I was really okay with the story, it was sad to see Ellie remaining allone after Naughty Dog introduced Dina to us, who supported Ellie even after she killed Mel and her friend (hoops, just forgot his name at the moment). And then getting into that conflicts of conscience while seeing Abby loosing everyone around her by Ellie, Tommy and co. But as conclusion for me Abby was much worse than Ellie because of killing Joel - for me, he'll never die -

    And as final message: It is the best game, I've ever played and was a worthy conclusion for the ps4 Era (please just forget Cyberpunk, thanks)    … Expand

    Pra mim foi um dos melhores jogos que joguei na minha vida, se é o melhor não sei, mas isso vai da opinião de cada um, acho que pelo conjunto do jogo independente de a história não ter agradado a todos, o jogo é incrivelmente bom, tanto em gráficos, como em gameplay, dentre muitas outras qualidades.

    This game is so good, but not quite as good as the first one. This is some of the best story telling period. Hollywood can't do this stuff and this is in a video game. I would give it a 10, but the fights between Abby and Ellie take away from the quality of this game. Everything but that was done perfectly!     I think there are some details about the game that people did not understand well, and they give a bad rating just because the game doesn't have a good ending and other things, i mean yeah it is not the best development of story but is good enough to offer a very good game, stop that stupid hate if you haven't played yet

Overall amazing game kept me invested in it throughout the whole game, I didn't think I was going to like certain characters and they grew on me over time. Ok I watch a lot of critics saying that play with the character that kills “you know who” its detestable but it’s really a need of the game at least me, when Abby is kicking in the ass Ellie I felt bad (obviously) but then when Ellie is kicking and almost killing Abby I also feel bad because know we know the reasons why she killed “you know who” and we see how she also has lost people at cause of Ellie and if you see Ellie killed more people than Abby. Also it’s almost the same story of the las of us part 1 you go through half of U.S.A for nothing at the end. Abby is a big character, at the end we know what she’s been through and how that affect her. Yes of course we love Ellie because we’ve been with her since first game but Abby have a lot of history at first obviously I hate her with all my soul but at the end I didn’t want her to suffer. I think this game have a great end, a great history, great graphics, it’s great in everything, my score is a 11/10… Expand

    This game is a masterpiece! It has a great message about moral and ethics facts we all human being need to understand in our real life.

    Great performances great story !
    And the best thing is that it's not a fan service that's why most of dumb players who doesn't understand their own life won't understand the game!
    Can't wait for part 3! You guys have lot of material there !

    Es un juego muy bueno, lo unico malo son algunos personajes segundarios con los cuales no llegas a conectar y se sienten un tanto innecesarios de ahi en fuera todo es hermoso.

    The story is violent and controversial in the vein of The Nightingale (2018) as tense as Uncut Gems (2019) and as bittersweet as the first Last of Us. Though it does stumble a bit when it comes to pacing (especially half-way through the game) but the momentum that was broken is masterfully brought back, building to a tense climax, aftermath, and emotional and reflective resolution.

    Along with my complaints with the glaring break in momentum, the game, at some points, felt needlessly long. Certain events could have been shortened to allow for a better flow of the story. However, that was not too bothersome. The marketing did feel misleading in that the audience expected major plot points that did not end up happening. However, misleading marketing is what Hollywood does so often, that it's somewhat of a given when it comes to AAA games and blockbuster movies.

    Needless to say, the game is 100% worth your time and money.    … Expand

Besides that, i would have to say that it is probably one of the, if not thee best game I have ever played. Gameplay, story, visuals were superb. Not sure why everyone is hating this much.     I can understand some of the criticisms about this game's story, but I can't help but get engrossed in its narrative when looking at the bigger picture.

    Before diving into the story, I'll quickly get everything else out of the way by saying that the combat, visuals, and score are all more than serviceable at their worst but outstanding at their best.     Before diving into the story, I'll quickly get everything else out of the way by saying that the combat, visuals, and score are all more than serviceable at their worst but outstanding at their best. The combat and exploration does overstay its welcome at times to the point where the game feels almost bloated but it still works wonderfully to help understand just what these characters are going through.

    I want to try my best to not spoil anything about the story, so I'll start by saying what kind of story this ultimately is:

    The story of TLOU2 is about forgiveness but disguises itself as revenge. When you begin the game and start Ellie's journey, everything feels obvious, you know that the person who started this is bad and you need to get revenge for what they've done. But as you play more, you start to see just how many layers there are to what you're doing and how nothing is as black-and-white as it seems, and by the end you understand how selfish acts only hurt everyone - most importantly yourself. This doesn't only come through the brutal violence that surrounds the game, but it also shows itself in each characters's emotions and feelings towards one-another. The catch is that this only becomes apparent if you allow yourself to empathize and understand the characters without letting pre-conceived notions cloud your judgement. If you can look past the flaws of certain characters and understand them as people then you'll likely enjoy this game, otherwise it'll be nothing but misery.

    My only gripes with the story are more based in how it's presented rather than the content itself. The story will continuously use flashbacks, albeit in a chronological order, but in a way that still distracts from the story at times. But much bigger than that is the overall pacing, as it tends to make the game feel much longer than it is. The game itself took me 25 hours, and while this did include long stretches of looting and exploring, chapters often felt incredibly long and filled to the brim with story moments that almost made it hard to handle. Multiple objectives and important story events will happen within a day and the ending started to feel like it was farther and farther away when it was actually closer than ever.

    Overall, the story, the bulk of the game, is wonderful and bold for a video game. But it'll only be that way if you really try and see what the writers and actors wanted to convey instead of letting your own ideas cloud it all. My only other recommendation is to play the first one beforehand and to go in as blind as possible.    … Expand

While watching the credits roll out I understand why now; It's because I missed Joel so much, I kept remembering him and all the beautiful scenes with him, just like Ellie did during the entire experience, reading her diary makes a great difference, so with this in mind, it wouldn't be possible without having to see what Abby experienced so you can have a broader view of all that happened and why, still this does not absolve her of anything, if it were my choice I would definitely drown her, but its not, and Ellie really made the right choice because she saw Joel at the end, she felt all his love and released all the anger she had inside, she burst into tears, something she didn't do during the entire experience, she was just tired of it all, just as we were, I was so stressed the whole game, and then happy and then angry, and then stressed again, and for a game to bring you all this emotions, oh man, that deserves praise, I won't even talk about the gameplay It's just a beauty, organic, smooth, brutal and gratifying.… Expand

To the Naughty Dog team — you’ve done a wonderful job with this game. Don’t let these naysayers tell you otherwise. This is a masterpiece of a video game and it will ultimately be remembered as that.

    For those of you who are too close-minded to comprehend the complexity of moral relativity, or too insecure about your sexuality to accept, without judgement, the sexual preference of another human being, you still have a lot of growth to do. You should put more effort into progressing as a human and less effort into criticizing the hard work of people who obviously have accomplished, both professionally and personally, more than you.

    Pude empatizar con la historia, con los personajes, y con el mensaje que el juego trata de contar. Admiro el riesgo que los desarrolladores tomaron con los personajes. El juego me hizo enojar, me hizo llorar y me hizo reir. Creo que ese es su mérito. No creo que supere el 1 pero sigue siendo un buen juego.

    I personally find it a phenomenal game, Gameplay is fun and in some places, addictive. The story seemed interesting to me but the ending was disappointing.

    Still, that didn't stop him from enjoying the game and he's definitely one of the best Playstation 4 games. Great Gameplay, story with a disappointing ending, but still, it's awesome.     This game should have been a 10/10 in my opinion if they Joel live for more than the first part of the game and let him die in the end and be given a meaningful death and give Ellie and the player closure, he was a fan favorite and didn't deserve to die like that.
    The things i love, the game is stunning and on par with p.c games in my opinion, the gameplay was smooth and i didn't encounter frame rate drops or glitches, the weapons system was fantastic, the stealth was superbly done, the gore was so good it rivals the gore in mortal kombat games, the details in every environment will make stand there and admire it like the fungus growing in spore filled areas, the amazing scenery in the game is absolutely stunning i had to stop and admire all of it, the Joel and Ellie flashbacks are in my opinion the best parts in the game, this games equals pros and cons because of this game centers itself in negative emotions that makes the player feel angry and upset just like ellie in the game, this game is about revenge and forgiveness and kudos to naughty dog for making me feel the exact same feeling as the character im playing as. 9/10 solid game. When playing as Abby it did get a bit slow but gave you a sense of her side. Joel's death was way too convenient. Abby just happened upon them. Was not feeling that I wish they made us work for it more. The ending I understood. Ellie could never forgive Joel for what she thought was a betrayal. Therefore she could not kill for him. Try as she might it brought her no closure. She risks everything to figure that out. The ending leaves me wanting more. Where do we go from here? I hope this isn't the end. If it is this game and all Ellie went through will be pointless. This has always been her story of survival and search for meaning. I want her to keep going. Overall not as impactful as the first but by no means can this be the end.… Expand

    I had some trouble with the story at first but then I remember in a trailer the one of the devs said that we needed an open mind for this game and I think that when you think about it long enough your realize that a complex story like this one is hard to find so we gotta appreciate it.

    Great game. Really tells a story about grief. It is truly upsetting and disturbing, but it is written so damn well. The reason I'm not giving it a 10 is because I felt like it went a little to far with the brutality towards the end of the game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall very good game. Loved the grim athmosphere which kept me on edge and gameplay was way better compared to the first game. Middle part was too long and took me out of the experience.. kind of like rdr2 which made me play Marston. I think the point could have been made a lot faster and most of the Owen flashbacks didnt add much to the plot. Didnt need as long to be able to understand why ellie made the right choice in the end. Ending was very satisfying and hopefully part 3 will continue with a more mature ellie.… Expand

I was angry when Joel died, but when you complete the game and spend so much time as the other perspective you understand how Ellie chasing her across the country is the EXACT same drive that Abby had to find Joel for revenge... the game ends with them seeing their actions cause a cycle of pain and suffering and if she can forgive Joel for his actions in the hospital, then she’s capable of forgiving and understanding Abhys reasons... yeah I should use more full stops... give the game a proper go with an open mind! 10/10… Expand

    I just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the bleak story and the settings, graphics, sounds, the acting, dialogue and action were all first-rate. I'm a big fan of stealth level-clearing action and there was plenty of that. The AI was good enough to make it fun. It's definitely a dark story and will make you uncomfortable but it was an interesting experienceI just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. It's one of the few games that I'm likely to play again a second time although with the size of the game I feel like I more than got my money's worth.

    My main frustration was just that for some areas midway through the game the rules had changed from what I'd learnt in the earlier parts meaning I missed collectables or spent a long time trying to get into a room that was not possible at that point.

While the story in part II can be depressing and rage inducing, it feels like the only way to pay respect to the character choices made in the original. The only complaints I have are that the parts with Abby felt drawn out and her reactions to tragic situations feel disingenuous compared to Ellie's.

Everything in this game is fantastic, the only thing some people have a problem with is the story, that’s it. The game is wayyy darker than the original, which is kinda unnecessary. Joel is brutally killed about 2 hours into the game. Everyone is upset about this, because they liked him. It seems they didn’t realize Joel is the bad guy of the original game... if you actually understood the story in the first game you will appreciate the story told in Part 2. The main problem I have is the ending, which is a pretty big disappointment and pretty dumb tbh. Apart from that this game is great, whether you like the story points in this game or not, you will be heavily immersed throughout. Would absolute recommend buying it!… Expand

An absolutely fantastic game, from the visuals and world creation, game mechanics and audio, it really is the best of the console generation. The story is where I’ve seen many complaints and after playing all the way through, I just don’t get many of those complaints and really wonder if they had actually played the game or rated based on spoilers. Joel’s death (triggered by revenge for Abby’s father) was the catalyst for Ellie’s revenge adventure of her own, so Joel had to die early to set this up. No point keeping him around for 8 hours first like some people have commented. You get him again through flashbacks which further help explain key story points. And Then I’ve seen complaints that Ellie sparing Abby was a wrong choice, but it is exactly what was needed to break the cycle of revenge. She needed to go after Abby one last time because of the PTSD she had from Joel’s death, she couldn’t calm, and then after the Trials getting there and the pain inflicted on her, and then seeing the trauma that Abby and Lev, when she had revenge in her hands she realised that she no longer needed it. Whether or not I would have preferred Joel to live or Abby to die does not make the story bad. The story was just what it needed to be. I’ve already started my New Game +. Play the game, and see it through. Amazing.… Expand

I think it’s worth noting that I played the game through after successfully avoiding any spoilers or leaks that were abundant in the lead-up to the game’s release, so I played the game untainted from anyThis game blew me away. It was incredible. But it was not perfect. In fact, the flaws in the game were so glaring that it’s a testament to how great the game is that I still gave it an 8. I think it’s worth noting that I played the game through after successfully avoiding any spoilers or leaks that were abundant in the lead-up to the game’s release, so I played the game untainted from any and all controversy. (Tangentially, I believe it highly likely that the vast majority of the low scores were submitted by people before playing—much less finishing—the game.) In short, TLOUP2 is probably the best game I’ve played in several years. For a minute there I thought it might be the best game I’ve ever played, period. Alas.

    Easily the biggest flaw of TLOUP2 was that it kept going... and going... and going some more. Which problem was compounded by the fact that it also suffered from the same issue as the first game—repetition. By the end of the first game I was just so tired of going into a “new” (old) building and killing infected in (basically) the same ways, searching for the same stuff, etc. I felt like TLOUP2 tried to improve this by mixing in more fights against humans (WLF, Scars, Rattlers), which was a nice change of pace. But with the game playing as long as it did, it still resulted in the same issue. By the end of the game I was barely going through the motions of playing the game, just to see the story play out.

    Which brings me to what I thought was one of the strongest and also weakest parts of the game: the story. I am in the camp that thought the story was brilliant. It was masterfully created, told, and tied together. It was compelling. It was thought provoking. HOWEVER—as good as I thought the story was, it was just EXHAUSTING. In a good way at times... but HOLY GOD. By the end it was just too much. Making you play fetch with the dog that you know you already took pleasure in killing just a few hours ago was just cruel. (There were numerous examples of this.) The most egregious over-the-top-ism I think was essentially turning the audience against Ellie by the end. I got the point. I see what they were trying to do. But I’m just not sure it was necessary to that extent.

    Further to the point of the story being a tad over the top, I lost track of the number of times various social justice themes were driven home. Hammered home. THUNDERED home. I don’t want to be beaten over the head with a cause—even ones I support. Especially in a video game. And everyone got the transgender message here. We didn’t need a not-so-subtle-dialogue explaining it to us. Much less witness the boy’s religion, society, AND MOTHER try to kill him for it, all but forcing him to turn against everything he knows and loves—to include murdering his own mother. Again, just a bit unnecessary.

    Anyway, again—great game. Amazing game. So many really great moments. Graphics, game play, soundtrack, acting, dialogue... they really nailed it in a lot of ways. And even with some of the flaws prevalent throughout, I think the game would have gotten a 9 or even a 10 from me if the whole thing had ended with Ellie sitting on the tractor watching the sunset. Story was told, lessons were learned, characters are still (mostly) beloved. It was enough. It was more than enough. The rest was just superfluous.    … Expand

La storia è emozionante e ammetto che ho tanta voglia di finirlo quanta voglia di lasciarlo lì perché lo vorrei giocare all'infinito. Sarebbe stato un gioco da 10, probabilmente osservando solo i particolari tecnici lo è eccome, eppure non ho apprezzato in alcun modo la trama di Abby. La storia è bella ma penso che si poteva fare in un DLC a parte e lasciare il gioco con la sola vendetta di Ellie, rendendo così quest'ultima più lunga da affrontare. Mi sono affezionato molto al personaggio di Ellie che può risultare antipatica a molti ma è la persona più vera e bella che abbia mai visto in un videogioco. I'm sure people have their reasons for the hate, however I played the whole game through and genuinely enjoyed it. Best game i played all year, beating out Sekiro. Don't listen to the hate. I didnt think I would review this game initially because I have never felt the need to but I personally love this series and hate to see it be bashed so hard, I know people really disliked this game and thats fine, but I also wish I could change someones opinion on it at least a little just so they can maybe feel what I felt when looking at this game. I also want to point out that I have not actually played the game yet, though I have watched hours and hours of game play and story and re watched many parts again, I also watched all of the negative videos on this game and positive ones. I think you should take a look at this video whether or not your view on the game is mixed bad or good, I think hearing the people that made the game talk about it might give you some more insight to many things that I personally was very confused about though if you dont care or want to like this story then there is no need to watch (links not permitted)
    now im going to start talking about the actual game and not just all of the controversy surrounding it. First off its pretty obvious that this game has some of the best graphics you will see in a while, there are so many small details that you most likely wont even notice and it all joins together and makes the game come to life. Small things like taking out an enemy near water makes their blood dialate with the water making it more clear. The level design is amazing and there is a really nice atmosphere in the rainy city of Seattle. I could go on and on about the graphics but you get the point. The gameplay is really good as well, though the normal mode is pretty easy for some and I think is more for players that wish to experience the story of the game first. Lots of people get bored of this though so if you like more challenging gameplay that puts your skills to the test, you are probably going to love the harder difficulty as it really makes you think about your ammo consumption as you find much less and enemies are just smarter overall. The stealth in this game has some of my favorite stealth scenes I have ever seen, it feels amazing to be hiding in tall grass and sneak around enemies, and tensions are raised whenever you come across dogs as they can trace your cent, all though it is very cool it is also very easy to counter this as throwing any object near the animal will break its trail to you. Weapons feel amazing and the animations for upgrading them are also fun to watch and see what your character will add to the weapon. Sometimes you will enter an area that will make a weapon more beneficial than others, and when fighting zombies or people your weapon selection will most likely change. I was a little disappointed to see how easy the iconic clickers zombies were to take down. Having Ellies unbreakable knife is definitely a nice quality of life after the first game but ultimately just makes zombies not very hard to deal with or seem easy without needing to use nearly as many supplies, though shivs do make a return once you play as Abby which I kind of enjoyed. The game is very immersive especially when you are in those stealth sections, but the one time you will really find your immersion shatter is when your ally walks directly in front of an enemy and the enemy doesn't react, though small talk is much appreciated and made me chuckle a lot and sometimes (very rarely) made me overwhelmed in joy, it is also very nice to be alone for many parts of the game just for immersions sake alone, also making you feel more bad ass talking on so many people solo. The game has many sections made for stealth and given the shortage of ammo you will almost always have, it is best to be stealthy, although you do not have to stealth kill anyone and you could go guns blazing almost whenever you see an enemy group which is a nice choice to have but it is just more difficult.
    The main thing about this game that people cant stand is the story, and I can completely understand why, though personally this story is everything and more than what I had asked for. Not only that but it is one of a kind and doesn't take the normal route most stories take. The large group of people that have seen this story are mainly angry because of Joels death (not that he died but how and when) and the ending which supposedly doesnt make a lot of sense. Im going to back peddle a bit and say that this story is very demanding of you and your feelings and requires you to go into it thinking selflessly about everything and take it for what it is, which is very cool because I dont think I have seen many stories do that to the viewer. Im not going to talk about the story a lot because I am running out of characters so I recommend you watch the video I sent if you wish to try to see this story in a better light because no one is better than the makers of the story to show you.     There where moments where I wanted to put the controller down because of the things the characters had to do. For the most the game is relentless and perhaps to it's detriment, at a point in time when we switch gears in the second half. Graphics and animations are like looking into a cinematic art gallery. It's also just amplified by great performance from the cast that I eventually grew fond of.

    Combat always pushed the pace for me and I love playing with the battle encounters and set pieces that had me putting my hands over my head several times. There were points, where I had grown vicious towards the inhabitants of the game. But then started to question "Was there another way to deal with the situation?".

    Also, we get great sounds effects from the explosions, to well produce sounds of Clickers and bad guys yearning in pain.

    I have must point out a musical instrument that plays in later intense encounters. Felt like it was a mix of Hunter being Hunted, or like"Jaws" but I'm the shark moving in for the kill. The score in the game is fantastic. However I did see some glitches here and there, but that was into my second playthrough. Side note there is a moment in the game that I tulry wish I had when I was a kid. You will know when you get there. Is the game perfect? no game is None the less, the game is a bash. The Last Of Us 2 is gaming royalty. I did not expect much from the game. Yet, it gave me a perspective I did not ask for, but needed. It made me understand some meanings of obsession, forgiveness, war, love, and the cycle of pain and loss.

    What's more it's a tale that you truly need to see through, like the two sides of a coin, to appreciate.    … Expand

    There are some strong sequences in the game but they are well presented & even though this game raises a bunch of new questions, I do strongly feel that by the time the end credits roll, it manages to answer all of them with a good ending.

    This game is absolutely incredible. People terrorising the reviews are either unable to empathise, or appreciate masterful story telling. Naughty Dog have created an absolute masterpiece here that left me shook to the core, hit deeply at so many points. This is a must play.

This is a great game that i recommend to everyone who owns a PS4, this game would be a 10/10 if it wasn't for the second half story, i get why they needed us to play as Abby, but i really hate that character, if the Abby part was like 2-3 hours long it would be fine but i think 10 hours as Abby is just not right, maybe would have been fine as a DLC, but not for the main game.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was f*cking LIVID over this game after I finished it, as most people are. Of course the graphics are f*cking amazing, but we all had a huge issue with the story and their deception in the trailers. SOME TREE TRUNK FIGURED B*TCH killed my man Joel and in that moment I was Ellie. I was full of anger and rage and all I saw was red for the entire rest of the game. Thinking that- making us play as this B*TCH was twisted and F*CKED up. I was stubborn. I didn't want to sympathize with Abby and I just wanted Ellie to get this show on the road and KILL her ass. I was like... f*ck naughty dog for thinking I'd want anything other than Ellie to get brutal ass revenge.

    After taking a step back from it, calming down, and reanalyzing I began to feel less angry. I thought about Abby's storyline and I started to sympathize. Ellie killed her friends and Abby spared her two f*cking times. TWICE. Abby broke my f*cking heart sometimes. I wanted Ellie to just part ways when she saw the boat...and I think she did too. She thought about Joel and instantly the anger comes back and in that moment I was Ellie. I wanted to beat that b*tch to a pulp. I believe they purposefully prolonged the fight, it went on so long and It didn't seem worth it anymore. That INSTANT GRATIFICATION wasn't worth it anymore. Man in that moment I was Ellie.. I let it go. She didn't kill her she let her go. Ellie ended the cycle and actually ended up saving Abby's life one could argue.

    I still have a hard time understanding why they lied about Joel surprising Ellie in the midst of the game when it was actually Jesse, so I'm docking a few points for that. Docked points as well because although it was necessary to view Abby's perspective...it did go on a bit long. Also... the repetitiveness of the actual gameplay was a drag.. felt like I was doing the same thing over and over, but that wasn't as big of a deal for me.

    NAUGHTY DOG I apologize. I was leaving comments, tweeting them, etc...and talking so much sh*t but man.... this f*cking game was a masterpiece once you realize the emotions you feel, good and bad, are exactly what they wanted you to feel. Actual geniuses.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
