I understand why people are upset but, it’s just a game, and although it’s not the story I wanted, I still loved it and thought it was great. A lot of people who haven’t played the game seem to be against it due to the supposed PC stuff in the game which I didn’t see much of, there was tiny bits of it in the game. Also, Abby is not trans! If that’s the sole reason on hating the game then you need a reality check, women can be muscular too. Expand

The game is awesome. The graphics are the best of this generation and which is absolutely incredible. The story is not as good as the first game but still very immersive. The combat resembles the first game but you have a lot more ammunition to get hid of the enemies. Totally a must play game.

The last of us Part 2 is a masterpiece of Naughty Dog, it's risky and surprising in every detail, the graphic section is one of the best in recent years, excelling with the performances of each character which reach a new level of realism , also from around the world, and the best thing, we have working mirrors, all this accompanied by a brilliant motion capture
The sound is not far behind, the screaming, the shooting and every sound in the game is surprising and admirable
The Last of Us was made by its story and narrative, and this sequel is not far behind, delivering one of the best narratives in recent times, an incredible character development that puts us in context of the story and serves to Fond and understand them, and most importantly, humanizes them, I mean that you aren't the typical guy killing a zombies without receiving any damage, in this game, our characters are in constant danger and we see that they can suffer
The narrative is again the strong point of this sequel, the way of telling the story is so different and so original that, even though at first it may not completely convince you, as you play the only thing you do is understand and put yourself in the shoes who you control
A thread of events that perhaps if they were told differently, the game would not have worked.
An ending that leaves you melancholic that even if your heart breaks it is so real to what the thirst for revenge can cause
The game has some incredible action scenes, photographically speaking it's a visual wonder, the colors and lights are well controlled and go according to the story and the landscapes are beautiful and varied
All this accompanied by an incredible soundtrack that at times will make you feel melancholic at times and at others that will make you believe that there is still hope in such a world, since the musical themes are like a ring finger in incredible sequences and others dramatic scenes, but the game also knows when not to put anything in the background, as in a fight that is vibrant for EVERYTHING mentioned so far
Without a doubt a work that will play with your heart and that in the end makes you reflect and gives you a lesson with the main character
Without a doubt a more than worthy sequel for its predecessor

    SPOILERS
Without a doubt the only mistake of the game, is the death of Joel, he had to die in a way faithful to his character, I mean, that in the first game He would never have trusted someone he just met regardless of the circumstances, and here he gives him the name within a few minutes, in addition to being one of the best PlayStation characters, they must have made him a farewell, a scene or a monologue of the characters at the end of the game, something like a letter to Ellie talking to her or a scene from him with a good musical background that will bring us one more tear, a scene that I hope to see in a potential third and final installment
The end of the game where Ellie forgives Abby is a more than convincing solution for this game, just think about it, there are three very clear reasons, the first and is that the cycle of revenge would never have ended, because Lev would go after Ellie, and Dinna would go after Lev in an endless cycle, the second is that Abby forgives Ellie twice and the second time she shouldn't do it, and the third is that he She realizes that she's doing the same things Abby did to Joel
Many people dom't empathize with Abby because they say that the way he kills Joel is inhumane, it is, but we have to understand that Joel condemned humanity, although of course we still don't know this when he dies and that is why that we hated Abby at the time, but in a world without rules Abby was only taking revenge, or Didn't we enjoy torturing Nora?, because we still don't know why they killed Joel, all this narrative thread is so good because it makes us realize how bad each of us is and that we never put ourselves in the other's situation. We aren't interested in why, but we already act accordingly. One of the best narratives in history
Even though in the end the fact that Ellie could no longer play the guitar because of losing your fingers is so heartbreaking, it becomes a great example of how the game gives a lesson because this accompanied by the fact that the whole house is empty makes you realize of Ellie's mistake and it's just fascinating how we tell it.
I would love a DLC of Ellie going to see Dinna because it's something very sad even though it also serves as a lesson that we can lose everything if we become obsessed with something.
I would love to o see Ellie happy after all of this, since Abby is on the menu.
A third part is necessary to give a great closure to this great saga, as long as the quality of its games is maintained in addition, a trilogy has always sounded poetic, would be a great way to conclude with one of the best stories that history has given us, not video games, but art in general

Hate how they deal with the characters not respecting them at all just anyone you start to like or attached to it will die instantly, can't of course talk about Joel's death and how bad it is am not saying that he can't die its reasonable for him to die but not in that way and not in the beginning of the game like this, the story is poor and doesn't make sense at all, letting you play with Abby about 10 hours that character that killed Joel is crazy and letting you fight Ellie and show Ellie as a villain, and an ending that doesn't make any sense and open so that you can make part 3 ???and i hope you don't, the only things that i liked is the graphics and the gameplay and the sounds are done pretty good and the realism in the weapons and i loved the crafting table and how detailed it was loved the face capture of the characters and how they move is really realistic Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think I was too harsh and closed at first about this game because of the spoilers I heard about one of my favorite characters dying. As well as me having to play as the character who killed him and the story not fully continuing where the first one left off. However, after actually playing it I enjoyed even though it was pulling me around making me mad at some times. Yet, the story was unique, different and I liked it and I was able to actually start to like Abby as time went on. I understand why other people are getting upset about having to get use to new characters. While saying that there are some faults such as some characters do not have good enough character development but that can be over looked. I also feel like the continuity from the first game is a little off but thats fine if you are able to successfully create a new storyline with a theme. Overall I hope they create a part 3 and pick up on Ellie or Abby. Expand

The mechanics are incredible too, giving you vast amounts of options on dealing with combat. But above all, the story that's being told has to do with overcoming trauma, betrayal, and attempting to heal. And what happens to those who become blinded by vengeance. It's a very realistic journey Ellie goes on, and anytime you deal with this subject matter, sad and frustrating encounters will happen, such as people you care about deeply dying. This is the violent feral world that has been established in the first game, and many people who are upset by these very realistic consequences, aka characters getting hurt or killed, are forgetting the world this game is set in. If you trust Neil Druckman and go along with the story that's being told, crying when s*** gets sad, raging when Ellie is rightly furious, falling in love when things get romantic and playful, it will only be a more powerful gaming experience. That's what is so good about The Last Of Us, how powerful it is, and this sequel knocks it out of the park. Plus it is the most gorgeous game I've ever seen. Please go in open-minded, and trust the storytelling, this game isn't about feeling good and having a rollicking good time, it's about the real human experience of living in the wasteland of the apocalypse told through Ellie's eyes, and they definitely 100% achieve that. Many story concessions are made in order to create a narrative that challenges the player to reach deep down to empathize with actions and events that happen to characters that they might not agree with, but comes from a place of understanding. This is also a game that shares more with a show like The Leftovers rather than Part 1’s movie-like structure, such as The Road. I settled early on that the game works best when playing up to a critical cutscene, and then putting the controller down for the day, much like how I normally watch tv shows. This gives each section room to breathe on its own, and doesn’t make the game feel as overly long as I probably would have felt it I binged the whole game the day it came out. This may seem like me giving a pass for the game dragging itself out in order to pad run time, but I assure everyone that the game lends itself much better to an episodic format that the first game did, which came off as a story that worked better by playing in as few sittings as possible since the games story and characterization was condensed within a normal three act structure in a movie. Characters are given a focus by the writers and trials to overcome that stacks like tetris blocks that rise high enough that when the straight block lands perfectly to clear the board it provides this insane sense of emotion and payoff for trusting the writers and sticking through the brutal drama that follows the events of the characters. The gameplay is greatly improved from the first game by trying to keep its formula of “arena fight, scavenge, explore and scavenge new areas, repeat” until you reach a cutscene to break it all up. Even though I can break down the formula for the gameplay, that doesn’t lend the right amount of credence the game deserves with how natural and well put together the arenas are, and the improvements to the A.I. which challenges you to continually move and plan on the go, as opposed to being able to easily take down enemies with silent kills on maps with flat terrain and easily identifiable cover points that the first game often had. If I had one criticism it would be that the exploration side of gameplay tends to drag on because it can only offer the same few tricks for players. Prone and jumping have been added, and while it may not be one of those features that sets the world on fire, it is used to its extent to try its hardest to diversify the discovery of items, but safes wear out their welcome by the middle of the game, and become a harsh necessity if you want any of the upgrades they house. This game really does a fantastic job of evolving on not only the gameplay of the first game, but the story as well. The game really does wear its heart on its sleeve, and if you can let your guard down and trust the game and its story, you really won’t find a more emotional tale that can keep you engaged for 25+ hours and give you an emotionally satisfying conclusion. First of, I loved The Last of Us Part 1. The world and the characters were so believably
und well written and most people loved it for that. You dived into this world and it was
so exciting and thrilling! I was so emotionally invested in it, because I could relate and understand
the characters and I felt how they felt, they really grew on me.

This is not the case for The Last of Us Part 2 unfortunately.

But first I want to start with the positive things of this game.
The Graphics and animations are beautiful, breathtaking even.
I loved to explore and look at all the details and surroundings, it is really amazing
how much work was put into all of this!
The gameplay is pretty fun and very much like the first one,
if you enjoyed the gameplay from the first one, you probably will have fun with this too.
You can also play a lot with the difficulty settings and adjust the difficulty to challenge yourself
if you like that. I really wish I could say more positive things for this game, but it ends here.

The negative things are unfortunately the things that I loved the most in the first part.
The world, characters and their relationships. I wanted to see more of that and
you can only imagine how excited I was for the second part, hoping to see my beloved characters again and seeing another adventure with them.
But Naughty Dog had other plans. The trailers didn't represent the real game,
it hides a lot and even changed some of the scenes completely.
They even said "This game will honor Joel and Ellie".
After finishing the game I really don't understand how they can say something like that.
Since when is spitting on your characters and destroying them completely, "honoring" them?
I can't really trust Naughty Dog anymore after seeing everything they did to misguide their
own fans and destroying most of the things that their fans loved.

Our characters feel like they were swapped out, they do a lot of very uncharacteristic things
and I couldn't believe that the same writer from The Last of Us 1
wrote this story. There are a lot of plotholes and unrealistic things happening and
it destroyed the immersion for me, I can't dive into a game that is so unlogically written
and spits on everything that I loved from the first game.

The story and the ending is just pointless and sad, you lose everything.
This isn't a satisfying ending for this series.
It would have been better if The Last of Us ended after the first Part.
This is not a worthy successor.
I personally don't recommend this game for passionate fans from the first one,
but if you want to play it anyway, experience it for yourself and maybe you like it.
Unfortunately don't, I will just pretend that there is no Part 2, otherwise I can't really cope with this.

Sorry for typos, english isn't my main language.

In the worst parts of Last of Us 2, it is a 6/10. In its best parts, few as they are, it is a full 10.

So what drops the impression of this game? The new characters are weak and unmemorable, compared to the first game. The cast is too big to handle and too big to get invested in. Some of them feel like they're right out from "Until Dawn".

The second big con is the pacing. For large stretches of the game you are in a "Princess is in another castle" situation, with nothing worthwhile to reward your trek to your destination. You return to home base, then go out on another two-hour long exploration stretch to find - nothing. Back to base. Much of the main quest feels like a side quest.

Very small con: Why is there no Uncharted-style blindfire? That would be absolutely perfect for this game. At times, I found myself trying to blindfire, just to realize that this feature is not in the game. Patch some blindfire in there, ND.

Overall, a great game that will eventually recover its reputation. A must-play if you have a Ps4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly wanted to give this game a chance. I played the first game and it was a 10/10 story game for me and the gameplay was around an 8/10. So overall the first game was a great experience.

This second installment has been a complete 180 in terms of story. The game play is about the same. Only very minor things like prone, and dodging were added, while keeping the progression of game play completely linear.

I'am sitting here with having completed half of the story and finally having to call it quits. I cannot take all the forced liberal undertones the game blatantly forces you to watch. There is long drawn out cut scenes that make you feel stupid after watching. The only good character was killed off within minutes of playing. Story is completely predictable and zero thought was given to make these characters have any depth rather than stereotypical revenge rage. Sad that a good story was put into a dumpster.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of US Part II (TLU2) tries too hard to push liberal/ "woke" ideologies onto the players that the story of the game itself sucks. The story didn't make sense, was boring, and was hard to follow. After Joel's death, I couldn't care less about Abby yet the game makes you play as her for half of the game and pushes you to feel bad for her and see things from her perspective. But even then, I just didn't care about Abby. I just wanted to play as Ellie or Joel. I just didn't care about Abby and playing as her was just miserable.

The game focuses too much on Ellie and Dina's relationship and kept trying to remind us that they were lesbian and little on the fact that they were in a world infected by a deadly disease. The first 30 minutes of the game constantly reminded us of how lesbian they were. Compared to the first game, TLU2 was more like watching a soap opera. There was a love triangle with Jesse, Ellie, and Dina and Owen, Mel, and Abby. The story about Lev being trans didn't even make sense. I felt like it was just thrown into the game just to have a trans character because the game wanted to have some "woke" contents. All the main male characters were obviously killed except Tommy. They killed these male characters to promote female empowerment. Joel was made to look like the bad guy in the game.

Abby was masculine, big, unnatural and very disgusting and unattractive-looking. Abby looks like she's been on steroids for years. This was obviously due to ugly feminists like Anita Sarkeesian who are against women being portrayed in video games a certain way and weak men (male feminists) like Neil Druckmann giving into them because they are desperate for a crumb of **** They are against so-called "unrealistic" beauty standards of Japanese game characters. It's only unrealistic if you don't eat and workout right. By the way, Anita Sarkeesian is friends with Neil Druckmann and they met during the production of TLU2, which should have been a red flag. The sex scene with Abby and Owen was totally unnecessary. Notice how Abby didn't even consent and one could say that this game promotes "rape culture." Abby and Owen's sex scene looked like 2 gay guys having sex.

If Ellie wanted revenge, she should have killed Abby while she was tied on the pole rather than untie her. The fact that they had to have a little fight at the end was stupid. Ellie ended up letting her go. So what was the point of the story then? It wasted everyone's time. Joel would've killed Abby for Ellie in an instant.

When you go woke, you'll go broke.

The last of us 2 unfortunately doesn't have a strong story line when compared to its predecessor. The graphics were amazing (one of the best to date) and gameplay was great although there weren't many new additions to the gameplay. The game is still enjoyable with lots of places to explore and collectibles to find but story is a bit lackluster even though the game is heavily focused on the story.

The biggest surprise here is the gameplay, particularly the tense, frantic combat encounters. Play on high difficulty and don’t use listen mode — that’s how the game should be experienced. The stealth is the absolute best in any Naughty Dog game and perhaps my favorite in a big budget stealth game since MGSV. The open-ended design of the levels is both dense and expansive, naturally facilitating multiple play styles and keeping all of them engaging. Outside of the main narrative, of which there has been plenty of criticism (some deserved, some not), the actual world building and environmental storytelling are both top notch here. The LGBT characters generally steer clear of pandering and don’t virtue signal like, say, Steve in Mass Effect 3; regardless of what anyone says, the fact that one of the most frequently cited problems with the game is the inclusion of LGBT characters is, frankly, ridiculous, immature, and neckbeard to the extreme. What a silly thing to dismiss a game for, honestly. Expand

This game is absolute trash first of all they killed Joel my favorite character, you also have to play more than half the game as the enemy (Abby), and Ellie doesn't even kill Abby at the end. So if you liked the 1st game I recommend you don't buy or play the 2nd game because you won't enjoy it. And if they make a 3rd game definitely don't buy or play it. It will only be a waste of your time and money. Expand

Excellent character models, immersive environments, tons of small details thrown in everywhere to make each area feel unique. The digital acting is amazing, as well, and all the characters seem to move very realistically both in game and in cutscenes. The execution animations are brutally realistic, with flesh handing from faces and gore spattering in every direction, after a close range head shot. Arms being shredded to pieces, with ragged pieces clinging to the split bone from a shotgun blast. Blood pouring in fountains from a neck wound made by a switchblade thrust aggressively into the jugular. Not recommended for the weak of heart, but, absolutely high quality for the themes the game was going for.
Sound & Music- Again, excellent. The voice acting is movie par, making the characters truly pop to life in every instance. Enemy sound design is well done, as well. Hearing the stacatto growl of a Clicker from just out of your view, echoing softly through an enclosed space makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. The whistles of the Scars growing ever closer and more frantic as you take them out one by one adds a real depth to even the most basic of enemies. The sounds of melee weapons bashing against skulls, knives piercing flesh, and enemies gurgling on their own blood as they fall to the ground, enemies crying out for their friends or begging for their own lives as they crawl away injured, even dogs whimpering sadly when they discover the body of their fallen masters, are so well done, its easy to cringe when it all comes together. Environmetally, they really pull you in. Rain falling on different section of a car or different surfaces, sounds different, and exactly how you'd imagine.
Gameplay- There are many improvements from the first title. Namely, better enemy AI, the ability to go prone, more environmental options (i.e. smashing windows to draw attention or create new routes) and more open areas to explore and devise combat strategies within. One complaint is that certain sections drag on a bit longer than they should, and there are some underwhelming Infected encounters sprinkled throughout, but, as a whole, very well done.
Story- This will obviously be the most divisive section. As mentioned before, the digital and voice acting is excellent and serves the characters well. The overall story did draw together very well for me, with one particular section mid-way feeling very abrupt, initially, but serving more of a purpose to the overall story by the end. Your mileage may vary, depending on expectations going in, or what sort of stories you generally enjoy. Its decently long for a story based game (25-30 hours), and does tend to feel as if certain sections drag on a bit (see gameplay section), but, by the end it felt very much worthwhile. There are points where it felt as if they may have tried to include too much in the game, but, as a stand alone title, the story is head and shoulders above many other titles. Much like the first, the stand out elements are character moments spread throughout and moral quandaries. My score actually improved a bit after beating the game, and having some time to re-examine and think about certain elements of it. There will be differing ideas on the game logic, plot choices, presentation, or pacing of some certain situations, with no argument (positive or negative) really having 100% accuracy, unless you play it for yourself. I personally found many of the complaints presented for the story to be present in many other very well received titles, the first game included. The fact that this particular section will be either the strongest or weakest element of the game for most shows just how truly divisive the story is, and only proves that personal experience of it overrides hearsay. Overall, I'd recommend giving it a shot, and deciding for yourself. Unfortunately, review bombing and media controversy has skewed the scores fairly drastically (both positive and negative), so an overall consensus will be difficult to find. My final rating falls somewhere between and 8-9/10, with my guess being an average users experience to fall somewhere between a 6-9/10 rating, depending on story preference, No matter your opinion on story, the overall quality of every other element of the game is above and beyond what you could expect from modern titles, so I'd expect nothing less than that.

Incredible graphics, seamless cut scenes, great acting and some really scary zombie encounters make this an excellent game.

What elevates it to an amazing game is the way it challenges you as the player in having to play the game from your enemy's perspective. The only downside is the repetitive nature of the scavenging but that is a minor grumble in what may be the best game I've ever played. Epic

Ellie and Abby were great characters each with their own desires and drives. Both felt like the same person in what they went thru and how they coped with it. At the end I’m satisfied with ultimate outcome. I do still miss Joel but at least his memory lives on thru Ellie. As I was watching the gameplay I was amazed at how much emotion I was feeling through my apathy and anhedonic mental state. What is this withcraft I thought to myself and went straight to PS-store and bought the game.

Finally, I could feel something after months and months of anxiety, helplessness and lethargy. Watching Joel's daughter die and feeling myself get more and more attached to Joel and Ellie was something I hadn't felt in years. The game's amazing graphics, Gustavo Santaolalla's bittersweet music and the incredible plot gave me hope. It gave me hope for life, something which my entire existence had been lacking for so long. It gave me back hope to keep on fighting and resist the void that was in my heart. The Last of Us reminded me that there still exists beauty in the world and that there are human relationships in this world that are worth looking for and fighting for. Just like Joel and Ellie find something that they considered worth fighting for.

As I was finishing the first game 7 years ago I started crying. I was sad and felt the helplessness and apathy for life slowly sneak its way back into my mind. I knew that the comfort and camaraderie that Joel and Ellie gave me had reached its end, but I knew I had to let them go. They had taught me to appreciate life and not be sad. Life's not too bad kiddo, like Joel would say. However, in my heart I was still hoping and begging that Naughty Dog would one day release a part 2 so I could join Ellie and Joel on another adventure and this time in a next-gen console with even better graphics and an even better story-line.

Two days ago I bought Part2, and I couldn't stop playing it. Frantically moving around as Ellie and Abbie hoping to finally go on adveture with Joel and Ellie once more. Seeing glimses of Joel and Tommy brought warmth and hope back into my heart. Finally, my two best friend would be together, but the tone was off from the start, so I was unsure what to think. Ellie was acting funny and Joel was distant in a strange way, like he had lost his tough brutal mentality.

I finished the game earlier today, and I am left speechless. I have no words. As the credits rolled in, I reluctantly pressed the button to the PS4 disk and shakingly removed the disk out of the console. Carrying the disk to the kitchen I placed my hand onto the stove. I turned on the stofe started burning my hand. I was uttering "This is what happens when you have hope, this is what happens". With second-degree burns I place the disk back into its cover and head off to the living room. I sit on the sofa and contemplate. What now? Is this it? Was this the game that I was hoping and waiting for 7 years? Was this the game that saved me from suicide 7 years ago? Were these the characters that helped me realize that life isn't too bad after all?

I went back to my room and picked up the disk with its cover once again. Like Joel picking up Ellie from the operating table in game 1, I picked up my newly bought game and carried it over to my game collection. As I was walking down to the basement I whisphered in its ear. "listen kiddo, everything is gonna be alright, dont worry, I gotcha". Carrying my child down to the basement made me realize how much I loved my kid. My bond with this game was too grand to let it go, but I knew unlike Joel in the first game that I had to let go, but I just couldnt. As I was placing the disk besides The last of us 1 and being reminded how much emotion that game made me feel. I felt ashamed and sad for placing TLOU2 besides it. I decided that I couldn't. I simply couldn't let it be in the same room as this game. I took TLOU2 out of the shelf and ran back up to the kitchen. I turned the stove back on, but this time, unlike in the first game of The Last of Us. I let the doctor do his thing. I watched as the letters on the disk started to melt and drip slowly onto the stove leaving behind a tar-like residue.

I watched the fumes from the burning plastic take the shape of Neil Druckmann's name and as all this was happening, my girlfriend walked in. She asked me "what are you doing?". I told her, "what I should've done the first time". Together, we were standing around the stove, watching our adopted child disappear and be sacrificed for the greater good. Thank you Naughty Dog for making me realize that some things are not meant for this world. Some things are meant to be forgotten. Some things are simply meant to be forgotten. Some things don't deserve to have a place in my heart. This game is one of those things. I hope you got your social and political agenda across, because you ruined the only game that helped me see the beauty of life. Thank you. Thank you so much. I hope you are happy for my 60 dollars now in your bank. Thank you.

    Summary:
    - The plot is thought-provoking. Yes, there are more questionable story twists than we had in the first part. Yes, some of the characters are controversial. Nevertheless, it's one of the most mature stories for the game industry.
    - Visual graphics are stunning—the excellent final for the PS4 generation.
    - My applause to all the actors. All characters look and sound like real people. And yes, to all the haters of the exact actress. Grow up. Her role is the best in this story.
    - Music. Like in the first part. No other words needed.
    - Gameplay. Still interesting to explore and fight. Developers took some of their tricks from other games, like rope and grass gameplay from Uncharted 4, but it's great. These new (old) features freshened up the gameplay.
    - The team did an insane work with small details like face animation, physics, objects destruction, etc. You need to see it with your own eyes.

To sum up. Even if you find some characters, their decisions, or plot twists controversial; you still will be satisfied with this game. It's definitely not a zero/1/2 points like whiners say. If you love single players games, don't make them ruin your day. I wish everyone play the second part and enjoy the game.

I am fine with Joel dying, but the way he went out was out of character and poorly executed.

The worst part of the game was to spend +10h as Abby to "care" about her and her crew. Instead I went from hate to loathing the characters, I could honestly write a whole thesis on why they all suck. Fighting Tommy and Ellie was the most idiotic decision ever made. Why would you want to fight

The game is not a 0/10 and definitely not a 10/10. It has wonderful graphics, sound and gameplay. There is a lot of wonderful sections such as Ellie flashbacks, the rooftop scene, the Seraphite city, Jackson. However I would NOT recommend this game and ND should feel ashamed for their false advertisement.

If Ellie truly was the only playable character then the game could have been A LOT better.

Great game, complex and fearless with new goals, it's kind of hard to describe because it affects the emotional as a player and makes you hate the goal at certain times, this is complex. The gameplay is better than ever, the moves. are agile, which helps a lot in stealth and exchange and use of weapons. Amazing game

Every violent interaction is contextually grounded, so while at times it gets very first it never feels mindless. The characters are so developed and relatable that it says a lot for the future of gaming. For me at times it did become difficult, almost unenjoyably so, but the anxiety created only aided the storytelling. Clearly the intention.
A great game all in all.

I have given a score out of 7 out of 10 due to certain disappointing content but lets make this clear this isn't a bad game and I would deft say give a play until the end and make your own mind up.

    positive points:
    Stunning Graphics
    Amazing gameplay
    Large open world
    numerous weapon customizations
    Great Melee Fighting
    Long Game

    Negative Points
    Disappointing Story
    Characters not Likeable
Feeling cheated by Naughty Dog & lied too
    Various Game bugs & Glitches.
Not a fun game very dark
    Unnecessary violence

having played around 30 odd hours playing this game I can honestly say I feel cheated by naughty dog , as way back at the announcement of the last of us 2 trailer I recall Neil Druckman saying we care about these characters and we wouldn't do anything to them , hence in the first 2 hours Joel is killed by a very butch looking female by a golf club which was extremely graphic to blood spurting out of Joel's head , which I found was disgusting to kill him off in that way not only did naughty dog piss on the character of Joel but totally miss lead its fans , as I was expecting a better game and continuation from the first last of us , but instead we get a stupid ass revenge plot which a 2 year old could of written. If naughty dog was intending to do this kind of plot and be actually honest with there fans from the beginning , then the fans could of understood better as for mention there's a scene on one of the first trailers where Joel says to Elie do you think I would let you face them alone showing Joel's face to then the actual scene in the game Jessie repeats the exact phrase so again total bull crap from naughty dog as they obviously deleted Joel's face and replaced it with Jessie repeating that phrase.

Real shame naughty dog couldn't of treated Joel in more respect in giving him the death of like Arthur Morgan in red dead redemption at least Rockstar new how to respect there character instead of finding the most distasteful way of killing him. So I didn't enjoy this part and made viewing this very uncomfortable and if that was naughty dogs way of achieving this then well done naughty dog you did it well done three cheers , but for me playing the game I felt cheated and lied too.

Anyway lets give the game some credit the graphics are truly beautiful and all the buildings are detailed and there is many ways to explore each building collecting and scavenging as you go as you will need to be careful with your ammo as the harder you set the gameplay then harder it will be to find bullets and weapon upgrades so big tip conserve your ammo. I also like the melee fighting which feels fluid and with each hit and kill it truly does feel you are doing the damage as Elie is one bad **** with how she dispatches anyone who crosses her path to knife kills in the chest or throat with blood spurting out so again be warned it is very graphic

I did enjoy all the different weapons in the game to the revolver , shotgun , cross bow , to even a sub machine gun at the end so that was fun and you can upgrade each weapon on the weapons' bench spread through out the map. I found the game very detailed to all the level design to all the characters faces so much detail you can tell the designers worked very hard on this.

Lets talk about the levels and Zombies each level is very well designed and you can even see certain city building that the designers copied from specially noted in the Seattle map with lush grasses to all of the desolate buildings which some are very dark where plenty of the undead are waiting to pounce and there are plenty of different nasties to kill from the runners to stalkers infected bloaters shambles to one big ass baddy at towards the end of the game which i wont spoil.

If the story had been better written and the game was a continuation from Joel and Elle fighting the dead this would of definitely been a game of the year but due to naughty dogs bad story writing this completely ruined the game as the story plot didn't make sense was miss jointed from one side story flashback then back to Elle and to abbey i found it hard to keep up with what naughty dog was trying to portray as playing over 15 hrs. with one character I didn't expect and to be honest I didn't really enjoy as I kind of got lost with the actual subplot the ending was very poor and didn't really make sense and is not believable and then having played 30 hours I definitely felt cheated as I didn't achieve anything apart from frustration and annoyance of me wasting all that time playing.

So on my final thoughts would i say buy it well that's a tough one if you didn't play the first game and had no attachment to Joel I would say yes as the game as some nice points but if you are hoping for something like the same as the first game then I would say avoid as you will feel cheated like i di

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the best games I’ve ever played. Develops and improves on every aspect of the first game. Graphics are out of this world and the gameplay is fun, thought provoking, creative and challenging. The disrespect and hate this game gets for story moments are ridiculous. Yes, I was upset with Joel dying...but it fuelled a reason for a 2nd game. Did people really want Joel and Ellie doing nothing for the whole game? This was different, they took risks...the Internet didn’t get what it wanted and so people had a hissy fit. It justified a sequel and in my opinion, the sequel delivered! Expand

Despite what others said, the story is incredible. At first I was as angry as Ellie for what happened to Joel, but after playing as Abby, I knew that she was in the right, she had more rights to revenge than Ellie, even though I liked Ellie more, I was rooting for Abby during their confrontation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off, I played this game with high hopes, staying away from trailers, leaks, and reviews prior to playing it. I came to it no spoilers or information being given to me.

With that said, the best part of this game is the graphics and gameplay. The graphics are beautiful-- not matter how you look at it. The animations for the scenery is top notch-- running into snow and seeing it fall off a tree or leaving footprints behind you. Seeing a squirrel run up the side of the tree was amazing within the graphics. The audio also is really well done-- the gun fires and the sfx really create a dynamic environment.

The gameplay is fun in the beginning-- being able to duck down further than the first one allows for more variety in how to traverse the environments. Being able to break in windows and move at your own free will was the best part. There is one moment that you actually are able to roam Seattle and visit different areas of the map which was by far the best part imo. There are some issues with gameplay-- mostly to do with how it progresses. I loved the first half because I usually am the type to sneak around and kill enemies through stealth-- halfway through the game it sets it up so you no longer can do that. The stealth is thrown away for a stuck in a room and fight it out type style. I have never been a fan of these game set-ups as it takes away from how different plays engage with the game.

Now comes to the hard part-- the stories and character. As a member of the LGBT+ community, I am all for inclusion; however, the moment you start feeling like characters are a checklist of things the devs thought people would like-- it is a problem. Whenever I started to enjoy a character, they ended up getting shot-- this happens more than once. The characters from the past games are barely in it excluding Ellie. I would have killed for more Tommy and Ellie interactions. In the case of Joel, I understand that his death was going to happen. Putting it at the beginning of the game was a bad choice. You have little to no interaction with his character or even get to play as him. Not only that, but having a character spit on Joel after he is brutally murdered is like spitting on the original fans for like a white male protagonist. Ellie's love interest is manipulative and disgusting. The moment Ellie starts speaking of her ptsd, Dina shoots her down and tells her to "get over it". This is not a good portrayal of an LGBT+ Character. I had to look up Jesse's name because while I was interested in his character-- they killed him off after only an hour of interaction. Ellie herself isn't even similar to the kid in the first game-- she barely makes jokes and tries to make things lighter than what they are. I get that she is traumatized, but I barely see the little girl that I enjoyed from the first game in her character.

Then comes the worst decision the devs could make-- you begin playing as Abby the worst character I have seen in awhile. She has the personality of a cardboard box. You are supposed to relate to her yet she doesn't show any remorse or regret. Ellie accidentally kills a pregnant woman which makes her absolutely sick to her stomach compared to Abby who almost kills Dina who is pregnant because REVENGE without a second thought. You are supposed to feel bad when one of her friends calls her the worst person ever-- but I agree with the friend. Even after she has learned of her mistakes she goes and MURDERS all the people she knew from her group to save a kid she found a few days before. I don't even remember her friends name which shows how important they were to the plot. Owen is the only other character I remember the name to and he was just annoying. I did not nor ever do I want a love triangle in my video games-- it is an overdone trope that is tedious and boring. Most of the characters can pretty much be summed up to one character trait and that is it.

Yara and Lev probably had the most intriguing ideas behind their characters prior to them butchering their plot line. The idea of them running from a Religious cult because Lev wanted to be a boy? I would be far more interested in following Yara trying to escape with Lev then doing anything with Abby. The story of Lev having to murder his own mother left a bad taste in my mouth-- only to have Yara pretty much murdered two minutes later. The writing and characters are on par with the last season of Game of Thrones-- shock is more valuable than good character development.

All around the story is horrible. In the beginning I was okay with the revenge plot. It is over-done and tiresome; however, I could at least see some semblance of an idea. Once you get past that, it is a chore to work through the rest. The ending was also crap. You have Ellie saying she has to leave to get revenge, murder a bunch of people only to let Abby go.

    Go play Days Gone instead.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
