    I stand with the masses around the world in being soul crushingly disappointed and heartbroken by the death of our beloved Joel. All these years I waited, pre-ordered and set aside time to play this I was beyond excited. To be faced with our wonderful Joel have his life brutally taken. I'm heartbroken, angry, and horrified. Joel & Ellie are ruined now.

All these years I waited, pre-ordered and set aside time to play this I was beyond excited. To be faced with our wonderful Joel have his life brutally taken. I'm heartbroken, angry, and horrified. Joel & Ellie are ruined now.

    We were ALL so excited to see the bond between him & Ellie again, I don't even want to play now. Why is the focus on some murdering heathen, and Ellie embarking embarking on the Dina journey?? and who the hell wrote his death right at the very beginning of the game..?? This game franchise is ALL about Joel and Ellie. Why take him away in such a cheap, brutal way by that murderer, not a good decision. It was done in such a crass way. It is so nonsensical too in that it bears no ties to the first game at all, and Joel & Ellie don't even communicate! It makes me so mad the way they let Joel down in making him and Tommy come across stupid as to give their names and hometown to the gang. It's a total injustice. It feels like the very short time we see Joel, he's just an unknown background character, not the huge leading icon of the game he is. Very strange what you've done to these characters. Ellie didn't even have a kind word to say as Joel died, despite the fact she loves him like a father.

    The bond, humour and love was always the treat to the gamer to watch between Joel & Ellie. It feels like a weird liberal agenda of lgbt and feminism shoved down our throats, than it paying respect to our Joel & Ellie's journey. Games are to escape from the dreariness of the modern world..

    They built up hype all this this time around Joel and him coming to rescue Ellie once more and it was built on a lie! the lowest of the low. They wanted to 'shock' your audience, but instead disrespected and showed plain dishonour towards a monumentally huge fanbase around the world, to Joel.

    Joel and Ellie are the soul of The Last Of Us.

    When we first watched him playing his guitar and singing to Ellie, I was in a flood of tears it moved me so much I literally was so excited to see their new ventures together. That was the absolute best part, beautifully done you could feel it in your soul. I haven't even picked up this game since Joel died i'm just so disappointed. I'm so shocked Naughty Dog that you've completely ruined a world class, deeply loved game. When we got to Joel's house and saw the flowers adorned outside and Ellie's heart breaking cuddling his jacket with his scent on, I cried and this isn't how I wanted to feel when we all fell in love with Joel. I'm a nurse and have needed a happy escape during this pandemic in the world, all my friends laughed at how much I adore Joel and I was talking about my excitement getting to see him reunited with Ellie everyday for months before this came out. Now it's no happy escape at all and i'm angry.

    With a heavy heart, back to the wonderful original The Last Of us with our Joel & Ellie x original The Last of Us with our beloved Joel and Ellie.    … Expand

    The graphics are fantastic! Animation is fantastic! Everything EXCEPT for the story and writing is fantastic... There are so many things wrong with this game storytelling wise, that explaining why I feel that way..would be exhausting. I also dont want to be labled as a bigot, because apparently if you dislike this game you are one.

    Amazing story telling and emotional manipulation. I'm very happy it wasn't 10 hours of the same thing as the first one, and we got a unique experience.

    Oh boy, they tell us about a revenge story that it doesn't consume at all. You can read a good amount of specialized reviews and all talks about the masterpiece of gameplay and storytelling, the gameplay, world design, ambient and more details that the game has are good but the story it´s something that rumbles into a bad end.

    If the game was a standalone and was not a part 2 to the amazing first one, I would have rated it higher. I really did not need a sequel, the last of us ended the story perfectly with a logical moral dilemma. Compared to the first game, this game excels in gameplay and graphics. However, that is not what made the first one such a huge success; it was the story that made it stand out. The way he walked into a trap is so out of character for who he is that it raised red flags for me before anything else. And I love Abby as a character, but I didn't want to play her. And no I did NOT want Ellie to leave her family, her little spud, for some revenge spree, and it honestly didn't make that much sense.
    Also if she killed like dozens of people just to get to Abby who was imprisoned, why on GODS GREEN EARTH would she hesitate to kill Abby? Oh, these people were just NPCs, but Abby, she's special. ugh...
    I love the games, the first one especially, but after playing this I'm just left with a bitter taste in my mouth. It will take a lot to convince me to buy another game from Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    In it's closing scene, you feel a sense of absolute emptiness. The bad kind. There is nothing to look forward to because the game leaves you with nothing....after destroying everything. Please do yourself a favor and save your money this game is an insult to anyone who has the slightest interest in movies and storytelling. (note: I am not rating this game on gameplay at all because that would make it a 0 for me since the gameplay is boring and naughty dog games are slightly interactive movies so as such I review them like that)The only positive that this game has is its the most beautiful looking game I've seen. But graphics don't save lazy writing. This game is a message, NOT A STORY. Characters act uncharacteristically to push the message and completely shown to be disposable. Now to talk about this game in-depth i have to spoil the major story elements if you are for whatever still interested in this game after reading all these reviews stop here. Now I'm going to start from the beginning, Now I do not have an issue with what happened to Joel, I have expected it after the first game and golf is a great sport. I have an issue on what leads to his death, Joel is known to be very secretive SO WHY DOES HE GIVE AWAY ALL OF HIS INFORMATION TO COMPLETE STRANGERS and you cant make the argument that he has changed because not only A. he is in a zombie apocalypse but B. Joel and the people he is with is known to be attacked by hunters so he can't risk just giving his information away. Now If you ignore that the rest of Ellie's story is fine until we get to Abby, the game attempts to make Abby a misunderstood character who was eaten with revenge but it only does the opposite ABBY IS A MONSTER even if you ignore she killed Joel, she has been know to be ok with killing people she once sat at the same table with and being excited to kill a pregnant woman. No matter what you can't make me like her in any sense. You have to play as Abby FOR TEN HOURS if you cut most of her parts out not only would you have a better product but your goal of making me sympathize with her would have been better executed. The biggest sin of this game is the ending after Ellie finally finds Abby hung from a tree almost dead, instead of letting her die, SHE FREES HER. You could have ended the game with her walking away and still have her end the cycle it would have been anti-climatic but it would still be better than what happens she frees her and proceeds to challenge her to fight her to death to which she begins winning, in the fight Abby bites off two of Ellie's fingers so if she wasn't mad before now she should see red. Ellie proceeds to drown her and as she is dying and Ellie is getting her revenge the most retarded thing in the entire game proceeds to happen ELLIE LETS HER GO AFTER REMEMBERING WHO SHE KILLED. WHAT??? I AM DUMBFOUNDED BY THIS. The logical response to remembering Joel is letting her come up for air and drowning her again. This doesn't even do what the game was trying to push. LETTING ABBY LEAVE DOESNT END THE CYCLE OF REVENGE. What is stopping Abby from coming back and finishing the job? There is no implication she doesn't want to do that so your message is now pointless killing her would have stopped it. After letting Abby ago Ellie is left with nothing, Abby gets her revenge and what she wants, while Ellie loses everything she can't even play her guitar how does that encourage people to end their cycles of revenge. The only saving graces for this game is the flashback sequences, It's almost like the writers just fell asleep for the rest of the game except for these parts. They should have charged $20 for the game and only had the flashback sequences, This would live up to the legacy of the last one and still be enjoyable. OR HELL if you cut 8 or more hours of the Abby parts, rewrite both the ending and beginning to make sense, you could have a 9/10 game. Or even just cutting the Abby parts would make it a 7/10. But that doesn't happen this game is just unbearable. This game could be a 5/10 if these were completely new characters and not Joel and Ellie it would at the very least fix the beginning and help certain people from hearing Abbys story out in the beginning but again this doesn't happen. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THAT IS GOOD SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FORGET THIS EXISTS.… Expand

    Made an account after finishing the story, this game deserves all of the praise it gets. Naughty dog manages to stay faithful to the first game as they take you on a journey where you feel every emotion under the sun along the way. Do yourself a favor and play it all the way through, absolutely the most ambitious story the studio has told to date.

Ever since I played the first last of us I loved the game and story that came with it I absolutely adored the universe but Neil had to go and ruin it with the last of us 2 I’m glad some people were able to enjoy it but the game just felt so unrewarding and messed up the whole franchise for me with the way they handled the game they could of added so much to it and made it great but they fell short for me. An example would be Joel’s death yes I get the world is crazy and anything could happen but cmon you could’ve done it better than that sorry excuse for a character death a great example of one would be lee from the walking dead I hope Neil doesn’t come back on the third installment because he just ruined the characters and their arcs feel completely pointless now.… Expand

I wouldn't say its plot is a masterpiece, but it's interesting in its own way, I was given exactly what I'd been waiting for: an interesting, slow, emotional story with interesting characters, It's worth playing. But there's too much feminism though

Structured weirdly for sure, but still enjoyable. Felt underwritten/under realized. Don't let some over talked elements over shadow the good. (Spoilers) The museum scene, Ellie playing Take On Me and more...so beautiful and reminded me of what I loved about the first game. Cool dynamics with world building too- the other factions are interesting. But overall, they dropped the ball on story and the ending. Still a must play.… Expand

    How it handles players love for the main character is very disrespectful. Just like most games now I can tell this was less about making a good game and more about pushing an agenda. I guess I’ll go back and play part one and pretend this game never existed.

Hablando del gameplay the last of us 2 es casi un copia y pega del 1, no hay mucho avance y obvio es una buena jugabilidad pero no esperamos 7 años para lo mismo, tomando en cuenta el mundo semi abierto, resulta demasiado repetitivo lootear y los flashbacks resultan repetitivos en la parte de Abby y hay que recalcar desde un punto neutro que las unicas partes emotivas de la hgistoria son cuando se habla de Joel o con flashbacks sobre el, la historia se apego demasiado al cliche de men mataron a una persona y en hacerte sufrir sobre eso todo el videojuego, incluso pasa lo mismo con Abby y su padre.

    La habilidad de esquivar golpes esta demasiado desvalanceada porque le quita totalmente la dificultad al videojuego, sin lootear creando espacios forzosos en la durabilidad del juego, se puede decir que es un videojuego corto, LA JUGABILIDAD SE LIMITA SOLO A LOOTEAR Y YA NO SE VE MUCHA AMENAZA DE INFECTADOS o enemigos no infectados, y se vuelve a recalcar que gracias al sistema de esquivar ataques, el juego pierde la gracia de sobrevivir, se pierde la necesidad del sigilo, y partes dificiles de donde tenias que buscar una estrategia para superar ciertos niveles, Y HAY DEMASIADOS HUECOS ARGUMENTATIVOS Y FALLAS DE GUION EN UNA HISTORIA APARTE DE LA MUERTE DE JOEL, y con respecto a que Ellie y Joel ya no se llevaban bien, en el inicio oimos como Ellie le dice a Dina que planea ver una pelicula con Joel, y como cuenta cosas sobre el que de acuerdo con el arco argumentativo suceden luego de que Joel le cuenta la verdad a Ellie, y sin mencionar que iban a remplazarlos en turno al inicio del videojuego, y tambien la preocupacion que se le nota al enterarse de que Joel no estaba en su lugar de turno.

    Y el tema mas controversial del videojuego es la inclusion excesiva de valores del movimiento LBGTIQ+.... gracias a esta inclusion se dan huecos de trama, fallos en la historia, y ni hablar de la escena de sexo era totalmente inneceario, hay que fijarse como el videojuego promueve el homosexualismo y las condiciones de cambio de genero o el bisexualismo, PERO TIENEN QUE DARSE CUENTA QUE EL VIDEOJUEGO APESAR DE SER+18 es jugado por gente de diversas edades, la mayoria de estas son niños o adolescentes menores de edad, una edad donde son muy influenciables y esto puede repercutir en su vida, NO SOY HOMOFOBICO NI NADA POR EL ESTILO PERO ESTOY HACIENDO ESTA CRITICA DESDE UN PUNTO NEUTRO BASANDOME EN CIERTAS CRITICAS DE PERSONAS NOVATAS Y PROFESIONALES EN EL TEMA. Ademas se puede recalcar que Abby solo es un persnaje forsozamente de inclusion LGBTIQ+ en el videojuego, ya que posee una historia vaga y poco argumentada para llegar de la nada y matar al personaje mejor trabajado de los videjuegos segun varios criticos, Abby simplemente es una superviviente mas al igual que los canibales del primer juego que mataban para manteer una comunidad e niños y mujeres. HASTA TOMMY QUE APARECE RELATIVAMENTE POCO EN EL PRIMER VIDEOJUEGO ESTA MEJOR CONSTRUIDO QUE Abby... me atreveria a decir que Abby en arco argumentativo he historia detras de ella se vendria a comparar con David del primer juego...

    Ahora hablando sobre el final es muy vago y poco claro que deberia ser explicado por un buen DLC pero como va el juego dudo que el DLC sea bueno, Ellie cambia su perspectiva y vemos como olvida la muerte de Joel y hasta Tommy se enoja al ver como Ellie deja de ser una superviviente y le hace caso a todo lo que dice Dina, sin argumentar bien sale en busca de venganza una que no realizo simplemente porque no quiso... Y es un hueco de trama demasiado grande ya que no olvides que Ellie es una perfecta superviviente sin ningun remordimiento para matar con tal de sobrevivir, y lo vimos en escenas como cuando se tira del puente y cuando mata a David en la primera parte... asi que perdonar al que mato a tu padre te pregunto yo lo harias?

    Dato Curioso: EN EL PRIMER VIDEOJUEGO ES POSIBLE PASARSE LA PARTE FINAL DE RESCATAR A ELLIE SIN MATAR A NADIE MAS QUE A LOS DE LAS CINEMATICAS (EL GUARDIA Y MARLEN)

I can see and understand why Ellie stopped in the end, but I never got inside Abby's head as ND wants me to. Building her vaguely and suddenly she's "trying to be good" after 2 strangers saved her. After Seattle events, I can see that she did change, but that's not enough to cover her golf scene. Overall it's an emotional roller coaster for me.… Expand

    Part 2 was only for hatred.

Le doy un 7, por todo lo bueno que tiene, jugabilidad, el Gore es brutal, los paisajes están de lujo, la banda sonora aunque a veces escasa pero es la justa y hermosa, los combates, aunque algo toscos y en ocasiones simples tiene su lado bueno.
    Dios hubo un momento en que casi me cago del susto. Había un infectado en si que estaba del puctas, osea recuerdan ese arte conceptual del infectado que parecía un elefante.
    Mierda esa parte es brutal y te saca el sorete en el instante.
    Pero eso es todo lo bueno que tiene el juego, y aquí me pregunto yo, ¿qué pensó el estudio que hacia? ¿Qué pensó Neil? ¿Osea nadie le dijo, bro esto es muy a lo George R. R. Martín pero mal hecho?
    En serio nadie le dijo, ¿viejo no está muy conveniente el encuentro de Abby con Tomny y Joel? ¿En serio nadie? Eso solo es shock, el shock es como el screamer, pero al menos el screamer funciona la primera vez, y cuando abusas ya empieza a ser cansino.
    Si vas a matar a un personaje importante, escríbelo bien, y si luego quieres que empaticemos con el nuevo personaje, pues dale un buen trasfondo, y de primeras has que sea al comienzo del juego, no cuando ya pasan unas 10 horas y te hacen odiar más al personaje.
    Osea dense cuenta, no creas a un personaje, y haces que mate a uno querido, para que luego de que mata a otro, y hiere fatal al tercero, decirte, "es que este personaje vivía enojado porque mataron a su papá"
    Eso se cuenta desde el inicio, debes hacer que un personaje le vayan queriendo desde el inicio, debes ir haciendo que la gente empatice con él, para que luego haga una acción que obvio hará que lo odien, pero que al menos empiecen a cuestionarse.
    Y si la historia es de venganza, puta madre completa toda la venganza, hasta Red Dead Redemption 2 lo hizo mejor, no hagas que solo un personaje se vengue y que no pague por ello. Wevon nos mostraron que en el primer juego no se andan con tonteras en tomar decisiones egoístas para que vengas con el momento de reflexión de, no te mato porque la venganza no es buena mata el alma y la envenena. How do you create a game which is visually excellent, has open world game play, crafting, riding on the coat tail legacy of a popular predecessor, with beloved characters, and turn it into a 4-5 out of 10 game; simple, give your audience the middle finger with an insultingly bad story line which seeks to subvert expectations for the sake of doing so, with no regard for enjoyment or satisfaction of your end user customer. The story takes a huge dump on the characters that were loved in the first game.

    The previews of the game are misleading when compared to what was actually released, giving the impression that both main characters would feature prominently in the game only for one to be needlessly killed.

    The only thing saving the game from a score under 4 is that the actual game play and visuals are pretty well done and high quality.

    The ending is also a complete disappointment with perhaps the most unsatisfying end which I have seen in a long time. It makes me ask the question; what has happened to an industry that deliberately sets out to disappoint the player? They knew this would anger people and yet went the way they did anyway.    … Expand

    Masterpiece. Several days after completing the game, I can't stop thinking about the plot, the characters and the kind of world they are doomed to live in. How one's actions can have an everlasting impact on so many people.

    Music is fantastic too, not only the great Santaolalla pieces, but Mac Quayle as well.

    Gameplay is fun as hell. Probably the best stealth-action game ever made.

It's a roller coaster of emotions, i've never felt that many emotions with a game, like to be happy, angry, mad, desperate, etc. The game is looking to put that feelings in your mind and it does it. Many people are complaining about what Abby did, but if you think deeply into her actions you should be able to understand her. That doesn't mean that i want her dead, i mean, i hate her even after the end, but i understand the character. On the other side, we all loved Joel, of course, he was an amazing character and his relationship with Ellie was the best plot i have ever seen on a videogame, but we also know that Joel was actually a monster, that killed a lot of innocent people in the past (he said Ellie in the first game that he has been on both sides of the coin, talking about hunters) and that also has practically condemned the humanity to the extinction by denying the cure for the virus (killing tons of innocent on the hospital btw). So, yes, we love Joel, but you can't tell he was a good person, maybe he even deserved worst that his death. This game IS NOT A DISNEY MOVIE, if you want fairy tales, happy endings, cute characters, man, go to disney plus and watch all that movies, maybe that's what you are looking for. This game is excellent in the way it is supposed to be.

    To finish this i have to say that the playability is amazing, it's so satisfying man. The graphics also are the best we've seen on ps4 and the music is perfect, like it was on the first game. So, this is a masterpiece, but not for everyone.    … Expand

    Gameplay, sound, animation, graphics are all 10/10. But that's not what people are here to read about. Honestly, this games story was thoughtful, innovative and unique. There are no "heroes" in this game, only flawed, realistic characters who sacrifice too much for revenge. This is a must play.

    Excellent game in pretty much every facet, especially visually and gameplay wise. The story is tough to play through, extremely dark and morally challenging, but I think it was done with good cause and mostly tastefully. I think a lot of gamers are crying over senpai Joel without understanding the deeper meaning of the narrative.

I absolutely will not ever get the hate boner the fanboys had for this game. You don't want to give spoilers? Great! Just make the marketing in a different way, try to make it a mystery, give less information, don't show things and make people excited but don't lie and distort things. Shame! The script is nothing to me... there's no point in the game... the whole beginning of the game screams at you that you have to take revenge, and you light up with the idea, and at the end it's a total bottom... Ellie lets Abby go... so what's the point? So you'd leave her to live on this farm with Deena... and have no revenge, and Abby's the only one left... what's all this nonsense? They also made Joel guilty... maybe you shouldn't have killed that doctor, but nobody guaranteed that Ellie's death wouldn't be red... why Abby should have gotten revenge and Ellie would have made a stupid decision to let it go... what with all the sacrifices throughout the game... Ellie even killed a pregnant pancake to get to Abby... what the authors of the game did not understand... if you kill your favorite character from the first part and then just let it all go, then be ready for hit... graphics and gameplay on top... but the plot is certainly a bit of a drip...… Expand

    1- not how Joel dies, in fact I liked the d the fact that I was quite brutal. I was already expecting him to die. It is NOT how he dies, it is the fact that he dies within 2 hours of the game. The main character of the last of us dies within the first 2 hours of the game Let that sink in. Its like Harry Potter dying in the first 20 minutes of the film. That he died? Fine. But could they not have come up with something later down the line?.

    2- I've thought this long and hard. Could they not have come up with the option to play abby? Because honest to god, it is not the fact that I genuinely did not for one second feel like playing baby. Her story line is indeed fun. You get to explore the world a bit more. And yet, I still had no emotional connection to her. At all. Being forced to play a character I do NOT want to play is not fun.

    3- I heard Neil Druckman does not use fun to describe this game. Whatever happened to video games? To the enjoyment of playing game and forgetting the real world. I want everybody to finish reading this review and if you have not yet played the game, play it and ask yourself., did you, at any point had any fun playing it? Because I speak for myself when I say. Not at all did I have any fun. I was always on edge. Always waiting for something. I literally did not smile at all, unless it was a ellie/joel flashback. It was a horrible feeling. And it is a game I could never play twice. Again, not because of the storyline. But the fun was literally vacuumed out of that game.    … Expand

Buzzwords and phrases used by critics to describe this game calling it a once in a generation game and a console defining game made me nervous that hype had affected critical evaluation of the game. The negative user reviews concerned me greatly so I actually went into the game worried that it would let me down. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This game makes incredibly bold risks and changes our attitudes towards beloved characters from the first game. Never have I seen a game manage to create such multi dimensional characters whilst also drawing out some of the best motion capture and voice acting of any game i have played. Many user complaints i have seen emphasised Joe;'s death, Ellies behaviour throughout the game and the section played as Abbie. Firstly Joel's death hurt but it sets up the narrative arch and philosophical themes throughout the game. The game deals heavily with the emotional burden hatred and lust for revenge bares on a person so by killing off the most beloved character you ignite the hatred for Abbie within the player almost immediately. The only annoyance i can empathise with is people complaining that the marketing lead people to believe Joel had more of a presence in the game. But then again whilst he does not go on this games journey with you his presence is so important through flashbacks that contextualise and develop these characters past the first game. These flashbacks were some of the most emotively potent sections of the game for me and i truly loved playing them.
    Secondly, like many others I was incredibly annoyed to play as Abbie when the game resets to Seattle day 1. However as I played her section I couldn't help but empathise with her as she slowly rekindled the humanity she lost after the killing of Joel. Lev, Yara and Abbie quickly became my favourite charters in the game. I cannot stress enough how much i came to love the Characters in Abbies story specifically the sequence in the Seraphites home island. Not only was this my favourite part of the game to play with the chaos and burning huts looking like something out of a medieval epic. But also this feud between the Seraphites and the WLF that has been bubbling in the background of the narrative referenced through NPC conversations, notes and some cutscenes, comes to a head. This happens just when the pacing seemed to lag and was a primal depiction of the brutality humans are capable of inflicting.
    Ellie's behaviour as a complaint i simply cannot understand. How many characters have we seen be driven to do horrible things as a result of happenings during the apocalypse. Why should Ellie be any different. The all consuming hatred is captured perfectly in pivotal scenes with excellent motion capture and voice acting and Ellie's pursuit of revenge is one of my favourites in video game history. Did it lower my estimations of her, yes. Was it unrealistic, no. Ellie is complex as humans are and the murder of the only consistent figure in her life drives her to near insanity. By the end of the story my perspective shifted and i wanted nothing more than for Abbie to get away with Lev. Why does there have to be a black and white separation of morality in video games? Can't morality be examined as a more complex and subjective element to storytelling in video games? There have never been more complex characters in a video game ever.
    Finally the ending is so bittersweet and heart wrenchingly sad that I cannot believe how pitch perfect it is. The final flashback to Joel had me in near tears and perfectly wrapped up Ellie and Joels relationship up whilst also serving fans closure. I wished Ellie could have sat with Joel on that porch forever. From seeing the depravement of Abbies would be grave at the end to the painful to watch final fight between Abbie and Ellie. The ending is long and masterful and finishes with a few subtle but unfathomably powerful moments. Ellie's lost finger making her unable to play the guitar properly, the Moth symbol on Joel's guitar and Ellies arm and the desolation of the happy family home. All sad and happy, good and bad but ultimately amazing.
    Music is amazing, graphics are amazing, and the gameplay was very good. Refined from the first game but not enough to warrant a 10. Also Tommy was the weakest character in the game for me and served little purpose other than to set the final chapter in motion. A narrative tactic rather than a three dimensional character. I have no time for people getting annoyed at the games diverse casting of race, gender and sexuality. When the story is as strong as it is these elements don't affect the game at all.
    All in all, this truly is a once in a generation game.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 has been a roller coaster of emotions and reviews for fans and gamers alike. Some people have praised the game, giving it a 10/10 while on the other hand, people have been giving it a 5/10 or lower. They say it is SJW propaganda and “go woke go broke.” Here is my official review of the game and what I thought of it. Off the bat, I will say it is an 8.6/10. Though that may be subject to change once I play the game again. I do believe that this is more about losing things/loss and some revenge too.
    Let’s address the elephant in the room here. The story. Tons and tons of people say that the story sucks. I have to disagree with that. While at some points in the story it can be a little sucky (as when you first play Abby or near the end when Tommy is just very very crazy). Or the pacing may suck. The switching of day 3 from Ellie to Abby was kinda hard. It would probably be better if it was day 1 then day 1. This game also has its high moments. One of these moments is when Ellie is visiting Joel’s grave. You can feel all of Ellies’ sadness swelling within her. You could tell she is just filled with sadness at that very moment. The painstakingly slow walking away from the grave and Dina being with you there doesn’t help. Or once you’re being shot at and you have so many places to run your heart is just beating fast once Ellie is running. Or when she’s hiding trying to heal herself once you’re “safe.” You have to take chances in spilt moments. Or lastly once Abby sees the “Rat King”. The fear that fills you is terrifying. Just hearing that thing on you as you try to kill it.
    The scenery and world-building is just fantastic. You get so engrossed by it. You sometimes feel like you’re in that moment. When you’re riding Shimmer with Dina going through downtown Seattle or grungy boat moments with Ellie getting ever so closer to Owen. The pouring rain and harshness fills you with regret and somewhat of fear? But the sunny and carefree time of horse riding lifts your spirits. So much detail just went into the world-building. The crunching of snow and rustle of tall grass once you go prone is so nice.
    The gameplay is definitely better than the first game. The dodge button makes you feel like you’re actually dodging in real life. Sometimes I would find myself dodging along with Ellie. The crafting system is definitely way better. It just fits more with this game. Working at the workbench and seeing all the guns and upgrades is very nice. Though there so have been more attacking at the workbenches. It feels great just to upgrade your guns. Having more supplements and skills trees was something that felt strange but so refreshing. Having to go out of your way to find the skill trees and supplements just felt so nice once you finally got it. Climbing up ropes was fun but it didn’t happen too often.
    Second, to last I want to talk about the characters. While they did make some likable characters like Jesse, Own, and Abby. They did make some characters dislikeable like Dina and Ellie at the beginning. They made Ellie way too edgy at the start. I just didn’t really like Dina to be honest. At the end, they messed up Tommy. I understand that Joel was his brother but they made him way too crazy at the end. The characters kinda improved as there was more but also in some ways didn’t improve.
    Lastly, the end. The ending is something that will grow on others (like me), be an instant hit, or just not like it at all. Let’s get this out of the way, the game is about loss and some of revenge. You start to realize that even if you kill all these people Ellie won’t get Joel back. She has PTSD and is “stuck” with it. She wants to get revenge but in the end, she lost fingers, Joel, and Dina. That flashback was to show Ellie that Joel is just Joel. Joel was just him at that moment. Ellie most likely could see Joel and her relationship on Abby and Lev. She knew that killing Abby wouldn’t solve anything. She would just keep the cycle of violence that happens so so much in The Last of Us universe. You may feel anger first at for not killing Abby but you may grow to like it. Abby also can’t get back her father or her friends back. And even her first love. But yet she has Lev and maybe they could rebuild something there. Ellie playing the guitar that Joel gave her represents her trying to move on. She doesn’t want to be stuck in the past. Ellie feels regret for killing Mel and beating Nora. Ellie hates herself for not forgiving Joel until it was too late. Letting Abby live shows that Ellie can forgive herself. Abby feels regret for killing Joel as well. She thought she could feel better by killing Joel. She hates what she did because she ripped away what Ellie had with Joel just like how Joel ripped away what Abby had with her father.
    My final thoughts are that this game is a masterpiece but there are some things that could change. (Rushed limit here)    … Expand

    This game is really phenomenal. Gameplay is fantastic, acting is great, and the story is really well written. The story will not make you happy and honestly, most of the story will just leave you really sad. This game was not made to make you feel good inside. It was made to tell a real story and sometimes a great story won't leave you with the cliche "Marvel Universe" happy ending. TheThis game is really phenomenal.     Do not rely on the user ratings. Play it on your own then judge it. This game is nothing short of a Masterpiece & I still cant believe its running on my PS4 so smoothly! Seriously give it a try then score it.

    Masterpiece, breaks your expectations through a emotional story. Graphics and sound are impressive. Gameplay is improved from previous game.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
