The Last of Us 2 is basically just a bad movie that's $60. Gameplay is minimal compared to other games. Story is uninteresting and characters feel un relatable. Graphics are nice but that's about it.

Almost all spoiler free; Very minimal events talked about that you wont understand even if you thought about it.

First off the game looks absolutely amazing. If all you care about is looks this game will not disappoint.

The story is just OK as a stand alone game, but taking into account the first game the story falls flat as a sequel. The main cast is no longer likable and you will more then likely hate them by the end. The end is just terrible.

The fist game had its faults but so much could be overlooked due to the lovable cast. This one is brutal and does not have that in it.

We also get sequel baited? This game as a standalone game would be worth a buy, however it is not. ND made this a sequel to one of the most beloved new IP's ever. More was expected, and while I can say they took risks, one would have to say they failed.

    Pros:
    -Graphics
-Combat ; some hate it but I still enjoyed it very much, if you wanted an evolution you did not get it but you do not need to make changes for changes sake it fits the world very well.
    -Crafting system
    -Getting to play Ellie again
    -Voice actors are top notch
    Cons:
-New characters are not very likable, having to play someone who I hate after 2 hours of game play I did not find fun. Should of led with the second half where we learn about the history before you had the event I am talking about. Having me hate them and trying to get me to like them is so much harder then having us learn and fall in love with them first. It would of made the player think so much more about the events rather then **** this person" that I think most will feel.
-pacing is everywhere, to many switches
-way to long, the game could of been 12~15 hours just like TLoU 1
-Story is just not very good once you look at the first game.
-So many "Deus ex Machina moments": the number of times someone should of died and got out of it UGH. Please keep this to just a few times people!

This game is all about story. And it mostly fails at it. If this game had not been a sequel I could likely place it at a 7/10 Maybe an 8 even. But its not, the game does not respect the first game at all. It be like if Iron man 2 killed Tony off in the first 15 minutes then had Pepper go on a revenge story, become a total loser, and follow it up with the murderer becoming a "hero" or likable person at least.

If you want to get into the last of us IP start with The Last of Us 2. And follow it up with the prequel (the original Last of Us) You probably will enjoy the second and fall in love with the first.

Also, it's entertaining as well, plays very similar to the first one, but it's just way WAY too long, almost 30 hours to complete. The gameplay is not varied enough to avoid repetition after so much time spending on crafting and shoot down infected enemies and patrols. It seemed endless!!! What really kept me going on was to find out what would happen and shock me next in the story.

Even so, I had a good time and it's worth a play, especially for those who enjoyed the first game, but I don't see myself playing it again, ever! It's just way too much.

I was thinking about giving an 7 out of 10, but the production value is so mesmerizing that it deserved to earn an 1 plus! :D

TLOU was such a perfect microcosm of a phenomenon this was always going to be a tough road for ND.....I enjoyed playing through TLOU2. It took about 29hrs and I took my time to poke around the highly detailed environments. While the core gameplay is very well put together, and the dialogue is excellent here, most of the story beats felt like a miss for me.... I simply couldn't get behind the characters un-darwinian decisions as most of them involve characters in the story making completely unsafe moves that threaten the safetey of their groups and in a post apocalyptic survival situation this felt off...(which is tough given the whole plot of the game banks on the audience routing for the characters need to get revenge at ANY COST). In some ways, having characters carry over from TLOU felt like a crutch and dragged plot pacing down. The story felt at its strongest when it focused on the newer characters for me. Also props to ND for not 'overwriting' the LGBTQ+ characters, TBH it was so well written, I didnt even give it any thought. I cant help but feel the main story beats would have landed better if they had a linear rather than 'chopped up' time line.

Neil Druckmann said that some fans of the first game wouldn't like the 2nd one. I think it was Troy Baker who also said that people would either love the game or hate it. yo no veo a Abby como relleno, más bien todo lo contrario, es la protagonista.

The brutality is exactly what I'd expect the human race to crumble into from a world ending event. It's an emotional roller coaster. There is so much misinformation about this game, to clarify Abby does not appear to be transgender, there is certainly nothing to suggest it after the 'tracking' chapter. And what I got was an incredible experience that haunted me for days, and still has me thinking about it even a week later. Though it's not horror, it's one of the darkest games I've ever played. It made me do things I've never done in a game before, things that were extremely uncomfortable and heart-wrenching. If the goal of Part II was to elicit emotion from the player, then it's a resounding success.

Having looked at some other reviews now, it seems that that emotional discomfort really bothered people. Whereas for me, I was in awe that a game could make me feel this way. Naughty Dog could have easily given fans exactly what they wanted, a play-it-safe sequel where nobody we care about dies, and everyone lives happily ever after. But that's not how life works, especially in this ultraviolent world they've created. Without spoiling anything, Naughty Dog took a big risk with Part II and I couldn't be happier about it. There's simply no other AAA game that has done before what they accomplished. The story is immense, complex, and daring.

The Last of Us Part II is revolutionary. Not only in its multi-sided story-telling, but also in its mechanics and meticulous attention to detail. Every moment in this game is screenshot-worthy, and the combat is more immersive than ever with enemies calling each other by name. It's such a simple idea to think about and yet it adds so much to each combat scenario. Shoot someone in the head and their friend might yell "NO, SKYLER!" The violence & gore is also just plain disturbing at times. Not since the original Soldier of Fortune have I been this shocked to go up to a dead body and witness the aftermath of my chaos.

It's clear that an ungodly amount of work and talent went into every facet of this game, and when I finished it I struggled to "review" it in my mind. It was just SO MUCH to process. It took me days to finally decide what number rating to give it, but when I managed to put all the pieces together and look at the game for what it was (not what I expected it to be) I realized that the game was a masterpiece.

Don't listen to the negativity of others. Play the game yourself and come to your own conclusions. In my mind, Part II is a must play title, every bit worthy as a sequel to one of the best Playstation games ever made, and my personal game of the year thus far.

Playing as Abby was such a breath of fresh air.
Ellie is a rampaging lunatic, even though I understand and agree with her motivations.
The whole point of this game was to show how violence is cyclical, and thankfully, Ellie and Abby are able to break that cycle.
If you didn't like the game, then you clearly weren't able to get over yourself and see what Naughty Dog was truly trying to show you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game and getting its platinum. These are my overall review averaged based on 4 categories.

    *Gameplay - 7/10
    - Nothing much had change from the first game. It still has your typical third person cover based shooter and stealth gameplay. There are some added features like a dodge mechanic. However, outside of its smooth execution, nothing changed significantly which could be considered as major improvement. In terms of enemies, there are more stalker sections now compared with the first game. There are two new infected in the game, the first one is the shambler, a more grotesque version of the bloater which does not really differentiate from their inferior version outside of exploding upon the dyng. The other one is the "Rat King" which is a creature connected by multiple stalkers and clickers which is like a boss enemy in the game. In the human side, the only new ones introduced are the dogs which makes the stealth sections more pressure and challenge since they follow your scent continuously unless killed. Despite this new enemies, the game still feels like the previous one and for me nothing felt totally new. The weapon adjustments are also back to the fold with more weapons and items to use which is a positive note. Based on all these, a 7 will suffice.

    *Graphics - 10/10
    - It won't be a Naughty Dog game if it does not give you top of the rank graphics. Every thing you see in the game is top-notched, with precise details and amazing. From the wrinkles, scars, blackheads of each character to the grotesque beings they throw at you and to each place you visit while traversing its universe. A Masterpiece in terms of graphical art.

    *Music/Sound - 10/10
    - Like the previous game, this game also made the perfect execution of quality music and sounds to make the game feel very much alive. Every music that plays are well placed to augment the feeling needed to come out in each of it's cutscenes and gameplay. The sounds of the clickers are very still terrifying and disturbing. The voice acting of its characters are likewise great with its multitude of great actors. Another masterpiece in this category.

    *Story - 0/10
    - Now this is where the game fell flat. Unlike the first game which presented a masterpiece plot and story which will be remembered for years, this game on the other hand, gave a very disappointing and frustrating storyline which will give a long lasting bad taste even from its dedicated fanbase. Not only it disrespected the characters (particularly Joel and gave him the stupidest death ever) they developed, built and established in the first game, it also contradicted itself the revenge story it wants to tell (You kill literally everyone except the one who deserves it, moreover, it forcefully makes you like the antagonist Abby even though there are no likable traits with her). In the character side, the new characters are all one dimensional and forgettable. Moreover, it also showed one of the most cringeworthy and unwatchable scenes in gaming history and the WORST ending in a story driven game (the ugly sex scene and lesbians kissing..sheesh).

    *Overall - 7/10
    - Honestly, after the Joel death cutscene way early in the game. I was playing half dead but tried to push on through believing to see any saving grace from the game. Sadly, it never came. Not only that, they gave an awful ending to close the game. Although everything is great, the story of the game i felt was the most important factor for me to like the game. But with one of the worst storyline I encountered, this is one of my personal worst game of all time plotwise. Regardless, I tried to be as fair as possible in my scoring. Still, I would not recommend this if story was the first reason you liked in the previous title because this will surely disappoint you due to a lot of writing idiocy.

The characters manage to be more compelling than many of the original just off of simple character motivations and what you learn from them as the story goes on, the gameplay is some the most crafty and intense survival combat you'll ever see thanks to the AI, the exploration is much more engaging and impactful thanks to the larger open areas that may have enemies you don't want to waste resources on and the simple yet efficient environmental puzzles, the twists and turns the story puts you through feel like something out of a coen brothers or a24 film (makes you wonder how those directors who commended kojima for death stranding would feel about tlou2), the game is simply just one of the best games this gen. Compared to the first game it's got much more meat to it, stronger world building thanks to the different factions, much more believable enemies that fall less into your typical game types like the molotov guys from the first, the gameplay again is just improved top to bottom and above all the game gives much more naunced perspectives. I was genuinely surprised at how much I loved this game, I don't like a lot of cinematic games and I'm not at all a naughty dog fan, I think uncharted 4 is almost as bad as 1. Really the only reason I don't give it a 10 is because I'm sure there are a few problems I missed but nothing that will fundamentally change my experience, I can't imagine a better sequel than the one we got for this game; for all the talk of people say for wanting games to take advantage of the medium it's a part of tlou2 does it to tell this pretty impactful story of 2 people wronged and deal with it in ways that are ultimately unhealthy to say the least. Only good thing in this game are Joel and Ellie flashbacks, everything else is bad as far as the story goes.
And what a bad ending i m really disappointed at this game because first one was so good this one is really bad.
And new charaters are bad and not interesting and i don t care about them at all.

Characters are dying purely for the shock factor and pseudo-philosophical messages that lead to nowhere. Mr. Druckmann has put so much effort into drama and trying to be original that he ended up with an unoriginal, illogical script that people justifiably hate. In other words, a genius outplayed himself and forgot what made the first game great in the first place. As a result, there is never going to be part 2 for the majority of fans. There is just the Last of Us.

the only thing good that comes out of this game are the Abby death compilations.
    Technically the game is good.
    a lot of content. (25 hour-ish)
But if you like the first part. this game will feel like self-mutilation

the fact there is sex in the game, by an very muscular woman, didnt bother me.
the fact there is an story arc about an transgender, didnt bother me. but it didn't add to the story, it felt forced. (probaly trying to score social justice points, but it felt forced. and they missed the ball. unlike the first part)

I do understand what they try to tell with the story, but i just stronly dissagree with its message about revenge.
I disslike abby so much, i try to rush to the gamepart where i play as abby.
I disslike Abby so much, i hated the fact whenever i unlock a new skill tree. it indirectly meant i have to play further with abby

And this isnt the good kind of of hate out of good writing. the game direction failed to generate any symphaty for Abby.

I remember the first part, where Sarah dies. the acting got me teared up. because Naughty dog took its time to generate empathy. it took 1 minute.
They tried with 10 hours with abby, and failed.

Such a **** shame. I will return my game or sell it second hand market.
Maybe this game deserved more then a 4, but if i see the score go beyond red, towards mixed i cannot put myself to press the submit button

To be short stealth mechanics are still the same and didn't developed throughout the years. You still can feel the tension thought. Shootings part are as great as ever and worth buying game already, you can feel every weapon from pulling revolver trigger to hitting enemies with foam. But to get to the interesting part, yes, there is a lot of political correctness in the game. There is a lot about women are stronger and better than men in everything, and the only community in the game where a man is ruled (suddenly) are fascists. This story is about a cycle of violence, an obsession with revenge, a good story. The heroes are interesting in the second part, I don't argue. But even a few of these political correctness and radical femenism in the game is a spoonful of dirt in a barrel of honey. The way white men are presented with chauvinist and biggots scum and women have all the power. In the end, i would still recommend the game, but its defenetly not a masterpiece and not as good as 1 part. Please dont hate the company and its workers but Niel Drakman and his radical femenism friends ( you know who i am talking about). In the end the only way to show them that this is wrong is by reviews.

I have some small gameplay nitpicks such as being unable to switch camera shoulders outside of ADS and being forced to take some skills I wasn't going to use, but as a whole, I think they improved the gameplay of the first game in every way. The combat is brutal and shocking, the infected are terrifying, and scavenging is still rewarded with mini in-universe stories and bits of exposition that really heighten the experience.

The story is incredible in my opinion. It is emotionally devastating and not easy, but very satisfying and really carry over the themes from the first game quite well. There are some small changes that I would make to the story as well just to help with pacing and unity but even these are minor.

I did not see any of the negative reactions until after I had finished the game and I am so grateful I stayed away because much of the criticism seems in really bad faith to me. I think that there absolutely can be plenty of good conversations about what this game did well and where it fell short but unfortunately any discussion of this game is hijacked by bad actors and bandwagon haters.

My recommendation is that you play the game for yourself, ignore anything anyone else says, including me and make up your own opinion.

Both the gameplay AND STORY are compelling. Some of the action sequences rank among the most thrilling for any game I've ever played -- my heart was pounding so hard I thought it would explode in some parts of the game. The characters' motivations make sense in the world where they live. If you take time to explore, you discover some quiet emotional beats that are heartfelt. The character interactions feel real. And of course the character models and world design are top notch, but that's to be expected from a Naughty Dog game. I feel like the naysayers have prejudged their opinions based on the spoilers, which I suppose don't look great when you take them out of context. When you put the story in the context of this 30-or-so hour game, it's directed so that it connects well. And for all those riled up about so-called SJW issues, I kept looking for that but if it's there, it's not in your face, and isn't what this game is about. The characters feel real and what happens in the world feels natural and expected. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really hate giving this game a 6 because I loved the original last of us and was faithful that Naughty Dog would make a game prob won't be better than the original but at least create a great game that served the characters justice and concluded their stories but this game does not do this. For half the game you play as Ellie and that half of the game was so **** fun and cool, If I had to rate the Ellie section of the game it would be a 9 out of 10 but there are some problems I have with this half.

1 is Joel's death. I get that they had to kill off Joel but they killed him off too early and the most disrespectful way possible. I don't care how real to life you want this game to feel, you don't kill off such a beloved character with a **** golf club. what makes his death worse is the back story when you find out Ellie never forgave Joel for saving her at the hospital. then Ellie distanced herself from him makes his death much worse. I also didn't feel that his character was properly concluded, I always had that feeling while playing the game that his arc was not finished as well. I wish they had more description as to what happened after the hospital.

    2. Jesse's death. there isn't that much to talk about I just don't see the point in him dying and the way they executed it was terrible. other than that I feel the gameplay, Music, and story was amazing. I felt that they really did a good job with Ellie's half.

With Abby's half of the game, however, I did not enjoy too much. the first half was pretty **** in my opinion the gameplay was still fun but the story not as much because nothing too interesting happened. coming towards the end half I started to really enjoyed it but still feel it would have just been better playing as Ellie for the 25 hours. the worst part of this section was when you have to fight Ellie at the end. I think that was stupid but to make it worse Ellie loses the fight, I would rather play as Ellie and still lose the fight. It would be like at the end of uncharted 4 when you have a sword fight with Rafe they make you play as Rafe and Nathan Drake loses the fight.

the ending of this game in opinion sucked. Dina leaves you. The backstory tells us that Ellie never got a chance to truly forgive Joel before he died. the characters never felt concluded for Ellie, Dina and Tommy's characters

I can't complain about the gameplay even for Abby's part because that is fun but I still wish that half of the gameplay never happened. The story was good for the first half but its characters never felt concluded and leaves me with more questions rather than answers to each character arc. where did Dina go? What happened to Tommy?. Where did Ellie go at the very end?.

Despite all the flak that Naughty Dog has been getting lately from all over the Internet, I feel like they gave me more than my money's worth. And then some.

    GAMEPLAY
It's more of the same, with minor improvements here, and there. I don't think there's really much to touch up on the gameplay, as it was already top notch to begin with. I did like how fluid everything felt, due in part to a heightened sense of freedom of approach. You can opt for stealth, or go in guns blazin' like the cowboy that you are. The game doesn't push you into a certain playstyle, and it makes it really fun. I do recommend playing on the higher difficulties. Fewer resources means you plan out how you'll use what you have, and how you approach certain scenarios. It really makes you feel the drab scarcity of the world you live in. And the game shines in that regard. LEVEL DESIGN - Gameplay
I like how the level design was literally elevated. Since there's an added verticality to Ellie, the map was constructed with multiple tiers in mind. I felt that the first game was so tight and constrictive, but this one blows it out of the park. Massive levels with much more freedom during subsections meant a more varied experience for everyone, minimizing repetition. This also means more replayability, since you can miss out on a lot because of how much there is to see. LEVEL DESIGN - Art
I paid much more attention to the lay of the land this time around, and I can see how meticulously crafted the world is, very much similar to the first game. I really like how interconnected everything feels compared to the previous game.

    PLAYTIME
My playtime total was 35 hours and 25 mins. Due to the added nature of the highest difficulty, I did take some more time with the game than usual. I also tried to mop up as much of the collectibles as I could, which also added to the counter. Overall, this is a 20-25 hour game on regular difficulties. There were some padded out sections, but I didn't really feel it was too detrimental to the whole experience. STORY
This is where it gets spicy. A lot of people hate it, a lot of people are indifferent, and then there are people like me who loved it. I think this is an examination of the human psyche, and the depths we're willing to go to fulfill our need for satisfaction, whatever that may be. The Last of Us isn't a story about heroes and villains; it's a human story about people just trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. A world wherein survival could mean consequences down the line, and how our actions, no matter how justified or satisfying it may be, will always have repercussions. It might be hard to relate to, for some, given the circumstances we live in, but I couldn't really think of anything to compare this to. It's a world of its own. There were times when I had trouble going further, mainly because it was all too much. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because then I wouldn't have the drive to see things through. And it also means that it makes me feel so much, which, I must say, doesn't happen quite a lot, even in other entertainment media.

I did go into this with no preconceived notion as to how it should go. After all, this isn't my story to tell. I'm lucky I was able to avoid spoilers as much as possible, because it would've ruined the experience. The plot as a whole won't be agreeable for everyone, but I like how it was done, and I felt that no one was left behind in this story. Execution was really great. SUMMARY
In the end, everything was worth it; the wait, the money spent, the time lost to playing. A rollercoaster of emotions throughout, with some moments leaving me teary-eyed, or just downright broken at the core. And I think this is where it succeeds, since the goal was to challenge your outlook on survival, and how far you're willing to go to feel some semblance of vindication. It's not a perfect game; in fact, far from it. But what it does great far surpasses what it does otherwise. And the fact that it encourages discussion between the morality of the charactes, and the story itself, is a victory already. And that god-tier animation. Facial detail is on a whole another level. Naughty Dog set the standard again in that regard. I'd give it a 9/10. -1 for not doing much in terms of gameplay innovation.

I forgot to say this but mad props to Naughty Dog for adding in that extra work to make the game accessible for everyone. You can spend an hour alone tweaking the game to your liking / disability / personal challenges.

The Last Of Us Part II is one of the best games I ever played.

Besides the very sophisticated, controversy story, it features the best graphics I ever saw on any console, a superb sound backdrop as well as tough strategical horror gameplay that will definitely keep you on the sofa's edge with a quickened pulse! But now to the most important part: the game's very courageous storyline.

It's an absolute roller-coaster of feelings. Nope, it won't go the old-fashioned "good versus evil" way with tough guys and weak women, it's a very modern story, even with same-sex feelings. If you're "too tough" for standing that, just leave it; it'll just make you angry. But if you're open-minded, the game will make you laugh, love, hate and everything in between.

Also, and that's why it's modern and very brave for an expensive triple-A title, it sheds light to "the bad side" too, by switching perpectives. Like many outstanding movies that make you ponder (21 Grams, L.A. Crash, BABEL, The Thin Red Line, ...), the game shows that your enemies have their own issues, reasonable motives and feelings, too. Just like enemies (=people) in real-life would.

Usually, this is not a topic for games as its easier to write a one-sided story and simpler to digest for the consuments. But it also won't make you THINK about it. Now we have some **** storms and (stupid) petitions, so ND did something right. ;) PS: TLOU2 is also not a game for children, it is VERY (because realistically) brutal and contains some sex scenes, too. Just saying. If you own a PS4, PLAY THIS GAME!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Was exciting to play through but i hated playing as Abby. Best part about her part was the creative ways you let someone end her or jump of a cliff etc. Not because she's buff but because how she was written and how she was forced upon the player for 12 hours while the game focuses everything into getting me to find sympathy for her. She likes dogs, Ellie kills dogs and so on, it was very annoying.
i just wish the story would've been about someone else than Joel and Ellie (If you have to do it like this)

Worst parts of the game was just another flashback with Owen and how much Abby loves him and has an affair with him and then doesnt care if she's kills unborn babies, just found her creepy and annoying. Didnt care for her and i blame the writers. I loved the sniper part though and some aspects, i just wish it would be shorter and the rest would be a DLC. I would've loved a good story involving Joel and Ellie, instead we get a mediocre, badly paced one but a crazy emotional one, which was the positive part. I would've loved to take out good chunk of her playtime and play Tommy instead, shoot Manny and Abby and people would be like whoa Abby was crazy but she's over.

This is an amazing world that could've cast new characters and it would've been such a better accomplished game if it wouldnt have been this needless sequel imo.
The graphics, music, stealth system and everything is so good, i loved proning and taking down the entire team while crafting more arrows, just everything was so fluid. Ellie was really cool and obviously people change and all that, so i enjoyed the ride, i just dont agree with the story direction, the endless drama of every single thing, pregnant medic mothers going on missions because why ?

Who is this stupid to allow that to slow the team down in the first place ? And then 2 pregnant dramas that happen after that, forced social politics and the length of Abby's nonsense, how ND thought this move would be popular is beyond me. The subverting expectations and the exaggerating drama scenes for the sake of drama, was a tad bit much for my taste. I felt it was absolutely perfectly written in the first game and Left Behind but i feel the 70% staff leaving ND had something to do with the pacing, writing for this game. Also the co-writer of the first game and Left Behind had nothing to do with this game, so it was just Neil and his new Westworld TV show writer.

I love how many female characters are in this game, i just wish the ideas for them wasnt always reprisenting some social politics, its a female character so she has to have an agenda, this one is gay, this one is also gay, this one is trans and this one is bulky.
Nothing wrong with having that in game but it felt so forced and it bothered me. Im pretty sure all the expendable straight women were killed because they didnt reprisent some agenda, yet magicly the reprisentatives none of them got killed, not even Bill in the first game lol loved that guy. My complaint has nothing to with being gay etc in general, its just how its implemented.

Game definetly has its strengths though, the flashbacks between Ellie and Joel were by far the best moments in this game, gameplay wise its phenomenal and the graphics, the audio is absolute world class, i dont think ive had as good audio in a game before. Shows that their crunch really paid off for this game to look good, also concerning how the new president is desperatly trying to restore ND image because of controversy happening there and 70% of the staff leaving. But regardless i feel this was an uneccessary sequel, its so bad and its so good.

I want to give it a 7 because it was quite the ride but i also wanna give it a 3 because there so many stupid decisions made in making of this game, especially how the workers were overworked, and regarding the game itself how boring the new characters are and how poorly paced the story is, how this revenge story sucks (Just like Neil was told when he wasnt president) and how the shock value and subverting expectations was prevalent in every single scene. It could've been so much better but ND got stuck in the trenches and had to finish their product in the end with Sony breathing down their necks.

TLOU1 followed by Left Behind was an absolute masterpiece and this is just a more brutal and exaggerated spin-off that doesnt even cast the same characters. The old characters are nothing like themselves, its like Neil either forgot ( since its been over 10 years since the other game was in development) or he doesnt care. It doesnt feel like a Part 2 , just a poor sequel that i cant bring myself to play again.

At first I thought the reviews were overly harsh, but every plot turn it made, so did my feelings towards the game.
trying something different doesn't make you creative or a good writer.
the gameplay is fine, It's improved since the last game, BUT! do not think that would make it worth it. half way through the story I would have given it a 70%. 50%: for gameplay 20%: for story.

After beating this long, drawn out, painful, experience into the ground, I'd give it a

    50%: for gameplay and

    -30%: for story.

You might see this as extreme but, once you see this mess you'll understand.
I'm avoiding spoilers so more people can see this but, if you're really curios, just watch a walkthrough of your choosing. It's not worth supporting this mess.

On Numerous occasions I could see what True Beauty the picture puzzle holds but the pieces are all haphazardly just mashed together that this Possibly Masterpiece of a Picture which would probably reach into your soul and leave a mark never manages to do so.

This is a clear example of why Pacing and Editing plays such an important role in media which is something widely understood with Movies and TV shows and in games as well for that matter but pacing and editing was thrown away for a self indulgent pat on the back.
This is probably the worst paced game I have every played along with being one of the worst Editing in Story and Screenplay I have experienced.
The most heartbreaking aspect is everything was there for another Soulful Experience; all the effort, all the passion, all the good story that the whole of Naughty Dog worked so hard on but Story Execution is in the worst possible order that it really damages the overall experience.

This game is an imperfect gem in the rough that would have been a beautiful Jewel in Naughty Dog's amazing legacy but sadly the decision and cost of being shocking and subversive never allows it to reach the level of adoration it deserves.

What made the first game really special was the story. I found the gameplay to be ok but it was the story that made the game great.

The problem here is that the gameplay has not changed much and the story is just dreadful. The futility of it all is no fun. I don’t want to play a game and reach the end to think to myself, ‘All of that was totally pointless.’ Yes the graphics are

Yes the graphics are superb, but for me replayability and fun gameplay are a must. This doesn’t have that for me. On top of this, the story is awful and it seems decisions were made to make it into a really depressing, ‘thought provoking’, ‘study’ of ‘humankind’. Well, I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know and got bored doing it.

The game was a struggle to finish and I won’t be going back. Glad I played it? Kind of. Enjoyed playing it? Not really.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
