Their are a few things I liked and others i did not. Heard about other people quitting playthroughs at about the 3 hour mark in this game, as most of you are aware a new character is introduced and happens to kill off a fan favourite from the first. At this point I've not even reached half way through this game so wanted to give it a chance. Anyway the Character in question is Abby and my only criticism of her character is the way her backstory is presented. It should of been introducing her character at the start of the game whilst swapping between her story up until the point Joel kills her dad, and Ellie & Joel's Story after the events of the first. We are forced to see Ellie find out the truth though flashback scenes, although great I would of rather find that out whilst exploring with Ellie & Joel and that would of added further ramifications into this game.

The same applies to Abbys story. I feel like even though they may not of done enough in her backstory i would of felt more for Abby if I understood the relationship she had with her dad and why she did what she did earlier in the game but you don't find this out until you've done Ellie's half of the story, thats 12 Bloody Hours. Come On Naughty Dog. Abbys own story then goes on for 12 hrs before a showdown and although I learn a lot about her charcter 12 hrs solely focusing on her im not only bored im genuinely uninterested in her character and the rest of her communities characters

Whatever Naughty Dog wanted me to feel ive not felt. I do not care that Joel Killed Abby's Dad and im supposed to feel something for this character. I really think if this happened later in the game and you understood what Abby did earlier and why I'd still hate the Character for killing a fan favourite but I'd understand her character more and why she did it. Instead you find out from the start and don't understand why until about 12-14hrs into the game. They Pitch this character as a second playable one, why would I care for her story when the first thing she does is kill a fan favourite.

Another issue happens to be Joel, Lets get thing straight Naughty Dog if the apocalypse was real then everyone knows full well that you wouldn't freely go back to her community without question youd take her back to your camp and question her, find out her intentions, not freely follow to then end up dead. Joel is a smart guy in the first game and it's seems like the guy completely forgot the one rule that he lives by in the first never trust anyone but he chooses to trust Abby because of a storm? Really, I mean Really? Come on Man!

Overall my final thought on the game is that its a great fantastic sequel with tension and the story of Ellie wanting revenge but coming out with nothing, no one is their, she's a broken character at the end and that hurts but it's her vengeance that tears everyone away from her and you feel that. A great overall game and story where you feel all the ramifications of your choices as Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From my point of view the game isn't as bad as every one makes it be. To be honest it is a very good representation of real life, and bare with me until i explain my point. In real life bad things happen for no reason, to good people, to bad people, to people we love and hate. Life does not wait until we are ready to face the difficulties if we will ever be.. we have all lost people (sometimes in seemingly unfair and humiliating ways like Joel who deserved a more heroic death but life didn't provide it for him ) who we loved and we all know how devastating searching for reason is in a world without reason, so i respect a game who manages to make me feel so deeply even a terrible feeling as that of losing someone and feeling hopeless and unjust about it. As for the the decisions the characters make throw the game that some times seemed out of character i believe the help to color the humanity of each person, i prefer a character who has inner conflicts of values and desires and because of that are unpredictable rather than a character who is predictable and already fully established. I believe this game is a (sad) piece of art for a different reason than the 1st one, and for sure it does not deserve a 0 . Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this Expand

I just noticed, that many people read or saw our heard leaks about the story. To make clear, after the first E3 trailer of tlou2 I knew I would buy it and sometimes followed some news about it. But I simply didn't notice any leaks, because I didn't want to be cheated! I mean it's up to you to read or not read the leaks, isn't it? This game is a masterpiece, don't be fooled by the review bombers! This game is not about a happy ending which real life simply doesn't know. Nobody who ever realized him or herself expects a happy end for their life. This game is about real life in a fictional post-apocalyptic world. It never gets any closer to reality than this! Assolutamente, ma a me è piaciuta molto.
Complimenti a voi e grazie, grazie davvero.

I don't want to give anything away, but I think a lot of people are upset about something that happens near the beginning. It is meant to make you angry and set the stage for the rest of the game. It is far from an uplifting story, so I understand why it is so polarizing. The first game was about love and hope, while this game is about hate and loss. There are moments of sadness and parts where you don't like what the main character is doing, but that's all part of it. You will eventually hate characters you love and love characters you hate. It's part of the destructive nature of being blinded by rage. While this sounds bad, it is a story that is told very well. Also the gameplay is a lot of fun.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Greetings to those who passed the game. Finally, we released part 2 of the game that changed the entire gaming industry in 2013, implemented an excellent production and roughly speaking, everything of that kind. What I will say about part 2... These were unforgettable emotions... The game immediately engages and pulls us into this native atmosphere. The work with light/shadow is beautiful, the music accompaniment, my homage to Gustavo is on top, as always. The game's mechanics have become varied and refined. You can crawl and climb into cars, break Windows, throw ropes, and put up ladders. The game has become very diverse, there is no sense of straight linearity. The world is beautiful, and every building you enter makes sense to find something useful in it. But now I'm going to talk about the sickest part of this game. Plot and direction. Yes, I liked the technique of telling the story from different sides (characters). Playing for Ellie, I realized that this is not a 14 - year-old defenseless sweet girl, but a fierce, cruel 19-year-old girl who will not put herself under the barrel. Playing for her was more fun than playing for Abby. Joel's death was in vain in the first hours of the game, it feels like Neil Drakman spat at him. I, like Ellie, have learned that I need to take revenge on this **** despite her story (I didn't like it)! And for what? To let her go? Ellie, like Abby, had lost almost everyone she cared about, and what was it, for nothing? I feel sorry for Joel when he listened to all the **** Ellie said and died from a high-powered woman's stick... Very sad ending, I was crying, but over the failed ending of this story. Unfortunately, I can't say more, or they'll ban me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros:
    - Increadibly good graphics (I don't know any game that comes close to TLOU2 in that regard). Actually I didn't think the PS4 (even the Pro) could handle those graphics with such a stable framerate. Yeah, sure, I'd wish I could play the game on my PC so I can crank up the graphics even more and enjoy a higher framerate, but that's just complaining at a very high level.
    - Extremely good sound design (You can hear so many things going on around you, the sounds are perfectly matching all the movement and environments, enemies, weapons, etc., it's just perfect)
    - The vistual art style is superb and makes the game look extremely realistic and organic. Even though some objects are re-used over the game, it doesn't feel like it. Reminds me of "The Vanishing of Ethan Carther" where almost no object appeared twice in the game.
    - The enemy design really nice and makes enemies (especially the monsters) feel more dangerous.
    - The athmosphere is phenomenal. I would've loved the game even if it was just an exploration game without combat or anything. Just exploring the world was much fun.
    - This game is huge and I believe it took me at least 50% longer than the first part because it as really big areas to explore and to fight through.
    - Movement is on the spot and I'd say 98% of moves look astonishingly realistic and organic and give a real sense for the weight of the character. It didn't feel like you were shoving around a weightless "thing" but a real person with weight and a center of gravity that's changing depending on how the player controls the character.
    - The facial expressions of the characters are over the top well done. I loved them so much. They are the best I've seen so far in a game and they are even better than most movies' with real actors.
    - Overall gameplay didn't change too much so that anyone who played the first game should feel familiar with this one immediately. It's mostly stealth and action, split by countless ingame cutscenes (was there a pre-rendered cutscene anyway? I'm actually not sure and when the Intro was over I first didn't realize it was ingame and I wondered why nothing happened :D)
    - The Listen Mode is improved in a way that it feels more realistic. You can't "see" as clearly as in the first game anymore (even though you can level that skill up).
    - The amount of options (especially for people with bad hearing or bad eyes) is suprising and satisfying. You can adjust so many options so that you can make it your very own experience and you are able to make the game even easier or harder with that.

Nonetheless there are some Cons which I want to name:
    - The decision to kill Joel at all a punch in the face. Sure, it helps developing hatred for his killer and thus feeling what Ellie feels. But, man, this was a hard punch and I wish the Devs hadn't done that because they destroyed all of the relationship that Ellie and Joel built up in the first game. Yes, I know, since Joel saved her from death their relationship was a bit frozen but wouldn't it have made for a wonderfui story if the two would reconcile and he would FINALLY admit to her his father feelings for her? Instead he had to die (felt very rushed and extremely unecessary) and all of what the first game built up was ... gone. Poof. Like it never happened. That's not a very good storyline in my eyes but rather the failed try to make the player feel angry.
    - The boss fights were way too hard (even on lowest difficulty). They felt like 5 times harder than usual gameplay.
    - The game makes you feel stupid. Let me explain: There are many many situations where you exactly know that after the next squeeze-through/door/drop to a lower level either a boss fight or at least new hordes of enemies await you. You 100% know it but the game leaves you no choice in going around or hiding. It forces you into the fight or at least into being hit from your left and overwhelmed by some enemy. I consider this as cheap as a trick as jump scares in movies. Don't make the player KNOW what's coming and then make exactly this happen but instead let it happen when the player least expects it. Make the game unpredictable. Unfortunately the game is very predictable when it comes to enemy encounters.
    - The AI of the enemies is better than in the first game in my opinion but especially human enemies are more or less cannon fodder. The stalker though was an extremely nice enemy to fight and those encounters were the only ones where I really felt adrenaline. Most other encounters are more like planning a trip. Make the AI more unpredictable.
    - This game has way too many situations where you need to force push doors open because they are blocked by a shelf or something. Most times there were so many ways around those doors but you were forced to use this single way and no other.

The Last of Us Part II is poignant, uncomfortable and oh so real. It tells a truth - Actions have consequences and violence only begets more violence. It isn’t an escapist’s dream, but a heart breaking look at humanity, hate and ultimately, forgiveness. Tackling themes of selfishness, revenge, forgiveness, gender fluidity, sexuality and xenophobia, it is an absolute masterpiece.
A landmark for story telling in any form of cinema, character development is just, wow. I have never cared as much for a fictional character as I have for Joel, never felt so conflicted about a protagonist’s decisions and never ever have I empathised so much with an ‘antagonist’.
Much like the human experience, nothing about it is easy.
In fact I believe it to have set a new precedent for NPC difficulty and AI.
the game is gorgeous and lovingly filled with treasures from past beloved naughty dog games. I enjoyed every single moment of my 24 hour play through. This game shines through its contrast and parallels. Light and dark, lush green and concrete, guttural violence and gorgeous vistas, somber moments and unencumbered elation. All the while highlighting, the grey of it all. Constantly reminding us that we aren’t all that different, that we share pain and loss as the human race. Cannot speak more highly of the game. Anybody who’s thinking twice before getting TLOU2, my advice would be - get it, and you’ll never forget it.

No final, The Last Of Us Part 2 é uma obra incrível.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first game was my favorite game of all time. When the trailers came out it was so obvious what this game was going to be about. There were articles and YouTube videos talking about what we all thought it was going to be about. Now suddenly we're acting like we're all surprised? the first game is a 10 for me and this one can't reach that point because I do have some issues with it. But it has nothing to do with most complaints people have. the leaks led me to believe that this is going to be left-wing politics shoved down my throat and that's not the case. So now we want to pretend it has nothing to do with the LGBT controversies, and we all want to claim we're just mad that you have to play as Abby. movies and stories follow antagonist side of the story all the time this is nothing new in story telling. if you genuinely loved the first game, and don't care that there's some LGBT characters in it, by the way Abby is never implied to be trans, try the game you'll likely like it. Now I know people are going to claim I'm just calling people bigots if they don't like this, that's not the case at all. I am actually a right-leaning conservative person in most people's eyes. I was fully expected to be pissed off at a bunch of left-wing politics being shoved down my throat in this game, then it never came and I was wondering what all the outrage was about because while I didn't read the spoilers that's what all the memes were bashing it for. I saw one person say he refused to play the game because Abby was trans (even though the games never implied that l, after I beat the game my friend asked me if they really put tr@nny porn in it. Clearly that is one of the biggest issues a lot of people have, so many of the comments seem to imply having gay lesbian or trans characters is their biggest issue. of course I am not claiming that's everyone though.

If you can't handle that bad things can happen to characters you love and stories then you likely won't like this. As I said, the first game is my favorite game of all time. I can't accept that a character I love dying means it's disrespect to the character or disrespect to me as a fan, that is incredibly simple-minded. and going back to the first trailers, this is exactly what everyone was predicting the game was going to be about so it's ironic that we're acting like that's the part that pisses off so much. I've also seen so many people say it would have been better if you got to get your revenge at the end. That completely defeats the point of the game. If that's the case it would be like Ellie becomes the villain and completes her path to the dark side. that would mean Abby and lev become the protagonist and Ellie becomes a villain. Even Abby spared Ellie's life in the theater. it would have made the story worse if Ellie actually kills Abby at the end but people seem to be too simple-minded and think the only logical story conclusion would be Abby being murdered Ellie. the story was not what I was expecting and obviously controversial but I think the more and more I contemplated the more I actually like how the story comes full circle similarly to how the first game came full circle. And people forget that Joel was a murderous **** and condemned humanity to no cure by killing the doctors. I hope for a part 3.

I want to preface this review by disclosing that I don't understand when people say this game is "meant to be not enjoyable" and/or pointless as a game. Yes, it has a considerably darker and grimmer tone and the characters are put through an emotional ringer, butI want to preface this review by disclosing that I don't understand when people say this game is "meant to be not enjoyable" and/or pointless as a game. This is not a joyless and fully uncomfortable experience that reviews on both sides of the rating spectrum have described it as. Yes, it has a considerably darker and grimmer tone and the characters are put through an emotional ringer, but what makes a story enjoyable is not necessarily likability and audience comfort, but a compelling narrative that is investing and thoughtful. A film like Logan (which many fans have compared to the first game), is also equally harrowing and heartbreaking but I find it very difficult to say the best Wolverine film is somehow not enjoyable or pointless to watch because it'll make the viewer feel sad. Both Logan and The Last of Us were praised for not only being exciting but also presenting a darker tone that challenged their audiences to see the action genre with more thought-provoking themes on human nature instead of simply violence or triumph over opposition. So it surprises me that The Last of Us Part II has been hated for continuing these same strengths but with greater stride.

The Last of Us Part II is expertly written and performed, challenges the characters in new ways, and makes the story world feel even bigger and more complex than before. It is not a complete departure from the first game, as impactful decisions made in the first game lead effortlessly into greater consequences in the sequel. It even includes some standout flashback sequences that beautifully stitch the two games together. The biggest controversy surrounding this game is its unconventional choice of dual protagonists. People have been very polarized by the choices made here, but I feel this decision only highlights what makes this game so thoughtfully constructed. This franchise has never been a direct explanation of right from wrong. Or about characters getting what they want or deserve. It depicts its characters with all the messiness and flaws that come with being human. The way these new storylines converge is so subtle yet powerful, giving extra weight to an already engrossing narrative. Characters initially seen as enemies or an objective are suddenly well-rounded characters with their own desires. A story that was jumpstarted by hate and revenge grows into the desire to learn empathy and forgiveness. Themes that are not too foreign for this franchise to explore, given that Abby and Lev's story is a clear and touching parallel to Joel and Ellie's in the first game. This is one of the few narratives I've experienced that felt integral to the medium of videogames, because a movie or tv show could not have so immersively let me live through both characters in such a way.

And speaking of the game's mechanics, The Last of Us Part II is a powerhouse of gameplay and graphics. Instead of repeating the same grey color palettes seen in every post-apocalypse, the game dives into so many different eye-popping colors per location. Undoubtedly worthy of its photo-mode inclusion. The motion capture performances are as phenomenal and impressive as something you would see in a high-budget movie. The combat is gripping, with countless ways to approach each scenario, spacially and by play-style. Exploration feels deeper and more rewarding; not starved for resources, but not populated enough to make you feel invincible. In the first game, I had fun with the gunplay but was mainly excited to get to the next cutscene. Here, they each became highlights of their own regard.

I really do think that as time passes and people forget about the leaks and controversy surrounding it, more and more people will open up to this game or discover it for themselves. It's unfortunately just not for everyone, but I'm glad its creators have stood by it and are rightfully proud of their work. Their efforts were not lost by me, and I'll be thinking about this game for a very long time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have NEVER written a review for any game before and I definitely pride myself in being a gamer. I played The Last of Us part 1, which I understand why people may hold part 2 to a higher standard.

However. The last of us 2 was a masterpiece. I laughed, I cried, I felt anger, but more importantly the story was fascinating to watch. I'm not sure why people are hopping on the same train and critiszing the game but in my opinion it's clear to see it's because of the main female lead or #LGBTQ+ incorporation. Which either way doesn't take away form the fantastic game that it is. WOW. I was completely mind blown.

There were times my mouth hit the floor, times I cried with Ellie, but I believe even the ending was perfect. It may not have been the ending many have wanted, but I felt that the story GRANTED that ending. Seeing Abby depleted on the cross--wow. That was a speechless moment. I hope you give the real fans a sequel. Because as a fan of RPG's and post-apocalyptic games like Resident Evil (I've played every one) I have to say that The Last of Us pretty much did a better post-apocalyptic game than they did!!!

Fantastic layered story that will repeatedly leave you shocked and guessing until the end (provided you haven’t had the game ruined for you by people trying to spoil it for others). This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this is a truly unique sequel, great standalone game, and an amazing franchise. Depending on whether there's a 3rd game and how good it is I would consider it a masterpiece overall.

Part II setup a rich and complex story, a well-crafted environment and world, and an action-packed game that I've never seen done with such creativity in a video game.
To address some of the bad critics that I saw :
    1) Even though Joel is clearly a kind person overall and the hero of the first story, his death was to be expected because he killed good people. But he did it only because Ellie was going to be murdered without asking for both her and his consent, because he could not watch a second daughter figure die and because the armed groups like the Fireflies are far from trustworthy.
    2) Abby is also a good person overall but in this lawless time, justice is done out of personal revenge instead of an independent jury. Because of her father's death and loss of the dream of a cure for Cordyceps, she (and to a lesser degree her friends too) was blinded with hatred and revenge.
    3) The game doesn't present Abby enough early on to let the player identify with her because the goal is for the player to fully identify with Ellie's revenge feelings at the moment her friend gets tortured to death. This desire for revenge is the key to the story
    4) Abby and her friends may not appear very likable but the reason the story follows them is to show that they are not bloodthirsty monsters, on the contrary, they are far more empathetic than the rest of the armed groups like the WLF or the Seraphites.
    5) When Abby and Ellie fight, they are both going down the wrong path which is why the favorite one, Ellie is in the position of the "bad guy". And Abby is about to take another step in the right direction by sparing their lives.
    6) We finally get a moment of peace and hope at the farm, we then experience Ellie leaving her lover Dina to finish the revenge. At this point, Ellie hasn't seen Abby's life as the player has, but she has been scarred by previous experiences of mistrust, revenge, and violence across both stories. Even though she killed all Abby's friends she might not know what they represented to her and she still feels that Abby came out on top, unpunished, and threatening. And she makes the wrong decision to leave and chase her revenge again, which will cost her everything.
    7) When Ellie finally beats Abby in the water as she strangles her, she finally has a grip on what she wanted more than anything. Luckily for her, Abby went through torture and redemption, she is now weakened and loses the fight. At this point, Ellie takes control and remembers that Joel wouldn't want her to live for revenge especially since Abby had shown a better moral path previously.

My interpretation is that there are two diseases that plague the world of TLOU, the infected humans attacking humans and this has pushed society to hunt each other where humans constantly fear and even kill each other. Ellie represented the biological cure in Part I and at the end of Part II, she can represent the emotional cure.

If this sequel was just a simple revenge story of Ellie killing someone who took something from her, the reviews would be on average a lot higher, but the story would be a lot shallower. I would encourage anyone who has had a negative experience to come back to this game after they've had a break and replay the story, this time without the weight of expectation. Understanding the point of the game is the key to enjoying it (much like any movie that requires a 2nd viewing to fully 'get it)'. My only criticism of the game is that the sequel fails to bring much in the way of new gameplay mechanics eg. still using bottles and bricks for sound diversion, moving dumpsters etc. I think as a new character(s) it would have been welcomed to have some new skills. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely loved the game it’s a ground breaking game in terms of realism and realistic believable characters . The acting in this game and mocap is incredible . This game deeply disturbed me at times it was so real . As for the story it’s a great story. It sucks joel dies truely it does but it didn’t ruin the game the journey is incredible and one hell of an experience I feel like I actually experienced this journey . The only thing I would change is ya it be nice if it was another joel and Ellie adventure but last of us 2 is proof you can kill off a main character and the game is still just as amazing game reminds me a lot of the walking dead how no character is safe not even the main character . It gives a sense of realism. It’s very heart breaking and may piss people off but it most def works . And the game is far from being a bad game it May be a darker theme but it works the games incredible . I wish playing as Abby wasn’t so long I feel like she over stayed her welcome . The only good side is you get to see Abby isn’t 100% the worst person yeah she’s def a **** person but she betrayed her own people just to save a kid which is kind of what joel did when he saved Ellie. Last of us 2 is also proof that you can get a attached to a complete different duo of characters not just joel and Ellie. So I hope they make a last of us 3 . The ending however people hate the fact Ellie didn’t kill Abby but in all fairness she tried her ass off to do so the first time and the second time . I was kind of upset that Ellie still wanted to kill Abby even after finding her half dead malnourished on a beach it’s like you still wanna kill her after seeing her like this you are obsessed this isn’t healthy just let it go . Ellie was so obsessed with her quest of revenge that she was willing to ruin everything around her . And the reason she gave up on killing Abby after one hell of a brutal violent battle is because she realized it was kind of like she was fighting her self for never forgiving joel she saw the good in Abby the fact that she was also helping a child survive and escape . It Reminded Ellie of her and joel and when joel flashed into her head which caused her to break down and cry and let Abby go . It was like that was a sign of hey Ellie just let her go killing her won’t bring me back and if you kill her you will just be like her no remorse no mercy. Through out the game you realize killing people had taken its mental toll on you where as for Abby she didn’t care . Ellie realized she was a good person ya she went down a dark path to find that out but she eventually realized I’m better then this all this has done is cause you to suffer and everyone around you , you are suffering mentally you are unhappy just let go it’s ok. Let her go move on and have a normal life . People tend not to like this because all they feel is hate for Abby trust me I hated Abby but she was on a quest for revenge like Ellie where she succeeded Ellie didn’t because ellie realized she would be a better person if she just let go she let go of joel she forgave her self for never forgiving joel which are her up inside and she forgave Abby . Moral of the story revenge never solves anything you become obsessed and it hurts you and everyone around you and if you don’t break that cycle someone else will then come after to kill you. Ellie did the right thing by ending the cycle. But I think it also would have been the right thing to kill Abby as well lol I would have liked either endings . This ending was just. Taking the high road and there is nothing wrong with that . 8/10 because you killed joel and because you play as Abby for to long . Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, here it goes. First the good points:
    - Memories chapters. Specially the one in the museum, my favourite moment of the game by far.
    - Music: Again, Gustavo Santaolalla and hiw crew made an amazing job. And if you ever played, have or simply likes guitars, you will enjoy each moment in which they play them.
    - Graphics: For me, along RDR2 and Uncharted 4, this game has probably the best graphics I've seen in PS4. The lights, the atmosphere, practically everything in Seattle...I have more a dozen of captures.
-Gameplay: Okay, this is a tough one. I know that there's a lot of people who didn't like how the stealth works, many that got annoyed by the cranky shooting system and that's not realistic, in a game where everything feels VERY raw and real, how the IA patrols. 'Bout the first two I will say just one thing: Didn't you play the first game? Stealth got actually much tougher, the clickers now can detect you even if you're not moving on the ground. And while in the first game I just cleared out every room and building from enemies, in here, specially in the last chapters, I went through huge areas just killing two or three guys as much so I wouldn't engage a fight that would consume everything I've. No complains about the guns: Just put pills into the right skill tree and your parts in the stability or precision stuff. Will get much, much better...Oh, and the skill to hold your breath.
Just to finish with the Gameplay: Melee combat was brutal, dogs are actually a big threat, not by themselves, but..well if you play, you probably noticed by now. The only "bad" points I'll give to gameplay goes directly as a comparison to the previous game. I miss the nail bomb and the Molotov's Cocktail got nerfed. They're much weak. Which I understand, because in TLOU were awesome, but there's a lack of consistence that doesn't make too much sense to me.
Stuff I would've wanted in TLOU Part II: Having both holsters from the begining. Didn't make sense at all to don't have them, for both characters. One lives in a place where for sure can make them for her, and the other has military supplies.
Having the bow from the beginning. Having to go such a big part of the game without the bow is annoying and stupid.
A gun with silencer: Dude, when I got it finally in Santa Barbara I was so happy. For people who doesn't know, guns with silencers use different ammunition: subsonic one. It's heavier and, despite what games often shows, has more punch that regular ammo. It makes a lot of sense to have this weapons if you're fighting creatures with natural armor and that can hear a nail falling from a table. Maybe not Ellie, but Abby definitely should have had one of these.
    Bad thing(s):
It can be summarize in one word: Abby. After +30 hours -as you probably guessed I stealth a lot so my playthrough consumed a lot of hours- chasing her, everywhere, after all she has done to almost every character we liked from the first game and the friends that we've made in the second, not finishing the job is disappointing. I get it Naught Dog. It's a grey ending where Ellie let's her go to end the violence cycle, however, I DO NOT like the feeling that they forced the player a story in which, her, the clear antagonist, has a redemption story!
For gods sake no, hell no. As Stannis Baratheon said in Clash of Swords: “A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good. Each should have its own reward.” I'm not saying she didn't deserve her own revenge, but saying that if you get into revenge, you must face consequences. And she did not. The same goes for his "friends".
She chased Joel for years. She forced her "friends" to go with her and to torture Joel. And then just because she's, at last, caring about someone, I'm suppoused to care about her? No, I do not. I'm sorry for Lev, because from the Abby's chapters is by far the best characcter, but she deserved to die. This is, in the end, a fictional story and is setted in a raw place. She should've died or at least, we should have get the choice to spare her, or not.
In this regard, even if I understand why Naughty Dog wanted us to play as she and for me, this was quite original, it was disgusting actually to play as her. She killed our Joel. As I've read from some people, it would've made more sense to have her chapters before Jackson events. You're already making time shifts/jumps, why not doing this one? I do not see it that difficult and by this, you actually empathize with her and try to see it from both point of view everything that happened...But not like this.
Here goes a DLC suggestion A New Game + + in which you don't play as Abby and, of course and overall, that adds the choice of killing Abby at the end.
Amazing game, but the story wasn't guided that well...And it's such a same.

I will play it again, but it will take some time before I do it..

PS: A second DLC with more Ellie and Joel interaction would also be superb, but I'm aware that's fanservice.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found the latest addition to the last of us games very good, I managed to play the game without knowing the spoilers that were leaked. The game is just graphically stunning and some the new and little added mechanics like the prone and melee moves to be a great addition, the game is long and can sometimes become tiering If your like me and try explore every corner. The story although controversial as I’ve seen is actually quite gripping and made me want to keep playing to see how it all unfolds and what will happen to our beloved Ellie and even with the loss of Joel even though some see as cheap I took it as a way to show they are not afraid to kill even the most beloved characters, with that it even sometimes left me worrying if this could be the end of Ellie too that just made the game more intense and interesting. One my only big issues was when it moved to the Abby section, I did find it nice to actually see the two sides of the story and even with the hate I felt towards Abby for what she did to Joel it makes some the characters like Manny and Owen even Abby as likeable people dealing with what the messed up world has dealt them I mean you can’t be mad at a women who set on killing the man that took her farther away when your supporting Ellie set to kill the women who took the man who was like a farther figure away. It’s a shame the swap of the story happened right at a intense stand off between both these women tho as it kinda left you frustrated wanting to get back straight to the stand off to see what happens. My overall view of this game is that it is a great game and keeps to the Gritty, gory and cruel environment the first game introduced us. I be looking forward to any more games or even spin off games set in the hellish and infected universe and think the teams have worked hard and should be pleased with what they have helped create. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would give it the game a 9,5/10; but I can't so it's a 10/10. This 0,5 that I missed is a 0,5 that reflects a whole game that doesn't exist, but it should. TLOU II is actually an excellent TLOU III.

But nonetheless I have no words to describe TLOU II, it's a masterpiece, graphics, gameplay, story, everything is so far from the games we have, only GoW comes close to what TLOU II is, we are on the limit of this generation, we'll maybe find a better game only in the next gen, maybe. This game made me feel nausea from Joel's death until the end, the only thing I felt after I finished was pure joy and relief. It's sad people aren't ready for games like this, this is an experience, not only a game, probably they weren't frustrated when they were children, saying it's just "SJW" game or pure ideology means you know nothing about anything, neither ideology nor society, everything is political, LGBT+ people exist, and they can be protagonists, they don't fit only in the stereotype. Double check your prejudice and your pride, learn about 21st Century society.

Fair warning, I wanted to hate this game, I didn't think it should have existed as the end of the first was perfect and poignant, however after experiencing this game without being spoiled, without knowing what would come next, I feel this game justified its existence, added to the weight of the ending of the first but showing that Joel's decision affected more than just him and Ellie. The game is a rollercoaster of emotions, that sets the player off on a path of hatred, this continued for me until about an hour into Abbys part. The craftsmanship of the writers allowed me to understand Abby through this section, though I still hated her for what she did to Joel. I i think the ending also made sense as if I was EllieIi I would want closure and for the nightmares yo stop, I think seeing Abby in the state she was in though gave the feeling that she suffered enough for what she did and killing her would not have solved Ellies issues but being able to finally move on with closure did help her move past Abby. Not only did this game live up to the first, I feel it surpassed it as well. Expand

Gameplay - Part 2 expands on the gameplay of its predecessor with new weponds, new craftable items and many in game mechanics to have other games shaking at their knees (such as the ropes). The way the player is brought into the stressful environment is amazing with the soundtrack and many features to make players feel on the edge of their seats. Many of the new features expand on the world and make environments more interesting with puzzles and different ways to get to certain areas. Story - I know everyone’s problem is with the story. Personally I enjoyed the story and it brought out the emotions in me that the developers wanted us to feel. We have to mention the actors’ performances (especially Ashley Johnson’s) before anything. The cast were absolutely astounding and so talented. The story requires a lot of thinking about which I like but it may not be for everyone. I feel as though some people are drawn towards games to cheer themselves up greatly and I must warn you the Part 2 may not do this. Despite having happy moments in the game it is dark, depressing and at most distressing. I would say it’s the abstract art to the art world rather than a form of realism art with the answers right in front of you. My one criticism is the pacing in this game. It seems as though half way through the game it becomes a bit of a drag. Maybe because you enter an extremely stressful situation to a stripped back and calm one which essentially leaves the player on a cliff hanger for about 10 hours. I feel like this game falls short with the run time and it could have been made a little shorter. However, I can see why the writers did this. The ending has good meaning and symbolism and is not to be looked over as there are no straight laced answers to this game much like the last. Overall I’ve given the game 8/10 I wish I could give it a 10/10 just like I gave the last one but some bits fall short for me. Other than that I feel like this game is a masterpiece and a step in a great direction for the gaming industry. The question is now is wether that ballsy decision to go in this direction pays off for naughty dog which it looks like it is due to the sales! I really recommend giving this game a try. Playing it yourself is an experience on its own. Watching it or reading plot lines do not add up to playing the game. Expand

And to finish this review I'd like to say that story wise it could've gone better. We all know Halley and Neil's potentials (TLOU1 and Westworld speaks for themselves), and at the end we feel that our journey through TLOU2 didn't worth the long wait, that is missing something to really achieve the "Perfect Game" status with 100 score or near that.

Story gave us the closure we needed from the first, and kept myself hooked on character development from start to finish. Yes it was heartbreaking what happened to Joel at the start, but going back and seeing flashbacks of him and Ellie together, moving from just like they were in TLOU part 1 to seeing the rift open between them was brilliantly done. Some really good environmental puzzles, and the stalkers provide a nice amount of anxiety. Abby was a really interesting character to play, and it was great to see the build up that lead her to hunting down Joel. Expand

I have never seen movie or played the game that would stay in my mind for such long time. I feel the same way about this game and as for me it is also a great game, I enjoyed gameplay as it was realy pleasing and I enojyed the plot because i like when i have mixed feelings about ending of game and TLOU2 left me with that kind of feelings but I also get why people hate it for that reason. It is realy confusing and unsatisfying, as for me the story wasn't told badly but again I get why people say that. I think that most peolpe hated the same thing as I did. The part when you play as Abby is so fu****. I begged god to make it stop, I didn't enjoy it because I hated that character for obvious reason but after all I think it was necessary to put in the story BUT not in the game. If it was for me to decide what to do with it, I would say to cut it off and make it into DLC. I think that only then peolpe would rate the game on 8 and DLC on 5. I don't agree with people rating the game at level of 3 as it's too low but I agree with rating of 5-7 because I get why it is mediocare. As for me it is great game and I am so happy that I finally got to play it and I still hope that we will see the last of us part 3 as the next naughty dog game. Expand

I have an unpopular opinion - The ending of the TLOU1 is the saving grace of the entire original game.
i did not love replaying the game recently and i had to drag myself through it. However the final moments in the original left me with enough ambiguity and gray morality to leave me thinking of it for days after.
To me, i knew that Joel had done an objectively wrong, yet understandably human thing.
This provided a platform for debate for me and my friend as we had our own opinions on Joel's actions.
This leads me to the second game - The story hones in on this moment, exploring the fallout of these actions.
To me, (as someone who avoided the leaks) i still knew or at least suspected what had caused the inciting event for this game.
The fact that the entire story revolves around the choices Joel had made was an incredibly respectful way to treat the character- at least to me.
You spend time with Joel across the story in various ways - flashbacks gameplay sequences filling you in on the four year jump between the original and Part 2.
Meanwhile, you follow two separate & intertwined stories with differing perspectives in the present day - one belonging to Ellie and the other focusing on a new character to TLOU Part II.

I wont wax eloquent about the story.
Simply put, i loved it more than the original.
It managed to stir emotion in me that games rarely achieve.
It wont be for everyone - not everyone has the stomach for it nor will they like some of the risks taken by the story.
Much like the original, the overarching story is incredibly basic, filled with cliches and tropes galore.
TLOU has never been about this. It has always been about character moments.

This is where Part II knocks it out of the park.

Gameplay - i wont go into it too much here because i don't feel like this is being unfairly railed on the internet, but suffice to say, as someone who hated the gameplay of the original this game is so much better to the point i actually enjoy the moment to moment. still lots of scavenging but interspersed with frequent (newly improved and dynamic) combat and dialogue,

I would give this game an 8 or 9 out of 10, however i can see a million trash reviews with a 0 score, (which this game definitely is not, regardless of how butt-hurt you are about the story) so i'm giving it a 10 to try balance the scale a bit.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know I am not siding with a good majority of the fan base, but I thought the game was excellent. I have been waiting 7 long years for this game. I specifically avoided everything about the game. Even the leaks. The way the game throws you a curveball in the prologue is jarring if you are a fan but that doesn’t make it the wrong direction. No game is perfect as the dev team at Naughty Dog know. I don’t think they took this story lightly. I would even put money to the fact that they know the characters and their stories better than we do, and love them. It’s their life’s work. I don’t like certain things in this story for the same reasons people are complaining about. I do however respect what they did with this game and the balls it took knowing it would anger some keyboard cowboys The story although meant for entertainment is not always meant for enjoyment in the normal sense of the meaning. I found myself struggling at times with the weight of the violence and the story and it starts early on. Spoilers Ahead. When you first see Abby and Owen you don’t know what you are seeing until you see it. Joel will be missed as a anti hero of sorts. We want to love the story of Joel getting a second chance. We want to be happy he and Ellie are making it in Jackson. Did we forget how we got here. Joel killed a bunch of people to save a girl he thought of as a daughter. Some people didn’t forget what the smuggler did and make that point in a violent way. This sets scene for the dark story that follows. You aren’t meant to play this game with a smile on your face. You’re meant to regret everything Ellie and Abby are doing. Blind rage for revenge fuels them. There is not a happy ending here. No one is innocent. The characters flaws are mirrored in each other. The game play is on par with its predecessor and rummaging through drawers and buildings can still be annoying. The enemies are more of the human nature in this episode of the game yes they introduce a few new types of infected Shamblers and Stalkers but, you find yourself in the middle of a war between two groups who both think they are right but are probably wrong. Another group keeps humans a slaves labor but Needless to say you end fighting more humans than infected. The environments are beautiful even in the dilapidated places. The shadows the lighting all play a part in this story. In the end the game is a beautifully built disaster of humanity when there is nothing to keep the moral compass pointed north. It repeatedly begs you to ask yourself when is enough enough. When you get to the end you will feel drained emotionally yet hopeful that something good will come out of it all. Expand

Not to criticise too much as with what he gave us was still a great game. The Last of Us Part 1 was a better story with a closer connection to characters and emotion. The Last of Us Part 2 was missing some key things in the story, which in my opinion was the misleading advertising. Shouldn’t have been done. But I still recommend the game 100%, long and intense, much more scary and action filled, making my skin shiver in excitement for what is to come of the future of the franchise. Still my favourite franchise. Recommend to play! Expand

When I fininhed de first one, immediately I started to think what was about to happen, if everything would stay ok, was open, but I realized that this was the best way to end... And to be sincere, I never wanted a second game. When I had The Last of Us Part 2 in my hands, And started the menus, I had fear of what was coming, this never happened before, so I immediatelly understand why Part 2. Playing it, I was aware that something would happen with Joel in the beginning, but not certain about his death, and then, he is killed, so easy... I felt impotent, so do Ellie, and there I got what was about, and that it means I was playing a game that try to be better than your first one in all the ways, and that is inside the game history too, we need to be the better of ourselves everyday, and the thing is, we can be better noticing who we are everyday, who we were. The game is better than your first one at everything, and reinforce the idea of the first one, in a way that you cant ran off... The idea of that in real life there are no hero, and we are people, and the characters there are meant to be people, thing that we rarely see in blockbusters of other medias.
Like I said, Joel dies easily, but when I try to put my self in his place, things should most likely go worse... That time, there was no lucky, he could say a false name, but maybe they did before, but with years of travelers, and everything well, maybe that was the fisrt time on the spur of the moment, they just did what they did... This could happen in the reality, and in other situations always happens.

Gameplay - On the harder difficult I could ran well, because the mechanics runs so good that I could handle easily with the enemies, mainly with the stealth.

Graphics - I cant believe that they did it again, like the firt one, we had the game in the generation finals, and the games somteimes looks likes the new generations trailers we had, we could easyly show to someone and tells it is from PS5

History - I had good moments, and very hard moments with this game, some people must confuse it, frustrating with it doesn't mean its not good, at least with me, they achieved what I think they wanted, I could hate and not hate anymore, and I could dislike someone I love, felt the losses, didnt have time to cry because I was in shock most of time... Thing could have been different, but they wasnt, as do life goes, and as do Joel quotes.

I hope we have more audacity that way in industry, because when a thing is meant to be good as art, the artists are trying to be the better of themselves, and sometimes art tries to mirror the reality, and sometimes people dislike it and doesnt know, they are disliking reality.

I waited until finishing the game to read what the user scores and what Im seeing a lot is players who didn't like the story because is not what they wanted for the characters.

In the end I think that, same as movies, we need to remember that this game we are just along for the ride that Naughty Dog team wanted to tell.

For example,as many, I started hating Abby but by the end I was rooting for her and make me feel unsured whose side I wanted to win.

In short,I would recommend everyone to play it ,the experience is well worth it

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
