New developers and writers simply kill off and re-write characters from the first game and replace them with their own new cast. No love or attention is paid at all to the story of the first game. some of these negative reviews are hateful/homophobic, but I really regret giving them $60 dollars for this, it is worse than I could have imagined.

    Joel acts completely out of character and dies in such an anticlimactic way, then you play as his killer for 8 hours. Even finding out why she did it doesn't help, she's such an obnoxious, poorly written character.     I loved the first game could not stop playing through it. Loved the relationship between Ellie and Joel. I had a daughter between the first and last game and was excited to play this second one. When all of the controversy started I was kind of shocked but I already had a pre-order paid off and replayed the first one in anticipation.     The main character does not cause anything but disgust right from the first minutes. At the very beginning, a huge plot hole. The gameplay has not changed much from the first part. Stealth is terrible. The game is not that it is not revolutionary; it did not do anything surprising even for this generation. Hype is not justified.

    The only pros to this game are the average feeling stealth and shooting gameplay mechanics. And even those are laughable. For example, you can go prone in the middle of a firefight and the enemies are too stupid to react to it and be able to see you.

    The graphics are probably the best part of this game. The world design and graphics are phenomenal!

    The sound design is also fantastic!

    Overall... This game is essentially a polished piece of you know what... I give this game a 2/10. A video game has to be more than just looking and sounding pretty. A video game is a piece of art and is there to immerse you into a world and make believable and memorable characters and stories and...     This has to be the wokest agenda based game ive ever seen and makes me concerned for games in the future.
    Naughty dog games would usually be a day 1 buy for me but now i will think twice, bitterly disappointed.

TLOU 2 is waste of time to invest in, and should be viewed as non canon fan fiction, along with Game of thrones S8 and the The last jedi.

    I was a huge TLoU fan and was extremely excited for this one, but they've seriously dropped the ball here.

    The gameplay feels very dated, the story is laughably bad, and they have fixed the reviews to try and sell to uninformed people. This is a hard no from me, and if I could give it negative points, I would.

    Historywise is a complete failure, not even at the shadow of the masterpiece of the original game. Dull characters that you could replace with anybody else; the original cast seem like a bunch of bad made AU characters made in a fanfiction and don't even made me talk about the horrible ending with the typical and cliché "violence bad, revenge bad" with Ellie just completely pardoning a literal murderer of not only his paternal figure but countless innocent people; makes absolutely zero sense, and makes the player feel like he wasted his time and money, (Which is clearly what happened) and leaving him a very bad taste. Now, the famous SJW agenda is in this game. It's clearly plot Armour and centerism in Abby and that DISGUSTING sexual scene (God, that's just awful, considering that one of the characters is literally modeled after Neil) makes this game seem like a spit on the fans and Neil making a game for himself.

    Game play wise, it seems like it's just the same as the original, just better animation and graphics with less puzzles and more action. (Doesn't seems like a great improvement in my opinion.)

    Conclusion: Awful made sequel that is so bad, it's better as a fanfiction history and a golf game than a properly made AAA game, lol.

In conclusion the cut scene at the end pretty much describes something that could have been thrown in at the end of the first game and maybe made sense but in the context of this game just describes how much better we would have felt if they had just left it alone.… Expand

    This game is trash. This game by far is the literal definition of getting J E B A I T E D. Play something else and don't waste your time. It's kinda like TLOU 1 being the original star wars and TLOU 2 being the newer movies ( episodes 8,9)

There is no sense of love from this game it feels awful to play, both in mechanics and narratively.     It is no coincidence that many of the fans themselves have a negative reaction to this second part. In my humble opinion, I think the script was too ambitious and it went very wrong.
    This saga was positioned where it is because it had a heart, but now they completely destroy our emotional bond with the flagship characters of the first installment.

    The Last of Us Part II is while not the worst sequel. but for a flagship title is a disappointment.     I can't score this game below a 2 because it is absolutely beautiful and the game play itself is fun and at times rewarding. With that said the game (in my opinion) faults hard on its story and treatment of characters I've fallen in love with in the first game. To me this game feels more like someone's odd fanfiction instead of a sequal to one of the best games ever made.

Sadly as hell with this game, the way that the story went, and literally you go from village to village and it's always the same thing, you get to the village, you kill people or zombies, you search the houses, and you go to another village. The zombies found protein shakes, they are agile, strong, and weird. Are all zombies sons of The Rock? Oh and the zombies they have an incredible eyesight. I don't care about Ellie being gay, I don't care that Abby looks like it eats 5kg of whey every single day, but Joel? Seriously? We loved him, that not the way, for a guy like him to go. I only played until Seattle day 2 and I can't continue always the same thing over and over. Btw where's the soundtrack?… Expand

    I genuinely cannot believe I wasted my time on this game. To have such a masterpiece in TLOU 1 to be ruined by such horrible storytelling in this sequel is worse than my parents getting divorced as a child. Abby is the most UNLIKEABLE character... every time I had to play as her I wanted to turn off the game. Ellie and Joel deserved better. What a waste.

Like with all the back story you gave abby I could of forgiven it if she had just shot Joel dead but she beats him to death slowly .... if someone you love was beaten to death slow would you sympathise with the murderer too?     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So lets start with the positives. First of all this game is beautiful. The graphics and lighting are gorgeous, as are the character designs. Some of the levels are stunningly atmospheric and make the game play so tense and immersive. The soundtrack was also great. The signature Last of Us music and sound design adds another level to the very haunting, heartbreaking and terrifying aspect of this game.
    But, and this is a big but, my experience was spoilt by a poorly written and executed story line that if edited and reordered, could have made this game almost perfect. Having Joel's brutal death so early into the game and to then be forced to play as his killers character was beyond frustrating. With no sense of how long this section would be I rushed through most of it until it dawned on me that this was going to be a very long slog. I tried really hard to put my frustrations aside and enjoy the experience but Abby's very long, cringey, back and forth, pointless story line focusing on characters that you already know are dead was incredibly boring. If we had been introduced to Abby's character at the beginning, with much shorter playable sections of her and her friends, intertwining and crossing paths with much longer sections of game play with Joel and Ellie, leading to either a final fight at Jackson or a cliffhanger that Abby, upon crossing paths with Ellie throughout the game, had discovered the location of Joel (the scene in the snow where Owen and Abby are looking out over Jackson would have made a great ending cliff hanger), at least the player could have grown and even empathised with Abby's character throughout the game. It felt like i had jumped from the first to a third game, not that I was playing a second game. If Joel's death were placed at the end of the game, this could have paved the way for the third dark and brutal, Seattle based revenge story that this game was with Ellie torn between seeking revenge or sacrificing her life for the cure.
    The first Last of Us was fantastic, almost perfect and this was such a crappy way to follow on from that beautiful story. The Last of us 2 has pissed all over what what so wonderfully achieved in the first. I am so envious of the players that came away with a positive experience after playing this game, I really am. I wanted so much to love this game but for me, a very poorly ordered and executed story line has ruined what could have been a truly amazing gaming experience.    … Expand
