Whether you've played it before or not, the value for money makes this an impressive package. [Christmas 2014, p.76]

The brutal combat, the cops and robbers attitude, the explosive narrative are as entertaining as they were two years ago. And although it of course looks better on the new consoles it doesn’t do the hardware justice.

United Front's game has aged, and not well. Especially when you look at the combat system, you realize how better were some things you played in the last two years. Yet, for those who have missed it (and don't have a PC, even an average one), this edition is a good chance to free roam in Hong Kong and have a fair share of kung fu.

There isn't a good enough reason to double-dip if you played the original, but if you haven't had the pleasure, we'd suggest you Triad it out. [Dec 2014, p.94]

That Sleeping Dogs only receives the slightest of graphical upticks--primarily in textures and fine details--is less a sign of laziness in porting the game to next gen so much as a testament to how well-crafted Sleeping Dogs was to begin with.

It’s adequate, and it’s overpriced especially given the fact that the exact same game is selling for half the cost on PCs.

The Definitive Edition of Sleeping Dogs is first and foremost for new gamers who haven't played the fun original. The extra missions are decent, but more of the same and the graphical improvements, while fine, aren't stunning.

Sleeping Dogs doesn’t change our opinion about the original: this is once again one of the most fun open world games out there. We do mind that after two years, there’s still a lot to improve on. The best version of this game should’ve been much better.

It's almost like the original game, with a better frame rate but also a more expensive tag price. You decide if it's worth it.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition provides a good excuse to get involved with Hong Kong's shady dealings if you haven't already, but a lack of new features makes it difficult to recommend a return trip – at least at full price.

Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic open world game that benefits from the enhanced graphics found in this Definitive Edition. All isn’t well though and a lot of annoying frame rate issues impacts the playability negatively. This remaster is still playable and entertaining, but the normal PC-version is still the best and cheapest way to play Sleeping Dogs.

While it can look nice under the right conditions (usually during well-lit cutscenes or when the sun goes down), Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is the least impressive new-gen remaster I've seen so far. And as somebody who played through the entirety of the game upon its original release, the visual tweaks on offer here did little to convince me that I need to play it, or more importantly pay for it all over again.

    Pros:

    Oks!:
-There is a lot of things to do in the city but they are rarely that interesting
-The melee combat feels sluggish and doesn't compare to Yakuza, a game it takes influence from. The best strategy is to wait and counter attack and when a window of opportunity opens up grab a bad guy and throw him out of it.
-Shooting doesn't control well, it's rigid and the auto aim is goes haywire at times, but when you hop over cover you can slowmo shoot people, adding time to your slowmo when you kill somebody. The cool factor really saves the shooting. When you see a bunch of enemies in plain sight and mow them all down while never breaking slowmo - that's where it's at.

    CONS:
    -Controls are unresponsive at times.
-Graphics are pretty bad for PS4 game but fine by ps3 standards.
-Sometimes missions are a bore to play

    OVERALL:
-An unpolished GTA clone with a unique setting and good enough story to make it worth your time. Also the genre is pretty great so it's got that going for it.

It is not aA poor port with last gen graphics which will disappoint the moment the game starts. First of all do not be confused by its title. It is not a Remastered version but just a really really bad port which for some reason seems worst than its ps3 release. The game is full of glitches from the very beginning and every mission you do will have the same problem. This is not what kind of quality we should be getting for next gen consoles! It almost seems as if the game makers wanted to make more money off this title by giving it next gen release with an art book to hide the shame of it being a terrible port. If you only own a ps4 and want to try it give it a rent. But if you have a ps3 or 360 then buy it for cheap on that, otherwise stay away from this horrible port of a bad graphics game! Full Review »
