    ill start with what I liked, amazing graphics, better combat than the first game and great acting. story was complete dog **** I could easily tell what part of the game was forced ( the whole thing) and didn't make sense as a story. They need to stop pushing that weird homo agenda and stick to making normal, good games

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game play was easily the best part. I enjoy the world created by the developers for this series. The graphics are outstanding. This will be a spoiler review for major plot points in the story. For a story driven game the story didn't do it for me. In order to hit the beats they were going for, they had to have characters acting uncharacteristically. For me, this was a dealbreaker. The game stops half way through and switches perspective making you play the last 3 days again as a different character with no connection to the previous 3 days gameplay. This truly kills the pacing of the game. Abby is somewhat glorified in this game too. We're told that her dad was a good person when, in TLOU1, he was willing to murder an unconscious child for the slim hope they could create a vaccine which, looking at the world created, would do very little to solve the problems of that world. The faction wars would still exist, clickers would still rip people's faces off and blotters would still be around. It would solve the issue of spores and bites but since gas masks already deal with the issue of spores, a vaccine wouldn't do much for the world. But Abby's dad saved a zebra, doesn't that make him a good person .... oh look Abby plays fetch with a dog that you are forced to kill, isn't Abby great and Ellie wrong here for killing this poor dog. The narrative of the game basically says that violence begets violence and the cycle of revenge never ends. Interesting premise, but Abby gets her revenge and gets to walk away. Ellie, on the other hand, loses Joel as he's murdered in front of her despite her pleas for his life. Loses Jesse, loses Dina and the baby and ends the game 2 fingers down and unable to play the guitar. Abby literally severed her last connection to Joel and Ellie let's her live. Even when she has her underwater, seconds away from drowning, she has a flashback of Joel and suddenly decides, hey I know I've travelled all the way to find you in different states twice now and even though you threatened to murder my pregnant girlfriend even after finding out she was pregnant and you killed my surrogate father and bit of 2 fingers and I've killed tens of people making my way to you I'll just let you go now. Given what Ellie has done and what has happened to her to get to this point, it's very jarring to just stop there, quite literally seconds away from completing her goal.

    This game suffers in the same way that a lot of movies these days suffer. They value theme over execution of the story. They have plot points they want to hit and they'll hit them no matter what the consequences are for characterisation. I think this story could have been done better. I'm sure of it. Thats the purpose of the writers. To make it fit in with how characters have been established and to make decisions seem logical. They didn't do it with this narrative.    … Expand

    The game keeps bringing up unnecessary flashbacks that nobody cares about which was so annoying, this game is an indirect slap in the face, how can a prequel differ so much from it’s sequel? They literally took out the most important character at the beginning of part II. What is wrong with the game developers, did they drink too much? I’ve literally overhyped 7 years for a game and then we get this! Naughty Dog completely wasted their time developing this pit-like game! A lot of fans are angry with Naughty dog for this crap!     Great graphics, great gameplay. Story wasn’t the best, as a lot was lacking in the sense of some characters development. Bought this game upon release now never picked it up again after the first play through. Not even worth selling as it’s now going on eBay brand new and sealed for 7 quid. On the plus side it does make a good coaster

    I finally played through this game after going through my library of games that I own but either never finished or never invested much time. Firstly, I really cannot understand how this game won the game of the year. It's really not that good. Maybe it was a weak year for games. After playing this game, I know why so many people hate it, and they have every right to hate it. There's no way this game should be rated at a 9 or 10 as many review sites gave it.… Expand

    It is bizarre how a series goes from one the best games of all time to a sequel that is among the worst of all time. Awful writing. Violence for the sake of violence. Bad pacing. Repetitive. A plot-twist that a monkey would laugh how they thought of it. It is so unrealistic that believing aliens is more sane than thinking that plot would actually ever be believable.

    Another moment when not talented but brainwashed people took some piece of art and absolutely destroyed it, I can only be sorry for anyone who enjoys this story plot and political messaging in games.

    Primeiro o Joel e tommy burros pq ele saem pra patrula pra certificar que não há intrusos ou infectados demais na area e quando escapam com a Abby e vão pra uma casa que eles sabiam que nao tinha ninguem antes e agora tem um grupo lá, a primeira coisa a pensar que eles são intrusos que acamparam em volta da cidade pra atacar, não ele entra e começa a falar tudo onde mora onde fica e o nome... cara muito escroto

    Falta de lógica pro mundo que eles mesmos criaram..... por exemplo a parte da fazenda muito mal protegida sem recurso nenhum num mundo ainda pós apocalíptico..
    Ele viviam em jacson que era uma fortaleza que dependiam de muitas pessoas cooperando pra sobreviver... uma usina hidrelétrica para ter luz, tinham que fazer rondas constantes porque mesmo assim era perigoso ter invasores e hordas de infectado.. a abby tbm vivia numa fortaleza altamente fortificada que tinham problemas com humanos e infectafos.. os serafitas vivinham numa ilha que uma é uma fortaleza natural... pra Elie viver tranquila numa fazenda com uma cerquinha que qualquer carro derrubava ou um grupo de inectados ja ia apresentar perigo so pra mostrar uma familia feliz com duas mães, é jogar toda lógica e sentido da obra no lixo pra lacrar

    De tantos motivos que o serafiras estavam matando varios do próprio do povo por bitolagem religiosa... tinha que o motivo que o Lev estava sendo caçado era pq era trans e ainda mostra a mãe conservadora como ruim e preconceituosa a ponto de quase matar a propria filha... é enfiar a visão politica demais na estória sem necessidade....

    No jogo relações heteros não são muito mostrada e são sempre disfuncionais até o irmao do Joel que era casado teve que citar que se separou... unico romance realmente apaixonada é o da Ellie pq é homosexual os outros são todos frios...

    Abby ter um corpo de fisuculturista em três anos, num mundo onde comida e suplemento de hipertrofia muscular é coisa difícil se é que existe, pq pelo que entendi eles comiam no refeitório oque tinha e era bem controlado..é muito fora da proposta do jogo que era mais pé no chão e realista tanto que no primeiro não tem nem homem nem mulher maromba, só pra fazer uma versão do Joel do primeiro jogo em questão de gameplay com skin de mulher tanto que o jeito de lutar é parecido e algumas execuções são iguais, até as facas quebráveis ela tbm têm....

    Acredito com a mudança de alguns diretores do primeiro pro segundo jogo deu essa diferença e e essa decaida no roteiro e indo mais pra lacração sendo que no primeiro isso é bem equilibrado... no primeiro jogo a estória e bem mais direta e coesa e bem i pactante e um final bem ambíguo e bem inesquecível, mais ptofundo até a menssagem que alguns concordam e outros não, mas nesse segundo faz um vai e vem um chove não molha só pra dizer que " a vingança nunca é plena mata a alma e envenena "

    Questão de gráfico e realmente muito bom detalhes faciais durante a gameplay sao impressionantes Mas se torna repetitivo tanto que vc faz quase a mesma coisa desde o primeiro jogo, só algumas partes de ação bem legais e tensas com a abby... mas perto do final com a allie eu tava mais correndo e querendo passar logo só pq não aguentava mais enfretar as áreas de humanos me procurando, que alias não mudou nada desde do começo do jogo....

    Achei ruim pq ficou muito claro o posicionamento político do diretor, ai a estória fica muito artificial e em algumas partes sendo só uma desculpa pra por essas pautas ideológicas deixando a história menos orgânica e menos crível.
    No final o sentido da história de vingança, redenção e perda fica meio estragado no meio dessas visões políticas e ideológicas...    … Expand

    The rest is just a mix of lazy game design, woke cancer, and horrible writing. You play as one of two terrible people doing terrible things, there's a trans kid because the writer is a groomer, and the Abby character is by all means a man they threw a woman's head on last second. The gameplay is interrupted by forced route finding because everything straight forward is conveniently broken, fails, or locked. The gameplay mostly requires constantly killing everyone you see with guns handicapped by the futile weaponry an average Los Angeles urbanite thinks is real. Artificially low magazine capacity, weak cartridges, double barrels and revolvers galore. It's based in the US but may as well be Britain with how sparse the guns and ammo are.

    I honestly hate this game because it's yet another competent-looking product that exists to push more degenerate subjects like homosexuals, transgenderism, adultry, murder, and pointless secular existence.    … Expand

    You can take a few good things from this game, but the beginning sucks and so does the ending. It's not like I just wish I hadn't played, I wish this game had never been released.

    I hope Part III comes out so we can at least get a good ending for Ellie.

All that after spending first half of the game trying to find her and get the revenge. Then at the end forgive her because **** it, why not. She bashed his skull in in a goo after slow torture. Not to save anyone but just doing it for her twisted sake. We killed all these wlf people to get to her but **** it, forgiveness is woke and Abby deserves it. Total **** Heartbroken, disappointed. Could write an essay on all things wrong in this game and they all are about the story. Can’t believe someone actually wrote this story… Expand

Unfortunantly it was a terrible experience to play. Killing off Joel very early on in the game and making us play as the scum who killed him was one of the worst game designs I have ever seen. By the end of the game they wanted us to not want Ellie to kill Abby. Instead I was rooting for Ellie to kill Abby because her character development was terrible. All in all this game was a huge dissapointment and I don't recommend you buy it.… Expand

Tries too hard to be original by putting you into the shoes of the antagonist; most players hate the antagonist, has a story that has as much grace as a piece of chewing gum stuck under your shoe. The biggest fumble in the history of gaming sequels. Audiences overwhelmingly agree. The story was just god awful. No one sympathized with Abby and we were forced to play her for 10+ hours. Such a disappointment. How the professional critics saw this as a good good, only leads us to believe they were paid off or received some type of perk. The writing is just undefendable.

    Obviously the show wasn't as good as the game (Part 1), so we can only hope season two strays far away from the plot of episode 2.    … Expand

    Brilliant world. Brilliant gun mechanics. All in all what you’d expect from naughty dog. Absolutely abysmal storyline, a shell of a game compared to its predecessor. I will never ever forgive naughty dog for butchering one of the greatest gaming franchise character’s of all time just conform with Woke societal crap Shame on you naughty dog. Shame on you.     The game is so boring and they made the characters look weird or ugly. Abby is an abomination and must be on steroids and they kill the loved main character off in a trash way. Nobody likes that. If you like the game and the way it is play it.

All the new characters were boring and I couldn’t care less about any of them. All the female characters look like **** purposely created to be unattractive. The gameplay barely improved and you’re forced to fight more which is one of the weakest parts of the game as I play largely for the story. Unfortunately, the story is terribly written here as well. It’s basically someone’s angry fan fic. Let’s destroy everything we love from the first game and leave you with no feelings of satisfaction, that’s what gamers want!     The gameplay is great. They have really evolved since the first installment. To bad they force feed you woke-cookies throughout the run. It’s so extreme that it ruins the game completely. I want a good story, I don’t need to be lectured by a game. Can’t recommend to anyone I’m afraid.

And it's ND who kills Joel in the way he's killed, defenseless and disgraced. Why present us a character we have to play for about 6 hours as an ungrateful coward who draws pleasure from hurting others? And it makes absolutely no sense to let Ellie and Tommy live in that moment. ND just does because they're needed later to continue a bad story. And they do this again at the end to be able to use Abby in part 3 which I won't buy.
    It's ND who makes the player do all the violent things, because the player has no chance of playing the game other than ND wants them to. And then try to make the characters we love look bad for all the violence they've done? I felt nothing after Ellie killed the pregnant Mel. Why should I? The game gave me no chance to handle the situation differently. Jesus this story sucks. And a girl who likes dinosaurs ends up with a girlfriend called Dina - seriously?

    Basically my progress got bricked early into the game with a double bug combo: a lethal elevator rope and gap where the rest of the level should be once I got the rope bit right. I thought at least the perfectionist dev company was above selling broken games

    I have been reading/ watching/ playing zombie, dystopian and post-apocalyptic media for years and this is by far one of the weakest examples I have ever come across.

Even a revenge story where the main character loses everything. What I can’t get behind is a game full of unlikable characters. Killing Joel was a huge moment. Joel is a character loved by all and it brought out so many emotions. The whole entire second part of the game is spent playing as his killer. Did they take this time to make her likable and relatable? No. Did they take this time to add meaningful interactions with the rest of the cast? No. It was hours and hours of bad writing and bad pacing. The most enjoyable moments were when I killed so I could see the little cut scene where Abby died. The end was wack. Ellie throws away her whole family to not get revenge. Why did she do this? Because she had a vision of Joel on the porch playing guitar. This game was dumb and had terrible writing. The first half was so good. It just sucks that the second half was so atrociously bad it made me regret playing the game at all. One of my favorite games of all time is ruined because the sequel was so bad. Congratulations Naughty Dog. You tricked me into buying the most expensive edition and bait and switched out with the sorriest excuse of a story that you could’ve come up with. Rent this game if you have to play it. It’s terrible. Just play the original. That game at least had some heart and soul. Part 2 is just a waste of 20+ hours.… Expand

Favourite characters are reduced to one-dimensional hatred driven messes. Most newly introduced characters are equally if not more despised. The story is generic, full of nonsensical character decisions and so steeped in an atmosphere of cruelty and despair that it detracts from any enjoyment you may otherwise experience from the better aspects of the game. The narrative is a mess with some segments feeling detached and unnecessary while the moral absolutism of characters' motivations and actions are simply at odds with the themes of revenge the game wishes to paint in shades of grey. The gameplay is largely the same affair from the original with minor superfluous enhancements and less brain-dead "puzzles."

    I went in not expecting much, or about something on par with the original, but somehow came away with a newfound sense of disgust and disappointment. Thankfully, I got a full refund at my local game shop as the clerk was sympathetic to my and others' plight.    … Expand

    Great graphics, great acting. Mediocre follow-up to a masterpiece.

It destroyed all logic from the first part. ND wants a new game of throne ending? Now they have it.     Maybe. But with all the nice graphics and audio, they have spent a lot of money on elements that were important in a lot of games I have played, and those games just didn't age well. They have spent a lot of money on aesthetics that would be surpassed in next-generation, even at lower costs. Yet in the writing, I have seen some cheap tricks. When someone who will at other places enjoy hurting others (and acting like a psycho) just happily playing with dogs to build sympathy that is cheap and bad writing.

    Normally honest critics tend to spot such problems, but when they want to be on good terms of powerful publishers, they quickly forget how to spot that. Or they forget their integrity. If they would promise me a rather average game, with the somewhat badly written story and amazing graphics, I would feel satisfied and happy. But as both Sony and crooked reviewers promised a masterpiece it was a disappointment.

    Just before I would stop feeling disappointed, there was always some minor or not so minor issue that refreshed this bad feeling. And overall we don't buy or play games to feel disappointed by them.

    But as a gamer who enjoys subscription services like Origin Access or XBOX Game Pass that come with many games, I would say if they were honest about it and would promise a mediocre game, it wouldn't be much worse than a random game in the vault.

    It wouldn't be much worse than "fan favorite" games like FIFA 2020 from EA Sports. That game is also unpopular for some reasons, but in that cases, EA makes a game for their fans, players and know we want them to spend all the money and even more (from MTX) on having good models of players, venues, etc. and they spend a lot in the graphics department, and we have to accept the not so slightly outdated gameplay.

    The Last of Us 2 spent a lot of money on amazing graphics, really. Too bad that players who enjoy the franchise were attached to characters like Joel and mourn their loss. That anger combined with disappointment over the game is pretty loud on the Internet. I couldn't care less for Joel. Sony lost me when they had their rootkit issue, when they mishandled data breaches, when they betrayed the trust of customers repeatedly and acted all entitled about it. So there was no way for me to care about Joel. But it looks like Sony forgot the fact they should make their products for their customers.

    Why? Because they knew they can get away with it. People will buy The Last of Us 2, they will buy Playstation 5, and at the end of the PS5 era, they will buy a game that will be twice as bad as The Last of Us 2. In the end, they don't lose customers there, and they will be able to sell a few Bravia TVs to the "brave" leftish "social justice" warriors, whose bravery ends when they aren't protected from negative opinions by their mob mentality and their safe spaces.
