    The Last of Us Part 2 is a game about consequences, trauma, revenge, redemption, emotions and love. And all of this is very well portrayed by the almost impeccable direction. Which makes sense as more than two thousand people worked on the last of us 2, but for that many people working on a game, personally it ended up becoming disappointing.

    Gameplay against humans is more difficult    The Last of Us Part 2 is a game about consequences, trauma, revenge, redemption, emotions and love. And all of this is very well portrayed by the almost impeccable direction. Which makes sense as more than two thousand people worked on the last of us 2, but for that many people working on a game, personally it ended up becoming disappointing.

    Gameplay against humans is more difficult mainly thanks to dogs, but to balance you have silenced weapons. And against zombies easier thanks to new weapons, plenty of resources and Ellie's pocket knife. The addition of a Boss fight was interesting. The skill tree is much more complex than that of the first game, but most of the improvements are totally superfluous. The real problems are the fact that it is basically the same gameplay as 7 years ago and it ends up becoming quite repetitive and tedious towards the end of the Abby part, because you need to explore "all over again", the combat gets repetitive, your equipment and improvements are basically reset. Melee combat has improved, now it's more skill and less luck (except against dogs).

    The level design remains great. Ellie's diary is a really bad addition, I never thought a diary would add so much depth to a character. The game is very linear 99% of the time but still has a lot of focus on exploration, there are those who like it and some who don't, personally I liked it.

    The narrative again is very simple, but the feelings generated, the consequences of these simple actions on people and their emotions are very complex. And unfortunately the story focuses a lot on the development and personal drama of certain characters and there is very little development in the relationships between them (which was the focus of the first game), it hurt the game too much. This script is much better than that of the first game, much more directions and unpredictable events (in the first game there were exactly 2 that surprised me). But even with more events, these events end up being small and do not change the course of history much. The story of the first game is more 'solid' than that of this one, the general coverage was greater, it is easier for people to like it. For example: in the story of this one if you don't like Abby, half the game becomes horrible (for me it even worked). So it ends up being very personal if you think this game is better than the first, mainly because its strengths are different.

    The problem with the way they "folded" the story was that the predictability of it would compromise on the other half, since the story was bound to happen in a certain way. In addition to the huge problem generated by you being totally immersed in Ellie's story and what will happen next, only you need to "reject" the same story to continue where you left off and when you get there you are no longer filled with hatred , grudge, thirst for revenge and full of the urgency of what will happen next. What could be a problem for many was the fact that the game humanized characters only after you killed them, so their deaths had no weight. Personally I didn't think it was so bad because I don't think they needed to have a narrative weight, the goal was to kill the characters out of anger at what happened to Joel, the problem was that their humanization for me was relatively useless, it wasn't bad or tedious, just unnecessary. You can argue that it served you to see the other side of the story and regret it, and it's all right. I also thought that Abby saving and caring so much about Lev and Yara was forced and the script knew it and ****

    I found it very interesting how certain characters simply die with a shot to the head and thanks, you have to keep surviving and fighting. But the problem with this is that the script seems to have completely forgotten that they existed after their deaths, there is no more mention of them. And there is the fact that the dead characters are very superficial and have a tiny focus during the story. Another problem was that the first half of the game is far superior to the second and it bothers you during the game. And for some reason the writer appeals to pregnant women too much to make you care about the characters.

    Joel's scene is very good but it happened too soon, it lost much of its impact. And this scene needed to be much more impactful, one way that I saw many talking about would be to put the flashbacks before his death would solve this. Maybe it would solve more I liked how all the flashbacks were embedded in the story (with the exception of the party flashback that Ellie kisses Dina, this one was too late for no reason and could have helped in the initial immersion of the game). I think they needed to have given more focus to Joel before he died, before the sequence of his death he doesn't even appear, if they had created some current everyday scenes of Ellie and Joel it would have been a lot better, but it looked like they wanted to rush right to it.    … Expand

Went totally off track Neil Druckmann has destroyed a franchise and for that I am disgusted with him and what he did to Joel everything these days feels so forced and if you don’t like it they just scream at you and nothing gets resolved this game is not good and it should have never been made. They should’ve kept exploring Joel and Ellie Idk who thought it was a good idea to kill the franchise like that but wow what an idiot!… Expand

    While it does have great graphics and a wonderful sound, the gameplay is fluid but not on a near perfect level. Sometimes it feels too clumsy and not polished enough.
    The story on the other hand is nothing more than making a statement against men while focussing more and more on gender issues. With killing of the first games main character the story feels more constructed than anything else- while you shouldnt judge anybodys work solely on a political bias, the trailer are false marketing and nobody should ne encouraged to buy this game.    … Expand

    The Last of Us 2 is a kick in the dick for fans as they ruin or kill off likeable characters for LGBT rubbish that should NEVER be in these games. The graphics are very pleasant and the gameplay is okay but the overall experience feels terrible due to its bad story.

A mi me parece que un pedazo de m***da, porque realmente, pese a la "lección" de que si matan a tu compañero, hay que aceptarlo y listo (reverenda estupidez por cierto), ningún fan del primer juego quería ver este tipo de escenarios desagradables. La muerte de Joel es de lo más cutre, ¡al menos hubiera muerto luchando! No creo que un tipo que sobrevivió a todo lo anterior pueda dejarse asesinar tan fácilmente. Characters make atrocious decisions, unnecessary gore. Ending leaves much to be desired. I can say more about this game, but I just don't want to put my hands in this **** It's terrable.     I honestly tried to like this game, but their are too many issues that bog it down. The first game was a decent story told well, the writing wasn't spectacular yet it built up an actual world and made it believable. This game fails to do that, half way through I honestly forgot that this was suppose to be a post apocalyptic world, or that Clickers were in any way a threat to society.

    The writing is extremely basic and in your face. Every message is blatantly told to the player, and any form of subtlety doesn't exist. Characters know information that they shouldn't possibly know, and what little emotion that the story attempts to bring our misses it's mark.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The overall presentation of the game is borderline flawless. The graphics, gameplay, and attention to detail are absolutely second to none. Unfortunately they are all held back by an extremely poorly conceived plot that is creating backlash due to false advertising.

    Initially this game was marketed as a continuation of the journeys and character growth for Ellie and Joel. This was done by manipulating existing scenes in trailers, etc. The reality is Joel dies two hours in, you then spend 8 hours hunting down his murderer and then 8 hours as his murderer in a interlacing 3 days before ultimately coming to the conclusion that an eye for an eye would leave us all blind and it is important to forgive and sparing said murderer. A thing many of us already understand.

    The plot as a result comes across as extremely pretentious, preachy, and borderline misery porn as everything is slowly stripped away from the characters we came to love in The Last Of Us.

    Which is a shame because the social justice elements were handled very tactfully for the most part, but will likely result in hindering the causes more than helping them.

    The gameplay is a bit stale but still enjoyable as ever, little innovation is done regarding enemies however the improved ai and brutality make for a great improvement on the original.

    That said at the end of the day this is a game that will likely leave you saying why did I bother spending money on this or even bother playing it? No amount of gameplay can ever make up for that. As a result I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone.    … Expand

    Truly disappointing. A pretentious ego driven mess from start to finish, a waste of players time even when the price is inevitably reduced. The developer seems to have forgotten or completely misunderstood what made the first game special. The Last Of Us Part 2 is an unrelenting slog form start to finish, devoid of any grounded characters, interesting character relationships, or deeperTruly disappointing. A pretentious ego driven mess from start to finish, a waste of players time even when the price is inevitably reduced. The developer seems to have forgotten or completely misunderstood what made the first game special. The Last Of Us Part 2 is an unrelenting slog form start to finish, devoid of any grounded characters, interesting character relationships, or deeper meaning justifying the oppressive grimness it revels in. Did you know violence was bad and revenge pointless? The "game" (and it is necessary to put that in quotes) pulls the player by the ear through a deluge of dragged out cut-scenes and walking simulator sections of "gameplay" involving possibly the most dour and unrelatable characters ever committed to a video game, hammering home that simplistic message over a 20 odd hrs - which feels way too long - average playtime. The scant gameplay that is offered is largely unchanged from the first game and is serviceable. The graphics are very well done but as the industry as a whole has upped its game in this regard it is no longer a selling point to most people. I truly cannot understand what thought processes where occurring at Naughty Dog or Sony, this was a gimme and somehow not only have they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but have also have done irreparable damage to the cannon of The Last Of Us universe. In the first game the studio went for a grounded feeling, even though it was set in a generic zombie apocalypse the humanity of the characters and the relationships between them pulled the story through and made the game something very special. It is clear in this game they chose out of sheer hubris to disregard that which made the original a success and instead focus on an insipid plot that pulls grotesque cardboard characters through to its ignominious and pretentious conclusion. This sequel kills what fans loved about the original, replaces what was established with nothing of consequence and has the very real potential of being an IP killer.… Expand

What was naughty dog expecting? How can you so brutally push a political agenda down people’s throat? Are you guys really dumb enough to expect TLOU fans to see the hero die in the beginning of the game and like it? TLOU was all about Joel and Ellie and the sequel was all about how Naughty Dog destroys that relationship and the game itself. It in fact was not even a sequel, it was a SJW’s murder of the first game. Extremely disappointed with not only Naughty Dog but also Playstation. I kept this machine for 8 years only for this game and this is what I get. I have now decided to sell it and switch to PC. Thank you for your piece of trash, this review is what you get for killing beautiful story oriented games and characters.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The ultimate scene that kicks off the events of the entire game relies on completely retconning Joel and Tommy's characters. Throughout the first game, you see these two always being wary of any stranger. Joel even went as far as to attempt to run over a dude with a car because he knew that guy was faking his injury.

    Neil Druckmann comes along and goes, "Nope, let's just throw the entire canon away". He had Joel and Tommy suddenly do a complete 180 on their established characters. They tell a complete group of strangers where their hideout was and Joel told them his real name AFTER THE STRANGERS LOCKED THE DOOR IN THE CABIN.

    What's worse, is the game pathetically tries to get you to sympathize with the character who killed Joel. That attempt fell completely flat when we find out what motivated her to hunt him down: Joel killed the doctor, Abby's dad, who was about to do life-ending surgery on Ellie, who was shown to be an incompetent piece of garbage in the first game. That's right, the game wants you to feel sorry for Abby because her piece of s**t dad was killed for attempting to end Ellie's life without her consent.

    Gameplay is only marginally better than the story. It works, but it's nothing special. The sequel doesn't do much to evolve the mechanics from the 1st game. But if you want to do that, then you need to engage the player in other ways. Well, the game already failed with the story. How about enemy variety and behavior? Sad to say, the enemy AI is very questionable. You could be in their near direct vision and they would still not notice you. You could kill someone with an arrow and his/her companion would not have heard the sound.

    The problem is the pacing and spacing out of the gameplay loop. The first game did a good job spacing out the 'sneak around, gather supplies, kill enemies' phases with puzzles. The sequel throws out the puzzles entirely. As a result, you're left to wash, rinse, and repeat again and again and again for hours.

    Overall, the story is a 0/10 for completely failing barely 2 hours in. I'm sorry, but if you have to rely on retcons to jumpstart the plot, then that disqualifies the entire story. It's like how I don't need to read an entire essay if the thesis is completely garbage. The gameplay, at least, is serviceable, so that's why I'm giving the game a 2/10.    … Expand

    This is not the case for The Last of Us Part 2 unfortunately.

    But first I want to start with the positive things of this game.
    The Graphics and animations are beautiful, breathtaking even.
    I loved to explore and look at all the details and surroundings, it is really amazing
    how much work was put into all of this!
    The gameplay is pretty fun and very much like the first one,
    if you enjoyed the gameplay from the first one, you probably will have fun with this too.
    You can also play a lot with the difficulty settings and adjust the difficulty to challenge yourself
    if you like that. I really wish I could say more positive things for this game, but it ends here.

    The negative things are unfortunately the things that I loved the most in the first part.
    The world, characters and their relationships. I wanted to see more of that and
    you can only imagine how excited I was for the second part, hoping to see my beloved characters again and seeing another adventure with them.
    But Naughty Dog had other plans. The trailers didn't represent the real game,
    it hides a lot and even changed some of the scenes completely.
    They even said "This game will honor Joel and Ellie".
    After finishing the game I really don't understand how they can say something like that.
    Since when is spitting on your characters and destroying them completely, "honoring" them?
    I can't really trust Naughty Dog anymore after seeing everything they did to misguide their
    own fans and destroying most of the things that their fans loved.

    Our characters feel like they were swapped out, they do a lot of very uncharacteristic things
    and I couldn't believe that the same writer from The Last of Us 1
    wrote this story. There are a lot of plotholes and unrealistic things happening and
    it destroyed the immersion for me, I can't dive into a game that is so unlogically written
    and spits on everything that I loved from the first game.

    The story and the ending is just pointless and sad, you lose everything.
    This isn't a satisfying ending for this series.
    It would have been better if The Last of Us ended after the first Part.
    This is not a worthy successor.
    I personally don't recommend this game for passionate fans from the first one,
    but if you want to play it anyway, experience it for yourself and maybe you like it.
    Unfortunately don't, I will just pretend that there is no Part 2, otherwise I can't really cope with this.

    If you value great storytelling and character work, avoid this game. Closer to fan fiction written by a disturbed teenager than a Triple-A title with boatloads of cash and a wildly successful first installment. This definitely taints the catalog of PlayStation exclusives.

    I'm so sorry but the story in this game. .... I really don't know what to say. I'm still kind of angry. First my most likeable character gets killed and there is nothing I can do to prevent it ... I kill people to get to the end and the last hope I actually had for this game is dashed because choice is taken away from me again at the very end. I don't like this story. It makes no sense.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is an insult to the gaming community from a Developer that did so well with The Last of Us 1 with it's storytelling and gameplay, to follow such an incredible game with this is horrific to say the least.

    The gameplay is clunky and has seen no real improvements since the first game which is surprising considering how much time they had to create it.

    The visuals are really no better in comparison to the first but has opted for a darker and woefully dull colour scheme.

    Lastly the main glaring issue with this game, the storyline, in some woke new age where Naughty Dog's main man Neil Druckmann has decided to remove the fun from his game to portrait a forward thinking agenda, he has completely undone all the previous work from its predecessor in the way this storyline has affected the main characters in such a disrespectful manner to which their demise was played out and all at the hands of a woman so muscular that I've lived a hefty portion of my life never seeing one so 'manish' in human society.

    All in all this game couldn't have paid me enough money to write a good review about this shambles of a 'AAA title', i would even go so far to say that i wish i hadn't played the first game if it meant saving me from this level of disappointment, Naughty Dog had so long to make this game a hit and couldn't even accomplish that, if i were you i would avoid this game at all costs and i believe that you and your wallet will thank me.    … Expand

The story has been ripped of it's charm and is now full of nothing but cheap shock value and parts meant purely to just cause anger. Spoiler part: The story has been immediately ruined in the first few hours when Joel is killed off for shock value. The angry child of a girl who did it is one of the main characters now and you play as her for a large part of the rest of the game. The story tries to be spun as Ellie being the bad guy for going after revenge, even though she literally watched Joel's head get beat in in front of her. Ellie is then to the side storywise, and is a very one track personality for the remainder, instead of the very lively and deep character she was in the previous game. Some games pull the "flip the player character trick" well; TLOU 2 is not one of them. Pathetic showing from Naughty Dog, and I genuinely wish I could get a refund.… Expand
