    It's a flawed masterpiece. I don't understand the hate this game is getting. I never thought a video game could make you feel this way. The lone fact that it does, says a lot about the writing and direction of this game, and how far Naught Dog has been successful with what they wanted to achieve. Tbh, I hated the ending, and that's why the game is so ground breaking.it challenges you. TheIt's a flawed masterpiece. I don't understand the hate this game is getting.     I gave the game a fair chance. While the gameplay was alright and the story had its moments, it had even more drags - and ultimately ended in a disaster. It's a revenge story that's hard to pay off and you feel it from the beginning, but the character's decisions are increasingly weak and hard to believe let alone identify with. Trying to be provocative, edgy and hard to swallow is justI gave the game a fair chance.     I love this game! I understand if you don't like this game, only if you actually completed the it. If you don't like the game do it having a gay main character then get out. I remember when I was 15. The world is changing if you like it or not, it's up to you if you want to left behind. Anyway like I said I love this game.     The game has mixed emotions, I pretty much expected this to happen. People would either totally hate the game or praise it as a masterpiece. I, myself loved the game, the gameplay was great, just like the previous one. The story though, didn't start off as strong as the first part, but ended on a great note.

    Idiots who set low rating obviously didn't play this. Being kind of biased against the first game which I considered to be good, but overrated, I was rather skeptical. But this is just breathtaking.

I hated her but come to find out her and joel aren't so different. This game has a revolving theme revenge and loss. It seems the that people will go so far for revenge that they're willing to sacrifice everything which is why the ending is so bittersweet. In my opinion it was a fantastic game. It kept me on edge the entire playthrough and at times it was almost maddening to play through because of the feelings I had from moments in this game. It was great and I'll miss Joel so much. 7/10 from me.… Expand

    I’ve heard a lot of people who were upset about the ending, but it’s an exceptional ending. It makes complete sense, and dove tails perfectly with the beginning of the game. I don’t want to give spoilers so just play the game through. It’s not predictable, which is another reason it’s such a good ending. Excellent job, Naughty Dog.     A gorgeous, perfectly written story about purpose, vengeance, loss and trauma. TLOU2 isn't for everyone, because if you stop coding homosexuality and/or mental illness and/or PTSD with literary devices such as "immune to the zombie virus" or "being a magical cursed chosen one" many get upset, but I suppose that's too bad for them, and it's not for them anyway - to quote Marty McFly - "yourA gorgeous, perfectly written story about purpose, vengeance, loss and trauma.     As for the rest - it is not mechanically all too different from TLOU, maybe even too much like it (with silly shivs still coming back), but it plays great, sounds great and looks incredible. The graphics, set-pieces and design are awe-inspiring, the actors are fantastic. It is a 10/10, truly.

    This game is visually amazing and the soundtrack and overall audio is so well done, it also does well in terms of representation however for me personally, without going into spoilers, the story falls short and is organised poorly. This game is, realistically, somewhere around the 5-8/10 level, depending on your personal preferences. To some it will be bitterly disappointing and to others it will tick many boxes. I think the reason people give it the extremely low scores is partly due to extremely high expectations, this has a lot to do with the previous game and the overall problem of 'hype' which leads to unhealthy high expectations and inevitable let down, they also feel like they were. at times, lied to. A lot of things in this game were misrepresented in the marketing and that is unfair to them. Personal i would give this game a 7.5/10.
    It is dragged down primarily by the story structure, pacing and narrative as well as tired gameplay mechanics which aren't improved upon much when compared to tje first game. It is pushed up by visuals, sound design and representation and some (albeit not many) instances of good writing.
    Ultimately i would wait till its on sale but its worth experiencing at some point just not at its released price point.    … Expand

This game is above average game play wise, i was constantly on the edge of my seat in combat, fully emerged in the beautifully crafted world, but the story didn't do justice. Half the game seems like a DLC that no one asked for, and as a player who went in knowing nothing of the leaks or even trailers... I was so disappointed. I don't want to play as Abby after she kills Joel, which instantly made her the villain to me. The constant Abby = good Ellie = bad is borderline offensive. Abby pets dogs? Ellie kills them. Ellie kills a pregnant lady and instantly regrets and is mortified by her actions, while Abbys gets to say "good" to Dina's with a knife to her throat. And again, you want me to sympathize for these character. After all that they did, and all that their friends did. I don't care how sweet the Owen character is after i killed him 4 hours ago. I just don't care. The gameplay is good, so its above a 5. The original was a 10/10 in my opinion, and the lack of a good story here brings it down 4 points instead of the usual 1 for my reviews.     unfortunately, I read the leaks and could not believe them so I had to play it to prove that Naughty Dog would not make this mistake by killing Joel. By Telling a story about a character, ABBY, I don't care about.

    The gameplay was wonderful like the animations and so on but I really hated the story. It has too many plotholes, the flashbacks drag you out of the story and the ending is pointless. There are so many great characters that die in the end or you don't know what happend to them like Dina and her baby. They are just gone.

    It is a very good videogame if you just want to shoot people and infected with one of the best skillbased shooting in history but the story is trash.

    The Score of 4 points are just for the game itself (excluding story and storytelling) the other parts which are more important for me get 0 points. I hope Naughtydog will learn by this socring of the game and will think about a satisfaying story which the players and the characters deserve!    … Expand

I liked moust of the carecters excepte Abby even if I played the game 3 times I still dont understand why you had to play with her for over 10 houers. They tried to make like a Joel and Ellie story with her and Lev but bouth caracters didn't had any social skils and it wasn't as clouse of being a story like the first game. The only caracter that i liked in her side of the story was Manny. And also iI didn't like that they killed Joel in the first houer eaven thou he still apears in the game. But in this game I loved Ellie Dina Tommy Joel and Jesse eaven though some of them didn't apeard as much as they should have.… Expand

    This game twisted my heart inside out, I felt every second of the journey and empathized with every character. There is not white and black here, the entire story is a very intricate, bloody, heartwarming grayscale. Graphics are beyond beautiful and the gameplay makes you feel every punch, shoot and every death.

The stealth is fun, combat brutal and exploring the beautiful apocalyptic world just exciting. Its full of details. The game is absolutely elite when it comes to graphics, sound and animations.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where do I start? Oh boy. This is one of the most painful reviews I've ever done. Okay, let's address the part where the devs showcased the trailer, and made it look (painfully obvious) that Joel would be joining Ellie. But no, he's not.

    Naughty Dog thought it would be hilarious to kill Joel, within the first hour of the game, by Fireflies that are thought to be gone. It's the doctor's "daughter" (she's trans, let's not try to hide it) who is strong as can be, seriously she's buff! I have nothing against anyone from the LGBTQ community, but it's clear that there was an objective that was seriously pushed down our throats the entire game. The scene w/ her and Dina was nice, nothing awkward like Abby & Owen (absolutely disgusting).

    The game is set in a time skip (if you can barely call it that with all the back and forths with the memories) at about 4 years from the end of the 1st game. If you enjoyed having a nice ending where things went well, part 2 will make sure that all hopes are crushed.

    Pros:
    - Gorgeous background
    - Nice lighting/graphics
    - Individualistic characters (quite a few are a bit beyond)
    - Voice acting is perfect......100%

    Cons:
    - All the badguys feel the same, it's the same handful of NPCs over and over until the game ends.
    - Constantly forces awkward situations and makes you bond with characters that they'll just kill for their amusement (seriously, you'll be upset)
    - The story is so awkward and makes you feel that murder is wrong, and Ellie shouldn't feel that way. Abby should PAY for killing Joel...
    - Combat is too simple, as the AI doesn't know where you are even in the most basic of hiding spots (usually poor)
    - Hopeless feeling after beating the game

    I still think Abby needs to pay, unfortunately she won't. Thanks Naughty Dog for ruining a fantastic franchise. I'd give them 0/10 stars if I could.

    Watch it on the internet and save yourself the trouble; this game is garbage. Got my refund from Amazon, just check "inaccurate website description" and you'll get your refund! **** you NaughtyDog & Neil Druckerman...ruined Joel & Ellie; best duo ever.    … Expand

    A dark, brutal and sad tale about vengance and violance with the possibility of redemption. Richly entertaining though and I can’t recommend it enough.

    1º Personajes irreconocibles y escenas contradictorias.
    2º Joel muere nada más empezar la historia, sin tener ni siquiera 1 min de gloria, de forma tonta, torturado y humillado.
    Quitándonos toda posibilidad, no solo poder jugar con el de nuevo, si no además de ver una evolución y desarrollo con ellie y joel y era lo que pedíamos los fans, así como nos dio a entender "neil druckmann" y los trailers (dándonos publicidad engañosa). Que joel muriera era algo que se venia venir y tampoco pedíamos que fuera de forma heroica, pero no al principio de juego, como mucho a la mitad o al finalizar la historia, lo suficiente para ver un gran desarrollo de estos 2 personajes.
    3º Entendemos la razón de abby, pero no podemos simpatizar con ella y esto es lo que nos obliga el juego, a querer alguien que no queremos.
    4º Flasback + Flasback + Flasback + Ahora ellie y ahora abby y así sucesivamente....perdiendo en momento el hilo de la historia y el ritmo.
    5º Una venganza sin venganza, entendemos el mensaje que nos quiere dar el juego, pero si recorres toda una ciudad, proponiéndote cumplir con tu venganza, termina lo que has empezado, es como ver a john wick o a kratos perdonando.
    6º Ellie se queda sola.

    The story reminds me of my own bat work from elementary school. Lots of holes and pointless plots. When you take a break, you can understand what they tried to say, but I haven't experienced it this bad. Worst story in a long time. Makes for weird gameplay, you are happy to lose. It sucks. The ridiculous added characters and groups. I could of come up with such a better story line naughty dog. I mean come on. The fact this gameplay is no where near as smooth and flawless as the first. They changed they way you craft and changed the ability to hear enemies, it’s not as good. Overall an honest score is a 2. I’m actually replaying the first after being so disgusted by the second and I’m relearning everything I LOVE about the original. Such a good honest story about compassion and love. The second is an agenda based load of crap. They try to create feelings in the game and you cannot do that. Anyways rant over I legit hated the game Also the first game took place over a year in all different states and seasons. This load of crap takes place in 3 days in Seattle... literally Seattle.     Love the story direction of hate it, this game is top notch. I know its getting a lot of 0 ratings but it doesn't deserve that just because people didn't agree with how they wrote the story. Sure my first play through i was a little taken back but as it settled a bit i have an appreciation for it now.

Unless of course you live and breathe for heavy, grueling and devastating emotional pressure that is. Fun and joy are not the goals here and I    I didn't like The Last of Us II.     Nobody were supposed to “like” this story. Unless of course you live and breathe for heavy, grueling and devastating emotional pressure that is. Fun and joy are not the goals here and I think majority rejects the game exactly because of the complexity of emotions it provokes. And naturally so. Nobody likes such complex emotions which apparently people have hard time processing nowadays and hard time facing the gray area of human existence, a duality and complexity we all represent. It is realistic and existential and it is damn hard. It cuts close to the bone to an extent that it is not fiction anymore and seem too real. Especially in times like these.

    But i believe it was necessary reminder. Naughty Dog were brave to do it so perfectly nuanced and on point. They did it very well. Public reaction is proof. They did what they wanted to achieve and not without fighting great doubts i believe. That is how true art is born, that is how things change and that is why they should be proud of their achievement even if right now it doesn't feel so rewarding.

    People need time to process.

    I want to believe that after some time The Last of Us II will get recognition as a great piece of art it truly deserves.

Abby and Ellie were on the same journey, just at different times. The part of me that loved Joel and Ellie wanted her to die, but the other part of me that could see her motivations, and how she evolved from that moment, made her one of my favorite characters. That’s not an easy feat to pull off, and her voice actor deserves so much credit for making me empathize with the character.     after waiting 7 years ....What a total disappointment in every aspect......after i finished the game i took the disk out through it and the cover in my driveway and burned it ......what were you thinking @ everyone at naughty dog and sony ....you destroyed this franchise!

    the game is game of the generation. It makes you feel conflicting , uncomfortable feelings and shameful of what you have done .its not usual feeling for a video game and that's why its amazing. Gameplay is also class leading. It is simply the game of the generation.

    Cons: Oh boy, where to start: 1. Story- i get what ND is trying to say with this plot, revenge doesn't lead anywhere, but they sort of made a game that is entirely subjective-you either like it or you hate it. I hated it.
    Next level violence, feeling of misery and regret of buying the game. The new characters are unlikeable, bland or just boring, repetitive gameplay and dumb UI. Giant plotholes, unoriginality, disrespect towards the OG tlou.     Ich habe sechs Jahre auf eine Fortsetzung dieser großartigen Geschichte gewartet und bekam ein Spiel mit einer der schlechtesten Storys die ich je gesehen habe.
    Positiv: Die Grafik ist klasse dass Gameplay toll aber die Story ist für mich bei jedem Spiel dass wichtigste und in diesem Fall kann ich nicht mehr punkte vergeben da meine Enttäuschung zu groß ist.
    Ich habe mir extra die collectors Edition für 200 Euro bestellt nun würde ich mir nicht einmal mehr die normale Edition kaufen. Ich glaube nicht dass ich es noch ein zweites mal spielen werde.    … Expand

    This game was an experience for me, I am judging it based on the experience, the story, the gameplay and graphics. I enjoyed it for what it was, a story that (I did not create nor did I have anything to do with the creation. )Really great. Enjoy this for what it is. A complete unbiased opinion

    Pure **** Done Playing The Last of Us 2.
    Pretty much disappointed, the only good thing about this game is the insanely good Graphics and the gameplay is quite fun.

    The last of Us part 2 is a beautiful game that takes too many narratives risk and not enough when it comes to gameplay. The known characters don't act like themselves and the new characters are either unlikable or canon fodder.

    If the game was not a sequel to a game with one of the best stories in gaming then it would have been recieved much differently. But it is so we need to keep that in mind. The gameplay is really good i enjoyed every encounter and it was a blast to play through. But what people wanted out of the game they didnt get. They wanted a story near the same level as the first's. And this just didnt cut. The stories main push was when joel lost at a golf game to Abby. And you are meant to hate her. Which worked too well in the beginning. When you have to play half the game as someone who killed everyone's favorite character it will be hard to get them on your good side. I myself ended up liking Abby more as a person, because Ellie has no redeeming values. Ellie kills everyone and has no mercy. Even when Abby lets her live 2 times, she wants to kill Abby. And even when someone gets her what she wants she kills them. When playing as Abby you meet Lev and Yara. Abby is in a war with their people and even with that she feels bad enough to want to save them. Ellie is too caught up on revenge i just cant get myself to feel bad for her anymore. Joel is still my guy though. And i assure you if we didnt play as joel and ellie in the first game alot more people would agree with me. And the whole game was for nothing. Ellie never kills abby and just loses everything for nothing. Which gives us, the player who played as Ellie no teal payoff. This game isnt perfect. But people are giving way too much hate.     The game leaves you with conflicted feelings and makes you question a lot of things.
    Simply put - It’s an Emotional roller coaster, with a great story that keeps you hooked throughout.

    A beautiful game indeed & a strong follow up to the original.

    This story is definitely not what anyone thought they wanted from The Last of Us 2, but it's daring, raw, innovative, and ultimately fantastic. I feel like it truly deserves at least 3 playthroughs before one can really appreciate it's greatness.

    I was scared at first seeing the amount of negative publicity this game was getting. I've been a huge fan of this series since the first game came out and I have to say, this game is beautiful. The story telling is wonderful, while there were many surprises along the way, the ending of this game left me wanting more! JOB WELL DONE! Dont believe the negative comments you see online.

    What a masterpiece. Incredible story, graphics and gameplay. Knowing what happens to the characters really changes the way you think about the first game as well, even years after it’s release. I loved it and wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Story. The Story. Yea. Maneater`s story vs The last of us 2 Story. Both have a female lead, both have a revenge plot, but 1 game needed 7 years and the first part as advertisement, while the other one came pretty much out of nowhere and does everything better, story wise, for less money. Tlou2 makes you play for over 10 hours as Abby, the female with an unrealistic body (she is supposed to have trained during 4 years in the apocalypse with low quality food, and i was thinking these devs know a bit biology after the first game, hence the nickname "Shehulk"). The "romance" is no romance and just a disappointing side plot, the cast gets killed without any grace or even a funeral. Its a "walk around and fight 4-5 enemys every 20 minutes" game with unlikable characters. Ellie however seems to simply get a stroke at the end of the game, making every death in the entire game pointless, but they all where already pointless, since Abby has a split personality, since she claims to NOT brutally murder those who SAVED HER LIVE. If you dont care about anything or dont understand what continuity is, like the writers, this game will be good for you.

    This game pissed people of big time, duo to false advertising and now, the manipulation of the review score. Weird that multiple thousands of reviews came in, after naughtydog had some conversations with people. This game is not bad by any means, but it doesnt deserve to be tlou2, since it didnt ad anything to the world and only took precious things, like the will to live for Ellie, i guess.    … Expand

Then came the part with Ebby that I hated mostly especial when i had to fight Ellie. Then came the secend part with Ellie I wished not happend, because I hopen she left her revenge like Ebby did. When I found Ebby and Ellie wanted to fight her no matter what, I hated Ellie. Ebby was broken and I didn't wanted to fight her. I was happy they stoped fighting and both gone there way.

    First - I absolutely hate that you travel back and forth in time and people through the whole game. At times i lost track on what the story mission was about.
    Having to play almost half the game as Abby, was extremely annoying - i person i disliked through the game.I bought this game because the trailers led me to believe that this was a new story with Joel and Ellie, going on adventure again...how disappointing?
    The homosexual feel throughout the game (not that i have anything against peoples sexual choices - just not something i can relate to) was annoying too.
    The endless cutscenes with Abby and Owen were dead dead boring and uninteresting.
    Very few characters (unlike the first one, The brothers, Bill, Tess etc) were interesting or had something interesting about them.
    Manny was one of the few with a little spark, and wit - but he was wasted, without Abby ever using one second to feel sad over her losing a good friend.
    The ending is a no ending, I'm sure ND already have a part 3 planned...im done with this series. I can play tlou 1 over and over again - but I'll never play tlou 2 again.
    The visual and gameplay are of course outstanding, some of the best I've seen - but i buy these types of games because of the story - and storytelling have been a huge problem the last 10-15 years in games. Even the last uncharted, was a thin cup of tea storytelling wise - half the game is just the endning in one endless long mission.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
