This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Although the gameplay and visual aspects were improved from the previous game, the story did not surpass the first game. The way that Abby was introduced into the game was obviously meant to establish her as an antagonist since she killed off Joel so early on before we begin to become attached to her as a character. However, that is not the intended case as we play almost half of the game as Abby. This pivotal decision only served to divide the community as most players reached Abby's portion of the game with a unsavory sensation causing most players to not want to play as Abby.

When I played as Abby, I felt a sense of emptiness as I wondered, "Why am I being forced to play as a character that I already have a negative feeling towards?" Her personal story with Lev and Yara also felt out-of-place since it was never properly explained to the audience and the other characters of why Abby is so willing to help them. The only explanation we receive is either a short "guilt" or "I don't know" to Yara or Lev. It just doesn't make enough sense to go through all that trouble just because of "guilt". Furthermore, the sex scene with Owen was just extremely unnecessary and should have been cut shorter as it just made viewers extremely uncomfortable and does not help advance the plot.

Ellie felt incredibly driven for revenge solely Joel and no one else. When she hunted down Abby in Santa Barbara, it didn't feel like it was for crippling Tommy or killing Jessie, but was just for Joel. As a result, all it took was a flashback related to Joel to cause her to give up on killing Abby. This by itself also doesn't feel very authentic or realistic as it would probably take a mutual understanding between Ellie and Abby of why they killed who they killed.

If a story-based game had only mediocre graphics with decent gameplay, it would score higher than a story-based game with perfect gameplay and amazing visuals but only somewhat average story. This game is not meant to be a stand alone game, it was meant to be a direct sequel to the previous game. This means the story has to relate and be created dependent on the player attachment to those characters in the previous game. Had this game released as a completely stand alone game without any knowledge of who Joel, Ellie, and Tommy are, then the game's story would 100% be much better. The purpose of a sequel is to top the previous work, otherwise there is no point in the sequel.

It feels like two separate games. Just as the music hits a crescendo the record screeches to a halt and starts an entirely new song. You can't pretend that's good directing. I will say though the game play is excellent, the graphics are amazing, and I'm one of the few people who preferred Abbey's campaign over Ellie's. Abbey's just had more weight to it. The thing is though, I think the fact that all the critics reviewed this as being perfect (and many fan boys/girls) just shows how rose colored the glasses are of certain people. Sadly they are the ones who review games, and perhaps need to read more books and watch more films, because this game is far from perfect. Expand

The graphic is very good I give it 10 only for that but the story is 0 points. I played the last of us 7 years ago and I very enjoyed it because the story was good and it was funny the joel and ellie's relashionship. They were like father and daughter. So we waited 7 years for this 2. It doesn't matter the Abby's story and we don't want to play her. She killed the true main character in this game... We want revenge him. And you block us. Always. In the end ellie lost all while Abby won. So this is not the last of us... This game don't exist for me. Expand

This game is a masterpiece, an art. You can see how everyone has their own opinion about this game. It is undoubtedly magnificent in its own way. This game is a masterpiece, an art. You can see how everyone has their own opinion about this game. It is undoubtedly magnificent in its own way. How they manipulate people’s feelings and thoughts is outstanding. This is a game for mature and open minded people. It is not a closed boxed storytelling where you get to expect and feel what is right for your hands.

This is how the game divides gamers. This game shows a very deep and dark story making where people hate it because of the expectations that has been put into the game’s shoulder. Many people were expecting a sequel where both the protagonist Ellie and Joel continues a journey concluding to the closure of their dilemma on the first game. The game was bold enough to change it’s path from having a story of bonding and connection into shattered hope. The story was told into a setting where not everyone could/would appreciate it. The story gives different messages to the players on how they would take the game. Many says that this is a manipulative story but in my case it is... but also it is not. And that is the beauty of it. In my perspective, many games al throughout the generations were more manipulative that they ONLY subject you to feel happiness, fun and laughter. This Last of Us 2 however, still manipulates you but in a way that you may feel different from the conventional where you can feel fear, rage, anger, and feeling of revenge. BUT it can also manipulate you to the feeling of sadness and sympathy, or even contentment in some cases. Here we can really identify people who can really appreciate art from those who cannot.

Many people say that many of the decisions made in the game was so unrealistic. For me, I disagree. This game tries to portray real life humans. Yes HUMANS. Humans are not perfect, sometimes decisions are very vague and misunderstood. Unrealistic storytelling for me are decisions that always make sense, decisions that are always perfect. We can say humans portrayed in this game is perfectly imperfect.

Some issues to be tackled in the story of the game is the Tragic event that happened to the protagonist. It is really a heartbreaking scene. It really does get you to feel like stopping the game for some reasons. You may feel various types of emotions up until you progress. Many would say that playing a certain role in this game makes you irritated, puke or unsatisfied. Many would feel unfairness not only in the story but also in the gameplay. This is totally understandable feeling yet effective cause i think, the game made you feel what it is supposed to be felt. Life is not fair in all levels where they have perfectly shown us in this game. We as the players have to deal with this.

This game was rated 10/10 for me not only that it has a topnotch graphics, game design and gameplay which is perfectly lifted from the previous game with few enhancements , but also because the story is phenomenal, unconventional and tragic. Tragedy is a form of a story used by novelists all over the world. To introduce this in a mass spectrum audience, specifically to the gamers community is a bold move. However, in my opinion they gave us an outstanding piece of art. Which will only be enjoyed and appreciated by limited open minded mature people who knows good art and story telling.

Completely submerged myself into the world of the game even though I disagreed with the approach they had for Joels outcome. Not mad he died, just disappointed they didn’t give him a better send off. If they had Abby SAVE Joel it wouldn’t of felt so empty when she kills him RIGHT after being saved. At the end I found myself not wanting Abby to die, even though it was obvious what Naughty dog was doing with petting the dogs, etc. I found myself hoping for a third part. Horrible writing at times but overall, a great game. Expand

When i finished this game, I had that feeling that you don't know what to do with your life after. Have not had that feeling from a game in a long time. At first, I was upset from the leaks. I thought the game would be awful but im glad I had enough faith in naughty dog to play it. When I first played as Abby, I disliked her so much. But, she really grew on me as the game progressed and honestly, I liked her character a little more than ellie and im extremely glad she doesnt die in the end. Aside from the amazing story, the scenery is just gorgeous. One of the best looking games I've seen (and I dont even have a ps4 pro). Although, the ending i felt was a bit short, itd be nice if it showed what happened to Abby and let, if they reached the fireflies. And where ellie is going to go now that she has nothing and no one left. Just such an amazing game. I really gope they release a 3rd one on ps5 that has more of ellie (not as the main characters though) it would actually be nice seeing abby as the main character and having her and ellie come to terms with each other. Or at least knowing what happens to ellie through documents or word of mouth. But i think ellies story has been told and in a third game it would be nice to see someone else carrying the torch Expand

I'd start by saying from a technical standpoint the game is phenomenal and the gameplay is excellent, however TLoU is a game for its narrative and story charm and this one disappoints.

The story do away with the main character and start going in so many narrative branches to the point where it becomes a mess and in the end it accomplishes nothing.

If the first game displayed charm and hopefulness this one is all about depression, sadness and gloom.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where do I even start? Is it with the emptiness and despair i feel for the sad attempt at a deep game with no real depth?

Let me say this, graphically this game is a 10/10 and I mean every bit of that, they brought out the big guns for that. Sounds are on f-ing point. I cannot get over how well done those 2 areas of this are. Shout out to every single voice actor in this or person/s providing solid motion capture. People look and feel real, but that's where the positive factors end. Sadly.

The game play feels exactly like the previous entry with a few polishes to movement, but not much else. Gun play is ok, not perfect, hand to hand is as well. Overall it works so, there's that. Combat tends to get very tedious and repetitious, if you're tired don't play this game, you'll fall asleep. One new feature is you can jump now. Ok I guess, so now they've traded tedious dumpster and ladder "puzzles" for some rope and a jump button. Too bad I couldn't climb high, use the rope and jump. As Abby. Would have given some justice.

I wasn't expecting to be forced to play as Abby AKA She Man Woman Strong, for as long as they had us. I wanted it to be a refreshing change, spoiler, it was not. By the time I got control of her all I felt for her was disgust and hatred. So much so that I could only wait until I was collected. I don't care about you Abby. I don't care about your dead dad, I don't care about your lame friends. I don't f-ing care, die in a fire. See normally I don't mind a character change, as such a switch up of characters can help freshen a game and get me hooked even further. No this certainly wasn't the case. Let me end this portion of the review with this and no more than this. It's not what you did, that angers me so. It's how you went about explaining it.

The story feels so utterly rushed and forced that I had more fun yawning than following the repeated theme of ReVeNgE bAd. Ellie has become a giant C. Abby is a home wrecking hypocrite on steroids that 90% of us hate. Lev is trans because. I dunno why that's important but they say it is so I guess it is. Very proper of you ND, clap clap, so woke, clap clap, so deep, clap clap. Joel was laughably stupid, which we know him not to be, ya know from YEARS of survival previously established in TLOU 1. Naughty Dog had a golden goose in that, for reasons unknown they then beat it to death with a golf club to have a quick meal.

With regards to Abby and her massive gains.

Let me be crystal f-ing clear here. You do not just work out to get that way. You have to diet properly, proper nutrition is key. This is supposed to be an established apocalypse where a lot of things are very scarce and hard to come by. So you mean to tell me her group powered her up Altered Beast style, but only her? Oh ok. Makes. Perfect. Sense. SMDH.

There are strong female characters out there, both in shape and backstory. Some real and proper depth that make me want to see the journey through, Abby however, is strong for the sake of being strong and she is deep because Neil thinks she is. She is written to be a Mary Sue this game caters to. She gets hers, she gets the world. Our Ellie is to be made example of. I didn't enjoy watching Naughty Dog rape her, and yes, that's what they did. They raped her character and Joel's and through Joel, Tommy.

As far as the story goes? I've read pop-up books with more depth. I once "accidentally" lit my ankle on fire, I had more fun putting the fire out than playing through this train wreck of a game. Overall this game was ok at best. Some will love it, most will hate it. I give it a 3. 1 point in graphics, 1 point for sound, 1 point for accessibility options.

Bravo for the intentional mis-marketing of this game. You got away with murder ND. I hope you step on a lego.

I understand the anger and frustration people feel with this game, but I actually feel like over time people will begin to appreciate the true beauty and genius of it. In this world, things can happen in an instant. You can never expect something to go perfectly, and this case Joel’s death. Along with Jessie, etc. The irony of Ellie and abby’s stories being almost identical is incredible. It sends a message of reality and different perspectives! They both did the right thing, going after revenge for their fathers right? In this story neither of them are in the right. It’s funny because I absolutely adore Joel in every shape And form. But he wasn’t the best man in the last of us 1. He was older. Softer and comfortable in the second one. He changed, but it wasn’t all puppies and rainbows. A lot similar to the first game but with more different moves such as jumping in the air to kill an enemy below and more. Weapon upgrades as well as skill upgrades are also nice and great with character mannerisms. When it comes to story, well just like the first game is a masterpiece. The new cast of characters are just as well written as the ones before, each presenting different sides of Ellie & Abby just as much as the world of The Last Of Us. It is definitely a dark story but in a way that is a fitting sequel, the writing in this game at first glance looks quite risky but it works. Showing in depths Ellie’s regression throughout the game as she becomes the immoral man some call a monster, Joel and Abby as she finally finds her father’s murder believing killing him would end her pain but no a part of regretted what she has she done and kills another part of herself as she carries her guilt which at first even goes further and reach Yara & Lev as seen in her dream, but she is able to find her way in the end with Lev, this is her redemption arc. Ellie struggles to live and not do anything about her Father’s death so she goes on a vengeful journey eliminating all WLF members that entered Jackson before until she reaches Abby. I love how they tease us the players with a happy ending for both Ellie & Abby and just get swept away fast reminding us this is The Last Of Us. For Abby and Lev is the rattlers getting them outta nowhere and torturing them and for Ellie her PTSDand Trauma gets stronger and stronger eating her soul but then Tommy arrives reveals where Abby is and Ellie goes out one more time for Revenge in the end she spares Abby because she was able to resist and see Joel and herself in Abby and Lev as well understands why she did this in the first place. Ellie still has her humanity, she realises this is not what Joel would want for her, he would want her to be free forgive let go of him and move on. She comes to the conclusion she went this path trying to be like him and it did no good for the people around her. I Hope we get a Part III where is about Ellie’s redemption arc. Thank you Neil Druckman and the whole team behind this, already beat the game twice right now on holiday can’t wait to get back home and play through a 3rd time but on Survivor this time. Expand

I loved the variety of areas to see and the length of the story was more than double the first game. Some may complain about the length as dragging, but it honestly feels like two games in one and I took my time playing it so it never felt particularly dragging for me. I was really happy to get such a complex and lengthy story out of a Naughty Dog game where most of them are significantly shorter.

I absolutely loved the game. I really don't understand the criticisms of the story. It's a story of revenge and the actions of the characters lead you down a brutal path that leaves you feeling conflicted about them and that's intentional. People complaining about Ellie's actions or the other character you play as seem to be ignoring the actual underlying story or something. I really liked the second half of the game where you switch to Abby and see her perspective on things, her own personal drive for revenge is nuanced and her allies that Ellie ruthlessly kills get their own level of attention that shows they're not all horrible or evil, but just humans trying to survive like Ellie. I loved the world-building and getting to see from the perspective of the bad guys (both the WLF and Seraphites).

The story is original, and truly leaves the player with a message. The acting is great, and is helped by the incredible animation. The boundaries this game pushes are astounding. The portrayal of ellie and dina's reltionship is beliveable and makes the player love the characters even more. Abbys half of the game begins as a painful struggle, but the player grows to love abby as well, leading to a painful choice. It forces the player to examine themselves and whether they have the ability to cope with loss.

Also the game is great cause it follows the ancient laws: be gay, do crime. Ellie is gay, and she does crime. 10/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Like many others, I loved the first game and had no doubt that Naughty Dog would deliver another great Game. Unfortunately that was by far not the case, furthermore they ruined the series.

We had everything, but instead of evolving the characters and the story, they just had to push their agenda with everything they could.

One of the most loved characters from the first game gets killed off almost immediately after the game starts and sadly in such an unbelievable stupid wayu, only for them to have their little "revenge" story. Instead of talking about the new enemies or what just happened, the characters rather talk about their relationships or how the kiss was/what rating they would get or how they would love to smoke something right now.

The new side characters will CONSTANTLY talk to you about their feelings and stand in the way most of the time, which ruins the experience of the world because they only react if enemies are nearby, which means you don't have to be carefully if they aren't

Gameplay wise, you can go prone now, that's about it. Years in the making and that's everything innovative? Besides the revenge story, their isn't really much to talk about, sure you have these new fractions you never heard of before, but besides going on a rampage, ellie isn't too interested.

Besides the awesome graphics and the great voice acting there isn't really much positive left of the Masterpiece The Last Of Us 1 was....

Abby's segment was by far the interesting thing about the game, after playing and get to know more of her, I really liked Abby more than Ellie, which I could have never imagined before playing the game.

You just won't recognize Joel and Ellie anymore, because Naughty Dog changed almost everything you loved about them.

Just really poor character development in order to fit the new agenda.

All Men act stupid or don't see the trap they easily avoided in part One.

Overall I really wished I never played this mess, 30+ hours and all that is left I disappointment how you can kill a franchise like that.

Ps. Declaring all negative feedback as Blind Hate is just ridicules and shows how blind and arrogant Naughty Dog has become.

TLOU wasn't groundbreaking in terms of graphics or game mechanics, but the story and acting really puts some films to shame. But you get none of that here, the bond between Ellie and Joel was pushed to the back seat in this sequel as another seemingly agenda that ND felt was important was force fed to us gamers in a crude and in-your-face manner.

ND did an amazing job recreating Seattle and I give credit where credit is due; it's absolutely breathtaking and a visual treat. The motion capture was out of this world and it's the little details such as Ellie's bag and its zippers swaying as you move, the water dripping off from the point where after Ellie was soaked and every time after you visit the workbench, how you have to reload again because Ellie cleared the weapon before tinkering with it. Enemies' brain matter splattered all over the wall after a headshot and in this aspect, it was extremely well done. This was what made TLOU2 bearable for me to push till the final ending.

But all of that quickly fell apart when the number of plot holes are just staring at my face and begging for me to write this review. It's painful and what a big shame really, I bought TLOU on both the PS3 and PS4 (Remastered), completed at least 10 times and dare I might say, it's a masterpiece and one of the greatest games of my generation. But not this title they pass off as a sequel.

The story-telling was extremely disruptive. Every time the story gets deeper and you start to spot plot holes, understand these characters (and there a ton of new characters) Bam! ND throws you a flashback and you have to swing your thoughts again. It's as if every time you are getting close to a plot hole ND throws you off by making you play these flashback sequences. There simply wasn't enough time for me to relate to these characters and that was when it all start to fall apart. None of the characters are likable because ND made the pace so disruptive and one moment you are here, the next you are there.

I can forgive the lack of innovative gameplay, adding a jump and a rope swing in 2020 is like going back to 2010s and saying, "hey we have 3D models now!". Because TLOU isn't about industry changing mechanics, but the story. And oh boy, what a disaster with the story.

By now you should be aware of how we were all led to believe that things won't happen the way it would and unfortunately this was the biggest mistake of ND in TLOU2. I felt that if they really want it to happened, it should take at least 2,3 more sequels before doing so. Just because it took 7 years in the making, doesn't mean gamers will just forget what happened in TLOU. You can't just destroy something so beautifully created in TLOU in this sequel, force us to like these new characters that have no personality and in such an abrupt manner. We purchase things because we expect it to work the way we want to, not because the manufacturers have a new social agenda and want to mislead us through deception and censorship. Imagine you are at your local store looking for this brand of utensils you've heard so much about. They advertised it as long lasting, high quality and just what you'd expect from a AAA brand. You picked one up, it does looks like high quality material, you'd expect it to last and was happy with your purchase. You go home and suddenly inside the packaging the manufacturers say it's made of biodegradable material that will degrade by itself in 3 - 6 months depending on how frequently it's being used. False advertising.

However the ending was what really felt like a slap in the face for purchasing this game. It's as if ND hated this franchise and want this IP to go up in flames. It was akin to spitting on us, spitting on the franchise and giving a big **** you to all.

Note that game shops in Hong Kong and Taiwan are literally giving away TLOU2 for free if you were to purchase 3 other games. The used marketplace is literally flooded with this and stocks are stagnant.

Sorry ND, you done ****ed it up this time.

I have NO idea why other reviews are so low. My guess is they take ONE negative element from the game and score the ENTIRETY of the game so low, that it raises eyebrows to the people who have never played it. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’sI have NO idea why other reviews are so low. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’s the way the story is told, and who are WE, the players, to decide what the story should be? In life itself, things don’t always go our way in our own story, so why should that be in a video game?

With that being said, the only real part of the story I will have to discredit is the ending. It feels empty and leaves a lot more to be desired. In fact, if they could chop off about two hours of gameplay from the end, I would have happily given the game a score of 10 out of 10. The graphics are immensely gorgeous, and very convincing. Shooting enemies and blowing chunks of gore off the bodies are incredibly satisfying. The infected, with a lot of the same types of infected, are just as frightening or more frightening as the previous game.

The expressions and emotions that the characters convey are absolutely realistic.

This game does not deserve the score that it’s been getting from other critics.

So I will give it a solid 9 out of 10. If you are unsure about buying this game, just buy it! You will not be doing yourself any form of disservice.

I thought ND gave a themselves a unique challenge of trying to humanize what seemed to us to be a monster. Thereby, making the gamer feel conflicted about his or her own feelings in regards to which of the characters are justified.. Unfortunately, they didn't execute that flawlessly, so you ended up with half baked empathy for Abby (and most people still being team Ellie). All in all, I respect a good tragedy. Joel literally yells “Hey I’m Joel Miller the guy who killed your dad and ended the fireflies”

The first game concentrated in zombies not the humans but in the sequel it’s like they forgot them

I gotta admit the gameplay is good and the graphics are phenomenal. But it’s expected when you take 7 years to make a game with so much production hype and followers. This triple A title game is a political message rather than a game you would enjoy playing. Abby is the worst character created, her timing within the story is pure garbage. And they seemed to add along the way that she is trans, just to fit a ‘trans’ gaming audience. But why? Just because of the plot, I couldn’t enjoy the game, there was no drive no purpose for me to continue and hence the 0 star rating. The game is a waste of money, and the coders for the game have been more oppressed than any trans person I know. They had to watch the story writers Anal rape the game in front of their eyes. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, my review is probably closer to a 7 but I also think this user rating is absolute garbage by people who never played the game and whose main points of contention comes from "I dOnT lIkE aBbY" "ThEy KiLlEd JoEl So ThIs GaMe SuCkS"

That all being said. The game has a handful of issues, much of which revolves around pacing amd timing. The gameplay itself is more of the same from the last of us. Their are new options and enemies but overall it is just as good if not even a little better than the first mechanically. Where the game loses its three points is the story. Don't get me wrong, the story it tells is actually a good story. There is a through line of the concepts of revenge, it's outcome and it's impacts. They specifically are crafted to show us that the only real difference between the enemy and the hero, is who we have more emotional investment with. They dropped the ball a couple of places to really make this message sink in. However, you aren't supposed to like Abby in this game. Just like in the end, you're not supposed to like Ellie. The main problem comes with pacing. They waited too long for us to take control of Abby. I think the game would have improved greatly if we started as Abby during the "tutorial" section to learn to play, then jump to Ellie for the start. Then we should have swapped day by day with the two characters to get more connection with Abby. They also could have held off on Joel's death until we have some connection to Abby. With those two changes I think this game could legit be an 8 or even 9 out of 10.
However, I do have to bring up the token trans character and their treatment of them. (I am NOT talking about Abby! Abby is never said be to be trans in game and is never talked about in that way so wether or not she is, is irrelevant. She is a woman in game. Period)

The Non-binary child in the game is, in all honesty, nearly tortured emotionally more than any other character in this game. The game is not a happy one but when you are introducing character into your game who are not widely represented, it may be important not to have your character be tortured, forced to kill their own mother, and watch their sister get their arm cut off and then be shot... I'm not part of the NB community so that's just my take but I've heard a lot of people not happy about this portrayal.

So over all it is a generally more than good game with a couple of flaws that brings it down to the slightly above average zone. Any of the massive negative reviews are suspect (as I would also day is anyone who says this game is perfect!) If the scores wouldn't be bombed because of people being reactionary, this game should probably get a 6-8 score. So until it's in that area, I'm helping to bring it up!

a story with plot holes and forced characters without a doubt the biggest disappointment this year, I hoped it would be revolutionary, it was not, the development of the characters was very forced as well as the end, get better writers, in short a tremendous **** l.

    Valeu a pena a espera ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed the last of us 2. I felt extremely happy and sad for both parties in the game, and wanted both to prosper. However there resentment towards each other completely consumes them and because of this both parties lose everything except for their lives. Everyone who says anything bad about this game has opinions rooted in homophobia, sexism, and closed mindedness. I am certain that if you were to have a conversation with anyone who says anything bad about this game’s story you would realize that the opinions of the majority are full of bigotry and ignorance, and they would inadvertently lead you to buying the game. This game has two significant aspects to it that earn it high praise, in my opinion - the technological advancement, and the narrative complexity.

To tackle the less complicated aspect first, the technological advancement of the game is undeniable - considering the game is on the platform that is now regarded as outdated, the strides it makes in the amount of detail, polish, and performance are incredible. The level of accuracy of physics, motion capture, weapon mechanics, sound technology, and lighting are miles above comparable AAA titles released this year on PS4.

To speak on the narrative spoiler-free, I will say upfront that when I finished my first playthrough of The Last Of Us Part II, I didn't 100% understand it. It left me emotionally drained and confused for some time. But it took thinking about the story just a little deeper, as well as refreshing my memory on the first installment of the series, that the storytelling of the second installment, shallow at first glance, started to unravel.

If you see people saying, "The plot fo this game is basically revenge is bad," I would safely assume they finished the game and never bothered to think about it any more than they had to. It saddens me that today's consumers expect to be fed direct and clear narrative off the bat and don't bother to analyze anything.

The truth is, there is a reason that the name of this installment is "The Last Of Us Part II" and not "The Last Of Us 2". It is not a new ark for the characters in the story - it is a continuation, which you have to keep in mind to understand what it is about. The point of the story, the motivations, and torments of the characters are directly connected to the first game.

So, as a piece of advice, before playing this game, refresh your memory of the first one. Take some time to form a solid understanding of its characters before taking on Part II. Because if you don't, you might not enjoy your time spent with the game and be left just as confused as I was when I first played it.

Overall, this game is very, very good. I would personally call it a masterpiece, even though I know a lot of people would disagree with me. It has certain flaws to it, but in my opinion, they are outweighed by its strengths, which is why I give it a 10 to recognize the amount of work and passion that the developers poured into this game.

Best game ever. The Last of Us Part 2 is by far excellent. The story is not for everyone for sure but amazing none the less. Seriously play this game for a really different type of story! If you have troubles with this game, just stop for a sec and put yourself in Ellie's shoes. You can read Ellie's journal to see what she is thinking during the course of the game.
The gameplay itself is a bit of the same as the first one but now it feels a bit more realistic, combat is way more challenging and even greater in higher difficulty. But you can decide if you want to have certain aspects of the game be from lower difficulties such as supplies or enemy AI, but you would definitely miss out the experience. Visuals by far the best so far.

The game itself is a mirror of the first one. The first one introduces us to this terrible world and shows us the kindness and innocence in it. Part 2 on the other hand lets you experience the worst of this world without holding any punches back.

This game asks itself: What if one of your loved ones suffered a horrific act of injustice? How would you feel? What would you do to seek justice? How far are you willing to go? How easily would you go down this road? and finally (in terms of the first game): After everything you've been through, everything that you've done. Was it worth it?

The story will make you feel such hate against the antagonists, and just as in the trailer I even told myself that I would find and kill every last one of them. The first half of the game you carry around this mindless sense of hate and anger just so at a climatic point you are then stopped. Then the game continues at the beginning of the story just that in the shoes of the antagonist.
Of course, as everyone this totally seems like a bad joke at the beginning and you completely hate the idea but you are now stuck with the antagonist. While this might seem horrible is actually what makes this game great.
By the time you start the antagonist’s story you hate her, and probably will even die on purpose. But as the game keeps on you get to see it as person rather than this all evil entity. And that’s the point of it. Her story is not meant to make you like her but to humanize her, and all the people you were hunting at the beginning. You learn their likes, their dislikes, their fears and you see that as everyone she is capable of horrible and selfish acts but also of the kind and selfish ones too. Just as in real life, not everyone totally bad sometimes we just can’t see it, or even worse, just don’t care.
Both protagonist and antagonist are opposites yet equals.
The clash between both is my biggest problem but it makes you see the protagonist’s darker side aimed at you.
By the end you will meet yourself with sort of a fake ending and then get the real climax of the story. And the brutality of it does not give me words to describe it.
In a nutshell: the story is kind of watching someone you care for, get hooked up on a substance and watch them hit rock bottom and hope they change.
Again, this is no joy ride although it has a few nice moments.
And after discussing the game what you can take is the obvious message of the game but also that: A selfish and violent act is contagious but also a selfish and kind one.
By the end I was faced with mixed feelings and tears.
Some might have an issue with deaths in this game, saying they are not worthy for characters, and for that I got to say, that’s death. If you have a problem with it then you don’t remember the first game, and the game makes their characters really realistic in this sense. No one is special, you can go however and whenever even if you are the protagonist.

Finally, I would like to say that Naughty Dog did it once again and made an amazing game. They told the story they wanted to, however they wanted to and this game is honestly a masterpiece hands down.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
