The game focused heavily on puzzles scattered throughout the infested city which, in turn, involved quite a bit of back-tracking. The satisfaction comes from putting all of the pieces together as you explore the map and facing dangers that will always put you on the edge of your seat.

Resident Evil 2 excelled over other survival horror games by emphasizing on the never-ending threat(s) that challenge you to manage your equipment and supplies efficiently. Going through certain areas in the game made me question whether it was worth spending my HP or ammo and to me, this is why Resident Evil 2 deserve a 9; aside from the incredible graphics, atmosphere, and story, it makes you actually think about your decisions and the trade-offs that comes with it.

The reason that stops RE2 from getting a 10 is the somewhat poor dialogue that may or may not be too noticeable through protagonists regardless of the great voice performances. In addition to the cliche-esque dialogues, the game also consists of silly plot-holes that can be easily neglected and enjoyed.

I would suggest that having a few more zombies in the police station would have impressed the overall population of the infected city. Having them break through windows or rattling the doors and windows at times would have added to the atmosphere of being one of the few survivors in an infected city.

    Pros:
One of the best looking PS4 games to date
    Great atmosphere
Good story, sticks to the original
    Survival horror at it's finest
    Great locations based on original
Great soundtrack that stays true to original
    Cons:
Some of the original documents and story elements were missing in journals
Would have been nice to have larger areas to explore and venture that were new
More zombies that could come rushing through the windows or wondering the city streets

For a game that requires multiple playthroughs of the same story in a largely linear way, I was surprised just how fantastic and addictive this was. Coupled with the difficulty and having to look at videos, i found this game not just something i sat down mindlessly playing but something I really had to concentrate on. I hadn't played the original so had no nostalgia. This was a new experience for me, one which I thoroughly enjoyed.

    Pros:

I was genuinely scared when travelling down dark corridors - the zombie placements were really good.
The sound is fantastic. This adds to the tension.
If you like going for trophies and following guides, the game will definitely scratch an itch.
Likewise the puzzles can be a real challenge for anyone looking to solve things independently.
The A - B storylines work perfectly together.
Shooting the zombies is really satisfying.

    Cons:

Playing for extended periods of time got exhausting, especially when going for the speedruns.
If you are looking to mow down waves of zombies you will be disappointed because more often than not you will run past them not killing them.
The boss battles can be extremely challenging. On boss took me over an hour, 20-30 attempts to defeat.
Mr X seems to turn up out of the blue at the most annoying points which I understand is to add to the challenge but created moments of extreme rage.

Whilst I got extremely frustrated in places, I have to give this game a 9. It loses a point because it won't be a game that I will sink 1000s of hours into and if I think about the amount of content, there isn't a huge amount. What there is however, is an extremely tightly woven and polished game which plays fantastically well.

Resident Evil 2 Remake or "Re-imagining" as I would call it, brings back the survival horror that the series is know for after three main entries which were more action oriented games. The game uses the same blueprint as the older titles and introduces new elements such as a 3rd person point of view (like after the 4th game) and autosave and so forth while still retaining the tactical element of the older ones such as saving your ammo and not killing every enemy in your way. As comparing to the original the story is about the same some little changes here and there and two playable character scenarios also make a return. Where the game does better than the original is the horror aspect as the generic zombies you've seen in many RE and other games are not just a simple "shoot them in the head and be done with it" no they take a lot more sometimes even a shotgun blast to the head cant kill them instantly so you have to be careful with your shots. I could go on and on about the good things of this game but as a remake this game is a little bit a hit and miss. Let's start with the music. Ok it's not bad I mean it is almost non existent throughout the game I mean there are a few good tracks such as the save room theme and Mr. X's themes but all and all the original soundtrack is much more memorable. Secondly I would like to talk about the enemy types. Well the enemies we get in this are fine. Aside from your typical undead we get mutants who spit poison which makes your characters weaker and need for anti-poisoning healing items, plant zombies or whatever they are that kill you in one hit if you don't have an defensive item on you to escape their grasp, and also zombie dogs. Comparing to the original there aren't so many enemy variations so that bothers me a little but it's a personal opinion I think they tried to make the game more realistic in tone so maybe skip the mutants spiders then, they would've been cool tho. And lastly the A and B scenarios or as in this one they are called "2nd run" which you unlock for the other character after completing the game once with a character. You've probably heard this one if you have read some reviews but yeah this was done better in the original.
Resident Evil 2 2019 is one of the better games in the series and an excellent survival horror game no doubt about that but a few things keep it from being the best RE. The original felt more grander is scale and more full or something I don't know how to say it, but one thing is for sure Resident Evil is back on its feet and slowly stumbling towards the future of survival horror.

Magnificient... not only for hardcore fans but also for new comers. The RE Engine is sublime.
The reasons why I did not give the game a perfect score are two-fold. First, the lack of some cutscenes that were already in the original one. Second, the missed opportunity to create an intertwined scenario with the two protagonists. The choice of scenario A & B is pretty awkward.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

WO KOMMEN DIE HER?!Das nervt.

Remakes and re-releases are all the jazz this day and age, but rarely are they worth you shelling out a full $60 for it. Resident Evil 2 is a shinning exception in the remake world. Capcom took a game many missed out on, and some remember fondly and made a game that functions like a modern game without losing the spirit of the original series.

The story is split up to follow two different character that are going for very similar goals. You can play as either Leon Kennedy the boyband lead singer of Raccoon City or Claire Redfield the little sister to everyone’s favorite boulder punching zombie killer. The stories are similar, but not the exact same so it’ll be favorable to play both and get a feel on who you enjoy playing as more. I played Leon’s story and honestly there isn’t much to it in the cut scene realm of things. Most of the story is told through these documents you pick up and are supposed to read. I personally wouldn’t recommend this game for story but the gameplay.

The gameplay is fantastic… mainly in the beginning. The first part of the game is suspenseful and the zombie killing is very satisfying. My first encounter with a Licker was intense with how they move and will jump at you. The resource management has been made way easy due to the map telling you rooms you need to get stuff and unlimited saving. That being said; I learned early on to not and try and kill every zombie in the game because you will run low on bullets when they count. The game loses me when they introduce Mr. X. He is a unkillable hulking dude in a trench coat who just chases you everywhere in the game. The first two times he appeared it was nerve racking. After that it was tedious, and it turned into a game of tag basically while I tried to solve the puzzles. I lost a lot of enjoyment from the game the moment he was introduced because it was just annoying running away every time he got near. My personal favorite part of the game is how the zombies take damage. You can blow off limbs or when you shoot them in the head the entrance hole is just there. This is a minor thing that I got a major kick out of.

Overall the game is a great horror game that unfortunately lost me with the game of chase. It looks beautiful and the new combat is my favorite the series has ever done. Is it scary? No. Does it has suspense? Hell Yes. I am very mixed on this only because I hated the Mr. X stuff so much but loved the parts without him. I give this game a Full Price still. I think people need to check it out because despite the issue I have I have to admit it is a very solid game.

    Punkte: 92/100

    Pro:

Seriously, Capcom knew what to do in that aspect, but then we have the new soundtrack which is the most forgettable one I have ever heard. Nothing good, even though some people put their hearts and time to create it and I respect that. This game lacks on content to keep me hocked for more than a week. I finished both campaigns and their respective B-scenario and this weird feeling was left inside of me after finishing it. I know some DLC is in our way but they should put that content within the full game, not as a DLC. Still, I’m glad they made this game and hopefully RE3 will get the same treatment as this game. Expand

An excellent walk down memory lane, this re imagining of a classic works well and retains the feel of the original but manages to make it creepier! I didn't think that over the shoulder would work but it did. My only gripe is the somewhat clunky boss battles.

Puzzles are decent and the game is helping to guide you. I love the new map system that help showing icons of items around you and the idea of hip pouch ; item that add more space in your inventory. However, there are two reasons that I deduct the points from 10 to 8

    1. Story - 1st and 2nd scenario have very little differences, and story in both Leon and Claire are not strong enough in my opinion. I think Leon and Claire should have more chances to meet with each others. Story could be more engaging, rather than just a reason for you to go to next location.

2.The price is a little too high for the content. It took me 9 hours to beat Leon and 6.5 hours for Claire. However, for Claire, they mostly use the same locations from Leon. The content is lacking.(There are a lot of backtracking too, so the real value hours in content should be very short,) I think the right price should be 40-50 USD for a remake.

In conclusion, Resident evil 2 remake is a epitome of a game that has amazing quality but poor quantity, unless, you don't mind running the same locations ofc. Still, when I compare this game with Last of us, which is the same genre (and I gave Last of us 10/10) , Resident Evil 2 is clearly not that level yet. I think 8/10 is fair score for RE2 remake. I would love if Capcom add more contents and deepen the story. It is surely intense terrifying game. I have a great time with it, but it is too short for a 60 USD game.

This game has some brilliant moments pushing me forward, but it is overly infuriating in my opinion.
The back tracking also hurts the game, you back track a lot in this one.
This would have been a solid 8 if the game was not so harsh, constantly forcing me to conserve every bullet and if I miss two shots I have to re-do large parts again, if there was not so much back tracking and if the story was more interesting. All the 10 scores out here are probably just people being nostalgic or we got a lot of fanboys out there unwilling to see the glaring issues this game has

I haven't played RE2 close on 20 years now, but what amazes me is how this remake can make me feel just like I felt back then. It is so much better with the modern graphics and gameplay, way better voice acting. I don't mind Leon's new face much and I definitely like the new Claire more. What was fun in 1998 at least from my perspective definitely doesn't mean it is fun in 2019, and even new graphics with different camera won't make it fun, if the gameplay is the same chore of constantly revisiting areas with new items that enable you to progress to a new area that was previously locked, which gets even worse after the first half of the game, because then, as if it wasn'tWhat was fun in 1998 at least from my perspective definitely doesn't mean it is fun in 2019, and even new graphics with different camera won't make it fun, if the gameplay is the same chore of constantly revisiting areas with new items that enable you to progress to a new area that was previously locked, which gets even worse after the first half of the game, because then, as if it wasn't enough already, you are suddenly forced to take detours, and spend more time on the way to an area that you visited 5 times already.

There are some highly impressive things about this remake, like the use of volumetric lighting, the binaural sounds that should be a new standard in games, or even such small details as that amazing intro animation of a trucker eating a burger.

However, when you get over the first two hours, and learn the level design, and the effective way of gameplay, instead of having some feeling of satisfaction from accomplishment in that genre defining constantly increasing survival horror pressure, everything becomes repetitive, boring, and slowly falling into a routine that won't change until the end of the game.

Much of Resident Evil 2’s milieu is created with the benefit of modern technology, of course, with the RE engine flexing its muscle in lighting and detail and binaural audio creating a genuinely spine-chilling soundscape of shuffling footsteps and inhuman shrieks. But key to it is that somewhat lost art of crafting a small, detailed and believably joined-up setting.

But the same good story with tweaks of course. RE2 remake is able to capture the essence of RE2 and translate it to new players and old ones in a new format, this is how a remake should be done.

Story - While nothing too grand, the contained story gives a great sense of satisfaction the longer the game goes on, as you find more information and meet new enemies, you become more excited for the future parts to uncover what is behind the outbreak while dreading it at the same time

Gameplay - the movement, the handling of guns, the footsteps of Mr. X, the use of light (and lack there of), resources, puzzles and the constant threat of zombies coming back to life never become annoying, all of the things combined stress you out, make you paranoid and makes you scared of running and forces you to slow walk as you prepare for incoming doom. It all fits in so well with each other, immersing the player inside of the world.

Sound design - the footsteps and the screeches, the guns and grenades, all of it with perfect sound design behind them, again immersing the player.

Voice acting - all of the voice acting if phenomenal, especially the young version of Leon, where he doesn't sound like an already worn out soldier, just a young enthusiastic boy

The game really makes you be strategic on what rooms you need to visit, and in what order, as you have zombies, lickers, and the Tyrant following you around. You have to be smart about which enemies to take down, so you will have enough ammo to make it through all the bosses towards the end. I would actually give this a 9.5 if I could, but there will a few small things that bothered me. They left out the giant spiders in the sewers, which were in the original, but also added new enemies that were not in the original. I kinda wish they added just a little more extra content, as the campaigns between both Leon and Claire will only get you about 12 hours of gameplay for the main story. For a resident evil game, however, that’s about the norm. Also, there were some minor graphical issues in the lab towards the end, but nothing major. I would honestly say this is the best, and most challenging game in the franchise, close to RE4 for me. Hopefully this is 2019 GOTY, it deserves it! Expand

This game does for Survival horror in 2019 what the original did in the late 90s. I give the score a 10, only because I can't give a 9.5... So I round up.

Modernized where necessary but still true to the original for the most part. It pays respect as often as it can to the original while not disrupting the game much, if at all. This game overall did everything I had hoped it would do

This game overall did everything I had hoped it would do and more. This is how I remember Resident Evil. I can only hope for a Resident Evil 3 remake in the same way soon.

I only have a few negative things I can say about it. Most of which just sort of pay homage to earlier games. Such as being attacked takes a few seconds... but it also raises the tension as any other enemy in the area gets closer and you get the risk of being attacked again.

The inventory can be small, at the same time that goes into the difficulty of survival and thinking before you bring everything with you. So again. Not really a negative as it's the intended design and makes you decide between medicine to heal, weapons, ammo and the key items you need. Also space to pick items up. It's all part of the survival aspect.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok. Let me take you back to my memory lane of how it begun my love with this franchise....
Ironically it was with RE2 for the ps1 back on 1998 and after putting the disk in my old ps1 everything in my life changed.
I was in love with this game, i was so much in love and obsessed that i beat it after the first day of having it. It was/is a masterpiece and then it begun my research of the franchise....
I backtracked playing RE1 which aside of having worst graphics i still loved the game so much and felt even more terrifing that RE2 being in the old decrepit Spencer Mansion.
Then i played RE3:N and loved it so much all the new little things they added to it and still felt like a survival horror game done right. Nemesis was freaking awesome. Following you everywhere you went. Making feeling you NOT SAFE ANYWHERE. Another masterpiece.
Then i bought the Sega Dreamcast specifically to play RE:CV which i loved to the death (one of my favorites).
Then it came RE0 & Remake for the gamecube (which Re: Remake for me is the best Remake of all time) and i was jumping with joy of how well done both games where made.
And then came RE4. Which it was a very good game but it wasn`t a "classic RE", It was more action oriented and didn`t even had one jump scare or dread sensation in the entire game. Yes is a masterpiece but IS NOT A CLASSIC RESIDENT EVIL in all the sense of the word.
Then i bought my 360 (The Resident Evil 5 Bundle), and it was not only more of the same (regarding of RE4) but worst in a lot of points.
Then i played Resident Evil Revelations in my 3DS and loved the new direction they took the franchise but it still felt halfway through of what i wanted to expect from it or putting it simply in words what i wanted from a survival horror using the new camera and game mechanics. Still good but with a lot of room for improvements.
Then it came RE6 and OH MY GOD......What my beloved Capcom did to my franchise !? I was so angry, mad and i felt even more sad knowing that this game was still better than RE5 in a lot of ways.
That was the point when me (as a franchise fan) gave up on Capcom & Resident Evil. I felt so dissapointed by them that i knew the franchise was dead (at least at that time and for me).
Then it came RE: Revelations 2 which is fun, more horror but still had a lot of action and i felt it was not better than Revelations 1 but worst in almost every aspects. So i was like a drifter or hobo looking for shelter for my survival horror needs in other franchises that brought me joy but weren`t near in my heart as Resident Evil was. So i played my Dead Spaces, Fatal Frames, Silent Hills, etc.
Then i read that Capcom was making RE7 coming back to "the roots of horror again" so with the little hope i had left in my poor broken heart (blame that to Capcom & all RE games after Code Veronica) i bought and played Resident Evil 7 in my PS4. Loved the game, didn`t liked so much the first person view, i`m mora a third person fan but still a good game......BUT IT WAS NOT RESIDENTE EVIL in all the sense that word means. It had nothing to do with the main story/lore of the saga but still i felt that Capcom were trying to come back to the roots of what a true resident evil game should be.
And here we are now. You, me and my words after finishing my full playthrough of Leon(1) & Claire(2) and all i can say is this.....
    THANK YOU SO MUCH CAPCOM.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LISTEN TO YOUR FANS.
AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE THAT YOU PUT IN THIS GAME.
Still not perfect, i had some issues with it. Mainly with Ada playthought. SPOILERS: I hated that Scan Gun and everything that came with it. It cuts the pace of the entire game and it feels out of place in a story that is in 1998.
Aside of that minor concern everything else i perfect and how i dreamed (for years) of how it should be.
Now if there anyone from Capcom reading this, this is something i want to share with you of how i think you (Capcom) in general should approach the future games of the franchise:
    1. Now that the engine (RE: Engine) is done and some assests of RE2: Remake will be used again in the remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis meka sure the game has the same felling that this Remake had.
    2. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
    3. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil 0.
    4. Then proceed with the same treatment to Resident Evil 1 Remake.
    5. And then if you have the resorces and time Proceed with RE4, 5 & 6 but make them more survival horror than action and also redo all the story making it more coherent with the events of the previous games.
That is all, i hope you enjoyed the game as much a i did and can`t wait to pre-order Resdient Evil 3: Nemesis Remake !!!!
    AGAIN......
    THANK YOU CAPCOM !!!
I LOVE YOU......WITH ALL MY HEART & I MEAN IT.

The game design takes RE4's basics while 'modernizing' it, taking out/reducing the interplay that was present in RE4. Which makes RE2:Remake essentially a precision shooter/survival horror hybrid.

I enjoyed it, but nothing stands out as particularly exceptional in any genre except for a few technical feats and interesting ideas. Even compared to other Resident Evil games.

I expected no less than Resident Evil remake level of polish and production and this absolutely delivered it. Each character campaign last about 6-7 hours. Some may say it's too short, but I'd rather have a short but amazing experience that keeps me coming back, than play something that drags on for 20 hours or so and never look back to it again.

I have just a single complain about that Tyrant (Mr. X) that keeps chasing you for a great portion of the game. I know he's there to build tension and it works well at first, but starts to get annoying when you're trying to concentrate on a puzzle solving or exploring the environment and then this f* comes and forces you to run and abort everything you're doing. It doesn't really damage the game and you get used to it, but I can't help feeling annoyed by his constant presence.

Apart from that, it's the masterpiece Resident Evil fans were waiting for and one of the best games of this generation. Can't wait for RE3 e Code Veronica remakes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You did a wonderful job Capcom. You managed to give new life to a masterpiece, and this is a rarity. As a RE and a horror videogame in general, it won everything.
But, I have to say that making us do the same puzzles again in scenario 2, with the same boss battles and etc, wasn't a good idea. Furthermore, the story of Leon can't mix properly with the background's story. There is no point for him to fight Birkin. I'm not pleased with scenario 2 at all(and Leon's story in general), it felt like a waste of time, more like a way to extend the longevity of the game.

If I should give a feedback, how I would have done it and what I would love to see one of these months, is one more "canon" scenario(fixed in Claire 1, Leon 2), where Leon doesn't need to do the same things Claire did. He should just be a witness of Claire's doing, with all the puzzles solved and all Birkin's battles avoided.
You should just put the two electronic parts in the rooms exclusive to Leon, make him find the medikit that he uses on Ada(that currently is coming from nowhere)and make Leon meet Annette while she is preparing the solution to weaken Birkin(or maybe let him read one of her documents about the truth on Ada, or let her speak with him trough the speaker), without Ada being shot. Lastly, put more enemies for Leon to fight. The zapping system should return too, allowing him to access to all Claire's items stored in the box, excluding her weapons. This way there are less puzzles but a more challenging quest. The scenario is not too long, but it would be a bonus to what the game already offers.

I do think the puzzles were a bit too easy; you'd know where to use it immediatly - the trip there, however, might be the challange of it. But it did keep the pacing at a constant rate, which was good.

The OTS view is excellent. Any other scheme would most likely break the game/immersion. Tank controls would absolutely have ruined it.

The game engine is fantastically optimized, running heavy environment details and atmospheric effects at a AAA level at all times in densly populated areas - if you disagree, do learn more about game engines, what "costs" in rendering, and cross-platform pitfalls in general. Go for PC version if you're a GFX whore, or PS4 (base/pro) for still awesome gfx, and the good 'ol controller.

All in all, the most complete horror game to date - excited for more, and please go for RE3 next! Or any new RE game with the same play-style and atmosphere.

With the success of Resident Evil 7 bringing the series back to it’s horror roots I couldn’t be more excited to see how Resident Evil 2 can continue that momentum. The last time Capcom remade a Resident Evil was with the original back during the Gamecube and that game was not only amazing but, it felt like it did the original justice and then some. I was a little disappointed to find out that Resident Evil 2 would be a 3rd person shooter instead of going back to tank controls like the first REmake. Finally having the chance to play and beat Resident Evil 2 Remake; I love the continuing use of horror in the series. I also really love how much at home I felt playing this game.

Resident Evil 2 story revolves around Leon Kennedy, a Raccoon City Police Officer and Claire Redfield, sister of Chris Redfield from the original game. Both characters have just arrived to Raccoon City unaware of the zombie outbreak that has taken place and now they have to find a way to survive the zombies apocalypse. If you have played the original game, then you know the story beats of this game. There really isn’t anything new added to the story other than the fact that the characters are portrayed better and by the end of the game you end up really caring about all of these characters even the side characters. For me Claire has always been my favorite Resident Evil character and behind her is Leon and this game made me appreciate them more and I couldn’t ask for anything more.

At first I was disappointed this game wasn’t going to play with tank controls but, luckily I was fine with it in the end because it reminded me of the Revelation games. The only difference is that in those games you can clear out zombies in those games if you wanted to but, in this game they are bullet sponges. Even if you shoot them in the head some of them will still be moving. The only way to get satisfying headshots in this game is with a heavy weapon like a Shotgun or Magnum. This game’s inventory system is pretty much the same one used in Resident Evil 7 so as you explore Resident Evil 2 you should find extra pouches in order to carry more things in your inventory. The key to surviving in Resident Evil 2 comes down to how you want to handle certain rooms will you leave zombie alive and only take out their legs so they won’t run after you or will you clear a room because you know that you will be revisiting certain areas.

The best thing about Resident Evil 2 is that this game captures the horror element perfectly with its environment and sound designs. Every time I was in a dark room it got to me because I knew what was in the room whether it be a zombie or a licker it was intimidating. Seeing how it takes a lot to take down zombies this time around, this is where the sound makes a real impact because you can just hear the zombies steps, lickers crawling, and worst of all the heavy footsteps of the mighty Tyrant. The first time I saw the Tyrant I almost got a heart attack. When I thought I could take him down, he would throw a mighty swing at me and it was at that moment when I knew bullets weren’t gonna help me this time. And while you can escape from the Tyrant, this is where now more than ever you need to stay quiet meaning you better not sprint, encounter zombies, or shoot bullets otherwise the Tyrant will know where you are. Everytime I could hear the Tyrant’s steps I would get goosebumps because he can be anywhere nearby and all I can hope for is for him to walk away from where I am.
Resident Evil 2 REmake is everything I wanted it be and while my first playthrough of the game lasted about 6 hours and later that number would decrease when I tried out Leon’s campaign and what was once 6 hours turned to 4 ½ hours. And as for the 2nd run they took less time because at that point I knew the layout of Resident Evil 2 so exploring became simple and the puzzles weren’t too difficult even with the change up. The best outcome of this game was the fact that I grew to like the cast of Resident Evil 2 more in this game which I appreciated. The most important question for me would the remake make it so I never want to play the original game. The only reason why I thought about this was because while I can still enjoy the original Resident Evil, the fact of the matter is the remake of Resident Evil 1 is so good that I don’t really want to play the original version anymore. I thought the same would happen to Resident Evil 2 but, with the remake not even using Tank controls I thought both games are the same but, play so differently that if a scenario were to happen where I can either play the remake or the original I would feel like there is no wrong answer. Both games are great and I can’t go wrong with either which is great because now I have two version of Resident Evil 2 that I can go back to.

    - combat is deeply broken, RE2 level of difficulty does not translate into this game, basically you can't do anything without being overwhelmed by the game difficulty. It's just stupid (I can easily beat original RE2 almost blindfolded...). They played their Dark Souls card here to dodge any criticism at the poor execution.

    - to reiterate, I had no issues at all with RE2 control scheme, it was perfect. This stupid over the shoulder view makes the game unplayable.

    - in original RE2 you could kill zombies, here you can't, no matter what. Which basically means you need to run like crazy through the whole level, skipping everything, reading nothing and using an online guide to solve puzzles, because you can't collect the various clues.

    - pixel-perfect precision is required in aiming. Which basically means it's impossible to kill anything, because you have to aim at the head, which is basically impossible with a console controller. I don't care what people say about this, in RE2 you could aim at the head, here you simply can't. Almost 20 years later and you can't aim at the head of an enemy, it's simply ridiculous.

    - graphics and audio are ok, the only thing really.

badly executed game, they just thrown in a bunch of assets from RE7 and pushed the difficulty level to 11, so they can create artificial gameplay and people will play the "git gud" card to avoid criticism.

Games like this should never even be allowed on the market, it's a scam, pure and simple.

Stay away from this and invest your money in real games. Capcom is doing everything possible to kill this franchise, really.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is quintessential Resident Evil and does the original justice.

Gameplay is everything fans have been asking for with enough tweaks to make the game feel like a new experience. Zombie limbs can be shot off, Lickers are terrifying again, and Mr. X has a more imposing presence than the original. Zombie mechanics have been overhauled, and they are more dangerous than they've ever been before.

The return of defense items and gun powder are welcome additions to the game. With Gun Powder first being present in Resident Evil 3, and defense items making their debut in Resident Evil Remake. Their inclusion pays homage to a time where these two concepts were groundbreaking on their own.

In stark contrast of the more action-oriented entries in the series, gameplay feels claustrophobic and terrifying. Ammo scarcity brings back the feeling of classic horror. Puzzles retain characteristics of their origins back in 1998, but are different enough that players of the original will not be able to breeze through unchallenged.

All in all, a masterpiece of a game. But more importantly, a reminder that CAPCOM has not forgotten its roots.

The nostalgia factor is huge with the release of Resident Evil 2 (Remake). The fans have clamored for this ever since the fantastic remake release of the original game back on GameCube in 2002. It may have taken almost a decade to arrive, but I'm glad they took their time. This game is amazing!

First and foremost, the graphics are spectacular. Utilizing the full power of the current gen consoles, this game runs so smooth. The level of detail in the environments, especially the police station, really make it so you want to take your time as you explore that death trap. I also found myself taking aim at the various creatures in defense but waiting to pull the trigger because I was amazed at the realism of their animations. When you play, notice how fluid the zombies move and take note at how their mouths move with every terrifying groan. It's amazing. Just don't stare too long or you'll end up with a high death count by the game's end.

This game is a true re-imaging of the original. Without going in to any detail, they have taken the most significant parts of Leon and Claire's original story, tweaked a few details, and produced a streamlined experience that will feel familiar and different at the same time. It's great knowing that while they didn't stray too far from the story and game-play of the original, it's just different enough that you don't feel like you're playing the exact same game 20 years later. They did a great job with the remake of the first Resident Evil and kept that same thought process with this game.

This game almost got a 9 due to the length of the campaigns. I have only finished the main scenario of one character and was shocked by the completion time. I finished the campaign in under 10 hours which was a bit disappointing when you think of other games that have main stories that take anywhere from 15-20 hours to finish. The score went back to a 10 when I rationalized that the replayability of this game is massive. Each character has their own main campaign that may take roughly 10 hours to complete, plus each have a "2nd Run" campaign which will show you what Character B was doing while you were playing the main campaign for Character A. If those side scenarios take even half the time of the main campaigns to beat you are looking at a 30 hour experience, at least. And there's a good chance you didn't find everything during your first play-through, so chances are you will tackle the campaigns again in short order.

Resident Evil has been my favorite video game series since its debut. These remakes have definitely revitalized my interest after a few missteps with the previous titles. Capcom scored a home run with this game in my opinion. Now is the time to begin the petition for an RE3 and Resident Evil Outbreak remake. If RE2 turned out this great I can't wait to see what they will have in store with future Resident Evil remakes.

RE2 been one of my favourite games of all time. This is a worthy remake. I read some of the "0" reviews here. They have clearly not played the original game. This is not a modern shooter you can go gun blazing. Limited ammo and careful approach is the key elements.
    I love this game.

The atmosphere of horror is overwhelming and proves that in 2019 there is a place for a Resident-like story in which the modern visuals heighten and not lessen the fear. It’s the best Resident Evil ever. [03/2019, p.40]

The stunning graphics, incredible survival horror combat and wonderfully eerie setting make picking up a copy of Resident Evil 2 a no-brainer.

Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful recreation of a believed original that, not only recaptures the glory of that game, but also improves upon it from a visual and gameplay standpoint. All in all, don’t miss out on this one.
