    I still remember, the day I got a copy of RE2 on pc I happen to get home and family was out for the rest of the afternoon. You wont believe the jump scares I got from it. Specially on the first time the zombie dog jump through the window on the hallway. I loved the puzzles, and the atmosphere created by the sounds of your steps, made you feel you were in danger at every second. I have to say this new version, surpassed my expectations, I loved I was able to play one of my all time favorites, in a different person view, and with an improved inventory, and shooting. Only down was that it felt too short. Wish I had more new areas we didn't have in the original. Like expand the city a bit more. But I'm happy we got this treat of a game.… Expand

    Lack of zapping system in remake which cause missing the B scenario in the original edition. The map of the lab can be better. However these flaws won't affect that I will give this game a 10 out of 10.

Ich konnte es leider nie lange spielen, weil es einfach zu unheimlich war. Ich bin mir nicht mehr ganz sicher, aber die erste Ingame Cutszene in der ein Glatzköpfiger Zombi an einer Leiche nagt ist mir immer noch schwer im Magen. Das war 1996 und ich war 16. Heute bin ich 43 und spiele das Remake vom Resident Evil 2. RE2 Classic erschien eigentlich 1998 und spielt nicht im Evil Resident sondern im Evil Racoon City. Die Seuche ist ausgebrochen und die Stadt geht vor die Hunde. Als Leon oder Claire kämpft und rätselt man sich durch 4-5 Gebiete die fast alle in guter alter MetroidVania Tradition miteinander verbunden sind. Backtracking ist also für Progress erforderlich. Das erste was man feststellt ist, dass technisch wirklich viel Arbeit und Geld das Spiel gesteckt wurde. Mein Gott sieht das gut aus. Tolle Licht und vor allem zur Stimmung beitragende Schatteneffekte. Feuchte Oberflächen glitzern wunderschön und Schleim und Blut (was bei diesem Spiel durchaus wichtig ist) sieht wunderbar ekelhaft aus. Generell sind die Goreeffekte sehr gut. Animation von Zombies und anderem NPCs sind gelungen. Die Optik ist also ausnahmslos wirklich toll umgesetzt. Was aber im Soundbereich geleistet wurde ist wirklich fantastisch. Es ist so bedrückend wenn man das Schlurfen und stöhnen eine Zombies hört, ihn aber nicht sieht. Alle Gegnersounds sind irgendwie auf diese Art und Weise verstöhrend bis unheimlich.Man ist ständig von Angst geprägt und nervös. Das absichtlich sehr träge Zielsystem und der weniger agile Character tragen noch dazu bei. Ständig lugt man vorsichtig um Ecken und prüft ob Leichen am Boden nicht evtl. doch wieder aufstehen könnten. Angst und vor allem Panik machen sich vor allem dann breit, wenn der Munitionsvorrat zur neige geht. Und das wird immer wieder unweigerlich passieren, denn Munition selten. Die Story kennt man und ich will nicht näher drauf eingehen. Es sei erwähnt, dass es eben RE ist und man da keine Wunder erwarten sollte. Weder in der Art wie erzählt wird, noch in der Ausarbeitung der Protagonisten. Allenfalls 90er Jahre Acitonniveau darf erwartet werden. Dennoch hat es mich unterhalten und ich wollte bis zum Schluss wissen was als nächstes passiert. Deswegen habe ich mich überzeugen lassen, dass Spiel nochmal durchzuspielen, Vor allem auch, weil ein zweiter Durchgang tatsächlich in abgewandelter Form vom Spiel angeboten wird. Soll heißen die Story und RE typischen Rätsel sind leicht abgewandelt. Man kommt in Gebiete die im ersten Durchgang nicht erreichbar waren. Das ist zumindest nett. RE2 Remake hat mir wirklich großen Spaß gemacht. Ich kann es wirklich empfehlen. Ein seht gutes Remake.… Expand

    It feels like this game was made for me, its not going to be everyone's cup of tea but this is a great introduction to survival horror if you have yet to jump in.

    Story is simple and thank god for that, no great morels beside helping people and zombies/umbrella = bad. This is Resident Evil, story comes second or not at all.

    Characters like the story are simple but receive just enough developmental to feel more then one dimensional Resident Evil characters. Its also fun seeing baby face Leon and Clair who are just great as the protagonists.

    No Ludonarrative Dissonance here, I find it very distracting when the story and game play tones thematically don't match. RE2 pulls this off with the threat feeling real in both cut scenes and in game. Its a small thing but your character model becomes more damaged as the game goes on, really helps to connect the cut scenes and game play.

    Mr X is awesome

    Very repayable, first time you a just making it through by the skim of your teeth, 2nd you are much more confident and can get through with a lot more ease and 3rd, 4th and 5th times you are going for speed runs for unlocks but you never disrespect the common zombie because they are always a threat.

    The different scenarios are fun and have enough different item locations to feel fresh

    The Bad:
    I do find it odd that Leon and Clair's scenarios don't cross over at all, this was a feature of the original but is completely absent here. A missed opportunity.

    One exception to the Ludonarrative Dissonance rule is that the main characters can take a few bites in game but in cut scenes one bite a death sentence, oops.

    Conclusion:
    Resident Evil fans have had to put up with some BS in the past but with RE2 remake and the great RE7 a few years back RE is back and Capcom is on a winning streak. I personally cannot wait for RE8, might just be the only reason I buy a PS5......

    I’m really Surprised this is the best remake I’ve ever played it’s super stunning and give you the same feeling as the old game but in Super Development in Graphics and gameplay Without cutting anything from the old one.

    Disappointing that Capcom have cut the B scenarios, there is a 2nd run that you can play with some remixed puzzles and item placement however the story is the same as your previous 1st run. Where this really causes issues is that the Leon and Claire scenarios don't compliment each other. Also the loss of the marshalling yard loses a link to RE0

Years later I finally decided to tackle it as I'm older but to my realization, this game still makes me poop my pants, thanks to Mr. X. What capcom did to bring basically remake this game with the same story and settings but throw in current engine was nothing short but amazing. Playing both Leon and ClaireI remember my cousin playing the original on the N64 and was scared half to death. Years later I finally decided to tackle it as I'm older but to my realization, this game still makes me poop my pants, thanks to Mr. X.     This game is so good it set a new standard for future RE games. The only nitpicks I have is the characters should be able to run faster - even for a short period of time - and turn on and off the flashlight at will. Everything else is almost perfect.

    It’s been a long time since I played a decent horror survival zombie game, this game actually had me on edge and mr X was an absolute nightmare and I was always hoping to not meet him! Solid game with good replay ability

    If Resident Evil 7 hasn't proved to you that the franchise still has a lot to offer in terms of horror. Than the RE2 remake definitely will. With so much replayability, and some of the best graphics and gore I've ever seen in a horror game. This truly deserves to be called best video game remake ever.

    10 - áudio design. 10 - gameplay. 10 - fator replay. 10 - história. 10 - gráficos. Foi um game que me fez vender Re3 RMK. Porém o RE3 me fez questionar RE 4 RMK. Re4 RMK só comprarei lançamento se não caparem horas de jogo.

    Este juego es una oda al survival horror y al cine de antaño de george romero, donde coge clara influencia, los puzzles están muy bien diseñados donde habrá partes que te requerirá mucho esfuerzo, la sensación de inferioridad es constante, la falta de recursos, el numero de zombies en algunas zonas, la movilidad tosca pero muy bien diseñada o los combates contra jefes donde el diseño esEste juego es una oda al survival horror y al cine de antaño de george romero, donde coge clara influencia, los puzzles están muy bien diseñados donde habrá partes que te requerirá mucho esfuerzo, la sensación de inferioridad es constante, la falta de recursos, el numero de zombies en algunas zonas, la movilidad tosca pero muy bien diseñada o los combates contra jefes donde el diseño es imponente, su mayor punto fuerte es tyran donde es realmente ahí cuando sentimos el terror y eso combinado con los pasillos estrecho y con falta de iluminación en la comisaría donde realmente te transmite esa sensación y te obliga a saber al dedillo todo el mapa y saber en que zonas es mas probable que haya zombies donde un conjunto de 3 o 4 puede ser realmente retador, el apartado técnico es una autentica brutalidad el re engine funciona perfectamente y damos gracias al ver algo así tan bien optimizado, los efectos de sonidos son perfectos y te ayuda tanto como te temoriza, la historia es simple a principio donde adquiere mucha fuerza esta sensación de terror, pero luego se esperpentica en su sentido literario, donde se da pie a un sentido más de acción, si te gusta la sensación de miedo y no sustos aleatorios, el survival horror este titulo es obligatorio en tu biblioteca, podemos decir que es un clásico inmediato por lo bien que ha llevado la influencia del anterior y como lo ha mejorado en ciertos sentidos, pero esto no quita que tenga algo malo y es la incoherencia que exudes entre las campañas a y b, donde cambia por así decirlo 4 cosas y te venden en si la misma historia que has jugado anteriormente, aunque al no ser un juego extremadamente largo y bien realizado no te duele del todo volver a repetir esas historias y puedes disfrutar los cambios realizados.… Expand

The horror starts out strong and genuine but the game deserves commendation for recognizing the point where the horror starts to drop off and the game instead embraces a hardcore action packed style. The transition is rock-solid and is key to any survival horror game that wants to emphasize this much combat.

    The plethora of side-modes and challenge runs, as well as regular online challenges via RE.net is a great nod to hardcore fans that are going to stick with this game for years. RE2's Remake is proof that remakes are not always cash grabs with no merit or luster. We need more remakes like this, the only reason it is NOT a 10/10 is the pretty bad handling of the story elements.     CAPCOM is definitely one of my favorites gaming companies right now, they knocked this remake out of the park, best remake in years.
    Everything about this game is awesome, i had blast playing through it both Leon and Claire campaigns and the extra modes.

    Excellent game, one of the best of the Resident Evil series. They managed to make this remake enjoyable for both new players and fans of the original. The small tweaks on the story and gameplay were perfectly executed. It's a game where you just want to play it several times.

    I have never played any resident evil game prior to this one and this was one hell of an introduction. No hand holding, excellent pacing and the first game to actually scare me. One of the few remakes that's actually good if not better than the original. 10/10

    This is EXACTLY how remakes should be handled. Resident evil 2 is a masterpiece of horror. The puzzle solving, the terrifying atmosphere, the polished gameplay and Mr. X all make this an absolute must play. This quickly became my favorite entry in the franchise.

    A great game and how Resident Evil games should be done, however the 2nd playthrough with Claire is a bit stupid as you go over ground already covered by Leon, yet the story is meant to run simultaneously, which knocks the score down for me.

    Favorite game of 2019. A remake done correct, keeping true to the original while feeling modernized and refreshed. Bosses are fantastic, characters are entertaining and it’s puzzles are solid. Mr. X is done perfectly and always manages to scare the sneeze out of me.

    My first RE game. I really liked it. Looked and played great. A great intro to the franchise for me and I look fwd to playing the eventual RE4 remake as well as the next main installment, RE8.

No solo aporta al apartado visual del original, sino que transporta toda esa atmósfera tenebrosa que en nuestra niñez sentimos con el original. La primera campaña nos hará investigar cada rincón de los escenarios, sorprendiéndonos con cada detalle y enfrentamiento, y aunque la segunda vuelta sea menos impactante, noResident Evil 2 es todo lo bueno que puedes esperar de un buen remake. No solo aporta al apartado visual del original, sino que transporta toda esa atmósfera tenebrosa que en nuestra niñez sentimos con el original. La primera campaña nos hará investigar cada rincón de los escenarios, sorprendiéndonos con cada detalle y enfrentamiento, y aunque la segunda vuelta sea menos impactante, no deja de mantenernos atentos a que pasara a continuación.     La conclusion final es que estamos de frente a un juego que fue muy bien realizado, pulido, mejorado, hay por ahí algunas criticas sobre que capcom pudo haber profundizado mas en los vacios en la historia que hay, pero bueno, estamos ante un remake del 2, y en el 2 esos vacios estan por lo tanto no estaban obligados a rellenar ese espacio, quizas se esten guardando algun otro juego en elLa conclusion final es que estamos de frente a un juego que fue muy bien realizado, pulido, mejorado, hay por ahí algunas criticas sobre que capcom pudo haber profundizado mas en los vacios en la historia que hay, pero bueno, estamos ante un remake del 2, y en el 2 esos vacios estan por lo tanto no estaban obligados a rellenar ese espacio, quizas se esten guardando algun otro juego en el que rellene los vacios que hay en la historia de la saga.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Completé su versión clásica más de 80 veces en PC durante mi adolescencia. Han logrado una buena adaptación, expandiendo satisfactoriamente los escenarios para darle esa continuidad fluida, ahora que no hay tiempos de carga entre puertas.

    Aunque se echa en falta algo de puzzles y, en menor medida, algunos enemigos clásicos, las criaturas G, o los lickers son muy duros de pelar, por lo que no eclipsa el entretenimiento. Su modo hardcore está deliciosamente bien llevado. Los extras (gratuitos, una joya a día de hoy), dan un margen de desafío bueno, y ver a 5 "tofus" ha sido una pasada. El DLC de la banda sonora es muy barato, y mejoró otro aspecto que me pareció flojo (aunque aquí me pega la nostalgia en el corazoncito). Lo recomiendo mucho más que la re-imaginación que hicieron de la tercera entrega.

    El principal punto negativo que he de exponer, es que el clásico "zapping system" ahora está ausente, lo que afecta a la continuidad. Pero por entretenimiento y desafío está muy a la altura. Como fan de la saga le daría un 9, dentro de su género (juego de ciclo corto de 3 h cuando ya te lo has pasado, en las siguientes rondas), aunque no alcanza ni en broma a pesos pesados como God Of War, RDR2, Bloodborne, Sekiro, The Witcher 3... ojo, que sigue siendo muy disfrutable.    … Expand

    Definitivamente uno de os juegos mas influyentes de la década. Una vuelta a survival horror clásico, pero reinventado, combinando técnicas jugables actuales y un apartado gráfico espectacular (gracias a la tecnología de RE Engine) con la historia que nos apasionó muchos años atrás.

    I'm not gonna compare it to the classic. It's a good game. You'll be entertained for the next ten hours or so. But I expected a different campaign for each of the characters and it wasn't like that at all. A game that if you find it under 20 euros, it's good for a weekend.

    everything is top notch, the ambient, the audio, the mechanics. I was surprised that almost all the game I was lacking health, ammunition, etc ... but everything was doable, it felt like a TRUE survival horror not cheap in any way.

    This is really good game and also very good Resident Evil game.it's core gameplay is what resident evil is all about in my eyes.     My personal favorite game of 2019. The gameplay and graphics/zombie deterioration are gorgeous. This is a must play for any survival horror fan.

The police station is the best part, since traversing through its dark halls and managing the "Mr.X Factor" becomes the highlight of the entire thing. On the sewers, thngs get a bit weird, but the interconected environments makes up for it. The pacing quickly gets back up when you reach the lab and the ending is just as incredible as it was on the PS1. Everything here feels fresh and new, yet extremely faithful to the original. I love how they kept the intensity of the combat system, forcing you to always be aware of your surroundings and always hope for more bullets and health items, while having just enough to get by.
    If you played the OG, you'll get a nostalgia trip, while drowning in the many surprises and twists that the campaign throws on you.

    The gameplay is good, albeit VERY difficult. I still don't think they managed to capture the magic of the "over the shoulder camera" as well as in RE4 or RE5, but what they did here was amazing. Backtracking doesn't feel as boring as in the original and its actually a fun and fundamental part of the game. Puzzles are fine and the "AHA!" moments make you look like a genius, even if things just happened naturally. I just wish it had less puzzles. It can break the ominous mood, sometimes.

    One thing that bothered me: I'm not in love the story. It suffers from the same problem that the first Remake did. I know that RE always had that "B-Horror-Movie" feel to it and I appreciate that it does that with quality, but couldn't they just... fix this? I LOVE the characters, but the writing feels bland! Claire and Leon's interactions were better on the original because there are almost none in here. Maybe it's the fact that OG handled the differences between A & B runs better.
    Also, this game is dark. Intentionally dark, but TOO DAMN DARK!

    As for the extras, I liked them, but not all of them. The Tofu and Hunk's scnenario were fun but Ghost Survivors just felt objectivelly hard, for no reason. I feel like these modes would've worked better if they added new crowd control movesets, like in RE4. But anyway, it's more RE2 and that's great!

    This one might be the scariest game I've ever played and one of the best Remakes ever. It made me love the franchise even more. Despite a few hiccups, this is a MUST PLAY!    … Expand

    Thank you for making this so much. It was. Ton of fun to play.....the only reason I took a point off was because I found the DLC to be lack luster. I don’t want a bunch of time trials, I want stories to enjoy at my own pace.

    This game is probably the best remake of all time as of now, but that does not change the fact that it is a remake. I am not a fan of survival horror where you can shoot things, I am more stressed about limited inventory space and lack of ammo than the "scary" things in the game. Less enemies and more puzzles or set pieces would probably make for a game I greatly enjoy

    I loved the orignal, but this is so good ! The atmosphere is way too good and scary, the graphics are awesome, and the gameplay it's just perfect. a truely welcome back for the King of survival horror !

    I really liked that many things remained similar to the old Resident Evil 2. Beautiful game, very nice but simple puzzles. Mister X puts too much anxiety.

    Great game! I went back to play it after the HORRIBLE RE3 Remake. This is the amount of content we should have for $60, not a 5-hour campaign with a repeated boss fight.

    It is truly rare that a legendary game gets such a deserving complete remake that is outstanding and remarkable. From start to finish it grips you and throws you around but you keep strafing and shooting your way through the RE world. Everyone who loves zombies and gore should play this!

Hell, you probably don't even have to read this....you already KNOW this game is absolutely without a shadow of doubt a masterpiece in survival horror. One of the easiest "10's" I have given out in recent memory. That is all that is required of me to say. RE is backWhat can I truly say here that hasn't been said already???     Great graphics and design, i like game play but the worst thing in this game dark, too dark i try to adjuste display setting but not still same problem dark, also i don't like this 2n run game It should be two senarios.

    Why couldn't they just do what they did with RE1 remake except give it the over the shoulder camera and better controls... why do head shots not count more than leg shots? If you absolutely love RE then go 4 it, but this game disappointed me by far. If you want to shoot legs off zombies and run around the whole game to avoid the crawlers have fun! I wanted to rate it a 3 haha

Not only the new engine makes the game look absolutely amazing, but everything in the game (sounds, music, dialogue, background, etc.) is carefully controlled to ensure a survival horror experience worthy of the title. Both campaigns are very well remade,Resident Evil 2 done again? Yes, and just like with the Remake of the original RE, Capcom hits it out of the park easily with this one.     Un asco la verdad... Capcom no sabe ni hacer remakes. Deberían de aprender de Activision. Ellos si saben hacer remakes FIELES al material original como corresponde como el Crash N Sane Trilogy...     the game looks and plays great. the only gripe i have with it is the way mr x follows in real time throughout the police station. it takes away from the original feel as it is it just way too constant. i also find the game to be short for 2020

So, finding out that the Resi2 remake would be an over the shoulder affair ala RE4 I was already ready to throw my cash at this thing. Seeing the glowing reviews I just took the plunge. After all, even the worst RE game is worth getting at £15 on sale. Initially I was struck by the graphics andHonestly, I've been a huge RE fan as far back as the original game. I'm 38. You do the math. So, finding out that the Resi2 remake would be an over the shoulder affair ala RE4 I was already ready to throw my cash at this thing. Seeing the glowing reviews I just took the plunge. After all, even the worst RE game is worth getting at £15 on sale. Initially I was struck by the graphics and animations in the opening cut scene. Loved the tutorial gas station area but got eaten straight off the bat. Okay. Hard-core Mode really is that hard. I went for medium difficulty and started again. But, as I went through the early stages of the game I realised that the shooting is not the same at all. Because, the original game and many installments since have had one omnipresent joy guarenteed to make you feel ruddy bloody awesome: Aiming carefully at and blowing a reanimated corpses cranium into orbit in a shower of rouge confetti and gray matter. Glorious...

    But...not in this game. In this game you unleash all your ammo into a zombie head and it means as much as shooting the body in terms of stopping it in its tracks. And a critical headshot is randomised but of such low probability you don't want to waste ALL your ammo finding out that the RNG messed you over and now you have to reload your save and go again, hoping for a different result. And, I know it's just a video game, but it's just unlikely that if zombies did exist that you would have to pump 11 bullets into it to get the kill, kill, kill. Because guys, these zombies also don't know when they're dead. They keep having naps and then waking up for another midnight snack like a Terminator with a digestive tract. Another irritant I couldn't get past was the subweapon system. The combat knife is used, handily to check if a zombie is in fact dead. You arm it and you can slash away below you to finish the napping dead off before they eat your feet. But, if you ever get grabbed by a zombie and munched on a little you can avoid this by stabbing the zombie in the neck and pushing him or her off you, leaving you space and time to make haste out of there. But, you CAN'T, I repeat CAN'T get your knife back from the dead undead, no matter how dead they are. It's simply so immersion breaking I rolled my eyes every time I had to walk away from a combat knife I could, in a version of actual reality, just put my boot next to create a post and just pull of out the zombie. Oh, well. I'll just get another knife then, I guess. Which is what you have to do. That's right. Combat knife is a consumable. Now, the atmosphere I did genuinely find quite foreboding and tense, due to the fact that you are, as it turns out, really vulnerable. There are tonnes of zombies in this game and you always feel like you're one turn around the corner from being outnumbered and having to fledtfootedly negotiate a safe pathway through lurching limbs and wandering zombie mouths. It's really scary. But, another strange emersion-breaking feature makes this tension just feel needless: laboured movement and molasses-like speed of running. You can run. Yes. But, even though your chosen protagonist is surrounded by famished creepers baying for your blood, the most Leon or Claire can do to save themselves in terms of agility is limp forward as if they have just found out there's no toilet paper in the upstairs loo and now have to get to another toilet whilst being careful not to crap their own pants with diarrhea. Again, unrealistic. If I see a spider in the bath I run out of there like Usain Bolt. But our guys just move like Robert Deniro in the Irishman: look young enough but move about 89 years old. C'mon guys. This is RE. Give me something powerful to level up the odds here. So, the playstyle you are forced to adopt here is much like someone speedrunning Dark Souls. Fake one way, go the other, whilst occasionally sacking an enemy who poses as an impasse. It's just boring to me.

    So, RE4 continues to be the series highlight, I guess.    … Expand

    The atmosphere of horror is overwhelming and proves that in 2019 there is a place for a Resident-like story in which the modern visuals heighten and not lessen the fear. It’s the best Resident Evil ever. [03/2019, p.40]

    Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful recreation of a believed original that, not only recaptures the glory of that game, but also improves upon it from a visual and gameplay standpoint. All in all, don’t miss out on this one.
