Mutig, Innovativ und Andersartig. Ein Beweis dafür, dass die Spielewelt noch nicht in der eintönigen, risikofremden und zuletzt sehr enttäuschenden Filmwelt angelangt ist.

The Last Of Us 2 ist ein perfektes Spiel, jedoch nicht das Beste.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 wasn’t the game everyone wanted, but to me it pushed boundaries by evoking so many hard to swallow aspects of The Last Of Us world. It’s a masterpiece.

I loved how this story was constantly changing my perspective on things. It went from “what is going on with you Ellie? Give Joel a break” to “go **** them up Ellie” to “I really don’t want either of these characters to die”. By the end, I was struggling to mash the square button to kill Abby, wincing as the animations are playing out. Some parts were hard to watch, but that was the point.

The level design was outstanding. The attention to detail in each environment was amazing and the set pieces were varied and interesting. The visuals were top notch and the animations were next level. All the intricate facial expressions to the little hand movements, again the attention to detail was insane. Can't wait to see how it runs on the PS5.

Now Im off to play it again.

If you want to play as Joel, go back and play the original Last of Us. It sucks that he died in this one but that is what drives the story. The story is complex and takes more to understand than just what is on the surface. For those complaining about it, stop and use your brain and maybe you will understand. If you play this game wanting just another TLOU with Joel and Ellie doing the exact same you're going to be disappointed. Neil Druckmann said 5 years ago that he would not do another game unless there was a different story to tell, and this is a different story.

I loved the game it was worth the wait of 7 years I give it a 9/10 I do not give it 10 out of 10 cause I did not like to play as Abby but I get why they did that to further enriched the story and to Show you the point of view of the two characters. For the ending in which she did not kill her was perfect, cause once you see both their point of view and that the two have already suffered enough and the two got a second chance to have a family and moved on i think that was perfect I would have liked to know in the end if dina takes her back or not but overall I give this 9/10 and the first 10/10 cause the first is better but they made a sequel that is worth it and continues with the good story that they already had in the first Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not at all surprised to see the ridiculous and unwarranted backlash The Last of Us Part II has received after a very long and unsustainable hype campaign. For some inexplicable reason, when it comes to evaluating story, or a video game, many unapologetically hold the unreasonable belief that their petty expectations are somehow gospel - every whim must be satisfied, every desire fulfilled. In fact, these petulant masses have grown so demanding and vociferously critical of change that genuinely valid criticism of the game has been almost completely eclipsed by an embarrassing number of immature/undeveloped/sexist/homophobic/transphobic remarks and sentiments. In this regard they begin to resemble the single-minded and intolerant Seraphites of the actual game who are themselves, morally backwards and terrified of change. They're also very fun to shoot at.

Ultimately, The Last of Us Part II is not the crowdpleasing sequel certain "fans" expected it to be and for that it has been undeservedly jeered at and spat upon by legions of deluded and entitled people, spouting trolling comments on Twitch streams and Youtube reviews. What none of these people take into account, however, is that (from both a gameplay and storytelling perspective) TLOU2 succeeds in almost every way at delivering a fresh and engrossing survival horror video game about revenge and forgiveness. Above all, the game is committed to taking the player firmly out of their comfort zone (something any good survival horror game should always strive to do); indeed, nothing in this game feels safe, not even (ingenuously) the weapons upgrade menu. A running theme in TLOU2 is the cruel, but absolutely necessary, endangering of what we (and Ellie) take for granted - be it an upgrade menu, the morality of our in-game actions, or Joel Miller himself. As is clear to anyone paying attention, many scathing reviews of this game seem invariably and inescapably concentrated on a particularly traumatising and brutal event in the story's opening hours and it is not altogether impossible to see why. For a considerable period of playtime, my rage and Ellie's rage were one, I was genuinely consumed with hatred (the kind that motivates you to commit virtual suicide over and over again when you are suddenly and unexpectedly forced to play as a character you have grown to despise for what, at first, seems like an inconceivable and inappropriate length of time). But the jarring unpleasantness of Abby's questline is part of the experience; it's not supposed to win the player over at the very beginning. Like any conflict, a more nuanced and balanced understanding of the opposing positions takes time to develop - it takes hours and hours of reflection and contemplation (something Ellie herself achieves at a slower rate than the actual player). Over time, a general disconnect is imposed between us and Ellie - after seeing Abby's capacity for committing selfless deeds and protecting the innocent, we can no longer hold onto that rage which infected us so violently at the beginning of the game. This, of course, does not excuse Abby's actions, but the whole ordeal poses a very pertinent dilemma to the player. Both Ellie and Abby (not to mention Joel) are undoubtedly guilty of having done terrible things but is it not impossible for someone to commit terrible deeds and nonetheless remain a good person? Or are Abby and Ellie beyond the possibility of redemption?

For certain, TLOU2's skewed morality is a dilemma reinforced in subtle (and not so subtle) ways throughout the game - if it's not the tribal warfare raging across Seattle (itself a conflict obsessively and circuitously preoccupied with who started what and with endless justifications for increasingly violent and extreme acts of retaliation) then it's the tongue-in-cheek trading card collectibles scattered throughout the world which perform the relatable, adolescent urge to "grade" fictional characters on a moral spectrum from "Villain" to "Hero" with even the possibility to include "Neutral" heroes and villains. Where do we place ourselves on such a scale? Especially after we realise we have widowed and orphaned countless members of the WLF?

The most valid criticism of this game, I feel, is its chronologically chaotic approach to pacing. It's almost conspiratorial to think about how similar Ellie's character model has been taken to resemble Ellen Page when the narrative order of TLOU2 appears to take its cues from Beyond: Two Souls, a title in which Page played the leading role (complete with morally grey dilemmas and sad, wistful acoustic guitar performances). While many are upset with the decision to have Joel savagely beaten to death within the game's opening hours, I can think of no better way to inject this level of raw, emotional conflict and narrative urgency into what could have been a fairly predictable sequel. TLOU2 is more than just a pretty face. There is real depth here to explore.

So many user reviews i've read seem to misunderstand the central themes of this game. On the surface it's a simple revenge story, much in the same way that the first game was a simple get from point A to point B story, but like the first game it is elevated by the engrossing character development. Perspective is a central theme here.

I'd advise anyone reading this to ignore people review bombing this game. It's abundantly clear that said people haven't played enough truly terrible games.

I don't usually do any of this but this game deserves it.
This was the best game I have ever played in my life. It was a mixture of emotions, it's like a bomb, you don't know if you're going to laugh, cry, jump in fright, if you're going to scream, anyway.
Yes, the game is strong. Yes, the game is not for everyone. But I assure you that as soon as you understand the story and message of this game, you will love it as much as I do.
The last of us part II is a masterpiece. The game starts in a quiet village, with patrols etc. One day jackson has a terrible event. The joel dies in an unbelievable way .. I have not yet overcome his death .. Ellie goes after revenge for his death, goes after whoever killed him. And I love that @naughty_dog_inc is able to get you attached to ellie.
I cried with her so many times during the game. The naughty dog made me stop the game because I was afraid to kill her (ellie) (whoever played knows what I'm talking about)
This game makes you feel what the character (be it ellie, be another character) is feeling and this is the best I've ever seen.
During the game you will be playing with Ellie and Abby, which I didn’t like at first because abby killed joel, but the game managed to show both sides of the story very well, and there are no villains or heroes. The two did unbelievable things. I heard a phrase in a review that I think describes the game well.
"Revenge is like salt water, the more you drink the more thirsty you will be." The game teaches that sometimes it is better to stop and think, than to run after revenge can sometimes be impossible to achieve.
In my opinion it was a game that I will never forget. It was a game that talks about many taboos and many subjects that no other game talks about, and naughty dog does it like no one else.
Of course you may not like it, this is just my opinion.
Thank you @naughty_dog_inc for this masterpiece, thank you for this game that made me cry so much in a way that any other game made me cry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely loved this game and I think Naughty Dog should be at least commended for trying out something quite different and more risky than most other story-driven games in recent times. I can definitely see why some people aren't happy with the direction that this game went, especially since it begins with the death of a beloved character, but don't dismiss it as "bad writing" just because your favorite character dies - the world of this game is unforgiving and relentless. Beyond that, I'm glad that this game isn't just a cut-and-dry revenge story. On the surface, this game seems like it's completely centered around hate, but I feel like the game is more a cautionary tale of obsession and the importance of forgiveness and letting go of the past, and I respect this more nuanced take that the studio had decided to go with. Yes, it would've been satisfying to have killed Abby at the end, but that would have undermined the entire point of the game: that revenge won't undo the deeds of the past, and that the best way to deal with loss is not to dwell on it but to move on. Besides the story, this has some of the best music, acting and graphics of any PlayStation game to date. The gameplay's pretty smooth and it's solid as a stealth/action game. However, my biggest gripe with the game is probably through it's pacing - Ellie's first 3 days in Seattle I'm okay with, but Abby's part (especially day 1) felt like it was dragging on a little bit since it was jarring how all the momentum that had built up to the conclusion of Ellie's day 3 was just suddenly lost. Otherwise, this is a great, emotional journey that I would recommend any Last of Us 1 fan to at least experience with an open mind. Regarding the hate for the game, there is definitely some valid criticism, but I wouldn't blindly base my opinion on the game based on story beats without any context or based on what other people online say about it. And that goes for both sides. Expand

Honestly, I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign, I enjoyed the gameplay and the detail that was put into the game, but unfortunately I don't know how to feel about the end of the story as it left me with a lot of conflicted emotions that I can't seem to understand. I do believe it is a good game, but many things hold it back at times, Abby is not a character anyone wants to see in a game as she serves no purpose other than for story, it is very difficult to relate to her becuase the way she went about things didn't seem to be fair. The game had a lot of potential, but unfortunately it didn't reach the same level of greatness as the first game. Expand

Don't get me wrong, the game has its great moments, tension, suspense, horror and lost if action. The decision to get rid of one of the main characters so early in the game I believe is wrong. Anyway is enjoyable and a little bit too long but is still solid game, graphics are amazing. I don't understand the hate from conservative people regarding the "agenda" that Naughty dog would be implementing or taking part of? Some people are gay, get over it folks. Expand

    Abby is NOT the problem.

But a big lack of empathy is whats wrong with today's society.
So it was kind of predictable. And Naughty Dog probably knew that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is going to be separated into two parts, the first being my own personal opinion to the game and the second part my reaction and thoughts to what people have been saying about the game.
I am far from completing this game hence why i have given it an 8. So far impressed is not even the word i would use to describe this game, it exceeded graphical expectations that i did not know could be maintained on a console of this generation and its character development was fantastic with how quickly I fell in love with new characters such as Jesse and even more with old characters such as Maria in the short amount of time i saw her. Managing to avoid the leaks Joel’s death was a complete shock to the system that made me feel the same amount of anger that Ellie did, after spending the whole of the first game becoming the character that you play, as well as Dina’s pregnancy reveal throwing a whole other obstacle into the revenge story. Going into the game i had high hopes, however as time drew closer to the release i became concerned that we would have a repeat layout of the first game being, we have a story that surrounds Ellie’s immunity to the fungal virus and we have to go on a country wide quest to find someone who can help, or something along those lines. Although, I was pleasantly surprised that instead of forcing me though a few states that were full of clickers, runners and bloaters we went straight to Seattle and the game takes place here for it’s majority. When it comes to runners and clickers the new types of “zombies” were very refreshing and added a whole other layer of strategy to the game, similarly had felt the same excitement for areas where you’re opposition was both living and “dead”. So overall, this game has been a fantastic experience so far and it’s inclusion of LGBT expression from Dina and Ellie, to a pride filled book store in the first day of Seattle has been especially refreshing as it is not shoving it down your throat it is making them seem like a real couple no matter the gender they act as anyone else would, as well as discrete mentions of religion and other less talked about topics in video games.
A key issue that i have had with the negative reviews of this game is people who have put a review out on the day that they received this game saying they hated it from beginning to end, this game, if played through with proper exploration and is not rushed through is around 30 hours of gameplay, that tells me that the people who have written reviews for this game on the day of release have not taken time to appreciate this game and have missed heartwarming parts of the story that develop the characters a little more, such as Ellie’s cover of Take On Me in the music shop and Ellie and Dina’s conversation of growing old and living life to the fullest in a farmhouse with pets. A game like this is not to be rushed otherwise key points that helped to develop these so called ‘bland’ characters will be missed and will cause you to think this. Also many people seem to have an issue of its portrayal of a lesbian couple and well if you are so disgusted at the sight of two women who are in love kissing on camera then you are growing up in the wrong era because this kind of development in gaming should have happened long before now. Thirdly, many people disliked the game before even properly starting it after 3 hours in and Joel’s death happens people were furious with ‘trashy writing’ and a ‘rushed narrative’ however you have to looked at what Naughty Dog wanted for this game. They wanted a revenge story that the player could relate to so killing off Dina would feel underwhelming and you would not be able to sympathise with Ellie as well as copying the recipe from the first one that worked so well which was killing off Sarah I the first 20-30 minutes, or alternatively if they would have killed Joel off say 10 hours into the game it would have felt dragged out for me. Something i have noticed a lot of people mention is how it is uncharacteristic of Joel to trust someone as quickly as he did with Abby however, look at what we know, he as lived in a perfectly secure and welcoming civilisation wth Maria and Tommy, over those 4 years he has had to worry about outside threats less and less and has begun to see the good in people, therefore he is likely to have gone very soft over these many years, another way to look at it is that he had no other options at the time, they were being chased by a horde and was told of a secure location that according to his response to it, he knew and had likely been to before, so considering his options his judgement was possibly clouded. Overall, I think there is unnecessary backlash, however this has allowed me to appreciate the game even more and look at it from different perspectives

While I can understand where they may be coming from, I feel like I can't logically come to the same conclusion.

The story was really good and really well done and instead of trying to rehash the same story it tried something new that impacted you afterwards.

I think if many additions that many people dislike were taken out, it would be a lesser game. They are vital to the story being as good and impactful as it was, and allowed for the gameplay to be deeper and more unique compared to the previous game.

All in all, while the story may be different, it's amazing and just as good as the first (if not better). And the gameplay is incredibly fun and expands well on the groundwork laid in The Last of Us.

Its exhausting to play, because you put so much mental and emotional energy into each story and combat sequence, but you cant put the game down. It is an enthralling, incredible experience and work of art, and one of the best games ever made.

TLOU2 presents a storyline very different but yet extremely similiar to the first game, the game has gotten alot of hate because of ABBY the person who killed joel (main character in a horrific way, people have the problem of being way too soft, this game is unlike any other game ive ever played, the game has so many emotions entitled to it, the game has become so incredibly realistic not in the graphics, but in character behavior and emotion, it shows the frustration of the characters it shows a type of format wich goes with two sides of two characters, 1 evil, 1 good, but as you go on it shows tje humanity and the similarities between the characters, alot of reviewers and fans wanted a game filled with happiness of where u see joel and ellie roaming the USA in such a progressive and fun chill way, but yet aggressive, in TLOU2 its depressibg, the game shows such great writing that it really shows the lack of quality of games these days, in the entire decade only 4 games have stood out to be the best, TLOU, GOW, RDR2 and TLOU2, this game shows such emotion that its hard to believe that this is a video game, the atmosphere, the graphics
the infinite ways to approach a situation, the AI is incredibly unpredictable wich gives you this alive type of feeling, the combat is incredibly realistic showing a real punch, not an incredible jab evrey time u press the pucnh button, the blood that comes out of your enemies that u just slaughtered feels like you actually killed someone, the game is so good i felt like i was in the game, i forgot i was even playing sometimes, so many reviewers keep saying this game is good for some people wich it is, for quality reviewist, it dosent feel like a bland game like i anticipated it would be, its incredibly well written, the game shows real and depressing emotions wich ive never seen before ecxept in the first game, there are numerous flaws but they are minor, the jump button had potential, the puzzles werent good but they werent bad either (ropes felt clonky), the gun play was a pretty normal, it was functional, it flet like a teen was holding the gun, some of the time frames werent coordinated and felt very idiotic but they werent terrible, and some of the characters get introduced 5 hours after you kill them with a pipe, wich feels just lazy but not terrible still, they couldve added a special move where u press 4 different buttons one after another to make a cool kick or something like that, the games hate comes from the main character dying and that you have to play as his killer, unlike other people i had an opened mind even though i fell in love with joel in first game ( ive played TLOU1 about 29 times just because it was so good and im already starting a new walkthrough on the 2nd game) people arent very appreciative of abby and dont try to understand why she did it, hopefully more people give it a second try and realise how good it is, and try to enjoy the game from a more easy and open perspective instead of crying because joel died, it feels like alot of the critics didnt even play the game, i can go on and on defending the game while u could just give it a 2nd try like we did with the 1st game, my rating is a 9.3 it dosent deserve the 0.7 because of the easily fixable flaws.

A few improvements and functions were implemented into the game, while others were discarded or downgraded (maybe).

The mechanics in comparison with the first game was a good improvement plus the ambient, locations, global illumination, graphics, sounds, etc.

And since a game is not only composed by the story but also by many aspects, I will be honest. Considering this game tell us a concept about a post-apocalyptic world, I was expecting that the story would not do that well at part II.

For this reason I remove 2 whole points. The story is neither bad nor good, it is as dark and heavy as a horror story (even worse). It describes the reality of human beings living in a post-apocalyptic world and learning with their mistakes, and paying for their acts (or sins).

The characters were also very "reworked" (Joel becomes sensitive and inattentive in comparison with the first game, and other new characters comes from nowhere, maybe not precisely seen on the first game).

It's clear that this game tells us a concept of a world in critical situations, but this was not related in exact at the first game, which made me feel very sad for the Part II (considering part I was also sad from the start to the end).

I was aware of all these points and can understand the bad reviews about the story (which is not a scripted story but a concept), but to be honest, the game is not just the story.

And even if it was because of the story that the game received positive reviews, people must know that this is a negative part of the game (in my case -2 points) and not the whole. The game did not innovate a lot in comparison with the first game, but it followed a good position.

I forgot to mention that from the -2 points of my review, one was considering the unclear launch and confusing organization of the game. The company needs to improve this, and I mean by a LOT, literally!

The first game is scored 10 for me and I recommend it. Now part II... if you like the "script" about Ellie and Joel, consider skipping this game and have fun with TL OU part I and its "DL Cs", because they are quite good.

Now if you don't care about the concept of this game, I would think twice, before playing, because this game has a very distorted and dark (even violent) story. And other than that, mechanics are not deep explored, just a few minorities were implemented.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 in my opinion is a fantastic game. It has gotten a lot of unnecessary hate because of story events that the majority of people don’t like. People are praising Joel for what he’s done while in reality he’s caused the most deaths by not letting the Fireflies make the cure. His death from the hands of WLF is harsh but justified in their world. We play as Abby and Ellie in the game and people say it does nothing because they don’t like Abby. However, the Abby’s side of the story did so much and put into perspective that both sides of this fight view themselves as the good guys (Ellie trying to avenge Joel’s death and Abby avenging her dads and countless other deaths because of Joel). Also, another complaint that I’ve seen from people is that Abby doesn’t die in the end. However, this ending shows the growth of Ellie the most. While she’s drowning Abby, she flashes back to a scene where Ellie and Joel talking about what happened in the ending of tlou 1. At the end of this scene, Ellie says that she will forgive Joel for what he did and she realizes while drowning Abby that she has to do the same for her. For the gameplay, it’s not as bad as people say it is. The stealth aspect is some of my favorite and gun play feels authentic. Level design does feel off as it blocks you off with small foliage (bushes, branches, etc) but that’s not enough to make me hate the gameplay. Overall, I think the game is fantastic and is receiving a lot of unnecessary hate due to two events that are very good once they’re understood. Expand

Facial expressions, character animations are incredible - this should be standard across all AAA games. In general graphic, while I'm realizing it still runs on 7 years old crappy HW, is astonishing. Combat flow is awesome - remember gameplay trailer from E3 2018 when most of us were saying: "yes, nice rendered animation sequences, no way it could be actual gameplay, it's too smooth"? Well, it's true. That was actual gameplay (everything you saw in that gameplay trailer is really in the game and prefectly working). Yes AI is sometimes not so great especially in the stealth phase but nothing terrible and it is still beter than AI in any another game. And music? As in the first game is awesome as well.

Locations are also well designed, when you decide to explore every corner then you will reveal many little stories in this sad postapocalyptic world. So now I'm getting to the point that despite many happy moments or awesome scenes (which you will not want to leave) this game is in general very sad, very brutal and violent. So if you got problem with a lots of blood, knives in the neck, broken bones, broken necks, killing people/animals/zombies etc. then probably this game isn't for you and you should avoid it at any cost to keep your mental health safe.

Now about story. I was lucky that I avoided all the spoilers and leaks so I could fully enjoy the story and I must say it was very good story, every chapter was well-placed, every character decision understandable, my emotions were jumping from the absolute happinnes to the absolute saddness. And in the end I only was a little bit disapointed how the story ended but also at the same time I was feeling happy that it ended in that way.

One note: if you are new to The Last of Us then I really recommend to play the first game before Part II, even if the Part II in the end explains/reminds everything that was in the first game, only in this way you could be fully immersed by the story and fully hit by all the emotions.

    Well done Naughty Dog, 10/10.

Joel was more carefree, yes. But just remember he was living in a peaceful community for the past years with his brother and Ellie. The coffee exchange and Ellie’s birthday gift also implies that he is really more at ease and trusting people again (and taking risks). Ellie quest was not only revenge, she was trying to find a way to forgive Joel. It is clear that she was lost (after killing Mel and Owen she realizes that she went too far). Anyway, although Joel died, I assume he died happy because of what Ellie said. And just a small detail, when Ellie went to talk to him, he was playing the same song as when Ellie kissed Dina at the dance. I just can’t dislike this game.

Simplemente lo mejor, toda una pelea con los demonios internos de dos personas con una conclusión satisfactoria, difícil volver a ver un juego como este.

The beast game that I never play.
Is sad that the people hate the game just because it became fashionable to criticize everything new

I feel like anyone who rated this game under 8 stars is a jackass. It isn’t “political” it’s REAL. I loved the story. I LOVED that you get to see things from the other side as well. The whole thing broke my heart and had me hooked at the same time! Ending was a little sad. I hate that she can’t play guitar anymore!

    Graphics were great.
Characters were well rounded and easy to connect with.
    Story was GREAT.
    Pretty long, which is nice!

Buen juego. Cierra la historia del 1 y da sentido a expansión left behind, además de incorporar jugabilidad alternativa. Si bien no es tan bueno como el 1 en narrativa, lo supera en otros aspectos.

My honest, SPOILER FREE review, as a huge fan of the first game: This will be a bit long, but hear me out. Pros: visuals. It's hard to say best, there are so many good looking games this console generation, but tlou2 is definitely somewhere in the top 5.

Sound. The sound design, and especially the voice acting, is top notch, which brings me to my next pro. Performances. This is without a doubt the best acting and animation I have ever seen in a video game. It's actually mind blowing at times how much you can get from a character without them even saying anything. Game play. Think tlou1, but with small improvements to every single element. Everything just feels more fluid and satisfying, but if you did not like the game play of the first game, then you probably won't enjoy the second either, as it's very similar. Story. Don't worry I'll be vague. Ooook, so here is the big one that is dividing the fanbase. First, this game is very long for a linear story game, almost twice the length of the first, but this is a plus in my eyes. It feels like a huge, emotional journey, and I still can not stop thinking about it, which I think says a lot. However, the story is not as airtight and perfect as the first game, there are more flaws. As far as content goes, just strictly speaking about what actually happens, I loved it. BUT... I feel like the pacing and structure of the story had some major issues. Which brings me to-

Cons. Story pacing and structure. Naughty dog made some really bold and risky decisions with the story, which I personally was very much on board with. There is a roughly 10 hour section of the game that some people either hated altogether or felt was too long. I disagree. I think this section, as well as the length of it, is absolutely necessary for the story to work. My problem with it is the TIMING. The way the story is structured, the timing of when this segment occurs completely destroys the momentum that had been building up, and I really wish it simply happened earlier in the overall story. I actually think that a decent amount of people that hated the story would've liked it, if the structure and timing of events was moved around a bit. There are also a lot of flashbacks, and while some of them are perfectly placed and incredibly touching, others seem to come out of nowhere and don't quite land emotionally. Aaaannnd those are really my only cons with the game. Story content: excellent. Story pacing and structure : messy. I also have one minor con with the game play: scrounging for materials starts to feel tedious by the second half of the game. The first game also had this issue, but it was less noticeable due to the shorter length. Conclusion: story-8.5 gameplay-9 overall experience (not an average) 9/10 For some context, I would rate tlou1 story-9.5 gameplay-8 Thanks for reading my review!

Firstly the first game is probably the best game I ever played at the time of its PS4 remaster. Naughty dog has taken everything from the first game and improved it.

Visuals have drastically improved with the times, characters are more facially expressive, environments more fleshed out and lived in. They have added exploration so all those buildings your going past in the original, well in this one you can go into most of them.

You can now dodge, jump, and move lying on the floor. All three add extra elements to both stealth and combat. Lying in tall grass, crawling under obstacles make great stealth options. Every area is more complicated giving you more options as well as dangers.

I have jumped, yelled nooo as characters die and your mind is messed with. Some characters journey changes them for the better and others for the worse.

Uncharted 4 meets last of us part one and has a baby. God of war meets evil within and has a baby. Both those babies meet and this game is its offspring.

To sum up they have improved every aspect of the game and the only thing anyone seems to criticise is what happens to certain characters. Well they are simply wrong, life is not a fairytale and good people can do bad things and bad people do good things. Sometimes life is blurred and you can't see what is right or wrong as the game has shown. Simply brilliant.

A very good game that is surrounded by misinformation as to what exactly it contains. I was very upset when I saw the “spoilers” and decided not to buy but was convinced by friends to play the game anyway. After playing it, it’s obvious that a lot of people are lying about what happens in this game or simply misinformed by people who are willfully steering away from the truth.

Having played the game, I’m very happy to say it is one of the best games I have ever played. Never before have I found myself to be as immersed in a fictional world as the one presented in The Last of Us part 2. The combat is engaging and tense and the environments are incredibly fleshed out scenes that always have their own story contained within. The story of the game itself is fantastic and a worthy successor to the first, despite what a bunch of reactionary toddlers on the Internet might say. While the narrative has some elements that hurt its overall impact, it’s rarely enough to pull you out of the story.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
