексуалов и трансегендеров, что мы натыкаемся на них почти повсеместно. Мир игры остался на том же самом месте, ни развития, ни изменений, как подготовленный кусок глины, но без гончара. Если смысл игры в одно большом месседже на тему толерантности, то разработчики успешно справились со своей задачей.     Intel's hate this game. All these negative reviews from people who haven't played the game just show how sad the gaming community is. No one takes this community seriously and for good reason. Get a life, get out the basement, you are what all the stereotypes stem from. It's sad and cringe. On top of that, I'm on my second play though and can say this game is amazing.

Эли понимает что она особенная и он не дал осуществится её предназначению , а так же убил близкого ей человека из цикад , это её можно сказать приёмная мать Марлин . Естественно она начинает ненавидеть Джойла . Но конечно она ненавидит его как можно ненавидеть своего отца , ну то есть любит и не любит одновременно . В итоге Джойл погибает мучинической смертью у неё на глазах (как Прометей) ну вообщем начинается противостояние . Там есть спорные моменты, зачем то дали играть против Эли в театре например . Но конец шикарен . Во первых мир обоих героинь рушится , особенно у той что начала месть ,она потеряла почти всё . Эли начинает топить Эбигейл но внезапно понимает что она топит Джойла , естественно она отказывается от этого и в тот самый миг прощает его ! Если ты играл в первую часть ,там был момент когда бандит топит Джойла и Эли совершает первое убийство в жизни чтобы спасти его . Ну вот теперь ты понимаешь главную задумку авторов. Игра не про месть ,игра про прощение своего мёртвого "отца".

    А про геев очень к месту . Если бы мы жили там в своём маленьком хуторе ,скажем парней 10 в одном доме , скорее всего кто то из нас стал бы геем . А другие бы ходили на вылазки ловили и насиловали бы женщин . Это и случилось с Эбигейл в конце , её пленили ,издевались и насиловали . The staging and atmosphere ist great and the graphics and the excellent sound do the rest. Sometimes i was quite tense while playing and was even a little bit afraid. :D in addition, the player ist forced to consider ethical an moral choices made by elly and abby while playing. The players empathie ist also required. ND has done an unprecededented job here to shed light on all sides of the effect and cause, taking the player on an exciting journey. I loved it. There were only a few lenghts for me that didnt have to be. The gameplay ist straight and similar to tlou. 9/10… Expand

    Stunning graphics and animation, immersive and daring story and tense gameplay. A few issues with pacing, but not enough to detract from this powerful experience. One of the best games I’ve played.

    Maybe the most intensive video game experience I ever had!
    My feelings were like on a rollercoaster ... sympathy and antipathy changed during the game and I was so invested in the story.
    In my opinion one of the best videogames ever made.

После прохождения я просто впала в уныние, я не хотела знать и помнить эту игру, но не потому что она плохая а потому что она вызывает такие эмоции какие ни один фильм что я смотрела, ни одна игра не вызывала. ИЭта игра прекрасна во всем кроме самой подачи сюжета. Разработчики не побоялись отойти далеко от первой части и людей которые ставят плохие отзывы я понимаю, но не отношусь к ним. Neil has lost his creativity but intended on selling a sequel, it totally makes sense for him to prefer an SJW agenda based story because he was certain that the game could stir up a lot of controversy which in turn provides free marketing. Theres lots to be talk about when it comes to this game. i rekon the story is amazing, the way it made me feel was so werid man never felt it before. The way Ellie gave up everything to kill abby is so sad and at the time i wanted Abby to die but now im so happy she didn’t. Abbys like Joel now from the first game looking after Lev. I see this game being like Whiskey getting better over time. Gameplay was prtty good but got stale at points. Soundtrack was the best part o along side the acting. Soild 8/10.… Expand

The gameplay is gripping and intense, the graphics are some of the best I've ever seen and the acting and voice acting is top notch. My only issue is with the pacing of the story. The story itself is brilliant, although there are parts that break up the tension such as playing 10 hours of gameplay after an intense moment is left unfinished, forcing you to wait to see the conclusion. On repeat runs if you expect the 10 hour gap, I imagine it being more enjoyable. On your first run however it can be a bit tiresome. I also thought it was a tad too long but that's my preference. Overall this game is a masterpiece and definitely in my top 10 of all time.… Expand

I wanted to start with the good parts. The graphics and mechanics are incredible, and I'm glad they added LGBTQ in the game, big heads up for that. Now we took care of the good, let's get into why the game is horrible. The story was pure crap. It all felt rushed and not well thought out. The reason players loved The Last of Us 1 was because of the relationship between Ellie and Joel. But here on the Last of Us 2 they killed Joel to early in the game, and in a very humiliating way, which left me and alot of other players very confused. Also the new characters like Abby and Dina felt rushed. The chemistry between Dina and Ellie just didn't exist, and the Devs also tried to FORCE you to like the character Abby. I loved the first game due to the story being a masterpiece in my eyes with others saying the same. I went in open-minded ready for how the beloved characters stories would evolve more and where this game would take me. Then Joel dies a character I’ve come to like a lot and the death is in a way where you feel both sad and angry, but after this the story becomes predictable and a bit cliche. My main problem with the game is how they try to demonize Ellie while making Abby ( a character you don’t like in the first place) good. Looking at both Ellie’s and Abby’s skills and weapons there’s quite a difference in the quality with Abby coming out on top. Then with little things like Ellie killing Mel with things like Ellie killing Abby’s dog and Mel who happened to be pregnant. I don’t understand why things happen the way they do. I played the entire game at least trying to get revenge and even that was taken away from me . The only thing keeping the game from a lower score is the gameplay improve ment .… Expand

And that is one of the bravest, gut-wrenching, beautiful stories of this console generation. If game developers always took the steps that would please most fans, the medium would be so much less exciting.

Saying the theme of this game is just “revenge is bad” is doing a disservice as it’s such a surface level analysis of the game. The theme is about the cycle of violence and the destruction it leads to, and forgiveness. Wether you liked the story or not, the technical aspect of the game is objectively some of the best in the business. From the big step up in gameplay from the last game to the jaw-dropping visuals, from the music and sound design to the level design, everything is vastly improved from Naughty Dog’s previous installments.… Expand

Tendrían que haber puesto 3 finales: uno en el que Ellie matara a Abby para culminar su venganza de una puñetera vez,otro en el que Abby matase a Ellie,para que la dejase de perseguir, y el otro que es el que verdaderamente tuvimos,por mucho que sea agridulce. A mí me da exactamente igual lo que digan los cuatro gilipollas que se ponen a hablar mal del título sin ni siquiera haberlo jugado.

    The story has so many layers to it it’s unlike any game I have ever played. Though it does have pacing issues, the juxtaposition of characters and the charm they have on screen is second to none. And goddamn those facial animations

    Extremely emotional and intelligent story. Countless negative theory-laden opinions on the game due to leaks, many review bombs by people who haven't played the game, many invalid criticisms, and many valid criticisms.

    If you're on the fence about buying this, and haven't seen the leaks, do it. I've been thinking about this game non-stop since I finished it a few days ago.

    There were moments where I genuinely paused the game, needing some air, because of a dramatic scene that felt like a kick in the stomach... And there were moments where I genuinely smiled back to the screen, in front of the cutest and emotional scenes you've seen in a videogame - even surpassing TLOU1.
    The amazing graphics and the beautiful soundtrack are the icing on the cake, the catalysts of this emotional rollercoaster.

    Also, enemy NPCs: another level of greatness has been accomplished here.
    They'll talk to each other, calling themselves by names, getting angry at you if you killed their companion, and exchanging information about your position.

    The gameplay isn't new, it's mostly a refined version of what we had in Part 1. Except for a couple of things:
    - The stealth feels great and realistic in this game, it's something you'll crazily enjoy if it suits you.
    - The level design is insane this time, elevating the gameplay to its maximum potential.

Would I buy this game again if I could go back in time? No ...Would I replay this game? Again, No. After 7 years since part 1 was released, the story of part 2 proves to be a convoluted and distasteful roller coaster ride of emotions. ND forces you to play as the newly established antagonist, to empathize and bond with this stranger - only AFTER she kills the familiar and beloved Joel Miller. Adding insult to injury, Ellie goes on a killing spree to avenge Joel, killing hundreds of WLF soldiers/Scars - only to leave Abby (the character who fueled said killing spree) alive. I understand what ND was trying to accomplish in making this story - the idea that revenge is a vicious cycle that ultimately gets both parties nowhere, but the way that they executed that idea was heavily flawed.… Expand

    - INSANE graphics, even on the original PS4. Makes you wonder what kind of graphics we'll see on the PS5. Insane level of detail and absolutely LOVELY on the PS4 PRO on a 4K Television. We have to congratulate Naughty Dog for the game's optimisation and looks on a 7 year old gaming hardware.

    - Gameplay mechanics were improved and new tactical opportunities have surfaced, with hiding under cars, beds, distractions, grass. You have multiple ways of approaching the same encounter.

    - Amazing difficulty and accessibility settings. So many choices and custom difficulty settings to make the experience however you want.

    And now for the negatives:

    - No innovation on the gameplay aspect. And I don't mean the mechanics as I mentioned above. I mean the actual execution of the gameplay. You scavenge, you craft, you upgrade weapons just like you did in the first game. Nothing changed on that matter.

    - The story is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. They could have taken on so many different approaches, but the result was awful. We were forced Abby down the throat, the decisions of the characters of the first game are plain stupid, there are plot armours everywhere, the new characters are not being properly introduced fr us to care about them. In general, ND's practice was manipulative, they tried so hard to make us like Abby that it resulted to stupid decisions by everyone.

    - The ending. In the end, nothing in this game mattered. In the first game, there was the hope of the cure. It ended with us thinking of the consequences of the choices Joel made. We thought that we would be paid off in the second game. But no, it's as if the cure was forgotten. With this game's ending, what can we look forward to fot Part 3? Nothing. All the characters are broken, no revenge was exacted, no buildup for the next game EVER happened.

    - This game was advertised as Ellie's Revenge. But in the end, it was all about Abby. Naughty Dog even restricted reviewers not to talk about the second half of the game. ND even went to the length of changing character models from the game to the trailers (I am talking about the Joel-Jesse swap), leading to misleading and false advertising for the game.
    - Joel's Death: Listen. I for sure don't give this a negative for the sole fact that Joel died. It's how we get to it. Joel was a major character and NOTHING about his death are even close to Joel's character. His death was too early in the game, he could give us much more and he could died later in the game, after we have played with Ellie and him, actually living the consequences of Joel's decision to save Ellie. Then we could play as Abby, experiencing her side, with her father's loss, how she met all these people and justifying the revenge against Joel. Then, they find each other and the game ENDS with Abby killing Joel and Ellie setting for revenge, possibly setting a part 3.

    Yes, the game has amazing graphics and pretty tense gameplay. But the story was a BIG turn down for me and many. Makes me appreciate the first game even more.. Cant believe Naughty Dog really went this route.. oh well. 5/10 from me.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
