    I waited this game for more than 5 years , and i’m disappointed as much as it is possible! Music and visual part is good , but story and “new wave interpretation” of old characters are awful!

    Honeslty the story was just stupid.
    I tried to love it from the start but just couldn't in the end.
    Once you finish the game you realise you literally wasted your entire time.
    Stupid decision to make Abby a playable character for half the game.
    Would have been sooooooo much better if the first 10% of the game was Joel & Ellie roaming around.
    Pre much the tutorial.
    Have Ellie found out about the secret Joel had about her & then have Joel get kidnapped by Abby & her group.
    The whole purpose of the game should be Ellie finding Joel & having her mad at him for what he did.
    Debating if she even wants to find him.
    When she finally does find him he could be missing a hand & have an eyeball ripped out.
    So you've seen him proper tortured.
    She can then be held down in front of him.
    She then locks eyes with him & says "I forgive you".
    Then bam.
    Joel gets hit in the head.
    The screen goes black.
    Credits rolls.
    After the credits it shows Ellie with massive anger & vengeance in her eyes.
    You then hear.
    "I'm gonna **** kill you".
    Then you just see on the screen something to do with the The Last of Part III.
    Would be a great game & make you really keen for the third chapter.

    The best game i have ever played.

    The story is fantastic, the graphics and animations are truly next level, the game last about 30 hours on the medium difficulty, the gameplay isn't change a lot but the crawling, climbing, jumping & dodging makes the game a lot more fluid en more fun. The people that review bomb this game after the leeks and before they played it, **** you! And    The best game i have ever played.

    Naughty Dog(or we can say Neil Druckman) is too proud to tell a story well. A good story is not rare. But how to tell it well，it's the key point. 7 years ago, Naughty Dog give us a perfect answer. But now, they lost the talent.

    I wanted to love this game but it left me disappointed. Story, characters and dialogue don’t shine like in the first game. That said, I’m certainly not on board with everything the haters are raging about. Didn’t mind the shocker early on (remember, harsh post-apocalyptic world?) and didn’t mind the surprising twist in the middle. However, towards the end I totally lost my joy: the endingI wanted to love this game but it left me disappointed. Story, characters and dialogue don’t shine like in the first game. That said, I’m certainly not on board with everything the haters are raging about. So, the game left me unsatisfied, but I wouldn’t want to have missed out on it: parts of it are really good, and subpar naughty dog-characters are still better than average gaming characters. A women who wants to play a game as a strong kick as woman that isn't in a skimpy outfit and giant **** I was worried that I wasn't going to enjoy the story after hearing negative reviews from the leak. Boy was i surprised by how fantastic the story telling and game play was. I loved playing as Abby. I loved the story from both sides. The pain I felt after seeing the story from the otherside. Meeting the people and dogs id just brutally murdered as Ellie. Wow, what a roller-coaster. All I wanted in the end was redemption for both of them. Game play was fun and challenging at times. Ill be playing this many more times. Loved it… Expand

They are each the heroes of their own stories, a fact which for many consumers, has become hard to comprehend. Gameplay is a major improvement overall, including mechanics which aid those who would otherwise struggle to play such games. The visuals and gameplay is outstanding, but the real star is the storytelling. Bold, dividing... a tour de force that has many talking about. I hope this isn’t the end of the story, for it feels there is more to tell. If you own a PlayStation and enjoy story driven games, you won’t find one better for years to come.… Expand

    Admit it, gameplay is fine but story sucks. This is how you turn a good game to a good for nothing crap. I can see some people kinda like it cuz they're maybe new to the game but for most of those who still defend for it's boring and meanless story, stop being hyprocites.

    I'll start from storyline, because it is storyline, what provoked maximal resonance.
    This game neither about gays nor about trans-genders, neither about strong women nor about feminism. This game about hatred and forgiveness, about problems in mutual understanding and just about life. In real life absolutely not all people are beautiful inside and outside, not all people are heterosexual and every character, so loved by fans, can be killed at any moment. This game asks so many questions, and show us, how monochrome our life vision can be, how hard for us can be put ourselves in place of another people. If you ask me, this game masterfully playing with our feelings and worldview, rotating story way by 180 degrees when it needed.
    Tightness of the story can be disputable moment, but I'm not sure that without it, we could feel what we have felt.
    About other parts of the game.
    Pros:
    Graphics is great, especially if keep in mind fact, that PS4 platform has been released 7 years ago. Gameplay and enemy AI are improved in comparsion with first part.
    Sound is not so cool as in Hellblade, but still no complains. Music is great, but worse than in 1st part.

    Cons:
    Sometimes is highly noticeable, that NPCs with same models staying on distance of few meters from each other, that spoils impression about the game.
    Allies AI still can be boring a bit. Especially for Dina.
    Music is good, but worse than in 1st part in my opinion.
    Hard level (not maximal) is too easy. I always had full inventory and died just 20-30 times during all playtime.

    As I already said, my score is 8.5/10. So why 10? Just because lot of people gave 0/10 even if noted good visual, music, gameplay etc. Even if you totally disliked the game because of Joel death, lesbian Ellie, heavy-proteined Abby or something, it doesn't deserve 0/10 at all, because, as you said, it has good graphics and interesting gameplay. So my 10 is just for balance.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I saw the awful rating from users, I was really confused. And now, when I've finished it, I understood: typical users aren't very smart. The game plot deconstructs the plot and the main idea of the fisrt part. The fisrt part declares "You must get, what you want to. Price doesn't matter" And the second part asks "Does the price really not matter? And how big price can you pay?". Ellie's falling into the dark, when she started to kill everybody, killed the pregnant woman and became so cruel, and Abby's rising, when she saved Yara and Lev, swap them. Ellie started to seem like a villain, and Abby started to seem like a hero. So, when the end is coming, you can not understand: who you want to save. And it's great

The whole story is kinda predictable, the only shocking moment was how lame Joel's dead was, as the main character on the first game I think he should've got a more "heroic" dead, maybe saving Eli or Tommy, it just wasn't enough to end an epic character in that way. Besides, pointless Eli's journey going after Abby, nothing exciting, since the moment you get to play as Abby, you know that she obviously won't die. From the point of view; having Joel kidnapped would've been a more satisfying journey: Joel trying to escape Abby and getting back to Jackson. Meanwhile from Eli's POV trying to reach Joel in time. I think Joel would've gotten a better dead by saving Eli. So that Abby would've escaped and Eli could have gone after her and reducing the whole revenge and pointless exploration and massive areas with almost NO action at all.… Expand

    For a lover of the first game in the series and a major follower of The Last of Us, I found this game rather disappointing. If you want to get slapped in the face by an agenda driven plot this is the game for you.

The reason I'm writing it is because I think this game received a lot of undeserved negative reviews... From insecure people who can try and grow over themselves to see a bigger (and brighter) picture.

    I understand that for many players the first part became the beloved game of the decade, creating high expectations for the Part II. But listen me out...

    Ellie. There were obvious clues in the first game that Ellie was homosexual and I'm not even talking about the kiss itself. Remember how awkwardly she tossed the adult magazine out of the car window? If you are disappointed by her being gay despite the beauty of the game and its compelling and complex narrative, go read some books, schedule a visit to a psychotherapist or other mental health professional. Discuss it with him/her. Before you grow old and become your racist homophobic uncle.

    Joel. You are disappointed that Joe is dead? I get it. But that's because you watched too many marvel movies. How many people (and infected) did he kill in the first game? He survived all of those encounters. He even survived a major injury which I find hard to believe but nonetheless he survived against all odds. That's more unbelievable than what actually happened to him in the beginning of the Part II.

    Abby. Her story shows us that she has higher ethical standards than our stubborn protagonist Ellie. She sparred Ellie's life twice and despite that Ellie returned to kill her, losing (once again) her new family — Dina and JJ... As well as her little and ring fingers and thus her ability to play guitar, which reminded her of Joel.

    This is a beautiful game with engaging mechanics and complex characters. We can witness the consequences of their decisions and take a note to become better versions of ourselves.    … Expand

    Part II delves deeper into the gorgeous and brutal world these characters are in. Playing through this game I experienced every emotion. These characters go through hell and back and somehow keep fighting. It’s an incredible piece of art that will have fans talking and debating. This is a must play. A masterpiece.

Данную игру стоит воспринимать как некий опыт, который стоит пережить. Игра точно противопоказана людям, которые играют в игры только ради развлечения.

    Bold storytelling. It really comes together by the time the credits roll. The fact that most people are complaining about the story and not the gameplay shows just how good the storytelling is. This will be hailed as a classic and is a prime contender for best game of the year!

    Если же искать в этой игре продолжение серии, то она тянет на 5, максимум 6 из 10.     Про техническую составляющую не вижу смысла говорить. Красивая графика,красивый геймдизайн,красивые анимации. Прочее:очень хороший саундтрек- он сильно отличается от первой части,как по мне,стал более мрачным¿
    По поводу геймплея:я не монимаю придирок к нему,каким он должен быть-это не калл оф дюти,где вам могут дать турельную секцию с бесконечными патронами,это постапокалипсис,где у тебя один патрон в револьвере для себя. Единственное-эта игра сильно растянута,можно было убрать пару коридоров и арен,это было бы только на пользу игре. Она как жевательная резинка:ты ее распробовал,у нее кончился вкус,но ты продолжаешь ее жевать Моя оценка этой игре 8,5-9 баллов. Я давно не играл в игре,которые доставляли бы столько эмоций.     The most controversial game in the most beloved franchise got a lot of people hates it for stupid reasons and many those who love it, with the right reasons and true understanding of the intention of the developers. Which side you stand on defines you, not the game itself.

This is the type of game that was so incredibly bad and lived up to none of the expectations I had, that I felt I needed to make an account just to review it. This is the type of game that if I were getting a prostate exam and I had the option to play a game and this was the only choice. I wouldn't play the game, I would focus intently on the exam instead. My first major gripe was the game was too long. Clocking in at almost 20 hours. If this is the type of game that's so bad that the only time I'm willing to even consider playing it is during a prostate exam I definitely don't want my prostate exams to last 20 hours and I also don't want to return that many times to equal 20 hours. My second major gripe is missed opportunities in the gameplay. You're going to introduce a completely new character and completely overlooked the possibility for new gameplay mechanics. Such as scavenging for all the necessary dietary supplements needed. We could have had mini games involved with eating massive amounts of protein and calories. Using a syringe to inject enhancements. Missed potential fun. but hey I'm not going to sit here and just talk about the bad stuff this game has, now on to the good stuff

    The game luckily is not permanently installed to your hard drive. It is VERY deletable. if you own the physical copy the game, IT does eject from the PlayStation. It is not taking permanent residency in your system. just don't make the same mistake I did and eject the physical copy and forget to delete the install data.    … Expand

    Thank you personally to Druckmann that my 7 years of waiting were in vain. Great picture, but the gameplay is not for the 30 hour game. It’s better to keep silent about the plot. It is a pity that such an excellent work of animators and artists will be remembered for such a dull game

However the game retcons the first one. Characters make stupid decisions and it feels as if you are forced into situations and places the writer has shoved you in rather then let you pick or understand. Example- in the first game it’s made clear that the surgery to get a vaccine is not 100% guaranteed and that it’s a shot in the dark that we must take to at least try. So you can understand why Joel did what he did. You can agree or disagree with it but you at least understand and get his reasoning and motivation. In the sequel a key turning point is when after you kill Nora and get the location of where Abby is... you decide to get tommy and take Dina back to jackson to give birth in a controlled proper environment. When given the choice of following Jesse to Tommy’s potential location or stealing a boat and going after Abby.... you are forced to go after Abby. After killing Owen and his pregnant gf you leave your map behind with your location circled on it. It’s frustrating because the average player would say “get the map” “don’t circle your exact base” anyways you killed all Abby friends, you found tommy and everyone is ready to go and yet Ellie still is set on going after Abby. To sum this rant up. It’s very very frustrating when well written and developed characters are forced in making stupid decisions and dragging you along with them. Simply put it makes the game un enjoyable and I’d rather just speed run it listening to music because I no longer care about what happens to the characters or what they do. Because bad decisions and selfish choice after selfish choice just gets really really annoying. It’s a 4/10 because this game is the ideal - put this on to show your friends what a PS4 pro can really do and how far games have come. It’s a tech demo.… Expand

    I have deliberately and actively avoided any and all previews, reviews, spoilers and everything else dealing with this game until I played it through completely, to not become biased or spoiled. Because of that I did not know what to expect at all really, it was a long time since I played through the first TLOU. Owing to this I was really surprised to see all the negative reviews for this game when I finally checked them out on YouTube and Metacritic, which mainly focuses on the story and how bad it is. Many reviews also calls the story woke, SJW-bull****, politicized et.c. and I just don't get that. I have understood that there has been some controversy between Naughty Dog and users where ND has tried to silence previews and leaks, and also some deliberate disinformation but I haven't read up on it in great detail. One example is a number of reviewers are griping about the fact that you have to kill guard dogs in the game. I mean come on, it's a game set in a very broken and hostile post apocalyptic environment where it is kill or be killed, you kill most everything and everyone in the game.

    Part 2 - Review

    Right away, you are met with an extremely beautiful game. Some cutscenes in particular could almost be mistaken for scenes from a movie. The scenery is breathtaking and I just marveled at the beauty of it all and wanted to explore every detail of this world. You are introduced to Joel and Ellie in their new settlement where they live and thrive amongst lots of other people, patrolling the surrounding areas for infected and generally seem to have a good life in general. As the story unravels though, you realize that not all is good between Joel and Ellie and that he hasn't been truthful to her about what exactly happened and why, with the Fireflies at the hospital when he saved her. The beginning of the game is really sweet and calm, but this is soon changed when you're introduced to an unknown man and woman watching the settlement from afar, discussing luring someone out. It's fairly obvious that they're talking about Joel or Tommy.
    After some patrol mission the woman is saved by Joel and Tommy and this leads to Joel being killed in front of Ellie in the most brutal way by the woman he saved, who we now know as Abby, a member of the WLF and a former Firefly. This is a turning point for Ellie of course, since the game henceforth is about exacting revenge for Joel.
    Halfway trough the game Ellie and Abby meet in a stand off and the player is suddenly made to play Abby instead. This seems to be a huge gripe for most players, and it was for me too at first, but then I realized that it was kinda interesting to see the other side of the story, what made Abby tick and why was she so hell bent on killing Joel. I did not enjoy playing through all of Seattle again though, I think that they could have found another timeline for Abby somehow, but I get why, it's logical.

    The plot is generally well written in my opinion and serves its purpose. The game sadly becomes quite repetitive, with all the little quests that must be done, and everything is always so far away with immense amounts of hurdles to overcome, even for the smallest of tasks.
    The game is also extremely linear, but this is okay since the story is the central piece here, not being able to sandbox around in a huge world.

    The crafting system for upgrading weapons and skills I think works fairly well. Not very advanced but it serves its purpose, and instead of getting bogged down with minute details and stats and such, the focus of the game is again the story.

    The fighting mechanics are fairly simplified but sufficient I think. The so-called challenges for getting heavy doors open and what have you are a token though. Simply hold the triangle button down and everything goes well. The same goes for fighting off enemies that have you in their grip, mash square and you're all right. This I think could have been done in a more complex way to make the player actually work for success and have a harder time. Or they could have done away with it completely and just made a cutscene instead. As it is now it's just redundant and boring.

    The game finally ends with Abby and Ellie meeting again and Ellie first saving Abby instead of killing her, and then suddenly making a 180 and demanding that she fights her. Ellie once again spares Abby and they go their separate ways. Ellie returns home to discover that she has lost everything. Her house is empty, save for a guitar that Joel gave her, which she can no longer play properly since Abby bit off two of Ellies fingers. It's a really sad ending to a sad game and I think it's a correct decision to not end the game on a happy-go-lucky note. It's a dark world where everybody struggles to survive and it seems a more plausible situation if this was a real scenario, rather than humanity suddenly living in peace with one and other. It's horrible, it's gut wrenching, and I love it.    … Expand

    It's not right to review-bomb a game that you haven't even spent some time in or given a chance. I watched TheRadBrad play the whole thing through and while yes, there were certainly... unexpected moments, the game as a unified whole is nothing short of a masterpiece--linear storytelling perfected. If you haven't gotten around to playing or watching it yet, I highly recommend that you do.

    The Last of Us Part II is a fine follow up to the first game, there are plot holes, but the over all story I think is okay, it seams more human and real. Visually and audibly this game is a masterpiece, its definitely worth playing.

As for Ellie’s story arc it’s all about revenge until she forgives and it doesn’t happen in a second just like everyone is saying . She enjoys killing two of them . She breaks after making Nora talk . She didn’t want to kill Mel but she did and after that she just wants to go back but she has to see it through until she remembers joel wouldn’t want that . That’s the trigger but the build up for that forgiveness is there from the moment she kills Nora . As for abby the whole point is about the circle of violence . She gets revenge u begin to hate her then u see the backstory u see she cares about people u see she is the same as Ellie maybe even more likable . That’s the beauty ofDruckman’s characters . Don't spoiled it on your self and look at the ending on YouTube...just play the game you'll thank me later , the game it self is long but well worth every minute and penny .

But the praise the first game of the series got mainly wasn't due to technical stuff. It was such a success because of the story and the characters and that's why part 2 should be judged for those factors as well. And they just don't hold up.
    Part 1 was great because it was ambigous. As the player you had to judge the character's actions for yourself and there was room for interpretation. The writing was subtle and emotional. Yes, there were tense moments, shocking moments and sadness. But it was balanced out with lightheartesness and tragic beauty.
    Part 2 throws that out of the window. It's one horrible emotional gut punch after another. Horrible things happen – but they don't make you pause and reflect because it's just a neverending onslaught of misery. At a certain point you stop feeling connected to the story because it's so incredibly obvious these things happen purely for shock value. A lot of contrived stuff as well. The main characters have so much plot armour – they're saved at the last moment again and again and again.
    I could look past that, honestly. But what really disappointed me was how heavy handed the writing was. Gone are the subtleties. It's so obvious how the game wants to make you feel throughout the story – to a manipulative degree. But despite this I never felt connected to the characters because I was never onboard with any of their horrible and often times stupid choices.

    I realy don't care how many dogs I get to pet as Abby, I still don't like her. The writers wanted the player to feel for her so badly, but I can't bring myself to do it. Even if she gets the most fun gameplay sequences. The problem I have with Abby is that she never ever reflects on her own actions. She's the one who encouraged her father to perform the operation that would have killed Ellie. And she never once questions her decision or her father's. She thinks she's justified in the beginning of the story and she still feels that way at the end. She even becomes Lev's Joel and kills her own people to save him. And yet she never makes that connection and never feels bad for what she did.

    I was disappointed in Ellie's character development as well. She flip flops about whether or not she should kill Abby all the time. The story might have been salvageable if it had ended on the farm. But now I don't even feel invested in what happens to any of the characters in the inevitable third installment.

    My biggest gripe with the game is that it tries to make you feel bad about playing it. What kind of decision is that? The message of the game is "revenge is bad, don't kill people". Ellie and Abby lose so much because they can't grasp that simple idea. And in the end both of them refrain from killing each other when they get the chance. But while the game tries to hammer down that moral standpoint, it makes you kill endless amounts of NPCs and makes it fun to pick them off one by one. That kind of makes the message of the game hypocritical. The whole story revolves around the consequences of Joel killing one NPC in the first installment. And here we are, killing hundreds more. So TLOS2 is basically a guy wearing leather boots and a coat made from polar bear cubs preaching about the moral superiority of vegan food.    … Expand

But the way the loss of fingers was implemented leads me to assume that they were made from marmalade. Even pruning shears won't cut bone so easily. And such nonsense in the game in bulk.     TLOU1 é o jogo favorito de MUITA gente que esperou 7 anos pra jogar a continuação, é compreensível que estejam putos. O Joel morre precocemente em uma cena MUITO forçada (que joga no lixo uma das principais características dele, desconfiar de tudo e todos), e depois você é obrigado a jogar METADE do jogo inteiro com a assassina dele que tem 0 carisma e nem sequer apareceu nos trailers, esses mesmos trailers que baitam na cara dura que o Joel teria alguma participação na história, onde acharam que isso daria certo?.

    O jogo foi vendido como se a Ellie fosse a protagonista, todos os gameplays eram com ela e a Naughty Dog nunca mencionou que você jogaria 50% do jogo com outra personagem que nunca foi introduzida antes; e qual é o problema?, bom, a grande maioria das pessoas ignoram spoilers, gameplays e vazamentos antes de comprar o jogo, então muita gente se arrependeu de ter gastado 260 REAIS quando viu que era completamente diferente dos trailers. Propaganda falsa? Nah.

    E eu nem citei o casal Ellie Dina, que parece que existe só pra Ellie ser lésbica. Elas já começam o jogo se gostando e isso faz com que o relacionamento delas seja totalmente whatever, zero química e zero construção de personagem.
    ---"Ah, então você não quer lésbicas em jogos né? homofóbico incel".
    A DLC de The Last "Left Behind" tem a Ellie se revelando lésbica ao beijar a amiga dela, isso fez total sentido dentro da história e teve uma construção bem feita pra acontecer. Eu fiquei surpreso positivamente quando aconteceu e achei que o casal teve muita química, adoraria que desse pra elas continuarem juntas.
    Muita gente pensa o mesmo, veja a reação positiva do Pewdiepie ao beijo do Left Behind e veja como ele ficou totalmente indiferente à todas as cenas com a Dina em TLOU2. Tem a ver com roteiro mal escrito e relacionamentos colocados apenas com o propósito de agradar um grupo ao envés de agregar na história, não com preconceito.

    Eu daria um 8/10 pro roteiro de TLOU2 se fosse apenas uma fanfic, eu diria que é relativamente bem escrito, a ideia de "vingança" é algo que se distancia muito da história do primeiro jogo e se mostra algo muito raso como fator principal da premissa, mas funcionaria em uma fanfic, que quase sempre tem como ideia principal fornecer algo diferente pra quem está lendo sem manter um devido padrão de qualidade e congruência com a história original, afinal, é feito por fãs, e não escritores profissionais. O problema é que TLOU2 não é uma fanfic e tão pouco uma obra independente de outra, é a "Parte 2" de um jogo que definiu uma geração e é considerado umas das maiores obras primas nos videogames, então essas incongruências e problemas de roteiro em relação ao primeiro jogo não podem ser ignorados e a história não deve ser analisada como algo singular.

    Concluindo, mesmo com todos esses defeitos é bem possível que você goste do jogo se você se interessar pela Abby, mas, caso isso não aconteça, você vai jogar metade do jogo sem vontade pra ser recompensado com um final horrível e broxante (O final ser ruim/medíocre é um dos poucos consensos entre quem gostou e quem não gostou do jogo). Repetindo, é um personagem que nem apareceu nos TRAILERS.
    The Last of Us 2 poderia ter entrado na lista de melhores jogos de todos os tempos ao lado de TLOU1 se a intenção dos roteiristas fosse apenas fazer uma ótima continuação que agradasse à todos, mas eles foram arriscados, desde o início sabiam que muita gente iria odiar (o vazamento de um ex-funcionário revoltado e a saída de 70% da equipe de desenvolvimento da Naughty Dog provam isso), eles insistiram no erro porque queriam "quebrar barreiras" e tirar o jogador da tal zona de conforto, afinal, dane-se quem se decepcionar com o jogo, são só preconceituosos ou gente que não se deu ao trabalho de entender o propósito da história, certo?.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
