NaughtyDog lied in the trailers about Joel, such deceit I've never seen before from any company. The whole idea of playing 10+ hours for the person you're gonna hate from the beginning and having to kill dozens of people just to spare the worst person in the end is complete nonsense, and even worse is that so it's badly told nonsense.

Environments and Setting 10/10 - Just perfect, everything is so well done, every section seems differnt and worthwile, made the exploration feel so fluid

Graphics and Lighting 10/10 - Simply the best I've ever seen in videogames, EVER

Soundtrack and Audio 10/10 - Just like the first game, it is absolutely perfect, it adds so much to every moment, weahter it's combat, a cutscene, or just exploration, it always brings so much life into the game. Bravo Gustavo, once again.

Acting 10/10 - It wasn't because of the actors that the story failed, they were just perfect, especially (obviously) Ashley, but Laura Bailey did an amazing job as always

Narrative 5/10 - First 15 hours were amazing, the 10 hours that followed were a complete mess, I found myself rushing towards the end cause I couldn't give a **** about the story they were trying to tell us.

(Ending 9/10) - I just simply loved it. I cried so much at the final scene. If it wasn't for the poor execution on the second part of the game, this would be a 10, and the story could easily be 8 or 9. But it isn´t

Final Thoughts: Although the narrative has issues in its pacing and decisions, this was still one of the best experiences I had with a videogame in a long time (probably since part 1). And even tho the story isn't as good as the first one, the overall experience was worth every second. You just don't find this kindof quality in games often, so you should apreciate Naughty Dog for still investing in these games with engaging and emotive narrative, combining it with oustanding visuals and gameplay

I want to give it a 9 for all that it did well, but because the story is so important in these kind of games, I can't rate it higher than 8.

While Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann revel in their 10/10 reviews, reality is that this game is just bad. Its not art, its nothing profound, its a game with a poorly written story and pacing issues. On a technical aspect the game is great, you can really tell how much hard and skillful work went into

While Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann revel in their 10/10 reviews, reality is that this game is just bad. Its not art, its nothing profound, its a game with a poorly written story and pacing issues.

On a technical aspect the game is great, you can really tell how much hard and skillful work went into making it. Combat and animations are as smooth as ever, and graphics are beautiful.

Thats where it ends, the game is split into two phases, 1 with Ellie, 1 with Abby, Upgrades, weapons, supplements, all get a feeling of worthlessness because of how the game is split. Why bother gathering things when you can only use them in one half of the game.

In phase 2, you are forced to play as Abby, a character that most people who played the first game, will hate. You are then exposed to cheap repeated attempts to make you sympathize with Abby like petting dogs and messing around with your teenage love interest.

The attempts at trying to make you see her side and sympathize come across as cheap, manipulative, and unwelcome.
Naughty Dog should try the same on the hundreds of people Joel, Ellie, and Abby have killed. That's alot of dogs to pet.

In the end, you are left heartbroken, resentful, unsatisfied, and disappointed.

Dont trust the negative reviews, the narrative of this game is good, little kids are mad about Joels Death and how did this happened.Haters of this game is saying that Joel will not tell to those guys his name-First of all when Joel came to them Abby already know that it is killer of her father, cause while Tommy and Joel where resqueing Abby,Tommy said to Abby that his name is Tommy and it is my brother Joel, and thats it Abby is already know that is Joel.Second-Why did he told his name to the company of unknown people-Cause theve saved his life and after 5 year pause of crimes and violence.Ok lets talk about the plot,in opnion it is Narrative Masterpice, all chacters are like live persons with own psyche and motivations, the game is divided into a two strory lines Ellies story line and Abbys story line, and what can i say,Ellies Story line is like Uncharted 4 Ellie sacrifice all her for friends for revenge like Nathan Drake sacrifices everything for a treasure, and Abbys story line is like a Last of Us Part 1 Abby meet two strangers they resqued het and she resqued them, but after the night with Owen she sees a dream where she sees them died, and she decides to help them, and in the end of abbys soryline comes best level of the game Seraphites Island, and when WLF soliders comes to an island and begin a war with seraphits the island turns into mess and chaotic place,so i love this level. After Abbys storyline she finds Owen dead with Mel and she want to kill the killers of her friends she find out the theater and revenge Ellie for her friends. And waht can i say about ending Ellie coming to Santa Barbara to stop Flashbacks Where Joel always dies ( Read for text book while u are in Santa Barbara and ull understand what im taking about) and when Ellie overcome Abby and nearly kill Abby she sees Joel alive playing on his guitar and she understands that revenge is ended and she wins, but ull ask to me why didnt she kill Abby because she dont to became a monster that killed mother(Abby) in front of daughter (Lev). And when Ellie sees last flashback with Joel one day before his death where she forgives him for accident in the Salt Lake City Fireflies Hospital and we see that Joel is happy for his forgivnes and after it we see that Joel will be not forgotten.
Gameplay is super interesting and action elements are breathtaking, weapon customization, stels elements and character animation is perfect. It is a good exapmle of perfect Gameplay.
Graphics is perfect i think dont need to say anything.

Play the game yourself and do not let others turn you off from playing it. And to those who just don't like it because they didn't get what they wanted, grow up. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's this simple. The positives: The graphics are fantastic, the game is longer (which can be a negative at times), the level design bigger/better than the original & the gameplay is slightly improved from the original, but nothing drastic. The jump button is a welcome addition, but it's barely useful for anything at all.

The negatives: The story is abysmal & depressing. I honestly don't know if I ever played a more depressing game with characters I could care less about. Besides the stuff with Joel, Ellie becomes almost completely unlikable, by the end of the game, I didn't care about any of the characters at all. I just wanted it to be over. On top of this, The decisions & conclusions the characters make are completely irrational and illogical. It's a complete disservice to Joel, Ellie and the original story. The gameplay while slightly improved feels dated and gets boring & really drags through the second half.

It's definitely not worth 60 bucks, I wish I would've waited for a used copy down the road. Selling this one on Ebay!

Couse think about it, if u where born in an apocalyptic infected world, killing people would be basic so she doesn't feel anything when killing. And she doesn't feel couse shes used to it in that **** up world. The story is very good and poetic in my opinion, I hope more people like the game and story couse its extremely good and realistic, if the real world would be like the last of us (infected and survival of the fittest) well you would kill because of your survival instinct and you wouldn't think about it cause it would be life or death . This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

'The Last of Us Part II' is a story-driven survival game, and if the plot is this terrible, I think it would have been better for Naughty Dog to scrap the whole thing. To kill off one of Play Station's most iconic and beloved characters in Act One, just for his death to ultimately mean nothing teaches the audience absolutely nothing. On top of that, attempting to teach gamers the lessons that "violence is bad" and "trans-phobia and homo-phobia are bad" is rich. Druckmann deserves to be fired, and Naughty Dog needs to formally apologize. This game was, without any exaggeration, a AAA failure.

When Joel died I felt something I've never felt, or hardly ever, while playing a videogame: I was crying, my legs were shaking and my voice was broken, I felt angry, sad and I just couldn't believe that Joel was dead, in fact the first thing I've sad after that was:"It's not true, Joel's not dead, he's in very bad shape and all that stuff but he'll be fine in some time. They didn't kill Joel".
Then I saw the tombstone with his name on it and I cried even more, then I rried to cheer me up saying that he would be with Sarah now, but that hurted a lot and it wasn't helpful.
So I kept playing the game with one desire: avenge Joel's death and kill Abby.
Then I arrived at the point when you start to play as Abby, at the beginning I was really pissed off, but during that 8/9 hours while playing as Abby I realised why she has done that and the fact that she kinda regret what she has done because, in the end, she had lost everything, even her closest friend and I started to emphatize with her, in fact when Abby and Ellie fought for the first time I started to think that I'd preferred the Abby's death 'cause in the end during the first game I really loved both Joel and Ellie, so I was still in love, if I can say so, with her.
Then the fight ended and neither of them died and I was kinda happy but then the epilogue arrived and they fought for the second time and, for the second time in a row, no one has won but because Ellie understand, thanks to an old memory of Joel, that, if she had killed Abby, she would have lost her humanity, and that was memory was painful but awesome at the same time.
I might have not explained it well but it felt like that was the perfect endng because, thanks to the last memory of Joel and Ellie, you understand that Ellie, at the beginning at least, wanted to kill Abby to avenge Joel but then you realise that the only person she was hating and blaming was herself 'cause she was unable to forgive Joel for what he has done at the Fireflies' Saint Mary's Hospital (the end of The Last of Us) before his own death and that was so powerful that I cried again, it was **** perfect.
Also I wanted to spend a few word about the techniical assets: the graphic's excellent, the gameplay is a simply evolution of the first game gameplay with some new features and the all options that Naught Dog has put into the game to help the people who have some disabilities or wanna play the game with some help are very useful, so well done Naughty Dog.
Also what has happened with the review bombing it's very sad because if you look at this title objectively, this game deserves, at least, 7 even if you don't like the story 'cause the gameplay, the animations, the all accessibility options and the graphics are all **** amazing, and this game is the top of of the generation (and please don't say things like:"Cyberpunk 2077 will look amazing, and even better than TLOUPART2" because it's not true, and you know it. It'll look amazing and we all know that, but it's an free-roaming open world RPG so it can't have as many details as The Last of Us Part II has, it's impossible for this generationat least, we'll see what's gonna happen with the Next Gen in the next few months).

Unfortunately, there isn't much beyond the eye-candy layer. The gameplay is slightly better than what the previous TLOU offered. Gunplay still feels janky and awkward, enemies are still largely identical, the AI is slightly better (enemies tend to react to you killing someone, but it doesn't force any kind of change in your approach to combat, nor a differing experience). Overall, it still plays like a mediocre stealth game, there are many games that do stealth with much more freedom of agency, tools and progression.
The story, while enacted with amazing detail, is really dissonant and sometimes, plain cheap.
Characters no longer have relatable motivations and on the rare occasion that they do, it's still not relatable due to plotholes and nonsensical decisions they make. Avoiding spoilers, I'll still say what they did with Joel is one of the cheapest ways I've ever seen writers trying to tear-jerk the player/viewer.
You can't simply rely on the established popularity of a character from a previous entry and just decide to do him like filth in the sequel for the sake of doing him like filth in the sequel, to make players feel "sad". Anyone could do that, there's nothing creative about it.
The overall "message" of the plot is one we've heard dozens of times before, yes, the cycle of revenge can be a never-ending downward spiral and the writing the game tries to convey this message is petty and suffers from plotholes and facepalm-provoking character choices.
Also, aside from the "key" characters from previous game, practically any other character could be replaced with almost anyone at random. They're acting well for most part and they have familiar expressions, but they have no relatable personality or personality traits.
The overall level design is pretty good and much more open, though the game let go of the environmental puzzles notable in the studios previous games almost entirely and exploration is rather pointless. Though, I will say that there's still more point to looting than it was in games like Red Dead Redemption 2.
Overall, it's not a "bad" game, but a rather forgettable and sometimes boring one, that's longer than it has any right to be.
If I pretend that the "shock value for the sake of shock value" moments weren't there, that is.

The dynamic that made the first game great is gone. We can’t have it because Druckmann employed Anita Sarkeesian, so you can only imagine where that’s gonna lead. I don’t mind shocking U turns when logical. But to me it seems Druckmann did it only to clear up the path for Anita’s version of The Last of Us which is why it feels so nonsensical and forced. Such a waste of potential…

Another reason you’ll get angry is because you’ll feel cheated. You paid for 25+ hours of gameplay, yet the game you knew ends after 30 minutes of play straight up. I’d advise everyone to watch the walkthrough on youtube up until the U turn scene and then if you think that’s something you’ll enjoy for another 24+ hours, then go ahead and buy it, more power to you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is hard to rate this game. The Last of Us is a legend, but this sequel makes you forget about it. When 7 years ago it was announced, we all hoped for something groundbreaking. Unfortunately, cult around Neil Druckmann's writing was wrong (including me). This game is beautiful, not Red Dead Redemption level of graphics, but it's amazing (what's funny, Uncharted 4 looks very similar). Gameplay is the same old game with newer animations, which is good if you love the first one. But the story, oh boy, the story. Killing Joel right on the beginning without any respect was the worst decision of the franchise. Models we're swapped, Joel from trailerS was replaced by Jesse. Joel in some scenes was replaced by young Joel, so he was not part od the story, this was just a flashback scene. And the worst... Game forces you to play as Joel's killer for almost 12 hours. Writing is cheap, full of plotholes. No one had a problem with Ellie being gay. Left Behind has great reviews. But Naughty Dog tries to tell people if they do not like this game, that means they are bigots. They made mistake, an enormous one, but they will not admit it. Franchise ruined. Expand

The user score system here is extremely flawed. Many give it 0/10s and 10/10s without even playing the game. The lengths at which people will go to attack/defend something is extreme.

I personally enjoyed this game a lot, but I will admit that it falls short on some of the things that the first game established. To balance this, it also introduces some nice things. I enjoyed the story, but I will admit that it isn't as good as the first. They contain drastically different tones, and introduce new characters that stray away from Joel and Ellie. If you want to dive deeper into this game's story, you first have to accept Abby as a character, and understand that it doesn't just revolve around J&E. I would actually say that both TLOU and TLOU2 are cliche in their stories, but one is heartwarming while the other is brutal. It's mostly down to personal preference, but we can't deny that there are some flaws within the writing. Many of the characters serve as an extension to the plot, when instead, it could work better the other way around. Some of them also don't get enough screentime to truly bond with them. The pacing is also a little off sometimes, with sudden cuts and changes in perspective.

But one thing I genuinely loved about this game is that it isn't scared of killing/harming people. They die quick. They die suddenly. Some are for shock factor, but they do leave you feeling a little empty. You could say that this "revenge is bad" plot is average and cliche, but many wanted also wanted a simple revenge story, which is JUST as cliche. The characters aren't all pure good and bad, instead, they fall into a gray zone. The game emphasizes this with both the protagonists and antagonists. While I don't believe that this story reaches the top like TLOU did, it still does a good job in delivering its message with a good amount of likeable characters.

The gameplay is similar to TLOU, but does some improvements. The UI in specific is still very simple while giving you more information. Players are now able to jump and go prone, adding a little bit of platforming to the experience. The UI is smarter now and is able to get good cover, rush towards you, and are able to locate you when you're discovered. They're a good challenge. Still, the gameplay loop is extremely intense, enjoyable, and plays great.

However, there are still some flaws with it. The supplements system has now turned into a branch system, and covers different aspects of gameplay. My problem with this system is that it sometimes forces you to waste supplements on power-ups that you don't want, and a couple of these upgrades feel almost useless. Still, with enough progress and spending, you can get some solid upgrades.

Weapon modification returns, and it's awesome in this game. The character does unique animations for each gun when you upgrade them. The guns in general feel very powerful, and each weapon covers a dinstinct role. They're all unique in their own ways.

Presentation, as with any ND game, is top-notch. The graphics are some, if not THE best I've seen on the PS4. Foliage is extremely dense, the lighting is strong and can emit a certain feeling perfectly, and the animations and voice acting are amazing. In fact, foliage serves two functions: It is both a presentation tool, but also a gameplay one, as it allows you to hide from enemies quickly.

This game isn't a 10/10. It also isn't a 0/10. It's extremely controversial, but it's something you should definitely give a try at one point in your life. You might come out with dread. Or, you might come out with happiness, like I did.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What Naughty Dog has done with this game is nothing short of incredible whether you like it or not.

Personally I am more on the "like" side. When I finished Part 1 I was left with questions and concerns just like many others. I think part of the reason why I really like Part 2 is because it addresses those concerns. Of course the game is not without it's flaws but what it does do it does masterfully in gameplay and sometimes in story.

This game has actual consequences for character actions. The tone of the Last of Us as a series is gritty, it's real, it's dark. It's not like Uncharted. Nathan Drake is less likely to be faced with the consequences of killing a random soldier because that's not the tone of Uncharted. The Last of Us Part 2 made the end of Part 1 actually mean something, it actually held weight. The game puts you in so many uncomfortable situations on purpose. It makes you play as a character who brutally murdered one of the main characters, how is that not bold? I actually ended up liking Abby as a character through paying attention and having an open mind. The game is not about heroes and villains. Joel is not a hero. He's done bad **** We know this, it's inexcusable. The same goes for Abby. It's not cut and dry, not black and white, that's not the point. The game is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable for playing as Abby. And I did until I learned that her father was THAT doctor. Then I completely understood her motivations, doesn't mean she's right, but doesn't mean Ellie was either. If Ellie is "justified" in revenge for what happened to Joel then so is Abby for what happened to her father. It's not a new theme, it's the cycle of violence that leads to hatred. Even the sub narratives present worked well for characters. Yes of course it's convenient there's a trans side-character used for greater representation in the game but there's nothing wrong with that. He ended up becoming one of my favourite characters in the game because of how endearing he became through the gameplay sections.

Having an open mind led me to even feeling bad for Abby by the end. The plot holes themselves are even minor. Ellie can kill a random npc aiming a gun at her but this isn't a random npc, this is someone she's chased down twice, and twice Ellie was spared by Abby. So by the end when she realized her PTSD doesn't just have to be Joel's bloodied face but instead his smile with a guitar she allows Abby to save Lev, knowing that she's bit she will die anyway. The way it deals with another beloved character having PTSD, the way at the end you as a player feel so empty, Ellie's house is also empty.

This game is dark, it's brutal it's unforgiving but the way it was told and presented I actually loved. I loved how flashbacks are weaved in to make you feel more emotional post-Joel's death. But although that is the game does come with pacing issues. It's like Naughty Dog heard all the criticism about it's former games lack of gameplay and they said "ok how about this" and they turned it up to 11. This is ND's most ambitious game gameplay wise. Almost every encounter felt amazing even though some areas went on for too long. The game itself goes in incredible places, the updated mechanics make the gameplay feel so much better than the first game. The approach to difference situations are so much more flexible, reminding me of MGSV. Some areas can be so wide and sprawling, I greatly enjoyed exploring them for collectibles and resources. On Hard mode the combat felt somewhat balanced, depending on how i chose to fight i either ended up with too little ammo for the subsequent encounter or just enough. The game does not let up, and sometimes to a fault. Many times I thought the game would finally be over and end but it kept going. Even this new end area and enemies were really well thought out but because of the poor pacing it ended up feeling rushed.

The scares in this game as so well thought out and unique. Just like the level design. The level and game design in this game is astounding, story completely aside. The way you make your way through the overgrown ruins of Seattle feels like it doesn't miss a beat, again to a fault. The skyscraper, the village, the aquarium, the theater, so many excellently designed areas that are used so well. So many "oh **** moments. Like the sniper part, a nice nod to the sniper section in the first game at first, you can't see who the sniper is but they're good. Eventually you start to hate them because they're so hard to kill. Until the end of the section when you realize who they are it because nothing short of an incredible moment.
Graphics and accessibility options are also top tier. Naughty Dog once again proves it is the king of cinematic storytelling and environmental design. Love it or hate it, TLOU2 is one of the most bold and audacious games ever created.

    1) Death of the main character is too brutal and should have been handled in a different way and since it is in the early hours of the game, player feels no motivation to go forward but that is exactly what the developers want you to feel at that point.
    2) Pacing of the game doesn't feel right, the way it puts the player in flashback scenes and then brings the player to the present its all too confusing.
    3) Length of the game feels like a stretch if you explore and collect all the collectables.
    4) Game is more than twice as big as its predecessor in terms of open landscape, explorable area.
    5) Game Trailers give a false impression to the player that the story is about Joel and Ellie but these two characters aren’t the main focus of the story which isn’t a bad thing. This story is about how the actions of Joel and Ellie affect the world around them.
6)Due to the way certain scenes are placed throughout the game, after few hours of the game when I assumed the control of Abby, I didn’t want to play anymore but gradually as I was progressing, I grew closer to Abby even though what she did at the beginning was too dark.
7)Abby’s section in the game is the main focus and is around 10 to 15 hours. Abby is not a villain in this game, she is just trying to survive and protect the ones she loves. The later half of the game paints this very nicely.
8)The game forces the player to experience the pain and discomfort by using excellent visual and sound effects. There are so many beautiful scenes in the game that I kept taking in-game screenshots.
9)The only things that helped me keep going forward after our hero’s death were the gameplay, graphics, music, cinematics fluid combat and the rope and dodge mechanics. Sound effects are so good, at the work bench upgrading the weapons feels like you are right there.
10)At the very end no person in his/her rightful mind would want the revenge that the player was promised at the beginning. I personally didn’t want either of them (Abby or Ellie) to die. No way it deserves the review bombing it is getting.

Absolute waste of money. I stopped playing and I'm not going to bother finishing it either. This game is the equivalent to Game of Thrones Season 8 epic failure! I just don't understand why everything about the first game was destroyed in this sequel. Everything I loved about the 1st installment, gone, just like that! Naughty Dog and Sony blew it and they were warned! The fans spoke after the leaks and told them what they didn't like. Naught Dog, Sony, and personally Neil Druckman himself, verbally attacked and criticized fans of being racists and misogynists, and assured fans the game would be loved by everyone. This game is an absolute blunder and will probably go down as the WORST sequel in video game history! Did Sony really think fans wouldn't notice the fake paid for "Critic Reviews"? Who are they trying to fool?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying that you can not give a game a 0. If it is playable and you invest 18 hours playing it you have to be honest about it.

    -Graphics, Gameplay and Sound-

    The Good:
They did an amazing job with the graphics, the physics are amazing and the mocap is incredible. You feel the emotions, pain and fear in main characters and also the AI.
If this the way games are going to be in the future, I am very excited.

Sound Design is also great with top voice acting and ambiance. The gameplay is improved this time a round. I liked the dodge system (unlike the RE 3) tough it made things a bit too easy for my taste.
The feel and sound of the weapons are amazing. I love to grind and max out stuff so I had lots of fun doing that, But I can imagine that some will not find it innovative. I liked the upgrade system and it is very effective.

Liked the fact that it was a bit open worldly, you can explore a bit and tough you only find some lore and items it was still fun to do and not as a time waster. Locations are detailed and the weather effects are amazing.

Loved the Horror missions, tough too few and far in between, but for those who know I wish most of the game was like the Ground Zero mission.

    The Bad:
The have achieved a mile stone with this game yet there some things that makes you wish the had put more time in de AI. In de missions that you are playing with a companion, the enemies are all blind to their existence. People are walking in the middle of the road and AI is screaming where are they?

I played the game in Hard difficulty and after a couple of upgrades it felt like being Rambo running around stealth kill everyone. It still bothers me that a metal pipe breaks after four hits but hey on the other hand the melee weapons are way to overpowered, specially with upgrades.

They game is too focused on the people and human enemies, I wish it was more Survival horror like the first game. I think I ruined for myself by grinding too much, there was not a moment I was out of ammo, I stealth kill a lot and the fact that Ellie has a knife makes killing clickers like they are normal infected. I did not feel the fear like the first game in my stomach after a while I was hunting them like it was nothing. Still I give the gameplay a high score, it is very solid and seamless.

    - The Story -

    The Good:
    None.

    The Bad:
What a let down. I did not read or see any reviews and went in totally blank. I do not give a damn about politics, sexuality or having an agenda. I Just wanted to see what unfolds for two of the gaming beloved characters Joel and Ellie.

Lots of people were turned off when Joel died, man o man it felt very senseless and pushed.
It did not have the same effect on me when Joels daughter died in the first one. I think they took a big gamble on that and it failed. First thing I said to myself was, this a revenge story then.

They should have build op tot that, it happened way too early in my opinion. I loved Joel in the first one and his killing was senseless, but hey murder is senseless.

Knowing the social climate we live in (specially in United States), I was not to bothered with female empowerment message they are going for. I do not like the design of Abby yet I did not hate her enough to send death threats to the voice actress (what a bunch of yoyos).

The focus was directly shifted to Abby, Joel is dead and what else can Ellie do except going for revenge. There is no depth in the story. The whole LGBT aspect of the game adds nothing to personality of the characters. After-all the game is about survival of the human race. Sexuality, gender and race does not add anything to the story in my opinion.

There is not a shock or surprise moment in this game. You know and feel exactly, who will die and at what moment. A narrow opening to go trough on the end of the level, Ambush Time. You read some lore stuff about WLF and Scars but their motives are very straight forward. Everyone is walking around trying to kill each other for their turf.

Ellie is killing everything and everyone, there is no element of real danger. I wished I could just hide and run a way to finish the game (you probably can) but the game just makes you kill everything.
I was more shocked when dogs and horses died, than some characters in this game.

I do not hate Abby. After Ellie killed a pregnant woman, I was done with her. What redeeming factor is left for her? You can not root for her anymore. I started bonding with Abby and her friends.
Abby was even more remorseful than Ellie. I did not care anymore what happens to Ellie.

Ending resolves nothing, you sit there thinking what the story teller is trying to say? Ellie as a character is destroyed. LOU Part 3 should just start with a new character or never come out. There is no reason to reply this game, no extra stories or multiplayer.

As well as imaginative and illustrious artwork and cgi work, really ahead of it's time with the facial details and character uniqueness. No game is perfect, not even the first one but the attention to detail in this series never ceases to amaze me. You could even use some of these skills in real life if say a zombie apocalypse was to happen. There are a lot of valuable lessons in this one, following the story of the first one. You can't take anything for granted when it comes to the story, without disclosing too much, it really has many layers in it's plot, many of which will catch you off guard if you care about the characters. I get it, a lot of tlou 1 fans think the story is ruined but I say it does way better than a lot of sequels out there and not only continues the story but ads an entire rich layer of depth to it's characters. The outcome of the story was not expected from me, I had certain theories that I was sure were facts while playing, and it turned out to be something completely different. I say if you are a fan of the first one, or a fan of insane dramatic action-rpgs, this is a must for you. It's brilliant in many aspects. I think all the negative feedback for this game is not really warranted and emotive based/ irrational. Ironically, somewhat cult like (reference to some of this games themes). It's true this game was nothing even close to what I was expecting but that made it the much more thrilling for me. I had no idea what was coming around the corner, figuratively and literally. If you are reading this review, you must check this game out, you are in for a lengthy and complex- bumpy ride. Expand

Upon completing this game, I am left heartbroken. I watched a character that I've loved for years lose herself because she lost someone she cared about, and who cared about her. Its a difficult experience to see Ellie make decisions that leave her lost and alone, and it is by no means 'fun' to see her throw away everything only to be torn further from Joel, and let his killer live.

But to call the story 'bad' because you think Ellie should have fulfilled her revenge is completely missing the point ND was trying to make. I think one's enjoyment of this story depends on whether the game is able to make you empathize with Abby, and even root for her. For me, ND accomplished this. In the beginning, I hated Abby and wanted to see her meet the consequences of her choice to seek out and murder Joel. But by the end, during the fight on the beach, I wanted her to live. Abby is cold and hardened, scarred by the loss of the person she cared about more than anything, and struggling to find her purpose in the world. Through our time playing as her, we see her begin to regain some of that humanity, through her conviction to protect a young child and bring them to safety. If this sounds familiar, its because her arc is very similar to Joel's in the first game. By the end of The Last of Us, Joel had done some monstrous things and killed many innocent people, but we still loved him. Abby is no worse than Joel, and though she never fully redeems herself in my eyes for what she did, I still understand her motivations and hope that she and Lev find the safe haven they are looking for.

This game shows that the cycle of violence is dangerous to become swept up in. Started by Joel, passed to Abby, then to Ellie, this cycle of killing caused both Ellie and Abby to lose themselves, and many people they cared about. This game caused me to care equally for the two of them, and made me deeply anxious during their two fights. I understood what was driving Ellie to kill Abby, but I didn't want her to do it. In the end, Ellie thinks of her last interaction with Joel, where she decides to try to forgive him for what he did to the Fireflies to save her, and decides to break the cycle of violence and allow Abby to escape. I think she made the right choice in the end. Killing Abby would not have given Ellie any closure, as she had already lost everything in her pursuit to that end. She could have had a peaceful life with Dina, but she threw it away and paid the price.

Even though this game had a deeply depressing ending, I am in no way disappointed with it. They had a story to tell, and however bleak it was, I think they told it well. I was moved in a way few games have been able to move me, and I mourn the death of Joel, and I feel sorry for what Ellie has become. The fact that ND makes me feel that way is not the sign of a bad game, but the hallmark of a truly special title, one that, just as the Last of Us 1 did, makes you care about its characters above all else.

Now this sequel is just one of the most boring game i ever played, the pacing is horrible, the gameplay loop consists of; looting > horde/boss fight > 1 hours of walking/talking/cutscenes, for 30 hour. It doesn't sound so bad if well executed but first both characters play exactly the same and second the writing is on par with the worse netflix production, the dialogues belong in an episode of 13 reasons why and the plot is so stupid i wonder if any mentally abled adult took part in the writing. To this add that you'll fight the same enemies over and over again in setpieces that you've already seen in better games.

On the graphic side the game looks really good but doesn't run smoothly and often suffers from framerate drop (even though the game only runs at 20-30 fps and even though i played it on a ps4 pro ).

Oh i forgot, almost all the environnments are grey and green and look copy/pasted except for the last part of the game (which was actually enjoyable, too bad it took 25 hours of watching paint dry to get there).

Overall there could be a decent game in all this mess but it's destroyed by the pacing and bad writing, for every good idea there are 10 bad ones. Really to think that this took 5 years to make and had close to unlimited budget is embarassing, kinda reminds me of the rise of skywalker :D

There were intense emotional moments, and looking back I can’t believe how my opinions of characters I HATED ultimately reversed somewhere along line. The gameplay was incredible and I am amazed at how much more depth is added with only a dodge, prone, and jump mechanic added to the combat. The set pieces were some of Naughty Dogs finest and each new encounter in a LENGTHY game always felt fresh. On a side note: All these 0’s came from before it was even physically possible to complete the game and they should be ignored. Do yourself a favor and PLAY this game. Expand

A game that fundamentally fails in execution, The Last of Us 2 never learned what made the first game so great. With uninteresting characters, a boring plot, and ham-fisted writing, the game becomes a chore to get through. The gameplay never evolved from the first, and the only big spectacle worthy moments feel hollow due to its failure to tell a story that actually grips.

Well, while the game has an incredible graphics and improved the first game in gameplay, something that already seemed difficult because the first game is a masterpiece, I was terribly disappointed by some creative decisions, such as the fact that in the preview videos of the game in previous years, it could be seen that Joel was alive during the story, as in the scene where he prevents Ellie from being discovered by the Wolves, a scene that they later replaced with Jesse, in addition to the first preview showing that Joel He accompanies Ellie in her revenge when she is playing the guitar and says "I am going to find and kill every last one of them", so in my personal opinion, they sold me a story and the one I bought was a totally different one, in addition to I do not know a living person who, in his right mind, when his father or father figure is killed in this case, kills everyone and lets the murderer live. I loved the story, I liked the inclusion of Abby, but the fact of killing Joel, made him play every minute with a feeling of frustration. We are waiting for this game for many years, we are going through a pandemic at this time, in which this game would have made a difference, by making the lives of many happy this year, that we are having a really bad time and that we save money for this game, money that could be spent on more important things.
