    This game is not for everyone. Some people will not be happy to play this game after playing the first, and that’s something you’ll have to understand if you choose to play the Last of Us Part 2. The gameplay is very finely tuned in my opinion, but my biggest critique would be the amount of time the player has to spend collecting items. Graphically, the game is absolutely gorgeous and I have no complaints. I encountered almost no glitches or bugs, which was very nice. Now, onto the story. The story is what brought this game down to an 8 rather than a 9 for me. Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked what the developers were trying to do, and I was able to look past the “ludonarrative dissonance” of it all. My issues were mostly with the pacing and progression of the story. Sometimes one quest would drag on for a ridiculously long time, just to give no character insights or narrative progression. There were essentially three chunks of the game, and the first two could have been cut down considerably. Unfortunately there were also times that something would happen too quickly and receive far too little time to leave an emotional impact. I understand that in some situations this is to provide realism, but sometimes it seemed strange given the drawn out nature of some aspects of the story. Contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed the ending. I think it perfectly illustrated the theme of forgiveness. The problem with this is the amount of time we were forced to play a game about revenge. If this game was closer to 15-20 hours, I absolutely think it would be easier to understand that this game isn’t about revenge, it’s about forgiveness. I also have other problems with the narrative, but I think they’re mostly subjective, and if you go into the game unbiased, there’s an chance you will like them and a chance you will dislike them. Overall, I think this game is getting a bad rap from people who have never played it. If you play it and dislike it, I respect your opinion and want to hear where you’re coming from. I liked it, so try to go into it unbiased, and you might too!… Expand

Not only did I have another chance to be immersed in a world that naughty dog generated, I wanted to relive the characters that I grew to love and adore. This game has taken a very different approach to part 1 and I would be lying to say that I was not worried when I finally hit the start button on the PlayStation. The detail in the world naughty dog creates is really nothing short of spectacular. As the game unfolds, the characters and their stories that play out before you brings different perspectives to the unforgiving world you have been thrown into. Игра очень сильно понравилась, максимальная детализация, оч классный сюжет, вызывающий бурю эмоций, говорю как фанат первой части, прошедший ее как минимум 15 раз на PlayStation 3, и столько же на PlayStation 4, и выбил платину на первую часть как только эта игра появилась на PlayStation 4, прочитал кучу комиксов и фанфиков, и могу сказать что вторая часть очень качественно сделанная игра, но она не лучше чем первая, это точно. Но! Мне не понравилось то, что дают играть за убийцу джоэла, мне просто хотелось убить эбби, а не проникатся к этому персонажу, меня можно понять, ибо я 7 лет любил этого персонажа, а его так жестоко убивают, как фанату-это очень больно потерять любимый тандем, так ещё и отомстить нельзя-это обидно. эту игру перепроходить несколько раз невозможно, по крайней мере для меня-слишком уж тяжело смотреть на всю боль, которую испытывают мои любимые персонажи.     Yo personalmente le proporciono un 9.6, es una historia increíble, cruda y difícil de digerir en un principio pero vale la pena hacer reflexión de ella y como he dicho antes depende completamente de usuario saber o no saber interpretarla.
    Respecto a la "agenda política" que mencionan los otros usuarios, depende del mismo jugador, si os molesta jugar con una mujer que tenga una preferencia diferente a la heterosexual o tratar temas de este tipo, solo recomiendo que se mantengan alejados del juego si no están dispuestos a tolerar lo anterior. Sin embargo quiero recalcar que esto no afecta para nada la trama del juego, es algo secundario que le aporta personalidad a Ellie y no probar el juego solo por esto hace que te pierdas de muchas cosas.
    Puede que algunas cosas de está trama sean difíciles de digerir, pero es que en realidad la propia existencia humana es difícil de llevar, porque somos nosotros mismos quienes nos devoramos, quienes nos destruimos y esto se ve perfectamente reflejado en el título.
    Así que jugador Yo recomiendo dar una oportunidad a esta increíble joya, que al igual que el primero hacen de tu moral una increíble lucha y si os gustan juegos de este tipo, con todo gusto recomiendo probarlo.    … Expand

Graphics, action and storytelling were a great and bigger step from its predecessor. It's a dark and brutal game but beautiful at the same time. I can see why some people hate it because of the emotional attachment to certain characters in part 1 and how they were used in part 2. Despite the early heartbreaking moment that most wishes didn't happen. I thought it was necessary and having the ability to play both sides of the story to get the perspectives is what makes this game great. I hated Abby in the beginning and learned to love the character as I played throughout to which I had a hard time playing when coming to the confrontations between Ellie and Abby. This game is definitely worth the money and does not deserve the hate it's getting. However, I wished the game was even longer or had the multiplayer mode as it did in part 1. Excited for the direction it'll take in part 3 if ND decides to make a sequel.… Expand

The storytelling, if done in a different order, I believe would have made the dynamic between the player and Abby more interesting. However, because Joel died almost immediately, and we knew who did it, making us play as Abby for 6+ hours felt forced. I found myself rushing because I was kind of uninterested in Abby; I felt betrayed by her, so why would I want to play her? They should have humanized her BEFORE she killed Joel.

    Otherwise, the game was a massive 10/10 for me. I love the graphics, the attention to detail, and the ending was honestly perfect to end Ellie's character arch.    … Expand

    This game is a masterpiece! If people can't understand what Naughty Dog is serving them on the table it's their fault, not the company's ( I am referring to the plot). I think it's unacceptable that people who haven't even played the game to rate it with a 0 or with a 3. Grow up. The game is for open minders, not for sheeps.

    This game is a masterpiece and an emotional rollercoaster. It capture the dark tone of this world perfectly and the oscar winning performances from the actors gives extreme depth to the characters. There is no hero in this nor a villain but all are survivors trying to look after their own. It's so much more than just the cycle of violence

    The last of Us part 2 being the biggest challenge naughty dog has had it is definitly a must play for the people who enjoyed the first game.
    Besides the Breathtaking gameplay and graphics that look stuning the story is the main foval point and the better.
    All do i can see why people would not enjoy this game no one can deny That the story is inovative and is amazing!

    This is the best game experience i've ever had (in 23 years of gaming), TLOU2 is really almost perfect, the story and the characters, the mimics, the graphics in total, the sound, the atmosphere. The controls feel far better than in part 1, the characters are more responsive, the enemies are way smarter. And i have never felt so curious about what happens next. The story is outstanding!This is the best game experience i've ever had (in 23 years of gaming), TLOU2 is really almost perfect, the story and the characters, the mimics, the graphics in total, the sound, the atmosphere. The controls feel far better than in part 1, the characters are more responsive, the enemies are way smarter. And i have never felt so curious about what happens next. The story is outstanding! And i love this game for setting new standards in being modern, real, authentic. I love this game for switching perspectives, for feeling into other characters and into 'enemies', for all this deep emotions, for not once again a perfect superhero like Tomb Raider, for not once again showing faceless and mindless enemies without emotions and stories, for Ellie seeking revenge and showing us how wrong this is, for Abby, the main enemy, being more empathic and sympathic than Ellie. And i love this game for Ellie and Dinas fantastic love story. This is the first game of a new era. And it will always be the standard to meet with. Yes, this game is often brutal and violent and depressingly emotional, the story often hurts so bad you almost can't stand it. However, while playing this game you can feel that this game is 'good' to the core. TLOU 2 is next level in so many ways. If you do not have a PS4 yet, this game is reason enough to get one. Best game ever played!

    A great game, awesome revenge cycle story. Fun diverse game play. Awesome cast. Heart wrenching scenes and nail biting finale in which I had to pause multiple times before I could handle it ending. Which was a bit surprising and when I thought it would end another scene started.

    Completely recommend, but play part 1 first.

    Naughty dog can really be proud of their job and shouldn't listen to the **** that destroyed the game online even though most of them haven't played it.
    I'm looking forward to playing part 3 or getting to live Ellie's story with comics, series, whatever, there's just so much to say and make about this universe that you never get enough of it.

    最后艾比还是挺惨的，那么期待可以找到火萤，但是最后被欺骗了，连自己的伙伴都保护不了，至少当时乔尔还是保护到了艾力，自己活着也有意义了。艾比不但没有保护到，还坑了自己的同伴，那受到了应该有惩罚，我觉得这个比死还要痛苦。

I hated how they killed Joel so early and I didn’t get a chance to play as him at all. I also really hated how I was forced to play Abby. But as the game went on I got the story and it was compelling. The Abby parts were actually fun because she had awesome weapons. In the end I was actually hoping the two could some how reconcile. But I commend naughty dog for being able to show both sides of a story and genuinely make you care for both sides. For what it’s worth I think those who complain about the story on how they forced you to like Abby are the type of people who always complain without providing any alternatives. Naughty dog had a story it wanted to tell and it required us to like the bad guy. Not only like the bad guy but like the bad guy who killed a beloved character we spent the majority of the previous game playing as. It’s a mountain for them to climb and I don’t know how else they could have achieved this. I still don’t really like Abby. But I get her side. People are rarely the villain in their own story.… Expand

    My favorite game ever, this will be the game of the decade if a top contender, the story is very well plotted, to get the feeling of playing as abby who i once hated because of what she did to Joel, they made her reasons justified. And the story of ellie is heartbreaking and makes what this story great. 10/10 would recommend anybody play

    First 1/3rd was amazing. Couldn't leave the game because I was so wrapped up in the storyline. 2nd third became slightly monotonous but was important for character development. Third third of the game was edge of the seat storyline again. Couldn't wait to see how it finished and wrapped it all off.

    The environment and combat/stealth system is actually awesome. I played on hard for my first play through and enjoyed playing conservatively when it came to encounters. Getting to explore/scavenge between fights was one of my favorite things to do. I loved reading notes left behind by others. Though that’s true from the first game as well.

    I also loved that the Infected played a bigger part even though they weren’t the main focus of the game. Their AI systems definitely got a much needed rework compared to the last game and they were more fun to go up against! Don’t let the negativity stop you from experiencing this awesome story!    … Expand

Some reviews I’ve seen have been pathetic. A 0 for Joel dying, a 0 for Ellie being gay and saying it it doesn’t belong in the game ? Pretty strange considering it was made clear within the first game that she was gay. Joel dying in the game made the whole story actually important. It wasn’t a disregard for a beloved character as people claim. Joel died because of his actions within the hospital in the first game and saying that it was pointless people just clearly don’t understand the story. This game shows how bad the fan base for the last of us actually is. This game is phenomenal but because the so called “fans” are annoyed at the tiny little things in the game then give it a 0 rating. How about give reviews properly so the company can improve upon. This game story “isn’t all over the place” as people are saying, it makes sense. There are flashbacks through the game showing interactions between Ellie and Joel in the 4 year gap and at the half way point then switch over to Abby made complete sense, it makes you see the different side to her and why she hunted down Joel. Let talk about the ending. The ending was great and made complete sense l. Ellie obviously realised if she ends up killing Abby then the cycle will just start again. Abby killed Joel for killing her farther for Ellie to kill Abby for killing Joel would make her no better than Abby. Lev, was sat in the boat watching this happen helplessly much like how Ellie watched the Joel death. By Ellie letting Abby go this breaks the vicious cycle and for me I thought it was a brilliant end to a brilliant story. People need to get over the little things in this game that they’re giving 0 ratings for and play the game. Maybe they’ll actually enjoy it and The Last of Us 2 May get the reviews it deserves.… Expand

    Joel's death is necesary to the plot of the game, its something that makes you feel the same as Ellie, the death could be better but his death is represented by the feeling of Abby, if you think Ellie wants the same thing that Abby (revenge).

    The history could be better in so many moments and the characters could be best represented, like Jesse, he was dina ex-boyfriend and the father of the baby and dies in a stupid way, other character like that was Dina, she was so good on the first part of the game but when you discover that shes pregnant she becomes useless but Abby's character makes you hate her so shes a good villian and that makes her the best character of the game, you plays as her and you see other side of Abby, she feels and she is a human not a total b1tch amazing    … Expand

Truthfully, I just can't say I agree with many of the popular critiques of the narrative (except a few plot holes) which is why I am rating it a 9/10. Firstly, the gameplay (including graphics, lighting, level design, and sound design) is amazing; especially that it can run so well on a base PS4. In my opinion, the gameplay alone should discredit most 0/10's. Secondly, the performances are incredible once again; even though some may struggle relating to some new characters, the individual performances are still amazing almost across the board. One scene that stands out for this is at the beginning of the game in the cabin; if you played it you know what I'm referring too. Finally, the narrative itself while having made some very interesting decisions, executes these decisions extremely well in my opinion. This game is not trying to capture the same magic of the first, but instead, create a new storyline which was an extremely risky move that I respect greatly. Most decisions of this game have an answer, it really just depends if the player is willing to be open or not to the story. The ending especially is one that I really confused about how so many hate it, as it truly is one of the redeeming moments of Ellie in a story filled with so much sadness. "Well, she did all of this for nothing"... exactly, revenge never truly fulfills and always amounts to nothing. In my opinion, though, this game says much more than "revenge is bad", but, that is all up for interpretation to the player with its very open-ended conclusion. I have to admit like many people I was upset and angered by the death of Joel, it felt stupid and out of character for him, but then I realised that of course it’s out of character for him, he has been living in Jackson with Ellie and his brother for years now. Both of these people would have changed Joel’s perspective on the world and he would have stopped being so cynical and untrusting. The fact that I was so angered by his death and so shocked by how it went down just shows that naughty dog knew exactly what they were doing and the story just gets better after that, we follow Ellie on a story of revenge, and during that story we see glimpses into her past with Joel and the reasoning for why she wants to do this. However during the story we see that she regrets some of the actions she makes and it’s incredibly to see a protagonist really wonder if what she did was right. Halfway through the game comes the most controversial part, we get to play as the “villain” Abby. And like a lot of people I wasn’t very thrilled about the idea of playing half the game as this character however throughout her story we learn the reason to why she killed Joel and also find out that she is just as good a person as we believe Ellie to be. However the boss fight against Ellie was still very hard to do and I did not want to do it as like many others I love her character. But the side as Abby was very interesting and gave some insight into her character which helped the story a lot. The best part of the game for me was the ending. It showed that Ellie quest for revenge lost her many people in her life and she even realised that Abby was not worth killing, overall it was a very well done story of revenge and how it can be wrong.… Expand

Au final, y'a t-il vraiment des gentils et des méchants ? The Last of Us 2 répond à ces questions: Non, tout dépend du point de vue que l'on adopte. Pour le coup, c'est le jeu avec lequel j'ai eu le plus d'émotion en fait, en jouant, j'ai été énervé, triste, choqué, heureux, déterminé. Je lui donne la note de 8 car évidemment, il y a des défauts. J'ai trouvé certaines phases de l'histoire un peu trop allongé, là uniquement pour combler. La phase de jeu avec Abby était plutôt chiante sauf pour la fin sur l'île des Séraphites. Mais tout ce qui était déjà dans le premier jeu a été amélioré, le gameplay, les persos, la durée de vie. Neil Druckmann nous avait prévenu: le jeu va diviser et des gens vont être déçus et énervés.     The graphics on the is just beautiful. This game is truly a technical marvel. In my opinion, the story is great. It made me cry, it made me mad, but I think this is what the devs were going for and they did an amazing job. Beautiful art can't be perfect, sometimes it's the flaw that makes it beautiful.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I say all the negativity online bit decided I would play through the whole game before making my own decision.
    I struggled for a moment when first switching over to play as Abby due to how well the game had forced me to hate her.
    But as I began to see things from her perspective and accept the message the game was trying to put across I found that it wasn't a bad thing.
    The first Last of Us was amazing and helped by the fact that the villain in Marlene and the fireflies weren't really villains.
    They were trying to save the world but we saw them as Evil due to our perspective and Abby is exactly the same.
    Only we see her story in far more depth, we see her reasons for hunting Joel are the same as Ellies reasons for hunting her.
    We see how everyone in the Last of Us world has these shades of Grey, their is no good and evil just survival.
    On top of all this the gameplay is astounding the stealth is well done and when all hell does break loose it feels like genuine chos where an enemy can come at you from any direction.
    The attention to detail is also top level with every area incredibly well laid out and my personal favourite being Ellie playing the guitar and all the videos now about with her playing classics.
    And finally for me is the characters, Ellie is amazing, so entirely driven by her hate, rage and need for vengeance that by the time she sees the consequences of her actions she has lost everything that mattered to her.
    Dinas role as Ellies anchor and seemingly the one person who might be able to get her out of the endless cycle of vengeance even though she fails.
    And if you let go of the hatred from the first half of the game and let yourself understand Abby she and her friends are equally intriguing characters even if they have a very skewed moral compass but then so does Ellie and so did Joel.
    Overall Last of us part 2 is an incredible game it is horrific, dark, grisly and one emotional gut punch after another and everytime you think fictional characters can't hurt you more this game will twist the knife again and again.
    I understand people being put of by the violence and bleak tone, even if I think they help the overall experience.
    The Lesbian and Trans elements shouldn't be an issue for any one as they have zero negative effect on the game itself and anyone who allowed themselves t be put of by the leaks about this game need to make their own opinion using the actual game rather then using what a few youtubers say as the basis for their opinion.    … Expand

    Graphics are outstanding. As is the game play and music/sound. Story could have been better but it is still pretty good. Don't get what everyone's problem is. Possibly upset that it didn't happen the way they wanted it to. The first game didn't have a happy story either. Had a blast, great characters. Was never going to be as good as the first game.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the immersion of the world. Great game and I like the more realistic ending, rather than idealistic.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
