I pre-ordered this game after the beta, because it was fun, and I enjoyed my self.

    Never again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Although the campaign of the game is good and enjoyable, the multiplayer has been ruined by EA's almost pay2win system. A loot-box system with micro-transactions are OK if the game was free-to-play, however you are paying at least € 64,99 for a standard edition, and € 89,99 for a deluxe edition. When you buy a full prised game, there should not be things locked that can be bought with real money, that not "pride and accomplishment". The gameplay is fun but is is just ruined by EA's stupid economic decisions and their greed, I feel sorry for the developers of the game and that they have their game ruined by the worst company ever. The developers of this game clearly have zero respect for the Battlefront community. Not only have they repeatedly shown that the entire multiplayer experience is just a money-grab, but the way that they're reacted to this whole controversy just proves that they see customers only for their wallets.

Despite this game being an improvment gameplay-wise, we should not support lootbox progression system, gambling, unfair match rewards, vague answers and all EA and DICE are doing.
It seems like DICE is next studio to be ruined by EA after Bioware.

EA is trash. They continue to produce AAA titles with maximum marketing effort and then absolutely **** the bed with implementation always involving micro transactions and increasing levels of Pay to Win as time goes on. I really hope that this game might be the thing to wake folks up and to finally start voting with their wallets.

Don't give in to this micro-transaction nonsense! If you pay full price for a triple-A title, you should not have to pay more, or grind for 100's of hours, to get access to all of the content. Buying into this lootbox greed sends the message to EA that we as gamers are ok with it. We. Are. Not.

Don't buy this game until they remove the pay to win lootbox cash grab.

It´s a shame, really. Technically sublime, top-notch sound design and a great soundtrack.
All this excellence is spoiled with greed. Battlefield games had the unlock-kit DLC´s and as stupid as it sounds those DLC-packs did not affect gameplay.

I'm not part of any gaming community whatsoever, nor have I let other negative reviews affect me in this verdict(although it is very nice to see that other people seem to be fed up aswell). I regret buying the EA titles I did this year, and won't be giving them any more money whatsoever, probably not even when they change. To be honest, it's not a huge loss. Garbage Pay 2 win system that is more focused on a cash grab, and how much money it can milk from players than anything. This is essentially a virtual gambling simulator. The absolute fact that this game's progression system manipulates and encourages players to spend real life money for in-game advantages is:

    1) Not fun
    2) Not fair
    3) Disrespectful, and
    4) Clearly telling me that the creators/publisher prioritises money over integrity.

This feels like a free-to-play experience; when I pay a premium price for a game, I expect a premium experience.

I have to admit, while trying to progress, the system does feel like a prettier version of a slot machine. As progression is tied to randomised loot boxes, essentially micro-gambling, it feels cheap. And to have this variation of gambling in a Disney game is just simply not cool to put it lightly.

The game-play is fun when it isn't influenced by additional real life money.
I do not want nor support the game in it's current state.

unshackled greed ruins what would otherwise be an incredibly fun an polished game. This is disrespectful to gamers and Star Wars alike, and no fan should support this product. The game itself deserves way more than a 1, and that's what make this situation so insulting, EA knows we want this product so they did everything to exploit us, ruining the experience for most people.

terrible single player campaign, no sense of history progression, I was hoping an empire side of the history but I ended with a rebel one in its place. and the multiplayer well ppl with cards are way more powerful than a normal person,so i'll just be playing Star wars empire at war that is a way superior game.

A feature of the Deluxe model over the standard game permitted play prior to official release, and as a result I have spent the last 24-hours playing. However, buyer beware: this is not your atypical high-budget 'AAA' title; this game is better represented by a free-to-play mobile model.

As a casual gamer, I have always been careful to avoid the free-to-play format which recovers revenue by tempting the player into purchasing in-game items and currencies via 'micro-transactions'. The in-game currency can then be used to buy 'loot-crates' which offer a chance to win more in-game items. The process can be repeated if the in-game item you want is not won immediately. Slot machines work in much the same manner, wherein if you do not win a prize you can place another coin in the slot and try, try again. Much to my dismay, this model has become popular with high-budget games such as Overwatch and the recent Call-of-Duty, wherein cosmetic items (think costumes or 'skins', alternate paint-jobs on weapons, etc.) can be won by this gambling process. However, Battlefront II is distinct in that the items available for gamble are essential to the game-play itself (such as aim-assist, damage multipliers and powerful in-game characters).

Don't get me wrong though - the classic Star Wars backdrops and characters prominent in this game were visually impressive. Furthermore, the gameplay itself appeared fluid and characters were well-integrated with environs, despite minor character clipping I noticed only toward the end of my last session with the game. However, after every death at the hands of an enemy character, a small window would pop-up on the screen to indicate the in-game items and and associated power-ups used to defeat me. Despite in-game play timers placed on these upgrades before they can be used, many items persistent on my screen were clearly inaccessible at this pre-release stage of the game, except via micro-transactions. This constant visual reminder of in-game gambling largely nullifies any positive review I could provide about the graphical state of Battlefront II.

Ultimately, as an Australian resident, I was able to return the game under the Australian Consumer Law citing misleading conduct. It was unreasonable to expect that a full-priced game such as Battlefront II employ in-game gambling mechanics to the degree that it governs play. I would not recommend this game and, furthermore, hope that this review stands to support those who have purchased this game and feel similarly mislead.

However due to a forced loot box system and Pay to win culture promoted in the game it looses all score from me. This is a disgrace to the Star Wars brand and Disney. EA the game publishers have failed to listen to people at beta stage, early access stage and release. The game because of this is a failure and lets the artwork and gameplay down.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
