    Ratchet and clank is and amazing game with amazing graphics! A game for both young and old and i was pleased to find it could be very challenging a times if you turn the difficulty up. The animation is so good its like you are apart of a movie.

    I never played any game of the series before, so i cannot compare this one to original's. But i liked this one very much, game looks like movie that came out same year on big screen and plays really fun.

    Absolutely love this game! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is exciting, and upgrading weapons is addictive. I found myself laughing numerous times with the great storytelling and being completely immersed in the characters and open worlds. Can't wait to give this fantastic game another run via Challenge Mode!

    An astongishgly beautifutful game that bears its lineage all the way back to spyro on the PS1. Very varied levels. Some lements of combat get a bit repeitive but ovralll good

    I have never played a Ratchet & Clank game before this and playing this makes me want to play every game in the franchise. This is by far one of my favorite games this year (2016). Story, graphics, game play, everything is on point. With all of this the one and only down side? Game length. If this game was only 1-2 hours longer I would feel satisfied.     I would give this game a 9/10 except for two things: 1) the cutscenes have a noticeable stutter and 2) the overused, cliche' faux hero voice of Captain Qwark. I noticed that game recording is paused during cut-scenes, and its possible that these scenes are from the Ratchet & Clank movie. I have not seen the movie, so I can't say for sure. If true, I hope the movie doesn't stutter like this. The voice issue might be mine alone. I just hate that kind of voice. The other characters were delightful, especially Clank.

    Gameplay was just as brilliant as I remember these types of games. I never played Ratchet & Clank or the similar sounding Jak & Daxter, but I have played games like them. There is a nice mix of platforming and shooting that feels like Mario 64 had a child with Quake. The weapons are insanely creative and fun, especially the Groovitron. Pro tip, max out the rocket launcher weapons for boss battles. Also a pro tip, max out the boost to Raritanium drops so you can upgrade guns faster. The environments also look great, with colorful, shiny, and well drawn scenery. After finishing the game, you unlock challenge mode and can unlock even more devastating upgrades. All in all, this is the kind of reboot the world deserves.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a good reboot of the first game. It has lived up to the original with making it's own unique game. It has a story that works but unfortunately it could be more adult like which is what long term fans would really miss. And the twist where Nefarious is the villain could've been built up foreshadowing the events. It has humour within it's levels however with the weapons for example it uses and Quark's narration is amazing. Speaking of the voice cast they all deliver their lines either ranging from good to amazing except for Bella Thorne who will grate on you after a while. And the weapons are not the best we have seen in the franchise but is definitely worthy to be a good standard and the pixeliser is a weapon I hope to stay seeing. The games difficulty is very easy for any fan but it makes sense why since this is very orientated to a kid audience. The soundtrack is good but not as good as the PS2 era. The game I wish could've been longer and maybe instead of merging planets it could've made them separate with their own unique twists. Not only this, although the graphics are drop dead amazing still to this day one of the best looking PS4 games it could've made more of it with huge space fights. Overall this game is a blast from start to finish but could've used a bit more maturity within it, although it isn't good as the PS3 trilogy it is still a fun adventure to play through… Expand

    Graficamente muy bonito, un juego que desmuestra el potencial de ps4 y que no hacen falta graficos realistas para que un juego se vea impresionante. Parece una pelicula de Pixar. Tiene todo lo que nos dio esta saga en ps2 y mejorado, incluyendo cosas nuevas, muy recomendado.

Schade ist allerdings, dass bei der Rückbesinnung auf auch an Rätseln gespart wurde, die Abschnitte meist linear und überschaubar gestaltet wurden und die Flugsteuerung etwas zu sensibel reagiert. Doch selbst wenn Veteranen abseits der neuen Bosse kaum überrascht werden, ist das eine sehr gute PS4-Premiere. Aufgrund der eher unrühmlichen Premiere von Knack und spärlicher Konkurrenz ist Ratchet & Clank zudem der beste Plattformer dieser Konsolengeneration.… Expand

    I sold my Xbox One for a PlayStation 4 just for this game. It did not disappoint . This is a great action platforming game even if it's based on a mediocre movie.

    - Unique and varied weapons
    - Levels are the perfect length
    - Great aesthetic
    - Unquestionably a return to form

    Cons:
    - Bosses are boring
    - Story is a mess due to the movie cutscenes
    - Clank does not do much
    - Gunplay feels a little sloppy at first
    - Some sidequests are simply not fun

    Most definitely not a 10/10 game. I would say this game ranks below several others in its own series.

    That being said, this game is very fun to play so long as you know what to expect going into it. The game does not offer too much more than its predecessors but that is not its intention. It succeeds in being faithful to the light hearted nature of the rest of the series' installments, which is for me half of the reason I enjoy these games so much, the other half being the customization and adaptive opportunity of choosing the right customized weapon at the right moment to win in the easiest way (this game succeeds at this as well, perhaps better than some of its most recent predecessors).

    The look of the game itself is stunning, and certainly contributes to the playing experience, as all the colorful atmospheres and interesting variations in level design make it one of those game that are truly enjoyable to play through. I enjoyed especially the task of trying to find the golden bolts and the occasional frustration that came with that. When going back through already accomplished levels I didn't feel so much a sense of repetition as I did a sense of success, being able to stomp on familiar territory with a more prestigious purpose. And the settings are so bedazzling that exploration is really an almost calming pastime.

    That being said, this game might come up short to players who are not already in love with Ratchet and Clank or who are too much in love with the original Ratchet and Clank. To players new to the series, the game might feel somewhat boring in its simplicity. To players who loved the original with all their heart, the game will suffer a similar feeling of being dumbed down. The old Ratchet and Clank games always threw in some risqué jokes intended for a more mature audience and always managed to maintain an adult undertone, despite all appearances to the contrary. This game loses that aspect of it since it is trying to accommodate its devolution into a children's movie. To a degree, both criticisms are justified. The game is certainly simpler than its original titles.

    But that being said, I think part of its simplicity is derived from the ease of its playability. This game's controls might be the most perfected out of the whole series.

    Taken into a full perspective, this game succeeds at bringing Ratchet and Clank to the new console and perfecting the atmosphere and controls of the series. It provides an entertaining experience with the same customization opportunities had in the previous entries, along with giving players several new innovations. The game manages to keep its charm even if it loses some of its wit. Certainly not the best in the series, but deserving of an 8/10.    … Expand

    A really nice jump n run adventure which makes a lot of fun, looks beautiful and has a cinematic story. On PS5 it runs at 60 fps thanks to an update. All in all a must-have for Playstation fans.

Visuals are stunning, gameplay flows very nicely, with a good set of weapons available, along with a nice story based on the original game.     Combat is boatloads of fun: visceral, diverse, and exciting. Hearing enemies chatter to each other and call out Ratchet’s weapons is also a great joy that was absent in the first game.
    So what’s the horrible flaw, the wrench in the gear? That’s Ratchet himself. The biggest flaw with this game is Ratchet’s characterization. While this may seem petty, I cannot understate how much this marred my experience.
    This new Ratchet seems like he was written to be palatable to three year olds. He is friendly and good natured…but otherwise completely flat. What really gets me, he never expresses any significant fear or frustration, which can really kill the sense of visceral excitement the game otherwise generates. When I am fighting for my life against hordes of blarg, with only 20% health, and hear my gun click, the perfect thing to kill the mood is hearing Ratchet say a very non-chalant “Oh boy, out of ammo!”
    If Ratchet were an experienced super-hero, this subdued attitude might have worked, but as it is, it totally kills the sense of desperation I feel as a rookie hero blasting through an army of Blarg against the odds.    … Expand

Originally I bought it for my younger brother so that he had something to play on my console but funnily enough I ended up loving the game more than him.     An outstanding remake. The graphics are simply stunning, causing destruction is very satisfying, platforming is as tight as ever, and the humor is often hilarious. The story could be a bit longer though.

    Super fun to the point I regret not playing their games back in the day (first time for me). Very fun characters and surprisingly fun and responsive gameplay have turned me in a fan of the franchise

    This game pretty fun, detailed level designs with various weapons and upgrades with good cartoony animations. The problems I encountered with the game is the mission design and a poor story with no memorable characters, but still this game is so fun and definitely a must buy

    this is an excellent remake to the first ratchet and clank game and with 60fps running PlayStation 5 is the ultimate introduction in to the ratchet and clank franchise the game is so much fun its like playing a pixar action movie that is so polished i didn't encounter a single gamebreaking bug so the stability of this game is insaley good i love the story and the introduction to allthis is an excellent remake to the first ratchet and clank game and with 60fps running PlayStation 5 is the ultimate introduction in to the ratchet and clank franchise the game is so much fun its like playing a pixar action movie that is so polished i didn't encounter a single gamebreaking bug so the stability of this game is insaley good i love the story and the introduction to all characters the different weapon choices and fun gameplay don't let people fool you that this game is for kids this game is a must play classic for everyone… Expand

    Running, gunning, flying, diving, racing, exploring, puzzle solving, etc. there is just so much to do. And even better: Every gameplay mechanic is so well executed, that it never feels like it should not be in the game. It's a nice throwback to days when games were more about creativity and not so much about realism but it feels fresh and polished as well. The graphics don't need anyRunning, gunning, flying, diving, racing, exploring, puzzle solving, etc. there is just so much to do. And even better: Every gameplay mechanic is so well executed, that it never feels like it should not be in the game. It's a nice throwback to days when games were more about creativity and not so much about realism but it feels fresh and polished as well. The graphics don't need any words, just look at some gameplay material and you will find your jaw dropped.… Expand

    The most fun game until I got Uncharted 4, it's literally a playable Pixar movie, the game is so valuable that if it was for $60 I would be totally fine with it.

Now if you enjoyed the previous installments you will be sure to enjoy this one as well but if you were looking for something more then you may leave this show disappointed.     This game is one of the few games I've played recently where I can say it's just flat out *fun*. While there technically isn't much replay value, I'm on my third play through and still loving every second of it. So far it is easily my favourite game of the PS4.

    I've loved the Ratchet & Clank games from the very first game on the PS2. I grew up playing platform games, and the decline of the genre has always made me sad. This is a fantastic return to form, sure it's all been seen before, but it's all done with such panache and polish. The fact that it is not a full priced release is just the icing on the cake.     Having never played a former R&C game, the reviews made me pick this one up. I'm glad I did. I hope they remaster the follow-ups as well. A really great plat-former. The graphics are mind-blowing.

    This is one of THE best Ratchet and Clank game hands down! Im 19 years old and I still love this game, more than any game out there (more than GTA V or Uncharted 4). Highly recommended :)

    As a newcomer to the Ratchet and Clank series, this immersive platformer has proven substantial, addictive and a lot of fun. The large environments are a treat for the eyes with the game's beautiful graphics engine, the puzzles are challenging and the gadget and gun based combat is kept fresh with exciting upgrades and customisation.

    This was my first R&C game and it certainly didn't disappoint.
    The story and gameplay was fun right until the end, so much so that starting a ng+ with all the weapons you collected from the first play through made the game even more entertaining.

Some of the cutscenes were from the movie and I guess that's alright but they could've added a bit more feelings? to the way that the characters talked in some cutscenes because they would just talk and do nothing, it was a bit weird.

    For any old Ratchet and Clank fans I totally recommend this game, it has a couple of easter eggs here and there reffering to the old games and it's quite cool. I also recommend it for new ones, It's a perfect game and for its price as well! Get out there and buy Ratchet and Clank!

    I've had this game for so long and I never played it. Eventually played the game during lockdown and I had a blast. Fun gameplay, challenging enough and very lighthearted story. A surprised hit for me.

The story is both a reimagining of the original R&C game as well as an expansion on the plot of the film adaptation. It's all serviceable, but I found no interest in the narrative as there seemed to be some missing details. Also I feel the majority of the humor falls flat. The actual laughs are few.

    Exploring each of the game's planets is a blast. The joy of discovery is real. Everything comes off as genuinely alien and otherworldly. I was instantly pulled into combing every nook and cranny for whatever the developer hid there. In a lot of ways this how Mass Effect: Andromeda should have felt. Of course fighting your way through stages makes up the majority of what you'll be doing here. Combat feels mostly great and fights are both frantic and energetic. I had a slight problem with how the lock on system is handled for certain weapons. Nothing that got in the way of my ability to shoot effectively, but it never quite felt like that aspect was programmed quite as well as it could/should of been. Platforming is spot-on and what few diversions there are offer nice breaks in the action.

    Insomniac has created a stellar sci-fi adventure that can be picked up and played by gamers of all ages. It offers enough depth and satisfying action to ensure that it appeals to older audiences while never being too complicated to prevent the younger players out there from picking up and having fun as well. It's a masterclass in adventure and hands down one of the PS4's best exclusives.

It's extremely frustrating and hard to control to get it right during battles and it is something that needs fixed for future installments. Still, while I thought the game was kinda short, it does have a challenge mode for players wanting to go back in and play for bolts. I enjoyed the game and, for the price point, I would say it's worth it for the amount of sheer fun you will get from this game, especially for long time fans of the series. The original plot has been slightly changed and is a bit wacky, new cut scenes are included from the movie, but the humor is still great. The Ratchet and Clank characters are the same as always, noble and humble heroes looking for an adventure. Captain Qwark is still a pompous and self-interested "hero". The developers altered the jokes for the modern era, with references to social media (which didn't exist back in 2002). And when you see a remade game parodying itself by saying "see you in the next reboot", you know it's funny.

    The Ratchet & Clank games have always been a fun mix of 3D platformer and shooter, and this remake is no exception. Mechanics from later games (such as leveling up weapons with XP) are introduced in this remake, as well as some new features (holocard collecting, weapon customisation). Cool weapons are plentiful, but my personal favorites are the Sheepinator (turns enemies into harmless sheep), the Pixeliser (a shotgun that turns enemies into 8-bit sprites) and the Groovitron (an AoE orb that makes enemies dance around for roughly 10 seconds and be open to attack). Unfortunately there are only 3 boss fights in this game, and none of them is a challenge. There are plenty of collectibles to find, and some side quests are different from the original game. When you are done with the campaign you can begin a Challenge Mode (a New Game Plus mode), by replaying the story with higher level enemies, while your weapons as well as your HP bar can be upgraded even more.

    This remake has some of the best cartoony graphics I have ever seen in a video game. Insomniac Games wanted to recreate a Pixar-esque art style, but it comes at the cost of a lower frame rate. Ratchet & Clank games have always been running at 60 fps, but the developers have abandoned this target in recent years and the remake is running at 30 fps. A game like this with fast action and shooting needs 60 fps. But it's OK once you get used to it. Also if you have a PS4 Pro you can enjoy this game in 4K with HDR, but it's still 30 fps.

    Absolutely loved the reboot. As someone who loved the original PS2 games, but didn't get into the PS3 games for some reason, this was an awesome return to the franchise. The action is just as fun as ever. The reason I'm giving this an 8/10 is simply because of the length. This game is WAY too short. I flew through two playthroughs so quickly, it left me hungry for more...just not in a goodAbsolutely loved the reboot.     Before I react to this, i wanna say this, Ratchet and clank deserves to be a good game for the playstation 4. it proves that there's life on this lombax and his robotic pal...
    they should also piut this game on the psvita...
    this game is fun and a must have for every playstation 4 gamers...

    Ratchet & Clank looks and plays as well as it ever has. Fans will enjoy the nostalgic journey through familiar planets, while newcomers will appreciate the chaotic and creative weaponry. But for the ninth game in a franchise that built its name on unique weapons, it’s a shame that the arsenal just coasts on fan-favorites. Insomniac played it safe.

    Insomniac Games did not just remake this classic platformer. They boldly bombarded it with ideas and then rebuilt it pixel by pixel using methods unknown 13 years ago. The result is magnificent. [06/2016, p.50]
