What the hell is wrong with you destroying all the main characters we´re in love with them?, this game only make me feel depressed. ND you stoled my money, I want my refund now.

Games are split into 3 categories, little to know story (ie tetris) some story but often relies on other aspects (ie Call of duty, madden) and games like this. When it comes to games like this, story is Everything, I’ve seen so many critics give this 10/10 because of how pretty it looks, that’s not how you rate a game, that’s why I continue to feel as though the critics are soulless shells of humans who are in the pockets of big business and lost touch with the real consumer. An ending to a game can change the whole game entirely. Why do you kill of a beloved character as joel and push us the player on the quest for revenge, even have us play as Joel’s killer, that just pissed us off, literal salt in the wounds, and then you have the audacity to not let us finish the job at the end, like it gets a 0 for just “being pretty” and having similar mechanics to the first so it’s kinda easy to get into it but. Overall it gets a 0/10 from me. Better luck next time naughty dog. Expand

Just the sheer disrespect this game and developers have for its predecessor is appalling It's like they removed everything good about the first game that fans loved, including beloved characters and a dark world that still had hope and said no, F that, here's some wanton violence and violence for pure shock value. It means nothing to the story, where as TLOU was like a tunnel with a light at the end, TLOU part 2 is like you are stuck in an underground cave in and will never see light again. It's bleak and grim with no redeeming values and things happen with little respect to characters long standing personalities which are completely changed for plot convenience. It's like this game serves as nothing but a vessel to destroy those characters that fans love. Why? Why would ND do this to their fans? The gameplay was decent, not very innovative from the last game, and the graphics are a plus. But good graphics with such a poorly written, sickening story is not much of a benefit. Not to mention the player is forced to do countless awful things to get their vengeance, then the game denies even that and tries to scold the player for it, even though the game forced you onto that path. I know there are many fans like myself heart broken (and not in a good way) about what ND did here and I know I'm not the only one to think TLOU part II doesn't exist in my mind. What a disappointing end for us fans faithfully waiting for a (faithful) sequel for years, to say it fell short is an understatement. It's as if the developers went "hm, how can we really give the biggest F you to players?" everything they did callously intentional and knowingly against fans desires.

    RIP TLOU and ND credibility.

The Issues with the game come from the fact that the story is not only bleak and depressing (imagine Alien 3) but the themes of revenge and the relativistic nature of good v evil are overdone ..

The first game was good because it took a cliche story and made it special with the beautiful characters and their relationships ..

The gameplay is basically the same and hasn’t really changed much .... This sequel is not good ..

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was excited for Last of Us 2 since its announcement as i enjoyed the first one greatly. I played this game and i have never been let down so much in my life. This is all because of the poorly written story. All of the deaths felt rushed or dry and the ending of game had no pay off and just made you felt bad because you played the game.

Abby had potential to be a good character but forcing you to play her after you just watched her kill a favourite character is awful. You get zero interaction between Joel and Ellie in the actual game as he is dead within the first hour of the game.

The best scene in the game is actually a flashback that involves no combat or story progression with showing Ellie receiving a birthday gift of a tour of a dinosaur / space museum from Joel. This scene is what LOU2 should've been but it was tainted by poor writing and character deaths.

The game makes you feel bad by making you hunt down and kill the people who killed Joel and then make you play as Abby to showcase the pain you've caused. But this doesn't matter as they don't bring these characters up ever again. Manny was one of Abby's best friends and he gets sniped by Tommy and killed, he is never mentioned ever again by Abby. It also pulls this pregnancy card by making you feel bad because you killed a pregnant girl, even though she resisted when you asked her to point on a map and attacked you.

Jesse was a fun character who cracked multiple jokes at all times with a bright personality and was a good adition to the cast, but was wasted drastically as he had like 6 scenes in the game and is killed off because he ran through a door and shot dead instantly. He is then forgotten like he never existed and only ever mentioned once again after him dying like 40% through the story on a **** piece of paper which is just focused on Dina.

Dina was a good character which also was ruined by being placed in the back. She comes with you to hunt down Abby but mentions she is pregnant and is told to stay still in the Theatre and uses a radio to track down Abby via her friends. It makes sense to stay put but just sleeps after that and gets no screen time until later on where She and Ellie in a generic "Happy Ever After" scene where they get their own farmland and house with a great view away from all of the evils and society. But she just ditches Ellie when she goes back to hunt down and finish abby.

Then Issac the leader of the Wolfs just dies, accomplishing nothing to the story other than to make it understandable how the Wolfs lost the attack to the scars because they had no leader. The two scars where okay characters but where ruined by little screen time they show up late into the story and get a good story arc by saving abby from other scars, then its ruined by the child scar getting upset and running back home to his mom, despite running away from him cause he mom tried to kill him.

The last scenes shows another group which uses others as slaves by pretending to be Fireflies. Abby and Lev are caught and forced into slavery for 2 months. Ellie hunts them down to this area and attacks the compound to hunt down and kill Abby. She finds her but she is very skinny and basically on the brink of death to make you feel bad for Abby and then they fight each other with Abby restraining from fighting but being forced to by Ellie. Ellie then wins the fight and is about to kill Abby and decides not to because Revenge is bad, then lets her go and loses two fingers in the fight and heads back home to find Dina has left her and She can't play guitar anymore.

The combat was ok. It was good but certain set pieces are poorly balanced on the Hardest Difficulty. Such as the area where you must wait for Lev took rescues from a horde which attacks in you in a locked room before they bust down a ambulance window. If you are low on supplies this room gives you little to none to survive which makes it impossible and can be a soft-lock. Later combat sections are just large open fields with large amount of patrolling enemies which drop the FPS drastically and force you to kill to proceed but on the Hardest Difficulty this is frustrating because you can't aim precisely against large groups of enemies with a PS4 controller.

To put this shortly. This game feels like everybody worked their butt off to produce an amazing game but they were forced to follow bad directions from poor story telling by N. Druckman. This game does everything but the story really well and since this game is all about the emotional story which was what made the LOU1 a masterpiece. It kills the game and makes it a chore to play with no pay off.

    Story - 1/10
    Graphics - 9/10
    Gameplay - 6/10
    Sound - 9/10
    Voice Acting - 10/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything Naughty Dog built up in the first game was thrown away in the 2nd. Joel dies at the beginning without us even playing as him once. Missed opportunity but I got over it. We play as a character we have no emotional attachment to as well nor care for. The revenge story begins...I can deal with it. We then get what felt like a symbol female empowerment with the lesbian scenes and muscular female character. I can deal with it. We then are reminded of what Tommy is doing for revenge yet never get the opportunity to play as him. Another missed opportunity. Dina announces she's pregnant. How does this affect the story? Why even add this part? Nonetheless, the first half of the game was bearable. The 2nd half of the game is a different story. We are forced to again play as the character we do not care for. There is nothing the developers can do for us to sympathize for Abbie yet they force her story on us anyways. Jessie dies in an instant. Why even have scenes of him if he goes out like that? The least the writers could have done was instead of being fatally shot, have him hurt enough to fall to the ground and tell Ellie to tell Dina that he's sorry he can't be there for Dina since he knew she was pregnant before Abbie finishing him off with a gun to the head. But no, he is taken out with a snap of a finger. Tommy goes out the same way presumably. Again, we are forced to play the character for most of the game we do not care nor are emotionally invested it. After wasted hours playing as her, still do not care. It was during this point I just wanted to stop playing this garbage. She lets Ellie live AGAIN. Fast forward, we find out Tommy is alive. That was literally the only positive about the 2nd half of the game but now he's disabled with a missing eyes and a limp resulting in most likely no future in a potential 3rd game (I don't want one after this mess). Do we really want revenge after this? We were put through being forced to play a character I don't care for and lets Ellie live TWICE already. If the developers just had to FORCE the story, give us the option between choosing Abbie's story and Ellie's and I guarantee you, it would be unanimous that players choose Ellie and only choose Abbie because they're curious, not because they care for her character in any way, shape, or form. Awful game and it's generous I'm giving this game a 3 out of 10. Expand

The last of us part 2. oh god, alright. story wise, trash. everything else (graphics, gameplay, sound, voice acting, ect) amazing. hense the 2. for me, the reason i enjoyed part 1 was because of its increable story, compelling plot, and characters. having a dude who lost his daughter, through horrible eevnts, almost lose a second one was compelling, and felt human. on the contrary, we have a angsty revenge story. not to mention the fact they killed the best character of the game, joel, just like that. abby seemed like such a interesting villain, with her backstory and all. but it was ruined by the writting trying to make us think she was right to kill joel, just completly contradicting what the first game had worked so hard to do. thats bad writting. also why in the heck would joel trust a random girl he just met? he spent the first game not trusting anyone, and that was why his bond with ellie was so special, thats why saving her was so special. cons over, on to the pros.

    1. the game play
the fight scenes, and npc's felt more real
    2. the graphics
i mean this one is a given 3. sound
jeezous the music, amazing. i could listen to the osts forever
    4. voice acting
this is where i have to give major props. i mean just listen to the running moan in agony, it sounds like they are in real pain. ashley mever disapoints, hearing ellie scream as she watched joel be murdered in front of her hurt me on a level i didnt think a game could.
    5. the monsters
oh my god the monsters. i still cant get over the part at the begining where ellie fell through the ceiling and ellie almost got eaten by a clicker (then the clicker was shot by dina but no one cares about dina) 6. graphics
imma say it again. this game made me forget this wanst live action. every little detail was amazing. i am not at all hating on this game, i actually enjoyed a lot of the scenes, (mostly the flash backs with joel, sorry but ellie and joel are just too cute together)

in conclusion 2/10. sorry but story is very important to me

Had the writers at Naughty Dog had a bit more common sense and had they actually used sound story design techniques rather than using some cliche revenge story which has been done a hundred times over, this game would have been in contention for one of the best video games of all time. All that being said the gameplay is what you’d expect from TLOU. I’m not sure what all these “professional critics” were talking about when they said that Naughty Dog had “evolved the gameplay from the first game” as it’s almost a carbon copy from the 2013 original. Many hours of the game can be summed up as a “walking simulator” where the game simply tells you to follow someone or tells you to go from point A to point B constantly with no real gameplay. This honestly could have been better as a movie rather than a game. That being said, the graphics are stunning and the visuals and atmosphere are downright gorgeous. The game is well optimized and runs smoothly with minimal bugs and glitches. The game does a good job of putting you into the world and making you feel like you’re really in the game. Sadly I can’t give this game a high or even average rating. TLOU2 hinges heavily on having a good story to make up for the lackluster and extremely linear gameplay. However it’s really hard for a game in 2020 to be considered good or even great with dated gameplay that almost completely mimics it’s 2013 predecessor, when the whole story, is just one massive, uninteresting revenge story. Had this game had a far more compelling storyline with good character development and at least decent characters, it could have been at least a “good” game. Expand

As much as I would have wanted to go in the game open-minded, it wasn't easy, as moments in the story are so confusing and irritating that it is too distracting. As a fan of the original, I knew that someone important was going to die, but to kill them off at the start before we get to experience in this new game, it is more than disappointing. This game gets some things right and some wrong. The first good thing about this game is the visuals and the scenery. The environments look real, the facial animations look incredible, the animations, in general, look amazing. This game took a first good step in the next generation but that's about it. The narrative of this game is close to pointless. In the first half of the game, you get to play as Ellie, where you are introduced to the mechanics and the characters. You make your way to Seattle to try to find Abby, the other "protagonist" of the story to seek revenge, as she did for her father. You end up killing all her friends, who had a pretty insignificant impact to the story and the game and then you transition to the second half of the story, where you get to play as Abby. In the second half of the game, you are given another perspective to the story, from Abby's point of view. You get to see the characters from flashbacks that are shown previously to all the events that occur in the 1st half of the game. All characters in this game are thrown in the game for some sort of companionship more so than the relationship that you got in the first game. People come in the game and die not that long after with no real emotion from the character that you play. Two characters which I think that Naughty Dog got somewhat right is Yara and Lev, the two scars which are being hunted down from their own cult for breaking the laws. Unlike most of the other characters, you are given some backstory from both of them as you progress through the game which is welcoming at first, but just like everyone else in the game they don't last, so Yara is killed eventually in a horrific way. As you enter the final hours of the game, you kind of think to yourself was this even worth it. Close to finishing the game, you play as Ellie hunting down Abby for what she did as she still has those awful nightmares relating to Joel's death. Just before you get to kill Abby on that beach, Ellie changes her mind and tells Abby to leave. You then go back to the house which you lived in after Day 3 in Seattle and you reminiscence of the events that occurred before Joel's death. You end up on a note which is quite awkward and pointless. You just played 25 hours of a game which constantly spat at your face for the sake of violence. Violence wasn't a thing which bothered me, but it happened way too often for some sort of emotional impact. The characters in this game came in and left pretty quickly. The story is nothing like the first, where you spent time with the main cast and grown to love them pretty quickly. A sequel wasn't necessary but if it would have happened, people would be happy and excited as they got to spend more time with the main characters. This game is nothing but disappointing throughout the 25 hours which you get to play, with gameplay same to the first's which isn't something terrible but would have expected something fresh and new to the formula. If I was to rate this game based on its technical and visual aspects, it would get a 10 for graphics and visuals and 5 for gameplay. I think the game had many things going for it, and I understand if they couldn't top the original but a better and effort would have been appreciated. A lot of people who hate on this game are usually criticised for being either a homophobe or sexist for the pure fact that you ain't focusing on Joel, and I think that isn't the problem here. The fact that the characters you are spending time with are so emotionless and have no real character development from the start to the end of the story is really why people don't like this game. I bought this game without hearing any of the rumors that were floating around apparently. Started playing and just got tired of being beat over the head with the wokeness. After hours of being wokedified it tries to have a story only to destroy key aspects of past characters. 3 hours in I just quit. Anyone wanna buy it real cheap. No, for real. Like Anthem cheap.

The graphics look good and the combat is still nice but that's it, that's the good point. Ellie and Dina are cute too.
The story is a joke. They spit on the face of every fan of the first game. Joel's death is whack. He wouldn't say his name to strangers like that when he knows some people out there want him dead. Abby is a **** character as in she is badly written. The game is a big boring walking simulator for the most part. They make you play as Abby way too much especially after she kills Joel which is dumb since you don't want to play as her and when you face Ellie you just want to die. The ending is absolute **** Joel basically died for no reason and Abby gets to walk free and Ellie is all alone in the end. I'm giving it a 1 instead of the 4 I originally intended to give because no game as ever made me this angry for all the wrong reasons.

If you think this game deserves anything close to a 9 or 10, but have not yet beaten it, you really need to do that first. The first half of the game is incredible, but it takes a nosedive after Seattle Day 3. You'll know exactly what I mean when/if you get there. If you have gone through it all and still think it's a masterpiece, then that's great. Congrats on having your perfect sequel, and for being part of the 3% of players that have the "completed the game" trophy. Anyway, onto my review.

Throughout the first half of the game, Ellie is hunting certain named NPCs. You either find them dead or kill them yourself, all in pursuit of a High Value Target. There are some incredible parts here. For example, Seattle Day 1 has an incredible free-roam section, and there are flashbacks to Joel and Ellie that really make you see where the 10/10s come from.

The second half, though, tries to humanize those already-dead named NPCs via an obscene amount of flashbacks. It tries to make you feel bad that they're now dead, whether it was by your hands or not. This falls flat, though, because not only are they 6 hours too late to try to get you to feel for these people, but the reasons you're hunting them in the first place are very good ones, that most players will agree with.

In the end, the High Value Target gets to walk away, because the game assumes by now that you feel bad for doing what you did. It doesn't matter that you were *forced* to do it by the game, it's your fault.

If this was any other game, it'd be maybe a 7 or 8, but it's The Last of Us Part II. They completely **** over beloved characters to make this mediocre plot with a cliche message happen.

The gameplay is fun, the character-on-character dialogue is great, the graphics look great, the RPG mechanics are well-fleshed-out, but the overall plot is so unforgivably bad to me that it kills the whole game, because the reason I consider The Last of Us to be one of the best games of all time is due to it's plot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While the last of us 2 has amazing graphics it fails to tell a great story. I did pre order this game and I ended up getting this game a day before it was released in the mail. My excitement was short lived. It was an extremely disappointing experience after finishing the game. It was hard to even on after the first 2 hours of playing. It's a far cry from the first game. The first game was not only visually stimulating but also gameplay was amazing and you fell in love with the story. There was so much development with the characters Ellie and Joel. It told a story that you invest yourself into. The last of us 2 did nothing of the sort. The character building was sadly missing. Where you thought that you would be able to play both characters that you so loved from the first one we were all sadly scammed. That's right, I said scammed into thinking we would get to explore Joel and Elle's relationship as they got older together. What they did to Joel was Savage. We all know that main characters die all the time but normally not in such an unsatisfactory way. It was like a f-you Joel you deserve an ugly death. It wasn't the fact that he died but the fact of how they did it. Abby's an extremely unlikable character. The game fails in making her relatable or likable. It forces you to play her after she has already clearly been designated as the villain in this story. It was basically torture having a play Abby through half of the game. You think eventually that she'll have some redeeming quality but it never happens. This game could have been amazing, it could have been great, it could have been epic but now it's just an epic fail. Granted if you hadn't had played the first game and grown to love Joel and Elle and how they are together, this one wouldn't be that bad of a game. It's still not that good of a standalone game though. I waited for this game for a long time and it was definitely disappointing. If I could get my money back I would. Naughty Dog has definitely betrayed their fans. Expand

Gameplay is mostly the same with some minor and arbitrary differences. The story is substantially worse, the writing is exceptionally more mundane and cliche than the first. The overarching theme being "revenge bad". That could have worked if it built the characters up at all, but mostly the new cast is either forgettable or so poorly written that you just don't care about them. As for the visuals, they were fantastic. I will give the game that it has some of the best visuals and ambiance I've seen in years. It was disappointing as I really wanted to like the game, especially considering how much I enjoyed the first game. Otherwise the plot and pacing is erratic. There are numerous flashbacks throughout the game that although they are quite enjoyable would have been much better placed in different parts of the game. I would explain more, but I'm trying to keep this review spoiler free. I think its ridiculous that anyone is saying the game is bad simply because Ellie is in a relationship with Dina. There's no reason that should detract from the game or story. Although I will say that Dina's character was quite boring in my opinion, like many other characters from the game. It seems like they could have done a lot more with many of the characters, main and supporting. They just simply didn't play a large enough role in the plot or really express themselves much. Especially considering that Naughty Dog has shown they know how to write good characters and character development in prior games. All in all it is a lackluster game when compared to The Last of Us 1. If we are not comparing the two at all, although it would still be lackluster it is not really a bad game. It's just much worse in comparison to its predecessor. I did like some new parts of the gameplay such as the increase in skills able to unlock with medicine and some of the new ways to use terrain. However, neither really adds that much to the game. Realistically I would rate the game a 2.5. It's an alright game, but again it is just to lacking in comparison to the first game. Regardless, I still think Naughty Dog makes good games, I just feel like they severely missed the mark on this one. Worse being that it was on such a beloved IP. Expand

Gameplay is also just improved in every way from the first game. Literally can't emphasize that enough! If all you care about is gameplay and graphics BUY THIS GAME! Hell I'd even say rent it if possible. I unfortunately do love story and will honestly play very bad games if the story is interesting enough to me. Story matters more to me than gameplay and especially now more than ever. I want a world that can take my mind off of our horrible world we live in. This game succeeds in that regard for the first half of the game, then you are violently pulled out of this immersive world shoved against a wall and beaten and told to love and sympathize with a character you hate. Not only that but you get to spend the next 10-15 hours playing as her. This is where the game is ruined for me I can't stress enough how awful the game gets after the first half.

The best way I can describe this feeling I have is I feel the same way now as I did after watching star wars the last jedi(or after playing KH3). It feels like Naughty dog just wanted to SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS and that's all they cared about. They didnt wanna give us those powerful feelings from the first game they wanted to give us something divisive. They wanted us to argue over this game and be mixed about it. They lied to us in the trailer specifically to trick us. I know they wanted this because the sections of the game where ellie is with Joel (the birthday for example) are literally the best and most heartfelt moments. They made me feel like I was playing a master class of game but then they slam you back to the world of this game almost like a cruel tease. I'll be honest I'm sad Joel died I hated it, I honestly was one of the people who thought his choice at the end of the last of us was wrong and selfish and even figured he'd die because of it. I didnt want him to though....and definitely not the way he did. But again I actually support his death in some way he was kind of meant to die this game it made sense and the anger I felt was so real it gave me goosebumps and I knew I wanted to destroy all the people involved with it. But then ya don't you brutally beat one girl from the group to death (a minor character from the group I might add)and the rest of their death's are just self defense usually and it's over quickly. Then when you finally get to Abby and it's time to make that jerk pay....Abby kills your friend maims Tommy and kicks your ass.....BUT WAIT we get to go after her I shouldve known Ellie is a bad ass and is gonna make this ***** pay for everything we're gonna get the vengeance for Joel's death......oh wait no Ellie gets her fingers bitten off by Abby and then let's Abby go because she suddenly doesn't want revenge anymore......oh and Ellie can never play guitar again the one connection she still had with Joel, Abby took that too. Cool.....I guess....so Ellie loses everything and that's the story.....great but hey at least she sacrificed everything......and then.....still didn't get....vengeance.....yep.

This series is now honestly dead to me I miss young Ellie and Joel's adventures. Maybe that's the point of this game is that's where it should've ended but because of Joel's actions he's caused Ellie (and us) and the world more suffering because he couldn't let go and just cherish the time he did spend with her. Idk but I guess I'm just disappointed with the game because I feel let down. If you disagree with me I'm happy for you and respect your opinion I wish you the best and hope you found this review helpful. Best of luck my friends

The thing that is really making me butt hurt about the whole thing is the lies Naughty Dog and Druckman have told, in order to sell the game. Doing a model swap with characters to add Joel into the game even well after he's no longer in the game. Druckman even said in an interview that Ellie was DEFINITELY the only playable character.

Which leads me to Abby, why? is my first question. What was the point of having to control her for over half the game. For myself and probably 90% of the fans out there, the last of us is Joel and Ellie. It never needed a sequel but if it was getting one it better be about those two is what everyone has said. I forced myself to play through the Abby bits as quick as I could, no collectibles, no upgrades to weapons or stats nothing as I wanted to get back to Ellie.
The game has been touted as being about the circle of violence and revenge and how its bad. But Abby gets everything she wants in the game while Ellie......

You know what I just can't do it anymore, if your looking to buy this game and you love the first one, please for the love of god, pretend this doesn't exist and theres only one game, go play the last of us remastered then imagine a sequel in your mind, it will be better than this tripe.

Not only did they kill Joel early in the game, but they also forced us to play Abby (his killer) for half the game and also forcing us to like this hated character with an absolutely retarded and meaningless backstory but also killing Jessie (an unimportant side-character), Tommy (He doesn't actually die but we think he does at first), badly wounding Dina (another side-character that has no meaning) and beating up Ellie in combat. After that Abby gets enslaved by a random slavers-trib, Ellie tracks her down, frees her first, then fighting against her in combat, almost drowning her (Ellie also looses 2 fingers) only to just let her go afterward. What the Game of Thrones Season 8 **** is this???.

In the end Ellie ends up alone, unable to play guitar, and wanders off into the wilderness. I can't describe in words how utterly disappointed I am in a game that "could" have become one of the best games ever made. The only reason for the 3 points is the graphics (which are astonishing) and the gameplay which is fun but only as Ellie. (still feels like the same as from 2013).

If you want to play a game that feels like the last of us, It's worth buying but if you came for the story. You'd be better off watching season 8 of Game of Thrones than with this ****

It doesn't even 'THE LAST OF US 2', It's 'part. 2'.
So it is obvious to expect some vibe from the first piece.
But I can't see any of it.
It's not about 'What's right', It's about 'Arrogance of director'.

We did not explain her as a character, she does not care about everything that happens in her environment. At the end of the third day in Seattle, when we start to play for pumped the woman to which we have aversion for the murder of Joel,as planned by the writers,we had to get used to her,to love her,but I don't know what a jelly head of the Drukman, instead of empathy,I have more disgust for this character. As for the ending, they could give the players a choice:to spare Abby, or to take revenge, but what happened is what happened, and I'm not happy about it.I won't say much about the promotion of LGBT minorities, but Naughty Dog tried to lick everyone. The game features a dark-skinned lesbian girl who leads a personal life, and later raises her child with Ellie from an Asian Jesse. As for Abby, who yesterday squeezed 85kg at 15-16 years old, it's all very bad.Despite the fact that it looks like he used steroids with the whole post-apocalyptic America,it's just empty, which during the game betrays his community, for the transgender and girls who saved her life.As a result, what we have:the developers decided to adapt to the LGBT minority, but not to those who will play this game, hence the rating completely fair..Evaluation of the player who just passed, i.e. me: Technical plan and game design:910.Game script: 210. Graphics: Great
    Gameplay: Good
    Plot and Storyline: Bad
Having all the good graphics and gameplay doesnt justify the bad and poor plot and storyline. This would be great for Nintendo Nes where players were looking for entertainment only

the writing is awful, the visuals are okay but that's what you're SUPPOSED to do so it's not really anything to reward them over the gameplay and mechanics have very little changes, some of the mechanics are outright useless but its not something really amazing. the only part of this game truly new and something to talk about is the animations, but seeing as

i liked the game for its graphics and motion design but it's still not revolution if i will compare it with the previous part. The plot is extremely weak.I guess it was ruined by liberal ideas at some point. It is more like a hidden propahanda at gameplay part..This is an obvious opression of some froup of people in a game.Unfortunatelly bad result for naughty dog.

In my opinion it is just a big SJW political statement that they put in this game like the gamers who loved the first game going completelly blind on this **** story. Women good / Men bad etc.. >Joel foolishly believed he could trust outsiders when he was NEVER like that to begin with.
    >Kill off Joel without him saying much to Abby, and no lastwords to Ellie.
    >Force us to play Abby, the one who took Ellie's father Joel away from her.
    >You changed Ellie's looks... to where she's unrecognizable in some aspects compared tothe first game.
    >Made the game way too easy.
    >While you managed to make the world feel somewhat immersive, you still made it feel super empty.
    >The Seraphites were a knockoff of Eden's Gate from Far Cry New Dawn.
    >Gave us a bittersweet first ending where Ellie settles down with Dinah but it still felt lonely, then made everything go go **** with PTSD.
    >Made a tortured Ellie travel a far far way to kill Abby, BUT ONLY TO SPARE THE ENEMY. There was NO reason to let all of those killings be in vain. The real Ellie believed that it couldn't be for nothing. Nobody would have hunted down Ellie or anyone else if Abby was killed. Joel was literally just saving his daughter from being murdered, and then he had to pay with his life. Ellie lost her father with the last memories of him being beaten to death, into a bloody pulp. So she let's the one that caused her so much pain and agony go, unjustified mercy. Abby got so many people on both sides killed. So Abby also takes Ellie's two fingers from her. Who thought this was a good idea?
    >after all that, Dina leaves her. You killed Joel, but you turned Ellie's lide into HELL.
I knowhow the review system works for the most part, but I doubt the official reviews were genuine in any way, shape, or form. Anything bellow a 5 is pretty much negative. So this 2 was well deserved. The idea you were still able to get 5 and up is disgusting. The only thing good about this game was the strong attention to physical detail, but that's really it. This was one of the greatest disappointments for me. I over looked the PC stuff that even I'm personally opposed to, only to find out it really doesn't matter because either way, this was one of the largest media failures in a long while. Now ND can't even take the criticism and try to do right by people. May they go bankrupt. I've signed the petition to urge Sony to rework TLOU Part 2's story. Maybe they can replace Druckmann with somebody worthy of giving the Last of Us the sequel it actually deserves.

I tried all night when I was finished, to think of another game that made me feel bad instead of good when finished, I couldn't.
A game is suppose to make you feel good and escape reality. Not bring politics and PC into it.
I don't even want to give it one red bar.

Controls are pretty fantastic. Gameplay is sooooo good.
Story kind of sucks. I hate romance in action/zombie game. I hated it in the walking dead. I hate it in the Last of Us 2. Just make a game about people fighting zombies. Do you know why they didn’t put zombies in the Notebook? Because it would have been a dumpster fire.

Terrible narrative, storytelling, poor quality of joel's death we didn't even get to play as him, we didn't get to play as Tommy and we were forced to play for 8 **** hours as Abby a dislikable character who just killed the main character with a golf stick in order to understand her actions and feel sympathy for her while I don't give a **** about her and not only that but the ending is even worse while she fought her when she has lost muscle had no energy and she even removed 2 fingers of Ellie and basically losing everything while Abby got away with the kid.
The whole game was just to give the message that with vengeance won't solve everything and will hurt everyone surround you what a joke

Graphics were slightly better than the first game that came out 7 years ago so that's good. Story was probably the worst thing I've ever experienced and I've watched Game of Thrones in it's entirety. The characters

Where was the writing in this game where is the story ? It seems the writers couldn't write so they choose to take the easy way out and go for cheap kill the best character (Joel) in the game thrill. Then to add insult to injury they force you play as the character (Abby) who killed Joel. Killing Joel was pointless and sad and mostly unnecessary. I think the people at Naughty Dog fogot the last of us is a story driven game no matter what else happens the game must have a good story and this game has no story it jump from here to there on a whim with no reason for why. It seems like Naughty dog decided to take every staffers idea and thrown them and in the pot with no genuine writing or thought. Unfortunately what Naughty dog cooked up this time stinks! Expand

It' has superb graphic, animation, music and acting. Some great scenes capturing and film quality of cut scenes.

Yet. It fails like game and story for me. And like story driven game, the ways of telling this mess of a story and manipulate the filliings of the players to the new characters is so... blatand and bad, that I feel this is the worst game from ND in this regard. And for me -

And like story driven game, the ways of telling this mess of a story and manipulate the filliings of the players to the new characters is so... blatand and bad, that I feel this is the worst game from ND in this regard. And for me - this is a crime for the great build up characters and story in the previous game.

And I can't more dissagrie with this madness of 10/10 reviews. Game with so badly telled story (specially for story driven game) can't be really 10/10. If you damn like it - cool for you, but seeing no flaws is blindness.

Last - there is very offending way of swaying the players perspective, hiding and missleading moments in the cutscenes... just to push some agenda of the narative.
Famose for me - is the pregnancy of Mel - which is absolutly no visible when they capture Joel and is like in the sevent month when was killed (not to mention the madness of woman in such pregnancy level to go on a combat mission AND shoot, jump, hide and sprint)...

Also the main message of the game is quite contradicting with what the director was speaking for the game. In any way - I don't agree on personal level - because what you can take from the game is... Revenge is -- Good. And I don't think should be that way.
Abby is the quintessense of this. She finish her revenge plot, redeem for her crime and live happy ever after... No burden or else.
Yes, it send Ellie on her dark and grim quest, but not achieving revenge - make Ellies life missarable - and not compleating her cicle actually was looking way worse...

Ok. I finish here, because I can write and write with hours on any moment of the story in this game that is so so bad...

    (sigh) So dissapointed

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
