    An absolute waste if my time, this game doesn't even come close to the first one. I wanted to play this game for ellie and joul not a golf game with ma'am and incredibly uninteresting characters with horrible pacing that left me confused to what I was even doing for the 2nd half of the game.

Joel was the main protagonist of the first game and truly on of the most unique game characters ever to exist - and the developers had only his rushed death in mind? SHAME ON YOU! They killed him in a way he absolutely didnt deserve. Also it doesnt make sense, that Ebbie and her stupid friends came all the way just to kill Joel? Its so completely random that it cant make sense. And then you even have to play that stupid piece of **** Ebbie. That makes even less sense! How are you supposed to create a good character binding like in the first part if you actually hate the character you are playing? What where those stupid SJW cucks thinking? Neither on of the characters except Joel, Ellie and aslo Lev and his sister meant something to me. Was i supposed to feel less angry if i play Ebbies storyline?? Did you really think that? I didnt even feel ANYTHING when i **** murdered the pregnant woman who **** deserved to die like all of the other **** as well. Same goes for Ellie.

Mechanics are a minor improvement over the last game, but the story is lacking, characters are OUT of character, doing things they WOULD know better than to do given what we know of them, the plot is contrived, and characters we do interact with just are nowhere near as compelling as the first game, even actively unlikable. That with cheap attempts to get us to care for them simply nails the coffin shut for me.

    I'd prefer playing zombie Joel than having to play as Abby again.    … Expand

For me, the game ended at the point where we said goodbye to Joel. That's what kept the games going. It is he who is first remembered by all the players. His character, reticence, and decisions generally influenced how he became and how he was remembered. But in the second part of such memorable characters were. What did we trade Joel for? On the pumped-up, slightly stupid Abby, who betrayed all her close friends, in order to save unfamiliar characters. Or Allie, who suffers from bipolar disorder? Her opinion changes like a weather vane.
    If I had been in Joel's shoes at the end of the original The Last of Us, I would have accepted Ellie's surgery without a second thought.

I'm fine with a depressing, sad, and dark story. But Joel didn't get treat right in this game buy absolutely getting clobbered with a golf club by Abby. Leading to his death, and you have to play as Abby, the antagonist for over 10 hours... WTF NAUGHTY DOG!?!?! Aren't you supposed to try to kill the antagonist? Instead you play as her for half of the story. And the ending sucks because you don't even get to kill Abby at the end.… Expand

That being said I along with many other people had a problem with the story. Yes I hated it when Joel died, yes I hated playing as abby but the biggest problem for me was the ending.the lack of a choice is the absolute worst thing by not letting me decide if I wanted to spare abby or not it made the 2 things I disliked about the game that much worse maybe I would have spared abby or maybe not but l wasn't given the chance to figure it out on my own.… Expand

    - Graphics are beautiful, Naughty Dog show their true strengths in creating an amazing and unique environment

    - Little details help keep the player immersed in the world

    Cons:

    - Whatever strength the start of the game creates is immediately destroyed, not by the death of a beloved character, but by the introduction of a character which the player is forced to relate to
    - Poor writing unfortunately creates many plot holes which leaves players wondering just how on earth they all slipped past the whole team
    - Bugs. Oh my lord the bugs, I don't know whether I personally was unlucky to find so many bugs or if the game was filled to the brim with them but the amount of times the game decides to become a mess was laughable
    - Poor character development. A bunch of nobodies which no one cares about, an awkward sex scene which I'm unsure as to why it was included? (unless it's a main plot device, there's no point in having a scene in a game like that, keep it in your pants developers) and the poor treatment of both protagonists
    - She hulk. This is more of a personal thing and as such won't affect the rating, but christ. I have done my fair share of bodybuilding and if I could have She Hulks muscles by surviving off of scraps of food and probably no protein shakes, I'd be cutting down on supps. Granted she is made skinnier after certain events, but during an apocalypse, every one would be lean as hell unless they had access to Willy Wonkas chocolate factory.

    Conclusion A game many of us have waited for us since the brilliant end of tlou's dlc has been a massive letdown. I'll hold on hope for some phenomenal dlc but the vanilla game? No thanks, I'll stick to stabbing myself with a knife, it's less painful.    … Expand

    The reason The Last of Us Part I was so well-received was because no one could say who among the characters was in the wrong or who was in the right. The Last of Us Part II, however, took this intricate and delicately woven storyline and changed it into brute, insensitive propaganda that constantly tries to “enlighten” the players. Before, there was no right and wrong answers; now, Neil Druckmann’s answer is the right answer and the game doesn’t even try to hide that. He mistakes himself for sitting on the moral high ground and thinks the players need to be educated. Naughty Dog should stay in its lane of a game company instead of being political, and stop trying to lecture the society of being kind to others when it can’t even care for its own employees to the extent that 70% of them in a department left before the release of the game.    … Expand

It is unfortunate because graphics and game play are very good. While playing i was extremely angry and then i almost stop playing. Then by end i was extremely sad. I think some people like it because they weren't that invested in the first game. If you are i recommend skip it altogether or may be wait until you can borrow it or buy it at discount price.… Expand

    As a player of the first game, I felt betrayed by some of the decisions made in the plot and being forced to use a character I didn't like to continue the story.     Gameplay was not great either, some of the mechanics first introduced were quickly forgotten and left out, and the action felt forced and not an important part of the game.
    Overall, this game is cutscenes with an overuse of ellipsis and some zombies in between.

Woke Trash from beyond the Golf Club, ruined the previous game and attempted to tell a revenge story on the basis of "cycle of mean people never end." Core game play was relatively the same as the previous entry outside of flashier animations, the only exceptions are better stealth sections & difficulty settings customization. Lied about killing dogs, a specific QTE forces the player to murder a dog **** You Naughty Dog). The only reason I give this a 1 & not a 0 is the care given to the recreation of Seattle. I don't hate the people who worked on this game, but Neil Druckmann convinced me to boycott any and all past (woke) & future Naughty Dog releases.… Expand

    The only reason I gave this gave a rating above a 0 is because of the graphics and animation. Those are the best I've ever seen on a console game before, but if I am reviewing about story, its a 0 from me dawg. I honestly dont know what went on over at Naughty Dog with this game, if you are expecting the same type of story, character ark, forget about it. The name is what sells this POS.

I love the fact that player can now do prone movement, and beautiful graphics on top of that. But, the story sucks alright.

    The story seems to be written by an SJW extremist with short rainbow colored hair. I hate the fact that they killed Joel (favorite character) for nothing, literally FOR NOTHING. I would have understand if Joel died defending Ellie or Tommy or some meaningful **** And the fact that the game forces you to play as Abby THE KILLER OF JOEL are utterly disgusting. And when you tried to kill Ellie playing as Abby? I'm not gonna try to finish it at that point, I'm done there. We are in TLOU 2 in part 49 (skipping several) and I am not going to finish it, it hurts too much.     Die Charaktere gleichen denen aus dem ersten Teil kaum bis gar nicht, ausserdem sind die Beweggründe auch recht unverständlich. Anstelle eine anständige Story zu produzieren, hat man sich mehr mühe gegeben, möglichst viele Minderheiten im Spiel vertreten zu haben. Das ist an sich kein Problem!, jedoch macht sich Naughty Dog hier nicht die mühe, dann auch tiefer auf diese Themen einzugehen. Ausserdem ist das Spiel viel zu lang gezogen und enthält komplett unnötige und sinnfreie Plots. Zudem ist das Ende (und meiner Meinungen nach fast das gesamte Spiel) sehr sehr enttäuschend und unbefriedigend!! Das einzige gute an dem Spiel ist das Gameplay, die Grafik und die Musik. Die Story und die Charaktere jedoch....

    Als grosser Fan von The Last of Us (PS3) und Remastered, kann ich TLOU2 NICHT EMPFEHLEN!!

    (Zusätzlich kommen noch falsche Versprechen sowie Flase Advertising von Naughty Dog hinzu. (Fake Trailer welche die Fans in die irre Führen sollen). Aus diesen Gründen 0 Punkte; nicht weil das Game an sich schlecht ist, sondern weil es nicht das Spiel ist welches Naughty Dog versprochen, angepriesen und vermarktet hat.)

It was the story that attracted us, and that was also the most dissapointing part of the experience. Which is why the score is so low.     terrible story. absolute polluting of the beautiful game the first one was. the game was still beautiful, but that was it. just an eye candy. wish they didnt make the second one at all. so that the first one could be just left as a masterpiece with the future story depending on each player’s imaginations.

    The only good thing about this thing is the graphics, it shows that this game is not made with the intention that people enjoy it but to make political propaganda and impose the political idealism of certain sectors in addition to forcing the politically correct to the people and not only that it shows that the intention of the game is to make a hate speech towards men.

    Terrible story and too many things don't make sense for the characters. Graphics and gameplay itself are pretty good but the story is just that bad its hard to overlook in a linear game. Would not recommend

    If you mainly care about graphics and gameplay, this game is decent. But if you're like me, having at least a slight desire to enjoy a well-crafted story, then TLOU2 failed miserably on this aspect. If the graphics and gameplay scored 7, then the story scored a negative 5 since it ruins everything about this game, including the graphics and gameplay.

(Because there would probably have been less controversy then, right?) I don't know, fact is I couldn't stand the mashup of ultra-teen-angst and crazy preachiness. These themes just don't work together. It was like Duke Nukem Forever had a love child with Agony and it was raised in an American Public school to be a gender fluid Identity Politics professor. It’s fun to blow people apart with the hunting pistol and flamethrower (and hilarious because the game is trying to make you dislike violence/think of the enemy as human).     My bias: I did not agree with Joel's actions at the end of TLOU. I was hoping that this story would pick up where that left off and explore that side of him a bit more. Redemption. I was hoping for a further understanding into the infected, a hope for the cure, a rebuild of civilization, etc.

    But nope. The game wants us to play as Ellie because scumbag Joel had it coming, right? He killed the one and only person who could develop a vaccine...... sure, that's very believable. In a harrowing scene, Abby & co kill him. Now Ellie is pretty cool and the dynamic between her, Dina, and Jesse plays out nicely. It's convincing. We see her character evolve. Then I see "Seattle Day 1" and we're thrown into the game again as Abby. I understand what they're trying to do here but I simply do not care for it. I don't need to go through the _entire_ journey again. A simple cutscene would suffice. I stopped playing.

    I don't really have anything new to add other than what's already been said. The technical execution here is flawless (graphics, gameplay, score, etc.) but the story is intentional emotional torture. They introduce characters only to kill them off and then force-feed you Abby's (the antagonist but not really because we live in a complex world!) perspective so we can walk a mile in her shoes. Once the campaign turned and I saw "Seattle Day 1", I immediately stopped playing and watched the ending playthrough on YouTube so I could skip over the next 15 hours or so of playing the same game over again with a new character that I really don't want to care about. Yes, I'm being emotionally dense but video games are escapism and trying to stretch the medium and introduce complexity for the cool brownie points such as story being told out of order, force-empathy with a brand-new character, etc. are stunts that will ensure that this game is remembered for all the wrong reasons.

    There's a fundamental disconnect between the story the game wants to tell and the story the audience wants to hear. Forcing us to empathize and humanize an antagonist to introduce complexity is not the direction this game should have taken. If you want to take those kinds of "risks", do it in a new property and leave this one alone. Too late now, I hope you feel like Joel did after the ending of TLOU.    … Expand

The answer is very simple, and it does not only concern the ground level plot and how it is awfully slammed inside the game chronologically speaking, but even all the terrible actions that Naughty Dog and Sony made when the leaks came out.     The game didn't fulfil my expectations I had going in which is why I'm giving it a negative review. If the story and character building in a narrative driven game is not there then it's not a good game overall in my perspective and it's deserving of a low score.

    There was a bit too much excessive disturbing violence in my taste but I'm not gonna hold it back for that but I didn't feel it was needed/justified.

    The only enjoyable part is the gameplay and quality build of the game world itself which the hard working and crunching Naughty Dog staff deserve all the praise and love for.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
