After listening to EA’s response after much deliberation I took their advice to heart, and I have realized that I have gained a sense of pride and accomplishment by giving this game a 0.

Is it too much to ask for a good game from EA these days? EA is attempting to mine every last morsel at the cost of customer loyalty. It's a real shame because at one point in time EA came out with some of the greatest games of all time...& now we get this garbage. Hey EA...take a look outside your little bubble, this formula isn't working for you & it doesn't work for us. Thumbs way down.

The only way to change the slide of AAA games into candy crush p2w is to NOT BUY this and make sure to tell EVERY gamer you know how horrible it is. Punishing EA here can go a LONG way toward resisting games becoming phone based garbage.

I don't mind progression in a game that i have paid for! But there is no doubt that this progression isn't for my enjoyment of the game, if at any point i feel like i should or need to pay more to progress then the system i have already paid for has failed! I didn't Pay for a Grind

This game is all about the almighty dollar... certainly not the fans, that’s for sure. DON’T SUPPORT THIS BS OF A GAME. STAY AWAY UNTIL WE SEE SOME CHANGE TOWARDS THE FANS. I'm sorry Dice.
I hope that most people who pre-ordered could cancel it, and I also hope that this will serve as a lesson for EA.

Unfortunately, as amazing and authentic as the graphics are, the game has been rendered unplayable due to the lootboxes, allowing players to pay for significant gameplay advantage - the normal skill required being disregarded in favour of how much a player is willing to pay. What could have been an amazing game is now forever tarnished by obnoxious business practices. How disappointing.

Why this score? For the amount of GREED ea has. The game is so/so, but 40 hours for a single hero? Then lying about price drop when you actually have a credit earning drop as well, not changing anything? EA, the cancer of gaming!

Bought this as a reward for finishing uni this year. I got the elite special whatever it's called edition in the preorder for early access, and I mainly bought it for the campaign hoping for something almost like Mass Effect. Felt like a Call of Duty campaign. Thanks for cancelling Visceral's Star Wars game EA.

The game would've been great, if they hadn't completely ruined the balancing/progression with micro-transactions. The visuals and game play are solid enough, but the greed is what shines through the most here. I will no longer support any EA game, as long as it has any form of micro-transactions in it.

No, just no. Glorious graphics and SW universe is not "all what we need from MP-orient game". That is still important things but not the main. Balance and playability - the foundation was destroyed.

So if main mechanic was missed, are there any reasons to look for pros?

Everthing... I mean everthing is behind some casino roulette reward system. It’s literally an Android or iOS app. You know those app games that sell loot boxes for the best gear or characters;this is the same **** The game is pretty because it’s linear... Anyone can make a game look good if you prohibit players from by using invisible walls... That’s fine but they make it so obvious here.

I highly recommend watching streamers play the game first before you buy and make your descision then. I was lucky had a coupon to get it... 70$ is a lot of money for a game my opinion they don;t deserve my money.

The truth is, in a multiplayer mode, you WON'T' get matched with people who have better gears or skills than you. it is taken care of by the match making system. You will only get matched with people with similar gears and levels with you.

The 59 price gets you a good single player mode and a good multiplayer mode. EA as a business would need to have some kind of strategy to make money to keep develop content, those people who developed the games don't do it for free.

I personally think the most egregious thing about it is the grinding which is utterly unbalanced and a snorefest. That being said, this is the same **** that Ubisoft does time and time again, and I do sympathise for EA that they are bearing the brunt of the much deserved criticisms despite the fact this has been happening for a long long time (look at the ridiculous grinding with For Honour and Rainbow Siege which are just as bad but didn't get the same negative publicity). However, not to defend EA nor the game, there are still some worthy things to talk about this game IF YOU DON'T CARE THIS IS A $60 GAME BASED ON A FREE TO PLAY MODEL.

    Pros:
First this game is still very beautiful to look. Although its not as detailed or smooth as BF1, I think the attention to detail is still much better than other games. The actual game has a lot more content than the previous BF1 and the battle point system is indeed quite fun once your in the game. That being said there are more negatives that people are overlooking that I would like to highlight.

CONS (and there are many excluding the well known ones):
Firstly, there are actually more negatives in this game compared with BF1 and Im not talking about the stuff you know from the media (ie loot boxes etc - that been done to death), instead i would like to focus on the actual negative stuff. These include:
    - The game being pretty boring. Firstly despite having more content and classes etc, for some reason the game feels rather boring in MP. The problem is that the game design is bang average making most people fighting in very broad areas with little squad mechanics or shared objectives. It feels like playing a 3rd person call of duty most of the time instead of the single point, choke point kind of warfare. The problem is that most of the game mechanics are quite limited and most epople also never get to play the heroes themselves. The actual gunplay seems a bit off despite with the added variety.
    - The single player is boring and a wate of time. Despite having this as a selling point, its rather stupid how the single player is generic and not much else to do.
    - Still no galatic conquest? Its a joke how they really hate the community.
    - The progress system is stupid as you well know.
    - Another problem after playing the game is that the map design for most of the game feels off. For a game that prides itself being like Star Wars, it feels awful and generic. The fact that we dont have more content on heroes and classes from different eras speak volumme how much they dont care about the community.

    Summary
This game if you look at it broadly is well deserved 0. However, if you come to buy this game eyes open and don't care about the unethical practices which have been in mulitiple mulitplayer games such as those by Ubisoft for a very long time now (its just the chickens have come to roost now), then there are some merits to this game as highlighted above. That said this game probably is entertaining for around 10-20 hours before it becomes dog**** boring with lack of progress, leaderboards and stats which other DICE game excelled in at the past. Its very sad but welcome to modern gaming!

This is how I'd some up how the ground assault in multiplayer works, if your defending your most likely going to win, if your assaulting your most likely going to lose. Enough is enough. Cut the micro-transaction, loot box, and pay-to-win crap. If CD Projekt Red can create arguably one of the greatest games of all time (Witcher 3) with 1/4 of the assets that EA has, there is no excuse for this crap attempt at a sub-par game to try and weasel as much money as you can from your consumers. As far as progression goes.... it's not as bad as people would have you believe. You really don't need to buy crates since all the good stuff (heroes and weapons) need to be unlocked by playing the game. The advantage gained through loot crates is not that big and if you are even a half descent player you will not need them in order to win.
You should be able to unlock one hero during one evening (aprox. 3 to 4 hours) of play.
Some of the Hut Contracts in SWBF1 took as much time to complete.

The reward for playing a game is rather low (220 credits for a round of Blast) and would be nicer if the reward was linked to the players performance.
But then again.... a round of blast is usually over in a couple of minutes.
Add to that the extra credits you get from completing challenges and you will see that the progression system is not to bad at all.
Not to mention that all the DLC will be free, a bucket load of which will be released in December along with the new movie (including another story line for SP).
Me thinks this game is a good deal.

Stop hating and start playing people!

Just a clarification too, the game itself is **** incredible. Genuinely near on par with the 2005 Battlefront 2. I will not give this game even a 1 due to this greed that is corrupting the industry.

You cannot charge £50 for a pay to win, unbalanced game with constant insentive to buy loot crates, and they even lowered rewards for completing the campaign. If they wanted to "create a game for the fans" there wouldn't be locked heroes, and perhaps you'd get the campaigns hero as a reward.

The story was lack luster and unengaging along with what seemed incomplete gameplay however it was reasonably fun, and engaging in some big battles was memorable which is a shame as a lot will forget it due to the EA side of the game. The multiplayer was unbalanced and felt like a repetitive grind after an arduous few hours, trying all game modes and all unbalanced classes, along with not being able to play as some iconic heroes due to the loot system requiring you to not only save for heroes but power ups as well. Moreover people can simply buy these power ups so it is in no way satisfying playing and saving for them, as someone could have just bought their way to having better gear than you.

Save your money, do not buy this. If you do, in other words you are supporting pay to win games, and micro transactions ruining what could have been a fantastic game.

Then a dirty, shady, scumbag of a publisher come along and force in Pay2Win micro transactions in to a full price $60 game and expect people to be OK with it. Then to deal with the fallout about how much of a grind the game was your response is “to give the player a sense of achievement.” Did you really think that would slide. If you are going to be scumbags, own it; accept that you like wring all the money out of customers, that you like to “turn players into payers.” All faith in you has been lost and from this point on until you stop your shady ass business practices I will do the only thing I can do and vote with my wallet. This easily looks like a game that could get me hooked because the previous had alot of problems that made me weary of playing it. EA are not people I pay my money too because I think much of their game design is anti-consumer. While I felt initially interested, that has immediately went up in flames when I saw the trailer introducing star cards then following with loot boxes to get those cards. Move onto the beta time (and I was unable to play but saw streams and videos to get an idea) and now we see that EA has decided to make its game a pay to win model by allowing players to buy boxes of randomized cards to give them stacking effects and advantages over other players. Oh yes you heard me right; a fully priced $60 dollar game is offering you to buy lootboxes that give you random items that are similar to gambling and you can pay to have a potential and clear advantage over others that don't have the time or money to achieve it.

This isn't a Star Wars hate crusade. I love the original trilogy, hated the prequels and thought TFA was good and RO was mediocre, but I am not going to sit by and let this crap infest people. Considering this game is rated Teen that means parents will likely buy this for their kids for Christmas. Star Wars fanatics will buy this game and as we know the fanbase is gigantic and this game alone will be a commercial success, but I implore you to not buy this game. EA are cutting back on some of the points that it takes to get heroes (hours upon hours for a single one?) but the pay to win is still in its clutches. This must be boycotted, downvoted on every post sight, but for the love of god do not threaten anyone's family or themselves. Just use your brains instead of your wallets and not buy this garbage.

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for giving it a 1 instead of a 0 but what can I say? I'm trying to be positive... The game does have decent visuals in some areas at least... That's about it though. Everything else either sucks or REALLY sucks. Like the horrible micro transactions for example.

I'm happy to see the users here on meta critic trash the heck out of this game. I thought they were too nice on CodWWpoo which is also a garbage game.

I wont even bother to explain why the game is garbage in more detail than I already have... It should be obvious to all gamers at this point by now that it's trash. It's so trashy that even gamers like myself who haven't even played the game already know it's trash.

Us gamers have instincts that tell us how bad a game is. You know that feeling where you fear for life when a snake is hissing at you and is rearing it's head back into a position where it's looking like it's going to quickly strike you with a poisonous bite? That's the similar feeling us gamers get when we're holding our wallets whilst thinking about what would happen if we were to buy this crappy game.

You don't have to play a crap video game in order to learn that it's a crap video game. Common sense can easily figure that one out for ya... A little bit of experience in the gaming world and some research about the game is enough to learn how bad it really is. And that's what I have done to see that this micro transaction buffoonery of a game is the devil. A insult to our wallets... A insult to star wars... And most importantly...... A insult to us gamers.

EA died a long time ago and they never were that good to begin with... Now their ghost has risen from the dead and now haunts us with trashy games like this one. Gaming is going through some dark times these days...

This game has no business being $60 plus micro-transactions that give you a statistical game-play advantage over others.

Stay away from this game, spend your money elsewhere to support developers and studios that don't take advantage of their playerbase.

EA has literally destroyed one of my fondest childhood video games. Locking characters behind paywall or ridiculous grind is insane. Lots of people have schedules that don't allow them to grind for hours. I just want to hop on and have fun. This is not what this game is meant to be. A thinly veiled gambling simulator targeted towards young kids with parents credit cards. Borderline illegal and EA has been busy making fake reviews to try to cover this up. Don't buy this game for your kid unless you want to introduce them to gambling

Excellent online action offers hours of Stormtooper-shooting fun, but the so-so campaign stumbles, while cynical loot crates leave a sour taste. [Jan 2017, p.83]

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.

Although game has huge problems with p2w microtransactions, it is still a good and fun gameplay experience with stunning visuals.
