But the main element of The Last of Us that is story was destroyed, the Naughty Dog made fans of the game disappointed by the death of Joel, who was very remarkable character and who dies pathetically in the game. The story took a totally different turn than most players imagine, and made the game's narrative very political and boring. So doing the game The Last of Us part II, which was long disappointment for the people who played the first game. And finally, the game has many bugs of collision with the scenery and textures do not load.     This game provides good graphics but the story is terrible. I can feel that Naughty Dog wants to create a "unusual" and "deep" story but in fact it makes every character in this game unlikable. I cannot empathize with the characters, nor can I understand some of their actions or choices. Also, the astonishing sex scene in this game is really disgusting and ugly that makes me uncomfortable.

    I could only get through half of the game before putting down my controller. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future but right now I doubt it. Technically it's a beautiful game with a good atmosphere but the gameplay is basic and the story feels like a huge step back from the first one.     Where to begin... the only few things that would be considered great with the game would be the graphics and detail that went into the production. Which I'm referring to the gameplay and the scenery. Majestic. And that's as good as it gets.

    Before anyone complains that many people are disappointed with the game because of the LGBTQ+ themes, please get that out of your head. The fact that many characters are LGBT+ has nothing to do with how whack the plot is. However I do feel that the game poorly represents the LGBT+ community in many ways. But that's not the point.

    To describe the plot as it is without spoiling it for those who still want to look into it -- Just look it up on YouTube, don't spend $60 --, the game does a very poor job at presenting a revenge story as it should be. The choices you are forced to make leave you feeling like crap. Death is fine and many games are about killing, but the fact that Ellie goes through the entire game in search of revenge only to not to finish it (take that as you will), makes every other death in this game feel like useless. It makes you feel empty.

    It completely changes Joel and Tommy. No spoilers to their fates (though I feel you may already know), but keep in mind that they have been surviving in such a horrible world for many years. Now imagine having all this training of trusting no one and being careful only to have all of that down the drain.

    This game does no justice to its predecessor. Everything about this game (minus the gameplay) makes it seem like this game isn't even about what it was originally. It's bad. You ever seen GoT? The ending to this game makes GoT's ending seem like a masterpiece. The plot becomes linear, then diverts from what it was. I'm serious, the game goes in depth about a character's past and it truly doesn't help the plot. All it does is shove the idea this into your face for some hours: "This character has a different sexuality! Believe it!" and then it doesn't help the plot one bit. Not only does it poorly represent the LGBT community, it really feels like a political idea rather than the game it should've been.

    All in all, the only good things about this game would be the mechanics, the gameplay, and graphics. The revenge story ended horribly and made everything else that happened in the game feel pointless. The ending to this game feels like what you'd get for making horrible choices in games that have a morale system implemented. You will feel disappointed within the first 2 hours. The rest will feel whack. Everything about what it tries to represent is so bad at doing so. Joel would disappointed in Ellie. We all are. If you played the first game, you will understand that everything about this makes everything else pointless. It's disappointing and you will regret spending $60 on a game with a horrible plot. Sure, the graphics are nice, but not point in playing a game that feels good but has depressingly bad story. You'll feel miserable at every twist. The ending is depressing. Everything you do in this game goes to waste in the end.

    Don't buy this game. It's not even worth the $20 price tag it'll have in the near future.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most beautiful game graphically in this generation so far. The depiction of post apocalyptic America is top notch. Acting and sounds is also great. Something all of us expected from the beginning.

    Visuals and Productions: 8/10

    Story:
    The Last of Us Part 2 failed miserably on its story telling. Character's decision sometimes felt forced and out of their usual character making it feel like the story is rushed and lacked with natural development. Most of the new characters felt flat and
    not relateable. The story itself is riddled with plot holes that is sometimes plainly laughable something you do not expect after the success of the first game. It didn't also helped that I was forced to play as a character that I don't sympathize with. The ending made the whole game pointless, I just wish they gave players the choice on this one. If you like the characters of the first game, don't play this one.

    Story: 1/10

    Gameplay:
    The gameplay is very similar with the first game which I think one of the weaker parts of the The Last of Us Remastered (2014). Game stages felt repetitive and sometimes empty. The semi open world felt pointless story wise although I think it may add to the overall experience to some. What I like about this game is the comprehensive game difficulty customization which I hope to see more in future games. Overall gameplay felt boring and repetitive, and could easily be just a 15 to 20-hour game. It also offers nothing new compared to the first game which I didn't like, gameplay wise to begin with.

    Gameplay: 4/10

    Overall, The Last of Us Part 2 failed to lived to its hype. I love how the first game was grounded on realism and has relateable characters and story development, Naughty Dog failed to build on these, tried to make the Part 2 so different to the point that it is unrecognizable and forced.

    For a game thats 90% story based this is tragic. The gameplay is outdated and a bit weird, but the same case could easily be made for the first game, which I hold in very high regard. Naugthy Dog had every opportunity to make this a masterpiece. Clunky gameplay and an unfinishable story, this game is too hard to enjoy.

    So I feel this game is a 5/10, to some it might seem low and to other's it might feel high but I'll explain below.

    To start I did not enjoy TLOU2 personally. I didn't think it was a good game in terms of story or gameplay especially and the new characters varied from unremarkable to average. Pros: - Art style: TLOU always had a beautiful art style and this sequel is no different,    So I feel this game is a 5/10, to some it might seem low and to other's it might feel high but I'll explain below.

    To start I did not enjoy TLOU2 personally. I didn't think it was a good game in terms of story or gameplay especially and the new characters varied from unremarkable to average.

    Pros:

    - Art style: TLOU always had a beautiful art style and this sequel is no different, in terms of environmental design it is stunning at times especially seeing Seattle overgrown with foliage. You truly get the image of a civilization in ruins while traversing it.

    - Sound Design: TLOU was heralded for its beautiful soundtrack and ambient sounds and this sequel measures up to that. And while I may have personally preferred the original's soundtrack, that isn't a knock on the sequels. There were some truly inspired choices used and it is definitely one of the games highlights.

    - Character Design: With the exception of a few characters, the overall character design ranges from average to great for the setting it is in. It's nothing monumental, no truly awe inspiring designs but the ones that you do see are more often then not good.

    - Performance: Voice acting in this game is phenomenal with probably a single character whom I didn't feel the voice fit the character. Troy Baker as Joel is an absolute highlight again managing to capture the pained and conflicted anti hero and Ashley Johnson is masterful as Ellie making you truly feel what she is going through.

    Cons:

    - Story: I understand what they were hoping to accomplish with the story but for me and seemingly many others it fell flat. The story came across akin to a fanfiction written by someone who truly hated the first game, and that becomes obvious within the first 3 hours of the campaign where a formerly leading protagonist is absolutely disrespected with their legacy ultimately leading to nothing and their death being purely for shock value. And the character responsible for his death never reaches the sympathetic protagonist archetype that they were going for. Instead it does a disservice to the characters affected by it and the game suffers as a whole.

    - Gameplay: TLOU was never heralded for it's impressive gameplay but I had hoped that with 7 years under their belt, Naughty Dog would have managed to improve vastly upon what came before. Instead it appears that what we received was not even a refinement, but simply a few additions in the form of dodge and momentary incapacitation. This leads to stagnant and monotonous gameplay repetition that becomes tedious a few yours in. If you played TLOU1, you'll be familiar with the playstyles.

    Enemy AI: There is no easy way to put this, enemy AI in this game is bad, very very bad. TLOU1 had laughably bad AI at the time of it's release but even 7 years later with massive system upgrades the enemy AI is only fractionally better then what came before. For context I recently played through Watch Dogs, a game that was released in 2014. To me that game had vastly superior enemy AI as they had heightened detection and posted more of a challenge.

    Enemy variation: This is another area that suffered in TLOU2, the enemy variety is lacking, very lacking. And that along with the gameplay hurts the overall experience.

    Level Design: TLOU2 suffers from having to me at least very straightforward encounters. You are more often then not thrown into an area with only 1-2 ways to handle said scenario often resulting in the same outcome. The lack of variety to the levels as well as the above reasons makes gameplay tedious at times.

    Overall like I said, I did not enjoy The Last of Us 2 myself, I understand why some loved it and I understand why some hate it. But despite the pro's I listed, I can't get myself to give it any higher than a 5. I loved The Last of Us, but the sequel seemed to make it a mission to undo what the first game had built up resulting in characters I didn't care for, a pointless death which amounted to nothing in the end and sadly far too many missteps for me to rank it any higher.

    I have no doubt that the developers poured plenty of work into this game, but sadly I can not rate it any higher than I have. I hope they take the criticism to heart and work to improve going forward. Sadly I think it is time to let The Last of Us franchise end. This was an anticipated but unnecessary sequel that ultimately did more harm then good.    … Expand

    I've never seen such disrespect for a prior main character. I've played through the game and it isn't horrible but I wouldn't recommend it either. Buy it on sale or just watch a playthrough and safe your money.

    I was a fan of the original and I avoided all spoilers prior to the release of this game because I wanted to experience it for myself. I now regret making this choice. For those who are still considering getting this game I would say you're better off watching a playthrough online.

    Also, what's more absetting me is all the complements this one got from the gaming critics. All of those 10/10 scores is another example of fake media. Why would you guys give out a full score to a game which is not even fun or enjoyable to play with? I used to think IGN Japan has done something wrong with the 7/10, but know it proves how good and righteousness they are. This game should be a 2/10 instead of any other scores.

All might as well be stormtroopers for how much I care about any of them as individuals.
    -Relationships: If you can't make me care about your characters how can you make me care about them interacting, again the only character interaction that means anything is Ellie Joel. Ellie's new romantic partner . . . (who's name I legit forgot despite hearing it 20 minutes ago) I will call Token you can tell the team didn't spend any time writing her and she was just there to checkoff diversity quotas.
    -Music: This one is weird, as I actually like the score out of the context of the game, but I felt they using it in ways that was more distracting than amplifying in game, and I just don't think the musical director did a good job with choosing when to play what.

    The Ugly:
    If I wanted to watch sex I would watch porn, the scene feels out of place and I didn't feel it really did anything to tell me more about any of the participants.

But last of us 2 didn't do anything which works in the first one. This story is different then TLOU1 story, but it isn't dissapointment story, playble characters, crafting, infected and action stealth gameplay working nice. PlayStation has one of the best storytelling games ever.

So bad characters + plot holes = significantly reduced quality of game, despite the rest of the clear expertise that put together the other parts of the game.

    And no, just to distinguish myself from a lot of the other reviews that seem a bit too fixated on the LGBT characters, I do not have 1 problem with LGBT stuff being in games, that stuff does not bother me at all and I'm very positive towards representation.     If you liked the gameplay of The Last of Us, chances are, you'll love it here.
    If you didn't, however, it probably won't win you over.

    The Graphics are like next-gen, I've never seen a game that looks better and I'm more of a PC player, but something I like to say is that Graphics don't make the game, the gameplay does.

    As for the story, what I have the most to say about...
    So, The Last of Us is my favorite story ever with my favorite characters in all of gaming. Ellie's "It all can't be for nothing" Mentality and Joel's "You keep finding something to fight for" actually helped me a few times when I genuinely felt suicidal.
    With the Last of Us 2, they said that they'd be honoring these characters, and I was pretty excited.
    They basically ruined every last one of them.
    I'll start by saying that the leaks are all true. (All except Abby being Transgender, she's just really muscular.)
    Ellie says she's scared of ending up alone in the first game and in this one, she gets impaled by a tree and ends up alone, Tommy doesn't want to speak with her anymore, her girlfriend left her and took their kid, her father figure is dead, she can't even play the guitar that Joel taught her how to use because she's missing two fingers because Abby bit them off, and Ellie didn't even get to kill the person who killed Joel.
    Joel dies in the most out of character way too, he saves Abby (the person who kills him) which is something Joel would not do if it meant risking himself or his brother, then when they're at safety, they just say their real names when they were former hunters and Joel must know he's being hunted after killing an entire f*cking hospital full of people trying to make a cure for the infection. Then, when Abby says his full name, he never told Abby that his last name was Miller, so he would've immediately said something like "N- No, what? My name's Joel Franklin, what the hell are you talking about?"
    (Though, how she knew this was Joel makes sense. An Ex-Firefly told them that Tommy was there, and they know that Joel is Tommy's Brother because the group that kills him was Ex-Fireflies.)
    And, to add onto that, Ellie doesn't kill Abby because she has a kid with her, even though Ellie was willing to slit the kid's throat just to get Abby to fight her when Abby was refusing to, meaning Ellie could've easily just finished her off with a single shotgun round, and if she was worried about the kid hunting her, she could've done the same to the kid.
    I know killing a kid sounds bad, but you should see what Ellie does to the dogs in this game.
    Ellie stabs them, shoots them, beats then, lights them on fire, you can even make them literally explode.
    There is simply no way that this is honoring the characters like Naughty Dog said they would.

    There are good moments though, like the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie, like at the beginning where Joel tells Tommy what happened with the Fireflies, then teaches Ellie how to play the Guitar, Ellie's 15th (?) Birthday where she pretends to be an astronaut, I thought these were really cute.
    The one where Joel and Ellie look for Guitar Strings and Ellie almost dies to a Bloater was really cool, and the last two scenes near the middle and end of the game (If I recall correctly) where Ellie finds out what happened and has a mental breakdown, and the last scene where she says she was supposed to die there and her life "Would've f*cking mattered" were just amazing. After everyone who died to the infection, it makes sense that she would react this way.
    However, these are some of the only good moments, which there are very little of. This is not a compliment.

    I watched a No-Commentary Let's-Play on YouTube to see if the leaks were true and this game was actually worth buying and I want a refund.
    I did not buy this game, I did not even *play* this game, and I want a refund.
    If you are a fan of Naughty Dog or The Last of Us, please, save your money, stay as far away from this game as possible, and pretend that it doesn't exist, spend it on TF2 hats or CSGO crates or something because those are honestly better purchases than this game.

    The Last of Us 2 lacks the love and care that The Last of Us and it's DLC, Left Behind had in 2013 and 2014. At the end of the day, I'm really glad this game got leaked because it saved me and plenty of others some money that we can now spend elsewhere.

    And, before anybody calls me homophobic transphobic or racist since I've heard people are doing that with whoever dislikes this game, I just want to say that I'm dating two people (A Man and a Woman) and I'm Trans, so, please, shut up and get off your high horse, stop saying we're review bombing this because we're transphobic, homophobic, bots or whatever and just realize that this game seriously is not as good as you think it is.

Overall this game is story focused game not because graphics look good or anything. If story isnt well put together then it fails to hit its mark. Its has alot plotholes in the story, feels choppy and characters introduced just one and done. Then overall the story fails in me caring about the next hour of game or where it goes. Truly felt like Game of thrones season 8. It was confusing how characters acted and played out. Overall its 1 time play game for me.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
