    The plot of the game is incredibly dumb, it consists of dozens of cliches that make you think that the script was written by an animal. Almost every plot twist is illogical and added only to make the game look like a “cool movie”.

    THIS IS A REAL REVIEW, I ACTUALLY FINISHED THE GAME.

    I see a lot of people review bombing this game without actually playing it and talking about only what the leak talked about, which was true btw. Graphics, they are about the same some details are fleshed out on the character but by the end of the game trees actually started to turn into brown logs with no texture. Sound, not    THIS IS A REAL REVIEW, I ACTUALLY FINISHED THE GAME.

    I see a lot of people review bombing this game without actually playing it and talking about only what the leak talked about, which was true btw.

    Graphics, they are about the same some details are fleshed out on the character but by the end of the game trees actually started to turn into brown logs with no texture.

    Sound, not bad I can hear everything pretty well but nothing pop out at me.

    Gameplay, This is where the game falls apart, besides the story. Biggest issue was the camera, it let you move it but shot you back to what the game wanted you to see. Example, I was trying to look at the sky at one point but the game decide to say, "Hey look at this wall you passed six times" and no there was no enemies on the other side. This becomes worse in combat when you dodge sometimes the camera swings to look at your face but now you cant see the opponent you're fighting.
    Besides that the play style is the same except for the shives they took that out so now Ellie can sneak attack all she wants. That is until you play as Abby(the new character) then new enemies show up that require a shive.

    Story, OK so, the leak is correct. Short Summary- Joel dies, new character joins(Abby), revenge, revenge, revenge. That's pretty mush it .
    but lets flush some of it out. Joel dies yes which kicks off the whole adventure of revenge. that's right about 20mins in and he's dead. Ellie sets off to get revenge on 6 people with her girlfriend, yes Ellie is a lesbian, no her girlfriend is not Abby. and about this time Abby shows up but now you can play her turns out Abby is apart of the crew that killed Joel, so you play as the protagonist and the antagonist. Ellie gets her revenge on all but one, Abby. Until the end then you start the game over but from Abby's point of view but she has flashbacks, every damn time you finish a part its a flashback or flash forward depending on how stupid they want it to be and its all about Abby getting revenge for her dead friends. Once Abby's side is over you finally get to see the ending but you have to fight Ellie as Abby, then Abby says **** it I'm giving you your life bye". So that's the end? Nope now Ellie goes hunting again after some time has past but this time you fight Abby as Ellie. All this just to have both Ellie and Abby give up on revenge and go their separate ways.
    Ellie loses her girlfriend because she couldn't stop sooner and Abby is now on the run from her group.

    Overall, the Graphics aren't much to hold up since they are PS3 graphics still. Sound was present but I could have put on any music and it would have been the same. Gameplay was a mess with the camera going everywhere except where I want it to go right now and at times the Controls felt too different, one button jumps, one button crouches, one button snaps the camera back forward and if you're like me hitting to many buttons to quickly you find your self thrown into a wall 10 ft away and you need to figure out where you are now while getting shot at or mauled by 2 clickers and 4 stalkers. Story everyone already knows I just don't know why had to add on 5 more hours of filler and then 3 hours of conclusion for the conclusion.

It was falsely marketed to hide the fact the story is not about Joel and Ellie, but a horrible torture porn revenge plot. Our old beloved characters are made into villans and brutally discarded along the way.

    The main theme of the game is "revenge is bad" but Abby gets her revenge and lives happily ever after?

There's a difference between art and propaganda, if I can gauge the entirety of the author's worldview by their work it is not a well developed piece, especially if the narrative falls within the archetypal sensibilities of an ideologue. I've gained nothing from this story, I could go to tumblr and read better fan fictions. It's just iconoclasm of the most vengeful sort, to kill a beloved character with indignity and no resolution to that, while having the villain escape scot free due to characteristics considered protected by the author. It's offensive to the human capacity to form stories.… Expand

    Both Abby and Ellie do not mature or get character development and they essentially remain the same towards end of the game. Player's spend hours seeing their character get revenge by killing key characters and innocent NPC's only to spare the main target at the very last second? It felt like we wasted our time and we were left with dread and disappointment. It doesn't make sense for the main character to just walk away from their objective at the last second despite the fact said character gave up the pursuit sometime earlier in the story.

    There are some characters in the game that do not supplement character development or show qualities that make us feel sympathetic towards them. Take for instance Jesse and Manny who are only there to provide some drama to the narrative without providing memorable personal traits.

    The flashbacks were also poorly executed. Those flashbacks should have been the first playable parts of the game and then switch over to the main plot. It would have made the game's ending even more impressionable instead of making us feel like all our efforts were basically for nothing. I honestly think Naughty Dog should have created two campaign modes for the game, one focused completely from Ellie's perspective and another on Abby's story. Upon completion of Ellie's story we will have the option to complete Abby's campaign instead of having us switch between these characters.

    Overall, I don't think this game is worth $59+ and I am disappointed with it. I think Naughty Dog should remake this game or at least learn their mistakes by the time they release Last of Us III.    … Expand

    Yep, graphic and setting of world is good 8/10. But the game is gaddy. They have been droved everything in a narrative part. Naughty Dog wanted to show the story from different angles, but got a very chaotic and unrealistic scenario, that has little to do with realistic behavior.

This franchise is ruined for me. Game play was very good and but the story was really bad. I don’t recommend this game. Still the last of us part 1 is the best.… Expand

    The game has non-innovative gameplay from the previous game. The story after around the first half of the game gets boring. There are too many useless and non-interesting characters. The enemy AI in the game is stupid and make the game look clunky. The strongest part of the first game (the strong characters and story) are gone. It has nice graphics and awesome attention to detail.

    If you are the type of person who needs to have homosexuality driven down your throat while trying to play a game you might enjoy this. Otherwise the controls are absolutely horrible, and the whole game is stuck in a track with no freedom whatsoever. You're just watching someone read a book. And the book is horrible.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It breaks my heart to write this but their is so much wrong with this game. 1. Repetitive gameplay - it’s just the same as the first, and it just ties in with the next point.

    2. The game drags on way too long - the gameplay is just fine, but the game is many hours too long and it feels like unnecessary padding, which really tests your patience.

    3. Makes experienced survivalists act dumb - Joel and Tommy have vast experience, know all the dangers, and even know Joel could be wanted because of what he did in TLOU1. Yet they give their names, relation, where they live, invite them over for tea and cupcakes, all to complete strangers who are all armed and outnumber them, in a closed off space.

    4. Joel is a beloved character and deserved better - Much like say Geralt, or Master Chief, or Lara Croft etc. They would deserve a good send off right? Yet the absolute butchering of Joel is a disservice of what he was to fans. He literally gets spat on by a **** lookalike after being golf clubbed to death until he’s mush. If you treat any beloved character this way, it’s a huge FU to any fan.

    5. They make you play as Joel’s killer for half or more of the game - Abby just isn’t likeable to me, her first moments are being saved by Joel, to then brutally annihilating him with a golf club in front of his surrogate daughter Ellie. Then later you play as her and they try and make you feel for her, implying she’s empathetic and so on. Yet she goes on this huge journey to find Joel, with the game trying to tell you she’s empathetic and nice. Yet when she reaches Joel, he saves her, but she wasn’t understanding there. And then she does what she does to him in front of Ellie despite not emphasising with why Joel did what he did, or how it will make Ellie feel. Therefore invalidating everything the game tried to tell us about nice she is, and why we should like her. You can’t say she’s nice and empathetic and then have her destroy someone with a golf club while making that person’s daughter watch. She was gonna kill pregnant Dina too, but Lev stopped her. Even if she was likeable, I don’t wanna play as the killer of a beloved character, and for half or more of the game at that.

    6. The plot is unoriginal and boring - Revenge plots have been done so many times, and done better. It’s not hard to realise violence leads to more violence. It’s you kill me, I kill you, the game. No more on Ellie’s immunity, zombies, or anything interesting.

    7. The ending - Ellie kills lots of people to reach Abby, who has killed Joel, Jesse and some others, but let’s her live. She found Abby tied up, so she cuts her down and let’s her walk to a boat, simply to attempt to kill her then. Why not just do it when she was tied up? Ridiculous. Then there’s the flashback of Joel that makes her spare Abby. Which had no words or sage advice, simply an image of Joel playing a guitar. To me, I’d think that would reignite Ellie’s anger and make her follow through with killing Abby, but no. Then she goes back to her home to find Dina gone and is alone. She lost Dina and the baby, Joel, her friends, her revenge, and her fingers. Tommy is injured and I think has lost his wife.

    8. What are zombies? - There’s barely any in the game. Clickers seem a joke, as Abby can handle 3 at once. And human characters can whistle and make noise no problem.

    9. Abby’s sex scene - it’s just tasteless and dry. Funnily it’s praised and allowed, but anime girls in bikinis, and other less risqué scenes are criticised and censored. This one is more just a hit at Sony than it is about the game itself.    … Expand

The story and characters are awful. Joel is killed after 2 hrs of gameplay. Most of the fans can live if it's done in a respectful way. But noooo, they let him be slaughtered by some character named Abby in the most disrespectful way and then they want us to play 70% of the games as her ? People care about Joel and Ellie. Nobody cares about Abby. NOBODY ! One of the strongest points of the first game was the storytelling and the relationship between Joel and Ellie. We cared about them. And after 7 years of waiting they give us this ? Shame on you, Naughty Dog...… Expand

    Story-wise we see once again the writing must have consistency, on a possible sequel or continuation of a story. In TLOU II, the characters we once knew very well in the first game, are totally different people on the sequel,    Beyond all the drama surrounding the game, there is plenty to love about it, technicaly, it's the best looking game out there in the moment, absolutely beautiful.

    But it is not really transmitting that emotion or anguish to me that the first one. Despite the fact that I am watching gameplays in both games: The first if I even liked what happened and the end if I And the end if it made me cry
    This is exciting because of how they paint the game but it does not transmit more nor does it make you have empathy

Played the whole play-through, 25 hours and the whole time I just wanted to forget about this and go back to LOU1 which is my favorite game of all time. Because of the first game, the story is everything to me. Yes, the graphics are awesome, the scenery is beautiful, the voice acting & acting is perfect. BUT, a huge BUT,I'm really saddened about the story Naughty Dog decided to go with. Played the whole play-through, 25 hours and the whole time I just wanted to forget about this and go back to LOU1 which is my favorite game of all time. Because of the first game, the story is everything to me. Yes, the graphics are awesome, the scenery is beautiful, the voice acting & acting is perfect.     One thing, that i did like story-wise was the relationship of Ellie and Dina. It felt natural and believable.I enjoyed that.But it all falls apart on this mess of a story

    Gameplay is awesome, but the story ruins it all.(After all it's a narrative story) Also, Sony false advertised JOEL in the trailers. JOEL appeared on many parts of the trailers pointing that there would be an adventure with the duo, but they fking replaced it with Jessee.Also the flashbacks of TLOU were altered to comply with this story.

    A mess of a game. How low did naughty dog fell.

    Worse that this **** game is the "critics". How dare they all give 100's on this mess?
    I wouldn't accept the rumor that sony pays for reviews, but in this case...it's more than evident.

    It has nice graphics, solid background and design, same for music and sound, the rocket spaceship scene was really touching.
    -The bad Its bare-bones, no multiplayer, adding swimming, and jumping doesn't really add anything, the game is repetitive you don't get new gameplay mechanics the more you play. The story is really bad, this is what you shouldn't do when making a    -the good

But it really is a letdown storywise with some of the laziest and most complacent writing since GoT season 8 for confused writers with a misplaced-yet-entitled sense of grandeur. If they wanted to deconstruct the story and/or genre there were plenty of better ways to do it. But what did you expect ? Neil Druckmann hired aA pretty but somewhat boring game, with mechanics from a decade ago. But it really is a letdown storywise with some of the laziest and most complacent writing since GoT season 8 for confused writers with a misplaced-yet-entitled sense of grandeur. If they wanted to deconstruct the story and/or genre there were plenty of better ways to do it. But what did you expect ?     I literaly feel sory for all that hard work people had to sacrifice for this game. Graphics is nice, gameplay too and one can see that fact, that this is a really modern, beautifull game. And i really feel sory for all the fans which TLOU 1 did. I dont have problem with plot twists, story in a very pure form i liked. There were times where the game really shined but those did not outweigh the lunky storytelling. It felt like a kid wrote most of the lines in this game. They just weren’t believable. I will say the level design, environments, voice acting were all superb. I applaud their thinking in creating a fame with a diverse social cast, but as a LGBT person I think they could have done better. I thought the transgender story line was fine but they could have made the character much deeper. This game had so much promise and I am heartbroken over it not delivering. The Last Of Us part 1 is unequivocally my favorite game of all time. Neil Druckmann’s ego is too huge and he needs stop attacking his fans for expressing their opinions on the game. Really sad to see his handling of the criticism. The official reviews for this game are really suspect because I just feel they aren’t accurate. It is reveal that abby's father was killed by joel and ellie was told by joel why they didn't go through with the cure. Ellie caugh up with Abbie but loses the fight. Then she finds her again and wins the fight but let her live. The end.
    This game is bad because everything that happens in the 20+ hours is inconsecuential.
    As a character Abbie is never likeable, and you have to play as her half the game.
    By the end you just want the game to end and it doesn't matter who kills who.

At the very least, the way how they kill or die should align with their mindsets to make it reasonable. Characters in this game, nonetheless, contradict themselves in many ways. One example that fewer people have discussed is that one will only kill one person from an opposing group, sparing the rest of the group (whom were already captured) for later vengeance, under the Apocalyptic scenario. The lazy-written and ridiculous plot ruins both the old and new characters and makes them hardly authentic or likable.

    Inconsistent: A story should have a main theme to convey and should convey it consistently via the natural and progressive buildup by the plot. However, at the end of this game it uses 5 minutes to go abruptly against its theme throughout the previous 20-hour gameplay, making all these journeys and characters meaningless and even laughable, and the ideology the story trying to deliver hypocritical.

    Verdict: There're other issues like pacing and unnecessarily excessive violence (for nothing), but the flawed story/storytelling is the root of my dissatisfaction. It's a real shame that devs work overtime for such a beautifully crafted world just for the corrupted plot.    … Expand

    Разберем по пункатам:
    1. Внимание к деталям
    В поселение нпс даже не разговаривают друг с другом, разработчики не додумались прописать статистам диалоги. В первой части такого не было. Да даже в Халве второй неписи были живее. Таких примеров могу привезти уйму.
    2. Геймплей
    Добавилась одна кор-фича, Элли теперь умеет ползать, в остальном копирует прорывной геймплей первой части. Инновации нет, ладно хотя бы не хуже.
    3. Графика
    Пейзажи выглядят хуже чем в RDR 2 прошлого года, только по этому её нельзя назвать прорывной. Она по крайней мере хуже одной игры (а то и более, ведь есть ещё God of War 4). Мимика лиц не лучше чем в первой части или Uncharted 4. Прорыва за 7 лет не произошло.
    4. Персонажи
    Ни один персонаж не вызывает симпатии, даже повзрослевшая Элли. У Дракмана сценарная импотенция. Радует только Джоэл, но его экранное время очень мало, и персонаж привлекает только благодаря раскрытию его в первой части.
    5. Сюжет
    Банальщина, с очень тухлыми сценарными твистами, одна сцена с жирафами в первой части, ставит всю эту игру на колени. А ведь в первой части была травма Джоэла, становления взаимоотношений между 2 главными героями, встреча с людоедами, встреча с чернокожими братьями и т.д. и т.п. А какая там концовка, просто взрыв мозга, здесь же она вызывает только недоумение.

It's obvious that Naughty Dog have clearly tried to make something for the sole purpose of creating something "artsy" more so than being an enjoyable experience in any regard. As a result, The Last of Us Part II feels like what might just be the perfect definition of a "sequel that didn't need to exist".

    Starting with the games positives, if there is one thing I can give Naughty Dog, it is definitely the game's graphics. The game is a technological marvel, and is perhaps the best video game I've seen from a graphical perspective in my life. However, this is where my praise for the game ends. Not only is the gameplay significantly stripped down from its predecessor (most notably, the removal of TLoU's fantastic multiplayer mode), but the main selling point of the first game, the story, has been turned into completely jumbled mess that is filled with plot twists with zero purpose, plot holes upon plot holes, and absolutely nonsensical logic. Characters are introduced and forced upon the player for no reason and players are expected to like them for no reason. Similarly, characters are killed and ripped away from the player with very little reasoning behind their deaths. The story stops and takes breaks for completely nonsensical moments, characters now act in ways that would make absolutely no sense in a post-apocalyptic world, and Ellie, now the main character of the story, has justifications that are completely contradictory to her existence in the original game.

    As someone who loved the first game, I just can't help but feel let down by The Last of Us Part II. It feels like Naughty Dog tried so hard to create an "artistic masterpiece" that they forgot what they were actually making. A video game. As a result, the game feels undeniably devoid of the passion that makes up Naughty Dog's previous products, including the original TLoU, and it suffers greatly for it.

    If Neil Druckmann's goal was to create a sequel that achieves little aside from spitting on the first game's grave, then he did an absolutely fantastic job. I wouldn't recommend this game if you haven't played the first game, and I ESPECIALLY would not recommend this game if you have.    … Expand

La verdad, quiero ser muy sincero en esta crítica, le tenía MUCHA fe al juego las últimas fechas por las críticas de la prensa, pero luego de verlo con mis propios ojos, debo admitir que el juego es SUPREMAMENTE forzado en el ámbito de inclusión de minorías, durante todo el juego nos restriegan en la cara que Ellie es lesbiana, si, fue dicho y se dio a entender de manera perfecta en TLoU: Left Behind, pero por que fue a un ritmo lento y muy bien explicado y en absoluto nada incómodo, pero en cambio acá, literalmente desde el primer minuto te dicen que es lesbiana cuando a uno ni le interesa eso.

    Eso por una parte, por que luego el 80% de los diálogos entre Ellie y Dani son meras intuiciones de que se gustan, y la verdad de pasar a ser tierno paraba a ser supremamente incómodo y hasta aburrido y jarto, se sienten hasta forzados los diálogos entre ellas.

    Ahora Abby, dios mio, que personaje tan detestable, sacado de un NPC irrelevante y nada interesante y encima mata a Joel Y TENEMOS QUE CONTROLARLA LA MITAD DEL JUEGO. Pésimo personaje, y aparte hay una escena sexual super incómoda, que incluso si hubiera sido mujer o no, de igual manera esa escena se siente forzada y hasta asquerosa, hay formas de mostrar escenas sexuales en una narrativa, y definitivamente como lo mostraron con Abby, esa NO es la forma.

    Es una opinión sincera, de alguien que aunque leyó los spoilers en abril, le dio esperanzas al juego de que expliquen narrativamente hablando toda la inclusión que dieron, que por mi si incluían personajes LGBTQI+ no me importaba si no fuera relevante su sexualidad o no me lo restregaran en la cara, como lo hicieron con Bill en el primer juego que era gay y nadie sospechaba hasta que vimos que tenía una revista porno gay, y aún así, fue un personaje amado y respetado... ACA FUE TODO LO CONTRARIO.

    I tried to just submit my score however it appears to not have saved - let's hold thumbs it works when combined with a short review.

    I enjoyed various parts of this game however the story was pathetic. It shows a genuine lack of respect to the wonderful original.     It is such a pretty game and while the trailers promised deeper than expected combat and situations to work through these were at least improved in this game over the original. The story though is just horrible and feels like it was put together intentionally to anger and divide fans of the original - we deserved better.

    There is no doubt that this title is technically quite a feat in terms of pure art style and look. However, this is the only credit I can give. Suffice to say that if you are just a normal gamer this may be very off-putting. Also, the incredible brutality and violence throughout seems to serve no purpose. There's no glory, no funny moments, it's just downbeat and depressing. I can't understand how this can be so different from the first game which was heart warming and fun to play. What a terrible waste of 6-7 years of development. I wish they would leave their politics at the door with these games.… Expand

    I just can't believe they did this to this game. I just feel so sad I could not even finish it. For me this means naughty dogs it's over, last time I spend any money with them. I just wonder how much money they spend on all this fake reviews, I can't believe anyone that played the first one would ever consider this good!

Ultimately I wanted to give this a 10 on two principles, most importantly I think this will be looked back on as one of the most important games to be released and may even mark the start of a new trend in story telling in games and maybe even other media and secondly because the people giving this 0 need to go play superman N64.

    That being said there a couple of things that bugged me so 9/ 9.5

    Getting a few things out of the way first, visually its probably just dethroned GOW and HZD for prettiest game this console cycle, right up till the beach scene at the end where they must have taken their foot of the peddle because them textures and depth of field fall off a literal cliff.

    You wont find a game with better writing or understanding of how to set a scene, its cinematic quality in both standards and that speaks to how far games have come as a medium, you could take the gameplay out and this would have been a top notch movie.

    Problems, why yes I have some minor gripes. Jumping is bizzare, I get its meant to be realistic but Lev monkeys his way around so why cant I jump more then half a foot without looking like I havent got off the couch for a while. The UI is still isnt very intuitive, often when things arent going your way you need to react quickly and navigating that menu just doesnt feel natural, if its designed to stress me out further then well done. That being said I didnt look into the control settings so maybe there is something in there.
    The medical supply quest also felt a little unrewarding, I understand why it needs to be there but blah it probably could have been something else.

    Finally the elephant in the room, I am going to ignore the small minded people who are hung up on the LGBT issue and move right on to the two pronged story, this is the first game I can think of that removes the notion of Good vs Evil and puts emotional weight into everything that has happened to that point and even more on whats happens for remainder of the game. The "enemy" suddenly become fully fleshed out characters with their own lives and purpose and you dont get a choice, personally I love it. The world isnt black and white so why should all games be.

    I understand if you dont like that in your games but its not exactly like Naughty Dog hides any of this, the opening minutes of the very first game has someone making the exact same decision so when your response to "Not liking a story" is to give a game 0. It blows my mind, its so childish that it doesn't surprise me the story doesn't appeal to you but honestly its just disappointing.

    Overall, I take issue with almost the entirety of TLOU2 apart from general graphics. TLOU1 is essentially heavy on the story and character development side whereas TLOU2, I felt no connection and as for the story I still don't know what is going on. You jump around way too much due to a ridiculous amount of plot holes.

    They, naughty dog, decided to kill off Joel within 2 hours of initial game play and replaced the iconic and legendary character with another male. Woman? I honestly have no idea what Abby is. I sincerely don't and that is a huge problem. It's gender should not be subjective. It needs to be clearly defined because gamers are following THEIR story. I will assume Abby is a dude since his muscles are double the size of mine.

    Apart from Ellie and Abby, how do you follow the characters? There are so many.

    The sex scene between Abby and Owen, which I get is for a curb ball, should not be in a game. It was incredibly and horrifically cringe beyond contestation. I don't enjoy watching two gay men go at it. I don't. There should have been a warning - in fact a trigger warning - about the inevitable gay cut scene. My god I am going to jolt awake in my nightmares because of that scene. I wish I could unsee it.

    That's as far as I have gotten and I haven't turned the game on since. A little over 2 hours in. I am done. My refund is underway. How the F did naughty dog stray so far away from greatness? I mean it sincerely. TLOU1 exceeded all of my expectation and I had high expectations. TLOU2 is a disgusting joke to say the least. I am actually furious that I wasted my time.    … Expand

Почему половину игру я должен играть за неё? Я не могу сопереживать этому персонажу, Нил, это не работает. Она убила самого дорогого человека для Элли и я должен ему сопереживать? Нет, Джоэл тоже не святой, он убил очень много людей на своем пути, но такого даже врагу не пожелаешь. Быть забитым как скотина и ещё впридачу смачно харкнуть на его труп(спасибо что не пописали хотя бы). Но эту игру вы должны пройти, не важно на плойке или ютубе, чтобы у вас так же возникло много вопросов и вы поняли почему игроки ставят ей такие низкие оценки.… Expand

    Ótimos gráficos e isso é tudo que esse jogo tem a oferecer, já que o jogo é feito pra vc ficar o tempo todo pegando recurso e escondendo de zumbis. A história do primeiro jogo foi até boa mas nunca gostei desse tipo de gameplay. The last of Us nunca deveria ter se tornado um jogo, mas sim uma série pra poder tirar a parte chata

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
